Do you find yourself constantly returning to old patterns, habits, and mindsets despite knowing better? Most of us struggle not because we lack knowledge but because we don't truly understand our identity in Christ. Drawing from Hebrews 12:1, we explore how recognizing who we are in Christ empowers us to "strip off every unnecessary weight and sin which so easily entangles us."

My own journey through self-doubt and negative self-perception taught me that freedom isn't something we achieve—it's something we accept. When my pastor simply said, "Be free," it transformed my understanding. Those two small words encompass a powerful truth: being free means acknowledging it's already done. Christ paid for everything on the cross—not just our sins, but our joy, peace, healing, victory, and favor. Our responsibility isn't to earn these gifts but to walk in what's already ours.

The gateway to this freedom comes through immersing yourself in God's Word and understanding His thoughts toward you. You are constantly on God's mind, and His thoughts about you are consistently good. Even if your earthly experience lacked love or affirmation, the spiritual reality is that you've been adopted into the greatest family that exists. Today's challenge is simple yet profound: be who God says you are. Embrace your freedom, for what Jesus paid for is already yours. And remember the principle that transforms our interactions: what you make happen for others, God will make happen for you.

Hello and welcome to Mornings with Jesus, your daily dose of encouragement. I am your host, joshua Scott Zaitz. Today's encouragement comes from Hebrews 12 and verse 1. The Amplified Version reads Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses who, by faith, have testified to the truth of God's absolute faithfulness. Faith have testified to the truth of God's absolute faithfulness, stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us.

Something that I used to struggle with quite a lot was beating myself up, not recognizing who I was in Christ, and this caused me to constantly go back into things that I had already been freed from, because I felt like what's the point? I'm a nobody anyway. You know something my pastor said a little while back and it really resonated in my spirit. He said I need you to be free. Be free. You know there's so much passion to those two little words. Think about it. If you are asking someone to be, then they already possess the tools and resources to do so. Simply put, be means it's already done. Be encouraged.

Today I have awesome news for you. Jesus paid for it all on the cross, and he didn't just pay for our sin. He paid for our joy, peace, healing, victory, favor and so much more. He did his part and our part is to be all that he paid for us to be, which, in simplified terms, is completely free Free from fear, free from worry, free from sickness, free from shame, guilt, anger, jealousy, wickedness, addiction, poverty, you name it. He paid it.

Listen, for so many years I struggled with my identity and even now, every once in a while, an old thought or a demon tries to come knocking. But can I tell you the ultimate and easiest way to be free Immerse yourself in the word of God. Immerse yourself in what he says about you. Did you know that he's always thinking good things about you? Imagine that you are always on God's mind. It may seem far-fetched, and if you are prone to deal with the same things I have, then you have a hard time seeing yourself as the apple of God's eye.

But I want to encourage you. Today you are. Perhaps you grew up in a home with very little love and affection or positive affirmation, and you might feel like an orphan most days, but I want to encourage you. You've been adopted into the greatest family there is. You are accepted by the best, so who cares about the rest? You are who he says you are. The rest. You are who he says you are. So today, my challenge to you and I is to be Be free in all that. Jesus has paid for you, and I Remember until next time what you make happen for others, god will make happen for you.
