And so today, I'm just going to bring you quickly some new stories, some posted stories this week that have been not only posted this week, but have been continuing to maintain a lot of attention across West Tennessee and across the country, some of these stories. But uh it's been pretty wild. But before we get into that, just a quick update on turkey season. Not a lot happening. Let's just jump right to that. It's been rough, man. I I talked with several folks at church the other day that said the same thing. They've been experiencing the same exact thing, just um just crazy weather conditions. You know, we've had the weather conditions that have not been conducive to turkey season, just high winds, lots of rain, uh hail the other night, uh, just torrential downpours, tornado warnings, thunderstorms, you know, just all the stuff that just really does a good job of shutting turkeys down. And then on top of that, I feel like we just have had, of course, we're we're getting we're in May. You know, we're in May now, so I mean it's what we would typically call the late season. Um the way we hunt now in Tennessee with our scheduling, it's more like midseason, but regardless, uh the birds are are quieter as would be the case in the later part of the season, but just compounded with the weather and all the different conditions against them, man, it is made for some quiet, quiet days. I've I've hunted the last three hunts, never heard a peep from the roofs, never heard a peep after what would be fly down time, you know. Um rough, rough going, but we're still after it, chasing them. They're still out there. You know, you go to a farm and not hear a thing, and then you drive down the road and see a bird strutting in the field with some hens, and so I mean they're still playing the game, and they're still doing the deal, and you won't kill them sitting at the desk or sitting on the couch, and so keep after them. That's what we're gonna do. We've got tags in the pocket, we'll roll till the end. Um looking forward to that. So the weather is supposed to get better tomorrow. Just another nasty storm rolled through last night and into this morning, and uh looking forward to getting back out there. I personally looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow and uh giving them a go. Like I said, there's been some crazy stuff going on in the news, stuff popping up that's been uh some pretty wild stories of all kinds. This is your posted segment of the week. All right, couple things. You probably have seen it. If you haven't seen it, you probably just haven't been scrolling too much because it's been out there. The beaver attack. Have you seen this crazy stuff? I shared this with Aiden earlier, uh, this beaver attack, and I think it was up in New Jersey. And uh man, just making the rounds as far as on reels and videos and and all manner uh of stuff anywhere and and everywhere, outlet-wise. Uh and let me just I guess I'll try to share. I'm gonna I'm gonna try to read the skinny that I've got on at first, and then we'll go into uh share the actual video uh with you. Let me see if I can pull it back up. It's just uh pretty wild deal. I think it was uh Mawa Maha Mawa, Mawa, New Jersey, Mawa Lake, New Jersey, a beaver who bit an eight-year-old boy after tangling with another family member at Mawa Lake earlier that same day, tested positive for rabies, Tyco Animal Control says. Uh so this beaver, beaver bites a kid, eight-year-old boy. Uh looked to me like he he bites several folks. Um, pretty wild, and um scrapping it out. Now, this family appears to be kind of picnicking and hanging out. Um one headline here says man films beaver charging at family while they're fishing at New Jersey Lakeshore. Um it looks like a stroller up there, a little baby, and there's a little yappy dog down there yapping at all the chaos, woman up there swinging a stick. Maybe they're just camped out picnicking. I'm not sure what all's going on, fishing, hanging out and picnic lunch. And the location though uh appears to be on a kind of a bankside, lake side, and right below them looks to me to be what I would consider a beaver hut. Like you see all this pile of sticks and limbs. I mean, is this not a beaver dam, right? Within five feet of their setup, it looks to me like they set up right on top of this beaver hut dam, whatever you want to call it. And so, I mean, what's to be expected? You go set up on top of that, that's what you get. You mess with the beaver, you get the bite. I don't know. Um let me see what else I can find on this particular situation here. I think there were several little clips that uh that popped up. Oh man, we're gonna go here. Let me see, let me see. Yeah, here we go. People people magazine, people website. Eight-year-old boy hospitalized after being attacked by a rabid beaver at New Jersey Lake. The animal exited the lake and charged at the young boy while he was fishing from the shoreline, police say. Um here's what you need to know. According to this article, an eight-year-old boy has reportedly been hospitalized after being attacked by a beaver at the lake. Uh this happened on Sunday, May 3rd. Police found that the beaver, who was later captured by animal control, had previously attacked other people that same day. On Tuesday, May 5th, the Mawa Lake uh Health Department confirmed that a beaver that had contact with several people had since tested positive for rabies. So, dude, I don't think it's bit, and getting bit by a beaver, I would just have to assume, would be pretty nasty in and of itself. I mean the sucker's got some teeth on 'em. Some chompers. That right there just getting bit by them would be bad enough. Then you go find out, go to the health department or go to the hospital and they uh they're like, hey, yeah, we we got you we got you down for rabies, son. Um the beaver that got you bit rabies. Uh so yeah, just the same stuff here. Let me get down to the get down here. Let me see. The boy tried to run away but tripped, and the beaver bit him on the upper thigh. Beaver bites him on the upper thigh and continued to attack him. Nasty little beaver. A friend family friend stepped in to hit and kick the beaver away from the eight-year-old. The beaver continued to circle the area until emergency service took the boy to the hospital for treatment. Uh his condition has not been disclosed, but as we said, the beaver did show back up since then as rabid. Upon further investigation, police became aware of early reports as well as online videos which went viral on Facebook showing the beaver attacking other people in the park. Uh Blondin told people that the family from the video had been identified or were seeking medical treatment. Uh after animal control found the beaver showing possible symptoms of illness, it was captured and sent for testing. Uh Tuesday, May 5th, the health department issued a statement saying that the beaver had been confirmed that a beaver tested positive for rabies and that those bitten were receiving treatment. What a mess. What a mess. So there you go. I I watched the video, my first thought was the otter incident from several years ago. And that was uh just, you know, like those otters attacking again, but uh evidently this was a beaver, so they say, and oh just a nasty deal. I mean, you uh is anybody safe anymore? You know what I'm saying? You think oh, sweet little beavers just out there doing their thing, splashing the water, building huts, chewing trees down, but now they're chewing on people's stinking leg. And so anyway, let me see if I can play this little video clip and let you hear. They've got the the language uh bleeped out, so you gotta be careful. I would say go watch this video, but don't watch it. Um you just gotta be careful when you watch it and which video you watch, because it does have some F-bombs dropping and and some language in the original guy who videoed this. And uh this one here I think has got, for the most part, got everything got the harsh stuff anchored out. Let me see here if we can find it. Now let me let me just say this as we get started. I don't the guy videoing this is not part of this crew, okay? You gotta keep in mind there's a a family across this little waterway. It looks like the other side of the river, other side of the creek, or whatever. He's videoing this from the distance, you know what I'm saying? He's not with them. They're over there getting mauled by Beaver, and he's having a big time laughing about it and just cutting up, and just you can hear him. He's just laughing. So, I mean, just keep in mind, as far as I know, this is not somebody in that party. You know, this is somebody on the other side watching it all go down, and is highly entertained by what he's seeing. And uh, so you got that. You got him filming from across the way. You got three, four, I don't know, four or five people over there. Yappy dog, all the chaos. Let me back it back up.
SPEAKER_02Beaver holy chunk in the thing.
SPEAKER_03This thing's coming over here.
SPEAKER_00Alright, I'm gonna try to put out there see right now. The beaver's biting down what um looks like biting down the guy's butt, and the rich is coming back a little bit. And then his family helps him, and they're all trying to get back on the bank, and they slip and fall. Looks like the beaver bites on the guy. And right there, he just pick one of the kids picks the beaver up and chunks him, just chunks him like a wrestling move.
SPEAKER_03Yo, it's attacking people.
SPEAKER_00So there you go. Uh pretty crazy stuff right there. Like I said, they they they see the deal going on. It looks like the beaver's latched on the big boy down there, and his he's got plumber butt hanging out like the beaver's biting him on the on the hip or his hiny or something. And his two buddies, they're down there trying to pull him off, and they kind of pull the beaver loose, kick him loose, whatever. And then they all they kind of push the beaver away from the guy, and then they all try to jump back up on the bank and they're slipping and falling. One guy's backpedaling, and he slips and falls, and it looks like the beaver jumps up out of the water onto the bank and maybe bites him. I can't tell. And then he just shoves the thing by the back of the neck, shoves the beaver to the ground, pins it to the ground, and he looks like the youngest dude in the party, but everybody else has left him. He pins the thing to the ground and just picks him up and chunks him, you know, like I said, just slings him, gives him a big sling back into the water, and the beaver swims on down and I don't know. So crazy stuff there. Watch out for the beaver. Okay, you gotta watch them otters. We've learned that from other people being attacked by otters. They're very territorial, and evidently beavers are too. We know that they're territorial, obviously, by the dams they build and the huts and all the stuff, and they're chewing on trees. But man, they will chew on your leg too if you get up in their business. And so, pretty wild stuff there on the beaver attacks this week. You gotta go watch it. I mean, it's pretty entertaining. Like I said, you're gonna hear some language if you don't get the right video. I found this one that had been kind of edited out some of the the language there, but uh pretty, pretty wild stuff. So go check that one out. Up next, the latest from LBL. You won't believe what's happening in LBL, Land Between the Lakes, big recreation area up this way. And uh LBL is is home to what I would argue that is the nastiest tick population on earth. It's it's infested with ticks. So if you're nervous about Lyme disease, you know, Limes, and nervous about Alpha Gal, any of those tick-borne illnesses or whatever, you might not want to mess with LBL because they're i i it's a haven for them. They're just thick. But what else is in LBL? From time to time has been a black bear. And now it appears that that one of these black bears is just kind of taking up in residence and and hanging out. You not not leaving. You know what I'm saying? They've got one over there that's just been hanging around. Last year, I think it was last year or two, there was one that kind of cruised through, kind of cruised through the area. It wasn't my gosh, probably half a mile from the house here. Uh way crowflies, it was, yeah, half mile. There was a black bear hanging out. Several people videoed it, saw it. I got some friends, neighbors up the road that saw it. Had bear crab in their backyard. He sent me a picture. My buddy Mark sent me a picture, said, Man, what is this? Like I'm a doo-doo expert or something, but I mean he just knows I'm an outdoors guy and hunter, and saw this big pile of mess back in his backyard by his garbage can. I said, Man, if I didn't know better, if I didn't, if we weren't in West Tennessee, I'd say that's bear crab. You know, it's too big for coon, but it it looks like bear poop, but I mean we don't have bears around here, and sure enough, that bear had been hanging out in his backyard and back area in the swamp behind him, surfaced and was all over town. So that bear eventually made a run through LBL and then back up into Kentucky. But here in more recent weeks and months, there's been a bear hanging out and it stays, it's been staying over there and showing up on trail cameras in the same area. Uh Salama Twin Lakes just posted it on their website. It said, hey, or on their Facebook page, said, so it seems LBL does have a does have a permanent resident bear, or at least one that loves tripping trail cameras in the Tharp area. These were taken last week and uh just posted a couple trail camera pictures and uh so the bear, I mean, in the woods, in the field, and he's hanging hanging around. You know what I'm saying? I mean, he's not not leaving. Kind of seems to maybe like where he's at. I wish I wish I say I wish. I don't know if that'd be good or bad. The hogs are over there like crazy and they've they've hurt the deer and turkey population considerably. But wouldn't it be cool if if you got a bear that showed up and had some a breeding pair or breeding, you know, get some a bear population started. Would that be cool over there in LBL? I don't know. I like to hang out over there. I like to camp a lot over there, and so maybe that wouldn't be the best deal to have bears, because I I do enjoy bear-free camping. I'm gonna be honest with you. I like to camp when I don't have to worry about bears. Uh when we lived in Montana, I hated the fact and the constant worry of, man, we're in grizzly country, or we're just in heavy black bear country. You know what I'm saying? Just always having to worry, always having to take precautionary efforts to stay bear aware and all the stuff they say. I hated that. I hated the idea and feeling of not being able to relax when I'm in bear country. And so um, maybe that's not great, but it would be kind of cool to see a bear population established in West Tennessee in a place like this where one of these days they open a hunting season because there's bears all over Lambetwin Lakes. I don't know. But if you're camping over there, and I know a lot of you do, be sure you keep on the up and up, and um, there's a bear hanging out over that way. But hey, I'll tell you what else is also hanging out. And I can't confirm this, but this is my guess. Okay? This is just my guess. You guys might have heard the story about this guy, Craig Barry, okay? Craig Barry, wanted by U.S. Marshals. All right, and there's been all kinds of stuff. He's uh the Stewart County Sheriff's Office uh posted this last week. The dude apparently shot his wife and then didn't shoot her good, but he shot her, and I guess she flees the scene, he flees the scene, she gets away, and maybe she was trying to leave, domestic dispute or whatever. He shoots her. She gets away, goes in town, I guess, goes to the hospital, whatever. So now there's this manhunt for this guy, Craig Barry, over in Stewart County across the river. LBL country, okay? Um let's see if I can find the details on this guy. You can look him up. White dude, age 53, 185 pounds, height 5'11, hair's brown, eyes blue. Um you know, just got that uh got that kind of that Kurt Cameron look about him. You know what I'm saying? Kind of a Kurt Cameron, a skinny Kirk Cameron look about him. Uh maybe or not skinny. I think Kurt Cameron's pretty skinny. But this guy here, maybe just a little bit older. Um looking, Kurt Cameron kind of guy. If you don't know who Kurt Cameron is, look him up. I think that's the name of the dude I'm talking about. And looks a lot like him. They got a reward for up to five thousand dollars. I think they ought to have more money than that going towards it. You want to find somebody like this? You better have more than five grand. That's not enough to turn your buddy in. But here's the deal. Here's the problem, okay? And I'm getting somewhere with this when I talk about LBL. But it said on Wednesday, officials announced that law enforcement had expanded their search efforts to the northern part of Tennessee near the Kentucky border. Okay? That's our stomping grounds right up the road. That's our hunting area right up the road. That's LBL right up the road. Barry was last seen wearing camouflage clothing. He is reportedly armed with a rifle and is believed to have taken extra ammunition. Authorities said Barry shot his wife on Friday, uh, May 5th, uh, excuse me, May 1st, before fleeing into the woods near the 100 block of Old Paris Highway. Since then, multiple law enforcement agencies, the um SCSO, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Homeland Security, U.S. Marshals, and TBI have joined a search to locate Barry. Uh the problem with this deal is he is a special forces vet. Okay, this dude's the the real deal. You know what I'm saying? He's special forces uh trained, and he's just a bad dude. You know what I'm saying? Nothing against the guys over there in Stewart County, but I'd be willing to bet that he's badder than all the dudes looking for him. You know, just just to guess. Again, I don't know all of them, but I mean you got some good old country boys over there, some good old guys at the sheriff's department, good dudes, love them, but I doubt we're dealing with special forces guys like this guy. He's out there, he's only fifty-three or so, whatever it was I said. So he ain't he ain't too old to be able to live out them skills and all the stuff he was trained to do. And it says uh this one here, uh day six in search for special forces vet accused of shooting wife, a man ex accused of shooting his wife, and Stuart Cannon's been added to the TBI investigation most wanted list. Uh again, the guy's trained in special ops stuff. A great deal of that training, obviously, is survival training. He's got it going on. He can kill you, he can survive. Uh this guy's got it figured out, and you know, the search was right over in the area of LBL. Now listen, I'm not trying to put out fake news, I'm not trying to get nobody tore up, stirred up, whatever. I'm just saying you go missing around LBL, and dude, you got plenty of room to roam over there. I tell people all the time, don't, don't, you know, don't be surprised, whatever you see. I've seen some shady stuff over there, I've seen some shady characters over there, I've had some shady folks walk up on me over there. I'm gonna be packing something when I'm over in LBL because there's some folks that, you know, they just get over there and hang out. You got people over there that try to homestead, you got people over there to try to um just get in there and, you know, homeless people that get in there and live, and that's why they, you know, changed their regulations a little bit on the price hike on the on the past to be able to go camping and stay over there. They made it where you can't just stay in the same place all the time because they had a lot of people just doing that, living in tents and huts and whatever they had, and a lot of crap going on over there um when it comes to just people disappearing and living off the land and doing Lord knows what back in there. And so that's where my guess is. I I bet the dude disappeared into LBL. He goes on a rampage, shoots his wife, law enforcement's after him, and I think they found his phone. I think they said they found his phone, maybe, I I believe. And you know, he of course he's gonna ditch that so they can't ping him or whatever. But disappears in there, and so who knows? Those are always interesting, interesting stuff when a guy is on the run. You know, we we had the story, I don't know, was where was the deal? The guy out over North Carolina or West Virginia or wherever it was, Virginia, the coach, the teacher, disappeared. Whatever comes of that. You know what I'm saying? I haven't heard anything on that. It just kind of went quiet. That's always so sketchy when you got a story like this and you got a guy like that goes missing, sketchy details. on his story at the school and what he'd been doing and who he'd been doing it with and some weird stuff. Goes on the run and then they just don't seem to be able to find him. I don't I'm not into that stuff, man. I don't I'm not buying it. I feel like there's some sketchy mess going on with some people in charge and I don't know. So will this be another one of those stories? Will this be um a different case? I think it's going to have to be because the guy shot his wife. I mean we're talking about an armed and dangerous dude with special forces training. They better stay after this one. They better up their game. And it sounds like that's what they're doing. They're bringing in the big dogs and so we'll see keep your head on a swivel for those of you hanging out, hunting, hiking, camping over at LBL. I know a lot of y'all do that. And you better make sure you got the goods to stay alert, stay bear aware, and now you gotta be aware of this dude running around over there in Stewart County looking for a place to hide. So don't say you weren't warned. We uh got folks on the lookout. Guys named Craig Berry Craig Berry look him up I'm telling you he looks like Kurt Cameron. So that's the deal on that. Uh what else we got? I think that's it from the posted segment. Hey listen I want to share a word from the Word with you today as we wrap this thing up. Romans 116. Share it all the time but it's one you need to keep in mind Romans 116 for I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
