All right, welcome back to the Hunting Roots Podcast. I'm Brody Swiss shirt beside me, my boy Rimbo. We are fresh off a Hong Kong China buffet run. And uh we went with the crew today, and we're sitting here talking about the mishap. I don't want to call the mishaps. I mean, anytime you go to the buffet Rimbo, you you you have some shenanigans that seem to go on. And I don't know if it's just this particular one, but any China buffet I seem like I ever go to is something going down. And um we were just talking about it. Welcome, by the way, Rimbo. It's good to see you.
SPEAKER_01It's good to be back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's good to be back. We missed last week. We're gonna talk a little bit about our trip to Colorado, my trip to Colorado with Aiden and Easton. Uh we were there all week long, and it's one of those things I thought I could probably we could knock out a podcast before we go, and then I thought, you know, whatever. We just didn't do it. Didn't happen. So first time in what, five years, 250 plus episodes, 250 plus weeks of the podcast, and we we dropped one. We dropped one, dropped the ball. We didn't drop the ball. I finally just said, you know what?
SPEAKER_01I should have done it while you were here, just leave the podcast.
SPEAKER_00Nah, I don't know. Nah, it was good. It's all good. We'll talk more about Colorado in a minute. But back to the China buffet. Hong Kong China buffet in Paris, Tennessee. We're just gonna throw it right there. The lady, did she not did she not grab Ryan's bowl or plate while he's eating dessert?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's eating some ice cream and he and she just grabs and he like must have like just stopped to like wipe his mouth or something, and she comes over, takes the plate and the bowl that was on the plate, and just takes it away, and he's like She snatched it.
SPEAKER_00She just like took it away and he takes a break to wipe his mouth and she snatches it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But something was said, and did he just freak out and say yes, or 'cause I saw mom, yo mama, was saying something. Like he he just kind of went with it, or she said, You done with this, and he I think he got nervous or something, or maybe he thought she said, Are you still eating this or are you done with this? And he didn't know, and he said yes, and she took it, snatched it. Is that how it went down?
SPEAKER_01I think so.
SPEAKER_00Poor guy. He was enjoying that ice cream. He was so excited about his ice cream, went over there and got the own, you know, you drop the lever and do your own ice cream up in the deal, spin it around, and soft serve, pile it up. That little boy's so excited, and then what's her name? I don't even know what her name is. Huh? I don't know her name. I don't know. Um and uh she just grabs it. And she's not I don't know. She's she's uh, you know, those ladies are all business, you know what I'm saying? They're all business. And I've always thought, you know, it's not that they're not nice. They're just all business and they won't play. You know, some of them just don't play. Some of them are kind of fun, but some of them don't play, and it's like, don't play with me, boy. You know what I'm saying? However, you say that in Chinese. Um like we went round and round on the drinks, you know. She was like, You got she's like, You got three, three tea, one water. And I'm like, no, one water, three teas. Or what was it?
SPEAKER_01It was two. It was two waters, two teas.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and she kept saying the opposite. No, that wouldn't be the same. It was sp yes, it was actually two teas and two waters. But I didn't realize that. I thought it was one tea, my my tea and three waters. That's what we always do.
SPEAKER_01But Easton's.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I get it that Easton came in late and jammed it up a little bit, you know, and kind of whatever. I didn't realize. And so I'm like, no, it it's one water, one one tea, three waters. And she's like, Okay, okay, okay. Three teas, one water. No, no, no, you know, and we just went, and I was like, Oh my word. She ain't gonna let you steal some tea or, you know, drink or anything, you know, whatever. She'll she'll get she's gonna figure out what's up and she's always gonna err on the side of you got coke, you got drinks, you, you know, whatever. Like, we don't uh you know, we d we it's water, it's water. But um she was funny, and I I kept trying to I kept trying to say, hey, we can we can separate this tick, you know, everybody's on their own. She's you know, it was she just like, is everybody together? Yeah, I was like, no, no, we're not together, it's all different. Hey, sorry, you know, I know that's gonna be mess, but um anyway. Um good time, always good time hanging out at the restaurant. That was our last lunch, last summer lunch series get together of summer.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm before school starts back and we get the whole good old youth group back.
SPEAKER_00Back in the groove on Wednesday nights. We've been I mean we've been meeting every week, but it's just been different stuff.
SPEAKER_01It's just not been like the regular night where it's always been different stuff, like Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like last night's festivities. Like last night. Tell us about last night's festivities Rimbo here at Maplewood in Paris, Tennessee.
SPEAKER_01So last night we had the mud bowl, and if you don't know what the mud bowl is, it's we uh disced up so we like sprayed the field and we uh had the some grass die off, we disced it up, and then we got some water on it, and it got really muddy. Sloppy and we put like and get it all muddy, and so we planned a mud bowl for our youth group, and that was uh last night, and we had like a course to go through. You could go like through the tires, go over these little uh boards or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Speed and what you call it, speed and agility test, like yeah. Yeah and running through the tires or you know, stepping through the tires, the old football drill.
SPEAKER_01And then go under the little net arming. So that was like a little relay race, and they also had like try to pop the uh like uh beach ball. Beach ball.
SPEAKER_00And that game Yeah, so they had to run a a a guy and his team, a girl and his teammate, guy, whatever. Two people, two teammates at a time would run with the beach ball in one hand, you know, the team would hold the beach ball up, each each each person holding their hand on the beach ball. You couldn't use both hands, you only had one hand per person holding the beach ball up. They had to run down the course, drop it at the end of the course, and then somebody had to try to pop.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00You know, leaping through the air, belly flop, butt flop, back flop, whatever. You had to land on this uh beach ball. And it was the most epic fail or the most entertaining epic fail I I've ever seen because the game just didn't well, the balls just didn't pop, bottom line.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But that didn't matter. It was so much fun watching because I mean people were doing it's like wrestling moves, you know what I'm saying? They were diving off the top ropes, yeah, dropping the elbow, butt flopping, belly flopping, I mean, just skybombing and trying to make this ball. But I mean, once airborne. He did, man, and then the ball was so muddy, and everybody else was so they jump on it, and I mean they're flying through the air to jump on this ball.
SPEAKER_01And it just like popped right out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. And it was just literally like a little trying to catch a pig, you know, pig and slop, you know, them little games where you chase a hog around and he's in the mud. And man, and it just couldn't happen. And I think finally Wyatt popped one, but I don't know. I think he gigged it with something.
SPEAKER_01I think he just probably just like took the plug out and just let the air out and he's like popped it.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. No, I think he went down there and gigged it with a stick or something. I'm not sure, but you guys listening have to watch that because it we're gonna post it here soon. That was uh so much fun game. Just just just a beautiful, beautiful time. And uh so we did that, did classic tug of war in the mud.
SPEAKER_01Um had a hula hoop game where you would jump in the hula hoop. Uh it's a team of three, and there's two guys holding the hula hoop, and somebody will jump in the uh hula hoop and they'll put it over the dude's head.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then they'll jump over or into the hula hoop.
SPEAKER_00Kind of like your leapfrogging. Yeah, leap like your leapfrogging. You they jump into while they're holding a hula hoop, two people are holding it, the other person jumped into the hula hoop, and then you raise the hula over them and put it back in front of them, they jump in it again, kind of like leapfrog.
SPEAKER_01And there's like a line in the mud somewhere, and first person to cross the line wins. That game was okay.
SPEAKER_00That game was it's just okay.
SPEAKER_01It was good, but it was a little bad.
SPEAKER_00I think we'll cut it for next year.
SPEAKER_01And then the best game of all was Ultimate Handball. Ultimate handball. And it's basically ultimate frisbee, but with soccer goals, and you can A ball and a ball. And so pretty much same rules and stuff, but like you try to throw it in the um soccer goal, and it's pretty fun though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was a great game. Great game. Great time. I had a great great turnout with that, and uh I mean, those kids were just absolutely nasty. It was I mean, I got a pi a picture. Luke Boyd's dad sent us a picture and said, uh, Joey sent us uh he sent me a text later that night, late that night last night, and said, Hey, here's a pile of q-tips, and they'd been they'd been it was just a pile of q-tips. I don't know how many there were, and they were just all muddy. He's like, hey, we're cleaning out, just cleaning out the old ears. Jimmy Barrett. Oh my goodness. What in the world? All right. Who is Mr. Jimmy trying to call. Shout out to Mr. Jimmy, Mr. Jimmy Barrett. He's calling for that dinner plan. Yeah, bless him. Bless him. He's uh he's no, we're gonna let that go. We're not even gonna we're not even gonna cut that. We're gonna let that in there. Mr. Jimmy, shout out to Mr. Jimmy. How old is he? 87?
SPEAKER_01It's probably like 90.
SPEAKER_00No, no, he's like, I think eighty-seven now. And uh that's a good old man. Ate lunch with him the other day. He'll call about every day. And I want to go eat lunch or dinner or whatever, so he's working on that afternoon plan. But um where were what were we talking about? Mr. Jimmy. Uh mud bowl. Mud Bowl, yeah, but I mean we're talking about the muddiness of Luke Boyd. Yes, Luke Boyd. I'm like so distracted by trying to shut down Mr. Jimmy's call. Uh yeah, so he sends a picture of these Q-tips just from cleaning his ears out. People mud everywhere, every crack and crevice, mud. Yeah, he had a he had a pile of q-tips just from trying to get his ears cleaned out because he was one of the guys rolling in Sammy.
SPEAKER_01So who's the muddiest person? That's a good question.
SPEAKER_00We should have, we should have had been Sammy.
SPEAKER_01We should take a poll on who do you think the muddiest person was?
SPEAKER_00We'll go back and look at the picture and see.
SPEAKER_01And like put their faces like honestly, in my opinion, the top three people are Sammy, Clay, or Luke.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Let's do that. We'll take a poll. Instagram poll, we'll post a picture and see who's the nastiest, who's the muddiest, who's the most covered. Old Jim Twebek, he he messaged early on the Facebook picture and he said, How is it that Brody's the cleanest? He said, anyone notice that Brody's the least uh muddy person in the picture?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we should have got you in there.
SPEAKER_00He said they can't catch me. But uh good times, good times. That ultimate handball, that's a game, like you said, it's like what the ultimate frisbee game they do around here. Everybody plays around here. Um but it's ultimate handball, like you said, with the ball. It's like a miniature kickball. It's not a full-size kickball, like old school kickball for uh schoolhouse. It's a smaller version that so you can actually grip it and palm it and throw it. Um and yeah, it was fun. So that game there though, we we played in Colorado. So last week on the mission trip in Colorado, that was a game they did. Now they weren't playing the mud, but I saw it and I thought that's a great game, and that'd be an even greater game to play at Mud Bowl in a mud pit. And so that's what we did. Little miniature soccer goals up there, and it was fun. It was fun.
SPEAKER_01So I mean, honestly, I got better like traction in the mud than I thought I would.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, wasn't bad.
SPEAKER_01It was easier to like get her grip in the mud than I thought it'd be. Like I wouldn't wasn't really slipping that much.
SPEAKER_00It was so soupy. By the time everybody got in there and and worked the water into the mud, it just made like slop. Like it wasn't just mud anymore. It was like soup.
SPEAKER_01It smelled like the fare, like the I mean the carnal, like uh fair, like all the sweat and sweat and mud. Yeah, and like extra sweating.
SPEAKER_00Because that's what my truck smells like. I got my truck this morning and it smelled like sweat and mud. I was like, sweat, like it's somebody's stinky's t-shirt probably stuck in there, and so we cleaned it out. But uh as I was saying though, that game is one we saw in Colorado last week. Colorado mission trip, give you a quick update on that. I went to Colorado, Loveland, Colorado, with Aiden and Easton and some crew, a couple other folks from the church, and um we went out there to host an adventure camp. We've done a lot of sportsman camps over the years. We did adventure camps in Montana when we lived out there, and uh again, just a just an opportunity to bring people to a location, a venue, and uh just to hang out with them and uh an outreach opportunity, and ultimately just to share the good news, Jesus, share the good news with folks, and um and that's what we did. We helped this church put on one there in Loveland, Colorado. River Church is the name of the place. New church they started out there in Loveland, and um it was good. Aidan and Easton got to go. I don't guess they'd ever been to Colorado. I've I've been to Colorado a handful of times, uh, El Cotton, and uh I don't guess I've been since 2017. 2017's when I killed that big bull in there that's on the fireplace, man on wall, whatever. That was 2017, I'm pretty sure. And so I hadn't been back, so we were due, and it was a great trip. Flew in there on a Sunday afternoon and did the adventure camp Monday through Thursday. A lot of fun there, good times hanging out, doing some work, some kingdom work with the boys, and uh it was special to be able to go. I wish you'd gone, Remy. Maybe next year we'll put you in the mix, but I think you Oh, you had camp. Yeah, you had camp. We'll talk about your camp in a minute, but uh you were at camp here while we were there, and uh just a good time. We did go up in Rocky Mountain National Park, up um Estes Park area, and I've been hearing stuff about that. I've never been. Uh old buddy John Hafner, he used to go up there and do some photography, so that's a place to go for elk, elk photos and stuff, and and I didn't take my big camera, but uh we went up one evening and dude, we saw some stuff. We saw a cow and a calf moose. Old cow down there just just chewing her cut. I guess she was doing, I don't know. I guess they do that like other critters. She was just down there laid up in the thicket, had a calf in front of her that was pretty sweet, about 45, 50 yards. Uh we saw three bull moose, excuse me, three bull elk. Um on the way up, I'll say this, on the way up, we were going, we hadn't been driving 30 minutes, and we come to the first creek, first kind of wild part of the park, and I say wild part, we were just getting into some stuff that was looked a little bit like elk country, like a place that elk could be hanging out. Just getting into it. And sure enough, one of the people in the car said, I just saw an elk. Who do you think it was?
SPEAKER_01Easton.
SPEAKER_00No, wrong, Aiden. Wow. And Aiden's like, I just saw an elk. I was like, No, you didn't. Because it was one of those things he's like, I just saw an elk. Of course, we're already past it now, and so I can't point it out to you. So we're just like, boo, you didn't see nothing. And we're giving him crap the rest of the trip. Two hours we give him a trip, you know, just like, yeah, oh yeah, you saw an elk, sure you didn't, you know. On the way back down, two hours later, on the way back to the hotel, two hours after we've been going up and down all over the mountain for a couple hours, up on the mountains and the hills and seeing all kinds of stuff, we're coming back, and I like, dude, this is the same exact spot, you know, Aiden, that you said you saw the bull or saw an elk, and we get down to that same exact spot. You know what's standing there? Right there on the little Jimmy Barrett. Oh my word, come on, Jimmy Barrett. What are you doing? I thought I silenced that mess. Get off of Jimmy. I'm telling you, how many times you let's just say how many times you think he's gonna call?
SPEAKER_01Three. Not three more, but that'll be. Three total. All right, there's two.
SPEAKER_00Three in total. There's two. Um God bless you, Mr. Jimmy. Um so we're coming back down, same spot, two hours later, and we're like, dude, it's right here is where you said you saw. Where's your bull? And we look up, and there's a bull standing there in the river, just on the edge of the river, standing there big as a world. Young bull, just standing there, 30 yards. And so we're just flipping. I like, oh my gosh, there he is. He's right there, he's still there, two hours later, having a big time. So I turn around, we're whooping around. We've got to get our camera and phones out and all the stuff and go back, take pictures. We're looking, then we turn back around, so that's on their side. They're looking, taking pictures, and they're like, oh my gosh, there's two more bulls. Right back up, brother. We're on a sketchy stretch of the road. They're like, back up. I'm like, dude, I don't, we're gonna we're in a curve in the road, we're gonna get smacked. And I back up a little bit, and they're like, there's a bull right here at five yards. Bull elk, five yards, twenty and thirty. So I mean it was it was cool. So we got to see three nice bull elk right there up in our business. That was cool. Those guys never seen anything like that. Little Kenna was in the car with us, she'd never seen nothing like that. That was pretty awesome. So we saw two moose, three bull elk, and we saw a little bachelor group of mule deer. Five uh five mule deer bucks. And uh it's good. It's just good time. Lots of other little deer and stuff. Great trip, great time. Always cool to go and do some unique stuff and unique places. So uh good stuff out there. Check out the river church out there in Loveland, Colorado. So while we're doing that, you're back here doing Sunrise Adventure Camp, the camp that your own mom and daddy started back in whatever it was, 2004, 20 something years ago, I guess maybe. You're doing that. What was the highlight of your camp? Best and worst of camp for you this year.
SPEAKER_01Um, I don't really know if I had a worst. Um I mean, I don't I don't really think I had a worst, but yeah. Um all good. I really like the bow fishing and how'd that go for it? That was really good. I shot a carp and so it was really good.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Um how big was that carp?
SPEAKER_01It looked good in the picture, looked like they said it was about like 10 or 15 pounds.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that's pretty good. And then the paintball was really fun too.
SPEAKER_00That's your first time you get to do that, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was my first time playing paintball, so it's pretty fun.
SPEAKER_00What kind of bow were you shooting? Do you remember what kind of bow you're shooting the just whatever you they had, the PSEs and stuff? Yeah. Well, you shot that. John Paul sent me a picture of that one night. I don't know, whatever night it was, y'all went out and he sent me a picture late. I get the picture came in, and you're holding this big old common carp. And I was like, my question to him was did he shoot it or did y'all just catch it dead, you know, find it dead or whatever. I was proud. I thought, I hope you shot that. That's that's awesome. Big fish. Big time, bow fishing. Ooh. Uh so a great week for you there. We all get back from that, wrapping things up. It's supposed to have a Buffalo River float trip last week, uh or earlier this week, I guess it was. And um but what happened?
SPEAKER_01Um, like we get over to the Buffalo River area, and I don't know, but like dad just says it's something about like one of the uh locals from the Buffalo River area was like saying that the waters up really high. And that like last night it was pouring down rain.
SPEAKER_00Storm that night. It's it stormed bad that night. Yeah, the night before our trip. Stormed hard here and stormed hard down there. That's about an hour down the road from us, but storm, and if you don't know, I mean, West Tennessee, it's been like rain every day. You know, pretty much every day. Not every day, but pretty much. We've had rain for the last month. June and July both. I mean, it's it's the greenest month I can remember. Uh months that I can remember, greenest summer in years. And um we've had rain just like I said, just about every day. Uh everything is so green, and um the grass is growing like crazy, but that also means the rivers are up and it stormed that night. I was like, I don't know, man. We we kept talking about it a little bit, and I looked at some reports and everything said, no, it's good. No, no, warnings or advisories or alerts right now for the river. Water stable. But then I uh, you know, as en route uh with 20 kids, uh 20 students headed to the Buffalo. We start I'm still searching and checking and looking, and uh I just decided to call some outfitters. I've called some outfitters down there that do guided trips on the river, and they're like, man, we're not putting anybody in the water today. We don't recommend it today. It's up, it's high, it's moving quick, not safe. So plan B, we went to the Tennessee River, some of our own stomping grounds on the Tennessee, and went out on Kentucky Lake and had a big time, took the kayaks there, bailed out and check out some new grounds, some new territory, and uh just did some exploring. And um that was good. It was a good trip. Got a little sun, you get sunburned? You didn't get some sun. You got some sun on the thighs. Yeah, you got you got the oh, I did too. Everybody got some sun and it was a good time. I like kayaking down there around where people duck hunt, a lot of duck blinds.
SPEAKER_01It's pretty fun. And then after that we're jumping off the dock into the water. Yeah. It was a good time.
SPEAKER_00It was a good time for everybody except one person, though. One person had a little mishap. Who was it?
SPEAKER_01Um, I'm guessing Logan.
SPEAKER_00You don't want to say his name, but you don't want to throw him under the bus. Old Logan. We won't say which Logan. People can probably uh figure out which Logan it was. But uh, yeah, he uh he he what? You want to say something? Uh you want to you want to say something? Speak to it? You want to speak to the story? Old Logan jumped off the dock, and you'll you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. If you know this Logan, he he jumps off the dock. First off, he's pushing people off the dock. He thought it was fun to push everybody else off the dock.
SPEAKER_01And so he probably gets pushed off the dock.
SPEAKER_00For Logan, though, Logan's a pretty good old boy, and he he talks big talk. When it comes to walking the walk, it's a different story, and when he gets down in the water, somebody pushed him off or whatever.
SPEAKER_01And everybody like everybody Gets in the water and they get back onto the dock, they pull themselves up or they just leave.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But Logan's uh still's down there, he can't get his his butt up on the dock. You know what I'm saying? I don't the the arm strength just ain't there, and he he's can't get himself back up, so I'm looking down there and I'm hollering at him like, dude, you the only person I've ever seen stuck in Kentucky Lake and had to get pulled out by your mom. A woman. That's great. Good times. Good down, good time down there at the lake. Um what else you got? Any other stories from last week? Updates? Dude, what about this uh is August the month where we're almost here, but is August the month where this baiting, they call it not a permit, but uh or maybe the baiting privilege. I I keep saying they call it the baiting privilege, like hey, you get the baiting privilege, but how much does it cost to get this baiting privilege?
SPEAKER_01Like fifty dollars.
SPEAKER_00Fifty smacks in Tennessee. It it's the it's the goofiest thing. I I mean, I don't know. It's it's just the goofiest thing in the world. Um It wasn't too many years ago. Five, I don't know when it was, maybe a little more, that they found some CWD in Tennessee, and then you know, people have been talking about baiting there you know in Tennessee for a while. Like, hey, this is gonna be the year. They're gonna allow baiting this year, it's gonna happen this year. It's coming. And then the CWD pops up on the scene, they f they start finding some CWD there, testing and stuff. So the the the baiting talks go away, completely go away. Nobody's talking about baiting. You can't bait, right? You don't want to bait, that's gonna be the the you know spread of CWD and all that stuff. And it wasn't long ago, Rimbeau, they're talking about baiting in Tennessee, then CWD hits and CWD's the talk of the town, and then just a handful of years later, here we are, like, hey, give us fifty bucks and you can you can bait deer anywhere you want on private property. So I don't know. We're we're just kind of all over the place. Uh the executive director I saw the other day that kind of runs a show for the state, TWRA, I saw that he's retiring.
SPEAKER_01It's funny, they also have like I think this is a thing. It's like if you uh like give two deer to like the TWRA, like two does to the T O W R A station or whatever.
SPEAKER_00For testing.
SPEAKER_01Like for testing, then they'll give you an extra buck tag.
SPEAKER_00That's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_01And so that's pretty cool that they're pretty cool kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_00Um I'm yeah, that's pretty cool. I'll go with that. So 50 bucks you can you can uh get the baiting privilege. Now here's the thing, I've heard people say that because uh you probably don't know Rimbo, but they they had something recently in the last couple years where they ruled something to the effect that game wardens could not come on your property. You know, used to be game warden didn't have to have any kind of warrant or anything. He could come on your property. He had more he honestly had more uh authority to than a police officer. You know what I'm saying? Because uh Game Warden didn't have to have a warrant to come on your place, he could come up in your business, and several years ago, through a couple different things, I think they ruled in favor of, hey, it's private property, you don't get to come on my property. They can't walk up on our place, any private property, they can't do it without some other uh authorization, whatever. I've heard people say, and I've heard this a number of times, people say this, that if you buy this baiting privilege, this $50 permit, if you buy that, I've heard people say that that nullifies the officers can't come on your property. For whatever reason, if you buy that, then they can come on your property. Now they can all of a sudden do that. They can they they kind of the um I don't know how it is worded, I don't know how it lays out or whatever, but if you if you buy the permit, and some you know, evidently you're baiting, then all of a sudden the rules out, they can come and and monitor that, whatever. I I guess there's some uh you know, some juking and jiving on the legalities there. And I don't know if that was their play all along, it's like, hey, we're gonna get these guys, we'll kind of come around the back door and get the right to come back on the property because they'll buy the permit, and then we can be back on. So I don't know. Anyway, 50 bucks pop, you can throw corn on the ground this year. I'm not real a big fan of that. I I don't know. Um it's kind of like man, you you know, I don't want to do that. I've I've hunted around corn up in Kentucky and um I remember last year, hunting over a bait site in Kentucky, early season deer hunting, and um I mean I I I've never had more deer blow at me in all my life. Those deer came from every direction, circling that bait site downwind until they found me, and I was just getting busted. You know, just just constantly getting picked off. Why? Because they knew something's up. They went downwind, circled downwind until they until they got me. And um I finally had to get away from that bait site and like, hey, I'm gonna go take my saddle set up and go somewhere else and and get on some deer. And when I got away from bait site, first night away, when I went off and did my own thing, killed two does that night and and had to get away from bait site. You know, that was a handicap being at a bait site because they knew it. They come in there scared to death, they're watching it, they're checking it. So I'm not I'm not just a big, big fan of the corn on the ground. Like I said, I've done it. I've killed deer on it in Kentucky. Um it's kind of fun when it works, but it it's it's kind of irritating in a lot of ways. And so I I hope it's not the the downfall of deer hunting in Tennessee because big big changes like that can kind of jack stuff up, you know. I don't know. We'll see what comes of that. Uh and then, like I said, dude, we're right here. August is here. We are what is the date? I don't know. We're 26th or so, you 26th or 27th of August you can hunt, Velvet Hunt. Time to get with it. We got a lot of shooting to do. We've we've dropped the ball this year. Uh we've been so busy June and July. Uh just not shooting like we need to. But we've got less than a month away. Let's call it one month. We've got a month to prepare for Velvet Bucks season in Tennessee. This year, you know, we've kind of in the past you've just been A little less than a month. Yeah. In the past you've been just kind of like, hey, you want to go, and we've kind of treated you, I'll be honest, we've kind of treated you like a little tag along. Like Remy wants to velvet hunt, so let's just take him along. He can sit over there and just kind of let him think he's hunting. You know what I'm saying? He'll set him over there, set him on the edge of the field. You remember last year kind of made a grass, a blind for you in the grass, and you set over there, and it was a really good spot. And you did have a deer coming your way. But it was kind of a we're just gonna set you over there and let you kind of feel like you're hunting. You're on the hunt, but really not in the hunt, you know, whatever. This year's gonna be different. This year we're gonna we're gonna do have you a spot just like uh everybody else. Aiden's got his spot, I've got my spot, we'll have you in a spot, and we're just gonna have things laid out, and it's gonna be awesome. And so if you're if you're shooting your bow, like all of us, right? We've got to shoot our bow, get ready to roll. It's gonna be good, man. Less than a month away from velvet season here in Tennessee, fired up about it. Guys, we're gonna wrap things up with this verse right here. Listen to it. Proverbs 18 21. And it says this the tongue can bring death or life. Those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Do you catch that, Rimbo? The tongue can bring death or life. Those who love to talk will reap the consequences. The things we say, the things that come out of our mouth, the things our tongue that roll off our tongue, oh, man, they can either build up so good or they can bring about horrific stuff. They bring the death or the life to those who hear our words. What are we saying? What are we doing? What are the words coming out of our mouth? Is it building up? Is it tearing down? Is it bringing death or life? But I love that second part. Those who love to talk will reap the consequences. If you love to run your mouth, if you love to talk a lot, love to run your mouth, you're going to reap the consequences. Now listen, this is not talk about the guy, like, hey, we're we obviously love to talk. We've we you and I both have the gift of gab. We like to talk a lot. We do talk a lot. We never stop talking. You're like, hurry up, quit rumbling, rumbling, rambling. We like to talk. But it's uh it's not about it's not about that, like, hey, the guy that likes to talk, that can share, podcast, speak, preach, whatever. It's talking about the person that's running their mouth. You know some people, I know some people like to run their mouth. You know what I'm saying? We were around them the other day, probably around something last night, maybe even yeah, maybe, you know, whatever. I'm not saying any names. You got people that just never shut up. And that's you know, some of those, they're the ones that love to talk. They're always running their mouth, they're always being negative, that always have something wrong to say. Hey, those people they will have and reap their consequences. And so watch what you say, how you say it. Is it positive? Is it lifting people up? Is it tearing them down? Is it uh what are the three things we say in the case?

SPEAKER_00Is it kind? Is it true? Is it necessary? I know that sounds a little bit cis, maybe, but man, that's some good stuff to think about. I have to think about that all the time. Because I oftentimes I'll say, hey, it's true. They need to hear it. It's true. Uh no, it's not kind. Uh maybe it is necessary, but when it gets to that kind part, usually I like to say, you know, I can how about just, you know, one out of three, but no, man, is it kind? Is it true? Is it necessary? Um, a lot of times that kindness one gets me because I feel like it is true. It is necessary to tell them and pop off and call things out, but that kindness is what gets me when it's like, man, that ain't gonna be kind. If I go in there, it ain't gonna be kind. What are the things I'm saying? So keep that one in mind. The tongue can bring death or life. What are the things we're saying? How we say it, things, uh, the way we say it. I think, you know, a lot of times you and I both get in trouble with that, the way we say stuff. Maybe that's not what we say, but it's how we say it. It can oftentimes get us.
