And so we're excited we're really excited about doing this , because we're going to have the opportunity to relive what was , for me , one of the greatest adventures of my life the Pacific Rim trip that we did . What we really wanted to do was , first of all , we wanted to trace Ray Comfort's footsteps , in a sense , his tiny little footsteps .

Speaker 1Teeny , tiny little footsteps , booty steps , yeah , and so that was , and I will get to New Zealand , but it was what a journey it was . Honestly , for me , it was in many ways revolutionary because I was able to really get a sense for what God did through your reign , especially when we were in New Zealand . I think that was the highlight moment for us in different ways . But , yeah , we started off and it was a lot of planning , it was a lot of orchestrating and we launched , took off and we landed in Tahiti . That's where it was first . Did you get there before us , oscar , I did , and we landed in Tahiti

Speaker 2Oscar , I did . I got there one day earlier because there was an opportunity . Eddie Roman , our producer , found an opportunity in which there was a bunch of young adults that were there on mission and we got to host a mini one-day evangelism class in which we taught them how to preach the gospel , use the law , and it was amazing , they were all really encouraged by . A handful of them were already following Living Waters and others were hearing the idea of using law and evangelism for the very first time , and yeah , so I went out one day early to do that .
Speaker 1So Tahiti was really great . And then , mark , I'd love you to talk about the time we had with those folks where we sat around and instructed them in evangelism .
Speaker 3Oh , the students at the Bible College , right , oh yeah
, what a treat . People that were not necessarily equipped in the area of using the law . Listen , living Waters kind of has a two-part message . Right , use the law of God to bring the knowledge of sin and stop using life enhancement as a drawcard for salvation , because you'll have people that will respond to that message in an experimental fashion to see if the claims are true . Is Jesus better than MTV ? Is he better than the latest fad or the toothpaste that I tried yesterday ?
Speaker 3People need to come to Christ because they have sinned against a holy God and because of that sin , they've been weighed in . The balances have been found lacking . They do not have the righteousness required of the law to stand before a holy God . Therefore , they will be judged Sin , judgment and righteousness . So to stand there in front of those students and to open up the law of God for the purpose for which it was designed .
Speaker 3You can see them agreeing with you , because how many times have we tried to win somebody to Christ by just trying to say that he's better than whatever it is that you're going through , whatever you're experiencing ? But that's not how you evangelize . We give law to the proud and we give grace to the humble . So it always starts off and it's without fail . The people are watching and they're like , huh , wait , what are you getting at ? But what about ? And their heads are turning because they can't compute what they've been doing and what they've been taught , necessarily . And then as you open up Scripture , because that is our ultimate source of authority , heads begin to nod , people begin to agree and they see really how easy it is to evangelize , because the onus is now left on Christ , not on you , to try to save someone . Salvation belongs to the Lord . Give a lot of the proud , give grace to the humble , leave the results to God . God is not calling you to be fruitful , he's calling you to be faithful Amen .
Speaker 1And then I don't know if you guys remember , but there was a guy who just happened to come and sit down with the students and he had questions and he starts kind of peppering us with questions and we tried to engage with him in that . Ray , through the years you've dealt with hecklers and we dealt with that on this trip , I think , of Australia in particular . We had a pretty intense heckler that you engaged with , mark , but , ray , you don't see hecklers as a negative .

, hecklers are a positive . Jesus had hecklers all the time . We read in Scripture where hecklers came to him . We don't see the passion . This was open air , huge crowds . Jesus would have lifted his voice like a trumpet to show this people their transgression . And those Pharisees who asked him and accused him would have done so with passion and volume , and that's probably why the crowd also came to see what was going to happen here . How would Jesus answer this ? And we've got some of our greatest truths in scripture because some heckler asked a particular question or brought some accusation . So hecklers can take a crowd of 20 people to 100 people in two minutes if they use correctly .
Speaker 4And the way to use them correctly is just to provoke them to a point where they don't hit you .
Speaker 1We hit New Zealand . New Zealand again was my highlight , because what you're going to see in New Zealand is we went to the place where Ray first got a hold of the use of the law and evangelism
. It was a church he spoke at . We went to the rectory they call it where you stayed with the family , and we went into the room that Ray was reading the sermon by Spurgeon and just got hit . When was that ? I mean .
Speaker 3Ray , how many years ago was that ? That was when you received 1982 , september of 82 .
Speaker 4The chronology was I read Spurgeon's sermon that blew me away with just a tiny portion of a sermon where he says what will you do when the law comes in terror , when the trumpet of the archangel shall tear you from your grave , when the eyes of God shall burn into your guilty soul and angels shall tear you from your grave , when the eyes of God shall burn into your guilty soul and all the books shall be opened and all your sin and shame shall be punished ? Can you stand against an angry law ? In that day I remember going . It's a little different from . God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life . And then I tucked it in my memory banks .
Speaker 4And then about two days later , I was up at what was called the manse , which is the house that the preacher stays in in the small Presbyterian church and that one room at the back . That's when I read Galatians 3.24 and misread it in my subconscious . The law was a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ . I read it the law was a schoolmaster to bring Israel to Christ . No , it doesn't say that . It says us . And so I thought well , let's see if it works . That's when I went to the hot springs .
Speaker 1Yeah , it was amazing to go to the actual hot springs where Ray first used the law and evangelism and that just changed everything . Oscar , let's go to .
Speaker 2Pita , pita
. Yeah , so we got finished having lunch and there's all these individuals outside , you know , drinking and laughing and whatever . And I walk up to this guy and his name's Pita and Pita is the size of a building . He was just strong and massive . I shook his hand and it was like probably what it feels like when Ray shakes people's hands . It was just like this tiny my hand was just this tiny little thing in his mitt , you know .
Speaker 4He'd be a rugby player .
Speaker 2He would be a rugby player . And I start , you know , talking to him preaching the gospel , and he just starts bawling his eyes out and I mean like waterfall . Oh yeah , they were just like just coming down and I walk him through the law and the gospel and we pray , and when we're done I remember him saying what do I do now ? What do I do now ? And his family's behind him and I go why don't you go tell them ? Preach the gospel to them ? And then he says , will you tell my chief ? He grabs my arm and he starts walking us over to the chief's home and I remember like , as he had my arm with him , I'm like man , if this guy got crazy , would I be able to escape ? Like I felt like I can , I just couldn't move . He was just a monster . So he walks us over I'm about to turn it over to you , ez he walks us over to the property and we walk over to the chief's home and the chief wasn't there , but his wife and mother was .
Speaker 1Yeah , Mark , I'd actually like to hear from your perspective .
Speaker 3Well , I remember we were eating lunch up in that area , right , and I look over at Oscar and I'm like what is going on ? And I look over at Oscar and the guy had his hand on the shoulder . They're holding onto each other and I just remember looking , I go , is the guy throwing up ? I mean , it really seemed like that because there were so many tears that were running down and we captured it on camera so many tears that were coming down the guy's face . The next thing I know , we are now inside of this hut and you're preaching the gospel to the family , and now was it the wife of the chief .
Speaker 1Yeah , the chief's wife One of the wives Because we were at the chief's mother's house and his wife took us to the mother's house across from their house , and I didn't know what to expect . I'm thinking are we going to get killed here ? You know , like what's going on , and yeah , yeah and then you share the gospel .
Speaker 3and it was so neat , you know , I mean they have nothing , but they realize that what they needed was Christ and to see you unashamedly , you know , talk about who God is and the law , and then the gospel , and Christ crucified . It was it just made . I mean , if that was the only thing we did , it would have made the whole trip absolutely worth it .
Speaker 2And as you're preaching , PETA is behind you . Still crying , Crying and like yes .
Speaker 1Jesus amen , yes , well what really touched me was the chief's wife was in tears and I said to her what you know , what's going on right now , and she said I just feel like you're speaking directly to me . I said I wasn't going to do that , man , but you think about all the things that connected , that made that happen . It was amazing .
