Well , I remember we were eating lunch up in that area , right , and I look over at Oscar and I'm like what is going on ? And I look over at Oscar and the guy had his hand on the shoulder , they're holding onto each other and I just remember looking , I go is the guy throwing up ? I mean , it really seemed like that because there were so many tears that were running down and we captured it on camera , so many tears that were coming down the guy's face . The next thing I know , we are now inside of this hut and you're preaching the gospel to the family , and now was it the wife of the chief .
Speaker 3Yeah , the chief's wife , one of the wives , because we were at the chief's mother's house and his wife took us to the mother's house across from their house and I didn't know what to expect . I'm thinking we're gonna get killed here . What's going on ?
Speaker 1And yeah , yeah and then you share the gospel . And it was so neat , I mean . They have nothing , but they realize that what they needed was Christ . And to see you unashamedly talk about who God is and the law , and then the gospel , and Christ crucified , it just made . I mean , if that was the only thing we did , it would have made the whole trip absolutely worth it .
Speaker 3What do you do ? What do you get friends ? When you take an Arab , a Mexican and a white boy and send them to preach the gospel in the Pacific Rim ? You get a tabbouleh burrito that can't jump .

Speaker 3Yeah , that's what you get friends . Yeah , that's what you get friends . And that's what happened . Because Ray Comfort , who sat here in the comfort of sunny Southern California , where he would ride his bike with his dog , sam , and go to Cerritos- College . Oh , did I say Sam ? Yes Too soon .

We just finished doing some recordings earlier and we leave this set buzzing with joy , because this is what the Christian life is about . We hope that we model for you guys the kind of life you should live in community with other believers being able to just talk about the Word , talk about the Lord , laugh with each other , harass each other . We're really excited about doing this , because we're going to have the opportunity to relive what was , for me , one of the greatest adventures of my life the Pacific Rim trip that we did , of my life , the Pacific Rim trip that we did . There was a time when Ray Comfort used to travel before he became a bobblehead .

Speaker 2Yes , I travel on 2,000 flights , 2,000 flights , and one day I said I had enough , I'm done , I could take my shoes off .

So Ray is a part of that season , friends , and it's kind of cool because you're going to see Ray on the streets here interacting with people and sharing the gospel and then commenting on the torment that we endured . Speaker 1What , what a trip ? Huh , I don't remember it . No it was a trip . You know . What really stood out to me is that I'm such a weak swimmer .
Speaker 3And I remember , oh , I'm remembering that .
Speaker 1Were we in Fiji , or was it Tahiti , Cook Islands , the Cook Islands ? Okay . So I said , man , hey , I'd like to be able to kind of hold it was one of our guides . I'd like to just kind of hold onto your shoulder where we're kind of swimming . He's all no , you can stand . I'm like , yeah well , I'm not the strongest swimmer , and he goes no , but you can stand . You literally can stand . We're not taking you out to deep end . You don't have much of a weak swimmer . I actually am .
Speaker 2Is this the ocean or a swimming pool ? That was the ocean .
Speaker 1Yeah , it was the ocean . So he allowed me to just kind of hold onto his shoe . One time it was his flipper , whatever that is , and then it made things worse . At one time he's trying to swim down with the um , what are those ? The ?
Speaker 3turtles , turtles , did you try ?
Speaker 1standing .
Speaker 2I tried it didn't work for me . Deep it was a half a foot . Was it very clear water ? Tahiti had incredibly clear water .
Speaker 3That's where easy got stung . Well , I'll tell you guys , you know it's , it's crazy how you can envision yourself doing something and then you find yourself doing it and it's nothing like you thought it was going to be . Because I remember I don't know if you guys remember , but the cook islands , they had gone out to test the waters and they came back and they said , man , the current is really intense and we're not sure . And then we're like , oh , and we're , I'm looking out , I'm like looks fine , no big deal . Man , I'll tell you , I I thought I was gonna drown because , my , because my legs , well ,
they gave me the stupid fin thingies and I could , I couldn't figure out , and my legs were cramping up , you mean you guys know , I have one chicken .
Speaker 2What's that ?
Speaker 3it's not fin things flippers , flippers yeah and you know I have one chicken leg because I had polio when I was a kid , so my left leg is weak and I'm like ah , and I'm cramping and the current was intense . I kept feeling I was , yeah , seriously , and then I get stung by that jellyfish .
Speaker 4I just remember looking up and seeing easy like full-blown , trying to get down as low as possible , and I don't think he ever broke the surface floor .
Speaker 3It was hard to go down , it was ridiculous . I don't get it either . I don't understand how to do it Flippers or yeah , so I remember swimming underneath you .
Speaker 1At one point I was like 20 feet down below us , just so you were diving is that what was going ?
Speaker 3we were snorkeling , snorkeling but it was , it was an intense current and they were taking us like on the circuit and I was getting angry because these guys were like the , the tour guides or whatever they were like .
Speaker 2This is nothing for that it was great whatever oscar I have to tell you , I was snorkelingling in Hawaii and I was with the director of a missionary thing and he went down snorkeling and I put my hand on the top of his snorkel thing and I said to myself he's going to come up any minute .
Speaker 3You did not , Ray , I did and he came up I haven't been asked back what it's like when you told that and he went down and he sniffed and he came up choking and stuff Always causing trouble Ray . Speaker 3Rim yeah , get yourself that bobblehead friends . Okay . So we've done a lot of seasons I mean , this was our 10th and what we really wanted to do was , first of all , we wanted to trace Ray Comfort's footsteps , in a sense , his tiny little footsteps .
Speaker 1Teeny tiny little footsteps .
Speaker 3Little baby steps , booties , yeah , and so that was , and I will get to New Zealand , but it was what a journey it was . Honestly , for me , it was in many ways revolutionary because I was able to really get a sense for what God did through your reign , especially when we were in New Zealand . I think that was the highlight moment for us in different ways . But , yeah , we started off and it was a lot of planning , it was a lot of orchestrating and we launched , took off and we landed in Tahiti . That's where it was first , did you ?
Speaker 4get there before us . Oscar , I did . I got there one day earlier because there was an opportunity . Eddie Roman , our producer , found an opportunity in which there was a bunch of young adults that were there on mission and we got to host a mini one-day evangelism class in which we taught them how to preach the gospel , use the law , and it was amazing , they were all really encouraged by . A handful of them were already following Living Waters and others were hearing the idea of using law and evangelism for the very first time , and yeah , so I went out one day early to do that , yeah .
Speaker 3Yeah , and then we caught up with you . We got there and , yeah , you know , ray , you went to Tahiti as a teenager .
Speaker 2Yes , I , had a rich aunt and uncle that put us on a pleasure cruiser called the Flavia . That wasn't anything like pleasure cruisers , it's like a little dingy compared to them . But we went to Tahiti , fiji , samoa and I think it was yeah , it was a great time .
Speaker 3Yeah , and I didn't fully grasp this . I'm thinking Tahiti , it's its own country , but in essence it's a part of France . I guess it's called French Polynesia , right , kind of that region , that area , and it was so neat to land there and to see missionaries serving . And I wanna say this because it's important . Again , people think this . Because it's important , like , again , people think , oh , it's an exotic place , and they almost feel guilty going there because it's like you know , we always joke , oh , I'm gonna go be a missionary in Hawaii , you know , or whatever . But hey , people there need the gospel and it's not all that you think , it is all . This paradise there's .
Speaker 3You , you know , in a lot of these places there's a deep history of demonic activity , you know , tied in with the , the local and tribal religions and man . They , they face intense spiritual warfare , intense attacks , and so , anyway , we didn't know what to expect . This was , this was our go , there was obviously beauty in that place . And then we hit the first day . We get out of our vehicles , we're heading toward a marketplace , which is where we were going to go , and then our friends who were there guiding us ran into someone and , oscar , I'd love for you to take it from there .
Speaker 4Yeah , it was amazing and this is a testament to you Easy , being ready , always in season and out , so let's call it a staging area . We get out of our cars and we're getting mic'd up and we're ready to go walk maybe a couple hundred yards away from us into a market center where we're planning to preach the gospel one-on-one , in both open air and passing by us as this group of people . Mind you , it's like 11.30 , 12 o'clock in the afternoon and they were going home from partying the night before . Um seemed intoxicated . Two of them were dressed as women and you , ready in season and out , started preaching the gospel and remind me you . Right before starting to talk to them , it was pointed out that one of them was a female , or afterwards .
Speaker 3Yeah Well , I was heading toward the encounter and I'm thinking , okay , well , you know , okay , I'm going to witness to this woman , and then our friend says , um , that's a man , by the way . I'm like what .
Speaker 1How did he know ? Because he definitely did not look like a female , didn't look like it , didn't look like a male . Yeah , he didn't look like a female , yeah .
Speaker 3And I , you know , they just kind of I think they have a sense for that because they see it so often and so , yeah , so we walk up and I'm like , okay , well , what do I do , Ray ? You always , you always , people always throw this at you . How do you witness to this kind of person ? How do you witness to that kind of person ? How do you witness to these kinds of people ? What's your answer , Ray ? Just like everybody else , that's right right you have to lie .
Speaker 3Yeah , you just share the gospel . There's no partiality in that , you know , and we don't have to focus in right Ray on whatever it is , whether it's homosexuality or transgenderism .
Speaker 2You want the ear . You don't want to poke them in the eye .
Speaker 3Yeah , and what do you always say ? They're damned despite their homosexuality or transgenderism . So you can use the law to bring the knowledge of sin and then bring the gospel in , so yeah . So I started the conversation and it was cool .
Speaker 4You did exactly that and , mark , you probably remember this person started out very flamboyant and obnoxious and there was a moment when , when easy was being faithful . We're like sobriety set in . You remember that ? I don't .
Speaker 1No .
Speaker 3I remember it distinctly because there was a lot of yeah , giddiness and like light hardness , and then I started going through a lot and then it was like this whoa this yeah , this calm . I remember that you remember that ? Yeah , right Watched it . Yeah ,
so Tahiti was really great . And then , mark , I'd love you to talk about the time we had with those folks where we sat around and instructed them in evangelism .
Speaker 1Oh , the students at the Bible college , right ? Oh yeah , what a treat . People that were not necessarily equipped in the area of using the law . Listen , living Waters kind of has a two part message . Right , use the law of God to bring the knowledge of sin and stop using life enhancement as a drawcard for salvation , because you'll have people that will respond to that message in an experimental fashion to see if the claims are true . Is Jesus better than MTV ? Is he better than the latest fad or the toothpaste that I tried yesterday ?
Speaker 1People need to come to Christ because they have sinned against a holy God and because of that sin , they've been weighed in . The balances have been found lacking . They do not have the righteousness required of the law to stand before a holy God . Therefore , they will be judged Sin , judgment and righteousness . So to stand there in front of those students and to open up the law of God for the purpose for which it was designed .
Speaker 1You can see them agreeing with you , because how many times have we tried to win somebody to Christ by just trying to say that he's better than whatever it is that you're going through , whatever you're experiencing ? But that's not how you evangelize . We give law to the proud and we give grace to the humble . So it always starts off and it's without fail . The people are watching and they're like huh , wait , what are you getting ? But what about ? And their heads are turning because they can't compute what they've been doing and what they've been taught , necessarily . And then as you open up Scripture , because that is our ultimate source of authority , heads begin to nod , people begin to agree and they see really how easy it is to evangelize , because the onus is now left on Christ , not on you , to try to save someone . Salvation belongs to the Lord . Give a lot of the proud , give grace to the humble , leave the results to God . God is not calling you to be fruitful , he's calling you to be faithful .
Speaker 3Amen . And then I don't know if you guys remember , but there was a guy who just happened to come and sit down with the students and he had questions and he starts kind of peppering us with questions and we tried to engage with him in that . You know , ray , through the years you've dealt with hecklers and we dealt with that on this trip , I think , of Australia in particular . We had a pretty intense heckler that you engaged with , mark , but , ray , you don't see hecklers as a negative .
Speaker 2No , hecklers are a positive . Jesus had hecklers all the time . We read in Scripture where hecklers came to him . We don't see the passion . This was open air , huge crowds . Jesus would have lifted his voice like a trumpet to show this people their transgression . And those Pharisees who asked him and accused him would have done so with passion and volume , and that's probably why the crowd also came to see what was going to happen here . How would Jesus answer this ? And we've got some of our greatest truths in Scripture because some heckler asked a particular question or brought some accusation . So hecklers can take a crowd of 20 people to 100 people in two minutes if they use correctly .
Speaker 2And the way to use them correctly is just to provoke them to a point where they don't hit you .
Speaker 4I want to commend the Christians that were there that day , because I think so often when we want to start preaching the gospel , we think , man , I'm not ready . I need to spend the next year studying , preparing , memorizing , reading , watching YouTube videos , and on and on and on . We'll go for months thinking we're preparing ourselves , but really we're procrastinating . And these individuals , faithful Christians , showed up . We spent what an hour or two with them and they were out there with tracks , preaching the gospel and getting into conversations with individuals faithfully going forward with the truth of God's word and that's our joy , friends , and that's why we do what we do as a ministry .
Speaker 3We exist to inspire and equip Christians in fulfilling the Great Commission , and you think of the millions over the years that have been impacted through Way of the Master all around the world . I mean , it started way back when Ray with you and Kirk yes , 2002 or 2003 .
Speaker 3Yeah , and from there , so many people have come to Christ , so many people have come out of false doctrine and friends along with that . So many people have been activated to proclaim the gospel . That's our joy and our thrill . We don't just give you instruction , ray , hasn't just written books on the subject , or we've done training courses saying here's what you do , we show you how we do it . That creates that sort of inspiration because , wow , they can do it , I can do it , and so that's a part of what you're standing with us to do is to continue to get that out there and also , ray , to show people that the gospel is applicable everywhere , that the law is transcendent .
Speaker 2Yeah , that's why I went to Europe and preached 13 episodes in 13 countries in 13 days , to show that , no matter what culture you go into , as long as you're culturally sensitive , you can preach the same gospel , because God's given the same people the same conscience everywhere .
Speaker 3Amen , yeah , all right . So from Tahiti we went to Fiji . How do you say Fiji Ray in New Zealand-ish ? Fiji , fiji , yeah .
Speaker 2We went to Fiji .
Speaker 3We can say Fiji , fiji , fiji , fiji , don't keep saying it . We drink Fiji water here every day . Okay , so , man , Fiji you guys .

Speaker 2And they were like if you want to watch something wonderful , watch fijians play rugby the crowd of fijians and it's just amazing . They will cheer anything . They'll cheer even if they're losing . Yeah , they just go they're such nice people .
Speaker 3Yeah , ray , in new zealand you guys , there were a lot of fijians yes , a lot of fijians in new zealand yeah , they were your buddies . Yeah , so , uh , so fiji , fiji had some unforgettable stuff . I mean , I can't wait for people to watch this , you guys , so , so , um mark , what was your vibe for fiji like ? What was your sense of it ?
Speaker 1I'm trying because the trip was so fast . I'm trying to remember what we did in each thing .
Speaker 2Look , Mark , I just got to jump in here . You mocked me many years ago because I'd be traveling most weekends and I'd forget what happened two weeks before that and I remember you mocking me and the same things happened to you . You've got a clue what happened three weeks ago ?

Speaker 1So I remember the Bula Bula . I remember you going crazy and making everybody laugh and handing gospel tracts out to everybody . What else did we do after that ? We took oh , this is where you had the vehicle right and you were witnessing .

Speaker 3Islands , that's Cook Islands . Do you remember ? It's all a blur . It's all a blur mark you remember in fiji we went to that training , that , that bible school , yeah you , you talked to those students that's what I was talking about earlier what

Speaker 3No , it was those , that group of people , that , that were I gave that story earlier yeah , yeah , yeah , oh boy , mark , okay , forget Mark , oscar , let's go , let's go to PETA .
Speaker 4PETA yeah . So we we got finished having lunch and we walk out , and it was funny . Again , this is a testament to how our plans , when it seems to be falling apart , actually the Lord is at work . So we planned on walking out and there was , like , this facility we wanted to get in one-on-one conversations with , and almost immediately , before we can even talk to anybody , security came out and was like you can't , you can't do that here , it was a religious organization , a cult , owned the property , and so myself and I think one other one of our camera guys walk across the street and it happened to be Fijian day .
Speaker 4Remember that detail . Fijian day is like Fiji day . Yeah , yeah , uh , it's their independence day and there's all these , uh , individuals outside , you know , drinking and laughing and whatever . And I walk up to this guy and his name's Pita , and Pita is the size of a building . He was just . He was just strong and massive . I shook his hand and it was like probably what it feels like when Ray shakes people's hands . It was just like this tiny . My hand was just this tiny little thing in his mitt , you know .
Speaker 2He'd be a rugby player .
Speaker 4He would be a rugby player . And I start , you know , talking to him preaching the gospel and he just starts bawling his eyes out and I mean like waterfall . Oh yeah , they were just like Just coming down and I walk him through the law and the gospel and we pray , and when we're done I remember him saying what do I do now ? What do I do now ? And his family is behind him and I go why don't you go tell them , preach the gospel to them ? And then he says behind him and I go why don't you go tell them , preach the gospel to them ? And then he says will you tell my chief ?
Speaker 4So , sidebar , the way culturally this works is there's usually somebody that owns a lot of a plot of land and they will allow people to come and live on that land and they build basically these shacks out of 10 . I mean they you can hardly call them a home , but there's like a hierarchy . If you upset the chief , they can kick you off of their land and you have to live outside of it , which is a shame . It's like a shame culture . Peta had been kicked off of that land , so he was living just outside of the chief's home , and another sidebar is that you're not allowed to talk to the chief unless you're invited in to talking to the chief . You don't just get the right to talk to him .
Speaker 4And so PETA is saying will you tell my chief ? Will you tell my chief ? He grabs my arm and he starts walking us over to the chief's home and I remember like , as he had my arm with him , I'm like man , if this guy got crazy , would I be able to escape ? Like I felt , like I can . I just couldn't move . He was just a monster . So he walks us over I'm about to turn it over to you he walks us over to the property and we walk over to the chief's home and the chief wasn't there . And we walk over to the chief's home and the chief wasn't there , but his wife and mother was .

And to see you unashamedly talk about who God is and the law , and then the gospel , and Christ crucified , it just made . I mean , if that was the only thing we did , it would have made the whole trip absolutely worth it .
Speaker 4And as you're preaching , PETA is behind you . Still crying , Crying and like yes .
Speaker 3Jesus amen , yes , well what really touched me was the chief's wife was in tears and I said to her what's going on right now and she said I just feel like you're speaking directly to me . I said I wasn't going to do that , man , but like and you , you think about all the things that connected , that made that happen . It was amazing , ray . I wanted to ask you in New Zealand obviously you guys have the native people there , the Maoris , maoris , maoris Was evangelism to them ? Different
or same principles ?
Speaker 2Same principle , exactly . The Maoris have got an idolatrous history of idols and cannibalism and the Maori Oris were eaten by the Maoris . They were before the Maoris and the Maoris came , and then missionaries went to New Zealand and a number of the missionaries were eaten .
Speaker 1Wow , that's not a merry time , is it no ?
Speaker 2it's scary , but yeah , we'd love to see a great move among the Maoris .
Speaker 3Yeah , amen , all right , from Tahiti to Fiji , to Australia , which is a small island off the coast of New Zealand . Yeah , don't forget that , mate . So we get to Australia . Mark , you and I had been to Australia before . I think we went to Brisbane , if I remember , and we did a conference there , so this was our second time there . And boy , australia was fun . So you remember , oscar , we went to that natural or like a zoo kind of place .
Speaker 4Yeah , my favorite thing is we went to Melbourne , which is the mecca of third wave coffee .
Speaker 3Oh no , so that was the highlight for me . I mean , if we're going to talk about Australia , I hear it's the Mecca of creamer like flavored creamer .
Speaker 4Yeah , you guys . I don't know if it's because I'm the new guy on the block , but somehow I pulled the short straw and had to get into a cage . With what kind of bird was that ? Kookaburra .
Speaker 2Kookaburra .
Speaker 4And so it's sitting on my arm and the lady's feeding it and I'm like what are you feeding it ? She goes oh , it's rat guts . And minutes later it starts flapping the rat guts and one of them just lands perfectly into my eyeball .
Speaker 3That was such a joyous moment for me . Was it your highlight ?
Speaker 2Imagine if your vision improved and that became something special for people . Rat got in the eye .
Speaker 4It was a huge honor . They said it was a huge honor . It was a sign .
Speaker 2It was no when the kookaburra started laughing .
Speaker 1That was really cool .
Speaker 3Mark , you were hanging with the kangaroos in there .
Speaker 1Dude the kangaroos are intimidating .
Speaker 1I just remember the kangaroos Kind of on the ground and it jumped up and it was just like muscles on top of muscles on top of muscles . I remember I had the opportunity to speak to the San Diego Chargers excuse me , the Denver Broncos before they played the Chargers , and I went up to one of their all-pro men and I put my hand on his shoulder and I was talking to him like this and I was like what is that ? How do you have muscles there ? And there were just muscles on top of it . Well , that's what this kangaroo was , just muscles on top of muscles . And it was like I don't know if I want to really do this anymore .
Speaker 1And I don't remember what we talked about , why we were even there .
Speaker 3But it was obviously we were preaching the gospel to every creature . Kangaroos need to be saved too , Mark .
Speaker 4Easy . You tried to pet a Tasmanian devil .
Speaker 3Oh man , that's right , I wish I even tried . I was just like talking about it and I'm standing in the enclosure and my hand kind of went in . They're like no , I'm like what they're like . That thing will bite your arm off .
Speaker 3Well they called that easy , it's a clue Tasmanian devil , the cartoons Remember , he was like the tornado . Anyway , that was really neat . But the highlight obviously of Australia was was preaching the gospel . We went to Melbourne , we went to Brisbane , we went to Sydney and what was cool for me in Sydney was it's kind of like a metropolis , I mean , you got people coming from everywhere , and so when we were preaching the gospel , across from the opera house , you know , there were people I think Bangladesh , if I remember , but they were there , you know , and they actually he just proposed to her oh yeah , and then I walk up and then I did their wedding right there and then , seeing if you're paying attention , I was like , but it was really cool just to share the gospel with them . And Mark , you had some intense open air preaching where there was a heckler that you and it was demonic , you don't remember there was a heckler that you don't remember , and it was demonic , wasn't it ?
Speaker 2There was some demonic manifestation behind you , some guy smashing a phone .
Speaker 3Oh yeah , the guy crossed the way smashing the phone oh yeah , that's right , sweet gentleman .
Speaker 1But it was neat because we had a couple of guys , a couple of friends from Australia that were there , plus all the other people that were there , but Ben Price was there and Chris was there . Stanford and this Stanford Inn this is what they go through on the regular . And so I remember getting up there and preaching and trying not to be distracted by a guy who was bashing a phone booth with the phone and trying to utilize that as an illustration , right , talking about a demonic presence and what's going on , and we just get angry at the world , whatnot , and then just not being distracted , going right back to preaching the gospel , because that draws a crowd and , like Ray says , crowds draw crowds .
Speaker 4Yeah , that guy actually worked for the phone company .
Speaker 1He did , he was frustrated .
Speaker 4You know , I had sort of a revelatory , like a discovery moment in Australia because , if you guys remember , it was really hard to get people to have a conversation with you . And we talked to a local and they said you know somebody who grew up in the States and then moved to Australia . Australia had been there 20 , 30 years and I asked him what's the difference between American culture and Australian culture ? And one of the things he said is in Australia you do not talk about faith or politics . It's very not okay . And every time I try to come up with a conversation with somebody , they would push back and go . I don't want to talk about faith and politics . And I remember these two ladies both of them we have this on camera both of them were atheists . I think they were in a relationship with one another .
Speaker 4Oh , I remember that I think one of them may have been a male , but they said no to talking to me . And then I said I said , hey , listen , um , one thing I want to see is if we can put on display tolerance . I said , because we always talk about tolerance , um , but we see people they disagree . Do you think you and I could talk about this ? And I learned from you and you learned from me , and if we agree , great , but if we disagree , can we do it in a way that shows tolerance ? And both of them were like yeah , yeah , I can be tolerant .
Speaker 4You were speaking their language . I was I used an idol of culture , tolerance , to get them to have a conversation with me . And it was an amazing conversation . One of them again , both of them said they were atheists At the end of it . One of them was a little emotional and she goes , man , you know , sometimes I wish there was someone there who knew me and loved me and we have that on camera .
Speaker 3Yeah , that was a real powerful moment . Yeah , we preached the gospel on Bondi Beach .
Speaker 3Bondi Beach , yes , yeah which is a famous beach , and we got a decent good crowd there and that was amazing . Again , sydney was amazing we got to meet up with and there were people that came out to Bondi Beach , you know , that followed the ministry and listened to the podcast . It was so neat . And then we had that big crowd at the restaurant of people that support and follow Living Waters that we were able to have dinner with and encourage and build up in the Lord Esli one of our caricature artists- yeah .
Speaker 3Esli was there . It was just . It was amazing and , ray , that's a part of your history . I mean you did a lot of preaching in Australia in the early days .
Speaker 2Yeah , first time I ever preached Hell's Best Kept Secret publicly outside of a local church was in Brisbane , australia , a big conference About 400 or 500 people were there for the Commonwealth Games outreach , so I stayed there for a month . Yeah , so I stayed there for a month and I stayed at a place called we thought it was Capalaba , but it was Capalaba we were pronouncing it wrong for two weeks Like .
Speaker 3Ceratops and Taco Bell . Yeah , we know , ray . Yeah , all right . Well , in a few minutes , friends , about four minutes or so , we're going to do Q&A Again . Send in your questions and be ready because we're going to do that . But we hit New Zealand . New Zealand again was my highlight , because what you're going to see in New Zealand is we went to the place where Ray first got a hold of the use of the law and evangelism . It was a church he spoke at . We went to the rectory they call it where you stayed with the family , and we went into the room that Ray was reading the sermon by Spurgeon and just got hit by it . And that was magical , mark .
Speaker 1That was probably . Well it was . It was the highlight of the entire trip . Right , because I've heard Ray preach Hell's Best Kept Secret a gazillion times . Right , and even memorize huge chunks of it . Taught Hell's Best Kept Secret myself , with no attribution , even memorize huge chunks of it . Taught Hell's Best .

Speaker 1Thank you , when Ray received the golden plates right , where Ray just had the idea that epiphany of using the law and seeing Spurgeon utilize the law . And then going across the street to these hot springs where Ray shares the gospel with this gentleman inside the hot spring . For me , I remember just stepping away and getting by myself and I remember just crying , right Just beside myself , thanking the Lord for giving me good , solid theology , good understanding of the importance of the use of the law , to use it as a tutor , a schoolmaster , the purpose for which it was designed . And when was that ? I mean , ray , how many years ago
was that ? That was when you received 1982 , september of 82 .
Speaker 2The chronology was I read Spurgeon's sermon that blew me away with just a tiny portion of a sermon where he says what will you do when the law comes in terror , when the trumpet of the archangel shall tear you from your grave , when the eyes of God shall burn into your guilty soul and all the books shall be opened and all your sin and shame shall be punished ? Can you stand against an angry law in that day ? I remember going . That's a little different from . God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life .
Speaker 2And then I tucked it in my memory banks and then about two days later , I was up at what was called the Mance , which is the house that the preacher stays in at the small Presbyterian church and that one room at the back . That's when I read Galatians 3.24 and misread it in my subconscious . The law was a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ . I read it the law was a schoolmaster to bring Israel to Christ and I said it doesn't say that . It says us . And so I thought well , let's see if it works . That's when I went to the hot springs .
Speaker 3Yeah , it was amazing to go to the actual hot springs where Ray first used the law and evangelism and that just changed everything . And it was great . We just went , we went to Christ Church and we preached , you know , near the square and the bridge , I mean it was , and the wizard and the wizard , I got to interview the wizard and Ray's family . We got to see Ray's family go to his sister's house . His brother gave commentary . We went to the neighborhood where Ray grew up .
Speaker 4I mean , it was they made me eat Marmite .
Speaker 3Oh yeah , a spoonful , and to this day I get the chills when I think of that whole trip and we don't look , we're going to get into Q&A . But Cook Islands was awesome . Mark Reddy gave us a highlight of that and I got stung by a jellyfish . Yeah , I got stung by that crazy jellyfish and we had great encounters there , of course , with that gentleman that didn't want to take us on the tour . That day he went grudgingly and then I shared the gospel with him while he was taking this around and at the end he's like man . He's like I'm going to thank that lady's scared to see me , who gave me the job today . He said , but I'm going to thank her that I came because I needed to hear this .

So anyway , friends , it was an amazing , amazing journey , definitely one for the history books , and we're excited for all of you to see it and , again , to get behind us and help us to finish funding it all , and then also to help us to do more . Speaker 1So the first question how did the idea for filming Way of the Master even come about ? All right to begin with . Whose idea was it to film ? We're in season 10 . Yeah , ray , take us back .
Speaker 2I have to back up . Kirk Cameron heard Hell's Best Gap Secret wanted to combine ministries and for a whole year he kept saying to me again and again on the phone on the phone how can we get the teaching to the church , how can we get it to the church ? And we had no idea . Even kirk with a celebrity , just didn't have any ideas how to get it to the church . And then he was on tbn , um network , and uh , he was supposed to teach and I'm not supposed to be interviewed . A guy didn't show up so he got me on and in the interview and then he taught hell's best kept secret from my notes on my Bible my and website crashed over a million hits or whatever was called then and TVN said come back and do this again , do some more teaching . He said no , we'll produce a television program teaching Christians how to share their faith biblically and we named it the Way of the Master after one of the chapters in the book , the Way of the Master .
Speaker 3Wow .
Speaker 2And that's how it came about .
Speaker 3Yeah , you just think about those connections . You know , kirk used to call the ministry under his first and middle name , kirk Thomas , and we had no idea who he was , but he was ordering resources . And that's because , mark , you gave him a CD of Hell's Best Kept Secret or a cassette or whatever it was at the CBA , the Christian Booksellers Association , and he listened to it and then started ordering and then it impacted his life . Finally came that day met and man to think of what the Lord has done since then . 10 seasons later , millions of people around the world , almost every country in the world , has had Way the Master play in it . So it's exciting , yeah , so there you have it .

Speaker 4I do . I have a really strong accent . My mom was the first of her siblings to be born in the United States . Speak Spanish . I do , I have a really strong accent . I'm the . Speaker 3Yeah , so it's just I have a strong . American accent . I have a better Mexican accent than Oscar , even though it's fake Spanish . For those who don't know , that was not Spanish . I have no idea what it was .

Speaker 2Yes and no . I prefer open air preaching by myself . I always have , because when you've got someone with you and you fluff it , you fluff it in front of them , so you're less likely to make a fool of yourself if you've got nobody that you know watching .
Speaker 3That's so weird , Ray , because I'm so used to you all these years preaching with a team and we'd go out with you .
Speaker 2Yeah , I preached alone for about 12 years by yourself , almost every day .
Speaker 3Yeah , yourself almost every day . Yeah , yeah , I understand that that dynamic you know doing it yourself because you're prideful , yeah , so , um , yeah , right , yeah , right , lord , why did you give me this arab son-in-law ?
Speaker 1yeah , next question hey guys , how would you recommend spending downtime at home ? I have a lot of time to waste and I don't want to waste it , yeah .
Speaker 3Downtime . What is that ? What is downtime ? It'd be great to know what that is .
Speaker 2Yeah , edit videos on your computer .
Speaker 2You still do that in bed , right , yeah , I do it in bed every night and during the day and I watch rugby with an ear plug in so I can edit . And what is it ? Shorts on YouTube . Someone took one of our shorts and it's got 6.4 million views . They just edited and we like people doing that . We just mentioned in a podcast that we recorded that your heart shapes your worship and your heart is shaped by your life . We just mentioned in a podcast that we recorded that your heart shapes your worship and your heart is shaped by your habits , and your habits are the things that are happening when no one's around , and so that is , again , the most important time for your own heart , and I would say , along with opportunities to use video to share the gospel , pick up the habit of reading , the habit of prayer and meditation , the habit of scripture memorization . If you're sitting at home and your downtime is doom , scrolling , video game playing , streaming , your heart is being shaped and discipled by those things , and so your downtime is some of the most important time that you have . Spend it honoring the Lord .
Speaker 3Yeah .
Speaker 4Amen .
Speaker 2Redeem the time , make your downtime your uptime .
Speaker 3Yeah , I would say , like it says in Ephesians redeem the time , because the days are evil . Buy up the time and look . If you treat time like money and you just spend it , you waste it . But if you treat it like money and invest it , you're going to get a return . Invest it in eternal things , Invest it in spiritual things and , like Oscar said , man , you can memorize scripture . Your word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you . How can a young man keep his way pure ? By keeping it according to your word . And so you have the living word of God . Make use of it and internalize it . Study , watch videos on things that are going to enhance your ability to share the gospel . Look , there's nothing wrong with recreation and enjoying some cat videos if you like cats .
Speaker 2I like cats , matt likes cats , you like cats ?
Speaker 3I love , cats I love .
Speaker 1That's terrible .
Speaker 2Also go out witnessing . Just take your dog for a walk around the block and take some tracks with you and when you meet someone say , excuse me , I've got a question for you . Do you think there's life after death ?
Speaker 3Yeah .
Speaker 2If you make a habit of doing that , you'll redeem the time . Amen the one soul is wise .
Speaker 3Yeah , and look , I think a good key principle to keep in mind is priority . Right , so it's okay to recreate , it's okay to enjoy movies and games and whatnot , but priority Do the spiritual first and make that the priority and then , if you've really invested spiritually , then you can enjoy those things . And it's kind of like dessert after dinner . You enjoy it more after you've eaten a meal . I think Now I dine as a chocolate cake .
Speaker 1Boy , you've got the longest answers , aren't they cute . You know , idle time is the devil's workshop . So what I like to do is write out what I'm going to do the next day , at least the previous night , so you wake up with a purpose . Yeah , you don't sleep in . I like that . Can women share the gospel with men ? Can women share the gospel with men ? Can women share the gospel with men ? Let me go first on this . You know , I think it's kind of inferred there in John chapter 4 , with the woman at the well that she didn't go back to the women and say what great things God has done , because she was a bit of an outcast . That's why she was at the well in the heat , because the other women are not going to the well at that time . So she undoubtedly went to men , more than likely , if we were to kind of look into that text a little bit , I think . And I think that she shared the good news of what God had done , you know .
Speaker 2With the men she knew .
Speaker 1probably that's right with the men that she knew . It's not always men with men and women with women . I think that we can build a case that God desires all men everywhere to be saved and to repent .
Speaker 2I would say , ladies , don't witness to a guy in a dark alley .
Speaker 1Yeah , it was wisdom , right yeah .
Speaker 4I think the question is rooted in complementarianism , and I think you know the four of us would agree . Complementarianism is defined as authority within the context of the local church and preaching on a Sunday behind the pulpit , which means application . Yeah , women can proclaim the gospel to men . And just one other example Mary is the first person not just woman , the first person to proclaim a resurrected Savior , and she did that to the disciples , who were all men , and so the Scripture certainly gives precedence . And then another one , which is the Great Commission . Nowhere in the Great Commission does it indicate that it's limited towards men . This is the reason why the Lord saves you and keeps you is for you to proclaim the gospel .
Speaker 3And yeah , be encouraged , amen . Very good , all right .
Speaker 1What is a good way to introduce the gospel to my unsaved atheistic family ? I've got a good answer . Well , we'll be the judge of that , yeah let's see Easy .
Speaker 2What are you going to say ?
Speaker 3I was going to say relational evangelism , build up friendship over a long period of time 20 , 30 years .
Speaker 2Grab one of our videos where an atheist changes his mind and show it to your family , but don't say to them I want you to watch this . Say I'd love to know what you think of this Appeal to the ego , and they won't feel intimidated by you if you say I'd like to know what you think of this and also be rich in good works . Buy them gifts when it's not Christmas .
Speaker 3Yeah , or birthdays . That's good , ray , oscar , when you think back to your atheist days . If you could engineer someone sharing the gospel with you in the most effective way , what would you say ? That would be like .
Speaker 4Yeah , I would say two things , but first to answer your question , I think it's important to recognize that people are not atheists , ultimately , because they have some argument against God . They're atheists because they love their sin . And then I would say , to proclaim the gospel , to use apologetics and evangelism in a beautiful way . Ultimately , what that person needs to do , as CS Lewis puts it , is to fall in love , to fall in love with their Lord and Savior . And that's what happened to me . I did not have all the answers to my atheism .
Speaker 4The person who proclaimed the gospel they didn't say anything new that night . They weren't a particularly good communicator . They didn't present a good argument . They didn't even give me any new data or information that I hadn't already heard . I knew about the substitutionary atonement . I could articulate the substitutionary atonement . I just thought it was archaic and barbaric at that time . But when this person faithfully proclaimed the gospel it was my time the Lord softened my heart and opened my eyes and I saw it in a whole new light , like falling in love . And then the second thing I would say is for years my grandma , faithfully on her knees , wept and prayed for me every single night . And so , while evangelism takes action . It's also supported by a lot of time in prayer over those people .
Speaker 3Yeah , amen . And also you have to remember Romans . Chapter 1 tells us that really , there's really no such thing as an atheist right God doesn't believe in atheists , right yeah . And that everyone knows God , not in a salvific sense , but everyone is familiar with the reality of His existence . God has made it evident to them through all that he's made , so that they are without excuse . But what they're doing is they're suppressing the truth in unrighteousness . So you're not trying to prove to them God exists . They know he exists . You're telling them about the God they know exists but are choosing to act like he doesn't . And so you have the ally of the conscience . You bring the law
to bear . Like we said , you witness to everyone in the same way , generally speaking . Of course , everyone's different and you can allude to different things that relate to atheism .
Speaker 2Just regarding what Oscar was saying about falling in love with the Lord , it sounds kind of nebulous until you realize it's the cross that causes us to fall in love with Him . We love Him because he first loved us .
Speaker 3Yeah , and that's the biggest catalyst for evangelism . I mean , what's it ? Say that you may know what is the width , the length , the depth , the height , to know the love of Christ which passes , knowledge that you may be filled with all the fullness of God . And there's no greater evangelism than what I call outflow evangelism , overflow evangelism . It's just because you're in love with him and you know his love and you can't help but tell the world , Amen , Right .
Speaker 1Next question . I struggle often with not feeling worthy of being saved because of my past mistakes . Any advice ?
Speaker 2guys . Yeah , I'd like to give advice . You're not worthy . None of us are worthy . That's what grace is . That's what a merit of favor is . Remember the centurion was told of the Jews , told Jesus of . The centurion said he is , he's worthy because he built us a synagogue . And he came to Jesus . And twice he said I'm not worthy , not even worthy . And so that's the key to Christianity You're not worthy . It all comes by God's grace . So you don't need to feel bad about your past mistakes . They're all washed away as far as the east is , from the west .
Speaker 3Worthy is the lamb . That's right . Yeah , we have to remember that . And just remember that . Look , christ came to the world to save sinners . I mean Paul , speaking of himself in that context , called himself the chief of sinners . Acknowledging , though , though , that Christ came , and he says in Galatians , who loved me and gave himself for me Wow , and that's the greatest love that can ever be known . And so , look , sometimes we get deceived into thinking it's humility to say , oh , I'm not worthy , I'm not worthy , but it's really pride , because what we're saying in essence is , we have something to contribute to our salvation , but when you look and say , no , I'm so unworthy that only God can save me , and then you look away from yourself to the Lord , and he becomes the Lord , your righteousness .
Speaker 1You know it's funny when you talk to people that are struggling with this , they'll often say you know , I just I don't deserve a second chance . You didn't deserve a first chance . You know , it's simply not about you . Yeah .
Speaker 4I love to reframe the way we see ourselves through the lens of the gospel and a quote by JI Packer comes to mind . If you haven't read his book Knowing God , highly recommend it , especially the chapter on adoption . And he has this quote in which he says I'm going to butcher it , but it's something to the effect of like adoption is the highest regard of the gospel , and he refers to the atonement . He says to be forgiven by God is good , but to be loved by God , the Father , is the greatest . And the point that he's making there is that recognize , like we inherit heaven , we inherit God . What does God inherit Us ? Think about that , you and I .
Speaker 4The scriptures in Deuteronomy calls us his prized possession Out of all of creation . Think about all of the amazing creatures that roam all of the land , all of the amazing creatures that roam all of the land , all of the amazing creatures that swim around in the ocean . Think about all the galaxies and solar systems and suns and et cetera , et cetera . All of it belongs to him and Deuteronomy tells us that you and I , as his saved children , are his prized possession . To view ourselves in the lens of the gospel , to be able to understand and , as I love the way Jonathan Edward puts it . He basically says like there's nothing particularly special about you . He says when a man picks out gems from stones , he picks them because they're beautiful , they stand out from other stones , but when God picks you , there's nothing particularly special . What makes you a gem is that he has chosen you and you therefore become his prized .
Speaker 1Yeah , I heard somebody that's so beautiful , Oscar . I heard somebody say what do you collect ? What are your hobbies ? What do you collect ? Some of you collect stamps . I like easy collects cars . Well , what is it that ? Jets , Mark Jets , you always get it wrong , I apologize . What do you collect ? Well , God collects things as well . He's got a dust collection because we were made of dirt . The very thing that we get rid of , the very thing that we destroy , the very thing that we do not want inside of our house , is the thing that God collects , and it's a paradox , right ? It makes no sense in our kingdom , but in God's . It does , Amen . Last question Is there ever a time that we shouldn't tell a stranger about Jesus ? Are we to tell everyone every time we meet someone , or is it only as we are led by the Holy Spirit ?
Speaker 2I like to answer this with Scripture Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature . But what does the word go mean ?
Speaker 3Actually in the original .
Speaker 2original means go Whoa . What about every ? Every in the original means every .
Speaker 1That's the original Greek if you study it closely .
Speaker 2Wowzers . Yeah , and all is the word pass and it means all , which is incredible . So when Jesus said , go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature , he was actually saying to be true to the original Greek go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature . So if they're breathing witness to them , don't let them get away . Make a way to witness .
Speaker 2Don't wait for them to come to you , because they're not going to come to you . Men love darkness rather than light , because their deeds are evil . Neither will they come to the light lest their deeds be exposed . That's why we need to go to them .
Speaker 1Amen . Is there a caveat attached to this ? Let me play devil's advocate there , angel's advocate . I'm at work and I just want to share the gospel . I want to get into ministry and the guys pay me . But man , all these people need the Lord Easy .
Speaker 3Well , you have something called a break , you have something called lunch , you have something called recreational activities outside of work , or you can invite your co-workers and do that . So you do have to be wise and when . But if you're working with someone for years or months or weeks , even I , even you should find an opportunity at the right time in order to share the gospel . Some workplaces allow you to talk because it's conducive for that , but find a time .
Speaker 1I remember meeting an individual who was well off , had plenty of finances , and he was an Uber driver , and I said why are you an Uber driver ? And he said well , it's an opportunity to share the gospel . What are they going to do ? Fire me . It's like I share the gospel . That's why I have the job .
Speaker 3Yeah , and I think that's a perfect context where you can do that . Don't think , mark ? I didn't see that . Question of Ray is easy . The most annoying son-in-law ever .
Speaker 1I didn't come up with that .
Speaker 4I thought it , but I did not come up with that . It's the most asked question .
Speaker 3Yeah , I'm sure it is what people don't know is I am in reality the answer to Ray's prayer , because he always prayed for an Arab rapping ex-gang member , son-in-law , and you got him and one who impersonates you perfectly .
