What if this just goes terrible? My name is Dylan Schmidt, and you are listening to Digital Podcaster. I'm your host. And today is the first day of doing a podcast a day for the month of May to keep the impostor syndrome at bay, I came up with that phrase, I believe it was last week or two weeks ago. And I'm rolling with it. I'm rolling with it. And actually, I was gonna bail out at the last second. But I looked at a video that I had edited for social media. And it was actually me talking about doing a podcast today. So I'm like, I want to post this video. Let's just do it. Let's just do it. So I posted it. And what do you know, I got like one person responding saying, That sounds awesome. I'll do it too. So if you're the person listening, and you're doing this as well, kudos to you fighting the good fight. And I'm going to share briefly a little bit about what to expect for the following episodes, because it's going to be a little bit different. And yeah, and I'm not gonna make this super long. So podcasts a day, the rules are, it's Monday through Friday, for the month of May, the weekends, I just had to take off of doing that. I'll still be publishing on social media and things like that, throughout the whole month of May, and on the weekends, but I just thought it would be a little bit smarter to do it Monday through Friday, basically, the same thing is doing it every day. And essentially, it comes down to creating a content can be a bit of a headache. I know a lot of people feel that way. It's true. Like there's so much thinking that goes involved when it goes to creating content. But what I found is, speed creates the best content a lot of the time. Because when we're, you know, the problem with creating content is yeah, it can be a headache, but also, there's so much thought that goes into it. We worry about other people's opinions. We have all these thoughts come up with like, is it good enough? I'm not sure if people will like it. What if I say the wrong thing? What if I mess up? What if you take all that stuff just take so long? Especially with podcast to think about how much you do before you sit down and press record. It is so much so you know that's what I am doing this for is just the bus through. And I posted this on social media on Instagram if you're not following at Digital Podcaster on Instagram, Tik Tok, you do all platforms. But I posted a video of my thoughts on this. And I'll just share it real 30 seconds here is is impostor syndrome comes up for me it's come up. It mean it kept me from creating for eight years, eight or more years. And I think it's just you know, that fact of like, I don't know if I'm good enough. And then I found when I started creating content, it's not that it totally went away. It got a little bit louder, I guess. But then I was kind of face to face with it. Like, is this real? Or is this fiction? Is this nonfiction? Or is this fiction, right? And what I found was, the more I made, the more content I made, the more people were like, how do you do that? And they're like, I want to do what you're doing. And I'm like, still feeling impostor syndrome. Like, I'm just doing it despite feeling impostor syndrome. So yeah, so I'm not saying like I'm battling with this imposter syndrome. Right now, with the podcast, I'm just saying it's worked out really well, in the past. And I've done this with short form content, I wanted to do it with podcasts, which is just a little bit longer. So these episodes this month will be it'll vary, actually. So I have some interviews that already have recorded like podcast coaching interviews that I've done with people, and I interviewed them about their podcast, get to know them a little bit about their struggles, what they need help with, with, I had them fill out a form and kind of figure out what their problem areas are. And then I give them thoughts and suggestions on how they can improve their podcast to have a more profitable podcast having more successful podcast, how to create with ease, and attract an audience that they want to attract. attract the right audience. And, yeah, so I would say the opportunity for you and I both this is a mutual thing here is what if we worried less and created more content? Like what could we get done? If that was the case? Because all I'm saying is when you create with good intentions, you stop worrying you stop worrying about what other people's our opinions are as much because you know, your intentions are right. You're not there to fool anybody. You're not there to like, do something weird. It's just the right intentions. It all comes down to the right intentions. So I asked even if you're, I'm gonna give you a little bit of a challenge here at the end here in a minute but even if you're We're not, you know, joining me on this, this challenge, I would still invite you to challenge you to challenge I invite you to join me on some type of thing this month. And you can start, it doesn't matter if it's you're listening to this later or whatever, just start at anytime. And that's making something every day, you don't have to publish it. But I think the act of publishing is a good idea. Because it just kind of helps bus through things, when you publish them. It doesn't matter if anyone sees it, either. It's not to it's not to publish to get feedback on like, is this good is this bad, something like that. It's just simply to publish something, get in the groove of publishing something, it's like a muscle. And when you get in that, that when you start building that muscle through publishing or creating, it gets stronger, and it gets easier. And what used to take a while does not take a while anymore. It's a beautiful thing. So I'd invite you to a couple of things, have create with good intention that the month of May, and then trust that what you're creating is good enough, and either publish or don't publish it, that's up to you. And that's kind of it. So whatever you do, do something, even if even if you're like I don't know, maybe it's finger painting, maybe it's drawing, maybe it's writing an email, maybe it's going for a walk, maybe it's journaling, maybe it's, you know, meditation, something, I would just invite you to do something in the month of May keep yourself focused with the challenge, and follow along to the podcast this month, it's going to be fun, make something every day can be small. I'll be here with you every step of the way, sharing my own experiences and creations throughout this month, some of the things will be a bit recorded already, like a normal interview or something like that. But I'll also be covering one main topic and I won't drag it on super long. My goal is always add value as much as possible in every podcast episode. And value is not determined by length. value is determined by a couple of things. Well, at the end of the day, if you find it valuable and it's valuable. So I can't define I can, I can't really define value for you. But I can give with my best intentions and then let it go from there. So if you find the podcast valuable, here's a call to action. I would love it if you could rate or review the podcast, Apple podcast, Spotify, all that good stuff. And I'll just keep it short and sweet today. They'll probably be a lot of short and sweet episodes this month, because there's about 22 of them coming your way. Alright, hope you're doing well. I will see you tomorrow.
