What's the oldest form of content, it's sharing stories around a fire. That's what it was way back in the day. Once we first figured out fire, podcasting is like the fire, right. That's how we gather around and share our stories. And that's not going anywhere. This is the show for creative entrepreneurs who have a message to share and want to live a life of freedom. Learn how to grow your network, and net worth. Hear from exciting guests, and more. My name is Dylan Schmidt, and welcome to Digital Podcaster. In this episode, we're going to talk about what the future of podcasting looks like. It's something we all I'm sure are wondering about. And because I have a close look into podcasting, because I look at this stuff every single day, and I'm working with different people. And I'm in content, whether it's content clips, Podcasting, Academy, all these places. So let's talk about the short term and the long term briefly, short term what the future of podcasting looks like, or what I think it looks like, I think a couple things, I think podcasts will have more accessibility, meaning people will be able to listen easier. Right now, it's a little tricky listening to podcasts, for example, you can't just go to YouTube, and look up podcasts you want very easily. They haven't section that out yet, YouTube and Google have already said that they will be doing a little bit more when it comes to podcasts as far as they've already set up a specific podcasting page. But I think we're gonna see even more accessibility in 2023. When it comes to podcasts, and YouTube, The Verge released an article a about a month ago or less, that YouTube is the top podcasting platform where listeners go to listen to podcasts, I think we'll see a greater accessibility. Now the thing I think we're gonna see is greater adoption by listeners. Not everybody knows how to listen to podcasts. If you listen to this podcast, you are obviously aware of how to listen to podcasts. But also you're probably a podcaster. And you know, way more than most people know when it comes to podcasts, especially if you're a podcaster. A lot of people that are familiar with podcasts don't even understand how podcasts work. So, you know, what seems obvious to you is not obvious to millions and millions of people will billions but millions of potential podcast listeners aren't even listening to podcast yet. So we're going to see more people listening to podcasts, podcasting is still extremely early, we feel like it has already been going on. And that's why when people ask what the future of podcasting looks like, it seems like they're looking for what's next. But it's really still early. So we're gonna see a greater adoption there. Also, in the long term, hey, there ever notice how I don't run any ads on Digital Podcaster. It's because I want you to have a great listening experience, no sponsors, this is completely self funded to do want to ask for one thing, though, if you know anybody who could benefit from listening to this show, please, please share it with them, message them, tag them in a post, take a screenshot of this, put it in your stories, wherever you share your stuff with the world with people that you care about, I want to provide as much value as possible to as many podcasts as possible. So your recommendations go a long way in helping other people become better podcasters as well, which is the only reason I do this. All right. So appreciate you. And let's get back to the show. So zooming out just a little bit more in the next few years, I think a few things. Number one, we're going to see more podcasters appear. So if you're a podcaster, you're going to see probably more competition. That's okay, it's healthy to have competition sometimes. But I also think we're going to see more diverse content. So how content looks right now, we're going to see that kind of twist and in warp a little bit. For example, some people treat it like an interview style. Some people treat it like where they just repurpose content for a podcast. Some people treat it like a radio show where they you know, report on the news or whatever it is whether it's daily, but I think we're going to see more diverse content and pushing the boundaries of what we thought podcasting to be. That's already happening. But I think we're going to see again more of that. And I think we're going to see a bigger potential for monetization. Through advertising or subscription models. We already have things like Patreon, or if you are on Buzzsprout, you can monetize through Buzzsprout. But I think we're going to see even more of that. And it will become even more obvious just like how we have a ton of streaming choices. Now. I think we're going to see for podcasters there'll be easier routes to monetize, if you want to monetize, especially if you have an audience, because if you have an audience, it's a little bit tricky, like how do I monetize this audience? Where do I find outlets to monetize through I also think we're going to see a lot more networks. So a lot more podcasts banding together to grow their own shows to grow their their podcasts, they will promote each other shows, I think we're going to see an easier accessibility into that. So it's all great stuff. And I don't think podcasting itself is going to change shape necessarily. I don't think people are going to stop it. Passing or podcasting will then, you know cease to exist because if you look at it, what's the oldest form of content, it's sharing stories around a fire. That's probably what it was way back in the day when we first figured out fire. Podcasting is like the fire, right. That's how we gather around and share our stories. And that's not going anywhere. Communicating is not going anywhere. We don't have to worry about podcasting going away or anything. However, you know, whether the shape or the distribution through we share our message might change just a tad here and there. I believe that it's still going to look very similar to how it looks today. Again, it's still early, I want to say that like 800 times an episode, we still have a long way to go with podcasts adoption for listeners. So if you're a podcaster, keep going. Stay focused on delivering great value and great content to your listeners strategize on how you can create the best possible podcast for your listeners. And then monetization growing all of those things become much easier. All right. Thank you so much for listening. I will catch you in the next episode.
