Hear from exciting guests and more. My name is Dylan Schmidt and welcome to Digital Podcaster. Welcome to Digital Podcaster. I'm your host, Dylan Schmidt. And today I wanted to do a little bit of a different episode than I normally do. Mostly because we got some big news from Apple about their new AR goggles, glasses called Vision Pro. And really there's just a lot going on on the digital landscape. So hopping right into it, Apple's Vision Pro was just announced. This is a new kind of computer that seamlessly blends the real world and the digital world together. New apps don't have to replace old ones. Apple's plan for Vision Pro is for it to change the way that we enjoy content and communicate. and content and communication are one of the foundations of podcasting. One of the big things that I think is exciting about this is it removes the limitations of the phone and it's kind of hard, like it was just announced. So it's hard. This is gonna probably seem sillier in the future, but it's hard to completely wrap our heads around this. Right now, you think you have your phone device, right? You have apps, you have to open up apps. You're confined to this smaller screen. Yes, we have our desktops, but most people are confined to their phone when it comes to like on the go and just on the couch, right? Like most people are using mobile devices to access websites, social media, YouTube, things like that. So when we think about Vision Pro in this AR goggles, I don't know if they call them goggles, but when you wear these, you're opening up a wider view, right? And why I think this is interesting, especially for content, is on the phone, everything is vertical, everything is compressed. So what we're seeing with, we're gonna see with Vision Pro, in my prediction, is that just everything's gonna expand. So we were confined to vertical videos, a lot of compression, and as things have grown, just naturally, if you look back, human civilization, we had etchings on stone walls, which, fast forward to the newspapers, that was so much more convenient. You could take it with you, Fast forward to phones where you have this device that could store all this information. Fast forward to something like Vision Pro where now it's just expanding. The access isn't a huge leap in terms of the information you could find from your phone to what you're gonna be wearing or what we'll all be wearing someday in the future. But just think of expanding, like no more vertical videos only. Yeah, I'm sure there's still gonna be a place for those, but it's just opening up the possibilities of making things bigger and if you so choose, more mobile and on the go. It's not like this is gonna happen instantaneous overnight, but I think it's just something to be aware of, like how things are developing, right? TVs have gotten bigger, they've gotten bigger and they've gotten cheaper. Phones have gotten nicer and I wouldn't say they've gotten cheaper, if anything, they've gotten more expensive. But when it comes to things like Vision Bro, which is just brand new, we're going to see basically things just expanding. And why I think that's cool and ways we could embrace that as creators, as entrepreneurs, as podcasters is we could just think about the roots of what we're doing. The format, the medium will never change. As far as like, is Apple's Vision Pro going to change podcasting? At its core level, I don't believe so because it's like a computer that you just, again, So when you're looking at things, you could still be multitasking or listening to a podcast in the background. I don't think that's going to change podcasting in the core of what it is. Like it's just communication, storytelling, things like that. But in terms of video, yeah, that might change a bit. Video clips that might change, like dimensions might change. It's obviously way too early to really know exactly how much that will change. But content is going to be just again, more expanded. I think just more expansive. So when it comes to podcasting itself, though, the roots of it, like the core of the idea of your ability to communicate an idea, your ability to storytell, your, your ability to have, you know, conversations that hold people, that's not going to change that is still at the core of all content itself. If you are familiar with Joseph Campbell, he has the hero's journey. Basically, if you see the hero's journey, and then you look at any movie you've pretty much ever watched, you can point at where the movie is on the hero's journey. It's basically like the foundations of storytelling. And that's just something throughout human history, like that's not going to change. So it is exciting, this whole new technology that's being developed. But I think at the same time, it's always important to remember the core of like, what something is the packaging, the marketing, you know, is always going to be sexy by Apple. but the core, like what is actually the content inside the thing? And I think with podcasting, I feel more confident, and I didn't think anything was going to change with Apple's announcement of this new device, but I feel more confident than ever that podcasting is still just going to be such a great way to transmit ideas. Think about the immersion possibilities. Imagine feeling like you're sitting in the room with your favorite podcasters, like they're right there and you're part of the conversation. Part of podcasting and what's so great about it is like the connection you feel with the show. It feels so intimate and with podcasts like to bring that even more to life it's going to be really interesting to see how different creators are utilizing that. It's just going to be more immersive storytelling and I feel excited for the idea of podcasters being able to embrace and utilize this and I think it's going to make for some really great content. Last thing I'll say is could you imagine that there is some type of integration with Apple where you know, they have some presets. So you upload your podcast and part of the immersive, you know, you set a theme like what style is your podcast? It was true crime, for example, and that there were animations and just simple graphics like visualizer, abstract graphics that went along with your podcast, like the audio back in the day, We still have it on some things, but there's like visualizer graphs like Windows Media Player years ago had, you know, you would see little morphs of things like that. Something like that with podcast audio playing without you having to do anything extra, but just making this totally immersive experience for the audience, the listener. How cool would that be? They're just sitting in a room enjoying a podcast. Imagine some type of thing like that. I think the future of podcasting in this use case is exciting and something I'm really looking forward to and something I really want to embrace and I hope the things I shared have you looking hopeful and wanting to embrace it as well because I think there's a lot of cool stuff to come. That's all I got for you today. I will see you in the next episode.
