Show Notes

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, delves into the meaning of the word, “hope.” He explains the secular meaning of this word and the amount of uncertainty that is attached to the word because it does not consider the will of God. He explains that worldly hope is not a virtue and is often misdirected and selfishly motivated. It is pointed out hope in the Old Testament does not have doubt as part of the meaning. The same is true in the New Testament as the Greek word for hope is also a confident expectation. Secular hope is just a wish. Biblical hope is guaranteed certainty when God has said it. It is impossible for God to lie so biblical hope becomes an anchor for our soul. Dr. Hall reviews some of the things that God has promised. It is pointed out that Scripture tells us we will overflow with biblical hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Biblical hope is reality not just feeling. It is knowing that God keeps his promises, especially regarding eternal life.
