Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, uses the metaphor tangled tinsel to refer to troubling realities during Christmas time. He first focuses on the Satanic altar that was allowed to be placed among Christmas displays in the Iowa capital building. Michael Cassidy, former US Navy pilot and Christian destroyed this satanic display and has been hailed as a “Satan Slayer” and Christian hero. Dr. Hall raises the question, “What would Jesus have done if he found a Satanic altar in the house of the people?” Dr. Hall reviews the growing spending on Christmas and Holiday gifts noting that Christmas has become less of a religious holiday and more secular. More than 40% of consumers report that they do not earn enough income to cover the planned holiday spending. Questions raised about celebrating Christmas are addressed by Dr. Hall. The history of the tradition of gift-giving is outlined.
