Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall, addresses the growing industry of psychics, Tarot card readers, and other fortune tellers. He points out that consumers aren’t affiliated with a particular religion and agnostics make up the majority of psychics customers. Individuals seeking services of psychics and astrologers come from all sorts of backgrounds including executives, entrepreneurs, and everyday working people. He notes that even Pres. Ronald Regan and his wife had a personal astrologist that they consulted regularly. Fortune-telling is a $2 billion-a-year industry with more than 85,000 people working in this sector and making about 1.5 billion in total wages. Dr. Hall talks in depth about some of the methods used for fortune-telling including horoscopes, and the origin of zodiac signs, palm reading, dice, tea leaf reading, and use of crystal balls. Many verses in the Bible make it clear that God finds psychics and fortunetellers detestable. The ways that God speaks to us are reviewed with a focus on dreams. Dr. Hall believes that the activities of psychics should be dismissed as a source of unreliable knowledge. His advice is to never consult a psychic or fortuneteller, read another horoscope or follow astrologers or listen to her read any other prophet except those found in the word of God.
