Welcome to the Soca Chronicles. Soca Chronicles with Sharns and RKO.
Speaker 2Welcome to the 42nd episode of Soca Chronicles, the podcast that brings you everything Soca and some drama. I'm RKO and I'm digitally sitting next to the one and only Sharns.
Speaker 3Yo yo, yo, Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo yo and that was sharon for the first song coming out soon on every major platform you will realize what those yo's are about later on in the podcast. Just saying, just saying, exactly, yeah, boy.
Welcome to the Soca Chronicles
Speaker 2Today we have some drama to discuss and I'm kind of over it, but we'll discuss it in a minute. But that's the main thing. The other thing is we have a lovely interview with Keith Currency the artist behind. Super Soca, they get them wet, oh yeah. So, without further ado, I think we should just get into it.
Speaker 3I think we should, because you know me, I love drama when I'm not involved. Drama for your mama, yeah you do You're not involved this time? Exactly so.
Speaker 4I'm here for it. Let's go.
Speaker 2I'm down. Let's go. Sokka Chronicles. Starting off with a drama, and this time it's international drama, but it also started last episode, mm-hmm. I think this is one of our long-standing dramas now, like we never had two episodes about the same drama.
Speaker 3Yeah, I know, because the drama has developments.
Speaker 2Yeah, exactly, we are talking about the song that Trinidad Killer made on the Big Links, rhythm Unauthorized. I would like to say Okay. Is that the word?
Speaker 3Yeah, unauthorized. Yeah, it's definitely a word in English.
Speaker 2He just jumped on the rhythm. Yeah, yeah, so the song is not bad, you know. He then asks for a verse from um nikki minaj, who said oh yeah, you can get it if you get me one million. What was it likes, or uh, repost, I don't know.
Speaker 3Some shit like that yeah, so he needed to get a million views on his music video for the song which was now on the bigger links rhythm yes, what did I say? The big links yes, it was originally on the big links, as we know, but then, yeah, he got somebody to make another rhythm.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, there we go, basically so this all very petty and very it's. It's reaching kendrick and drake levels at this point. So let's see the super bowl. Who's going to do it? Anyway, what happened now is Marcel called him out, yeah, on stage.
Speaker 3I think it was at Stink and Dutty.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3Yeah, and he said Nicki Minaj, stop fighting me down, chinna da killer, stop fighting me down. And that's my Trini accent. I think it's great guys, thank you.
Speaker 2I would agree with it, as I don't know my Trini accent. I think it's great guys. Thank you, I would agree with it, as I don't know the Trini accent that well as well. So I think you did an amazing job. Yeah, so he basically said you know, stop the nonsense.
Speaker 3Yeah, and then Obviously yeah.
Speaker 2You cannot do that in this world. There we go.
Speaker 3So then Nicki Minaj was like, but what the ass I do? And then, next thing, you know, the verse for Trinidad Killers Remix is now being publicized on Instagram and it's dropping. Well, by the time this releases, it would have already dropped. So, bye, there we go and all I think, reading it.
Speaker 2And so, okay, guys, let me get something straight. I do not enjoy drama as much as sharon's do does, even though it's not I'm not involved in it. I'm not, you know, invested in drama that much. Sometimes I am not in this one. This one, I'm like. You know, we discussed it last time already yeah it kind of feels like cheap for him to just jump on the rhythm that somebody worked hard on that is not going to get any money off right now you know like it's and then the other side is.
Speaker 2There's the soca mafia who decides who gets to jump on it. I get that as well. So yeah, it's all good, but now it's it's turning into like a kindergarten fight or something I don't know.
Speaker 3Yeah, school, I'm so over it, yeah no I hear it. I hear it, but um yeah, I just don't understand why nikki minaj held on to this verse for so long. Because she said once he reaches a million followers I mean not followers, a million views, but that reached a million views a while ago.
Speaker 2So this is what my theory is From the moment I saw it. I think if Michelle didn't say a word, the verse would never have been made.
Speaker 3Maybe not. That's what I think Exactly. It's like that kind of pushed her to be like.
Speaker 2You know what f? It? I'm a jack, you're being petty, I'm being petty.
Speaker 4That was my trini accent, wow do not rate me, please thank you. That was great, not thank you anyway, I don't know, I feel.
Speaker 2I feel like this is not what Soca is about. This is I just don't care enough, I just want music, and it's actually carnival season like full on carnival season, so let's just enjoy it.
Speaker 3Yep, in the swing of things no, I hear it but again, this could just be because Trinidad Killer is the king of promotion. And again, this could just be because Trinidad Killer is the king of promotion, and creating scandals to, you know, get promotion. So this could be part of it as well. And it's working because the Nicki Minaj fans are just like, yeah, we want this verse. And then the Soca fans are, you know, glued and following and paying attention and all the soca blogs are posting about it.
Speaker 2So yeah, do you know what?
Speaker 3yeah, yeah, yeah and by machal saying what he said on stage. He's just giving more promo to chenadak killer that's what I think.
Speaker 2That's exactly what it is chenadak killer is winning mate yeah he's winning right now, so yeah not sure how to feel about that as well but you know, in the end music is music I get that exactly. It's also about. Like you know, I don't know it's complicated.
Speaker 3No, I hear you, but, guys, we want to know what you think. So let us know what you think about this beef in the comments and we will reply to your comments. Well, we'll try to anyway.
Speaker 2And we'll continue this episode in the comments? No, we shall not. I did touch it Briefly, but Train at Carnival Was starting Right about now.
Speaker 3Well, it's in full swing Right about now. Yeah, yeah, the run up events, etc. Etc. In full swing. Dominica Carnival Was in full swing as well.
Speaker 2Are you there?
Speaker 3I'm not there. So I'm sad this year Because Does it hurt? Yeah, I mean last year I had a time, yeah, and this year because, I mean, last year I had a time, yeah, and this year I'm just watching people's snaps and I was actually in a dominica carnival group chat and I didn't want to leave, did not want to leave. But then when people started to arrive on the island they're sending videos, their locations and stuff I was like yep, chance, it's time to go because, I couldn't take it honestly.
Speaker 3Yeah, couldn't take it, but yeah pick up everyone who's in trinidad carnival right now, or in trinidad right now, and those in dominica. Please enjoy for me.
Speaker 2I beg thank you and have a drink for me, please, or two or three five please five, five is fine yeah there we go there we go.

Speaker 4the podcast Are there three of us. It's basically.
Speaker 3Problem.
Speaker 2Child. Oh, we'll talk more about that later. Oh, hey.
Introducing the Episode
Speaker 3Hey, hey, bro, should we? We'll talk more about that later. Oh hey, hey, hey, bro, should we get into music?
Speaker 2uh, I think we should enjoy dominica carnival a bit more with our song of the month yes, please.
Speaker 3And obviously, as we know, I came back from dominica last year. Sorry, dominica last year, bouillon babe. So it's my turn to introduce the song of the month. I can't even talk, I'm so excited. What is? Going on so this month we have the song you Mad by Rio. Now this song is an absolute banger. If anyone comes to you and they're chatting nonsense or they're just saying stuff that you know, you just think You're talking crazy. Play this song to them, bro, I'm done talking. Play the riddim.
Speaker 2Let's go. This is the song of the month.
Speaker 7Okay, boom, we're not chasing nobody. Why you got in all that worry, acting as though you don't want me? You can feel it in your belly when you see me with somebody else. I'm gonna get a next flex and I don't care if you flex. I'm gonna get a next flex and I don't care if you beg Jigsaw, run with him. Wow, shot you. Ah, that is it, mj. You think I'm gonna chase you for life, you stupid ass of female baby? Tell me you mad, who fool? Who chug? Who pan the bottle? Tell me, babyimoze, tamiremi, yuman Ufu, uchad, upanimoze Timon, kaiveu, kaiveu, kaiveu, kaiveu, jigsaw, let's go. Kaiveu, kaiveu, jigsaw, let's go. Kaibo, kaibo.
Speaker 2Kaibo. That was Rio Jumat. With the song of the month, it is time for our monthly interview oh yes, oh yes. It's a very interesting interview Time for our monthly interview. Oh yes, oh yes, it's a very interesting interview, good guy, I'm not going to spoil too much of the surprises, but we recently heard a lot about a certain artist and we're going to hear more of him again, so let's get into the interview, shall we?
Speaker 3Let's go.
Speaker 2This is Soca Chronicles. Spring is in in the air and we are back with another interview with none other than keith currency. Welcome welcome thank you for coming here and my first question, as always, is please introduce yourself and tell us how you got into the soca scene yes, guys, it's a pleasure being here with you guys into the circus scene.
Speaker 8Yes, guys, it's a pleasure being here with you guys for the first time. I've heard about it and here I am today. I am Keith Currency from Humble, a small island of St Vincent-on-the-Grenadines. I came into the circus music years ago, but before I started that I used to dance. I used to do hip-hop dance and then I just branched over into super but, okay, I've never stopped doing my, my other general music.
Speaker 8Yeah, I just, you know, had to do soka because, uh, my culture and um, to build my fan base a bit more faster, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah is that the?
Speaker 2hazard? I always want to ask this because you're not the only one who moved from other genres into Sokka. Even I moved from hip-hop into Sokka at some point.
Speaker 3It's a common theme, isn't it? It's a common theme.
Speaker 2But I would actually say, if it is for a fanbase, hip-hop is more popular, dancehall is more popular. This is true. Of course, there's a cultural aspect to Sokka which is obvious it's the culture. Yeah, is that the main reason? The culture.
Speaker 8Yeah, I think that would be the main reason, because that's why most people would be telling me like, yeah, you need to be know. Yeah, you cannot. You cannot make it in dance or anything. But I mean that's nonsense. You can't send me what?
Speaker 3I could make, if I want to make it exactly, exactly, my mother, my father, get out of here no, that's facts, that's facts.
Speaker 2But still like and again, this is something we we have discussed before as well but um, the market, like even if you have a 0.001 percent of the hip-hop market, it means you're big. If you have a 0.001 percent of the soca market, it means you have two fans. Basically, because it's such a difference in volume, you know what I mean right, right right and it's it's it's difficult thing because of that, probably we we lose a lot of good artists in soca potentially because you know they aim for the bigger crowds.
Speaker 2If you're yeah if you have a um viral hip-hop video, that's going to reach more people than a viral soca video eventually, that's true. Not saying you should go back to hip-hop, by the way, please don't yeah, but how, yeah, how do you experience that, that struggle, that that sort of yeah, life um?
Speaker 8it's. It's been a struggle but it's not getting it's. It's getting easier now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, because I have, I have.
Speaker 2I have some video out like hip-hop, dancehall, slash, tap videos and compared to the views to my soca video that I just released, like last year super soca, yes, yeah, that that has the most views than them yeah that was a hit as well, because I remember, like I'm a mix guy, like I like to listen to mixes, right, but every time when that song would play on the mix I was like super'm a mix guy, like I like to listen to mixes, right, every time when that song would play on the mix I was like super soca. You know, it was like it was addictive that song. So, yeah, man, it's epic. Yeah, yeah, for real. Sorry, sorry for you know it's imitating that, so maybe not necessary, but you know, bro, I'm here for it.
Speaker 3I actually enjoyed that.
Speaker 8That was funny. Yeah, that was funny.
Speaker 4No, but it gives energy. You know, it's like from the start it's a good tune.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, but We'll get into that actually Because, spoiler alert this is part of our Top three songs, so you know, it can never not be, but you know.
Speaker 3Yeah. Alright, so wait I have a question so right now you're based in the uk, or?
Speaker 8not really based on my I came. I came for christmas, so, uh, you know I'm just hanging around, you know, because I got like six months to kill, but I'm not gonna, not gonna like spend out the six months I normally leave before you know okay yeah, yeah, yeah so I'm preparing for vinci mouse, getting ready.
Speaker 2Uh yeah, are you bringing new music up for that season? Like, are you actually waiting with releasing music for that moment, or strategically playing?
Speaker 8I'm actually in writing and I'm actually in recording right now. Nice, like I said, I had some projects with a problem. It's just to voice some from him. And record some of my own. Yeah, okay.
Speaker 2Because you mentioned you. You have some some project with uh problem yeah um. Once you get into that circle, because we've talked about problems. Well, problem is a um, um. I'm not gonna say perfectionist, and you know once yeah, once you get in in the vortex with him, there's. You know, if you, if you match his speed, you're gonna go fast and you're gonna.
Speaker 4You know you're gonna keep going, which is yeah, great, I think, yeah, yeah, that's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 2Looking forward to that, I'm here for it boy yeah yeah, yeah you've also I mean yeah, no, I was just gonna say it's also already going a bit into the other, the top three, but you also had some work with Viking. Ding Dong, ding Dong, yeah, yeah that's two problems as well. Ah, see what I mean.
Speaker 3I need to start making music, and then you can hook me up.
Speaker 2Join the vortex. Yeah.
Speaker 3I'm ready to go fast.
Speaker 8I can hold on, I can keep up. It's in a circle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm ready to go fast. I can hold on, I can keep up.
Speaker 2It's in the circle. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. I can't wait to see that song you're making Listen I'm going to release my debut album in May 2025. Album, even.
Speaker 3Yeah. Go big or go home bro.
Speaker 2Why May?
Speaker 3Because it's my birthday month. Oh.
Speaker 2Like a carnival Somewhere happening, literally For my birthday, I'm releasing this album.
Speaker 3It's gonna have five songs on it, okay, and yeah, I'm on it. Let's go.
Speaker 2Okay, we'll have a separate interview Because I need to go Dive deeper in this, but not today.
Speaker 3Sorry. Anyway, I'm chatting nonsense, it's not about me.
Speaker 8I'm gonna want to hear about that ep soon too.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, exactly, oh gosh oh gosh, oh god, you definitely don't want to hear it. I'm gonna be talking nonsense. I'll tell you that. Anyway, enough about me I just.
Speaker 2I just want to ask one other question about uh, because you were saying you're preparing now for the Vinci season. So we all know Soca is seasonal. What are your thoughts on that? Because there's a lot of discussion like should it be seasonal, Should it be released throughout the year? However, if you do that, is it going to get as much exposure as you would expect if you do it seasonal? What are your thoughts on that?
Speaker 8So yeah, it's been seasonal for ever since I know. But then we often say to ourselves why is it seasonal? And me, as an artist, I've been releasing music year to year. I don't wait until Carnival, I just drop it Okay, good so you don't even like.
Speaker 2If you you create a song is honestly the best song you've ever created. You know this is going to be perfect for the road. You would still release it on november or december day, or would you actually hold on to that for a second? Because I, I, I can imagine you would, you know, like yeah a bit closer to it.
Speaker 8It all depends, yeah, it all depends, yeah, yeah, but normally I just, yeah, just drop it, drop things out like that, I like that okay yeah, you never know what. What's going on, what's going to connect.
Speaker 3You know this is true, yeah, this is true and I feel like sometimes songs might need a bit of time for people to maybe digest it and for the catchers split in the middle, Literally.
Speaker 4we had this discussion.
Speaker 8It's funny that you say that because, our carnival. Now you drop it because you see the fact that it's a short period of time If you check Trinidad Carnival, it starts way beyond. So you can digest them songs.
Speaker 6Exactly.
Speaker 8But all Carnival now is just like you know. It's a time span, I mean it's very short, so people get to digest them songs when Carnival is finished.
Speaker 2Oh, okay, exactly, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 8So if you yeah.
Speaker 2It'll be big in Miami, but not during Vin C-Mess.
Speaker 8Exactly Right, but not during Vinci.
Speaker 4Mesh, exactly Right Okay.
Speaker 2That's the trouble with a lot of songs. I'll be honest Because I Like Miami. If you want to just get the best of the best Of the year's music, go to Miami, because this is true. All the music, all the hits From all the islands Will be there. Basically, this is true. Right, right, yeah, and I can vouch for that.
Speaker 3I've been to Miami two years in a row, so last year, year before I was there, and yeah, literally the hits from from vincey, hits from lucia, yeah, hits from dominica everything from trinidad like literally all just gets played.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah exactly facts well, but then still, your music will be played. So you know, yeah, yeah, it's true yeah, all, yeah, it's true, yeah, all right, I think it's time to go into music.
Speaker 3Let's get into the music.
Speaker 7My favorite part.
Speaker 2All right, All right so we have created top three of Keith Currency's songs, yeah, yeah, songs that we think are our well, they're our favorites.
Speaker 4Yeah, songs that we think are our. Well, they're our favorites, uh in no particular order. Um well, they are in a particular order, bro.
Speaker 2Well, they are sorry in our particular order, but not so much like the latest and greatest or the the first or the most viewed or most listens just what we liked, basically, um, and we're gonna ask you to explain the thought process behind them, how they came to life. You know funny stories, if there is any. So, starting with three Sjorns, do you want to do the honors?
Speaker 3Yes, I shall begin so at number three. We have when You're From, so tell us about that song. How did that song come to life? What sort of inspiration did you get from it? And, as archaea said, if you have any funny stories, let us know. For listening.
Speaker 8Okay, so that that's a project from problem as well. Oh yeah, so um, I believe that everywhere I believe them tap tree songs that's coming is some problem. That's that's, that's that. That's in my guts. Not original than so, from you start with where you're from, I know I know what's coming behind, so yeah that's a problem.
Speaker 8Um, last year he flew down like um, I think it was in march, and um I was working with this canadian company, power company and I was on like night shift, I was doing like 12 hour shift and I came home like late I mean like tired like and he said yo, you're not going home, yo, you gotta come by my house. You're gonna stay there until whenever. We're gonna voice all them songs. We're gonna do everything dope damn.
Speaker 8He said sleep when you're dead we've been, we've been just doing, we've been voicing track after track and man, I'm tired. And then when he, when he realized that my voice started kicking out like snoring in the middle, I'm literally standing like and and like my eyes been giving out like, see you know what? Let's give it a rest because he could hear it.
Speaker 2And then, yeah, that's the moment it's like, okay, now you can rest. Yeah, I can hear it.
Speaker 8Yeah, this time, this time when, when I'm going to have to hit this note and and then stay in key, like to hit this note and um, and then staying key, like like dude, what you doing, like, and then he's there when that's when you realize, like yeah yeah let it, let him sleep, let's let's, let's wake up early in the morning, I mean talking about early early yeah, it's early. And then when bam bam we? Just when I get up early it's just like yeah, I nearly, I really need that, rest needed that rest.
Speaker 8Yeah, yeah, definitely yeah, yeah, because you know, you know, as an artist in your voice, you, you have to sleep a lot and you have to drink glass of water, that's of course, yeah, take care of it yeah, 100, yeah no, definitely so.
Speaker 3How long did it take you to record this song? Or write and the whole writing and recording process. How long did that take you?
Speaker 8well, um, now he started writing for me, especially, so good okay, nice, nice no just because you want to speed up the process now and then because most of most of the times now, because we so tight with our friendship, he gives me like his personal songs that he was going to voice. He like he give them to me yeah.
Speaker 8Oh, like when you see, when you write songs for other people, he will give me his personal songs. Ok, yeah, oh, like when he will write songs for other people, he will give me his personal songs.
Speaker 3Okay, nice, nice.
Speaker 8Yeah, so that's how tight he really is. Yeah, oh nice.
Speaker 3How did you develop that relationship Like, how did you guys get to talking and stuff?
Speaker 8Well um.
Speaker 3Oh, it sounds like you're not allowed to tell me no, no, no, no, it's not that. Oh, it sounds like you're not allowed to tell me no, no, no, it's not that, I'm just.
Speaker 8I'm just trying to um, um, look back at how I started.
Speaker 3Yeah, phew, I started to get scared there like yeah.
Speaker 8So I mean you know, as a young artist on the scene just out in the super scene, and then you know you're looking up to Problem, you know you look it up to problem, you know, and I'm not a big artist so I used to tell my yeah, I used to tell myself, boy, no problem, I like this style, I want to be around like all the time, like, and every time there's a show, because, um, I was making my name like as soon as I come out with starting soca, because I had my name before with the hip-hop and dance, so, so it was never a struggle to come in the soap opera you know, everybody knew me. So as I start, when they got shows, when I see problem, I approach them, you know.
Speaker 8I say you know, yeah respectfully, and and it's been happening every time and then every time he come to vinci, I go up to him and approach him. Yeah, and it's been happening every time, and then every time he comes to vinci, I'll go up to him and approach him. Yeah, and that's how everything just built like that and he just gravitate to me.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, it makes sense, yeah and I, I think again like problem child. Well, the stories we've heard so far, um, he, he's particular with who he has around him and mostly it's only people who allow that. He says come at midnight and you'll be working on. You know, we need to get this done. Uh, yeah, when you're tired, go to sleep, but then wake up early and we need to get this done definitely. If you as a person don't like that or it's not your style, then I don't think you'll be close.
Speaker 3Yeah, literally that guy is just, he's just down for work. The amount of songs that he puts out is absolutely crazy.
Speaker 2And he still gives his songs away as well you know what I? Mean yeah.
Speaker 8He's trying to bring out some other youths like this season. I'd knock on him too, Okay nice. Because there's a lot of youth that need help in terms of production and guidance. You know, yeah.
Speaker 2A hundred percent.
Speaker 3Oh, I love that.
Speaker 2A new generation of Soka needs to be in the making at some point.
Speaker 3So yeah, exactly To help the culture and to help. Soka grow. We have to bring through the younger generation. You know what I mean.
Speaker 8Try to help them stay on track as well, because a lot of them just think you know, it's just fame, and just you know, go in the studio, do this and then put it out, and stuff like that there's a lot more to this Exactly, I love that I love that.
Speaker 3But the thing is I like Problem Child, anyway, Like I've met him a good few times and he's just such a humble guy. I love it.
Speaker 3He doesn't call me by my name. So if, when you next talk to him, just say to him do you know someone called janine janine. Don't ask how I got the name janine, I genuinely don't know. He just said oh, you look like a janine, I'm gonna call you janine. So I don't think he knows my actual name he's aware of your, I swear. But he says ah, janine, okay cool I'm janine I mean, if problem child is gonna call me janine, I'm janine, bro. I'll get changed my name by depot, fuck it.
Speaker 4Excuse my language okay, nice to meet you, janine literally.
Speaker 8So yeah, when I get on this, this, I'm say yo P. I spoke to Janine tonight, janine.
Speaker 3If he's initially like Janine, just say, janine, you know the one from London, and he'll be like, oh, janine, yeah, yeah, yeah. But, yeah, I feel like we got sidetracked.
Speaker 8No, but that's funny man. That's okay. It's good to break off and jump on.
Speaker 3This is true, but I'm the queen of diverting and breaking off and talking about other things.
Speaker 7I realize that. I realize that yeah.
Speaker 3And RKO is the one that's like all right, let's get back on track.
Speaker 2I'm just trying to steer the ship Like he's steering the ship and I'm just here.
Speaker 8That's something like what problem with Dumeca? If you see me getting sidetracked, you say yo dude focus, what were we doing? Literally, that is RKO.
Speaker 3I'm out here trying to sabotage the ship and capsize it. Rko's like no, no, no, no, no, let's go back on course. Charles, that's enough. Charles, that's enough. Yeah, come on, charles, think about what you're doing. No, no, no.
Speaker 2No, this'm kidding. I'm kidding, but we shall get back to music.
Speaker 3Yes, we shall, and I think that we should listen to this song.
Speaker 2Yes, please.
Speaker 3Let's go when you from A canal in your, where you from, mars in your when you from. Jump up and represent when you come from. Get on board and show them when you come from, show them what it does to you, show them when you come from. This we displaced in the world. Where you from, from a place when we don't make jokes, it's plenty pace and we don't make smoke.
Speaker 7We love to break away. We just turn up loud and get mad everyday, yelling love up a lot, like some. You see, the place where I come from, we have the hottest caravan, the place where I come from. When it come to mass we don't play at all, anytime I just come, it's my carnal in yo, my ass in yo, my carnal in yo, my ass in yo. It's my carnal. Your, where you from, my ass in your, where you from. My channel in your, where you from, my ass in your, where you from. It's my channel in your, where you from my ass in your, where you from my channel in your, where you from my ass in your, where you from. Jump up and represent when you come from. Get on by and show them when you come from, show them what it does to you when you come from.
Speaker 2The sweetest place in the world Is where you're from. That was our number three, from Keep Currency when you're from. Big tune, big tune 100%. And that means we're moving on to our number two, which we already briefly said something about. Yeah, because it has a feature with. Viking. Ding Dong, and you already said it's also a Problem. Child project Fall Down.
Speaker 4Our number two Can you tell us?
Speaker 8a little bit about that. Yeah, yeah, it's kind of like the same story, but I was actually at work at that time when he sent it to me. He said he was trying to get um another artist on it with me, but then I think that artist he probably was busy uh, you know, he had different, like different plans. So yeah and then he told me don't worry, uh, he has someone else in mind. And he asked me if I know Viking. I said yeah.
Speaker 2I have heard of him.
Speaker 8yes, Good dude Good, dude up man, yeah and yeah. When he sent me he always said yo see this shot. Yeah, you got to practice this ASAP. You got to be voicing. You'll be voicing it very soon and then we didn't see how soon but I know I had to get it in my head.
Speaker 3So, yeah, boy, yeah, and I know it's a good thing because work was distracting me, but while I am at work, I was practicing.
Speaker 8Okay, getting into trouble at work because I'm not supposed to be using my phone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But um, I said to myself nah, yo, it has to happen.
Speaker 3This is me, yeah, yeah, literally.
Speaker 8Hiding away just looking after the boss. I'm just doing my thing.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, that's dope. That's dope Because this is also a big rhythm. It's the coulda shoulda rhythm. Yeah, skinny is on there. Obviously, problem is on there.
Speaker 8Obviously, problem is on there as well, so not just your.
Speaker 2You know small, tiny little rhythm. It's, it's, it's big and it was. I really like this song as well.
Speaker 8You know, this is just it's awesome it didn't really get it justice back home. I agree, I agree yeah, I.
Speaker 2I didn't hear it as much as I would expect it to hear it, you're right because. I remember when I was doing research for this little, for this, not little for this interview, um, uh, I played it because I I saw that you were on it and I just I recognized the song, but not like, oh, I've heard it so many times. But yeah, I heard this song, I liked it, but after that I just didn't hear it that much yeah, right no, I really like this song.
Speaker 8Yeah, from the first time he said it, I said said, yeah, I love this track. This track should do well in Vince Mazz. But you know that's how it is back home. Yeah, they will look to jam something at the side, even though they know it's going to take off, they will jam it to the side. Well, they literally push it to the side.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 8But you know what's for man, fun man, you know, no one can stop it.
Speaker 3So yeah it's the mafia it's something we discuss often as well right, there we go there, we go, yeah, but yeah nice, so problem wrote the song for you.
Speaker 8yes, is that, yeah, okay, cool, cool, cool. Yeah, he wrote the song for you. Yeah, is that? Yeah, okay, cool, cool, cool, cool. Yeah, he wrote the whole track. Yeah, with even Viking. That was part as well.
Speaker 3Oh, okay, nice, okay, right, yeah, yeah, nice, and did you ever meet up with Viking, or was it just like he recorded his part in his studio where he was, and then? You recorded your part, so you've not met him in person.
Speaker 8Never met in person but we, you know, we chat on WhatsApp or Instagram. Of course, yeah, yeah, yeah, he was supposed to come to Vinci because we was going to film the video, but then things got sideways, you know, yeah, yeah yeah of course, that's how it is Life happens. Damn, that's crazy I know, if we didn't get the video, it might take the song a bit further, you know of course yeah, because sometimes visuals do help.
Speaker 8Yeah, that's why I love doing visual, like every year, of course I try my best to do at least two visuals okay nice, yeah, every year that makes sense.
Speaker 4I like that stay consistent man yeah, 100.
Speaker 2And it's the new age right where, where this digital thing is just like a normal thing now, like it enables you to have features or be on tracks with other artists that are thousands of miles away.
Speaker 6Yeah, so yeah, exactly dope, yeah, definitely well, I think we should have a listen let's do it.
Speaker 8Yep, let's go. I drink a rum and I follow.
Speaker 7I'm not going home until I'm done. I drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it until I'm in the condo. I drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it until I'm in the condo. I don't care who's there watching me and I don't care who say they watching me, and I don't care who want to talk about me. It's me and me.
Speaker 2Bottle Rock over people is the motto yeah, I saw a city ram chum me down, they chum me down. And so what if I start tumble down? Leave me, let me tumble down. So what if I start a rain? Leave me, let me start a. I don't care what nobody say, but they not call me a murderer. I drink a rum and I follow. I don't care what nobody say, but tell the puffy and other. I drink a rum and I fall down. I not going home until I'm done. I drink a rum and I fall down. I not going home until I'm done. I drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it until all is left. I know. Drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it, drink it until all is left. I know, and that was Fall Down. Featuring Viking Ding Dong. That leaves us with our number one chance.
Speaker 3Number one. I think, rko, you should do the honors because, should I do it again, this is your song.
Speaker 2This is a big tune.
Speaker 8Yeah, just wet them down now. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4Super.
Speaker 2Soca, and there are so many layers to this title, the video. Okay, we'll get to that, but anyway, how did this song come to life, please?
Speaker 8oh my god, I think that's the best song that I've like voiced, and he noticed me, like you. You really love this song, though, because I I voiced that one in a in a flash.
Speaker 3Okay, oh, really.
Speaker 8Yeah, he actually know like nah, but yeah, we love that song he saw the passion. Anything, any song, when it comes to the ladies like yeah, oh, yeah, that's why Classic Shorns?
Speaker 8As soon as we finished Voice that song, like, because we At the same night when I told you my voice kicked out, we, like, we were voice, yeah, majority. All them songs that night, it's just the one, the last one, yeah that. You know we had to wake up in the morning, finish it, yeah, but yeah. As soon as we have to wake up in the morning, finish it, yeah, but yeah. As soon as we finish super so far I start planning video in my head, you know, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like unreal buying super soakers.
Speaker 8I couldn't, I couldn't wait to film that video like yeah I could imagine yeah, as soon as that video came out, you know, and I said it's, you know, wicked yeah as soon as that video came out and I said it to him.
Speaker 2So yo wicked man, yep. And you know what I like about it is it easily can become if it not already has become like an anthem for soca. So how I found this was because of a mix called super soca. So there was this mix.
Speaker 4I forgot the eyes.
Speaker 2By now I should have written it down, but jester oh jester yeah, jester did a like, does a a thing called super soca s-u-p-a-s-o-c-a. Uh, 23, 24, 20 anyway he did a couple of times. Yeah, he did 20 yeah, he did.
Speaker 3It's all from miami actually I see it, now it's Miami.
Speaker 2It's like a Miami mix, but it's with Dr J. It's very hype. It's all these people and they are ad-libbing this mix. Super Soca. And I think in the 23 or the 24 version. They start with your song.
Speaker 3Okay.
Speaker 2So it's like obviously Super Soca is like the, but obviously it's Super soca, is soca, it's super soca it's also the super soca.
Speaker 8That's ways to use it, you know, unique? Yeah, that's very unique yeah, I like that.
Speaker 2Yeah, exactly, it is very unique. Yeah, and it's a strength of the song as well, in a sense, because anybody can can claim it as their anthem, if you want to call that like oh, you know, I'm a fan of soca, super soca, and it's just so addictive it's just yeah, yeah yeah, dope, should we have a listen? Yes, we should, because these people we're keeping the listeners in suspense.
Speaker 3They're like what super soca?
Speaker 2oh, this sounds like I want to hear it already this is the downside of doing it the way we're doing it, Like we talk about it first, then listen to it, Because these people are like why? Is he shouting Supersoka the whole time.
Speaker 3I don't know Literally, you're a bad man, what is this?
Speaker 4Yeah, exactly, let's have a listen to our number one, supersoka, super Sofa.
Speaker 2I start to wind up. If you're wet, wet your body. Wet wet your outfit, wet wet. You hate the wet wet nerd.
Speaker 7Wind up wind, wind up baby, get on, get on, get on, baby, get on, get on, get on baby, play up your phone, tell them you're bad.
Speaker 8Then you're wet as ever, start looking bad. You're soaking wet everything but your wet Super Soba. They call it wet Super Soba. We like it, wet Super Soba. They call it wet Super Soba. We like it. Wet. Got tattoo. Why not if you're?
Speaker 3wet your body, wet your outfit, wet your hairstyle. Wet got that to wind up with your wet. Wet your body wet. Wet your outfit wet. Wet your hairstyle. Wet got that to wind up with your wet. Wet your body wet. Wet your outfit wet. Wet your hairstyle wet, wet, wet. And that was Super Soaker, big tune.
Speaker 8Big tune and yo, so make sure y'all go and check the visual out, because it's a big one. Y'all won't be disappointed. I'm going to love it. Y'all going to watch it over and over and over again because it's addictive, trust me. You need to watch it. Go check it out. Fact, fact, fact. It's super, super.
Speaker 2Let's make sure we'll put the link to the visual in the description so people can just click and go yeah, exactly because you know people are lazy, I'm not gonna lie to you.
Speaker 3Sometimes I just want everything in front of me so I could just click. Sometimes I don't like to search, so we will have the link in the description people out with that.
Speaker 2No problem there we go there we go.
Speaker 8It's funny, oh, it's so funny that you know we we be lazy lazy to go through and click on stuff. But you know you ever notice like when something really messed up happened, like some people don't really care, they're just going to go search for that thing to see. That's me, Trinidad.
Speaker 3Killer, for example, trinidad Killer and this Eskimo song on the Big Links rhythm. I was searching that TikTok X aka Twitter.
Speaker 2Spending all your energy in there. Instagram like literally.
Speaker 3When it's drama and I want to know about that drama, I'm going to click and search and do whatever bro.
Speaker 8I think it's just the way it is, man. It's just the way it is Priorities. And.
Speaker 2I think Trina Killer knows this and uses it as well.
Speaker 3There we go, there we go.
Speaker 2Anyway, you know, there's one last question, and it's Sean's favourite question, Right?
Speaker 3so this question I ask everybody who comes on the podcast. So, and you could only give me one answer. I don't want to hear oh, can it be more than one? I don't want to hear it, Otherwise cut, You're gone and you don't want to hear oh can it be more than one? I don't want to hear it otherwise cut, you're gone and you don't. You don't want that, trust me yeah because I'm a big meanie, right.
Speaker 3So if you could be stuck in a studio with any Soca artist who you've not worked with before, dead or alive, who would it be, and why?
Speaker 8Tupac.
Speaker 3Tupac's, not a Soca artist. Oh, you said Soca.
Speaker 8Yeah.
Speaker 3Dead or alive.
Speaker 7I don't like the answer though. Well, that's an original answer, that's definitely original.
Diving into the Drama
Speaker 8I got caught up when you said Dead or Alive. I didn't really realize. You said Soca, soca artist.
Speaker 2I would love to see you call him a Tupac, though I would love to see a Soca song with Tupac. That's going to be interesting.
Speaker 8Bring him out, bring him into that, so that soca shit, yeah, 100, I know you will. I need this singing soco with me like imagine okay, okay, okay, um poor child that's.
Speaker 2That's an ai from right there, by the way, tupac singing soca let me see what happens.
Speaker 8I think, yeah, I think they need to go on AI with that shit going.
Speaker 3Trust me, try it see it might go viral who knows?
Speaker 8it might help the Soca stage.
Speaker 3Who knows? I'll talk to AI and tell them please share the result please I'm literally here for it now the seed has been planted in my head. I want to hear it. I'm here for it alright, Soca artist then Dead or alive? Good question Now. Maybe try and think outside the box, maybe not?
Speaker 6the obvious Truth.
Speaker 3However, you didn't understand the assignment. It wasn't Soca. Do you know what? Just say whoever you want. You can say the obvious. If you want to or not, we've had some Bungie.
Speaker 8Bungie is my boy, bungie.
Speaker 3Okay, cool We've had Bungie a few times and we understand why. But you explain your reasons why. Why Bungie?
Speaker 8Bungie reminds me of problems, okay he reminds, me of um problems. So you know okay and down that line. You know he's very miracle. First time like yes, he is he's a real youth. He's a real, you know, in terms of down to earth and stuff like that. Yeah, my energy vibe with him, so that's the reason why here okay, nice.
Speaker 3Yeah, I accept that yeah, definitely is a lyrical genius, mate.
Speaker 2Yep.
Speaker 3Literally. But I think I've said this before I think that his lyrics might be a bit too complicated for Sokka, because if you think about all the popular Sokka songs, the lyrics are pretty simple If you get it.
Speaker 8But I listen, bungie lyrical genius, just the way you put them. Sometimes it just you know.
Speaker 2Yeah, and I'll give him this like lately, like this season, like Bungie is dropping hit after hit at the moment. So you know, yes, he is very lyrical, maybe too lyrical for some people. Who the wish do you miss me?
Speaker 2you know that's our songs like literally, come on, we all yeah you know it's, it's, but he's, he's there, he's still in the top, you know, and he's, he's, he's got a hold on that as well, and, and even though he keeps doing his own thing, yeah, and I really no one can take, no one can take that away from him never, no one never.
Speaker 8That's just that is just him, that one he is yeah like literally.
Speaker 3I remember he performed at IB for Soka Festival last year and he literally just freestyled on stage and included. Yeah, he started talking about like IB for Soka and all of that. I was just like this guy is just incredible I'm just standing there jealous like I can't even freestyle a nursery rhyme, freestyling about what's happening around me right at that point. That's crazy.
Speaker 2He's so talented and I've seen you try insurance as well.
Speaker 3So, mate, mate, I tried doing some freestyling myself and um it was a good video that was made anyway dj shots.
Speaker 2Exactly that's how it started.
Speaker 3Anyway, back to the music sorry, sorry, I apologize, this is my fault again.
Speaker 8This is always happening he got you again, got you again literally I'm sorry guys, I'm so sorry he was just waiting on you to literally. This is the thing.
Speaker 3This is the thing. It's better. I just just stop talking now. Okay, I'm not talking anymore. I'm done I'm locking up my lips done take it away, okay, anyway no, we.
Speaker 2We just have one very important question remaining, and that is where do people find you?
Speaker 8so give us your socials, your, uh, social media accounts, I mean, not your social security bank account, credit card details just tell us where people can find you, please yeah, yeah, so you can find me on um instagram, eat currency music, and that music spelled with um, z I a at the end. Um facebook is eat or rent currency and um basically that youtube is just key currency and you'll find me okay, yeah we'll also make sure, yeah yeah, yeah, for sure, the instagram will be linked.
Speaker 3There people can just click yeah and they will find you I do.
Speaker 8I do have another instagram. It's currency dance, or as well. No, no, no, we don't want that, we're not interested in that I know, I know, I know, sorry, you cannot come into soca and try not coming between me you guys, let's not do that.
Speaker 3This is so far chronicles not dance.
Speaker 8Still you are, stay where you are, literally don't come around here with that nonsense cut. Don't try that ever again, don't ever try to tell me, don't ever try to tell me to to mention you understand if people are interested.
Speaker 2luckily you have always it, so people can still go and visit Because RKO is Mr Nice Guy Like no, oh, sean, you're so mean.
Speaker 3No, no, it's fine.
Speaker 2There's this software that if we see people going there then they will be automatically kicked from the Circle Chronicles follow page or whatever right, that's the problem.
Speaker 4If it's even possible.
Speaker 2No, it's all good. I think the last thing to say, then, is thank you very much for your time.
Speaker 3Yes, it's been a pleasure.
Speaker 2I really enjoyed this. There's a lot of banter involved here, so thanks for that and you know, me, I love banter.
Speaker 8I appreciate you guys. This is a wake up call for me. I woke up and I rushed out and said like wait, damn shit, it's today, today's the 17th, right? So what the hell? Then I start, I start wandering, wandering in the room, and I start, and I check my phone and I realize I get the email again I say yeah, yeah, we must have time, yeah yeah, listen don't worry, but you know it happens the way it's supposed to happen so you know exactly. But you know it happens the way it's supposed to happen.
Speaker 3So you know, yeah, exactly, you made it.
Speaker 8I'm grateful. You know it's a pleasure meeting you guys as well. Yeah, definitely likewise the pleasure is mine, ours, sorry, ours definitely big up to the circle chronicles guarantee representing you don't know, be outside, hooray, hooray, I love it, love it yo problem, pick up yourself. Anyway, they owe real time.
Speaker 2There we go. I love that man. Yeah, I'm here with Janine Chronicles that was our interview with Keith Currency. Mr Curay Curay or Mr Super Soca yeah, big tune, honestly, I keep saying it definitely anyway this is the third artist we've spoken that has like a link with Proven Child. Yeah, it's actually it's actually crazy, it is actually this is the third artist we've spoken that has like a link with Problem Child. Yeah, I'm loving it. It's actually crazy, it is.
Speaker 3Actually like Problem Child. He just pops up every time he's helping different people. I knew that I had respect for the guy, but bro it's time to get him on the podcast.
Speaker 7It's time to get him on, oh I agree.
Speaker 2I don't know how I'm going to make it happen but I've got to make something happen.
Speaker 3Let's make something happen. We'll try it, but let's just speak it into the universe.
Speaker 4Yes.
Speaker 3And then, guys, if you're listening, you guys need to like tag Problem Child and be like yes. We want to hear you on soca chronicles podcast. Just mention janine from london and then he'll be like oh, janine, and then we can make it happen to guys.
Speaker 3Tag problem child 100 yeah, boy this is soca chronicles now the uk soca scene this month was rocked with some really terrible news. We heard about the passing of white boy Weiner, who was pretty close to me. I'd say, and yeah, it's been tough, it's been tough. So I just want to say RIP, white boy. I really hope you're at peace now. And I think, rko, we should just play one of his Newest songs.
Speaker 2Just as a tribute.
Speaker 3So, guys, this is Dutty Diana by White Boy. Let's go.
Speaker 7Hoi.
Speaker 6We look fast gonna now. Yeah, hoi, hoi, hoi, it's the white boy again. It's the white boy again. Lahti Diana. She say she want a banana. She say she want no drama. But I take her, why not she daughter? Lahti Diana, she say she want a banana. She working hard in the yard. Now she say she want any hammer. So so my gimme, hada na na na, hada na na na, and what she name Diana na na na, diana na na na, and so she like it. Hada na na na, hada na na na.
Speaker 6She say she don't want to play no games. But Dutty Diana, play with me. She reaching down in her juve. She mad. She making her move it. She have enough man out of their mind. She drinking at the bar I make you pay. She getting on just like this cha. She up in the band like Lucy. She hearing she favorite chapters. So climb up on the fence and move it, move it.
Speaker 6Diana, crazy the way she whine. She not lazy. Put me in the place like bloody hell man. The way she whine is amazing. Diana crazy the way she whine. She not lazy, put me in the place like bloody hell man. The way she whine is amazing, bloody Diana. She say she want a banana. She say she want to know drama but I take her while she loves her Dottie Diana. She say she want a banana. She walking hard in the yard now. She say she want to know hammer Dottie Diana. She say she want to know hammer Dottie Diana. She say she want to know hammer Dottie Diana. She say she want to know hammer Dottie Diana. She say she want to know hammer Dott.

We'll be back next month for another episode and hopefully another interview. But if there isn't an interview, it's okay, because you can just listen to myself and RKO speaking sweet nothings into your ears oh well, that was a lot of aim as R, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2I think that was great speaking of which I think we should just let our dear friend Nitro say a few words before we go.
Speaker 5Make sure you check out Soca Chronicles. Tag a friend, tell a friend, share the podcast. Let people know that this exists because it's good for the culture, it's good for the vibe, it's good for the energy, it's educational, it's fun, it's funny, it's bantiful and it's good and the people that you're involved with listening to.
