Welcome to Soca Chronicles
Speaker 1Welcome to the Soca Chronicles. Soca Chronicles with Sharns and RKO.
Speaker 2Welcome to the 44th episode of Soca Chronicles, the podcast that brings you everything Soca. I'm RKO and I'm digitally sitting next to the one and only Sharns.
Speaker 3Yaga yo, yaga yo, yaga yo.
Speaker 2We're back with the weird yo's. I love it. Last month felt so normal yeah.
Speaker 3I know so lazy, but I'm back.
Speaker 2She is back. This month will be a bit of a short episode, seeing that Sharns has a big event to prepare for and myself, rko, I've been training my liver for the last three weeks, so hopefully, you know, my liver will be ready for whatever is coming my way in that event that, uh, sharns is organizing. So we will. Good luck, exactly. But next month we will come back double with more content and more stuff. Gonna try something new so stay tuned, yeah boy doesn't mean we have nothing to discuss.
Speaker 3For example exactly by the time this airs, it's jamaica carnival time aha, bomba clout wow six pussycloak eggs that meme my fucking favourite meme ever, by the way, oh my god. Anyway, I need to wait, do you know what I thought you said? What I thought you said fix your pussyclar legs. And then, when you mentioned meme, that's when I clocked six pussycart eggs yeah, I can feed a whole family for this.
Speaker 2Oh my god, I have it on repeat sometimes. Not gonna lie, to lie, it makes my day end week.
Speaker 3Listen, that's crazy, because that meme there I felt that in my chest.
Speaker 2You know what I mean.
Speaker 3Because you know, I've been in that situation where I've been cussed for eggs.
Speaker 1And that's a whole nother story A whole nother story bro.
Speaker 2I am actually dead yeah.
Speaker 3I'm not even going to get into that story, because anyone who knows me knows about that story boy.
Speaker 2So yeah, that that meme triggered me. Yeah, I hear that. I hear that. Listen, we are gonna move on. So jamaican carnival when you, if you're there, have fun.
Speaker 2Please have a drink for us even though I train my liver, I would be ready, but I'm not. I'm not there. I mean, I am ready but I'm not there, so it's all good. So drink for us. Have a good time, please, and let us know how it was. And if there's any drama, you can post to us or you can post to Photosoka. One of the two, it's fine.
Speaker 3Yeah, exactly, either way, exactly.
Jamaica Carnival & Barbados Drama
Speaker 2But there was some. There was some drama already in Barbados Excuse my accent With some export products from Jamaica, if you can call it that, yeah, literally Six pussy rat clad eggs.
Speaker 3Panaista Sunday Sorry, sorry. Don't make me laugh I don't know where that came from. I'm dead.
Speaker 2I don't know, where that came from. I need to host a podcast. I'm dead.
Speaker 3I don't know, I don't know where that came from, but anyway, you fell on your chest Back to. The drama. Yeah, so Vibes Cartel had a concert On Easter Sunday, which is where the Six pussy clap, six pussy ass clap, expanded Easter Sunday. That's where that came from In my head. It made sense in my head and when it came out of my mouth it was like, yeah, chance allow it. Anyway. The concert was on Easter Sunday. For anybody who's Religious they'll know. You know, easter Sunday, the day the Lord Rose, you know.
Speaker 2It's not the day to talk about Pussyclat eggs.
Speaker 3There we go and skin out your mm-mm and all them things there. It's not the day for that. You know what I'm saying. Not the day for jumping off speaker boxes and daggering out gyal and ting and ting. You know what I'm saying. However, that's when the concert was Cool. I don't have a problem with it, because everybody knows I'm a heathen, I'm on a first class ticket to hell. We all know that. So I'm me and religion. We don't go together. We mix like aisle and water.
Speaker 3You know I'm saying anyway, there were protests in Barbados, the streets of Barbados, that people were protesting saying that the concert shouldn't happen on Easter Sunday how it's a holy day, etc. Etc. And I hear it, obviously for somebody who's religious this dancehall artist coming over performing. We know that Vibes Cartel is notorious for his gyal tune where he's talking about their underneath and, and you know, putting things inside their things. You know what I'm saying. I'm not going to go into it, but you know what I mean. You know he's not very holy.
Speaker 2Oh, I'm dead.
Speaker 3So yeah.
Speaker 1It must have been a good event, though.
Speaker 2Yeah, just go to church first in the morning and then go out to dagger some gal, why not? Oh my goodness.
Speaker 3So imagine that you go to church in the morning to wash your sins, to then go and sin later. On I mean, it would need to be the other way around, didn't you go to the concert? So let's say the concert was on the saturday, then you go to church on the sunday morning to wash your sins from the night before so they're gonna have to wait. It's fine, it's fine literally, they have to wait like a whole week, yeah, to wash their sins again feel dirty that whole week dirty life we live in.
Speaker 3So yeah, I just thought that was, that was a bit crazy, yeah but, um, exactly, yeah, so that's what was happening in bim. I know quite a few of my friends went to the concert. I've not really had a chance to talk to them About it yet, about how it went, but I'm sure they had a great time.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, I can only imagine, it makes sense.
Speaker 3So yeah, that's that.
Speaker 2Well then, I think it's time to talk About music.
Speaker 3Music I want to talk about Music.
Speaker 2Be careful, because I Will jingle that oh sugar, yeah, like I did with the other one charlotte's favorite question anyway, let's get into the music. Let's go soca chronicles before we start with our recurring returning song of the month, I just want to highlight a new song from one of our artists that we've had the pleasure of hosting Sizzway C has a new song and it's called 100 100. Yeah boy, 100 pussy clawed eggs. You wanna have a listen to it? Just some little promo.
Speaker 3Yeah, go for it, let's go. Yeah, there's a hundred ways to bite you now choose one Live life.
Speaker 1We on a hundred, fretting till we a hundred, touchdown, we got effects till warming up bad vibes is unwanted. So just think up we on a hundred good vibes, we on a hundred, that's all the drinks them calling me in this town. We on a hundred. Tiny walk in this session is a hundred feelings. Everything turn up way up. It's like a hundred ceilings Can't stop the vibes. This one would have a hundred meanings. Don't tell me about last call, cause I'm not leavin', cause we think non-stop. Keep the vibes goin' on, feel the energy, make the system move along. Can't stop the session. Tell them we ain't going home All round the sets cause we going two for two. This how we live life. We on a hundred, fetting till we're a hundred. Touchdown, we got the feds still. Warming up Bad vibes is unwanted. So just Think up we on a hundred Good vibes, we on a hundred. Ask how they drinks them.
Speaker 2Call it we need that was Sis With C 100. Released on his birthday, by the way. So happy belay birthday to Sis With C, and this is what you would call an Afro Soca fusion track, and it's definitely not your Power Soca or your Groovy Soca, but it definitely has a vibe.
Speaker 3Oh, 100%, Ah 100. See what I did there.
Speaker 2I see what you did there. Love it.
Speaker 3Yeah, man, I like the song, definitely. I like it a lot.
Speaker 2I like it a lot and just a shout out to the what they do podcast that says we see, also running there's some good content on there. Make sure to check it out, because they are talking real shit.
Speaker 3Yeah, definitely, and um, in october you might catch me on there. I don't know how, but I'm gonna make it happen that's gonna be exciting. I'll make it happen because the joke to be exciting, I'm going to make it happen. Because the joke is I was supposed to be on it In October last year when I was in Miami for Carnival yeah, but I couldn't make it.
Speaker 2Which was really annoying. Shh Stopped chatting my business RKO Because you went drunk Because you had A over and it had to be cured with my alcohol.
Speaker 1I like it a lot Anyway, sorry.
Speaker 2We're moving on to the song of the month.
Speaker 3I like it a lot.
Speaker 2Well then, please announce this song, because I know you do like it a lot, this one.
Speaker 3This month the song of the month. Let's see if you've guessed it by now. Anybody who knows this song Would have guessed it by now.
Speaker 4Anybody who knows this song would have guessed it by now I like this rhythm, I like it a lot the song of the month this month is f y m.
Speaker 3I'm not gonna say the actual title because remember, I don't swear fym or f your man by mr rich and problem child. I like it a lot. Yes, I like it a lot. Big, big, big, big, big tune. The way this song goes off in the parties over here in in london is insane. Over the easter weekend I went to a good few events and every single time that song was played in the event people were going off. The song got pulled up, pulled up, pulled up, pulled up enough times love it big song.
Speaker 3I personally love it, absolutely love it. But anyway, enough of me talking RKO, let's play the song.
Speaker 2Let's go.
Speaker 1This is the song of the month. I like this rhythm. I like it a lot. Rich Problem the love Girl I don't care if you have a man, Fuck your man, we don't need champ. All we party as one. I don't care if you have a man, Fuck your man, we don't need champ. What happens? There's nobody Party party. What happens there's nobody Party party. What happens there's nobody Party party. What happens there's nobody Party party. What happens there's no party man.
Brawling: Celebrating Bajan Music
Speaker 1Like problem shall emerge when what your girl and send she back home After we just have broke. She back home, she say she is a lesbian. Which part a lesbian you come from. She say that she have a man. Like tell she this Girl, I don't care if you have a man, Fuck your man, we don't need jam. Or we party as one, I don't care if you have a man, Fuck your man, we don't need jam. What happens next? We party, Party party. What happens next? We party, Party party. What happens next? We party, Party party. What happens next? We party, Party party. What happens there's a party, Party party. What happens? There's a party, Party party, yo.
Speaker 2Rich, that was F your man by Mr Rich and Problem Child. So you mentioned that this song is being played all over the place in London, right, mm-hmm? Well, there's a certain Bayesian event tonight, actually of the day, this airs.
Speaker 4Will this have like?
Speaker 2Appearance there, because it's not Bajan.
Speaker 3Well, the song 100% Will get played Do you know, why? Because it's a big tune I'm playing. That's not why.
Speaker 2It should. Be why anyway?
Speaker 3But it's not the whole reason why. So, as you guys know, I've got my new event brawling, as RKO said, the day that this episode airs. It's going to happen that same night. So the idea of this event is not going to be a 100% Bajan event, as in 100 Bajan music it's. It's a soaker event, but every other DJ set is going to be 100% Bajan, if that makes sense. So the predominance at least half of the music you're going to hear that whole night is going to be beijing that is good exactly, exactly.
Speaker 3So it's just putting an emphasis on beijing music. That's, that's my idea, because what I've noticed in a lot of fets you don't really hear that much beijing music. I mean you might hear I don't know, maybe three, four, five bashment soaker songs, or you might hear like a couple of groovy songs or whatever, or a couple of power songs that are from barbados, and then that's it but trinidad soca is dominating all these parties. Even bouillon gets played more than beijing soca gets played.
Speaker 2You know I mean so yeah, for me it was a yeah. There's so much good beijing soca exactly so much good.
Speaker 3We've got good groovy, good power good bashment soca. There's even beijing dancehall that can get played, you know I mean. So yeah for me it's a case of. I just want to put a spotlight on beijing music, because I know there are a lot of people like me that absolutely love it, whether they're Bajan or they're not Bajan. I mean a good example Mac. We need to get Mac on this podcast at some point yes, we do but Mac, if you don't know, mac is a DJ.
Speaker 3He's also was on radio as well, and Mac is Jamaican. Let's just put it out there Mac is Jamaican but his favorite genre, put it out there. Mac is Jamaican, but his favourite genre within Soka is Bashment Soka and he just loves Bajan music, like groovy power, whatever. Mac loves it. So he's basically like an honorary Bajan who's not Bajan. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So there are loads of people like Mac, obviously you yourself, rko you love Bajan music as well, yeah, let's get out of here.
Speaker 3I'm dodged. But you're also an honorary Bajan. The amount of times you've been to Kropova, yeah, king Baba's son, that's you. You know what I mean so you know, it's just to give people an experience that they wouldn't normally get yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2No, it's all good vibes as well, like definitely the thing I like about, like beijing soca is. It can be cute, it can be sweet yes dotty as fuck. It can be anything, you know what I mean like the most nastiestoka Not the most, actually, because Dominika is taking the crown, but before that Barbados was the winner. You know Groovy. There is some groovy songs that are on repeat in my playlist from five to ten years ago.
Speaker 2That are still epic, Some of the biggest names came from Barbados. If I look at Alison Hines, you know like big Ahsoka names Exactly. So, yeah, man man it needs to get the attention it deserves, and it will get that on your event brawling exactly, and that's the whole point that's why I'm there yeah, boy.
Speaker 3So RKO is making an appearance in London for the first time since last year, May for my birthday.
Speaker 3So yeah, man, we're outside If you can't make the one tonight, but maybe by the time you're listening to it, the events already passed. Fret, not my lovelies, because the next one is going to be on July, the 11th 2025. Same venue, same time, so stay tuned for that one. What I suggest you do is follow the events page. So it's TridentLDM on Instagram. Let me spell that out for you and let me make sure I spell it correctly this time, because there was an episode where I tried to spell it and I spelled it incorrectly and I don't even know how my god and english is my first language, so what excuse do I have?
Speaker 2none and there will be none accepted there we go also do is we just post it into the description of this episode, because why? Would you want to spell and write if you can just click?
Speaker 3this is true, but I'm gonna spell out anyway. So it's trident t-r-i-d-e-n-t-l-d-n. That you do realize.
Speaker 2I'm going back into the episode now to see what mistake you made, because I cannot imagine you making any mistakes I think I missed out the e. I really think I missed out the e yeah, yeah, yeah, I think it was like yeah something like that love it. Well, I shouldn't talk because I didn't notice, so probably my fault as well yeah, but english isn't your first language.
Speaker 3That could be your excuse.
Speaker 2It's not an excuse. I don't want to try on this though.
Speaker 3But yeah, people Follow the page, stay up to date. I may even get an artist For July 11th, but I'm not sure yet. It all depends. You know how it is, but yeah.
Speaker 2If there's a certain If you would just offer me, like a ticket to fly over, I would be accepting to be the artist on the 11th.
Speaker 3That's fine I mean, what would you sing?
Speaker 2yes, I'm not saying that you know people will come because I'm coming, but you know I'm happy to accept, you'll be singing um singing.
Speaker 3What's that song? White Boy Wackup.
Speaker 2White Boy Wackup. No, no, no, no, no, no, I'll keep my singing to the karaoke bar, and even there I won't sing, to be honest, boy.
Speaker 3I mean, I'm sure that the people in the karaoke bar Will very much appreciate that, exactly, golly. But yeah, man. So if you guys will, let me know which beige and soca artists would you like to see at the event? Please do not tell me little rick, because I cannot afford little rick. Please do not tell me alison hines. I cannot afford alison hines. Okay, thank you. So please try to go for artists that are within my budget, okay. So let me just throw some suggestions out there. Hmm, stiffy stabby, grateful justy, um. Lead pipe and sadist mole, um, what other artists help me out? Rko, what other eyes can I throw out there?
Speaker 3stiffy I said stiffy was like the first one I said, I said mole already bro were you not? Listening to me peter ram um marsville justy, it's just I said justy already bro more, more.
Speaker 2Why?
Speaker 3are you not listening?
Speaker 4You're killing me.
Speaker 3Because now you're doing this on purpose.
Speaker 2Just Jay as a DJ is not within my budget. Puffy as a DJ is not within my budget. It's not within your budget. It's not within my budget.
Speaker 3Hyper Sounds, hyper Sounds, yeah.
Speaker 2Edison Hines.
Speaker 3For goodness sake, but yeah you get the, but yeah, you get the drift you get the drift. So any artist that you'd love to see, please let us know in the comments. Yeah, because I will pay attention to all of this and that will base my decision on the artist that I bring in july, if I can bring an artist.
Speaker 2I'd have to come again.
Speaker 3Oh, 100%, you'd have to. Yeah 100% but don't worry if there's enough money within the budget, I can, you know, fly you over.
Speaker 4You know you could be like the road manager.
Speaker 3Hey, yes, because I know, you like to plan stuff and you're very organized.
Speaker 2I need that in my life, so there could be a space for you, rko, there could be. I can also be a space for you, rko, there could be. I can also be a professional groupie if you actually bring a big name in.
Ibiza Soca Festival & Upcoming Events
Speaker 3I mean, I know you'd be very good at that as well, because I've seen you in action, cha-cha.
Speaker 2Thanks bro. Anyway, it's not the only event that you're booked at right.
Speaker 3No, it's not. So, guys, let's roll over to may. As we know, may is the greatest month of the year because, of course, a queen was born in may, and we're talking about me, not any other queen it's a good me, yeah, so may is my birthday month and also in May we have Ibiza Soca Festival, and guess who is booked for it second year in a row.
Speaker 2Stabby no, just Jay no, dj Puffy no.
Speaker 3Shut up, lil Rick. Stop talking, because I'm sick and tired of you already. Rko Wasteman.
Speaker 1Wow, wild, rude, rude, I'm sorry who is it then?
Speaker 3It is me. I am booked for ISF once again, guys.
Speaker 3And yeah, so ISF is going back to Malta for a second year in a row, which is exciting. Um, the dates are the 15th till the 19th of May. Anyone who knows me knows that my birthday is on the 13th of May and I shall be flying out the day after my birthday, so I will be there. However, I have to leave before the 19th just because I have to go to barbados for a wedding. So I'm probably they've got. So let's go through the artists that they've got to perform yeah, yeah, yeah yeah they have kes Kes.
Speaker 3Oh, mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Speaker 4Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm, big artists, they've got Skinny Fabulous.
Speaker 1Ooh.
Speaker 3Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, they've got Lyrical.
Speaker 2Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm Big names. Yeah, they've got Mr Ridge. I like it a lot. Oh, wow, yep.
Speaker 2You, yep, you know what's that? Again, it's probably Charles Jordan, because then you know what's going to happen, mate.
Speaker 3I hope he's like a late addition Best late entry of the century, but he was booked last year, so chances are he's not going to be back again this year. They've also got Dash oh yeah, representing Grenada, and Ting and Ting. They've also got Vibes King, another one representing Grenada and Ting and Ting. They've also got Vibes King, another one representing Grenada, and they've got Pajo. Pajo and Vibes King were both previous guests of ours on the podcast.
Speaker 3So they will all be performing. And when I saw that Kes was performing I said I bet you they're going to have Kes performing on the day that I leave, and RKO when is Kes performing? Performing on the day that I leave, and RKO when is Kes?
Speaker 2performing, not on the day you leave.
Speaker 3The day that I leave. No, I know, I called it, I literally called it, because that is just the luck that I have. So I have to leave on the Sunday because my flight to Barbados is on the Tuesday and I don't want to risk leaving on Monday for then there to be an issue with my flight and then I can't get home Exactly. Exactly. And then I end up missing my flight to Bim on the Tuesday that can't happen.
Speaker 3So I just said you know what, fly back to Sunday. At least I've got the whole Monday to prepare myself before I fly out the Tuesday. And I made this plan before the whole madness in New Orleans happened, before all of that, because I just know, bruv, I know exactly.
Speaker 3Imagine, you know what I'm saying so yeah, so I am super, super, super excited for ISF. If there are any listeners here that are going to ISF, please let us know in the comments, because we're going to link up. We're outside celebrating my birthday. We're out nice side yo side there we go. Rko, I really wish that you could be there, man oh, same, same, same same because you've never done isf before, have you?
Speaker 2no, I have not. I really have seen it. I wanted it, but it wasn't in the cards and that's fine, because I always chose like barbados or grenada over that and I will never regret that, but uh yeah, it's uh, yeah it's a big thing, you know at some point we're gonna make it happen.
Speaker 3Oh yeah, 100, we're gonna make it happen for you, bro, 100 makes it happen. Yeah, man so that's that man, I'm excited for that, excited so much. And then obviously they've got the usual djs freeze is going to be there, gel's going to be there international yeah, there we go.
Speaker 3And obviously we've got a whole cast of uk djs I mean super nitro's book this year for the first time. So Brap, brap, brap, brap. So you know another previous guest of ours and also he's just an integral part of the podcast because he does the? Outro for us, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2I was, I was about to say there we go.
Speaker 3So yeah, man, it's it's going to be sick, it's going to is dope man. So yeah, I need to be there at some point. Indeed, definitely so. The next episode that we have will be me giving my review of isf, and another event in may we have atlanta carnival so if anybody is going, please let us know in the comments. Post up videos, tag us if you want to tag us, because I'm trying to live vicariously for you guys. I've never been to atlanta carnival before, but at some point I will go.
Speaker 2I really want to go, so guys enjoy if you are going yep, yep, yep, that sounds like a vibe as well definitely all right, I think this is all we had to talk about for this month's episode and, like I said, it's a short one, but we will be back with more content next month. We have some tricks up our sleeves, so be sure to check that one out.
Speaker 3Why are you keeping it a secret, RKO?
Speaker 2Of course Of course.

Speaker 2So let's go to our Integral part of our show Super Nitro.

Let people know that this exists because it's good for the culture, it's good for the vibe, it's good for the energy, it's educational, it's fun, it's funny, it's bantiful and it's good for you to just know a little bit about the people that's making your music and the people that you're involved with listening to and with that, we're gonna wish you a safe rest of the month.
