Andrea Nordling
Welcome back to The Profitable Nutritionist Podcast, my friend. I have a doozy for you today. I'm going to ask you a question that could potentially make you a little uncomfortable. And honestly, this question made me uncomfortable when I asked it of myself recently. So of course, I'm going to bring it here for you. Here's the question. Are you a product of your product? Are you actually living what you teach, or are you expecting people to hire you to help them to do something that you're not actually doing yourself? Now, I'm just not only talking about eating vegetables and drinking water here, okay? It could be coming up for you, but usually it's way more than that, so stick with me.
00:45
Andrea Nordling
And before you answer, I want you to notice, if anything just happened in your brain when I asked that question, did you immediately go to, oh, my gosh. Well, I mean, I'm not perfect, so I guess I'm not. I guess I'm not a product of my product because I don't do everything perfectly all the time. If that was coming up for you, I'm so glad you're listening right now because honestly, that is the trap and we're going to talk about it today along with a few other things. So that trap, the first thing we're talking about is where you hold on to standards that you'd never actually expect from your clients, but you hold onto them for yourself. It's not good, by the way. Spoiler. That's not what we want to be doing.
01:22
Andrea Nordling
It's not helpful for you, it's not helpful for your people, it's not helpful for your business. The second thing we're going to talk about is an energetic truth about why your best messaging falls flat when you're not living integrity with what you teach. And again, this comes up in some sneaky, unexpected ways. So we're going to dive into how this could be showing up for you, and then I'm going to give you a simple reflection question that's going to show you exactly where you are right now on this spectrum of integrity and being a product of your product and where you might need to recalibrate. This has definitely been coming up for me recently, which is why it's top of mind. So let's talk about it, shall we?
01:59
Andrea Nordling
The first thing, like I said, that we really need to dive into is the perfection trap. Now, here's what I see happening with so many nutrition professionals, health and wellness business owners, health coaches, whoever you are listening to this episode right now, that helps clients with a health Transformation in some way. I am talking to you. You have so much grace for your clients. I know this about you because I work with hundreds and hundreds of you. You give them all of the latitude. You expect progress, not perfection from your clients. You have processes for helping them get on track when they get off track. And you have so much grace for them when they tell you that they ate the cake at the birthday party or they skipped their supplements for a week or they're super stressed and they haven't been sleeping well.
02:45
Andrea Nordling
You do not think less of your clients when this happens for them. They're like, of course this happens. This is called life. You don't think that they're a failure. You don't tell them they're not going to get results because they're not perfect. None of that happens. None of that happens. But for yourself, could be a different story. Again, I coach a lot of people on this, and. And I'm guilty of the same thing. So I'm going to say us. I'm not going to say you. I'm not going to say me. I'm going to say us. The humans in this world, especially the ones that are coaches, that are helping people get to big goals. And we have big goals for ourselves. We expect perfection from ourselves before, like, we. Before we feel like we can help people.
03:24
Andrea Nordling
A lot of times, this is where this comes up. Not for everybody, there's nuances here, but for a lot of people, we think, okay, I have to have this all dialed in first. I have to have this perfectly done. I have to do the process perfectly. I have to always be. Fill in the blank, X, Y, Z thing, whatever it is, so that I can help people, so I can help more people, so I can help people better. Like all sorts of sneaky thoughts that our brain will offer up in this scenario to keep us playing small. Because really, that's what's happening here. When our brain offers up and has resistance to doing the things, it comes up with a lot of really compelling reasons, usually ones that play to our deepest fears.
04:05
Andrea Nordling
And one of our deepest fears as compassionate coaches and people who help people is that, what if I can't help them? What if I can't really help them get results? What if I'm a fraud? What if I'm actually an imposter? What if none of this is real and I can't actually help them? Oh, my gosh. I would be. That would be the worst case scenario. If I was out of integrity in that way, I would die this is like the catastrophe that it sounds like in our brain. And our brains use that against us. Like, this is your deepest fear that you're out of integrity and you're actually misrepresenting what you can help your clients with.
04:39
Andrea Nordling
So I'm going to use that to make sure that you play small and you don't actually go help more people and you don't actually grow your business and you don't actually help any people. Maybe it is that you don't even start your business. Whatever it is that resistance when it comes up of like, well, you don't have this all figured out yet. You're not perfect. It's just a perfectionism trap. Okay? We don't need to be perfect. We don't need to be any version of perfect that's not even real. That's not even attainable, that's not even a thing. So let's just first call that out. Go. Okay. Interesting. Nobody's health is dialed in 100% of the time. Nobody doesn't struggle with their health. Nobody does. Nobody does. So let's just stop thinking that we have to be this expert Persona with unrealistic expectations.
05:25
Andrea Nordling
Never screw up, have it all figured out. People tell me, oh my gosh, I have to be able to answer every question that somebody asks me. Otherwise they're going to know I'm like, I'm not an expert, I'm a fraud. They're going to think less of me. They're going to think I'm less professional. There's so many stories for others. It's like if people knew that I ate pizza sometimes, they would never hire me. What? Wait, your people want to know that they can eat pizza sometimes? Let's talk about it. People feel like they're still battling their own health problems. They're still having flare ups from their own health stuff like, how can I help people? How can I help any people? How can I help more people? How can I scale my business?
06:00
Andrea Nordling
How can I do any of this if I don't have it all figured out yet? Perfect Perfectly. And the truth is that your people, they don't need to see you perfect. They don't even want to see you perfect. That's intimidating. That's not ideal. What they really want is they want to see you living in constant breakthrough. They want to see you figuring it out. They want to see how you navigate times when you're busy and it isn't perfect timing and it isn't all going perfectly when you're not feeling great, when you're sick, when the kids are sick, when you're having a health flare up, they want to see what that looks like for you. So they can see that you can help them figure it out when it happens for them.
06:37
Andrea Nordling
They need to see you keep going even when things aren't ideal, because that is life. That's just living as a human on earth. The timing isn't ever perfect. The stars don't actually align to where we have no other priorities in our life other than this one goal. And we have all the time in the world to apply towards it. And it's all going to go perfectly and the results are always linear and predictable. None of that is actually the thing. And if you unintentionally model for your clients that it is the thing for you, then they're going to feel so defeated when it isn't for them, and they're going to feel so intimidated and they're going to be so hard on themselves when they shouldn't be.
07:16
Andrea Nordling
Because you're not actually hard on your clients when any of these life things come up for them now are you? It's so fun, isn't it? It's so fun how our brains brain in this way. So that's really the through line here. Your clients lives are not perfect, nor is yours. And if the only version they ever see from you is this facade of perfection, they just won't believe that they can do it. They won't believe that it's possible without being perfect. And so they'll be looking for the time when they could be perfect. And that time isn't ever coming. This is when people are like, oh my gosh, this sounds so good, but I have to get back to you in two months. In two months would better.
07:56
Andrea Nordling
What they're really thinking is in two months I'll be able to do this more perfectly than I can right now. So you unintentionally modeling that gives that idea that there's a perfect that they're looking for perfect. They should be doing perfect. The shiny Instagram reels with all the perfect. Perfect. Perfect is not helping. Okay, so the question that you need to ask yourself is, am I being unrealistic about needing to be perfect? Usually we are. Again, this is a spectrum. But in some way you probably are. I know, I have been. I will talk about that in a second. But answer this for yourself. Are you being unrealistic about needing to be perfect or needing to give the impression of being perfect somewhere somehow? Because again, that is not what's required. Not even close.
08:41
Andrea Nordling
But what is required as a coach, as somebody who helps people with transformation, is. Is to be living the philosophy that you teach very imperfectly, most of the time, especially imperfectly, I would argue, which means you're walking your talk. You're actually a product of your product. You are resting when you're stressed instead of just telling clients that they should be resting. But then you're actually burning the midnight oil, doing business stuff, doing life stuff. I'm talking to you right here. Means you're actually eating real food and moving your body and going outside for walks and getting sunshine. It means you're actually addressing things when they're out of balance in your life and in your body instead of ignoring them. It means that you're actually asking for help when you need it. That's a big one. We're going to get to that in a second.
09:29
Andrea Nordling
And it means you're living in the same foundational teachings that you teach your clients, but you're doing it with the same grace and compassion that you offer to those clients for yourself. You don't have to do it perfectly. We're never going to do it perfectly, but we have to be doing it not perfectly, but we have to be doing it. And here's what I realized recently. I've really been sucking at this. I really have been sucking at doing it imperfectly, perfectly. Talking about all of this. All of this has not been going well for me. And I didn't realize it until recently. So here's when I realized it. And I'm just going to be completely honest. I say that, like, I'm not usually honest, but I think on some level, maybe I haven't been, or I unintentionally have just been glossing over some stuff.
10:20
Andrea Nordling
So let me explain what I mean. I recently asked myself, would I be proud if my clients could look inside my life and my business right now? This is like a journal question. I asked myself, like, would I be proud of that if they could see just on a random Tuesday what this looks like in my life and in my business, how proud would I be on a scale of 1 to 10? And when I was really honest with myself, I was like, you know, best case, probably a six or a seven. Oh, my gosh, I can't believe I said that. I have a middle school boy, so if you know, okay, let's go with 6. If I'm honest with myself, I'm a 6.
10:54
Andrea Nordling
And that rating that I gave myself, 6 out of 10, proudness I would be for you to come and look inside my business on a random Tuesday. Actually, I'm recording this on a random Tuesday, so that's kind of fun. That 6 rating is why I'm recording this episode for you. And here's why. I rated myself a six. Maybe, if I'm being generous, a seven, but probably a six. I have been doing way less evaluating in my business over the last, I would say year, if I'm being honest, maybe a year and a half. Okay. I have not been doing the kind of evaluations that I historically have done, which have served me very well, made me a lot of money. I have been hustling a lot more in the last year to year and a half than I would like. Now.
11:37
Andrea Nordling
For me, hustle means I'm do, do. Okay? Like, do, do. Action, action. Doing the things, the to do list, checking them off the list. Unless think, evaluate, think, evaluate. I have not been coaching my brain at the level that I'm accustomed to and at the level, honestly, that grew my business the fastest. And some of those habits have slipped a little bit. And it has been slow that when I really think back on this, it's been slow how I have taken on more activities, grown. We've been doing different things, and I've had a lot more initiatives on my plate.
12:12
Andrea Nordling
And so because of that, I have let things like evaluations and coaching myself and coaching with a coach, and some of these things that used to be very top priority have become a little bit more back burner and then a little bit more over time. And it's been a slow change, but I can definitely see and now feel how this has compounded over time for me over the last year to year and a half, and when I really was, like, digging into this and journaling on this, like, oh, man, I feel like this is the thing. I have not been investing in a mindset coach for myself for over a year. And I can feel it. I can feel it.
12:51
Andrea Nordling
I can feel the difference in how I feel on a daily basis, weekly basis in my business, I can see the difference in results and in revenue. Even in my business, when I look closely. And I can really feel it in my hustle level, which is much higher than I would like it to be. So all of this, all of these little symptoms are pointing back to a root cause of, oh, Andrea, you haven't been doing the things that you want your clients to do. The things that you talk about. You haven't been doing them as diligently as you used to, and as a result, things feel different. So my question to myself upon this realization recently was, I am expecting people to do something that I'm not doing right now. This is what it feels like. It's a disconnect.
13:34
Andrea Nordling
And I immediately went out and I invested in a mindset coach for the next year. Like, immediately, as soon as I saw it and I had the awareness, it's like, oh, my goodness, are you serious? Let's go. So that check, which feels fantastic. And I thought about this. I really thought about this before outlining and recording this episode, but I was like, I just have to record an episode on this. I just need to do a little bit of a kind of an unfiltered rant is type episode where I just kind of talk about my thought process here. I also want to circle back to my rating here for a second because I want to be super clear.
14:08
Andrea Nordling
I didn't say that it wasn't a 10 because I wanted my business in my life to be perfect for you to see it and for it to be a 10. Like, I need to get all my ducks in a row. And then it would be a 10. And then I would be like, yeah, of course. Everybody, come see behind the scenes. That's not my rating here. 4. For me to be a 10 out of 10. Proud of you seeing inside my life and business on a random Tuesday, I would want you to see me evaluating and looking at what isn't working and trying again and troubleshooting it. And I would want you to see me coaching myself and evaluating some more and trying again and doing the things that I talk about all the time. That's what I would want you seeing.
14:47
Andrea Nordling
I wouldn't want you seeing perfection. That's not real for me. For you, for your clients. That's not real. I wouldn't want you. I wouldn't want. I mean, this would be great, but I wouldn't expect that. The only time that I would be proud of having you see behind the scenes of my business is if it was perfect, is if I have everything figured out and I'm not struggling at all. I really would be proud for you to see me catching myself when things feel misaligned like they do right now or have recently. And I would want you to see me recalibrating and getting back on track and using the tools that I teach and being a product of my product and being honest about where I'm at.
15:23
Andrea Nordling
And so that is where I feel like I have not done a great job internally lately, but also I haven't been talking about a lot of struggles. I think I've just been very laser focused on do, do as, you know, high achievers dilemma as we can be. And I'm assuming that you probably have that same tendency if you're a business owner and you're listening to this podcast we like to do. We're doers. We're so comfortable in that space where we're checking all the boxes and we're just taking on more and we're doing and we're doing and we have so much evidence in our lives of how we can just do it all and we can get it all done and we always do, and nothing falls through the cracks and we do, do ourselves to death, basically.
16:05
Andrea Nordling
And that's not being a product of our product. Mine in business, yours in health. It's not at all. And I haven't been talking about it and I haven't been intentionally not talking about it. But when I realize that I haven't been talking a lot about mindset and it hasn't been top of mind for me because I haven't been coaching myself as diligently as I normally do and I haven't been really reflecting on it. I've been in do mode. So that has come out as me doing a lot of podcast episodes on step by step and process and doing and let's do this. And I probably have unintentionally created the impression that everything is always working perfectly. And if you just do the things that it's always going to get you the results that you want. And that's not the truth.
16:47
Andrea Nordling
The truth is that it's always imperfect. We have to evaluate, we have to coach ourselves. Mindset is everything. I'm doing a ton of things over here that don't work. They don't work the first time, they don't work the second time, they get tweaked. Then maybe the third time, maybe the fourth time and I'm picking myself back up and I'm trying again and I'm coaching and we have to do these hard things and we have to be honest about it. And I'm not trying to not be honest about it. I just think I have gotten into a habit of glossing over that and going into step by step mode. So these are the things that we do. This is me a little bit in a as like a check in this episode.
17:27
Andrea Nordling
It's like, okay, have I Been giving the impression that it's all rainbows and daisies over here a hundred percent of the time. And I've cracked the code on all of the things and mindset is perfect and belief is a hundred percent. 10 out of 10, notes. AM I doing that? Because if so, that's not the case. It's not the case. New level, new devil, as they say. There's always things to work on. There's always things to make better, to improve, and to troubleshoot as a business owner and as a human in the world. So health wise, business wise, this all correlates. It all is connected. And I really want you to hear that and feel that today. But just to come clean, this episode is as much a check in for me as it is for you.
18:05
Andrea Nordling
Because if I don't intentionally remind myself to share the stuff that doesn't work, I probably won't do it and you probably won't either. So this is a little check in for me and a little accountability to me, but also reminder to you. So that is probably a good segue into another aspect of this, another layer of the onion as we pull it back. And I see this play out over and over again with my students that I coach in the profitable nutritionist. So when we aren't living as a product of our product, when we are out of integrity and not feeling like we're walking the walk on a small level or a big level. And again, this could be. It's highly variable.
18:43
Andrea Nordling
But if we don't feel like we are walking or talk and we feel inauthentic or we feel out of integrity in any way, people will feel it and they won't buy. We coach on this a lot in tpn. This is the intangible stuff. You're doing the right things, you are saying the right things, you're saying the words. But people don't feel conviction behind it. They don't feel your belief in it. They feel some sort of hesitation from you. And that's real. It's energetic, but it's also real. The best messaging in the world will fall completely flat if you're not living in what you're teaching. If you're not a product of your product. I think that there's just a mechanism in place, like a protection mechanism for consumers, for people.
19:23
Andrea Nordling
I don't know, it feels energetic that like if something isn't right, if there's a disconnect, people pick up on it and they pull back. They're like, I don't think so. Even if they can't name why? Because it does sound like the right solution and the timing is good for them. And they don't. They don't even know why. They just feel like, oh, I don't know, I feel like I need to lean back right now. They won't engage, they won't buy when that is happening. And I think that's why a lot of people struggle to sell confidently even when they have the right messaging, even when they have the right strategy. It's not the offer, it's not the pricing, it's not the wrong niche. It's not any of that. It.
19:58
Andrea Nordling
It's that you're not in alignment with what you're expecting of your climate clients for yourself. Okay? So if on some level you don't feel like you're living integrity with what you're teaching, that will come through in everything. That will come through in your messaging. We do talk about this a lot in the TPN program, and I know you've heard me talk about it on the podcast if you've been here for a while. But your belief is really everything. It really is your belief in yourself, your belief in your people, your belief in your offer and the process that you bring your clients through, and your belief in your business as a whole and the viability of your business long term. If you are not believing at a high level and super confident in those four things, it will come through.
20:37
Andrea Nordling
And if you aren't living as a product of your product, you're for sure not going to believing in the process that you bring your clients through. You're for sure not going to believing in your offer. You're definitely not going to believing in yourself. You probably are going to be doubting the capability of your clients, and you're probably not believing in the viability of your business long term. And all of that is like an energetic stink that people can smell. It's just. It's not good. Okay? It's not good when that's happening. On discovery calls, for example, you sound hesitant, like, oh, you don't say the thing that you need to say because you really actually don't want them to hire you because you don't know if you can really help them.
21:19
Andrea Nordling
You don't talk about your offer with confidence or the level that you want to. You doubt whether you can actually help people. Your brain comes up with a lot of reasons why this person probably isn't a good fit when in reality you definitely could help them. You second guess yourself Constantly. Just a lot of ways that this comes up when we feel like we're out of alignment with how we're showing up and how we're investing in ourselves. We'll get to that in a second. And how we expect our clients to invest in themselves. Now when this happens, when things aren't connecting, people often think that they need more sales training, they need more scripts, they need more practice. And we give all of those things in the profitable nutritionist program. We give you scripts, we tell you how to sell.
21:59
Andrea Nordling
On a consult call, you have an entire training on how to set up a high converting sales call. And some people absolutely crush it. We get people saying, oh, my gosh, the consults that convert workshop, like, that changed everything. I'm nailing every consult. I'm signing clients hand over fist. Holy cow, that's amazing. Other people are like, I just can't nail these consults. I just can't nail these consults. Always needing the mindset coaching. And really, usually it comes down to them feeling like, I don't think I can really help this client because I haven't helped myself yet. I'm not doing it perfectly. I'm still having health struggles. There's so much that I don't know that other people do know. How could I actually help more clients? Or how could I help this next client? Okay, so, yes, the strategy important. Yes.
22:46
Andrea Nordling
Having a solid strategy in place and. And knowing what the heck you're doing, very helpful. And also, it's not everything. It's if you are willing to say the thing and if you believe in what you're saying. Because there are also people who have no idea how to run a sales call. They have no structure for it, and they nail it and they kill it. And they don't even know what the heck they're saying. But they have such a belief and conviction behind it that it just works. And people are drawn to that. And they're like, I want some of this. Whatever this is, I want it. Because they are in total alignment with what they teach, what they expect of their clients. They're living it. They are an example of it. They are a product of their product. And people are magnetized to that.
23:23
Andrea Nordling
So that's where we need to be. And if we're not, we need to realize, oh, something is off here. A question to ask is, am I expecting people to hire me to help them to do something I'm not doing myself? Is that showing up? If the answer is yes, it's a problem. Okay, your funnel isn't the problem. Your niche isn't the problem. The people in your town is not the problem. The. The money that they don't have is not the problem. Your website's not the problem. No. It's that you are expecting people to pay you to do something you're not willing to do yourself. And that's not always just health stuff. Okay, so I'm going to ask another question, and I want you to be honest with yourself about this one.
23:58
Andrea Nordling
Are you expecting your people to pay money to improve their health, but you're not willing to do it for yourself? Actually pay money to improve your health? Answer this for yourself. Are you telling your potential clients that they should invest in professional help for their health struggles, but you're diying your own health struggles? Is that happening? This happens a lot. Are you telling your people or you're expecting your people to understand that they need a proven process and they need professional guidance, but you are hustling and grinding and trying to figure it out yourself and researching and listening to podcasts and free resources, and you're expecting yourself to figure it out all alone like those other people. They can invest in a solution with me, but I have to go figure it out on my own. Why is that?
24:46
Andrea Nordling
If that's coming up for you, why is that? Is there a glaring opportunity for you to invest in help with your health right now and you're not doing it? If so, why? I just have to ask the question. This came up on a coaching call with a client of mine in TPN recently. She was having a lot of lack of confidence. She came, she came on the call. She's like, I need some mindset coaching. I'm really struggling to. To sell. Like, I have people around me that want what I have. They need it. They're ideal clients. And I'm stopping at the 5 yard line instead of scoring the goal on helping them. And I'm pulling back and I can feel myself doing it. Like, I need some coaching on this.
25:26
Andrea Nordling
And what we quickly realized was that she has her own health stuff coming up and she feels like she needs to solve it before she can help more clients because she doesn't feel good about telling people that she can help them when she hasn't even helped herself yet fully. So we did peel back the perfectionism and the helping yourself fully, and we did that. But then I just asked her, why don't you hire someone to help you? She was like, what? Her face. She was like, what do you mean? And I'm like, well, why don't you go hire somebody to help with this? Chronic back pain is a problem. Like, why don't you hire somebody to help you with your chronic back pain? And she's like, I just know I can. I should be able to figure this out.
26:04
Andrea Nordling
I know I have enough tools and I know I have enough at my fingertips. I should be able to figure this out. I was like, yeah, but you could also just hire somebody that specializes in that can see your blind spots and probably solve it really quickly. Why aren't you doing that? She was, like, dumbfounded. She just. I could see. She just felt like she didn't realize that was an option. She just sees herself as the puzzle solver, the problem finder, or the solution finder for everyone, including herself. She was like, oh, my gosh. And I said, I actually have a recommendation for somebody that I think that you should hire, and I'm going to send it to you right now. And I emailed it to her. And the best part of this story is she did contact him.
26:43
Andrea Nordling
She did hire him, and within just a few weeks, her back pain was gone. She's like, this is absolutely incredible. And I was like, I love that you followed through and you actually took the coaching and you actually did it. Because that shift for her to actually hire someone to help her comes through in all of her marketing, comes through in all of her sales conversations. When she's a product of her product, meaning she hired somebody to help her when she needed help. She invested in working with someone herself that had expertise that she didn't have, that had tools that she didn't have. And everything shifted. Not just her health, though, her business, too. She also reported a lot of momentum in her business because suddenly she could talk about her offer with full integrity.
27:25
Andrea Nordling
She didn't feel like she wasn't walking the talk anymore. She didn't feel like she wasn't a product of her product. She felt better. But also she realized, oh, yeah, I don't actually have to have all of the answers all the time. I can just invest in somebody that does. Just like my people want to invest with me, because I do. So if that's coming up for you, hopefully something is unlocked for you to think about. Huh? Is there a disconnect here? Are you DIYing all of your health and it's not working and you feel really defeated about that, but you're expecting your people to hire you? What? No, that doesn't line up. That doesn't line up. All right, so another reflection question for you. I'm full of these today. And I really want you to sit with this.
28:08
Andrea Nordling
Would you be proud if your clients could see inside your life on a random Tuesday? Same question that I asked myself. But if your client saw what it looked like to be you in your life, in your business, in your health, in just how you are showing up for yourself, how proud would you be of that? On a scale of 1 to 10, give yourself answer. And I don't mean think about that one time when everything's going perfectly, when you just meal prepped for the first time in a month or you finally went for a walk for the first time in a week. Not that day, I mean like an average day, a Tuesday, just a normal Tuesday. How proud would you be of your clients or your future clients, your next clients?
28:48
Andrea Nordling
Seeing how you're showing up, how you're taking action, how you're getting back on track, when you've fallen off, how honest you're being about the struggles that you have, that would be a good one. How you are asking for help when you need it. That's kind of a loaded question. Could be in all areas of your life. How good are you at asking for help? Are you proud of your clients seeing how you do that? Are you? Are you? Or would you be proud of your clients seeing how you're addressing your stress levels, how you're living the health foundations that you teach them, how you're investing in yourself? That one's also loaded. That could be literally investing in yourself or figuratively investing in yourself.
29:28
Andrea Nordling
But rate yourself honestly on a 1 to 10, and then I want you to follow up with what would make it a 10? If it wasn't a 10, what would make it a 10? And then notice what your brain offers up. If it's some version of, well, to be a 10, everything would have to be perfect. Course, be onto that, Be onto it. But we have to ask good questions and we can get good answers when we ask the right questions. Okay, so how proud would you be of your clients or your future clients? Seeing inside your life right now on a random Tuesday, 1 to 10. And then what would make it a 10 if it wasn't a 10? My hope is that for it to be a 10, you're seeing that you just need to be proud of how you're showing up.
30:12
Andrea Nordling
Not the actual circumstances, not the actual results that you're getting. Not when those are perfect, but how you are showing up and addressing the reality of things not being perfect because they aren't on a day to day Week to week, month to month basis. It's not perfect. It's not. See, we have to be proud that we're evaluating and trying again, that we're still showing up, that we're tweaking, that we're doing things a little bit differently, that we're still giving 60% and not 0%. You know, we tend to get into this all or nothing thinking where it has to be 100 or it should just be 0. We know this. Your clients come to you thinking the same thing. And I'm sure that you teach them that It. It doesn't have to be that way. 60% is better than 0%, 80% better.
30:59
Andrea Nordling
That's okay, but it's not going to be 100. Are you doing the same for yourself? Are you proud that you're evaluating and you're trying again, that you're using the tools that you teach to your clients, that you're a product of your product and you're integrity with your values? That's it. It's about being proud that you're getting up after you fall off the horse or whatever comes up for you. I know that's what comes up for me. So if you're at like a six, like I was, nothing has gone wrong. Okay. You're not behind. We're not behind. We just have some recalibrating to do, and it's a really good awareness. So if you've come this far on this episode with me, I bet that some of this is landing for you and you might be thinking, yeah, okay, how do I do this?
31:39
Andrea Nordling
How do I recalibrate? And I'm not going to leave you hanging on that. I'm going to give you some ideas that work really well for me and I think will work really well for you. So two things to do. Be grateful, Lean into gratitude and lean into value. So first and foremost, have a gratitude rant. When I had this awareness and I rated myself a six, I was like, okay, and I need to have a gratitude rant. So I sat down and I made a whole list of things that were working in my life, in my business, in my health, things I'm grateful for in all areas. What's going well? What have I already figured out? What is, like, awesome here? What blessings are already right here in front of me? List them out in all areas. Okay? This is.
32:23
Andrea Nordling
This is not just business. It's not just health. This is everywhere. This is your life. It's all connected, holistic. Remember? So starting from that place of gratitude, instead of lack, shifts, everything. Do that to get your brain to a place where it wants to problem solve, where it wants to better, do better, think better. We have to first celebrate what is working, because there's a lot that is working. There's a lot that is going well. We start there. Do this with your clients, too. Okay? So after this gratitude rant and after compiling a lot of evidence for what is good and what is going well, I then asked myself, what can I do this week that would add the most value for my people? Where can I just pour on value, value? The question was not how can I impress them?
33:09
Andrea Nordling
The question is not what would make me look perfect? What would make me look good? What would make me look like an expert? What would make me look super professional? What would prove to the world that I have it all together? None of those things were the question that I asked, and I hope that you don't either. The question is, what would actually help them? And sometimes I think the most valuable thing that we can do is to be a product of our product and to talk about it like I am doing right now. So my answer to that question is, oh, I need to talk about this. I need to talk about how perfection is not actually the goal, and that's never going to be attainable. And it's not. I'm not perfect either.
33:51
Andrea Nordling
And what I do when I realize that things aren't going perfectly, because they never are, is I evaluate and I coach myself and I ask myself some hard questions and I make the time to do this tedious work instead of just going on to the next thing and checking the next to do list item on my to do list, which is long. So is yours. As a business owner, we always have more things to do. There's so much vying for our attention, and the to do list is never actually done. We could always do more. So we have to be really intentional about this mindset work and about looking at our beliefs and looking at how integrity we are with the values that we hold for our clients and for ourselves. Obviously, those should be the same thing and are we integrity with it?
34:33
Andrea Nordling
So for me, that was doing this podcast and making a mental note, and hopefully you can keep me accountable on this too, of talking more about what isn't working and what I'm working, like, how I'm fixing it. And I don't mean, by the way, I don't want this to come across in this episode as being fake, vulnerable and talking about, like, a pity party of all the things that aren't working. And you're like, that's not what we're talking about here. What I mean is talking about how circumstances can be not ideal and how you address it. That's what I hope that you get from my content and from listening to this podcast and the emails that we send. And if you're in the profitable nutritionist program, then you get a behind the scenes on a lot of this.
35:13
Andrea Nordling
So you get a lot more nuanced discussion about it on our weekly calls. But my goal is for you to see that it's all about the tweaking, the evaluating, the keep showing up, the troubleshooting, the not expecting perfection. Nothing has gone wrong when it isn't going perfectly. That's called being a human. That's called being in business. That's called having a human body and working towards better health in the future. Like, that's just the way that it is. But talk about it. And the more we talk about it and the more we are comfortable talking about how we aren't perfect and how we keep going anyway, and that how that compounds over time, the little things done consistently over time, how they compound, which is the truth. And I know that's what you teach your clients as well.
35:53
Andrea Nordling
When we talk about how we're still in it, we're still compounding, we're still doing that. It gives permission for our clients to see themselves in that type of transformation as well. And they're like, oh, I could do that. I could keep doing the little things over and over again instead of the all or nothing thinking, like, I have to change my entire life and the stars have to align perfectly and the timing has to be absolutely perfect for that to happen. No, that's not the case. So be a product of your product, be in transformation and talk about it. And maybe you don't have a podcast, that's fine. Okay. I'm not saying you have to jump on social media or you have to be like, make a big grand statement about it, like I'm doing here, but do it in person conversations.
36:34
Andrea Nordling
Do it with clients you're already working with. Do it with people in your life who are paying attention to what you do, and just get used to talking about being a product of your product and in the process of change, not only at the end result, Right? And when you do this and you talk about it is magnetizing. I mean, in the most unexpected ways, your business will benefit from you having conversations like this. Just trust me. Let the magic happen. Trust me, trust me. Okay, so to recap a little bit here, the perfectionism trap, it's bad. Avoid it. It's not good. It's where you're holding yourself to standards that you would not expect from your clients. And you're not giving yourself the same grace that you would give to them in your health in particular.
37:17
Andrea Nordling
And it's not doing your business any favors either, because your clients need to see you living in Breakthrough and figuring it out alongside them, and they need to see that. That you know how to do that. They need to see that it doesn't have to be perfect and it never will be. That's really important. Also acknowledging the energy behind this. And when we are not feeling like we're integrity with what we teach, we repel people, we repel clients. We can say, yes, I want more clients. Yes, I want to grow my business. But if we don't feel like that's all jiving inside of us and like we're actually doing it and we're a product of our product, the best messaging isn't going to save it. Okay. The best strategy isn't going to save it. The best funnel, none of that's going to work.
37:54
Andrea Nordling
And we'll continue to struggle to sell and to help the people because we don't really feel like we can or that we should. That's like a whole different conversation. But you see where I'm going there. And lastly, see where you're at with this by doing some reflections. Name. I mean, I gave you a bunch of them in this. In this episode. But the big one is, would you be proud if your clients saw inside your life and how you were living it on a Tuesday 1 to 10? Not in the most perfect scenario, but on an average week, how are you showing up? And what would make it a 10? How could you be more proud of them seeing you in transformation, in breakthrough, in figuring it out, in still showing up, not expecting it to just be perfect. All right.
38:35
Andrea Nordling
For the clients that I work with in TPN and for all health and wellness practitioners that I can think of, what is usually missing in their business recipe is the constant mindset focus. And I was very candid in this episode. That has been missing for me, too. I'm feeling it. I know that my business grows and is so much more enjoyable for me. I guess that's the way I want to say it. Like, it brings me more joy and it gets me more excited when I am constantly in growth myself, in my mindset. And when I'm really putting that at the forefront and I'm feeling better and I'm. I feel like I'm improving in that way because then I can bring that to my clients, I can teach it to them and I can help them have more breakthroughs.
39:16
Andrea Nordling
So when I realize, oh gosh, that has gone on the back burner for me, I don't like it. I don't like that result. Here I am coming back and telling you that's probably what's happening for you too. If you don't feel like you have that joy in your business, if you're feeling dread and you're feeling confused and you're feeling scattered and overwhelmed instead of purposeful and like you are giving a ton of value and you are in transformation yourself and your mindset is at the forefront of that whole experience. We gotta change it, okay? And I know I've already said this, but I will just leave you with an invitation to join the profitable nutritionist program. If this is landing for you, that is where you learn the tools for addressing your mindset and for helping your clients to do the same thing.
40:01
Andrea Nordling
Mindset is in fact the first thing that we work on when you join the program. It's in the very first lessons in module one, and then it is baked into the process and into every single lesson throughout the entire program. Every single thing that you do in your business, all of the step by step strategy that you get. I show you, okay? And then here's how this shows up with your clients and here's how you can address that with them. Here's how you talk about this with them. Here's what their human brain is going to come up with. It shows up for you here in your business and here's how it shows up for them in their health. Because it's all connected. Always, always. And I just really believe that you can't build a profitable, sustainable practice that you love.
40:38
Andrea Nordling
If your mindset isn't solid, can you have a profitable business? Sure. Many people do. But one that you love, that brings you joy that you are excited about, not one that wears you down, that is different, okay? Because you'll be in resistance and you'll be in lack and you'll be feeling scattered and you'll feel behind all the time. If you aren't getting good mindset coaching and if you don't have the tools to coach yourself and to be examining your mindset, I'm raising my hand over here. Ask me how I know this because I've been in it. I've been feeling it lately. For the last year and a half, I've been feeling it. Little did I know that's what I was feeling. But those feelings were coming up for me for the first time in a long time.
41:13
Andrea Nordling
And oh, as soon as I realized it, I was like, I know exactly why this is happening. So what did I do? I went out and I hired a mindset coach once again. And I'm so happy that I did. So when you are in the profitable, nutritious program, you will be a product of that product. The mindset, the evolution, the change in perspective, the just like the breakthrough. A breakthrough is the word that's coming up for me. Just the breakthrough feeling like, oh, I can get through to this next level. Oh, this next problem coming up. I know how to address that. Like I have the capacity to do it. I'm capable of doing it. I have the tools. And I'm not feeling like I'm so alone figuring it out myself. I actually have the tools here to do it.
41:53
Andrea Nordling
So that is what we do in TPN. We would love to have you join us. Theprofitablenutritionist.com join is the details page of the program. On that page you will get all of the components of the program for 12 months at least. I say it's a minimum investment of 12 months for $4,000. When you join the program, you are going to have 12 months access. But most of our members stay long past that and stay for years. So I want you to think about this one last thing that's coming up that I feel like I need to say before we land this plane is what I call the one nugget rule. And I did a podcast episode about this recently. It was a few episodes back.
42:31
Andrea Nordling
But this is something that I feel like comes up for a lot of people when they're considering investing in themselves. So I just want to leave you with this to noodle on a little bit. And again, when you go to theprofitablenutritionist.com join, you will see all the details of the program, what's included, how it works. There's even a button on that page to book a short call if you would like to do a sales call and figure out if it's the best next step for your business.
42:53
Andrea Nordling
All of that@theprofitablenutritionist.com join but when you are thinking through this decision and when you're reading through that page and when you are scrolling through the dozens and dozens of reviews and testimonials that we have on that page, you may find yourself a little bit in the perfectionism trap once again of thinking, how can I maximize this investment over the next year? And the reason that I know that this comes up is because people tell me this all the time. They will get on a sales call and they'll say, okay, I just, I don't think I can start until next month because I want to make sure that I maximize the investment and I want to make sure that I get my everything that I want out of it, get my money's worth for the year.
43:30
Andrea Nordling
And there's all these stories that come up around that. And I just want to offer that it is possible in any investment that we make. And it's also possible for your clients when they invest with you, that they get one thing that more than pays for the investment. Like they get one nugget with you or you get one nugget in the TPN program or in any program that you invest in that more than pays for the investment and then the rest is just profit. But maybe it's just one thing. And this really feels like it ties back to the through line of this episode of expecting perfection, expecting the perfect timing. Expect, expecting the stars to align so that it all makes sense on paper. And what if we just trust ourselves to always be in breakthrough?
44:13
Andrea Nordling
What if we trust ourselves to always be a product of our product and to be continually improving and attracting people to us that want that same improvement for themselves and they want that same permission for it not to have to be perfect and to know that they can still navigate an actual life while making progress toward their goals. And maybe it's just one thing that they're going to get from it that's going to more than pay for their investment. And it's just your job to show up and allow them to invest and to get that one nugget. So if that's landing for you once again, my invitation is to come and join the profitable nutritionist. We would love to welcome you in. It is a very robust program. There's a lot of resources.
44:52
Andrea Nordling
But the number one thing that we hear time and time again with over 700 people in the program now is that the mindset coaching that we do live every single week in the program is by far the most valuable part of the program. So if that is calling to you. Theprofitablenutritionist.com join get started today. Don't wait for it to be perfect. Just come on in. We got you and we're gonna get you into the process. Pride everything that we've talked about in this episode so far as soon as you join and I will adjourn this episode for now. Hopefully you got a lot to think about. That was the whole point.
45:29
Andrea Nordling
And hopefully you got some thoughts on your marketing, your messaging, and how you're showing up for your clients and pouring on some value for them, which we'll continue to talk more about in the upcoming episodes. So I will see you there. Goodbye.
