Andrea Nordling
My friend, welcome back to The Profitable Nutritionist Podcast. Here's what I know about you. If you are listening to this episode, if this title of this episode, busy but Invisible had you click in, here's what I know. You are busy. Like, genuinely busy. You are a doer. You are working on your business, if not every single day, then every single week. You are, I'm sure, taking courses and setting up systems and probably tweaking your website and creating content or a content calendar, maybe not even the actual content. We'll get to that. You are researching the right niche. You are debating the right niche. You are focusing on a niche. You are redoing your offer. You're thinking about your pricing. You are optimizing your client process. You are learning more. You're taking certifications. You're figuring out how to get your future clients better results.

 00:56

Andrea Nordling
All that to say, the to do list never gets shorter, does it? But I know something about you, my friend. You are not sitting around waiting and debating if you should do anything. You are doing the things. You are a doer, and yet not enough of the right people know what you do and are coming forth and hiring you. So somehow, with all of that effort and all of that doing, the clients are still not flowing in the way that you expected. And it's confusing, right? Because you're clearly not lazy. You are doing the things you are committed. So. So what is going on? Why? Why? Why? Why? Well, we're going to get into it, and I want to offer you something today that hopefully is going to make you a little uncomfortable in the best way as you listen to this episode. Okay.

 01:40

Andrea Nordling
It is an insight that I just cannot talk about enough. And I have said it before, I will say it again right now. It's gonna be very pertinent to everything we're about to talk about. The problem for most holistic business owners that I work with is not that they have the wrong strategy, okay? It's not that their niche is wrong. It is not that their pricing is wrong. It is not that their offer is wrong. Some of those things can be tweaked, absolutely, but it usually isn't a strategy problem. At the. At the root of it, the right email sequence, the right online course is not going to fix it. Big air quotes on fix it. A better website, not going to fix it. Another certification, not going to fix it. Because the thing that's actually getting the way is not strategy at all.

 02:24

Andrea Nordling
Okay? And so we're going to talk about that thing you might have an idea what I'm talking about. But by the end of this episode, you are definitely going to know what your version of this thing is. So here's what we're covering today. Resistance and fear. All right, Number one thing I want to talk about is what resistance actually looks like in your business and why it's so sneaky that most people don't even recognize it as resistance or a mindset issue. Okay? They think that they're overwhelmed. It's not overwhelm. It is absolutely not overwhelmed. We're going to re diagnose if you think that you're overwhelmed right now or that your to do list is too long or there's too much to do. We're going to completely change that today.

 03:02

Andrea Nordling
Second thing that we're going to talk about is what it cost me personally to let resistance, which for me was dressed up as fear of visibility, to quietly run my business for the first three years of my nutrition practice. And it cost me $100,000. Okay? I'm going to tell you all about that because this is a real thing. Okay. And it cost me three years and 100 day. We'll get there. We'll talk about numbers. And then the third thing I want to make sure that we cover, and I will cover, is how to make an actual plan for getting past whatever resistance looks like for you and whatever mindset blocks you have coming up right now, because they are truly different for everyone. But we have some common themes here. Okay?

 03:40

Andrea Nordling
And the difference between how these show up and what is actually stopping you from having enough clients coming to you and banging down your door every single month is important for us to nail down. So we're going to do that, starting with, like I said, the first thing I want to talk about, which is what resistance actually looks like and why we often don't recognize it. Okay? So I want to talk about a story that is fresh in my mind because I recently coached a client on this. That's what the story is. And this student is in the profitable nutritionist program. She came to a one one call recently and she was like, I feel so overwhelmed and it's making me unmotivated. I've been really motivated in my business and right now I do not feel motivated.

 04:20

Andrea Nordling
It's hard for me to do anything in my business because it's so overwhelming and I'm not getting the results. And she's like, I know what to do. We have a process in tpn. I know what the process is. The to do list is clear. But I'm just not doing it anymore. I have no motivation to do it. She was just frozen. So we dug into that together, and what we uncovered is that it was not overwhelm. You know, drum roll. No, it's not overwhelm. It's not. It was fear of visibility for her and confusion about who she was talking to. Now, these are two very solvable problems, right? But she hadn't solved them herself because she hadn't named them correctly yet.

 04:58

Andrea Nordling
And it took a little bit of sleuthing and a little bit of pulling back some of the layers of the onion to figure out what was really going on. Because she came to this coaching call wanting some help with her website and her messaging and dialing in on what she should really be doing to have clients coming to her website and booking calls with her on her website, which is such a logical strategy. Okay, it is. I understand this, and I teach this. We will definitely get to the point where someone's coming to your website, they're reading the copy on the website. It is messaging that is completely resonant to them. To those easiest clients, they book a call with you and the process works, right? It does. But when it isn't happening, it might not be a messaging issue yet.

 05:43

Andrea Nordling
It might be something other than overwhelm. It might not be that there's not enough hours in the day. It might actually be this very solvable problem, which for her was a fear of visibility. And her brain was dressing it up as confusion and overwhelm, but really, it was fear of being seen. It was fear of putting herself out there. It was fear of people in her life knowing that she was open for business. She was actively growing this business. She wanted clients, and she was actually doing it. That was super scary for her. So her brain, which is just the best disguise master. I don't even know how I want to say this, but master of disguise, our brains does this is it dresses up what's really going on in a way that feels really compelling to us. So it's like we're too overwhelmed.

 06:29

Andrea Nordling
We're too busy. We're confused. This isn't professional enough yet. We're not ready yet. We don't have this next certification that we actually need other people are so much or so much, well, so better positioned to help our people. Like, we can't compete with that imposter syndrome. It comes up in all of these different little compelling stories, for lack of a better way of saying it, that our brain will bring to the forefront and go, yep, this is what's going on. And really it's a fear of getting seen or being visible or putting ourself out there or risking rejection or fear of failure or fear of judgment. All of these things, right?

 07:08

Andrea Nordling
So people come to coaching calls with me or come into my program or listen to this podcast, which might be you, to get the strategies that are going to be the winning strategy, to not have to feel that discomfort, to not have to put themself out there, to not have to be visible, to not have to risk rejection or failure or saying the wrong thing or having a client hire them and then not get results. There's so many things that come up here. And I'm just going to offer what I offered to this client of mine on the coaching call and where we ultimately got to, which was that there. There aren't strategies that are going to do that. There really aren't.

 07:43

Andrea Nordling
We'll come up against the fear and the resistance in a different way at a different time, depending on what strategy we get. But ultimately, we just have to be willing to be uncomfortable. We have to be willing to have people be wrong about us and to think that we don't know what we're doing or that we're imposters or, you know, fill in the blank here of what the big fear is. We have to be willing to let people think those things and for us to feel those feels and just do it anyway. And then when we're not afraid of it, we're not resisting the discomfort, we can just do the thing and realize actually it's not that uncomfortable anyway, which is really where we get to. So this client of mine had two very solvable problems. Okay?

 08:23

Andrea Nordling
She had a fear of visibility and confusion about who she was talking to. And when we named the visibility, and we just got to the point where were willing to be uncomfortable with the fact that other humans were going to see that she had a business and hear her talking about it, and they might like it or they might not. Who cares? Then she was willing to kind of move past that into a different conversation about eliminating the confusion on who she was talking to and really dialing in the messaging and ultimately what she had wanted to do in the first place, which was figure out why her website wasn't converting to clients. Was it because the messaging was wrong? I would say not. I would say it's because she didn't actually want to be seen.

 09:00

Andrea Nordling
She wasn't talking about what she was doing, and people weren't seeing the website in the first place. Okay? So you might be confused if you hear me on this podcast talking about how I don't think that if you have. If you're not working with clients right now, and if you don't have people reaching out to you to work with you don't actually need to be worried about your website. And it is really counterintuitive because people think, well, what the heck? I want the website all done and polished and professional and perfect so people reach out to me. But it's backwards, okay?

 09:32

Andrea Nordling
It's actually a better use of your time to just roll up your sleeves and get them dirty, get those hands dirty of yours to get out and have conversations with real humans in the world in all of the places to figure out what you actually are going to put on the website. And then we can reverse engineer that later. But usually people just end up being super confused and spending a ton of time and a ton of effort on a website thinking, this is how I'm going to get clients. And really they're having resistance to being seen and to talking to the real people in their life that actually should know that they have a business and they're just putting it off. Which brings me to the story that I told you I was going to tell you.

 10:12

Andrea Nordling
This is exactly what I did in the beginning of my holistic nutrition business, which started in 2015, but really got off the ground in 2016 after I had graduated from the Nutritional Therapy Association. I was enamored. I don't even have a better way to say it other than to say I was enamored with this new world of online marketing that I had found myself in. And it was the first time I really was introduced to things like funnels and email sequences and podcasts and webinars and courses and all of the things, funnels, websites, just all of it was brand new to me. I had built a very successful real estate company all off of referrals and word of mouth and never even had a website, which is so crazy for me to even think about now how successful it was because we.

 11:06

Andrea Nordling
We just didn't have any of that tech infrastructure working. We weren't leveraging any of that. It was all from a cell phone, an email address, and word of mouth. It was very successful, by the way. So let's put a pin in that. Just remember that businesses have been doing business for a very, or all of the tech bells and whistles that we have today, okay? So remember that. It's easy for me to look back 10 years ago. And look at me then, that was a new online business, baby. And say, oh yeah, let's just remember that, you know, businesses worked without all of the technology in the past. But at that time I couldn't see that either. And I was like, oh my gosh, the possibilities here.

 11:47

Andrea Nordling
Let's do the course funnels, let's have blog posts, let's pin them on Pinterest and then have elaborate email sequences that click to different automations to sell people 100 different things based on what they click on in the emails. And let's run ads and let's have a podcast and let's do all the things I did, all of it. And the reason I did it, if I'm going to be completely honest, is because I didn't want to be visible to people in my actual life as much as I could have been or should have been. Which is why it took me three years to finally make six figures in my holistic nutrition practice.

 12:23

Andrea Nordling
I was trying to get the strangers on the Internet to hire me and pay me to validate my business and to make me feel like it was real before I talked to the real people in my life that needed my help or could refer me to people that needed my help. Now, did I do a little bit of that? Yes, of course I did. I'm not giving myself total credit here, but I can honestly say as I reflect on it, I was really excited about the online business strategies that I was now familiar with or I knew existed because it, in my opinion, or in my opinion, I guess, in my misguided strategy of 10 years ago, I thought, this is it.

 13:01

Andrea Nordling
I can build an entire business with strangers on the Internet hiring me and I never actually have to be that visible to people in my real life. And the reason I didn't want to do that is because I had a real estate business before. People knew me already as a real estate broker. I also had several endeavors into network marketing. And so people knew me as someone who at least my fear was. And maybe this was true to a certain extent, I have no idea. But my insecurity was that people would think I was a flake and they would think that I always had a different flavor of the month business and that I was constantly changing things. And maybe I was and maybe I wasn't, I don't know.

 13:40

Andrea Nordling
But clearly I was insecure about it because it kept me from wanting to tell people in my life that I was a nutritional therapy practition and I was taking clients instead. I wanted to have the perfect website with the perfect funnels, with the perfect podcast, getting the strangers on the Internet to hire me instead. And it was a fear of visibility, if I'm going to be honest. So that fear and that resistance, which I didn't have a name for, and I didn't have anybody coaching me on mindset, and I didn't know any of the tools that I know now, that kept me really stuck for the first three years of my business, when I honestly could have been easily making six figures a year, and I wasn't, I was making it so hard and I was working all the stinking time.

 14:24

Andrea Nordling
So when I called out at the beginning of this episode, hey, I see you're a doer. You're busy, you're doing the things you're not afraid of, hard work. I can say that because that was me. That is still me. I get it. But I also know that it is so much more effective to be working on the right things. And for a lot of us high achievers, high action takers, doer types that just do, do, we really need to slow down for a second usually and look at am I trying to outwork some resistance that I'm having somewhere, some fear that I have to failure to visibility, to rejection, to judgment, to, you know, fill in the blank, whatever that is. Am I trying to outrun that and outwork that?

 15:04

Andrea Nordling
And could I actually get a better return on my time investment by just dealing with some of this resistance? My. My suggestion, friend, is that is usually the case. And so that's what I'm offering for you in this episode. But also, this is what I offer in the profitable nutritionist program. It's exactly what we do in the repeatable revenue process that you learn in the program and that you apply over the course of at least 12 months in the program together. So I'm going to pause here for a second and make sure that you know that everything I just described, fear of visibility, misdiagnosed, overwhelm the three years that it took me, making it way harder than it needed to be. I see versions of this every single day in the practitioners that I work with.

 15:48

Andrea Nordling
And I see them come out on the other side of it with a way simpler business model, with way more profitability and helping way more people. Everybody's version is a little bit different of this, of how they get to that. But we have a process for diagnosing where your resistance is and overcoming it. This is not a generic strategy, by the way. It's super Personalized. Again, I'm talking about the repeatable revenue process that you get access to inside the program. So if you are thinking right now, I need this and if you're still listening, my guess is that you do.

 16:20

Andrea Nordling
I want you to book a call with me so we can go into it together and we can really dial in on what your resistance is, what mindset blocks might be keeping you stuck and or if there are any specific strategies that could easily be tweaked to really have you making leaps and bounds progress versus where you've been so far. So to book that call, go to theprofitablenutritionist.com book and grab a time so we can chat. Okay. We're gonna figure it out together. And I will be very honest with you on if I think what we do in the TPN program and following the repeatable revenue process would help you. Or if not, I'll give you a suggestion on maybe someone else that could help you better be very honest about that.

 16:57

Andrea Nordling
Again, that's@theprofitablenutritionist.com book okay, so let's circle back to how we make an actual plan for overcoming resistance to anything. Now, I'm usually coaching people on visibility and fear of failure and another fear which is not making their arbitrary timelines. So there's a couple different ways that this shows up. I'm going to give you some suggestions and some ideas for. Well, get it. The shortcut. I could say the shortcut, but maybe it's the long cut. Depending on how much your brain fights you on this, it could be open to interpretation. Might be a long cut. I think this could be a shortcut though. So here's the truth. There is no universal fix to any of this. Okay. Which is good news. It means you don't need to do all of the things.

 17:45

Andrea Nordling
It means that you need to trust yourself to have some discernment that whatever I'm about to say that really lands for you, grab that one and run with it. Okay. You don't need to go into mindset coaching overwhelm and think that you need to fix every aspect of yourself before you can start making money and helping more people. Not the case. That's not even a thing, by the way. But something is going to stick out to you here. I have all the confidence in the world, so just grab onto that. Go. Yep, this is my thing. This is why I was supposed to hear this episode right now. And let's work on it. First of all, fear of visibility. Okay?

 18:18

Andrea Nordling
The plan, if you have a fear of visibility right now, if everything I've been talking about and the example I gave with my clients and the example I gave with myself, that is landing for you. And you're going, oh, yep, I feel it. I feel how I'm doing this. The plan isn't actually to get comfortable with being visible before you get started or before you move to the next stage or before you do that next thing that you've been putting off doing. That's not how this works. Okay. You can't think your way into be. Into being comfortable being visible. You can't go from, like, I have this visceral desire to hide into. It's fine, it's fine. I'll just go and I'll do all the things, and it's great. The pendulum just usually doesn't swing that big. Okay. And it doesn't have to.

 19:04

Andrea Nordling
So instead, we want to get to a neutral ground in the middle. We want to just feel neutral. Okay. We want to feel a little bit comfortable with being uncomfortable. We go, okay, I'm going to be visible here. I'm going to be a little bit vulnerable. I'm going to put myself out there. I'm going to do the thing that I've been avoiding doing. And I don't have to be okay with it. I don't have to love the feeling. I don't have to feel super comfortable in this discomfort. It's. It's discomfort. Okay? It's supposed to feel like that. And that's okay, because the more I do this, the less discomfort I feel, the more I can just get used to it. And pretty soon, this will be a habit. It'll be old hat. It'll just be easy.

 19:43

Andrea Nordling
Think of how many things in your life started off as being really hard and scary and you had a lot of resistance to it. And then you just develop a habit around it, and it becomes something that just is the way that it is. I usually will bring in an example here of riding a bike, so you may have heard me talk about this before. If not, hopefully this is going to be a good little. I don't know. Is this a metaphor? Is this a. Is this analogy? I never know the difference. Whatever this is, hopefully it lands for you. You can learn how to ride a bike one way, in my opinion. Okay? You can't watch YouTube videos about riding a bike and know how to ride a bike. You. I mean, you could. You could read books about riding a bike.

 20:28

Andrea Nordling
You could watch YouTube videos. You could listen to Podcasts about riding a bike. You could talk to other people who ride bikes about their opinions and their experiences, and they could give you tips and tricks on riding a bike. And you can get all of the knowledge, but you will not know how to actually ride the bike until you get in the seat and you start pedaling. And it's very wobbly, and it's hard to get your balance, and you feel so uncomfortable with the fact that it looks easy when other people do it. And when you're doing it at the beginning, it feels so hard, and it's. The balance is not there, and it's just wobbly, right? It just is. And then you keep pedaling, and you figure it out, right?

 21:06

Andrea Nordling
And you just do it, and then it just becomes a thing that you know how to do. It becomes a skill that you have, but you can't learn your way into it. You can't just knowledge, knowledge in the background and suddenly arrive at a place where you know how to do it. You gotta be willing to for it to be wobbly, right? You just have to. Same thing for your clients. It's just the way that it is. So fear of visibility is really keeping you stuck. Know that the plan isn't to feel good and, like, you want to be visible. It's really not. You're probably not gonna get to that point. What the plan is to get comfortable with being uncomfortable in the visibility space. That's just the way it's gonna be. Okay, I can do this. I can do hard things.

 21:42

Andrea Nordling
Second way that resistance comes up for a lot of us is fear of failure. Oh, my gosh. What if I do all of this and it still doesn't work? What if I am visible? What if I tell everybody in my life what I'm up to and what my goals and my dreams are, and it doesn't work, and they all know that I failed. Then what? And when somebody comes to a coaching call and asks me this question, I say, okay, what if. Don't ever not answer hypothetical questions that your brain offers to you. Never. Not answering all the double negatives here. Okay, so if your brain is like, what would we do? Like, what if it doesn't work? What? What if? Answer that. Play it all the way out. Write it out. I think that this is so.

 22:26

Andrea Nordling
It's, like, such a great opportunity to actually write out or type out a plan. Okay, what if I do all of this and it doesn't work? First of all, like, how long will you keep going before you knew that it didn't work. It's really kind of hard for your brain to narrow in on a timeline when you ask these good questions and all of a sudden you go, oh, my gosh, I don't know. Like, what if it. What if just one more day and everything clicked? What if. Oh, my gosh, what if the only way this doesn't work is if I quit trying? Because that's really what the deal is here.

 22:55

Andrea Nordling
But ask yourself the question, what would you do if you put in all the effort and all the time and it didn't work, or it didn't work on the timeline that you thought it was going to, this arbitrary timeline that you set for yourself, what would you do? My guess is you'd evaluate, you would adjust, you'd try something slightly different. You'd get coaching, you get another job. You'd, you know, you do something, you have way more resilience and way more options than your brain is giving you credit for. We all do. But we have to ask the right questions. What would I do if this doesn't work? If I. If I put in all the work and it doesn't work? What would I do? Answer the question.

 23:30

Andrea Nordling
Also worth noting, because this came up in the recent conversation that I had with this client, which kind of sparked this episode. She was saying, gosh, I am just imagining the worst case clients. Like, they're so hard, I can't get them results, they're unhappy, they want refunds, they're super complex. I can't handle them. And really, that wasn't an issue. That was coming up. She didn't have any clients coming in, so much less really hard ones. I said, this is so fascinating, right? Those imaginary clients that your brain has invented is a way for you to not take action. It's a way.

 24:04

Andrea Nordling
It's that really smart way that your subconscious mind knows is going to keep you in the familiar and keep you from taking massive action, putting yourself out there, getting uncomfortable, risking rejection, risking judgment, risking the fear that people will see you fail. All of those things that feel so scary. And our brain is like, oh, my gosh, we can't do that. It's just. It makes us so vulnerable. It's so scary. But is it? And is it even real? Do we even need to worry about these hardest imaginary clients that your brain has invented that hasn't even. Haven't even showed up yet? Right? The ones who don't do their protocols, the ones that blame you for it, the ones that give you bad reviews, they're not even real for most of us. And what if you could handle it if it did happen?

 24:50

Andrea Nordling
So this is again where I would say, play it out. If your brain is offering you really scary scenarios and what ifs and hypotheticals, play it out. What if this happens? What if that happens? What would I do? How would I solve for that? And when you do this and you actually take some time to answer these questions which are just looping in your subconscious mind, avoiding them and ignoring them doesn't help because your brain is still thinking these thoughts. But when you actually address it and answer them, you usually get some really good intel here. And you realize that you are resourceful, you are resilient, you're not actually confused here. You're not without any support, you're not without resources at all. You actually have everything that you need to plug into if this future state comes forth.

 25:33

Andrea Nordling
And for most of us, it's like this worst case, catastrophic state. For some people it's, what if I am successful? And this is another thing. I coach on a lot in the TPM program. What if this actually works and I get a lot of clients and it overtakes my life and I don't have time for anything else and my family has to make sacrifices because I'm not available? And like, what if, what if? Well, let's answer that question. What if. What if you're more successful than you even think possible? Then what? How are you actually in control of that? How is there actually a faucet there that you can turn on and turn off? And you're not just a passive participant here. You're actually in control. How is that true?

 26:15

Andrea Nordling
These are the questions we need to answer to get you to a place of neutral. Remember, we're not trying to think, oh, my gosh, it's amazing. It's so easy. I have no imposter syndrome. I have no fear of visibility, I have no fear of rejection. I have none of that. It's all gone. That's not really realistic. Probably not going to happen. But what is realistic is getting to a neutral place where you realize, I can handle it if this scary thing happens. Insert scary thing here. I can handle it. Here's what I would do. Okay? This is what we're doing. We're calming down your brain. Now, another thing that comes up for a lot of my clients, and just a lot of people that I work with might be coming up for you too, is a fear of letting clients down.

 26:54

Andrea Nordling
This is where the imposter syndrome really comes forth. And it's where people think, I don't know enough. I can't help all of the people. People could be too complex, they could be too advanced, they could be too something, it could be too hard, they could be too mean, they could be too anything. And I just am not gonna be able to handle it, whatever that is. And what I will say, what I will remind you of, is that you know more than you think you do. Okay. You also know what you don't know, which means you know your stuff. And you know when someone's outside your scope of practice and you need to refer them out to someone else, or you have resources for experts that you could reach out to get answers when you need to.

 27:34

Andrea Nordling
So really, you have a lot of tools in your tool belt and ways to make sure that you can support clients and that you're not going to let them down. Hyping we I get the best testimonials from stage one of the TPN process, the repeatable revenue process I've already mentioned in this episode. But in stage one, we make foundational decisions about your offer, your pricing, specifically your client delivery process, and how we make sure that you have an ironclad process that you bring your clients through so that they get results and so your brain can calm down about this. But also they get way better results. They talk about it, they send you more referrals, and there's a process for making this process. Right. But I get the hugest testimonials and people being so grateful.

 28:21

Andrea Nordling
We get emails about this all the time with new students that come into the program and start working through this process, who tell us over and over again, oh my gosh, I was so afraid that I couldn't actually get my clients results. And now I see that I have a process that's going to ensure that they get results. I'm not worried about this anymore. And I can see how much this is weighing on me. I'm paraphrasing, but that is actually an email that we got just a couple days ago. So it's fresh in my mind. We get this a lot. It's like, oh my gosh, I have been so worried that I actually didn't know enough or that I actually couldn't help people because I didn't have it laid out in a process with milestones to ensure that they're getting results.

 28:57

Andrea Nordling
And we have an open feedback loop at all times. But when you have that, then your brain can settle down. You realize, oh my gosh, if they aren't getting results, I Have a mechanism for that, for. For knowing if that's happening and for course correcting and for referring if I have to, or for reaching out to other resources that I have to make sure that they get results. I have this handled already, then we can really get out of our own way. But that doesn't happen overnight. And you have to really be able to name the fact that you're worried about it in the first place and that you're having a resistance to doing the massive actions to get clients.

 29:29

Andrea Nordling
Putting yourself out there, really talking about what you do, putting yourself into situations where you are going to be amidst other practitioners that can refer you, for example, or doing talks in your community or online, or getting on podcasts or like anything. I'm just coming up with examples of things that people usually do in the beginning of their business that get them a lot of traction. And they're also things that people resist doing a lot. And instead they're working on their website and they're working on their welcome sequence and they're working on their practice better and they're working on getting another certification instead of doing the things that are actually going to bring in the clients because of that fear of letting clients down, imposter syndrome, fear of visibility, all of the things we've already talked about.

 30:15

Andrea Nordling
Okay, so another one that we have to talk about is around charging and profitability and money, money. I am so fascinated about the topic of money and charging, especially as business owners, because it so quickly brings up our greatest fears. I think that there are a lot of aspects of being a business owner and about putting out your shingle and saying to the world, I have a business, I'm doing this thing. I'm like free falling here, but I'm doing it, I'm going for it. That will bring up your biggest insecurities right into your face right there, front and center. Immediately. Something about it going for a big goal and letting the world know about it is going to bring up those insecurities.

 30:56

Andrea Nordling
And not least of all, some of those insecurities are around being greedy, around charging, around money thoughts, money beliefs about rich people, beliefs about poor people. Like all of the money thoughts come up for business owners. So I see a lot of fear that people have around charging what they actually need to charge for their clients, and a lot of resistance around having money conversations. People will say things to me like, oh my gosh, I just can't ask my friends for money. I'm like, wait a second, we're asking our friends for Money. This is a donation. I don't think so. We gotta reframe that. We gotta really work on what's going on here, which is you are providing a life transforming service that people are looking for.

 31:42

Andrea Nordling
They're already searching for it and they're already buying it, but they get to buy it from you and you get to change your life, which is amazing. But this comes up in lots of different ways. I don't want to go down the rabbit hole of that. So specifically, just know that if you have a fear around charging what you're worth or charging what you know you need to be charging, we have to dig into that. And that's. There's. It's not a strategy issue, it's not a offer issue. You can't go make an online course for cheap that you sell passively on your website. That's going to fix this problem. It's not. It. Okay? The issue is the mindset, the resistance and the fear around having money conversations and what people will think about your money decisions and what you're charging. Okay?

 32:24

Andrea Nordling
So something that might be useful for you. If this is the one where you're like, oh yeah, she told me something was going to be striking a chord here. Here's the one. Here it is. If this is the one for you, I want you to remember that you are not your ideal client, okay? Say this out loud if you need to. I am not my ideal client. The person that would hire you and will hire you and wants to hire you and is looking for someone just like you to hire right now, but they don't even know what you're doing, so they can't hire you. But that person, then we're going to fix that and they will be hiring you.

 32:54

Andrea Nordling
That is not the same kind of person that is going to spend money and years of their life on certifications to figure out the education and the information that you have. That is not the same person. So they might have some similarities to you. There might be some parallels with your life and their life. I have no idea. But know that person who is going to pay you to make a statement, simple, doable process for them and to support them to actually implement and do the process. That person is not the person who is going to go DIY it and figure it out themselves and spent years and thousands and thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours to get the education and expertise that you have. Not the same person, okay?

 33:37

Andrea Nordling
That person that is hiring you, they want to pay you money so you can save them time so you can alleviate their pain, so that you can help them get there faster and simpler and more conveniently. And so they can feel assured that they're actually going to get the results that they're after. And you have the solution and you have the process to do that. That is why they want to pay you. So you have to stop thinking. And I know that this comes up for a lot of people that they could just go get the information themselves. This person that wants to pay you right now, today, they don't want to go get the information themselves. They want you to bring them the right information in the simplest form so they actually implement it and do it. All right?

 34:17

Andrea Nordling
So stop making pricing decisions based on what you would do. Because you're not your ideal client. You're not. You have the expertise. You're the diy or you are the one that is fascinated with the science and the education that you have. That's not your ideal client. Okay, I'm not trying to say that they don't value it or that they're not smart. That's not what I'm saying here. I'm saying that they want you to make it simpler for them to get the solution and to get the results that they really want. And they value that so much more than the money that they are exchanging to you for that. Make sense? Okay, so moving on from that, moving on from any conversations about discounting and working for free and all of that, because I have 1 billion podcasts about that already.

 34:57

Andrea Nordling
We're going to go to my final point here, which is the plan for all of these different nuances of resistance and mindset and how it comes up is the same. We have to name what's going on. Okay, so that's step one. Awareness is step one. What is actually standing in your way right now from bringing in enough clients? You clicked on this episode because you're not bringing in enough clients and you're working hard. Okay, this, the title of the episode was very intentional for that reason. So you clicked on it. You're listening. Be honest with yourself. Why aren't enough clients coming in? What is the resistance? What's the actual fear? Don't call it overwhelm if it's not overwhelm. Don't call it confusion if it's confusion really dressed up as something else.

 35:42

Andrea Nordling
Don't think you don't have the right magical social media strategy that everybody else has. If really you're having a fear of charging, you're having a fear of letting clients down and Imposter syndrome. We have to be really honest about what's going on and what the block is, what the resistance is. So get honest with yourself first and foremost about what is actually happening in your brain and what is the resistance? Because once you name it correctly, you can actually address the problem. These are solvable problems, but we have to know what they are. Okay, make sure you know what yours is. That's exactly what this call is for, by the way. So when I'm telling you that we should get on a strategy call together, which is a sales call for the TPN program, that is exactly what I'm talking about.

 36:21

Andrea Nordling
We can dissect this together, your exact situation, and I'm going to ask you some very pointed questions so that we can quickly realize for you. What is your path forward? Is it a strategy problem? Or are you having resistance and need some mindset work, which most people do? So the three things that we talked about today, One, resistance is a master of disguise. It shows up as a lot of things. Being totally overwhelmed, being a perfectionist, being super busy. Oh, my gosh, the to do list is long and you are checking the boxes. You are busy, busy, or you're not feeling ready yet. You have 10 things you still need to do before you feel ready. Getting ready to get ready. These are all things that show up. But underneath all of it are a few root fears. Okay?

 37:05

Andrea Nordling
And you can't solve the strategy problem, and you can't outwork it with more busyness and more strategies and more things and doing more and more until you actually call it what it is, which is a resistance and some fear. Okay? That's just really what's happening here. Second thing is that fear doesn't announce itself. It just quietly steers you towards the harder, safer options that take a lot of time, that keep you busy, that keep you feeling productive, but not actually producing what you want, which is more clients, more money, more impact. That's what you really want. That's why you're listening to this podcast. That's why you have your business. But our brain is so compelling in the stories that it tells us to keep us from doing those things. I know this firsthand.

 37:48

Andrea Nordling
It cost me three years of six figure earnings, at least in my nutrition practice. Three years where I was making it so much harder than it needed to because I didn't want to be seen by the people who already knew me if at all possible. And I don't want that for you. Okay? I know that's how it was coming up for me. And I think I had to learn that lesson so that 10 years later, I could be recording this podcast for you and saying, there's a much better way, which is actually getting the coaching tools and getting the coaching to overcome your own brain and do the things anyway, and getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. Because the bottom line is, and I told this to my client that I referenced earlier in the episode, you can be invisible. It's totally an option.

 38:29

Andrea Nordling
Because she kept saying that. She kept saying, I, I know I need to be more visible, but I'm just invisible right now. And she was not wanting to be uncomfortable with the visibility, but we had to name the fact that it was also really uncomfortable for her to be invisible. Obviously, it wasn't comfortable there either. She wasn't making the impact she wanted to make. She wasn't making the income for her family she wanted to make. She wasn't helping the clients she really wanted to help. That was also very uncomfortable. So when you realize that, yes, it is uncomfortable to be visible, yes, it is uncomfortable to do this work, to get out there and do what you really want to do, it is. I'm not going to lie to you.

 39:07

Andrea Nordling
I'm not going to say that there's a way that you're never going to feel uncomfortable. You're gonna be having sweaty armpits and just going, oh, my gosh, what am I doing? That is uncomfortable. And it is what is required. But it's also uncomfortable not to. It's also so uncomfortable to not live into this vision of your business that you have to help the people you want to have. And staying invisible is equally uncomfortable. It really is. Okay, so with that, once again, I will remind you that I would love to talk to you very specifically about your situation. If you're not in the TP program yet, let's book a call. Okay. Go to the profitablenutritionist.com book. I will bring you through A to Z, exactly what we do and how we address all of this with the repeatable revenue process.

 39:55

Andrea Nordling
We'll find out exactly where you are right now, what might be keeping you stuck, and what is your easiest path forward. And then if I can help you in the TPN program, I will let you know exactly what that looks like. And if not, I'll be super honest with you as well and give you some homework items and another path forward if I see that it would better. Okay, so go to theprofitablenutritionist.com book and, my friend, I will see you in the next episode.
