This teaching centers on Jeremiah 23:14–17, where God condemns the prophets of Jerusalem for adultery, deception, and strengthening evildoers, declaring that they have become like Sodom and Gomorrah; this echoes Isaiah 1:10, where Jerusalem is likewise addressed as Sodom and Gomorrah, and aligns with Revelation 11:8, which symbolically describes Jerusalem as Sodom and Egypt. The message also reaches back to Genesis 18 to recall the original judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah, warning that such sins among God’s people are especially grievous. False prophecy is exposed as arising not from God but from human imagination, a contrast sharpened by Hebrews 4:12, which teaches that the Word of God discerns between soul and spirit.
