When Lori Ann Wood found her life drastically altered by a medical crisis, she learned it was a divine detour leading her to answer three urgent questions we all wrestle with. Wood's new book, Divine Detour, will release in February 2023.

Guest Bio:
Lori Ann Wood lives in the shadow of the Ozark Mountains in beautiful Bentonville, Arkansas, with her husband, the unsuspecting guy she chased all the way from 9th grade to grad school. She is mom to three world-changing young adults, one impressive son-in-law (who all live too far away) and a miniature dachshund named Pearl (who threatens to never leave). Her new favorite role is appropriately spoiling her granddaughter Hazel.
In addition to receiving the Frederick Buechner Narrative Essay Award from The Christian Century Magazine, her work has won awards from The Colorado Christian Writers Association and The Evangelical Press Association. Lori Ann has been published in numerous print journals including Just Between Us Magazine, The Joyful Life Magazine, Bella Grace Magazine, Heart Insight Magazine, and Sweet to the Soul FAITH Magazine. Her articles have also appeared on websites such as Pepperdine University Press, Yahoo Lifestyle, and MSN, and on blogs including Women | Faith & Story, Kindred Mom, WomenHeart, and The Mighty. Lori Ann also serves on the Blog Contributor Team for The Joyful Life Magazine.
But Lori Ann has not always been a writer.
A life detour reordered her priorities and rattled her faith.
In 2015, despite otherwise pristine health, Lori Ann almost died from heart failure from an unknown cause. Her heart was functioning at just 6%. She spent 14 days in ICU as doctors tried to save her life. Lori Ann was then transferred to the Cleveland Clinic where she became her doctor’s most critical patient for a year and a half. She was eventually implanted with a pacemaker and internal defibrillator. Against all medical odds, her heart function was initially restored sixteen months later. But as heart failure goes, her condition has experienced ups-and-downs since then. And as the Christian walk goes, so has her faith.
Having discovered this chronic, progressive condition almost too late, Lori Ann now writes to encourage difficult faith questions along the detours of life. Her passion is to connect with readers and help them hold onto their faith when they find themselves on a path they didn’t choose.
Her first book, Divine Detour: The Path You Didn’t Choose Can Lead to the Faith You’ve Always Wanted, will release in early 2023. Find her at https://loriannwood.com.

Have you ever felt like you've suddenly gone off course - detoured into unchartered territory? Teresa Janzen shares a ministry report and message that will encourage you on your journey - even when you have no idea what the future holds.
Lewis and Clark, the famous explorers, navigated the Missouri River. They were expert river navigators, and they had a whole team of people with them called the Corp of Discovery.
They were given the commission by the President of the United States to find a water passage to the Pacific Ocean. This is going to be a game changer for the US for trade and development and all that type of stuff. And they navigated to the source of the Missouri. and when they crested the mountain expecting to find a river on the other side, what they found was the Rocky Mountains—big surprise.
Sometimes you go into a situation thinking that you know what's going to be ahead. You've prepared for it. You took courses for it, you studied for it, you've held committee meetings for it, you've set budgets for it, and you crest the mountain and think you're going to move forward. And all of a sudden you find yourself in a situation that you hadn't planned on, and nothing that you've done in the past has prepared you for it.
If you feel stuck in a rut and unable to move forward, get Teresa’s free guide, “Get Out of that Rut!” https://teresajanzen.com/unstuck/

Against police evidence, without a body and on presumptions, Rusty Labuschagne was convicted of drowning a fish poacher during Mugabe’s rule. He served 10 years in Zimbabwe’s prisons, including the notorious Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, where he suffered through the Zim dollar crash, with food shortages, no running water, and people dying around him daily.
He speaks eloquently about being subjected to conditions most people would find unendurable, having to dig deep within himself to find solutions to an unbearable situation. His resilience, ability to face adversity, and pure grit are an unparalleled inspiration.
After years of bitterness and anger, Rusty learned how to forgive those who had caused
his suffering. He found that who you are and the depth of your determination
will get you through life’s darkest moments. Learn how to harness your inner
strength and let go of what you cannot control. Ultimately, it was faith in
God, a positive mental attitude, and lessons in forgiveness, gratitude, and
humility that probably saved his life.

Rusty Labuschagne is a unique premier speaker on the professional circuit. One is immediately struck by his sincerity and humility as he delivers a dramatic account of his transformational experience. Rusty has been through a trauma few have experienced. In 2003, the successful Zimbabwean businessman, who ran a safari outfit, flew his own aircraft, and had a fishing resort on Lake Kariba, was framed by a poacher, the police, and the courts, and wrongfully convicted of drowning a poacher.
He talks and writes about being subjected to conditions most people would find unbearable, having to draw on his inner resources and strengths to endure the unimaginable. In the process, he developed not only a life-saving resilience but also empathy and a keen desire to help his fellow inmates. His faith in God, positive mental attitude, leadership qualities, and lessons in forgiveness, gratitude, and humility bring a personal, transformative, and authentic message of hope and freedom.
In his book and to audiences, Rusty’s message is that everyone is faced with challenges, but it is who you are and the depth of your determination that will get you through life’s darkest moments. He shows how one can harness one’s inner strength and let go of what one cannot control. His talks have a broad audience appeal, from leadership lessons for CEOs and managers to inspiration and staff members’ motivation. They will all feel an impact.

Guest Bio:
Johnny McWilliams, author of the 4-book series, INTERSECTION—Where God’s Wealth Meets God’s Wisdom, writes with the central message of planning your finances to involve God from the word ‘Go.’
It is not merely a matter of knowing God’s principles in dealing with your finances. It is about making your entire life plan, and hence your finances, centered on God’s purpose for your life.
Johnny came to this place of faith after making some serious money blunders—all because he did not consult his Wealth-Maker. Only when he gave control of his life back to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and began living by the Word, did his financial situation start to turn around and bring such lasting returns that he is now able to teach others.
Founder of Zero In Financial LLC, Johnny guides his students, customers, and clients as they RECOVER from past money mistakes, GROW their present pocketbook position, and ZERO IN on their future financial fortune.
After working as a tax preparer, dissecting the details of credit scoring and reporting, passing various exams and licensure, including Series 7, Series 66, life & health insurance, and real estate broker, Johnny realized the average American’s need for financial coaching, education, and inspiration.
Once Johnny completed ten years of enlistment in the United States Navy, graduated with a Master of Business Administration, worked as a property & casualty insurance consultant, and became certified as a Ramsey Solutions Master Financial Coach, he began guiding individuals and families to Zero In on their financial target.

Beth is a proud military spouse of 25 years. She began a relationship with Jesus Christ a few years after she wed her military husband because of her involvement in a Bible Study. Beth and her husband saw their lives and marriage dramatically transformed by Christ and the Biblical blueprint for marriage and began sharing that information with other military couples. After 25 years, her husband was ready to retire but they weren’t ready to leave gospel-centered ministry to the military behind. So, they joined Cru Military's staff, a Campus Crusade for Christ division, and moved to Colorado. They work as missionaries to the military and are engaged in ministry to cadets at the Air Force Academy and other ministries to couples and women at the 4 military bases in Colorado Springs. Beth is completing a master’s degree from Gateway Seminary to better equip her for leading Bible study with military spouses and women. Beth and her husband have two kids in college.

About the guest: Growing up between two refugee camps, Nyajuok and her family lived at the limited generosity of the United Nations (U.N). Shortly after her family moved to the United States of America, Nyajuok found herself in another war when her family forced her into an arranged marriage at 14 years old. Hoping for a better future, she broke cultural norms and practices to pave a better future for herself and future generations despite what her family or her community thought. With three children, a failing marriage, health problems, and a doomed career, Nyajuok became hopeless and contemplated ending her life. Luckily, her Christian upbringing saved her when she was on the verge of suicide. Nyajuok realized that her lifelong struggles and unrelenting will to succeed could be a survival guide for someone in their darkest moments. As difficult as it was to relive these moments making this book come to life, she knew her experiences were not only for her but for those who might be walking a similar path. After putting her misfortunes down on paper, Nyajuok learned her ultimate life purpose. She became a champion of resilience. In this captivating memoir, Nyajuok illustrates her life story unapologetically despite coming from a patriarchal society in an East African country. Her life is a true testimony that no matter where we come from or what we have faced, the American Dream is alive and available to anyone willing to work for it.

Today’s show is about finding freedom from abusive relationships.
Even if you’ve never been in an abusive relationship, chances are that you know someone who was, or is. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, approximately 20 people are abused by an intimate partner every minute in the US alone. That equates out to about 10 million men and women per year. Get more statistics here: https://ncadv.org/STATISTICS
Susanne Moore is an overcomer. She has not only survived numerous and various abuses in her life, she has recovered to wholeness and now serves an abuse and recovery coach. Today we talk about hope and freedom and how to help those who are still trapped.
