Preventing Decline with Neuroscientist Dr. Keith N. Darrow

Finding Your Avatar Patient with Richard Kaner

Keith Darrow

Richard Kaner is the co-founder of Brooklyn Audiology Associates which he grew to the largest private practice in Brooklyn! He is also the co-author of the book, Break Free of Hearing Loss!

Following Mr. Kaner’s clinical studies in audiology, he completed a master's level original research project in “Sound Quality Measures of Different Transducer Types” and ultimately completed a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders. He has since pursued a career in private practice audiology and hearing loss treatment. He felt this was the best and most effective way to educate patients and their families about the effects of not treating hearing loss as well as the resulting impact on the brain.

Over the past four decades, Mr. Kaner has treated nearly 100,000 patients with hearing loss. He stays motivated by the millions more with untreated hearing loss who are not attaining the quality of life they are capable of. His ultimate goal is to change the stigma associated with hearing loss, and by doing so, to increase the cognitive function of people as they age.

In this episode we discuss:
1. What has kept Mr. Kaner engaged in the field for over 4 decades?
2. What is the biggest change he have seen in your 4 decades of practicing?
3. What are some of the resources out there for independent audiologists to stay independent?
4. What is the one thing he would have liked to see changed in the 43 years of your career?
