However, since the publication of Fiducia Supplicans and the rejection of the document by the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), the Church in Africa is beginning to take the lead in the affirmation of the teachings of Church on marriage and family life, and maintaining the traditions of the Church once received from the saint on some of the most contested issues in today's Church.
