Praise isn’t one-size-fits-all. In this sermon, Ps Monica Collard explores seven Hebrew words for “praise”—showing how Scripture invites us to lift our hands, sing, kneel, celebrate, give thanks in advance, and even shout with triumph.

-Yâdâh - hands of praise; to revere with extended hands (Ps 67, verse 3; Ps 44, verse 8)
-Hâlal - fools of praise; to boast, rave, celebrate (Ps 149, verse 3; Ps 150, verse 6)
-Zâmar - music of praise; to make music, sing (Ps 144, verse 9; Ps 57, verse 7)
-Tôwdâh - expectation of praise; thanksgiving before the answer (Ps 56, verses 11-12)
-Bârak - posture of praise; kneeling, blessing God (Ps 100, verse 4; Ps 103, verses 1–2 and verses 20–22)
-Tehillâh - songs of praise; new/spontaneous song (Ps 22, verses 3)
-Shâbach - shout of praise; loud triumph, holy roar (Ps 145, verse 4; Ps 117, verse 1)
