And that was a Live Journal, I think was"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":370.59000000000003,"endTime":376.92,"body":"a thing. So that was like a form of blogging. My first blog, which still"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":396.0,"endTime":401.52,"body":"exists today, but we don't actively put blog posts"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":401.52,"endTime":407.85,"body":"on it anymore is redefining mom, and that was born"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":401.52,"endTime":407.85,"body":"out of me being very upset about the maternity"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":407.85,"endTime":413.01,"body":"leave policies in the United States. I started it"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":407.85,"endTime":413.01,"body":"when I was seven months, seven months postpartum."},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":413.16,"endTime":419.82,"body":"I was in the throes of really bad postpartum PTSD"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":413.16,"endTime":419.82,"body":"that was undiagnosed at the time. And I had my"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":419.82,"endTime":425.67,"body":"corporate career and I just felt like there's"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":419.82,"endTime":425.67,"body":"something wrong with how we treat working moms in"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":425.67,"endTime":430.02,"body":"this country. And I have something to say about"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":425.67,"endTime":430.02,"body":"it. I've always been outspoken and opinionated. So"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":430.8,"endTime":438.0,"body":"I put a blog on the internet and I started kind of"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":430.8,"endTime":438.0,"body":"Any rants with no other objective I wasn't trying"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":438.0,"endTime":444.51,"body":"to make money. Then the the world of monetizing"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":438.0,"endTime":444.51,"body":"blog started picking up because when I started"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":444.51,"endTime":449.79,"body":"blogging and learning WordPress, there was like"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":444.51,"endTime":449.79,"body":"two people teaching it super technical. I remember"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":449.79,"endTime":452.97,"body":"getting very frustrated, because you know, I"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":449.79,"endTime":452.97,"body":"worked full time, too, I didn't have and it wasn't"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":452.97,"endTime":458.64,"body":"supposed to be monetized at that point. So I paid"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":452.97,"endTime":458.64,"body":"someone like $400 to to get me started, because I"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":458.64,"endTime":463.05,"body":"had no idea what I was doing. Now. I mean,"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":458.64,"endTime":463.05,"body":"learning WordPress, so much. WordPress is not"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":463.05,"endTime":467.67,"body":"intuitive, in my opinion. But it's so much easier"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":463.05,"endTime":467.67,"body":"than it was back then. Because people are actually"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":467.67,"endTime":475.77,"body":"teaching in a more simplified way. So I did the"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":467.67,"endTime":475.77,"body":"traditional blogging from 2013, to 2016. And then"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":475.77,"endTime":480.48,"body":"I quit my job in 2016, to take the business full"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":475.77,"endTime":480.48,"body":"time. And what really occurred to me so my"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":480.48,"endTime":486.06,"body":"backgrounds in corporate marketing, everything I"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":480.48,"endTime":486.06,"body":"did in corporate was ROI driven return on"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":486.06,"endTime":494.07,"body":"investment. And there's some backwards ways that"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":486.06,"endTime":494.07,"body":"blogging was taught for a long time, which was"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":494.1,"endTime":500.31,"body":"lead with free content, and make money off of"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":494.1,"endTime":500.31,"body":"sponsored posts, send people away from your site."},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":500.37,"endTime":503.76,"body":"So you've spent all this energy getting people to"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":500.37,"endTime":503.76,"body":"your site, and then send him away and display ads"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":503.76,"endTime":509.82,"body":"for pennies on a click. And also like affiliate"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":503.76,"endTime":509.82,"body":"marketing, I thought, but if I'm sending people"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":509.82,"endTime":514.02,"body":"away to recommend other products, why don't I find"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":509.82,"endTime":514.02,"body":"a way to bring them in my world. So I can own that"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":514.02,"endTime":518.34,"body":"relationship first, and then recommend the product"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":514.02,"endTime":518.34,"body":"and get the kickback. So from like a marketing"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":518.34,"endTime":524.13,"body":"perspective, I thought, this is a whole lot of"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":518.34,"endTime":524.13,"body":"work for very little payoff, at the end of the"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":524.13,"endTime":530.55,"body":"day, and I could not see how to grow an actual"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":524.13,"endTime":530.55,"body":"business beyond replacing my paycheck, which is"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":530.55,"endTime":536.64,"body":"different. Replacing your paycheck isn't all that"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":530.55,"endTime":536.64,"body":"hard. I don't I don't want to say that like it."},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":536.9100000000001,"endTime":542.46,"body":"It's not easy either. I'm not saying that. But I"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":536.9100000000001,"endTime":542.46,"body":"mean, you can blog and replace, like an average"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":542.46,"endTime":547.1700000000001,"body":"paycheck. But turning it into a company with cash"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":542.46,"endTime":547.1700000000001,"body":"flow and employees is a completely different"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":547.1700000000001,"endTime":552.6,"body":"ballgame. And I could not see how it was going to"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":547.1700000000001,"endTime":552.6,"body":"be feasible with these typical blogger models that"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":552.6,"endTime":559.71,"body":"some people do it but they drive insane amount of"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":552.6,"endTime":559.71,"body":"traffic. And I just that disconnect between all of"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":559.71,"endTime":567.5699999999999,"body":"this effort to get people to my site, just to send"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":559.71,"endTime":567.5699999999999,"body":"them away, just confused me. And then I, it really"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":567.5699999999999,"endTime":575.9100000000001,"body":"dawned on me that wait, blogging when used in a"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":567.5699999999999,"endTime":575.9100000000001,"body":"business not for ranting about, you know the"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":575.9100000000001,"endTime":581.88,"body":"maternity leave policies which are very valid. But"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":575.9100000000001,"endTime":581.88,"body":"if I want this to be a business, I have to start"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":581.88,"endTime":587.19,"body":"with the end in mind. So I backed up and thought,"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":581.88,"endTime":587.19,"body":"what am I selling? What am I actually going to"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":587.19,"endTime":593.34,"body":"make money on in this business. And that's where"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":587.19,"endTime":593.34,"body":"my love affair with digital products came from. I"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":593.34,"endTime":599.52,"body":"launched my first digital product, much like I"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":593.34,"endTime":599.52,"body":"started my blog accidentally. i When I quit my"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":599.52,"endTime":605.13,"body":"corporate career, all of my working moms on"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":599.52,"endTime":605.13,"body":"redefining mom, were like, wait a minute, you are"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":605.13,"endTime":610.71,"body":"the spokesperson for the right to work and"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":605.13,"endTime":610.71,"body":"changing workplace policies. And now you quit. So"},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":610.71,"endTime":614.28,"body":"what's going on? I'm like, Wait, I didn't quit."},{"speaker":"Monica Froese","startTime":610.71,"endTime":614.28,"body":"I'm going to build my own business.
