Parkinson's Empowerment
In this podcast we hope to help to help people living with Parkinson disease remain active and maintain/maximize independence by listening to others share their Parkinson's journey, hearing from clinicians and specialists, and keeping up to date with the latest research and resources.
Parkinson's Empowerment
Ivana Graduated from LSVT BIG with flying colors. She talks about the relief and benefit of letting people know she had Parkinson's instead of hiding the diagnosis.
Ivana, a retired kindergarten /4th grade teacher, and I talk about the improvements she saw in her balance and posture and overall mobility soon after starting the LSVT BIG program.
She talks about her Urban Poling Stability poles and the benefits she has had since starting to walk with them. We talk about knee replacements, one last year and another scheduled for the end of this summer, and which class to begin after she graduates from this round of physical therapy.
Ivana mentions that she does not have tremors. According to the Parkinson's Foundation about 70% of people with PD experience tremors.
