I’ve given Stephen A. Smith plenty of grace. I respect his career, his accomplishments and what he’s done for Black people in media.

I also believe he has every right to disagree with Jasmine Crockett, Kamala Harris, the National Association of Black Journalists or anybody else.

But there’s a line for me.

When Stephen A. took his dispute with Black journalists and Black women onto Sean Hannity’s Fox News platform, I felt differently about it.

On this episode of the Concrete Genius Podcast, I react to the Stephen A. Smith/Hannity conversation and break down why I believe having a powerful microphone comes with responsibility.

This conversation goes beyond Stephen A. It’s about Black media, accountability, political independence, protecting the community while still holding each other accountable, and knowing who is being entertained when we publicly expose our disagreements.

Can Stephen A. criticize Black politicians without being called a sellout? Absolutely.

But should there be a difference between criticism and taking internal grievances to an audience that may have completely different intentions?

That’s the conversation.
