Our narrator, Keph, has about had it with all the deception, bureaucracy and lonely drudgery of his mission. He decides to take a joyride in a 'borrowed' starship. An easy enough thing for a stealth-mind to get away with. But away from all the mind-monitoring systems of the Naiar, Keph will learn some surprising truths about himself, his past, and his connection to the mission.
