Tired. Sore. Foggy. Running on coffee and not much else.

If that sounds like your average Tuesday, this episode is for you.

I'm back in the shed with Hectic Hector for round two and seven months on from our last conversation the results speak for themselves. This isn't about smashing weights and looking good. It's about building a body that can handle big workdays, family life and hard training without breaking down.

We get into the real stuff. Why what you eat matters more than how hard you train. Why caffeine and energy drinks are not real energy. Why alcohol is sabotaging your sleep even when it feels like it helps you switch off. And why chasing testosterone replacement and weight loss shortcuts without fixing the root cause is only making things worse.

If you're a builder or tradie who wants to feel younger, move better and stop waking up every morning already exhausted — hit play.

Welcome Back And The Goal

SPEAKER_01

Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Level Up. We are back in the shed this afternoon for another Hectic podcast because we've got Hectic Hector with us again today for round two. So uh big warm welcome to uh Hector the Hallistic Coach of Hey buddy.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely excellent, loving it, you know. Very happy to be here. It felt like three weeks ago I was here, and it's actually seven months.

SPEAKER_01

Well, mate, that's why we got you back because I want to show people the progress that we've made this year. Like I've um I've never committed to any type of uh personal training uh or fitness training or health training, I'm not sure, but for so long. Like so it's seven months since we had you here. Um I've smashed out a heap of goals this year. Um so yeah, let's talk. I want to talk a lot today about what you and I are doing together, how we're doing it, the obviously the results we're getting out of it. Um, and then at the end we'll get into how people can work with you.

SPEAKER_00

Excellent.

SPEAKER_01

So I don't even know where to start.

SPEAKER_00

So, well, the first one it is here, it's a very clear one. As you mentioned, personal training. Because I look the way I look and I do what I do, doesn't mean that I expect my customers to do that. Personal training that has to do with the gym lifting is only 20% of my business. As a Czech practitioner, holistic laughter coach, I work with everyday normal high achievers, high performance people with kids, with business, with hectic lives. And when anybody tells me, Hector, I'm a bit tired, I've been doing 16 hours a day, I'm like, well, you sign up for it. That's what we do. So, how to maximize your energy, your focus, your sharpness, the quality of the time on the weekend with your kids, yeah, that's what I thrive.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, the the biggest difference, like I'm feeling a lot fitter, I've put on a heap of muscle, I I feel like I'm 20 again, but I the biggest difference is the way I feel. Like, I I don't, I don't, like I said to you the other week, like I'm busting my balls, I'm pushing harder on weights, I'm lifting more weights, and I but I'm not sore. I'm not I don't feel like I flogged myself.

SPEAKER_00

When you rebuild the B8 with the perfect gearbox and transmission and everything, you are pretty confident to give it to it, smoke it, and it's nothing's gonna go broke. Maybe your pocket from getting new ties all the time, but that's the confidence and the satisfaction that I get with myself and everybody that comes on board as trying hard after X amount of months of having the right amount of hydration, minerals, nutrition, then you can go to the gym, give it all, and you won't be a cripple the next day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, mate, I know. And to use your analogy, I guess, of the V8, like I I've got to put premium unleaded in all the time now because if I put the bloody the shit in, I I feel it like with literally within an hour of eating rubbish, uh my body's rejecting it.

Premium Fuel Nutrition And Hydration

SPEAKER_00

Like is knowing for most people, but between knowing something and doing it is a very different thing. The two best things that you should invest a large amount of your money, time, effort is on knowledge that will help you to improve, to grow as a business coach, health coach, and good quality premium petrol. I never look at what's gonna be the cost of getting all my really good quality grass-fed, organic fed meat. Actually, I hardly buy meat, I hunt most of it, but that's all right. Or the very good quality premium fish because that feel helped me to perform to the next level. And eating rubbish, nobody makes money sick. Nobody gets excited when you are burnout. Guys, girls, chronic fatigue, burnout is crazy. I I've been in the business for 16 years, but over the last year, it's just like taking off, taking off to the next level because we don't switch off.

SPEAKER_01

People are just filling their bodies full of shit, mate. Not only shit food, shit social media, just too much time in front of a screen.

Blood Tests And No Quick Fixes

SPEAKER_00

100%, 100%. So something that I have always worked very closely, as you know, it is work on the internal health first. And without having the clear goals where you're going, is you're just wasting energy and time. So have that clear. What do I mean internal? Your blood work, your body composition, your bone density. Anybody up there over mid 40s? Oh, you lose your strength because your bones and this and that. Every month I get some mid 50s plus telling me, Hector, I'm strong and healthy and feel better than when I was 40. What happened? You just swap the rubbish petrol for good quality. In the HK programs, literally for all my six months customers on the programs, I have included all the blood tests done by the in-the-house doctor. And if you don't fully understand how your body reacts, when you get to see that on Piper in front of you four months into it, then you realize I'm not just feeling energy. I drop my cholesterol, my blood pressure, blogs, and girls. If you believe that TRT, testosterone treatment replacement is the way to go, I'm sorry to tell you, but it is as it goes up, it's gonna go down. And then you will have to go into heavier drugs, heavier drugs, because they're no helping what caused the issue. They're only numbing the outcome, the side effects. So I'm like, uh and the other one, terrible now. I'm like, every week I get somebody to reach me at Hector. Uh my my my wife and my friend is friendly thinking about going to OSMP. That's the new it's not OSMP, it's a new drug in America, yeah, the miracle to drop fat. Okay. People they're losing the eyesight from it is proof already, and they've only been out for a couple of years. But some people are still willing to risk that.

Meal Prep And Cutting Food Fads

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, everyone's after a quick fix. No one wants to be the put in the consistency, the effort, the time. But honestly, mate, it it hasn't been any more time consuming to do what I've been doing this year. Like the only thing is having the knowledge to when you go to like we obviously grow our own meat anyway, so all of it, we have our own beef, but um, like go buying organic chicken, um, we have our own chicken, so we like I've been eating a lot of eggs. Yep. But I prepare now, so rather than randomly bought like what I thought was good food anyway, like getting a salad sandwich or a salad roll. I I haven't um you come to the farm on the weekend, like that that wrap I had on the weekend was the first wrap I've had in seven or eight months. Like I don't have breads now, I don't have pastas, I don't have wraps, like um, I just avoid a lot of that shit. But it's not hard to go to the supermarket, buy like you can buy a 10-pack of organic drumsticks for eight bucks and stick them in the air fryer for like 22 minutes and you've got a beautiful meal. Like, it's uh it's not hard to eat well.

SPEAKER_00

But as you know very well, the outcomes that we get from working together is not just about pushing hard and sweating, it's not just about going how to go home, it's about having the knowledge. And when you fully commit to start taking notes, writing down your energy levels, your hydration, your food, your sleeping, then we proper highlight what is not helping you. And then you just avoid it. Just like when you know that one of your team members is very much underperforming, or even worse, it is a terrorist that you got into the business, you need to address that. And that could be an uncomfortable conversation. And see you like a lighter, or so you shit with the food is Hector. I don't know what's wrong with me. Uh, maybe the soy latte from the coffee shop that you don't understand the amount of crap that goes into soy milk is ruining your balls. What do you mean? That's why you your sex drive is gone. Soy is one of the most harmful things for my testosterone.

SPEAKER_01

Is it really?

SPEAKER_00

It's extremely bad. Extremely high on estrogens, synthetic estrogen. Soy is made for cows.

unknown

No man.

SPEAKER_00

We're not supposed to eat the shit, drink it. The time is, oh, I don't do dairy, I do almond milk. God damn it. Almond milk is full of sunflower oil and hip so the multifires and shit. So it's not about doing new things, it is about stopping what is really expecting it.

SPEAKER_01

Everyone gets caught up in the hype. Like no one does it, like that. That's not something else I've learned from you. Like everyone gets sucked into these flash names and these different milks and all these fads, but they don't actually know what's in that product. Like they're just going because everyone else is doing it. Like, that's the one biggest thing I've taken away from you so far. Like, you everything I tell you that I've either had that I'm thinking about having or that I'm doing, you tell me what's in it and what it's going to do to me and how it's going to affect me, and then I can make an educated decision on whether I want to do that or not.

SPEAKER_00

It's well, that's a topic that we could do a whole podcast just on that, but it is unbelievable the amount of Australian-level athletes, elite athletes, that they have come to me because they're facing retirement at 24 years of age. My back cannot handle it, my legs, my ds are just burn out or just depressed. And I'm like, you've been working with the NTIS, high performance of Australia, da da da. You represent the country and you just eat fucking garbage from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep. Guys, unfortunately, the funds, the money to do the research to become a lot of these there are a lot of great people up there, but you don't get that from your everyday course education from a nutritionist or dietitianist. There are a lot of them great, but the one that just go to get a course, a certificate, to make an income, to pay the living, they're just promoting crap. The diabetic protocol is starting with law fat milk and cereal for breakfast. If you want to get diabetic, eat that shit.

unknown

Fuck!

Tradie Bodies Back Pain Turnaround

SPEAKER_01

Well, I love it.

SPEAKER_00

Hector, what are you talking about? You're not an expert. I got on record many customers that have been able to beat diabetic type 1 and diabetic type 2 just with the principle of eating the right food. So we think there are the high levels of competition eating the very best. You are a long way far from it. And as we spoke that in the previous podcast, I find myself on the bottom rock at 28 years of age, representing the country, New York, at the world titles. And there was no hope to get me better without drugs, without medication, without operation. And I simply refuse to do that with my wife Caroline. That's where we become Czech practitioners. So everything up there that is just selling a product, they don't want you better because they want you to keep behind the product.

SPEAKER_01

So we were going all day about that as well. It's um, I believe that there's a lot of genders in the world. But mate, today you're here because we we want to talk about how we can help people in the construction industry live better lives, feel better. Uh like trade isn't built as we flog our asses out on site. It's very hard on our bodies. Like um, that was probably the main reason I I sort of reached out to you originally, but like I can happily put my hand up now and say, like, I'm like I recently turned 45. I I feel like I'm in my 20s again. Like I don't I don't have the aches and the pains. I don't I was told my like I've been told three times in my life that I should I'll be in a wheelchair, like I should be in a wheelchair. Like um my back's always giving me grief. I've had problems with my sciat nerve for 25 years, like keeping me awake at night, giving me pain all the time, like driving in the car, like feeling uncomfortable, like all these shitty little niggly things that were just uncomfortable constantly that I think over time do get you a little bit depressed and get you down and hold you back and all those types of things, but they're all gone. And even like my sadic nerve, um, the last couple of days, it's it's played up for the first time in a long time. Like on the way home from the farm on the weekend on the drive, it started getting a bit sore, but I've and you know I'm I'm having a pretty tough time at the moment. I've got some hard shit going on in my life, but yeah, um mate, I just like Monday morning, I was straight up early, I've committed to a good diet all week. I one day I didn't do my workout because I had some shit that I had to deal with, but um, I've stretched every day and my static nerves back on track again. Like, but that's that's in four days, whereas in the past I've put up with it for years at a time. Like, so this shit works. Like, people out there that are whinging and bitching about uh all the aches and pains and stuff they've got, like, have a thing about your diet. What are you putting into your body?

SPEAKER_00

Like, um, but yeah, we need to see that uh 100% on you, Duane, and just for everybody up there, not everybody that comes on board with me, they get that unbelievable outcome because they don't put the unbelievable amount of effort. So this blog is running out of chaos because it's eating so many of them from the farm. So it's what takes.

Stress Stimulants And Insulin Swings

SPEAKER_01

Oh mate, I see the results, and the results drive me to do better.

SPEAKER_00

Correct. So what I find the common denominator in the construction business is as a plumber, cup in time, electrician, whatever. We all start very excited with the tool patch, toolbox, making some good money, working, getting nice cars, doing what we do. Then if you keep improving yourself, you get to a point that you run your own business. You got a couple of people working on you. So then you're no longer on the heat of the day working with the tools, you're more doing paper work. The stress is twice as higher, five times as higher when you're managing people and customers. Before you went to get a job, went home, got chat face now and then. If you're a plumber, maybe treat us a stripe, but that's all right. That's what they do. And then you back to work on Monday, hangover, and you don't have to deal with the customer. You just do your job. Running the business is a lot more mental stress. And to counterbalance the stress, the body cries for all the wrong things: sugar, snacks, caffeine, alcohol. If you look into it, the full blood world, they always talk about it. When you control your insulin spikes, you're no longer bipolar. Happy wife, happy life, happy hormones, happy wife, happy insulin, happy female. I cannot say enough about how many cases come, Hector. You save my fucking marriage. Why? My wife does no longer want to kill me anymore. Yeah, because you stop bringing in wine three times a week at night and all the other treats. Swap into something a bit more like a Mediterranean. Go and eat heaps of meat, seafood, enjoy it. And when you do enjoy, you relax. Be aware that you're not gonna feel great the next day. So the knowledge of keeping data, you really work it out. And average from the moment they start their own business, I seen an incredible spike of health going down. And I'm not talking about just putting body fat. I got a large amount of customers in a pretty bad way that don't weigh even 80 kilos with a backpack full of Bible. Like I mean, you're skinny, you're far from being fucking healthy. Keep the energy level without stimulants, caffeine, energy drinks. It's not energy, it is stimulants.

SPEAKER_01

It shits me to tears now. Like you drive, you go to work to the job sites in the morning, and like on the way to work, you'll pass 10 drive-through coffee stores, and they're all lined up down the road with trading and their trawlers getting coffee in the morning. Like, or you go to the service station, and like ever now that I work with you and I'm more aware of this stuff, like I just look at people and go, Man, like if only you knew what you were doing. Like, I Tuesday morning I went to the service station, got fuel, and the four people in front of me all had two cans of bee or Red Bull or whatever it was at 5:30 in the morning, a sausage roll, a shit packet of sandwich, like that is what they're starting the day with. Like, how can you perform and how can you have a good day when you're starting it with that sort of shit fuel?

Alcohol Sleep And Night-Time Carbs

SPEAKER_00

As a simple way to explain it, anybody can go and get a credit card that they give you so much room to borrow money. As we're talking about people having all this rubbish in the petrol station early morning, especially when your stomach has finally have a break for six, eight hours fasting. Your stomach is ready to go to absorb good food, and you throw that rubbish in, it is exfoliate your face and they put some chicken pood on it. And then ask why you get pimples. I'm like, no. And it is upsetting, but it's what it is. A lot of people they will do the meal prep, they do everything, like do the very best. But if you set your morning with a big punch on the gut, believe me, it's not gonna get better. When you got the bank account, as I was saying before, you get the credit card. As soon as it's maxed out, you have to start paying back and compound insurance. But what we do, we take a pancilla, we take an anti-inflammatory, you're exhausted, have another coffee, have another energy drink. So you just go in on debt more, more, more. And the point you need to know now, I need to go to pay this, you can no longer work because your back is out, your sciatic nerve is gone, or basically, you got such a bad depression because you're overwhelmed with everything. Now, this is a large amount of research that goes into it, but you can pick any ongoing issue that you have, and I will explain you what parasite you have at that point of your life. Yes, I'm pretty clean myself. Most people wash their hands a couple of times, but that has nothing to do with parasites. Our whole life we evolve with them being in the environment, especially if you're gonna farm animals or if you work with lots of animals like we all do. When your body's weak, they're gonna go out of control. And it's such a type of parasite that asks you for caffeine, different ones for sugar, different ones for crappy dairy, grind. Step one how you can become confident with yourself. Put the right thing, drop the inflammation, so you start waking up, not like you've been hit by a road triumph, and that gives you, oh, okay, half a carton of bee is not good for me, I believe. Moving to vodka, moving to gene, better quality. I say to you and I say this all the time. If I ever tell anybody to stop drinking, smoking, viping, or energy drinks, I will not do what I do. I just educate them enough so they make their own decisions. Plus, everybody in the industry, because it's very hot nail, you feel like you do deserve to get home and have that stubby full strength if you're not sparky, of course. You must get yourself some good quality water with the salt, minerals, magnesium, and then treat yourself with an alcohol beverage if you want to it, but no back to back. It's best to have, and I can put my hands on the Bible on this one, you better have 12 drinks striped on a Friday night than two drinks every night for six nights. So the damage is a lot worse having it consistently. Get it done, have a hangover, get over it. So then you get five days of being good, not constantly fighting.

SPEAKER_01

People don't realize it. And look, I was I've never ever I haven't been a big drinker. I don't I very occasionally now have a big night, but um you don't realize until you're not doing it at all that even just having one or two beers just makes you foggy. You're not you're not reacting the way you should react, you're not tr treating people, you're feeling tired. Like it's um until you completely step away. From it. Like, um, like I I've drank the least amount this year that I've drank since I was 18. Like, I've I think I've had one big night, um, had a couple of ginger beers at the farm on the weekend. Um but yeah, you don't realize what it's doing to you until you actually understand like how good you feel without having it.

SPEAKER_00

And it is very tricky, especially at home dynamic with kids. If you don't have your couple of drinks, you will lose your marbles with your kids straight out. And it's horrible, but it's true. I deal with that every week. No, or myself. I wear out my kids quite a bit so that they're good at nighttime. But that alcohol that you need to make you relax, it is actually the sugar and alcohol spiking you insulin, pushing your cortisol out, so you have that relax over that time. But then you sleep, it's gonna be rubbish. So, as I said before, I've been called many times the sleeping doctor. Because without the sleeping that machine, without any bullshit, chemical-based, melatona, serotona, crap, I'm like, just stop wearing your body up before going to bed. And I'm not just talking about alcohol or coffee. It could be actually rice, potatoes, pasta, yeah, all of that. It is sugar. Oh, it's organic, it's organic sugar, it's organic marijuana, still marijuana. Don't tell me that it is healthy because it's natural. I'm like, it's just no good. But please eat it at lunch, not when you need to prep your body to actually sleep.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That's been a big thing as well. Like, I I really like pasta, love it, would eat massive bowls of it, but after learning more with you, like it's it's no longer a big uh nighttime meal. Like, if I we go out for lunch or whatever, I'll I'll have it. But I'm just I'm very aware now of what I'm what the times I'm having things and how much of things I can have. But um mate, I want to talk about well, I want to let people know, and not just to I guess, like I'm not trying to show off or anything like that, but I just want to people to know, like, with what I've done with you this year, what I've been able to achieve, and like we've got even bigger goals planned for next year. Um, because I want to inspire people to take their diet seriously. I've never taken it real seriously. I thought we were eating healthy and I was fit and those types of things, but this year's proved to me that I was nowhere near fit or healthy.

Deadlifts Strength And Better Metrics

SPEAKER_00

When I come into your life, you already have been putting a fair few years into getting yourself with some knowledge about food and this and exercise and IPT and all the stuff. And at that point, I'm like, I'm doing alright. But alright, okay, in my will is average, is not accepted. So I as we expect from our team members to perform at a high level, I expect the sign. As then nobody starts working along with me just to be healthy. You need to have some epic goals. Um exciting because we got videos and proofs of this. Being told many times about your back operation, starting nerve disease. Anybody that have a bit of knowledge to do with exercise after doing consistent eight months of the right nutrition, nurturing your body, realizing that your body that you're gonna go hard with your exercise, but you're gonna get good food, you're gonna get good sleep. So the body gives you more trust. It's a love relationship of 100% commitment. And now we've been already three weeks into the next phase of our program that it is all about strength training, getting ready for cocoda. And the only way to make you back way as strong as ever been. So we can hike the mountains, carry the deals, ride the horses, roll down the cliff, whatever, is with deadlift. Oh Hector, that will break your back. That will correct. If you're eating shit, it will. Many commercial gyms, they are banned. PTs cannot take the clients to do that exercise because they eat the risk of injuring themselves and then they're suing the whole club. Well, have a guess what? All my knee replacement clients, hip replacement, double vertebrae, fuse, bulging discs, all of them. When they do the work correctly and they got enough foundations, they will put that as part of their life. Doesn't have to be a hundred kilos from week one. No, as we see friends that we got in common, they're doing crazy numbers now. But that it is to inspire people, not to scare people, because they didn't start doing that after one week doing that, it is the foundation. So strength is energy, it is longevity. You literally the correlation between the mass of mass on your legs, in your glutes, yes, ladies, on your glutes tells all about your longevity as masses give you so much more energy than just body fat. And that goes with the bone density that you will only find with the full body composition test, dexter scan. That I find I find quite interesting that in Darwin, we could walk in and walk out, get it done on the day. Here, and Victoria Allen Sydney, you need to get a doctor referral to do it. But it's it's great. So that way you get you understand what is going on the inside. And please don't use the wrong measurements. If you're putting on weight or losing weight, it doesn't mean that you're winning or you're losing. You can be losing precious muscle or you can be losing fat with a great cost of energy and everything else because you're not eating enough. So the calorie counting, macro counting, or the set bodybuilding diet, it doesn't work. I haven't encouraged anybody to eat chicken breast for over freaking pretty much 14 years. And if you do, like what we just said before, make sure you follow that up with at least two avocados and a good amount of butter on top of it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the weight thing's a big one, mate. I've never ever been someone to think about my weight or worry about my weight or weigh myself or any of that sort of shit. But um, on one of our calls, I was saying to you, like, I like everyone was telling me, like, you what's wrong? Like, you lose you've lost a lot of weight. And all my shorts were getting baggy, and I just and you said, Have you weighed yourself? So I don't weigh myself. But um, and you said, go and get on the scales. So while we're on jumped on the phone and took went to the bathroom and jumped on the scales, and I'd actually put on weight. So I don't know, you explain it, but it's okay.

Proof Under Pressure Events And Rally

SPEAKER_00

So is that my best camera? Okay, so with the weight, this is hilarious. Just like in the business, if you too worry about your top line and not worry about your bottom line, you're gonna have a not very long successful business. Worry about what you're taking home. This is a kilo of fat. That is a kilo of muscle. That one kilo of muscle, one kilo of fat. It's around three times the volume. So when you're dropping down fat and building muscle, of course, you're gonna look slim when you trim down. So females they get upset because the skull is not badging. But you're losing four inches of your waist, you're feeling great, close fit, you're comfortable, you got energy. That's where you need to focus. And as we got a really good mutual friend, uh Adrian Ramsey, when I need to talk about the sign of my dream house, I talk to him. And if he tells me, Hector, that's a shit idea, I will listen because he's the expert. When it's time to build my house, talk to you. Because you've done a few of them, I believe. You should know. When somebody gives you health advice, or they're telling you you're looking good or bad or whatever, remember, hmm, what do you do for a living? Are you an expert? Or you give me your opinion without any real foundation. Once again, in the first month working with me, I will make sure you all get a proper blood test and everything. Because with the amount of meat that you eat in Ambaran, coconut cream and avocados, oh, you should have a heart attack a long time ago. Your cholesterol blood pressure is better than ever been. Yeah, there's some testosterone level because testosterone, just like orbine, it doesn't run on fucking whippings. It's animal fats, good quality butter, coconut oil, the good stuff. No, what they tried to they well, they didn't try, they did it very successfully back in the early 70s, when they push away from good animal fats into all the vegetable oils. Vegetable oils is the second biggest biggest scam in the world after the food pyramid. So if you think you're doing well because you follow the food pyramid, believe me, you're far from it.

SPEAKER_01

But um, so mate, back to like all this. I think this is all awesome. Like, I love all this stuff now. I'm addicted to it. I hope I hope the uh listeners are getting some good good stuff out of it. But the proof and the pudding, like the um like you when we when we started working together full-time, you um you're very big on understanding goals and those types of things. So like we've had the best event the construction industry's ever seen this year with the level up experience, which you that was a massive event. That was a massive, massive time leading up to it, massive day, but same deal. Like, after a huge day, huge months leading up to that, like still full of energy, still pumped, like just looking for the next thing to do. No oh shit, this is over, I'm gonna go and have a holiday. Like, just uh pumped. Uh we did the 48k Cocota challenge. Yeah, um, my knees were were quite sore at the end of that, but mate, I got I got up the next day, had a little bit of a sleep in, got up the next day. Camille and I went out for breakfast, had a really good breakfast, and drove home and I mowed the yard, like with my pushbow. Like after I'd just done a 48k challenge, 14 hours walking. Um, and then I did the charity rally again this year, and the the charity rally was a thing in 2024, um, which buggered my back. Like I come home from that charity rally, flew down to Sydney for an event, flew back home, and yeah, basically couldn't get out of bed uh on a Saturday morning because my back would had just given way, and that was when they told me again that I should I needed to have an operation. But uh, and that was a final sort of straw in why I was sort of looking for someone like yourself to help me to do it more naturally. But again, I I come home from that, I did more time in the car this year than I did the previous year. Um, and yeah, come home and same deal. Drove the last day of the rally, I drove 12 and a half hours to get home and um same deal. Was up early the next day, did yard work, did stuff for the kids. Like it's just it's changed my life, mate.

Kokoda Prep Boots Hills And Mindset

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, as I said before, the power is on the action of the right instructions. I'm pretty sure you took over six kilos of built on jerky with you for the trip.

SPEAKER_01

I did.

SPEAKER_00

Because I'm like, okay, 14 dice, pop food, shit food, you eat the steak or grilled meat and forget about the rest. Don't worry about the meat pies. And for every so many X amount of hours into the drive, especially with your long legs and everything else, I'm like, whoo, keep the hip flexes on track, it's gonna be a mission. There were a few more stops for a week. But fantastic. Go back energy, no worries. The body holds on to perfect. Yes, it did took a bit with the um a bit of the hip flexes, but man, with your height in that little car, it's uh pretty epic achievement to do all that. Yeah, well, you did maintain your morning routine as well with your flexibility, it's waking up feeling good because you weren't drinking overnight and eating the freaking pies and crap.

SPEAKER_01

So uh mate, it the hydration is a massive part of it. Like I made sure every day in that rally that I had my water bottle, my salt, and uh got stuck into it. But uh we're moving on now. So, like 26, like February, I'm doing the 10 peaks challenge in Australia. So we're gonna do the 10 highest peaks in Australia in two days.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you're off to Canberra to dominate that. That's a bit of a warmer before Coca Cola.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so that's only a little challenge. Um, but yeah, then we're off to Cokeada in April. So uh what you've done Cocata, like 96ks in 10 days. Correct. Um, and from what I understand, depending on weather, if it's nice sunny weather, you can be in camp by sort of one, two o'clock in the afternoon. If it's pissing down rain, you might not get there till five or six.

Sponsor Highwood Timber Healthy Homes

SPEAKER_00

Um at night time, one a.m. in the morning, depending on how the weather is, because over there it's tropical, so it could be anything. Yeah. And I took a team of seven of my customers from all over the country, and especially for all my guys that come from Darwin and Perth, it's not hills. So there were a lot of work on the step-up, the old milk dry, all my plumber boys that were doing on the freaking concrete blocks, is getting that done. So the fitness for Kokoda is not just about endurance. You need to be prepared for never ending uphill and never ending downhill and slippery. So it's interesting, it's a good challenge. Yeah, you will never prepare too much for it. As I was saying before, it is a mental game, but you must do the physical preparation before. And from your boots to your socks, everything. You need to put at least 50ks on them before you even leave the country. Yeah, so you're not getting blisters.

Farm Weekend Micro Breaks And Meaning

SPEAKER_01

I'm pumped. We're gonna smash it out and then we'll have to uh lock in the next challenge. All right, guys, I want to introduce you to a really exciting new product that I believe is going to play a massive role in Australia building healthier homes. As you all know, I am extremely passionate about healthy homes and I'm doing a lot of research and putting a lot of time and effort into making sure my construction business is leading the way when it comes to building healthy homes here in Australia. We've teamed up with the guys from Highwood Timber. Highwood Timber are pioneering condensation management with their high flow ventilated LVL baton system. High flow battons give builders a stronger, straighter, and smarter way to create a ventilated cavity behind cladding and underneath roofs without compromising on structural performance. While tackling condensation to improve building health and ease of insulation, highwood battons are built to perform. When it comes to dealing with condensation and ventilation, high flow battons will help you create continuous ventilated cavities behind all your cladding and underneath your roof sheeting. They reduce condensation risk and support healthier, longer lasting buildings. Highwood timber battons are also in alignment with the proposed NCC condensation management requirements as well as passive house ventilation requirements. Being an engineered LVL product, they are stronger, straighter, and more dimensionally stable than a solid material such as pine. This helps resist warping, twisting, and shrinkage, ensuring more consistent installs less prone to splitting than solid timber. Howwood timber batons are precisely manufactured, meaning that your installation will be faster and easier than other products on the market. The part that I like the most about these batons are they are H3 treated for long-term protection against decay and turmoiles. They use a waterborne H3 treatment which reduces reactivity with membranes and adhesives when compared to LOSP. These are the exact battens that you want to be using on your homes and your builds if you are considering building healthier homes or passive homes. Check them out. Highwood Timber Products. Yeah, no, I'm looking forward to it. Like a bit of hunting and stuff, but um mate, you come up with uh any uh well by the time this podcast out, it'll be a couple of months ago. But last weekend you came up to the to my farm. Bloody, just amazing weekend, mate. Like I I feel very privileged to have the people that I have in my life. Like you um, like he's now a friend of yours as well, like a good mate of mine, Alistair. Correct. Um, you guys are hunting all the time now together, but um like just an incredible weekend, mate, to bring my girls up, your girls, uh a couple of my apprentices, uh, your mum and dad come up. Correct. But like to spend the Friday afternoon, you had a whole you bought a whole lamb, set up a whole lamb on the fire.

SPEAKER_00

Like we busted America to your farm.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

If anybody looks at them, they will think you're in the Patagonia somewhere, Chile, Argentina. Is uh one big thing as culture that I have from my Chilean background is celebration is always to do with good food. And food that takes is a whole process, it's not just a quick getting it done. So you need to make time to it. And as we said to do with the farm or horses or the lazoo roping that got everybody having a good go. Yeah, it's all hobbies, but you need to act on them. Not when you're ready over the top, like keep your stress levels at a good level manageable. Um I explain this all the time with a water bottle. We all can handle different amounts of water, could be 500 mil to three and a half liters. And a plastic bottle, it have you can squeeze it. So when the water is to the very top, maxing out, the most little squeeze is gonna pop water out. So I truly embrace the micro breaks during the week. And it could be your exercise routine, could be you go for a walk or a bit of later work or cooking. Cooking at night in a rust to feed a family of a screaming kid is not grounding, it's not relaxing. So planning ahead what's gonna be the next meal is a really good thing. And anybody up there that it is I got no time to cook, well, you will have to make time to be sick. Yeah, slow cookers, electrical things is is amazing to help you at home. And as we experience that, we love it. When you get to cook outside with real fire, everything, it it is a whole experience.

SPEAKER_01

It's life's all about experiences, like it's just and then shot some rabbits, skinned rabbits, cooked them up on the fire, like that. Mate, they were like unbelievable. Like, I can't wait to eat them again. That's just uh mud crab on the fire, like just yeah, insane. Like just having those experiences and and being able to give my girls, your girls, my apprentices, like those types of experiences is that's what life's about.

SPEAKER_00

Correct. Being confident that you can go out and manage to get a good meal from the most natural, basic instance of human survival that it is hunting-gathering. Come on, I'm not talking about rocket rocket feeling. Yeah, it is the most basic thing, but everybody attempts to move so far from it because it's a lot of benefit to have people away leaving off the package, living off the Uber to your door. Anything material at some point is gonna be done. Experiences they're forever. And if you don't have you back at least on track, more likely you're never gonna get them done. Because if we wait, oh when my box feels better, I will love to do this. Oh, when I get the time to do this, I will do it. Oh, when I get the money, I'm like, that was me, mate.

SPEAKER_01

That I I used my back, my back was an excuse for long, long time. That's and I said exactly that. Oh, when my when my back's better, when my static nose better, I'll I'll do so, do this, do that. Like it was never gonna happen. Like, I had to make it happen.

Three Tips And Finding The Right Expert

SPEAKER_00

Correct. And it's up to us, and it's up to us, and with the social media, you can get so much knowledge. Some of them fantastic, some of them rubbish, but knowledge without action becomes overwhelmed. So a lot of customers they come to me with like very high levels of overwhelming because all they know, but they haven't done one thing, so they get collab. Well, what should they do first? And I'm like, breathe in, breathe out, and that 1500 bucks worth of supplement is not gonna help nothing because you are very, very dehydrate to start with. And then that$3,000 gym setup that you got for home. It will actually make you worse. You need to work on the foundations. And as we have spoken about this many times, everybody knows in the industrial construction business, Splumas, that water goes downhill. I see it every year. Somewhere in this town, it will have to be some excavator breaking concrete to fix the pipe that they went the other way around. Nothing runs uphill, things go downhill. Basic principle, it's happening all the time.

SPEAKER_01

It's um mate. I really appreciate you uh coming on again today. It's it's awesome chat. You got a few notes there. Is there anything you want to uh chat about before we start to wrap it up?

SPEAKER_00

Well, as I would say, it's always the right time to invest in yourself. And I'm not upselling myself. I'm pretty pretty busy and I'm happy where things are with my business. But on Instagram, I do have a large amount of information. Jump on the link after here to look into it. Start getting there because you never know. Maybe in three months, six months, some content I have there will really help you out. The summit is I work with anybody's budget. Whatever you do that you can handle it afford to work with is give us a baseline. And a large amount of time I will say, okay, we'll talk to you when that is no longer stress, because I'm not gonna become another stress in your life. You've really done a good job having so many.

SPEAKER_01

Last time you were here, mate, you um you gave us a few tips. Like it's seven months on. What's what's the upgraded three tips for tradies and people in the industry that uh want to feel better?

SPEAKER_00

Well, second time around, if you haven't got a pen and paper, 80% of chance that they will not happen. Set down some good goals if health, energy, money was not an issue, was not a stop, and they work backwards. Get the right expert on the field. And when I'm talking about an expert, I don't mean somebody with 25 different qualifications, somebody that has a good data of outstanding results. Get the person with the results-based business. As you know, when you do good things, people talk a lot. When you do bad things, you need a shitload of advertise because people don't want to come to you. So you get the one off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Have a clear goal, invest of what is sustainable to do for you. And the biggest one, if you don't enjoy the journey, you won't be able to sustain the results. As we were together, we've been through different stages of our programs. Right now, we got down pack nutrition, hydration, inflammation. You then like 77,000 kilometers on your vehicle rally.

SPEAKER_01

Uh uh just under 6,000.

Level Up Meaning Final Links

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just under 6,000 kilometers. Okay. And I'm sure you have seen the size of Duane's car and him. He doesn't belong to the car, he belongs into the F350. That's the car for you. So to do that and come home and still have functionality, that is a massive breakthrough. Now, as life comes on, sometimes the stress is not from food or water, it is business, life, challenges. Anything that keeps you awake, disturbs your sleep is a massive red flag. If you're pushing her into the gym but you're not sleeping, please back off the intensity. You better to miss a session and get more sleeping. Power naps. Power naps means short and sharp, 20 minutes max. Next one. Right now we've got all the dumb pack. Now we're moving into increasing your strength. Double up your strength, fortify your bones. If you got a financial issues, learn how to make money and keep money. If you got any aches and pains, learn how to rebuild yourself and stay there. So while we're building, we have to put the commitment and the effort. And then when you get there, then you still have to mind time it. You can't just get there and forget about it. So when you you have a commitment, business event or anything, you're gonna enjoy some drinks, that's fine with me. Just make sure, enjoy your drink, follow that up as a good tip as well. Sparkling water with a bit of lemon to help your liver to clean that. Your liver is an extremely important organ because it gives you the feel to get the engine going. As I call it the petrol filter. Simple as that. It's not rocket science, but it takes that small steps every day to have the amazing full circle. And as long as you keep throwing at me some crazy goals, we got business to sort. And when you get to the point that I tick, tick, tick, tick, this is Hector, and I got the knowledge, I'm killing it. It's time for you to put that time that you have with me to help somebody else that is on my need. And I will touch base later. I don't want to have another crazy goal to achieve.

SPEAKER_01

Mate, all over it. The girls are gonna keep coming, mate. Mate, what uh last thing before we wrap it up, what's level up mean to you?

SPEAKER_00

Whoa, level up, it is definitely lead by the example. Do it, test it, prove it, inspire the rest. Not with talking, with actions. That's why we get along so well from that one. I will not do this business career if I was out of energy, out of enthusiasm. And the same the reason why you put so much of your heart and energy. We both got kids, we both got marriage. We run your business, be a dad, stay married. All three full-time jobs and a half. So being able to lead by the example from the front, not from the back, with a lot of knowledge, faculty action.

SPEAKER_01

Mate, I love it. Appreciate your time as always. Um, yeah, look, we'll definitely you'll be back again, I'm sure. We'll keep smashing it out. Um, look for we'll put some links up to Hector's stuff, but make sure you go check Hector out on uh Instagram. He's been putting a lot of content up there lately, a lot of good advice. Um, look, I'm not bullshitting with this stuff. Like, you you put in the effort, you're consistent, you'll get the rewards. And I'm sure every single one listening to this podcast wants to feel like they're younger again and get rid of those aches and pains and stuff. So um, if you're interested in that, make sure you reach out to my mate Hector here because he does good things. Old uh Hectic Hector. Guys, make sure you uh like, subscribe, share, all those things. Please go to the DwaynePears.com website, purchase your level up merchandise so that we can continue to create this movement to create a new building industry. Look forward to seeing you on the next one.
