121 - Exodus E5

Providence Road Church of Christ Season 3

"The Grumbling Begins" (16-17:7)

  1. In Exodus 16:1-3, the people begin to grumble against Moses & Aaron.  In what ways are grumbling and anxiety symptoms of ingratitude and weak faith?  Why do we have a tendency to glorify the past?
  2. How did the provision of manna teach Israel faith and trust?  How did it teach the Sabbath principle?  What can we draw from their experience?
  3. The people, with their complaint about water, tested The LORD (17:2, 7).  In what ways can we sometimes test The LORD (Matthew 16:4)?
  4. Jesus tells the woman at the well in John 4 that the water He gives will become a “fountain of water springing up to eternal life” (John 4:14).  In what ways does Exodus 17:1-7 prefigure Jesus?
