I'm just so busy I don't have enough time to go to the gym . Three days a week , four days a week . I Can't stick to my diet that consistently . I can't get motivated today . Do these sound familiar ? These are excuses , and in today's episode of quick wits we are diving into why every excuse is actually a solvable problem . Stay tuned .
Philip PapeWelcome to the wits and weights podcast . I'm your host , philip Pate , and this twice a week podcast is dedicated to helping you achieve physical self mastery by getting stronger , optimizing your nutrition and upgrading your body composition . We'll uncover science-backed strategies for movement , metabolism , muscle and mindset , with a skeptical eye on the fitness industry , so you can look and feel your absolute best . Let's dive right in . Today we are unpacking a hard truth that every excuse is really just a solvable problem . Let's start with the classic I don't have time . Time is a finite resource , right ? But here's the thing it's less about having time and more about making the time , prioritizing your time , finding the time that you have and Allocating it to the things that you want to do that you know are in your best interest for the long term . If you can binge watch a Streaming series and we've all done it then you can carve out time for a 30 minute , 45 minute workout . It's about shifting perspective , not reshuffling hours . And then we have the excuse that I can't stick to my diet , I can't be consistent . It isn't the diet itself , it's the approach , which actually may be the diet , but rigid plant meals are what set us up for failure . And the solution here , the solvable problem here , is the lack of rigidity . And what's the solution ? Flexibility , incorporating foods you love , tracking your intake , knowing what you're eating , focusing on nutrient dense choices so that you can have more Flexibility . And it's never about perfection , it's always about progress and consistency , and that's what's going to get you to ultimately succeed on your quote-unquote diet .
Philip PapeAnother one I hear is that I'm just not motivated . And Motivation is this fleeting thing . It's like willpower . Right Discipline routine . I've talked about this before . That is much more reliable doing the tiny habits , setting the small goals and Celebrating those wins , especially when you have Accountability , such as the wits and weights community or a coach or somebody who is in your corner . Discipline is like a muscle , to use the gym analogy the more you work at , the more reps you put in , the stronger it gets in , the easier it is to use .
Philip PapeSo every excuse you have can be flipped into a Solvable problem with the right mindset , the right strategy . I know sometimes that you just have to know what to do , and it's not always easy to understand what that is . So Reaching out for help , listening to podcasts like this and other evidence-based sources is going to go a long way toward that , so that you can take ownership of your choices and realize that you have way more control than you think . Remember , it's not the mountains ahead of you to climb , that where you out , it's that pebble in your shoe . So let's remove those pebbles , one excuse at a time .
