Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Our journey began with an early flight to Portland and a scenic drive to Roseburg, where we enjoyed some fantastic golf at Bar Run. Bar Run’s relaxed atmosphere, complete with its RV park setting and wildlife encounters, created the perfect backdrop for our eight-ball round. We also discussed the unique features of the course and the cool merchandise we snagged. Reflecting on these adventures, it’s clear that the shared experiences and camaraderie made it all worthwhile.
Bandon Dunes truly exceeded our expectations with its breathtaking views, iconic ghost tree, and memorable holes. We explore the differences between watching course videos and experiencing the course in person, emphasizing the value of the immersive, on-the-ground perspective. Each course offered a unique experience, with highlights including Dan's hole-in-one at Sheep Ranch and the tradition of receiving a framed photo.
We also debate the evolving nature of golf attire, balancing comfort and respect for tradition. Join us for a fun-filled discussion of the highs, lows, and laugh-out-loud moments from our golfing adventures, and stay tuned for more insights and entertaining stories from recent golfing events.

what is up? Everybody is it? Am I doing or are you doing it? What the hell, jim? Jesus christ, welcome back welcome back. I was muted welcome back to the uh chasing daylight podcast. We are back from our trip. Look at, we already got an onslaught of all-stars in the chat on yeah, big all-star ryan orr miles brown, josh paccio that's my cousin josh pachaco uh, we are back.
Speaker 1We are back from bandon. Uh, we had an absolutely fantastic time. If you're tired of hearing about Bandon, come back next week. We're going to be talking about it tonight. We had a fantastic time. There was eight of us going. We'll get into that in a second. First off, as always, I want to thank Scott Russo for allowing us to use Harmonic as an intro and his continued support along with the Golf Stop intro and his continued to support along with the golf stop. Uh, las Vegas is or Southern Nevada's premier indoor track man lounge facility. There's, uh, some new restaurants opening up. There's a new coffee shop opening up. You got McDonald's. There's a sushi restaurant. There's Jersey Mike's all kinds of things you can do Grab some food, go hit some balls, chill in the cool air and hang out with those guys, cause they're a really great group. All right, now that we got the particulars out of the way, how are you guys doing tonight?
Speaker 5Good Good, fully recovered. Yeah, fully recovered.
Speaker 1It took me a little bit. It took me a little bit. I've been getting sick on the trip didn't help. And then, coming home, like, as soon as I get home, I get in my own bed, get my routine, I'll get back to normal. Nah, didn't happen. Uh, I was down for three more days at least. Um, it was terrible, uh, but today is like the first day where I feel like a normal human being. So, um, I grabbed some clubs and hit some balls out back today, trying to get back into the swing things. But, jeremy, uh, you had a doctor's visit.
Speaker 4I did yeah, are you okay? I'm good now. I I uh, yeah. So as soon as we landed, my my leg was like a balloon. It was so swollen I was starting to get nervous. I'm like should I go to the er after I dropped matt off? But I got. I got home. I just passed out really on the bed with my foot elevated and iced and woke up and my toes were all tingly because it'd been like up all night. But yeah, I went to the doctor sprained ankle, which I'm pretty sure happened at night golf, which means I walked like 72 holes on a sprained ankle so impressive, yeah man, I'm feeling so much better now joe, you had the, the crippled old man, walk in the airport.
Speaker 1You said you'd walk shorties that way too, but I don't remember it um yeah, I still feel it.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm, my knee is still hurting.
Speaker 1Dude, it was hilarious you were going and getting food and we're sitting there at the gate and steven was like dude. I saw this guy walking. I'm like what the I'm like? Oh shit, that's joe, yeah yep, yeah, it still hurts.
Speaker 2It definitely still hurts. I think I might have suffered the same injury as uh jeremy on night golf. I I vaguely recall stepping in a sprinkler. I mean, I was a little hammered, so I don't know if it happened for sure. It's just in my imagination, but yeah, my knee still hurts. Little hammered is under understated I was big time hammered the first night, for sure, but and then it progressively got less hammered as we went on, but yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, I, I didn't feel like walking to McKee's anymore.
Speaker 4That was my problem.
Speaker 1I I passed on the night golf just cause I could feel I wasn't. I wasn't doing well and I didn't want to have what happened to you guys happen to me step in a hole, fall down a hill.
Speaker 2I will say, on the night golf thing, I'm glad that we did it. I don't think I would do it again. When we were in Pac Dunes the club shop pro was like hey, how did you guys enjoy it? I said I'm glad we did it. I don't think I'd want to do it again. Um, but man, that sky out there when it's just dark and you're in pitch black oregon coast and you look up, I mean you see all of these stars, it. It was amazing just to look up and see that.
Speaker 4Yeah, it was incredible, it really was.
Speaker 1Like I said, I would have liked to have done it. I wasn't feeling good and it was a lot of fun just hanging out at the fire pit at McKee's and listening to stories and watching. I'm a big people watcher and if you're a people watcher, Brian, they did it on OG. They did one, two, three and nine, oh, nine, sorry sorry, nine.
Speaker 1Yeah, one, two, three, nine. Great place to people watch, great place to listen to stories. I'm proud of myself. I really thought I may have broken and and had some beers, but uh, the no, the no alcohol streak is still intact.
Speaker 2um, it was tough I'll tell you what that, that ghost tree hazy, is pretty damn good yeah, it looks really good so shout out hop valley anything hop valley does is is really good, unless they did the sheep ranch lager, which is trash.
Speaker 1So no qualms with saying that uh, let's see. Uh, dan, no, no banning gear on you. I. I finally picked up something for trails. I my favorite course on the planet. I've got a seamus ball marker. It's the only thing that I have from well, I've got a. I've got a hoodie t-shirt, I think from there too, um, but so I was glad finally got something. Jeremy, got some gear, hey your camera's working tonight, nice. Uh, joe just decided to bail on the band and gear.
Speaker 2Been wearing it all week and then, yeah, I really didn't spend much. I mean, it's like you know, first time we went um, I got something from every course and then, as you go again, it's like you fill in the gaps like something that you really want, and mostly this time I I mostly bought something for the kids, or you know, I bought, like a preserve Turbos cup.
Speaker 1I am going to order a Shorty's hoodie, because man Shorty's was amazing, that was a surprise. I had a feeling it was going to be good. I didn't realize it was that good though.
Speaker 1I mean it really it's, it has really tested my like love of preserve Tattoos did not happen. Mr Jackson had to work late. Mark, he's asking Welcome back to tattoos, happen? Steven Jackson, who is a well-established tattoo artist here in the valley, was on the trip with us and he was going to bring some gear but he had to work late and he said just packing all that stuff was going to be a nightmare. So no, but we are. He is going to be hosting us for a band and boys party at relic. Got out relic and some tattoos will be had for sure.
Speaker 2Yeah, if you need tattoos, go, go. Go check out relic uh body arts over there on Russell and rainbow hell of artists over there. Go get it done over there.
Speaker 1Some great stuff coming out of that studio, so all right. So um other, something small. It wasn't that big of a deal that happened, but dan got a hole in one, so yeah, it was cool then we played next all right, dan, tell us, tell, tell our millions of listeners all about your hole-in-one on sheep. And, by the way, you guys were first out on sheep you first to play that hole.
Speaker 2That day you were the first person to hit on that hole that day.
Speaker 1So first shot on sheep, you first to play that hole that day. You were the first person to hit on that hole that day, so first shot on that hole goes in the hole.
Speaker 5So tell everybody about it. Um, everybody's been there. Uh, it was hole seven, the sheep's ranch. We had a front right pin, I think it was. Um what did we shoot Joe? 146, 147, 46, what did we?
Speaker 5shoot joe 146, 147 46 146 and uh, yeah, there's a little bit of a little bit of a tail breeze and it just hit a pitching wedge and it was pretty, pretty good shot. I mean, I hit it towards the flag and then everything just kind of like went blank after that. Like just saw two, one hop, one little hop, and then all of a sudden the ball just disappeared and we kind of went nuts on the tee box and uh, like I said it was, I kind of went just kind of brain dead for like that 20 seconds that we were celebrating. It was just a lot of screaming and who on I know that. But uh, it was, it was pretty cool. Yeah, it was.
Speaker 2It was a fucking, it was a beaut it was, it was. It was a beaut, I mean just to like man. It was so cool and like you know, unlike yours, matt, when we had the trip in Georgia, like we thought it went in but we weren't sure.
Speaker 1Like there was that whole position, you could totally see a drop.
Speaker 2There was no question. And I've never been in a group where it was like no question, you see it drop and it's like. I remember looking at the caddy's face and he was like because it was his first hole in one that he witnessed too, and I just I remember everyone's eyes were just like so big and like oh yeah, and we're all giving each other hugs. Man it was, it was so cool man, like it was rad yeah, it was a pretty cool moment, for sure yeah, I, uh, I switched spots with jeremy um I am so sorry oh no, it's fine, I'm fine, I the.
Speaker 1The only thing I hate on you for is because I got stuck in that group yeah, that's why I feel bad.
Speaker 1Yeah, slow people so, uh, jeremy was uh taking a caddy, and so him and trey use the same caddy and I was walking, so, uh, pulling my bag, uh I said, yeah, take, take, go with the caddy, absolutely, um. And then we tried to get the guys behind you to switch with us, but they were kind of being asses. And then the group after them, they were like a no-shows or like sweet, we'll at least to get you know. One group behind you guys and the starter called us over and we peg it in the ground. And then they show up from the range, like at the time they're supposed to tee off, and and, uh, they turned out to be the slowest group in history.
Speaker 2They were very slow, I remember. So we started and, um, the the starter was giving us his spiel right and he's like four hours, blah, blah, blah. And I was like three and a half, don't worry about us, we're good. And uh, we ended up in in 340, uh, and I handed him the tracker, because every group gets a tracker, and I said sorry, we didn't make the 330, but it's 340, here you go. He's like thanks, but that group was at least two and a half holes behind most of them.
Speaker 1They were they well, the group behind we were on we were on nine.
Speaker 2the group behind us was just on the green on on eight and they were just starting to tee off on seven, which was Dan's ace, and they didn't hit until we were at our shots in the fairway on nine.
Speaker 1It was, it was.
Speaker 2Or 10, 10.
Speaker 1It was asinine and I don't want to get too much off on a tangent on here. I, I I recently wrote a post on the breakfast ball saying why is etiquette so hard? It's the title of the post. If you want to check it out, go read it. Got a lot of kudos from a lot of people about it, but some of the times and everything are on that post, so go. I'll have a link in the show notes.
Speaker 2I think you were off a little bit on the times, but no, I think they took longer.
Speaker 1No, it I think they took longer. No, it just seemed longer. I was mad. I was like I want these guys in in five hours so I can really go fucking yell because I was.
Speaker 5I was a bitter bitch, I was, and you were sick. You had every right to be, though I was sick I, I was done.
Speaker 1I was tired of watching these guys just take fucking forever. And, like I said, four and a half hours is not a long round of golf but when you're walking and it's Sheep Ranch and you can walk that course and play slow golf in under four hours. Four and a half hours is an incredibly long time to make your way, yeah, we played 340.
Speaker 2We played 340.
Speaker 1And it was just bad, and so I let the verbal hostility out. A cause. I. I saw you guys going up to the 18th green and, uh, I'm like I'm done. We were on the 13th fairway and I'm like. I told Bob and Steven and Cole I said sorry, guys, I'm done. And so I walked over and met you guys as you were walking off the green. Um, and all your faces were like why are you? Here um but that's how far behind they were.
Speaker 2You guys were done on 18 and they had well, you're on 13, so that's that's an five holes, that's that's an hour and 15 minutes.
Speaker 1You teed off 20 or 30 minutes after us, so that's 45 behind yeah, it was, it was bad it was bad yeah, no, but we, when we got the message, you know, uh, hey, dan just had a hole in one we're like, oh, they're fucking with us, because we would have heard him. We didn't realize you guys were five holes ahead of us. So when we realized that, we're like, oh okay, well, that makes a little bit more sense why we didn't hear them. Because they're so far away from us. Yeah, but yeah it was.
Speaker 2It was cool man, it was so cool I.
Speaker 1I wish I could have seen it, but I'm glad that jeremy was there and got to see it. And uh, now we can say as a collective, the, the CDP, has seven hole-in-ones.
Speaker 2And.
Speaker 1Dan has six, I have one. Come on, guys.
Speaker 4Working on it.
Speaker 2Yeah, we'll be okay. Me and Jeremy will be okay.
Speaker 1So we flew out Saturday morning, got to the airport early, went to, we flew into Portlandland uh drove down to uh rosemead. Is that what it is right?
Speaker 2yeah roseburg, roseburg, roseburg I'm terrible with city names.
Speaker 1Uh went to roseburg and played uh bar run, which um was a lot of fun it was a lot of fun.
Speaker 2It was. It was a lot of fun um.
Speaker 1So this this trip we played as an eight ball three times yeah, which is cool we did it at bar run, we did it at preserve and we wrapped it up on shorties. Um, did we all hold dan to the tab? Uh, beds is asking sorry, jumped in late. Did y'all hold dan to the tab?
Speaker 2dan was a fucking gentleman if I do have to say yeah, and he, and he came out on top, he came out on top.
Speaker 1Yeah, we treated him worse, for sure we were playing a buck, a yard for any ace, so he he netted a grand from everybody and bought everybody's food and drinks that night. So dan was an utter gentleman about it because he could have gone right to the pro shop and spent all that money on gear, but he helped his family the one, the one.
Speaker 2The one thing, though, that I didn't get was colby bob and steve's meal, because they went ahead and ordered and I didn't know that oh shit I didn't know that that's yeah yeah, bb and f goes from roseburg miles confirmed I remember I remember derek, uh, golfing with dad, told me that and I I forgot about it, it slipped my mind oh man, we could have gone by and loaded man.
Speaker 4Yeah, that's a cool place to be oh, yeah, yeah, they got it, they got a sizzler man, I mean yeah.
Speaker 3And a fucking sizzler dude.
Speaker 4Joe the Wanderer.
Speaker 1Joe's highlight.
Speaker 3Yeah, so.
Speaker 1Bar Run was a trip. It's a relatively new course. It's from the same designer that Bandon Crossing is Any others, Joe, that you?
Speaker 2Wine Valley.
Speaker 1It's a fun layout. It's got some decent scenery, not crazy scenery. It's kind of in a meadow-y area. You've got hills in the background and I was really surprised. The only wildlife we saw were birds and ducks.
Speaker 2Uh, and bugs because I got bit a shit.
Speaker 1Oh joe well, that's because you were hitting golf balls out of the orchard, the Berwick hole. Everybody did pretty good on that hole.
Speaker 3We got some video of that.
Speaker 1So I have to share some of those. But that was a fun court and we played as an eight and four hours, so for all you slow ass players out there four hours.
Speaker 2So yeah, for all you slow ass players.
Speaker 1Uh, brian or is asking how did everyone uh fair on the north? Barricole barricole just said we got some video of that yeah, yeah, I got a par.
Speaker 2I remember that I hit a fucking sick ass flop over the wall.
Speaker 5That's when uh that was a great shot, joe, I really was but you had the camera set up at the wrong spot, wrong side but you know, yeah, from the other side.
Speaker 2So yeah, so we might have to do a little medley that was the whole.
Speaker 5Thing bob, mine and bob's balls touched. Yeah, yeah, we got.
Speaker 1We got in front of the wall shot, over the wall, shot on top of the wall shot. So, um, yeah, that was, that was.
Speaker 1But that was a fun course and really crazy laid back, I think, you know, after it's there a couple of years and those greens are matured because they were firm but they rolled fantastic. I mean gosh, they rolled so good. Um, little squishy in a couple of areas but uh, you know, the the back-to-back par threes and the three five, three five was kind of fun. Um, definitely, uh, uh, worth a stop. There's, like joe said, there's there's a sizzler and uh, there's not much else in there. Um, but uh, I hear you know some the caddies have told us about that place and they say that you know that's there and crossings is where they like to go. So, uh, it's, it's fun and it's very laid back, it's an rv park and it is an rv park that has a golf course.
Speaker 1It's not a golf course near an rv park. It's an rv park that has a golf course. Yeah, um, the it's very quaint, it's very laid back. You look, we'll get into this a minute, but the, the t-shirts on the golf course. If, if that offends, you do not go to bar run, not only will you see t-shirts, you'll see t-shirts, you'll see tank tops you'll see cut-off jeans. You'll see flip-flops, you'll see guys hitting 14 shots on one hole. I mean, it's after drinking a keg of Pabst.
Speaker 2It's a bar run. That pool area was pretty litty After drinking a keg of Pabst, so it's a.
Speaker 1it's a bar run. It's yeah, it's yeah.
Speaker 5That pool area was pretty litty too, man it was that was some stanky pee water.
Speaker 1You can tell it had been in there for a while. But really cool, really cool place. If you're in the area, make sure you check out bar run and they got some really cool merch Joe picked up one of the shirts. He got American flags on the back of the shirts and real simple logo Alright. We got Dan's Ace Talked about Bar Run Alright. So Jeremy is the only newbie that's on, because all the other newbies Bob Colby and Trey aren't on the show. And I didn't post a whole lot on our IG page for the podcast because you know it was kind of a group outing. I didn't really want us to take over. We got to play a couple of times I was really happy about that at the courses that I really wanted us to play together, and that was Old Mac and Trails, and I got to see Jeremy's face as he came over the hill at number three. Um, video is hilarious. But uh, what was your? What was your thought?
Speaker 1I know it's, it's tough when you have expectations and we threw a ton of expectations on you yeah and we said, no matter what we say, it's not going to live up to it because it's so much better. Um, what? What were your thoughts on? On old mac and in bandon in general?
Bandon Golf Experience Exceeds Expectations
Speaker 4we can, we can do that so I watched, not a ton of video, but just like some random golf club videos at bandon and maybe some. No, laying up and video does not do that place justice at all. It's. It's a totally different. Like you, you can get an idea like directions, the holes go and stuff, but being there in person is just something different. It's something else, like the views that, the amount of elevation, just the small little walks from the green to the t's some of them are pretty crazy. Um, you don't get that on video. Um, I, I loved it. I wish I wouldn't have injured myself because I don't think I enjoyed some of the courses as much as I could have. Maybe, um, specifically packed dunes, I I deeply regret being in pain playing that course, cause that was a highlight of the trip for me. That course is um Matt, um matt, but, but the walk up by the ghost tree. That ghost tree is so massive, like I, I mean you, it's a tree but you get there it's like looking at the statue of liberty, it's like the craziest thing you walk around
Speaker 4and then all the different angles of the tree is just. That was surreal. For sure. That was definitely a highlight, um. But there's so many of those like when you, when you step up um number three there, you get up by the shack on number five, six, six, the view backwards towards the clubhouse, just seeing everything there. I mean it's, it's unbelievable sheep ranch views. I could go on all day about it, but, dude, it was amazing, I loved every second of it.
Speaker 2I think what's so great about abandon is it like gives you so many moments to where it's like there's a reveal and there's like a curtain pulled back and it's like welcome to old mac.
Speaker 2And it's like you get to that hole by the turn shack and you look back and it's like this is where you came from and this is where you're going. And then you get to the other hole. That's by the turn shack and it's like you've traveled all this and you've you're about to traverse this rest of it and some of it you can't see and like, oh gee, it's like you, the first time you see the ocean on four, it's like, okay, now you're going this way and like trails, you get to the hill where you cried and it was awesome, you know, and it's like throwing it in there and then sheep, it's like a walk in the park and you're along the ocean. It's like you're on the beach but you you're playing golf and it's. There's so many amazing moments out there and you just have no video, like you said, can do it justice and it's you just gotta go.
Speaker 4You have to yeah.
Speaker 1I think the videos I there's some videos that that can. I don't know. I'm not a big fan of aerials, because I like seeing the golf course from the ground, because I don't get to go up into a drone and view the golf courses. You know, you don't see it that way. When you're playing, you play it from the ground and so I like seeing those shots. It's fun seeing, seeing them. Don't get me wrong, but I can't get excited about aerials anymore because it's just it's nothing like what you see on the ground aerials anymore because it's just it's nothing like what you see on the ground. But there's some really good videos out there that really showcase some of the good holes. That gives you a eye opening, you know, to what it is.
Speaker 1I was telling jeremy, you know, on sheep ranch they have so many iconic aerial views where you can see the contours of the greens and the surroundings and the drop offs, and and then you're there and you just don't see that.
Speaker 1So it's nice knowing that it's there. But you know, if you're, if you're like nine, nine has this spectacular, you know, drop off, all, all the, the whole green drops off and goes down away from it. And you know, if you hit your ball on the green and you two putt and then you go on to the next hole, you're oblivious to that. You don't see it. So unless you're a wanderer like Joe, where you just you know, take five and disappear for 10 minutes every other hole, you miss out on some of that stuff. So that's where I think the aerials can kind of come in to help. You know that those spots are there.
Speaker 2But Dan. So hold on real quick, jeremy. So, as much as we've hyped up, banded like, did it exceed your expectations or were you let down in any way? Because I mean, it's, it's one of the, the meccas, it's like magical right. So it's like, and you said you didn't, you didn't go full in on um, digging into every video that you could possibly watch, or the aerials on the on the website, which I did before I went, and you know when you typically, when you do that, you're let down a little bit because you hype yourself up so much, and I know you were hyped, but did it let you down or did it, like, exceed your expectations? Because I think that's what Matt was trying to get at.
Speaker 4Yeah, I don't think it. I think, being there, it exceeded my expectations. Like there's one area where it sort of was like, okay, that was cool, but it didn't really exceed my expectations, and that was Preserve. I do like Preserve cool, but it didn't really exceed my expectations. And that was preserve. I I do like preserve, but I it wasn't as spectacular as I thought it was going to be maybe I think that's because we didn't play it at sunset.
Speaker 4It might be because that's most of the videos I watched and and stuff, and what you've told me in the past was preserve at sunset is the best. I mean I should have gone with you and bob that one afternoon, yeah, one evening, but yeah, I mean totally like just being there and the rooms, like the you're not even kidding about the showers, like they're the most incredible showers. The rooms are amazing, the shuttles, the service is awesome. Like it's just, it's way better than I expected, the whole experience.
Speaker 1They hit it. They hit it hard at every.
Speaker 2They do it right there, for sure, they definitely do it right.
Speaker 1Except the order takers in the main restaurant. We were so close to a Robert sighting. So, he did so well to keep it to you know, robert, from appearing well an hour to get a pizza yeah, I think robert left the table, but definitely bob came back halfway through his trip to the restaurant, probably. Yeah yeah, we were telling steven, oh here, he is here, he must, he must, he must.
Speaker 2Robert's here, he must have walked through the stones on the way to the restaurant.
Speaker 1He probably went through the stones real quick. They diverted him.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1We got a hostile customer, divert him to the stones.
Speaker 3Go through the stones.
Speaker 1Okay, we're about 30 minutes in. Let's take a quick break and handle some business.

Speaker 4That was gonna be the question oh, so this is the triple black, which one thing I didn't know is that it I mean it makes sense triple black, but it comes with the black shaft long neck, okay, yeah. So I do want the shaft out of it to put in my gamer, but I I hit a few putts with it inside and it it doesn't feel that different than mine, but I probably need to take it outside and try it out, but it's pretty good.
Speaker 1How. What's the toe hang like on it.
Speaker 4Uh, good question, I haven't even is it?
Speaker 1is it close to face balance Cause long neck should make it a lot more face.
Speaker 4Oh yeah, see if I can like six degrees maybe, yeah, it's just hardly any. So that's what I love about the old it's pretty. I'll tell you that. It is nice for sure, and I'm sure the plastic on the grip are they already going for double what you paid on ebay yeah, and I I mean it's. It's not special like the terrarium, was that. I regret selling every single day of my life, but it's it's. I think the long neck is special enough to where people might in a year maybe pay more for it.
Speaker 1Trade somebody for a trillium?
Speaker 4that's what I was thinking yeah, if you have a trillium out there, a t22, let me know. And you want a long neck?
Speaker 1oh, hey, look brian. Or this comment from brian, or the showers abandoned used to suck like needles hitting you. After multiple visits, we sat down with marketing director and told him our items and shower heads were brutal. Next visit they were all new. Wow, thank you, brian, because they are amazing.
Speaker 5Yeah they're great.
Speaker 1The best shower heads I being.
Speaker 5I love how. I love how big the shower is too. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, you know sick.
Speaker 1I just stood in that thing. You guys were playing back and I was like I was gonna go take a shower and I stood in there. I I swear I was in there for like 45 minutes, just uh it feels so good.
Speaker 2It's something about that water we need to get. We need to get brian on um one of these days, because I'd love to hear his experience at sheep ranch, because he played it for the old yeah, he played the original.
Speaker 1So one of these days and you know he played with some hickories by the way, joe, that t shot from what hole was that?
Speaker 517, where the original t box was? Yeah, yeah, that's the way to play that hole yeah, see 16 where we teed off from and then where?
Speaker 2the new tee is yeah, fuck yeah oh, it's it makes it so different and trey birdie that trey made an absolute banger of a birdie on that oh yeah, I.
Speaker 1I asked uh jeremy about this, but he he said you didn't, uh joe didn't show you the t-box where you used to hit to the par 3 green, to the 16 green from the 17th fairway no, so that was on the left side of the 17th fairway right as you're, as you walk up the t-box.
Speaker 4Yeah, there's a patch of grass that goes off to where I think he probably, he probably pointed it out, but I was focused on making it to 18.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 4I wasn't paying attention to a lot of things, but I do remember seeing it. I just didn't go over and look at it.
Speaker 1Yeah, standing there looking at that green from there, it's crazy, yeah, so all right. So we covered sheep, we covered mac, we covered preserve, all right. So for all the newbies it was almost, I think it was four for four everybody thought, well, no, I think bob was the only one that didn't think trails was the best yeah, bob loved sheep, he loved sheep ranch.
Speaker 2I was very surprised, though.
Speaker 1Very surprised because I thought he would have the same.
Speaker 2I hated it. I thought it was Robert.
Speaker 1Yeah, I thought he was going to have the same feeling about it that Colby did, because Colby didn't like it at all. Colby was like I don't like it, you can just bomb it anywhere and he goes, goes, that's just. It wasn't for me. Um bob really liked it though, but uh, trails was overwhelmingly wowed by the newbies.
Speaker 1Um jeremy give us your, give us your thoughts on trails because, like I said, for me it's my favorite course on the planet. Um, joe said it was more than likely going to change his number one after playing it again.
Speaker 4Um, I'd love to hear what you think yeah, and we we played it in the afternoon so we got the evening shadows, which I think really added to that place. Um, but trails is is my favorite course I've ever played anywhere and it's just amazing how the round progresses from you're in the dunes, you move to the meadow and then you're just in the trees and then you're kind of back through that that process. But the holes, the every hole. I was just excited to see what was next. Like with the other courses, you can see kind of what's coming up in a way on most of the courses. Trails was a little different. I felt like because you'll, you'll cut through those little uh paths in the forest, yeah, the little trails are so good oh, and then it's just something completely different, or like every hole was like a surprise.
Speaker 4Um course was in incredible shape. The greens were really really nice. Um, it was fairly windy, but once we got into the trees there was hardly anything. Um, and the walk wasn't bad, but I also had a caddy, so that probably helped. But, man, what a to kyle uh yeah, he's a great caddy he's.
Speaker 1He's a big podcast listener and said he would tune in, so he was amazing, he, he nailed every read. I mean every read. And I said you know I put a post up that I know why I suck so bad at putting abandoned is because I can't read the greens, for shit he was a golfer's golfer man.
Speaker 2Yeah, ruined through well dude was a stick he knew
Speaker 1his shit for sure, yeah and uh, um, I mean, nailed every, every putt, every putt. He had a perfect read and the only time I didn't hit a good putt it was on me, not because of his read. So, um, kudos to him. Uh, big big aussie. So if, uh, you want a really good, knowledgeable caddy, abandon kyle the big aussie. Big, huge, beautiful man. Beard on that guy. Yeah, um, okay, so trail and dan trail still your favorite?
Speaker 2oh no, doubt no doubt all right, joe, no doubt did it surpass it's really, it's really hard for me because the course I look forward to playing the most is trails, but like I really really appreciate the architecture and what doke did on pack dunes, um, so I think I think there's two different ones. It's like if I was to go out there and play the courses I wanted to play, trails would probably be first, but I appreciate pack dunes and what doke did out there so much. It's like it's hard, you know they're. They're kind of a battle for first. Um, but if I was, if I was given one round out there, oh it would it probably be trails, because I've played pack dunes twice now and the second time I was walking sideways because my knee, uh, so I probably give it to trails currently, but they are. They are two.
Speaker 1Both of them are incredible golf courses and you didn't play it when you guys went in march no, we didn't play pack, oh, wow, um, yeah.
Speaker 2So brian or says old mac here, and, and for me that's if, if I was given three rounds out there, it would be trails, pack and mac. Um, yeah, that's it. That's it for me. Yeah, I did, I did, I did like sheep a little more this time um, I don't know what it was, but I did like sheep a little bit more. And, og, like I've played it more than any of them, I still love 16 and I love four and I love five, but uh, yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2You know, it's always, it's constantly changing. Every time you go out there you get a different experience every time. But trails, pack, mac, those are the three you can't skip, like you got to play them. And the more you play old mac, the better it gets. And that's the thing like a lot of people hate on old mac when they get out there. It doesn't have the views, but it has the architecture and it has the history and there's a lot to it and you just have to play it a few more times and and you'll learn to appreciate it.
Speaker 1It's such a hard course that is so much fun to play.
Speaker 2Yeah, it, yeah. It takes a while to understand what old Mac is, and the more you play it, the more you'll get it.
Speaker 1Man, we got it on an overcast kind of day. I mean, I was constantly wiping the rain dots off my glasses, little breezy. But man, it was crazy because like the sun would kind of peek through the clouds and like, okay, take the hoodie off, and then you play two holes and like oh, we got to put the hoodie back on. Oh, play two holes, okay, take the hoodie off. It was like you'd sweat and then you were cold and you'd sweat and then you were cold. But a fun walk, great first round.
Speaker 2It's a, it's one of those moments where you'll never forget, right. So it's like you crest the hill of the Ghost Tree Hill and it's just like it is the welcome to Disneyland moment. It is like you're here, you've waited forever and I I'm very happy that we played that first, because it's a, it's nostalgic, right Like that'll be cemented in your brain forever. You know, and and sheep, sheep ranch gives you that on one, but then it kind of like falls off because you can see everything and, um, yeah, everything and um, yeah, I mean yeah, totally.
Speaker 1But like, do you got your photo handy, is it close? Oh yeah actually it is. Hang on, give me a second. This is. This is a cool thing that that a lot of golf courses could take note. Yeah, so if you get a whole yeah, not all of them have the budget that bandon does, but uh, if, if you work at a golf course, uh, take note yeah, if you get a hole in one on any hole at bandon, they give you a a frame picture of that hole yeah, so and they're ready to go too.
Speaker 2They gave it to him right away.
Speaker 1That's cool. On the back to put the scorecard.
Speaker 2Scorecard on the back Dan had the 130th hole in one on Sheep Ranch.
Speaker 5Pin was right there where my little light is, but no, it's cool.
Speaker 4Yeah, that was awesome. Yeah, yeah. So I have a, I have a bit of a hot take. Do it. Yeah, let's hear it. So, and this might, this might be due to factors.
Speaker 2This is gonna make joe cry no okay so it's gonna make me yell at you maybe so.
Speaker 4One thing I've heard from a lot of people is that number one at sheep ranch is one of the best starting holes in ever. I didn't feel that way, and it might be partly because I hit my drive 90 degrees off. Oh, yeah, you hit the tree you hit one of the trees my vision was still blurred and it was yeah, anyway, I hit the, I hit a, I hit the flag on the practice screen right of the t-box.
Speaker 4But well, yeah, I don't think I didn't feel like it was something that special to me. I mean, it's cool, like, of course, when you get over the hill, the view and it's downhill to the green. But okay.
Speaker 2So if you're going to make that statement, what is the best opening hole in golf?
Speaker 4Like ever in golf or abandoned Anywhere. I don't know, I just didn't feel like it was any more special than a lot of holes that I could think of. I'll get back to you on that.
Speaker 2Like one at Wild Horse.
Speaker 1One of my favorites.
Speaker 4It's pretty nice.
Speaker 2It is a great hole. I think what makes it special Is there's no other Opening hole in golf when it's framed by trees. And then it puts you into the ocean Automatically. I think that's why people think there's no other hole when you just go into the ocean automatically, and I think that's why people think like there's no other hole where you just go into the ocean off the bat.
Speaker 1True, I think one of my favorite dance questioning that one of my favorite tobacco road.
Speaker 1One is really good, brian, or yeah, that is a good one one of my favorite opening holes in golf is at a course that I don't like and that's wolf creek. I think the first hole of wolf creek is really really good, um, and then it all goes downhill from there, but, um, yeah, I'm trying to think of other shots that. I mean it's, it's a really I think it's a really good opening hole because you have everything. So, just right there you got to the left of it, you got the whole course, you can see everything. And it's kind of this mystery to what you're going to get, you know, because you can't see the ocean. It kind of drops off.
Speaker 1You got trees left and right. You got this shoot that you got it's a par five and you get up there and you hit your shot. And as you're walking to it, if you hit a good shot unlike myself and Jeremy you get to walk over the hill and you look down and then it's just like there's the ocean and here's this whole green, you and you got the dead trees on 17 there and it's just it's kind of a, you know, surreal moment because they're like Joe said, there isn't a lot of shots in golf like that for an opening hole. In my opinion, the course goes all downhill from there yeah, yeah, and that's what I think, I think.
Speaker 2I think I think sheep ranch shows its its face a little too early and that might be why the first hole is so good, because it's like you're here, like welcome, and it's it's I mean, if you watch the no laying up videos, it's the welcome to jurassic park moment and it's like it just reveals itself to you right off the bat and there's no suspense or mystery beyond that.
Speaker 2And that's why, like on number three, you don't want to go long because you're going to lose some of the excitement that you're going to get on 16.
Speaker 2So it's like and that's what I did first time I played it, I went long on number three and then I saw that that little peak of the coastline too early, and I think that's might be one of the reasons why it's not one of my favorites is because it just it gives you too much too early and it's like you want, you want to build, you want the crescendo, you want the, the, the, the final act, to be the, the boom moment, and it, the boom moment, comes way too early for you. But that's why people love sheep so much is because it gives you those hit after hit. And if you don't, if you don't look at the story like I do, then people just see the. You know the drama concurrently and over and over and over again. But I saw it too early and that's why I think it's, I think it's one of my um, I think it's why it's on the bottom of the totem for me.
Speaker 1I just, I think it's one of my um, I think it's why it's on the bottom of the totem. For me it's just. I think it just pales in comparison to the other four yeah, I mean it's.
Speaker 2It's still a great golf course and what they did out there to fit that golf course on that land is is special, um, and the story behind it. You know. Kaiser bought the land and if we can't make work then we'll turn it into a sheep ranch and that's why it's called Sheep Ranch, and the original 13 greens that Tom Doak built and the original tee boxes. There's so much history out there which makes it so special. But I just think it doesn't give you the excitement that the others do, because it shows you peaks here and there, like oh, that's the ocean, but on sheep ranch it's like that is the ocean, you know, and the volcano hole is volcano hole might be the greatest hole out there on sheet, like for real, you know, um, and there's no ocean next to the volcano hole.
Speaker 1So Chapman's chiming in the judge at Capitol Hill. The R2D trail in Alabama has a great opening hole. The first hole at Ross Bridge is solid, also don't know. We didn't get to play because somebody poisoned the greens yeah, so yeah, yeah, I, I yeah.
Speaker 2I mean the the first hole at sheep feels like an 18th hole kind of you know, and I think, that's why I think that's why it's considered one of the the best opening holes. But I know there's many first holes out there. I haven't played so but I think Brian Orr with Tobacco Road number one is a really good contender on that.
Speaker 1That's a good one. Kapalua one is pretty good too because you're kind of hitting towards the ocean. It's a pretty elevated view. It's kind of a weird hole, but I mean it's not epic by any means, but a cool view with the ocean.
Speaker 2Man, it's hard not to be romantic about golf all right?
Speaker 1well then, let's not get romantic. Let's, let's. Let's get this out there about the t-shirt bullshit, because uh, joe posted a video of me and him. We're having some fun. Uh, doing a little ctp action on the, uh, the fifth hole at, uh, old mac little par three crazy green. And uh, I was in a t-shirt because I had, I had my hoodie on and it got warm so I took it off. I had t-shirt on.
Debating Dress Code in Golf
Speaker 1Now I have 50, 100 polos in my closet. Every time I play golf, I wear a polo. Um, bandon is a little bit different, a little bit more relaxed, a little bit more laid back. I am not somebody that, like, does things to piss people off. I'm not. I'm not a rebel rouser. I'm not somebody that says, oh, I'm gonna play loud music just to piss people off. I'm not a rebel rouser. I'm not somebody that says, oh, I'm going to play loud music just to piss people off. I have respect for the game. I have respect for other people. Had anybody in the group with us bust, and said what the fuck are you doing wearing a t-shirt? Okay, let me throw my goal body back on.
Speaker 1But that's not what it was about. That's not where we were. We were having a good time and you know, like Joe said me and him and our conversations back and forth about this it's one thing, out there wearing a sleeveless Budweiser t-shirt hacking up the golf course, that's not what we were doing. We're out there playing the game and, uh, we both agree, I think it's more damaging for people playing five and a half hour rounds of golf, um, dressed to the nines, looking like a tour pro, than somebody playing in four hours as an eight-some in a t-shirt. So, um, I I have respect for the game, I have respect for the history.
Speaker 1Uh, I am not somebody who tucks my shirt in. I probably should, because I do look a little slobby, because I'm fat and short and extra larges are what fit me and they're a little long, so probably should be tucking in my shirt more than I do. Um, I don't have a problem tucking in my shirt. I just like to be comfortable, um, and I think abandoned it's the ultimate place to be comfortable and, uh, I don't think anybody has any issues with it, except for a few people. So, um, that being said, uh, if you ever wear a t-shirt in a vgn event, I will kick you off the fucking tour and I'm sorry um you know, we, we, we don't.
Speaker 1it's very rare occasions where you're gonna find me in a t-shirt on a golf course walking 72 holes abandoned at the solstice. Goddamn right, I'm gonna be wearing a fucking t-shirt. Um, I've done it in polos, I've done it in a t-shirt, so it it's not a big deal to me Playing here in Vegas on the golf courses, out with people. Yeah, I wear a polo. I, you know, I, I, I like wearing golf polos, especially good ones. Sunday swagger makes them really damn good golf polos and I have no problem wearing them. It wasn't a disrespect thing, so okay.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Fire away Joe.
Speaker 2Yeah, I mean I, I mean obviously, uh, respect thing. So, okay, yeah, fire away joe. Yeah, I mean I, I mean obviously, uh, I get where people are coming from and and miles messaged me about this and uh, he said, he said he would have a hard time, like wearing a t-shirt on pack dunes, which I totally get right, um, but you know, for me it's like if I'm wearing a t-shirt and the course is okay with me wearing a t-shirt and they don't say anything, I feel more comfortable on t-shirt. If they told me that I gotta wear a fucking suit on the golf course to play back dunes, I'll put a suit on. You know, there's.
Speaker 2There's no disrespect, there's not going to be any pushback. If I got to wear a three-piece suit to play back dunes, I'll put it on. But there are appropriate moments to where you can wear a t-shirt. In my opinion. That is North Las Vegas, part 3, all day. And if you're wearing a tucked-in polo at North Las Vegas, part 3, there, and if you're wearing a tucked in polo at North Las Vegas, part three, there's probably something wrong with you.
Speaker 1Yes, Get the fuck out. Your GPS took you to the wrong golf course Exactly.
Speaker 2So there are moments where it is appropriate and I think, when the vibe fits, the moment, you get to vibe with the moment and and a t-shirt brings a relaxed vibe, totally 100, because people are free, feel freer. I had, I had multiple comments where, like, I wore a t-shirt at desert willow, shout out my homie louie. I wore a t-shirt and I was apologizing at desert willow like sorry, sorry because I was on the range practicing but I felt so free that I played better. You know, and it's you know, not no disrespect to the past of the game, but there are brands out there that are changing the, the gear of the times. You know it's, it's different. Now we're in 2024 and back in the seventies people used to wear suits to get on a plane and now everyone's in Lululemon and fucking welcome to Las Vegas, hoodies cloud shirt shoes.
Speaker 2Exactly, and that that could be a sign of America's gotten lazy or America's got more comfortable, or however you want to see it. It could be something bigger. It could be a sign of America's gotten lazy or America's got more comfortable, or however you want to see it. It could be something bigger, it could be something less, but if I'm allowed to wear a T-shirt, I feel more comfortable on T-shirt and if I'm allowed to do it, I'm going to wear it. Dan, you're not. What do you think? I'm not showing up? I'm not showing up. I'm going to put this out there. I'm going to put this out there. I'm not showing up as a guest to a private course in a t-shirt. I'm tucking it in Total respect to you. But I'll show up to Goat Hill in a t-shirt because I know it's allowed, because the vibe is chill.
Speaker 1But if you need me in a three-piece suit at your private club and you want to invite me, I'll wear a suit.
Speaker 5I don't know if you can top that, dan. I mean I agree 100 with joe. I mean I live in t-shirts, I'm always in a t-shirt I would much rather wear a t-shirt on a golf course than a polo, but I don't, because I've been playing golf for 35 years and only until recently has t-shirts been ever even considered. Before it was always slacks polo shirt, slacks polo shirt, you know, shorts, whatever.
Speaker 2Hey, definitely no denim, though no denim.
Speaker 5Don't wear denim.
Speaker 2That's the huge no-no.
Speaker 5Yeah, that's one rule that we can keep forever for every golf course wear denim. That's the, that's the huge. No, no. Yeah, that's that's one rule that we can keep forever for every golf course. Yeah, no denim. But yeah, I, I would much rather be in a t-shirt than in a polo shirt. I'm. I agree with everything that Joe said. If I'm going to a private course, I'm with somebody's guest. Yes, I'm tucking that shit in because that's just what you do. That's what you do.
Speaker 5But, yeah, courses like Goat Hill, abandoned par three courses, stuff like that. Yeah, I'm wearing a fucking T-shirt, I'm wearing a fucking T-shirt. And another thing is to me is like, besides that, who gives a fuck? I mean, what does a little flap of fabric have to do with fucking anything? I mean, yeah, yeah, I could beat your ass in a polo, I could beat your ass in a t-shirt. Well, it doesn't matter whatever.
Speaker 3However, you want it you can get it.
Speaker 5But uh, but seriously though, that like just that little collar, like, if it's, if people get in a, get their panties in a bunch over, just a little flap like that like a couple buttons to couple buttons oh yeah, I mean, there's so much bigger concerns in the world and if you're going to get mad at me and think I'm disrespectful because I'm wearing a t-shirt instead of a polo shirt.
Speaker 1We should make just a collar and buttons.
Speaker 5Yeah you totally could. I'm going to wear a t-shirt with a collar and buttons over it Collar and buttons.
Speaker 2You throw that out on the first tee and then you take it off on the second that's it.
Speaker 5That's perfect. Use those buttons to mark your ball and shit like the snap on ties clip on ties.
Speaker 1You get a clip on collar yeah, let's fucking do that collared metallica t-shirt for real.
Speaker 5Yeah, I mean I'm glad a lot of these rules are getting looser and almost every single major company like peril brand company has t-shirts now like foot joy makes t-shirts like everybody makes t-shirts. Malbons make t-shirts, odinus makes golf t-shirts they all make they're in the pro shops at every place they want you wearing the t-shirts out. I understand, but if you have a golf themed t-shirt or something that is appropriate for the golf course, cool, like you said, you know the budweiser the.
Speaker 1I was wearing a PJ West t-shirt. It's not like I was wearing my mom.
Speaker 5All.
Speaker 1I got was his t-shirt.
Speaker 5Yeah, exactly, you know, you know.
Speaker 2I wrote desk, I wrote desperado at state line.
Speaker 5Exactly, exactly.
Speaker 1And got this Exactly.
Speaker 5So, yeah, I'm pro t-shirts, let's go, let's go. T-shirts all the way.
Speaker 1Love it, love it, all right, so we can squash that.
Speaker 2Hey and way more disrespectful is slow play and not fixing your ball marks on the greens 100%. The greens are the heart of the golf course. Fix your fucking ball marks and if you don't fix two or three for every one of yours, then you're disrespectful did.
Speaker 1It was great we were playing bar run because there was eight of us fixing pitch marks all over the place. They had more they were they had more pitch perks repaired on that day from our group than they've had in a month yeah, and six of us weren't wearing fucking t-shirts yeah, uh, that was, and, like I said, a ball played in four hours, so it can be done yeah, shut up our run.
Speaker 1That was a cool little facility, man, yeah that was fun, okay, uh, so in, in not golf trip life um. The uh pga tour wrapped up its final season or not final season, its regular season finale at the Wyndham Two Gloves, aaron Rye got himself a W. How about the Kutcher move, did you guys?
Speaker 2hear about that yeah yeah, fucking, mad doucher.
Speaker 1Oh, what I mean.
Speaker 4That's stupid. Did he actually hit into the group? He hit into them. What I mean? That's stupid.
Speaker 2Did he actually hit into the?
Speaker 4group.
Speaker 2He hit into them, right he says he didn't know because they were over the ridge and he wasn't told. But I don't know, man, I don't know.
Speaker 4I don't know how to feel about it.
Speaker 2I think it's a nothing burger.
Golf Trip Reflections and Experiences
Speaker 1Hey, thanks for hanging. Brian, appreciate it. I would have loved to see one of the guys go. Hey, cooch, thanks. I'm missing my kids first day of school because of you yeah, but that's that's.
Speaker 2My thing is he didn't. He didn't really impact the outcome and he didn't impact the. He didn't impact really much at all really.
Speaker 1It was just his paycheck. Yeah, yeah I mean he was out of the FedEx Cup. Somebody was diving into it Like had he made birdie. He may have knocked somebody out.
Speaker 2It was like 50 grand or something.
Speaker 1It was 100 grand For him. Yeah, it was 100 grand. I mean that's a lot of money, but does Matt Kuchar need 100 grand? I mean that's a lot of money, but does Matt Kuchar need a hundred grand?
Speaker 2I mean he does, but he could have just walked off on 13 and just call it quits. I mean, at least he stuck around and stayed out there.
Speaker 5Yeah, I lost all respect for that dude this tournament.
Speaker 1Yeah, he kind of Matthew Kuchinyat, kuchinyat, he kind of has. Oh my god, how about that lady at the comfort inn?
Speaker 3Wow, wait, wait, wait.
Speaker 1I had laughed that hard. Oh my God, she I mean she added like five. My last name has a lot of syllables.
Speaker 5Yeah, she added like five.
Speaker 1Hell yeah, and and was proud was proud and you guys were laughing so hard and she thought she nailed it.
Speaker 2And I, I man, I wish we could go back.
Speaker 1I wish we could go back I would have loved to get that on tape, holy didn't she fuck up somebody else's name too? I don't know who else she could have done. Everybody else was west martin keith. It's not like, didn't she?
Speaker 5call me like hojas or something like that I think so, dan Ho she called you Dan Ho, dan Hojas Hojas.
Speaker 1We did have the whitest names ever with Jackson Martin, keith Sanders.
Speaker 2West.
Speaker 1She saw my name and went oh.
Speaker 5This guy's.
Speaker 2Filipino Wagon Ratchet.
Speaker 5Wong and Raggin Chitten Hyman my name and went oh, this guy's Filipino Wagon.
Speaker 1Ratchet Wong and Raggin Chitten Hyman.
Speaker 5Matthew Wagon Ratchet.
Speaker 2I thought she nailed it. Man, I thought she nailed it.
Speaker 1She nailed it the FedExCup playoffs start this week. Is this one the?
Speaker 4BMW this week. I think it's BMW.
Speaker 1It's the one in memphis, I think it's the memphis one, and then the bmw is in colorado, right, well saint jude or something.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's what it is for the kids, for the kids.
Speaker 1Um, so top 70 made it this year. Um, oh, I've got the standings for the cdp versus the world. Um, I've kind of fallen off, fallen off the table here. Um, I missed a week and then last week I only had one guy make the cut out of all of my picks so I could show a mad in there. Yeah, we're there. We're a little bit behind. We were, we were up there for a while, but uh, it pretty much stops right there because nobody's done it in a while.
Speaker 5So I haven't done it in months, yeah, so hey, you could, you could move up a couple spots, if you, if you participate in these, at least about last.
Speaker 1Yeah, jeremy's not jeremy's not last either shit I think I think next year we may have to have an entry fee for this to keep everybody yeah yeah we'll work out on that. Uh, oh yeah, he's in him out. Uh, let's see. Uh, the euro, the euro. Uh, team rider cup said no to live golf points. Um will not.
Speaker 4Oh, meatloaf, well I had meatloaf three times there, Jeremy. Yeah, I was going to say Jeremy had it three times. It was incredible.
Speaker 2Each time. It was so good, I want more.
Speaker 1Three times. We had a plethora of foodies on this trip. We had some good experiences, we had some bad experiences. Um had some great experiences. Uh, that hey, the biscuits and gravy from band and coffee was amazing yep wow that was a good call going there, joe, that was fantastic. Um, the mocha was probably the best one I had there too. Something about seattle area and southwest they don't do mocha's very good. But the pizza from the main place at Bannon the lodge amazing Chicken parm sandwiches didn't get greatest reviews.
Speaker 2A little too crunchy, I think.
Speaker 1Steven had the pulled pork sandwich at Charlotte's at the practice facility said it was, yeah, just absolutely fantastic. No mark. Mark wants to know, jeremy, what exceeded expectations. More the golf of the meatloaf the meatloaf was spectacular there was a loaf argument the first night we were there. Do you remember that, or were you? Guys too hammered to remember that.
Speaker 2I do not remember at all, oh yeah.
Speaker 1A guy in his group. Some guy was saying the meatloaf is the best thing and this one guy goes it's meat and a loaf. What else is a fucking loaf? What is a?
Speaker 3loaf. He just kept on saying that.
Speaker 2Because there's no good loaves.
Speaker 4And I go lemon loaf, and he goes. Okay, there's one other good thing. I don't remember that either.
Speaker 5Oh, yeah, I think they might have been out playing the night golf when that happened, matt. Oh, okay, that makes sense yeah because that was me and you and a couple guys around the fire.
Speaker 1Yeah, oh, that was hilarious. And then I don't know, it was me and colby. I think we're coming back to the room one night and, uh, we had this guy in the in the shuttle that was getting dropped off oh dude was tossed wine drunk wine drunk like guys fucking teeth were stained.
Speaker 5He was so fucking drunk off. Look like a fucking joker yeah, that was.
Speaker 2That was funny this there was a guy that asked me like four times for a zen. I'm like I don't have any. He asked me four different times like you have a zen, I don't got no let me get a zen from you it's like I know somebody that has his in, but I don't see him so you can find jeremy's golf bag.
Speaker 4He's got 12 cases one one thing that surprised me about vanden was there was a lot of uh like fancy golfers there with like foot joy premiere. Like the cap toe peter millar polos. It was surprising. I thought it was gonna be more chill, but there was a lot of those guys with like and their bag. The logos on the bags are.
Speaker 1That's impressive yeah, yeah, there's some amazing ones.
Speaker 5There's a lot of money floating around bandit yeah, joe was making friends with the monterey peninsula country club crowd out there yeah I was, man, I was.
Speaker 2Yeah, these guys are something about steven alba.
Speaker 5I was like get it. Joe Get it, joe yeah he did ask me.
Speaker 2He's like do you want to take it worldwide? I was like sure, I know you're drunk and I know this won't go anywhere.
Speaker 1They sponsor the podcast.
Speaker 2I'm trying to get this in Sports Authority.
Speaker 1You can do that. You just got to break down the the glass be the only thing in there no man, it's.
Speaker 2I will say that I think the greatest lunch hack at bandon is the pokeball trails in. That thing hits so hard, not filling, uh, or it is filling, it's light, it's refreshing, it is. It's the ultimate lunch hack. Abandoned is the poke bowl.
Speaker 4It trails in I before golf is fantastic yeah I, I would eat that every day I had the pizza a couple times.
Speaker 1I had the meatloaf. One time I had a burger at Pac Dunes. That was way too much burger. It just soaked the bun. The bun just disappeared. That wasn't the greatest.
Speaker 5My favorite meal was the Old Fashions. Those were good.
Speaker 4Those were very nice.
Speaker 2They hit a little bit better out there.
Speaker 1Jeremy liked the old fashions at the Eugene Airport. Yes, I did.
Speaker 4I thought they were shots. That was the problem.
Speaker 2I will never forget Jeremy playing night golf at Band and OG he was just like.
Speaker 1I think Jeremy forgot.
Speaker 2Are we having fun? Let's have fun.
Speaker 4That was like an out-of-body experience. The whole time I felt like I was following my body around the golf course. It took me until the last hole to realize who we were with. I knew Joe was there, but I had no idea who else was there.
Speaker 2I was just hitting.
Speaker 5I kept asking Before you guys went out there, joe, I think you were running around. Jeremy comes up to me. He goes do you want another beer? He goes. I've already had like four of them. He goes I'm getting hammered. He goes I'm getting hammered.
Speaker 3Do you want another beer?
Speaker 5I was like, yeah, let's get another beer, Jay. And then he goes, and then he orders a burger, right, and he walks out to the first dude to watch you guys, and then he's like, are you going to play? And he goes yeah, I'm in.
Speaker 3He's like how am I going to play?
Speaker 5Dude, I carried that burger around for like.
Speaker 4I carried that burger around for three.
Speaker 1I couldn't find it, that's right.
Speaker 5All I want to do is eat my burger.
Speaker 4I was I was almost positive I broke Stephen's driver when I hit it A couple times.
Speaker 1I'm pretty sure. As we're walking over there, he said to me he goes. I don't want to do this. And then we're standing there and he's like I'm in, he's like okay I hit jp's two iron.
Speaker 4I think off the first tee which felt like seriously. It felt longer than a driver it was that was an experience I was hitting everything four inches behind the ball.
Speaker 2I could not see shit dude, I couldn't see anything. I couldn't see anything. It was so fucking dark, dude so dark.
Speaker 4I thought my eyes were closed a few times. It was like I'm looking at the ball and I'm like there's nothing there and I just swing and I don't hit a damn thing.
Speaker 1Wow, so much fun, all right so, uh, we're kind of done with bannon for a while um I'm sure some of you have been relieved about that.
Speaker 1I'm already planning the next trip um, more, more trips in the future are coming. Uh, we had a blast with eight of us it was. It was a great group of guys. I wouldn't have rather done it with anybody else. It was so much fun. Looking forward to the next one. But real golf stories coming back now. We got some VGN Tour events coming up FedEx Cup playoffs, the President's Cup, the US Amateur is taking place right now. Uh, there's some local guys in that. Uh, you, at mid-am qualifying is going on. There's all kinds of stuff going on. So, um, lots to be talking about. Uh, more than just bandon.
Speaker 1So, um, yeah look forward to more of that so joe. Uh, why don't you send everybody off in a lovely manner and let's get out of here?
