What is up everybody? Welcome to another episode of the Chasing Daylight podcast. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a champion amongst us. The sole golfer had enough of getting called out about not caring about golf and actually showed up and played some. Actually, you played some really damn good golf, joe. Yeah, it's been a while, so so what? What the hell? Hey, hold on, we'll get into it in a second. Uh, thanks everybody so much for tuning in to the show. You know we got to run down all the stuff that we do every week. Uh, thanks everybody so much for tuning in to the show. You know we've got to run down all the stuff that we do every week. Big shout-out to Roars Golf, one of our show sponsors Also want to show some love to the Golf Stop, the indoor track band facility on St Rose Parkway out here in West Henderson.
Speaker 1:Go check them out if you have not. They've got a league starting. I don't know if it started already, but check them out. Great spot, there's a new Buzz coffee that just opened up next door. Have you been there yet anybody?
Speaker 2:No, but I want to go. Yeah, I got to go.
Speaker 1:I may go check that out tomorrow. I got to go by Julian's house so I may run by there and pick up your curds man Come pick up your curds. Oh, speaking of curds, I got something about curds. So also thank you, Scott Russo, for letting us to continue to use Harmonic as the intro. So here, this is what I was going to say. This was from last week. I haven't clipped this yet, but I need to.
Speaker 2:I'm going to need some cheese curds. Send me some cheese curds and I'll quit it.
Speaker 1:Right there.
Speaker 2:Did you?
Speaker 1:hear that Send me some cheese curds and I'll quit it. There's the curds All the way from Wisconsin.
Speaker 2:So, Joe is not allowed to vape anymore. The person that he sent it to shout out Beautiful Golf Courses said Joe needs to vape less To Joe needs to vape less. So I'm going to try. I'm working on it, Mike. Sorry, but these cheese curds are great, Straight from Wisconsin. Squeaky, squeaky little curds. They're great.
Speaker 1:All right, no more vaping. And fix your Internet, because what the hell? You sound like you're calling in from the moon.
Speaker 2:I asked before we even started. I said how do I sound? You said great, what the?
Speaker 1:hell, you sounded great. Your video looks like shit though.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I don't know, it happens it happens?
Speaker 1:We'll see. We'll see if it figures itself out. So, joe, big winner gets some curds, goes out. And what did you shoot? 74?
Speaker 2:74. Uh gets some curds goes out and and what did you? Shoot 74 74, two over, yeah, two over.
Speaker 1:I I, I was playing, I was playing pretty good. Uh, I had I was two over through 10 and I'm like, let's check the scores and see what's going on. You know, let's see where I'm at and uh, I look and I'm the fucking joe's like four under. I'm like and see what's going on. You know, let's see where I'm at and uh, I look at him, the fucking Joe's like four under. I'm like what the hell is going on now.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he, he, yeah, he has been bagging his, his scores lately. So you know the handicap is getting up there and you know he, he, he was getting what six I was getting two.
Speaker 2:I mean I wouldn't have beat him straight up, so it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1:But I also haven't shot in the 70s since, oh, it's been a while, it's been a long time.
Speaker 2:I mean, I don't think I was sandbagging, I mean like that round just came out of nowhere. I know, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 1:I. There wasn't anybody happier for you than me on on Saturday because it was, it was awesome.
Speaker 2:I think there was a lot of people that were very happy for me.
Speaker 1:honestly, yeah, but none of them were as happy as I was. Oh, okay, that's what I'm trying to say.
Speaker 2:Next Monday night we're going to host a. Who is happiest for Joe the most? So if you want to show up, we'll have a microphone there. No, I'm kidding, I mean Drop hung around to you know.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he waited.
Speaker 2:You know all the love on the VGN post was awesome. It's been a long time and, yeah, for me. So when I play like I have to play pretty damn perfect to win and that's the thing it doesn't happen very often. But I played close to perfect on Saturday and it was cool. Some swing changes or some swing thoughts have helped. The driver was fantastic, irons were great. I had at least four birdies that I missed by an inch or two maybe, so it could even. It could have even been better really, um, but yeah, it was. It was really cool to do.
Speaker 2:I got really tense for me at the end like um, for me at the end like, um, 15, 6, no, 14, 15 I think it was. Uh, I had, I got up and down. Well, actually, I made a bogey. I was super short on the long par three, so, uh, it was a little nerve-wracking. Yeah, I felt that in a long time. So, um, but I, I par par parred on the way in, so that was, uh, it was cool to do. I haven't done that in a long time, especially under pressure Three pars coming in the par-five with the water.
Speaker 4:I played right the entire time.
Speaker 1:That's the only chance Vic had.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I hit it to the right, I sliced it a the right, I, I, I sliced it a little bit and cut it, overcut it and then I laid up to like 110 yards, hit it into the hill and I got a like a flat lie there. And then I hit it super in the front of the green. The green, the flag was towards the back left and I hit a really good putt. It almost went in. That was almost a birdie, but tap in like six-incher and I knew then at that point it was mine, because the worst you can do is triple bogey and I was ahead by four. So full pressure relieved after 17. It was cool. Full pressure relieved after 17. It was cool. What Taylor told me was anybody that rides with him. They have won recently.
Speaker 1:Oh really.
Speaker 2:He said that's his thing.
Speaker 2:Well, he's not playing in the finals. So somebody's asked out yeah, but it was cool man I was, I was, I think it was for me like really low expectations because I hadn't played in a while and I just like let it go, like I was just really trying to enjoy the day and just be out there getting a break and, um, it started off really good. Like after I think five or six I was cart girl came around. I was like, yeah, this is going too well. I need, I need some drinks.
Speaker 2:I had a couple and uh, it's going too well yeah, because I mean that's a, that's a thing, right, like I hadn't played in a long time. So it was weird. You know, I hadn't played that good in a long time and uh, it made me feel a little uncomfortable playing that well.
Speaker 1:So so what you said, swing thought changes. Uh, what was that?
Speaker 2:um, it's more of a like at the top, kind of just dropping it behind me and then, through impact, just keeping my head down and like looking at the ball Because I tend to watch my club head more than the ball and it's just a drop it behind me and like, look at the ball and then go, you know, and I think that might be relieving the tension of like holding it off because I'm like, oh, you know, that's all it is really. I mean, I don't know how to explain it or explain the feeling, but that's, that's what it is in my head.
Speaker 2:Hey, ride that wave man, Ride that wave I mean well when we played Coyote last with Jeremy Trey and the other Jeremy. I found that out on like 9 or 10. And I was following my driver that time too, like I was close to Trey. So I'm just trying to remember that. But yeah, that's it and kind of led it to my irons this this past weekend instead of just the driver off the tee.
Speaker 1:So it worked out. Yeah, I chipped in on two for birdie and uh, I was like all right, good, good, you know.
Speaker 2:And then three and 14 are the only two holes that I popped on, so I'm like okay, okay let's just, I did see you, birdie number two, and I was very happy to take that skin away from you.
Speaker 1:Yeah, thanks, asshole, because nobody else did it in the net division. So gross skins and net skins, you cost me money. Thanks, appreciate that. I was happy for you and everything, of course. Yeah, joe, what did you think? Because I've been out there, you know that was the third time I've been out there this month and I've seen it go from crazy shit to you know really good, but I'm curious your thoughts.
Speaker 2:I think that's also one of those things. It's like, uh, legacy I'm very comfortable with, like I've played very well at legacy throughout my past golf rounds and um very familiar with the course, familiar with the layout, and um there were some rough patches, for sure. The greens were furry and pretty slow, so you had to hammer it. Even if it was like a downhill putt, like it wasn't, you couldn't tap it, it wasn't gonna go anywhere.
Speaker 1:So you should have seen it the weekend before, because, oh, it was brutal, you would I mean they were. They were fast compared to what they have been the past week and a half there you say. You know they were furry and slow, it's like, not compared to what they were a week ago. So but it's, it's getting better. I think it's getting better. I think it's in pretty good shape.
Speaker 2:They're making some improvements all around the place and well, it's one of those things, right, when people tell you it's a great layout, you know like you, automatically a lot of people automatically think, oh, it's a shit course, but legacy has a fantastic layout. Um, they're trying, you know, it's, it's a great, it really is a great layout, it's a very fun course and, uh, I just wish I wish they could get those cut those greens down a little little tighter, you know they will be.
Speaker 1:They will be. They just they just couldn't do it right now. It's just, it's it's been too hot. And they I mean uh, josh, uh or trey, told me that you know, saturday morning was the height they cut, it was the lowest that they have cut it so far. So they, they put it the lowest that they could for us. I mean, it wasn't for us, but they, you know, just so happened to be on the day that we were out there was the lowest that they've been able to cut it. So, um, but I, I think some of the like, the downhill putts were much faster than they were. The uphill putts weren't as slow, even though they were slow.
Speaker 2:But yeah, like I think it was good. I think it was good. I mean nothing really to complain about. I mean a lot of people when they get to play golf you know they want, they want Augusta, but that's just not reality. It really is not reality. So a lot of people don't take that to heart or mind and not every golf course is Augusta or whatever your top of the line is.
Speaker 1:Hey, Hedgerag wants to know if Alfredo gave you some swing tips and that's why you won.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he texted. He was texting me all week, and it was you know I had to ship them out. I went on Amazon, sent him some honey buns and you know he took care of me.
Speaker 4:So I thought your hands would be sore yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, they're just going to be you know, it's funny man.
Speaker 2:It's funny man. Like you know, I, I, I have so much time on my hands to be a male masseuse. You know, with two kids and my wife working and I'm working, and you know I have so much time on my hands, I have a side job of a male masseuse. So, uh, it's, it's funny how I have time to play golf and win golf tournaments. So it's, you know, it's, it's, it's a luxurious life. What can I say?
Speaker 1:So with Joe's win it got him into the finals. It bumped Doug out and got Joe into the finals. And then Sunday, dan and I were walking around Shriners we see Doug and so I had to tell him Joe bumped you out of the finals. But then I got to tell him also that, uh, you know, nick can't make it and so he's in, you know, on as the first alternate, and so he's pretty happy about that.
Speaker 2:Well, that's the thing going into that too. I like I knew I had to win to get into the final, like there was no chance otherwise right. So I didn't want to get home, but I didn't even think about this at all that day. I literally did not. I, I, I beforehand I was like I want to be sitting at home and watching everyone else play, like, and I'm not playing with everyone. So it's cool, you know, the the money's fantastic I got, I got the rental car for Baltimore, but I, I really didn't want to be sitting at home when the VGM finals were going on, not playing with you guys. So that that's, that's the big win for me. You know, I get to play in the final and get to play golf for two days in a row coming up, yeah and there may be another one of us in the finals.
Speaker 1:Jeremy, have you figured?
Speaker 4:out yet?
Speaker 1:uh, not quite, but I'm really pushing for it okay yeah, uh, so we had a couple guys uh from the diamonds division that are not going to be able to attend. Uh, so stephen jackson, first alternate, got in and and Jeremy is second alternate and so, yeah, just waiting to see if he can accept the invite. Dan, don't think we're going to get to you.
Speaker 3:Nope, nope, I'm too far down.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you got two more spots that need to go away and it's possible, but we'll see. We'll see.
Speaker 3:It's all good, I couldn't make it anyway.
Speaker 5:Oh, that's right. Bgc in the house.
Speaker 2:BGC in the house.
Speaker 1:Hey, we played it. I don't know if you heard it. I haven't clipped it yet, but I got proof Joe's not vaping, he quit. Well, maybe he quit just for the show.
Speaker 2:Right, here I'm trying Mike, I'm trying Mike, I'm trying Mike.
Speaker 1:Oh, I didn't know what he's talking about. I'm listening to the audio to hear Joe. He starts laughing. It's too funny, all right, so you guys need to.
Speaker 2:You guys need to come pick up some curds. I have too many, so you guys, I'll come by tomorrow.
Speaker 1:I'll try to come by tomorrow as well.
Speaker 2:I gotta get my shorts still too, and I think I might have ran into an emergency and had to wear the shorts so they might be dirty currently as long as you didn't have the emergency while you were wearing the shorts, I'm cool with that hey, two kids, two kids working male masseuse. You know like I didn't have time to do laundry so I ran into an emergency.
Speaker 1:They were ready to go for you, but is that what you were wearing at the tournament?
Speaker 2:I didn't see that's what I was wearing with Alfredo Wigglesworth. I definitely got to clean him.
Speaker 4:You definitely need to clean him.
Speaker 1:Too funny.
Speaker 3:All right.
Speaker 1:So the VGN finals, as we're talking about here, are set. I've got, let's see how many people. I'm waiting to confirm on this. Uh, let's see. Oh, hey, the knights just went up. Well, that's okay. Um, let's see, who are we waiting for? I'm gonna call you out live on the air here. So we are waiting for matt nalasco, big Matt. Oh, michael Visagas is not playing, so he is out. Let's see, all the Spades division has confirmed that they are coming. All the Hearts division has confirmed they are coming.
Speaker 2:We got four guys. Do you take Visa gift cards?
Speaker 1:For payment. Yeah, you can pay on the website.
Speaker 2:With the Visa gift card, all right.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So James Lewis, pierce Hollander, farzan Tutski and Daniel Morales, david McManus, all the clubs guys. I'm waiting to find out if they're playing or not. So what is at stake? And you know, I had a conversation with Mr Pusey today.
Speaker 1:He's not playing and it came down to a financial decision for him. Um, you know, he could work and make some money or he can go out there and try and and win and he looked at it. As you know, the odds are not in his favor. So I'm not going to play and that kind of that kind of stung, because you know I I don't want guys, uh, you know, not competing for a title. You know, because I'm I don't have it, the odds aren't in my favor.
Speaker 1:I want people that want to show up and play hard and try to win and come out and give it your best and show this whole community around us of golfers in the Vegas area that there's some serious talent playing in our top flight. So I was a little bummed that he didn't come out, but, uh, for everybody that's not aware, uh, the VGN finals we take the top 10 players from each flight, they all get the invite and we play a two day tournament. This year it's at Boulder Creek, next year We'll be back at Revere. And uh, it's a two day aggregate score to determine who wins. The top eight positions get points, the bottom two do not, and then you add those to your season points. Whoever has the most at the end gets the player of the year. It's a $1,000 prize and you get a very nice new trophy thanks to Atomic Golf.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Also, there is a tournament that's still taking place, not just to determine the player of the year, the 10 players from each flight. They're playing in a tournament and, uh, there's a 500 first place prize and a 250 second place prize. So, uh, good, money up for grabs for the tournament. Um, and then the winners of the flight, the winner of the flight, the winner of the division, the Diamonds division, the winner of the Spades Art Clubs division they get a free entry into next year's season, free membership. So there are some things to play for. So you know, I tell everybody it's hard to get guys to come out and play in a league that they signed up and paid to play in. I don't understand why, but you know we have something. This is what our third full season, fourth, two thousand and one, I think it's.
Speaker 1:third, I think it's third, third full season, fourth year. So next year will be our fifth year that we've been around and you know we're going to continue to make changes to make it better. The first thing on the agenda for our board of directors meeting is I want I think we're going to bump the finals up to 15 players per flight and give more guys an opportunity to play in the finals and bring back the, the win in your end. Rob had a great suggestion that, hey, we do the win if you're in, but you have to have a certain amount of events played in order to earn that perk. So you come out and you play the first event you win. You're not automatically in the finals. You have to hit a certain number of events played to earn that automatic bid.
Speaker 1:So there's a bunch of things we're working on. I would love to land a sponsor to help with greens fees and make the payouts better, uh, but we are a player funded league right now. You know we have some, some supporters and a few sponsors that help us out with some things, but mainly, the players are on the hook for everything. So, uh, you know, until somebody decides that they think we're worthy of emptying their pockets out for us.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's how it's going to be, so yeah, and if you want that to change, I mean, why don't you share it and get more players in and spread the word of a sick ass golf league in Las Vegas where you can be out of the finals and then win the final one and get in?
Speaker 2:I mean everybody has Matt plumber too. Matt plumber, he won, he won the diamonds fight and he got in dude. Everybody has the same opportunity. I mean, like I'm going into the finals, like I have to win, so I mean, if I don't dude, I get to still play golf and there's still something to play for in that, even if I don't win, I can still play for skins, which the skin spots are always fantastic. You know you, you play, you play decently, like last year when, um, I fired, like I think I was like four under on the front nine last year and I tanked on the back but I still won money and I still got my entry fee paid for there's always something to play for in Vegas Golf Network. If you're a player in VGN, spread the word, get more players in and they can grow.
Speaker 1:Then the pot will get bigger. Biggest way to increase the payouts Increase the participation.
Speaker 2:Absolutely.
Speaker 1:We'll be going on a huge kick here once the finals wrap up. The season starts in February. Registrations open Now. If you want to, vegas golf networkcom, come check us out, come check us out. So let's get into some Shriners chatter, shriners talk.
Speaker 3:Dan and I were out at Shriners on Sunday and yeah, I don't know, right, dan yeah, it's just a little lackluster, you know, I think, just the fact that there's hardly any big names playing anymore, and the crowds were it was a Sunday, it was a good tournament and the weather was amazing it was great yeah
Speaker 3:and the crowds were 20 minutes. 20 minutes, yeah, 20 minutes. Yeah, we were wondering. We were like where the hell is Joe? And then Matt even called it he goes. I bet you Quinn probably threw a tantrum and they kicked him out of here because she was being too loud. And then, like 10 minutes later, a text came through. Quinn threw a fit.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean it was close to their nap time, I mean definitely quinn's nap time. So, and with that 10 minute walk just to get in there, like you know it took, it took a minute, but um, theo had a little bit of fun, but we were right next to the first t. I don't know if anybody was t enough, but yeah it was. Uh, I felt bad.
Speaker 3:I felt bad the picture you sent where she was just getting ready, oh, where she was getting, just oh that was hilarious, oh yeah I was cracking up I pulled out a piece of candy out of the diaper bag, gave it to her.
Speaker 2:She calmed down in like 10 seconds and then I just bolted out of there.
Speaker 1:Good, Good move, I am gone, I am gone.
Speaker 3:The emergency sandwich and emergency candy.
Speaker 1:Yeah, look at.
Speaker 2:Yeah, there, it is right there.
Speaker 3:Look at Theo. He's going to have some fun in his bandage.
Speaker 1:He's like not having it.
Speaker 4:Theo's like we're leaving, aren't we Dad?
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Let's play some golf. Golf dude. When I told him where we're going, he's like I get to play right.
Speaker 1:I'm like no dude, you don't you know maybe one day maybe one day yeah, it's fall yeah, so I mean, I was impressed. The greens looked absolutely remarkable, they looked flawless.
Speaker 5:So much of the areas around the green were shaped.
Speaker 1:I mean Dan and I were both like, do you remember it being that shaped down around the greens? So I mean the runoffs were great. I mean the guys still played well, even with the windy weather on Friday, and I don't know it. Just this is what I said to Dan. We were sitting there and I said, you know, vegas is glitz, glam, stars, boxing championships, super Bowls, nascar, formula One. You know professional bull riding, bull games, the nc2a tournaments, it's big, big, big, big. And the shriners just isn't big. It's not, it is. It is the highest level of professional golf, but it's the, the lower tier of that profession, and there's so many, there's so many, there's so many good golfers. Don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong these guys are great.
Speaker 1:I'm not going out and shooting 20 under over four days at Shriner. So I mean world talents, these guys, but it's not a draw, it's not. I mean Ricky Fowler, one of the biggest draws in the field, had a very small gallery following him. It was weak, it was live size, it was bad, but in comparison we were out at live. The crowds at live blew Shriners out the door. I mean blew it away, and that's sad. That's sad.
Speaker 1:So what I suggested was you need to cut all affiliation with PGA Tour, live, dp, world Tour, whatever all these tours, and just get 50 of the best players in the world. It doesn't matter where you play, it doesn't matter who you play for, it doesn't matter how you earn your money on the golf course during the season. October, the end of October, in Vegas, the best 50 golfers on the planet play for a huge money purse out of Shadow Creek and just blow it up and have it be a golf event that everybody wants, because that's what Vegas is. That's the Vegas draw, shriners is not it, shriners, is not it?
Speaker 1:And it breaks my heart because it's the local tournament that we have. It's our tournament, it's our chance to go out and see the professionals. Uh, you know, it was fun walking around. It was great seeing harry. It's fun watching him play. It was great seeing a lot of the you know, local guys that play out it and watching the crowds and the kids and, uh, but it's not, it's not vegas, it's just not it don't fit anymore did you see the video of uh no laying up neil, where he was talking about how shriners children is like?
Speaker 2:uh, obviously non-for-profit um brand company hospital, but pj tour charges them to be a sponsor and like what they net from the tournament like, but the pga tour is about giving back. So I I I only watch the quick snippet, but I have to watch that yeah, like so. Pga tour is about giving back. Shriners has to pay to be a sponsor of the tournament and then they get what they get from you know?
Speaker 1:I mean, it's a it's a great way for a company like Shriners to get some exposure, but no yeah it's, it's fantastic. Right.
Speaker 2:Like you know, they do a great job with the videos of the kids.
Speaker 1:Oh, it's amazing, it's amazing.
Speaker 2:You know, but there's something missing. And yeah, like you said, it's not Vegas, but you know, I love going, I love being there every year.
Speaker 4:Yeah me too.
Speaker 2:I love that we can see Vegas on TV in a golf tournament and I love all that aspect, but it, it, it doesn't hit hard, you know, and in vegas we hit hard, and I think that's what you're getting at like, when we, when we do something, we do something and shriners doesn't do it to the fullest. I mean when you're there as a attendee, like it's fantastic, but like I don't know it is, I get what you're saying yeah, it's just it's.
Speaker 1:Wouldn't you say so, dan too, do you? I mean, you were there.
Speaker 3:It's just there's no buzz yeah, it's just, there's no buzz there. It just falls real flat. You know, I don't know if it's shriners to sponsor themselves, you know, granted, I'm sure they do a lot of wonderful things, um, but maybe just a new sponsor somehow could bring a little bit more life into it. Or maybe it's just the location too. Maybe they need to shake up, you know, the tpc Summerlin and move it to Shadow Creek. Something's got to give. It's just. Yeah, like Joe said, it's just not hitting.
Speaker 4:I think it's really just the time of the year. That's really the only thing, Because if it was, I mean if they played, remember when we had, what was it? The CJ Cup was at Shadow Creek.
Speaker 5:Yeah, that was during.
Speaker 4:COVID right, yeah, was it. The cj cup was at shadow creek. Yeah, that was during covet right yeah, yeah, and when that was the same, yeah it was a week after weekend or the week before, or something. I mean you had everyone there, but that was also before they switched up the fedex and yeah, it could.
Speaker 2:Just it could just be on the pj tour, like you know, like they changed the whole fall season around, so we don't, we don't get any names to draw in it destroyed it.
Speaker 4:It's the same thing for every tournament. Now this time of year. It's just players trying to improve their ranking, and that's the only reason they're there. Yeah, I like your idea, though A non-affiliated tournament inviting the top players? That would be incredible, that's totally Vegas, totally Vegas. Idea though a non-affiliated tournament, yeah, by the top players, that would be incredible. That's, that's totally vegas totally vegas.
Speaker 1:And then you just, and you just line that walkway up to the clubhouse with vendors, you know, and I mean, just make it a fucking show, make it a show of the talent and like, hey, after four days give them a big ass w WWF belt and a check for $20 million and have the showgirls there and have Oscar Goodman pouring some gin. I mean, just make it what golf fans want to see. It doesn't have to be the Ryder Cup every two years, it doesn't have to be the major, just the best golfers on the planet, regardless, regardless of who you are and and haven't you know, have golfers pick you know like screw the rankings, screw this, screw, because you know it just.
Speaker 1:We all know who the best golfers in the world are.
Speaker 2:Everybody knows, let's all get them on told my buddy at work. He was like who won? I was like jt post, and he's like who's that exactly? It's like, well, you're not a fucking golf nerd. I guess I don't know what to tell you. You know there wasn't many names out there. You know probably, you know maybe a couple, but yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1:It's sad. Who were we talking to that said that they heard that this is the last year for Shriners to be the sponsor, or next year is the last year, chase? Oh yeah, swingpoint was saying that, so I don't know how true that is. We'll find out when it happens. If it does happen, you know, I'd love to keep seeing the PGA tour out here in Vegas, but without something to inject some life into it, man, it's, it's not good.
Speaker 2:You know one thing I really like about Shriners and I mean this could go for any tournament that is going to be held in Vegas. If you are a Las Vegas golfer and you are in in the crowd and playing the leagues or you know, playing skins game, you're going to see somebody you know and it's oh yeah, that's really cool. You, like you, you are no doubt going to run into somebody you know which is which is awesome, and that's that's. What's really cool about those events is it brings people that really love the game together, and you know I don't want it to go anywhere, but you know we need to figure something out to, uh, make it more yeah, yeah, we saw, the uh, yeah, chris horace is out there putting over under on how many people we're going to recognize yeah, we hit the over.
Speaker 1:Chris torres I am. We saw mateo out there. We saw doug schreiter out there. Um, harry, of course, yeah, uh. And then, uh, and somebody came up to me that I went to middle school with and they're like, he's like man, yeah, yeah, you know. And so he were. He's a in corporate for finley, so he was following harry around because they got a great relationship with him and I was just it's, it's awesome being out there and seeing people. It's great. And the hot dog was balling. It was good. It was good, it was a good hot dog. We took advantage of the media tent refreshments, absolutely, and the scorecard holder they were giving out was… oh, that was fantastic.
Speaker 2:I love that.
Speaker 4:Great little gift.
Speaker 1:I'll be using that for sure. Oh, dan's got it right there, yeah dang, that's nice yeah, it's real nice.
Speaker 3:Oh, we should have grabbed you one, jeremy, I'm sorry that's what we got an extra feels, got a spot for the pencil a little well, you didn't go hard you can't have one, yeah it's a bad thing too, because you know like in the last few years they've done a lot of improvements.
Speaker 3:You know when they built this, then when they built the hill, you know the viewing decks from up there, the bars inside, and then they built you know a little bit further down the way they built the spot and now they have a bunch of, like you know, cool little corporate, little pop-up tents here and there and they really try to put some extra effort into making this tournament a little bit better. But it's just, yeah, still needs tweaking and work.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it needs an injection of golf love, golf love. All right, we're going to take our break. Golf love, golf love. So, all right, we're going to take our break and when we come back we're going to talk about some new land that may be in use north of Bandon for a golf course.
Speaker 5:There's something that binds us all the joy of connecting on and off the course. Get there. The way a little heckle can be just the push you need. Get there A love language marked by admiration and respect. We're all bound by two words said by golfers worldwide Get there, visit us at your local Las Vegas golf superstore or shop online at worldwidegolfcom. Worldwide golf. Get there, do it. Get there, get there.
Speaker 1:Do it, get there, get there, do it, do it. A company man is going to be out at Revere from 9 to 2 this Friday. If anybody's looking to get fit for some new Callaway gear, get online, schedule an appointment, come see me and Juju, we will be out there, get there, get there. Get to Moorhead in juju. We will be out there, get there, get there, get to morehead still, the worst name ever but, yeah, I get, it was the, you know, the very influential member of the community.
Speaker 1:So, uh, all right, all right, joe, let's hear. Let's hear about, uh, what's what's going on a little north of Bandon? Yeah, I still haven't finished that article.
Speaker 2:Everything okay at home? Yeah, no, I just looked at it.
Speaker 1:You're not reading an article about golf in the Bandon areas.
Speaker 2:You know, disturbing. I had it on my phone. Um, so for anybody that's ever been abandoned or taken the trip from eugene to, uh, bandon or portland abandoned, um, near, near, you have, you have. I'm proud of you for that. Um, if you, if you look off to the west while you're driving, there is a huge, massive dunes land. Some of it's protected, but, yeah, it looks like shout out Beth Page, black Metal on Instagram, because that's how I saw this. But an investor bought a piece of that property and it looks like there's 36 holes coming to that land and it is all sand, it is all dunes.
Speaker 1:Big, big, big dunes too. Yeah, big dunes.
Speaker 2:I thought it was all like because you drive by and it's, you know it's a park, part of it is I, it is, I get I. I thought all of it was, but all of it is not supposedly so. Um, yeah, that's uh, you know, some competition coming to the band in area which is it's not very far from bandon either. It's probably 30 minutes, 40 minutes maybe what's it?
Speaker 4:do you? You know the little town over there. What is it called?
Speaker 2:It's north of Coos Bay, so it's near Reedsport.
Speaker 4:I remember.
Speaker 2:When you go over that bridge, the longer bridge, when you're leaving Coos Bay it's from Bandon, it's off to the left. It looks like you should be sand boarding like snowboarding, but on sand out there it looks sick. So yeah, I'm curious to see what happens out there. I am one to believe that Mike Kaiser bought it under an alias, but I haven't texted him yet. He hasn't told me anything. So we'll see.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't think he'd need to use an alias. They're probably like if it's you, yeah here.
Speaker 2:take the land, we know what you're going to do. Well, it's the whole Walt Disney thing. Like you know, walt Disney had to buy land in Orlando under an alias or through shell companies, to build Walt Disney World. Under an alias or through shell companies to build Walt Disney World. So, like Bandit being the Walt Disney of golf, I mean, I don't think it's that far fetched to believe that, potentially.
Speaker 4:Who bought it? Mitch Sizer.
Speaker 2:No, I think his name was Jason Roberts, if I remember.
Speaker 1:Mike Miser.
Speaker 2:Which Jason Roberts definitely sounds like an alias to me.
Speaker 1:Jonathan Michael Smith from Salt Lake. Yes, that's who bought it.
Speaker 2:So the article is not coming up anymore.
Speaker 1:Uh-oh, uh-oh breaking anymore. Uh-oh, uh-oh breaking news, uh-oh.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:We've been duped.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but it is also asking me to buy a subscription and log in, so maybe.
Speaker 1:I just overstayed my welcome. Yeah you free trials, much free, your free trials over buddy, sorry but beyond that, go ahead.
Speaker 2:Beyond that. Uh, a source out of uh bandon that I do talk to on instagram. I was actually talking to him late into the evening last night about you know things at bandon and it has anybody ever heard of the bowling ball on old mac? Okay, so there's a story about a bowling ball on old mac. I won't go into that deeply, but he did tell me that the new river project did get approved. Which new river is?
Speaker 3:um a piece of land that is, south of Annan that we saw.
Speaker 1:Is that the end?
Speaker 4:of the point.
Speaker 3:Baltimore.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm not going to tell it because I don't know the whole thing yet, but New River did get approved, which is the piece of land that the Scotty D, who's now a caddy at Pebble Beach. If you need a caddy at Pebble Beach, go hit him up the Scotty D or also Jacob O'Keefe Great dudes, but that's the land that he took us to when we were out there and there is room for 54 holes. So the New River Project for Bandon did get approved. That's about 15 minutes south of the town of Bandon, so probably 20 minutes away from Bandon Dunes south. Where is it in relation?
Speaker 3:to crossings.
Speaker 1:It's like a five minute drive from south of the crossing. Yeah, it's not cliffy, it's not like how Bandon is up on the cliffs, it's more sea level.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's like an inlet but still like dooney oh, dude, it was, it was thick, it was, it was thick, which I'm curious how they're gonna build that, because it's like there's like an island of dunes and then there's water between and then there's like dunes forest next to it.
Speaker 1:It's gonna be the myrtle beach of the pacific northwest yeah, I can see that.
Speaker 2:I can see that statement being true. Yeah, just on the water, goodness. But yeah, that did get approved, so we'll, we'll see it happens with that you know what didn't get approved?
Speaker 1:any golf courses new in vegas yeah, for another week yeah, none approved. So, yeah, not that anybody wants to come here and spend money and not be able to water it, so that won't be happening anytime soon.
Speaker 4:So you know what I've been thinking about prim lately, and it almost brings me to tears thinking about that place stop, stop it. Yeah, so I just had to share. I have to get thinking about that place, stop it. I have to get that off my chest because I've been extremely bothered lately about it.
Speaker 2:Don't hold it in, let it go. I know I was thinking about it yesterday I was getting so upset.
Speaker 4:I just want to go out and play Prim. I know.
Speaker 1:It's such a shitty thing that it's not there anymore.
Speaker 4:There's zero information, Like it's just taken from us.
Speaker 1:I think we should just go hop the fence and go play it. We're used to playing at greens like that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's one thing that really sucks is man, we just keep getting golf courses taken away with us. Meanwhile, did you guys hear the Sweetens Cove news? Yes, can't wait to go sit there and not play.
Speaker 2:I knew you had something bad to say no, the renditions look fantastic oh, I, I think it's gonna be a fantastic edition. Um, you know, there is, uh, if anybody's seen, the sketches of the New Sweetens Cove additions. There's an area in the back right corner of the photo that almost looks like a driving range, but as looks like a short area and a short course yeah, the short course, but there's an area in the back it almost looks like a baseball diamond.
Speaker 2:So there's speculations. There's speculations that it'll be a driving range, but the famous statement out of sweeten's cove that I've heard many times is there will never be a driving range at sweeten'sove. I think it's more of an amphitheater for events. So that's my take on that. But there's also it also looks like there is a putting course and they're also going to throw some lights up for the short course. It looks like so good for them I got to get back out there and actually play this time.
Speaker 1:Before you do that, fix your internet.
Speaker 3:I don't know what's going on, dude, super laggy, super buffery.
Speaker 1:Kids are probably streaming Rachel's Kitchen, was it?
Speaker 2:Miss Rachel, yeah streaming.
Speaker 1:Rachel's Kitchen, or was it, miss Rachel? Yeah, rachel's Kitchen.
Speaker 4:Rachel's. Kitchen yeah, they're trying to be shipped.
Speaker 1:I don't know what that shit's called. My kids are one in New York and the other one's in her own little world. That I don't get. I don't spend time with my kids anymore.
Speaker 2:Rachel's Kitchen would be a great sponsor in her own little world that I don't get to spend time with my kids anymore. Rachel's Kitchen would be a great sponsor Shout out Rachel's. Kitchen. If you're looking to sponsor a golf podcast, we're here for you.
Speaker 1:There's a couple new spots on St Rose that just opened up food-wise, if anybody cares. Mobetta, the Hawaiian place, and then what's next to it, jeremy, have you seen it?
Speaker 4:There's Chiba, hut, chiba. Hut, that's what it is. I've never been there.
Speaker 1:So some more food options coming to Wes.
Speaker 3:Henderson Weed-infused sandwiches yeah.
Speaker 2:That's what it sounds like, but it's not.
Speaker 1:And.
Speaker 2:It's toasted.
Speaker 1:In F1 news because F1 is coming soon. We're a little about a month away from F1. The Haas broke ground finally in Wes Henderson, so that is some massive stuff that is coming. Why does Matthew look like a beaver's?
Speaker 2:nutsack Wow Payback.
Speaker 1:A beaver's nutsack Wow.
Speaker 4:We're all going to get picked up.
Speaker 1:One by one, one by one. Jeremy, you and I are next this is why yeah, male masseuse or beaver's nutsack dude I was gonna like literally after last week.
Speaker 2:I'm gonna be like, hey, maybe we should not do facebook anymore. I was gonna say that, but I think it. I think it made a great little segment area and you know, I had to come to terms with my own self and know thyself um to believe in that moment. So, but it sounds like we're all getting attacked now, so I love it. Yeah, we're all gonna get it. Shout out, paul peter paul peters.
Speaker 4:What a great God given name.
Speaker 3:What was the profile picture.
Speaker 2:The what.
Speaker 3:Paul Peters profile picture. The koala the koala, don't koalas have like chlamydia or some shit like that? Yes, they do See. Yeah, paul, you got chlamydia or some shit like that. Oh, yes, they do see. Yeah, paul, you got chlamydia. Yeah, damn let's watch.
Speaker 2:A lot of documentaries I watch a shit ton of documentaries bro a bunch of 50s and dude, I'm.
Speaker 1:I'm like jones in oak island and and uh uh, skinwalker ranch. Haven't been on in a while.
Speaker 2:And I'm like.
Speaker 4:Yes, oh, wow, joe probably sits in his car naked with binoculars and a glass of milk.
Speaker 1:Wow, wow, okay, oh yeah. Facebook. I think we're done with Facebook. I think we might be done with Facebook. Wow, okay, oh yeah.
Speaker 3:Facebook. I'm sorry.
Speaker 2:I think we might be done with Facebook with binoculars and a glass of milk hey, paul, before you go, can you get Dan and Jeremy please, so we can make it even get.
Speaker 1:Dan and Jeremy real quick too funny.
Speaker 2:I think we're done with Facebook. Get Dan and Jeremy real quick Too funny.
Speaker 1:I think we're done with Facebook. Yeah, that might be. It's run its course. It's run its course.
Speaker 2:But Paul, Paul, get Dan, get Jeremy real quick, and then we'll cut it off Please.
Speaker 1:I think Paul may be gone.
Speaker 2:I thought he was gone after the Beaver Nuts sack, but he wasn't.
Speaker 1:Hey, anybody want to talk about golf anymore, or are we?
Speaker 4:good yeah.
Speaker 2:Oh man, it's great, love it yeah bye, bye thanks so long. Thanks for the shoes and this is why you don't go on Facebook anymore. I haven't been on there in six years.
Speaker 1:I say every now and then there's some good stuff out there, but you know you got people who are douche canoes. What are?
Speaker 2:you gonna do? All I hear is oh, facebook, marcus marketplace is great. That's why I go on facebook. Yeah, they're not wrong. Yeah, but then you're gonna get tagged by a dude that says you're a male masseuse. What do you do then? You're just what do you do, then I'm gonna have to do a hidden green shirt that's like based in a massage parlor and say, hey, do you want to play golf?
Speaker 4:Joe did you need to make one of you sitting in the car with a glass of milk.
Speaker 5:A glass of milk.
Speaker 3:A new chippy dice man oh too funny.
Speaker 1:Hey, did you see the new Golden Knights beer that Sting 90 and the other announcer did?
Speaker 2:I did not.
Speaker 1:No, yeah, big Dogs, it's called what the Puck and it's got characters of them as dogs on the can. It's only sold at Big Dogs and T-Mobile. Cool, it's a hazy IPA.
Speaker 2:I like hazy IPAs.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So if you're around Big Dogs, go get you some. It's called what the Puck.
Speaker 2:They're up 3-0 on the Kings right now.
Speaker 1:So shout out, shout out. Vgk Late start tonight, so I may be able to catch some of that yeah, today was frozen fury, so all teams played today, which is that why there was so many games on TV frozen fury day. October. The sports equinox is next week, I think what do you guys think?
Speaker 4:about the match shadow? I think it. What do you guys think about the match at Shadow? Do you think it's going to be better than the recent?
Speaker 1:one the match.
Speaker 4:I think it has potential. Honestly, it could be better.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think it could be really good.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's in celebrities that they've been using along with the pros. It's just been god awful.
Speaker 1:Yeah, let's get some golfers.
Speaker 3:Yeah, get back to having golfers back in there and we're getting it. It's a great lineup.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's going to be good they need to get Smiley out there.
Speaker 2:What's the other dude Colt Nose. Colt Nose those guys, thoset Nose Like those guys, those kinds of guys.
Speaker 1:Those guys, not Marshawn Lynch.
Speaker 4:Please no, no.
Speaker 2:I mean if you're going to get those kind of guys like Steph Curry, larry Fitzgerald, people that actually that golf, yeah, yeah, that's the thing you need golfers that you know like people that actually golf.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's the thing you need golfers that you know, like get schoolboy Q out there.
Speaker 2:You know people that actually know the game, like not fucking Marshawn.
Speaker 4:Lynch Was Marshawn Lynch at the one with the F1?.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 4:I'm sure none of those guys even knew who that was.
Speaker 1:Probably had no idea.
Speaker 2:I mean that kind of made it funny though, because like, but like just so unnecessary yeah, I'm one like instigators, like I'm not a huge bob does sports guy, but like like those guys could be good if if it was done properly. Or like it always just feels like, it feels like cookie cutter, it's like, oh, this is rehearsed. You know, I don't want it to feel rehearsed. That's the thing.
Speaker 4:Like if it's organic.
Speaker 2:if it's organic, it could be great, you know like really organic, with really good people that are interacting with them.
Speaker 1:It could be great, but it always feels rehearsed that uh uh, creators cup or whatever, that they did it at east lake, that it wasn't terrible I thought that was terrible, really good, really good, yeah it it.
Speaker 1:It was produced well. It was good seeing those people play in an environment where you know they got to show off their show, their skills, and not, you know, uh, record erase, record erase. Oh, that was a good one. Ok, let's post that one, so it's. It was nice to see that and I think it was done well, so it can be done, it's not like it's impossible to do.
Speaker 1:Go watch you know, we say it all the time Shell's wonderful world of golf. Horrible, horrible commentary and footage. But, man, it's fantastic to watch because they're showcasing golf.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's what. Yeah, I think the creator's cup was probably one, one of the best, like live, like golf, things like that, like I. I think creator's cup was really good, I think they did a great job and and that's what that doesn't need to be live.
Speaker 1:It doesn't need to be live Record it. Chop it up, make it. Make it an hour, not three. Make it good. Yeah, make it good.
Speaker 2:I think so. The guys that did the Creators Cup. They're the same people that did the full swing. You know that, right? Yes, and they've also invested in, uh, sugar loaf social club. Um, they've brought in some of the um creators from instagram on, I think. I think they're on a path to like, really create some really cool stuff. So, um, good, I love it. But, um, yeah, I mean dan rapaport, I think, just signed to them, so and I, I trust dan rapaport, like dan rapaport, loves golf for sure.
Speaker 2:100, oh, absolutely, and he knows it yeah, yeah, so scratch yeah it's scratch basically, but, um, the company that produces full swing is doing scratch now. So I think there's good things in in in the future and I I really think TGL is going to be sick Like I'm. I'm excited for TGL. I think it's going to be awesome.
Speaker 1:It's another one we're going to have to clip, so when it's a flop we can bring it.
Speaker 2:I really do not believe it's going to be a flop it's a flop, we could bring it back.
Speaker 1:I really do not believe it's going to be a flop. No, I don't think it's going to be a flop either.
Speaker 2:I think it's going to be very entertaining, very fun to watch awesome dude, they're playing out of real sand, you know, like, and the green moves, like, and the screen's huge. And uh, did you guys see that post where, like, would you spend 750 to go to see the Ryder Cup or $160 to go see TGL live? I mean, what would you guys pick? I'd pick TGL all day.
Speaker 1:On my couch watching them for free.
Speaker 2:If you had to fucking pick dude.
Speaker 1:Oh, I'm not spending $750 to go to the Ryder Cup. I don't care where it's at. Unless it comes with free room, free airfare, free food, then maybe yeah, 750 for rider cup.
Speaker 2:Love america, but that is insane we got a deal with getting into there. Like it's gonna be a nut show, like there's a two-lane road to get oh, you've got some experience getting in there, right you've.
Speaker 1:You've played beth page, right, joe? Yeah?
Speaker 2:I have played there, I have did you. Did I not tell you guys, it's cool man, it's really cool, um I'm trying to remember if you said anything about that um I might not have mentioned every week for the last month but I think I think tgl is going to be a really fun event To be in a stadium aspect and see golf and you get to see top players. You're not walking a whole course around, that's going to be the key.
Speaker 1:They're all right there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're all right there. It's stadium atmosphere. You don't have to chase them down and walk the course to try and find them.
Speaker 1:Has the start for that been confirmed yet?
Speaker 2:january 7th oh really right after, right after, uh, hawaii huh yeah, and it's like it's like every week for like eight weeks and then the playoffs.
Speaker 4:They said how, how many tickets are like, how big the crowds are going to be I think it'll be a smaller stadium and probably like three, three, three K maybe. I don't know they're building. They're building a family center or something like that.
Speaker 1:It was in Florida and the hurricane ruined it, right.
Speaker 2:Like last year, they're building us an arena just for it.
Speaker 4:So oh, okay.
Speaker 2:I mean they're not going to be. I don't think they're going to be traveling, but I think it's going to be really good and it's gonna be like monday night prime time, like 7 pm, like good stuff I think it's gonna be great. I'm very excited for it yeah, all right.
Speaker 1:well, we got a slow week this week, so we had a lot of fluff on the show this week because there's not a whole lot going on. The Zozo over in Japan is taking place, so we'll get some primetime golf this week you guys are going to get out.
Speaker 4:This is incredible. Yeah, you guys are going to get out this weekend Hopefully I'm I'm.
Speaker 1:I got some family in town so we spent some time with my mother. We're going to the Boise UNLV game Friday night. Go Rebels. They opened up the 200 deck finally for the crowd, so hopefully get a nice raucous crowd out there and kick some Bronco a booty.
Speaker 2:You guys want to go play Red Rock? Yes, I'll try and work it out for saturday.
Speaker 1:oh, fuck you, joe, this guy too, is I'll never play red rock again. It's not not fancy enough for me it's all sure so funny all right, joe. Well, uh, oh, I do want to ask everybody if you've made it this long, if you listen to this long, uh, you're a fan of the show. And uh, if you haven't left a review for us on itunes you know, uh help a brother out help a podcast out.
Speaker 1:Uh, head over to itunes, head over to spotify. Leave us a review. The reviews help. You know we're cranking out episodes weekly. We've got 300 coming up here real soon. We're having a lot of fun doing this and the feedback we've been getting from everybody lately has been outstanding. So thank you all for that. So, out of the kindness of your heart, if you could, please assist us, leave us a review on iTunes. Help us spread the word, help us get more people involved and help us make this show even better for you down the road. That is all I got. Joe, with your choppy-ass internet and megapixel Minecraft-looking screen, go ahead and take us out.
Speaker 2:Hey, as always, shout-out Beds. We'll work that Red Rock Roundout for Saturday. Go grab yourself some Travis, uh, travis, matthew. Um, thanks everybody for tuning in. As Matt mentioned, go like, subscribe. Comment helps us, you know. Shut everybody that tunes in every single week. Um, I might not be here next week in a moment. So, uh, I'm going to Baltimore, but moment I'm going, to Baltimore.
Speaker 1:Trey wants to get back on the show, so we'll have him come and chat.
Speaker 2:I'm going to jump in at some point, it just probably won't be very long.
Speaker 1:Maybe we'll get beds on.
Speaker 2:Yeah, get beds on.
Speaker 1:It's been a while since we've had Mr Matthews on.
