The Chasing Daylight Podcast

299: Joe's Golf Adventures, East Coast vs. Vegas Courses, and Non-Golfers in "The Match Superstars"

CHASING DAYLIGHT

Send us a text

Have you ever been caught in the whirlwind of political chaos and longing for a lighthearted escape? We sure did, and that's why we're taking a break to share laughs over a YouTube poll about voting and the barrage of political texts that have been clogging up our phones. Join us as we joke about launching a mass text campaign featuring Joe’s remarkable golf snaps for some much-needed relief.

Switching gears, we couldn't resist exploring the captivating contrasts between classic East Coast golf courses and those in the ever-bustling Las Vegas. Imagine the thrill of playing a round where crossing highways is part of the charm, a rarity for us Vegas golfers. Our journey continues with tales of local happenings, including our excitement over Biderman logo merchandise. We’re also gearing up for new golfing escapades on the horizon and can’t wait to catch up with old friends on the greens.

There’s a buzz about upcoming events, including a unique edition of "The Match" featuring non-golfers like Ken Griffey Jr. and Mark Wahlberg. We're betting on the unpredictable dynamics to spice things up, especially before the TGL kicks off on ESPN in January. Recent outings at Paiute Wolf and Revere Concord stunned us with their pristine conditions despite a few three-putt frustrations. And as we approach our milestone 300th episode, we’re ready to unveil our 2024 Vegas golf rankings.

Special thanks to our show sponsors and supporters!
We couldn't do this without your support!

Speaker 1:

What is up, everybody? Welcome to another episode, the election night in america episode of the chasing daylight podcast. You know what are you doing, joe I was just mouthing what you were saying uh, I went back and I'm like I wonder if we did an episode in 2000 because you know we do tuesdays and sure enough did an episode in 2000. Back then we were a little bit more serious and only talked golf.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so it was I don't think I was on that one no, yeah, you were you were oh yeah, 2020, yeah yeah, november 2020 yep, yep, you, you were there.

Speaker 1:

You were there. And if you want to hear a poorly produced podcast, I think that was episode 66. So we were early in the show. But hey, if you're tuning in tonight, 66, wow, yeah, right, if you're tuning in tonight. Thank you for tuning in. I know it's a big night in politics in America. A lot of people are glued to their televisions. Dan was here with us and we've lost him.

Speaker 3:

So he went to get it. He went to vote last minute vote.

Speaker 1:

Hopefully he can, he can get back in, but, like I said, big night in America, big night for the country, presidential election going on. I have a little ticker that I can. This is currently what the electoral votes are at right now, so we'll keep track on that. We also no whiskey Joe. We also have a vote going on on YouTube. If you're on YouTube, you go vote, uh, in the poll for who you vote for. So, uh, you know we, we get some good views each week, so let's, we'll see what are they?

Speaker 2:

what are they voting for?

Speaker 1:

who you voted for in the election oh well, yours says I voted no, I'm just because I did I did too, okay, well you.

Speaker 2:

You can change that, if you want oh, oh okay, I didn't know it was on us. I'm sorry.

Speaker 3:

The last thing that anyone wants to hear right now is about the presidential, about these for politics?

Speaker 1:

I didn't. I didn't want to put my sticker on and be that guy, but you know, you know, yeah. So well, we're here for a little bit of relief. Uh, if, if you're tired of the, the bs I mean who's not and you want to get a little break from it thanks for hanging out with us. Um, you know we'll, we'll. If some news breaks or anything, you know we'll, we'll throw it up there. But for the most part, we're here for some chaotic relief for, uh, for what's been going on. I know, I, I, I can speak for these two and and say that we, we are all tired of tv being ruined, uh, mail being ruined, text messages being ruined, phone calls being ruined. I will I will.

Speaker 2:

I will tell you there. It seems like there's a lot of big money in asking for money in text messages, so I might. I might start a mass text situation coming soon asking for money to add money to. Yeah, yeah, like hey, you know, do you want to see photos of you know whatever golf course? Then then send me money, because I will go.

Speaker 1:

I'm glad you said golf courses and not like feet or.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah. Do you want to see an on the ground? Only Joe's, yeah, only Joe's.

Speaker 3:

Only golf. Joe's toes, only Joe's, only soul golf.

Speaker 1:

All right. So, as always, we want to thank the people that are there supporting us. The golf stop in Henderson, the indoor track band facility, which, hey, it's starting to get cooler. I was practicing outside in sweats and a hoodie. Cold weather is here, so indoor facility is a great way to keep your game loose in between rounds while it's cold. Also want to give las vegas golf superstore some love. They are a proud supporter of ours as well. And then, uh, roars golf. Uh, love, love our boy roars. Roars. Throw his little logo up there. Uh, if you have not checked out his stuff, please do. He's got some new releases coming soon, so keep an eye out for that and and thank you everybody that has listened to fitter builder player.

Speaker 1:

We're three episodes in some great feedback. It's been a blast. Uh, this last one that we did was all about custom putter shafts and got some great feedback from that and everybody really enjoyed it. So more of that to come from me and roars. All right, Joe.

Speaker 2:

Matt how?

Speaker 1:

how'd you like last week's episode sir?

Speaker 2:

I haven't listened yet, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Do you know how we know you haven't listened.

Speaker 2:

Cause, the downloads were down.

Speaker 1:

No.

Speaker 2:

Cause you probably called me out of some shit and I didn't listen.

Speaker 1:

Yet uh well, uh well, I was thinking.

Speaker 2:

Today I was literally in the car and I was listening to the new tyler creator chroma copia album, which is an instant classic, sonically amazing. If you have not heard that, you should probably do that. And I was like I should probably be listening to last week's episode of the podcast and I I have yet to do it. I have a lot of podcasts to catch up on, but, um, yeah, so I'm sorry, but I did see. I did see that the, the downloads, were last week. Yeah, they were up.

Speaker 1:

Well, beautiful Golf Courses. Who always chimes in was on in the chat and he said, hey, I've got a tee time at Wynn when I'm out there next week for free 99.

Speaker 1:

Looking for three players, players, anybody want to come and we're like yep, we're going sweet and we're like, oh, joe won't mind, because he's bougie golfer joe now and he's played win with the golden knights and he's played, so so he's good, so we're good, yeah, and then then he goes. No, we have an update. Just spoke with my host. How about Shadow Creek boys?

Speaker 2:

Oh no, don't do that to me.

Speaker 1:

Yep, we did it to you, yep. So I told Dan and Jeremy don't say anything to Joe yet, because I want to hear him when he finds out that we're going to Shadow Creek without him.

Speaker 2:

That's the only one I have to play.

Speaker 1:

But you got gotta reprieve uh playing as a five some no, family member of his had some surgery, so he's not gonna be able to make the trip, okay, so we're rebooking it. So you, you still have a shot still have a shot.

Speaker 2:

When is this?

Speaker 1:

well, I mean I, I didn't bgc. I did not vape on last week's episode I have yet I have yet to hit the vape this week this week or this week's episode this week's episode okay I have not.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I did not vape on last week's episode. Go rewind the tape.

Speaker 1:

I did not do it well, it's because you weren't on it or the two weeks ago okay, now I want to hear I haven't vaped in two weeks, not I haven't, I haven't vaped in two weeks. I haven't vaped in eight minutes I've been vaped in two weeks I haven't vaped in two weeks uh, so dan just said he's having some issues, so he'll be. He'll be here shortly um well, for me.

Speaker 2:

Okay, let me just plead my case real quick. The only one I have yet to play in vegas is shadow creek, that's it, and the air force course uh yeah I forgot you did summit this year in the spring or something right oh yeah, joe's.

Speaker 2:

Joe's been on a little bender you know, I have been on a bender and it's not for, like you know, and that's the thing I'm not like searching it out. I know it'll come eventually. So if I do not get to play then it's okay. I know it will come eventually. The soul brings what the soul will and it'll eventually happen.

Speaker 1:

The soul brings what the soul brings happen.

Speaker 2:

I thought what the soul brings honestly like summit I I, I thought that would be the hardest get to ever get you know and uh, it helps when your situation you had.

Speaker 1:

I mean exactly, yeah, yeah, and that's the thing I mean, my boss worked and was a member at augusta, you know I right, I mean, but that's the.

Speaker 2:

You got to find yourself in those situations and the only way to do that is to get out there, be enjoyable, to play golf with um and uh, create connections and and do it that way, because there you can't buy your way onto summit, you can't buy your way onto Augusta, unless you're invited, you know, or things like that. But it's, it's all about being a um, uh, a player that people want to play with. So, and, and take that as an, as a note, I mean that that's what happens.

Speaker 1:

You know, we, we, we have an update.

Speaker 4:

That was a little late.

Speaker 1:

Let's try that again, that was a little late.

Speaker 2:

Let's try that again. It's very low, but I will tell you what. I was in maryland and I did buy lottery tickets, so they have yet to call these. So who knows, could be a member at summit soon and I will invite you guys first oh, thank you, thanks I did win five dollars on this one, so nice good roll hey well speaking of of you being back east, where you can buy a lot of tickets uh, let's talk

Speaker 2:

a little bit about uh, is it bitterman bitterman, yes, um, a friend of the pod, a friend of legends, never die, which is where we met miles. Um, he is the I would call miles, the unofficial mayor of wilmington. Um, I got to see where he works and um, yeah, great dude. Uh, we met up at a diner a, a double stack diner. Oh wow, I've never seen a two-story diner real deal diner built in Atlanta. But met him there for breakfast Fantastic, really great breakfast. Breakfast was great, but I haven't seen Miles in two, three years.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, since we played Mountain Falls with them Right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, great dude Love miles. Um, but him being the the mayor of tavern town, if you will, he knows a lot of people. Um, so we went to play Bitterman. It's a very under the radar course. I never, I had never heard of it. A lot of people out east have heard of it and it's a hard tee time to get.

Speaker 1:

It is a hard tee time to get.

Speaker 2:

Just ignore him. Yeah, so no signs. No signs going in. It was very old school East Coast golf. It felt like a farm Incredible greens, incredible bunkering around the greens, incredible fairway bunkering. Met the director at golf. There we go.

Speaker 2:

I will say one of my favorite, one of my favorite parts of the day, playing bitterman was not just playing with miles, who I hadn't seen in a while. Uh, the member who had us out was awesome too. But talking to the director of golf actor at golf dude was knowledgeable on architects and, uh, he'd never been to Bannon. So we chatted Bannon for a while and, uh, we talked like Perry Maxwell and we talked like Dick Wilson who uh, designed, uh and built uh Bitterman, who also built Marion and other courses.

Speaker 2:

But just like the dude's knowledge on golf courses Like I don't know if I've ever talked to anyone with more knowledge of, like golf course architecture in person than him and he was like the nicest guy in the world, you know, and smiling the whole time we were talking about Bannon. The nicest guy in the world, you know, and smiling the whole time we were talking about Bannon. He's like you guys ever did the solstice who miles has also done the solstice and I did the solstice with you and just like his like pure joy of talking golf Like it was, it was so cool. I've never seen a locker room ever in my life Like like Bitterman. It reminded me of like winged foot. You know the short lockers with high ceilings and you could look over the lockers yeah it was.

Speaker 2:

It was really classic style east coast golf that I'd imagine how it is for 100 years yeah, that we don't have here. We don't have that here. You know, like there's nothing with the history that exists there.

Speaker 4:

It was really cool.

Speaker 2:

When was that?

Speaker 3:

course, built. I have the bag here Also, most of the time 26 or 36?, I'm not sure. Has he been there a long time? Who, the guy that you were talking to? The, the head, the the director of golf.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm not sure, but it was really also cool to see, like my like some dude walked in um, his name was also joe, and uh, miles like nodded to um and uh, miles like nodded to um the dog, the dog, and he was like when did he leave fieldstone? You know like, oh no, I I think, I think it's so. It's so different out there, right, because there is a, the member lives in pennsylvania but he like is a member in Delaware, which it's very close, it's only a few miles, but it's it's so. It's so crazy, you know, and um, but I was, I was also look, cause we were almost going to play field stone and field stone looks sick.

Speaker 2:

They have like a behind one of the greens there's like this, like half broken down brick home that exists, it's just so. It's so different out there. That's the thing it's like. So it's so different out there, that's the thing it's. It's so different from what we play every day and that's that's the thing that I love to see, because I don't get. We don't get to do that all the time. We don't get that history all the time. We don't get those like classic architects all the time, like we have pete die and you know, and you know it, it's just different.

Speaker 1:

It's so different and it's a different like aspect to view golf from yeah, I think the the like well-known architects from the historical standpoint that have all those great courses on the east coast really never thought of vegas as a place where they're going to build a golf right yeah, you know. So I, I think, as the city was growing and they had these architects come out here, they're like uh, please, please, come design a golf course.

Speaker 2:

And and so the desert golf really wasn't a thing in their era well, yeah, I think that's one of those things, though, like vegas started exploding in like 1940, 45, 50 I'd say exploding, but people started living here then well, yeah, that I mean that's when it really and and golf has been around for a long time and, like a lot of these old school golf courses are from the 19, 1910, 1920s and you know, vegas wasn't even like a real city back then.

Speaker 2:

I mean, so it's just, it's so crazy to think while you're on these properties like this has been here for a very long time, like the oldest golf course, I think a town is the muni, which I'm wrong, but I'm just gonna throw it out there like 1953, I think. The Muni, which I'm wrong, but I'm just going to throw it out there Like 1953, I think the Muni was built somewhere around in that I'm wrong, but in that area. But these golf courses on the East coast have been there for decades, longer than anything we've ever had. Yeah, so it's, it's, it's just so. It's so different and it's so cool, like you know, crossing uh roads, you know like hole one. You go down there's a little lake and then you have to cross like a two-lane state highway kind of thing, and you know we don't have that out here, we don't.

Speaker 2:

We don't cross any streets or any state highways unless it's in like a residential yeah, residential area, like roads, ranch, you're crossing the whatever roads and dragon ridge you cross, but it's not like a, it's not a state road or, you know, a highway or anything you cross bowler highway on the way to chimera.

Speaker 1:

Yeah but I'm talking about why you're playing golf, jeremy, I know right used to process memorial road.

Speaker 4:

That's true royal, yeah, so royal. Thanks, I remember that very good, call vegas valley, yeah yeah and then uh, you drive under the summerland parkway when you go from four to five, I think on the Palmside Angel Park.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you do that, you do that, sure, when you go to one onto the mountainside too.

Speaker 4:

You go right underneath Rampart.

Speaker 2:

I would say it's a little different out there, but you guys are correct.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, we're pulling them out of our ass right now.

Speaker 2:

There's definitely no underground tunnels out in Delaware. But yeah it was good.

Speaker 1:

Did you see what BGC said in IG chat there, Joe?

Speaker 2:

I was trying to read it. Do you want me to read it? Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 2:

I saw non-vapors. Sorry to bail on you, gents. Ma decided to break her foot and has to have surgery, so rescheduling probably January or February. Joe, you're still on standby. Boys, we showed up last week to have first dibs. I appreciate that. There was only one person that picked up their. No, there was only one person that picked up their. Uh no, yeah, only one person that picked up their cheese curds only one person, and that is jeremy. Jeremy picked up cheese curds.

Speaker 1:

I ate cheese curds dude, I ate them like the next day I got cheese curds weeks ago yeah, I have time to pick them up matt did not pick up cheese curds dan I'm in your area you're at work so dan has no time you know I don't go out after five o'clock me and jeremy are starting a uh soccer team called called the the curds and uh, he just said it. He just said it right now, no excuse for not listening uh, juggling two toddlers in a very tiny way, way past their bedtime, when we were on all right.

Speaker 2:

Give it to these guys. I'm sure you'll have more fun with these guys, I'm sure have fun. Have fun mike, have fun, mike bitter joe is no, I ate that's the thing, though. I'm excited. I'm excited for whoever gets to play.

Speaker 1:

I'm sure it'll be a blast um did you, uh, did you get a logo ball from bitterman I did, and I I shopped the clearance rack.

Speaker 2:

So, uh, I do have a bitterman polo nice that I will be wearing nice. Um, yeah, I gotta get back. Miles is coming for super bowl, so we're gonna have to play with miles. Uh, sweet love to get him to coyote yeah thanks mike appreciate it I don't think he has oh oh nice, all right he was. He was telling me some stories because they're so close to Pennsylvania. He was telling me about a weekend that they had where they played Marion Maidstone Oakmont.

Speaker 1:

Just some real shitty courses in the area. Just some real trashy munis, some shit you could forget about some real shitty courses in there just some real like, some real trashy munis like yeah there's some you could forget about it. Yeah, he's. Miles is the man dude. I love miles. He is. Uh, he's awesome and he knows he absolutely punishes the golf ball too.

Speaker 2:

I mean, wow, it was none of us kept score. We were just having like a really good time out there. It was a good round, good Halloween round, real soul golf. It was fun. The member's name was Joe. Shout out, joe. Thanks for having us. It was awesome.

Speaker 2:

It was unlike anything I've ever experienced Golf-wise. It felt so different from any other golf course I've ever played Rightfully so. It felt so different from any other golf course I've ever played. It was rightfully so, it was so different. It was like you could see a long ways away. There was like no, it was so different than anything I've ever played. Uh, I tried to relate it to like. I was trying to relate it to a lot of things, but it was, it was different, it was so different. So it like took me a while to like really like figure out what was going on.

Speaker 1:

It was, it was cool, it was really cool bgc says there may be a maidstone tea time in our auction, in addition to sedge valley, lido, cherokee and a bunch of other privates night. Hey, when is the auction when?

Speaker 2:

soon. Yeah, you guys do this every year. What's well, let's drop the link below. Yeah, I'll get the link.

Speaker 1:

It'll be in the show notes and send everybody over there. Also, there is a UNLV women's golf fundraiser, a program that needs money. Honestly, it's very difficult, especially nowadays with the transfer portal and how quick kids change their mind and can relocate. Uh, keeping athletes in a program is very difficult and especially when you go to women's golf it's not like a high dollar, high funded uh program. So, uh, the women's UNLV golf team is having a fundraiser. I'll drop that in the link below.

Speaker 1:

Uh, anybody that's local wants to check it out. Las Vegas golf insiders got a link to it. It's on their, their social page too, but there's a UNLV men's golf bag in there. That's pretty sick, and there's also, you know, the football helmet, so you may have to. They got some tee times at golf courses on the cheap and some other swag in there, so make sure to hit that up.

Speaker 1:

November 26th is their auction Site's being built right now. Winston, when we have it, awesome, we'll do that. So we'll be putting that out and sharing it. They got I know Revere donated some times Boulder Creek, a couple other places, rio Seco, I think A lot of great courses, yeah, yeah. So all right, uh. So a couple couple, uh, golf things that uh, we can talk about. Um, we'll talk about where we played, uh, jeremy dan myself, uh, this weekend here in a little bit, uh, but there's, there's two golf things coming up in the next month and a half. Uh, the first one that's going to take place is the match superstars, and I sent this to you guys and we all kind of groaned oh god, uh, but they're, they're another rendition of the match, but, uh, this time it's, there's no golfers, uh, king griffey jr, michael phelps, wayne gretzky, blake griffith, uh, griffin, uh charles barkley, mark walberg, bill murray and nate bargaincy which nate bargaincy I love he's.

Speaker 1:

He's awesome, he's a big travis matthew fan and he's a huge golf nut, um, but he's never answered any of our messages for when he's in town touring to come play golf with us. So come on, nate um, and then mark walberg. Uh, he plays 18 holes in like 45 minutes, so not sure how that's gonna go with him out there, but I will give him credit. The municipal stuff is really good, so yeah, the shoes look great.

Speaker 1:

The new shoes just released. They look fantastic. I've got a pair of the pants. They are my favorite pair of pants that I wear right now. They are just absolutely incredible. So I'm sure we'll see a lot of municipal stuff out there.

Speaker 3:

Are they playing at Wynn? Sorry, you're about to say it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they're playing at the breakers west country club in west palm beach, florida. Okay, it recently reopened in 2022. Reese jones did a full, full remodel of the course. Uh, so they'll be doing that.

Speaker 2:

That's prime time on tnt these guys are gonna miss a lot of putts out there.

Speaker 1:

Fucking fucking reese jones man then we'll all fuck around on the greens so trevor emelman is back on the broadcast, but a new person is on the broadcast, this time A golfer who no longer has a tour to play on One lefty, pink-loving Bubba Watson.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I did see he left.

Speaker 1:

Well, he left.

Speaker 2:

He got what is it called?

Speaker 1:

Relegated.

Speaker 3:

Relegatedated yeah, he got retroed, bro, he got retroed. He's a full-time candy candy shop man.

Speaker 1:

Yeah yeah, so, uh, he'll be on the broadcast as an on-course reporter. So, um, of course, ernie. Ernie jones is that his name? Ernie johnson, who's a good basketball announcer, not a good golf announcer? Um, he'll be on the broadcast again with some other people, so that's the first thing that's taking place. So, um, is there anybody that you care about watching play golf on that?

Speaker 2:

no no do another creators? No, I think, I really think the tgl is going to wipe out a lot of these matches because it's going to get. I really, I like I know we've talked about it before, but I think the tgl coming up january 7th, I think it's gonna. I think it's gonna blow all of these the match things out of the water that's january 7th january 7th yeah, live on espn oh, it's gonna be oh well, I don't know if it's live, but it's gonna be on espn january.

Speaker 1:

That's what I was gonna ask if it was live, because I mean like the impact screen is like 24 times your typical impact screen.

Speaker 2:

It's gonna be. Oh it's gonna, it's gonna be sick I mean, they're hitting from 30 yards away. I think you know, in this downtime of golf, like we don't have a lot of golf to watch currently, let's look at taylor swift yeah, taylor, swift is on the broadcast.

Speaker 2:

The match is gonna suck, you know, but we don't. We don't have a lot of golf in this downtime, you know, and I think that's what they're trying to fill it with. And I'm the whole wing wing gretzky's a goat, like I get all that, but, um, none of those guys seem very interesting to me to listen to for two, three hours. Like I don't think they're going to be talking shit to each other to make it as entertaining as it should be. Um, like bryson and brooks pairing up, that could be interesting with scotty scheffler and rory, I know that's, that's coming up next, so can you not jump script?

Speaker 2:

yeah, but but that this is the whole thing right, because we're filling in the winter time, where golf is not on TV.

Speaker 1:

So hey, golf, and dad's tavern is chiming in. Uh, thanks for tuning in. Uh, the first one's tape supposed to be live after that.

Speaker 2:

All right, yeah, I think it's going to be. I think it's going to be great. I think I am more looking forward to TGL than any of these matches I've ever seen. You know that are upcoming. I think TGL is going to be awesome.

Speaker 1:

Personally, All right.

Speaker 2:

So Joe has invested in TGL, If anybody's sure about that let me know the ticker code and I'll throw some money on it. I've yet to. I'm I'm down with it. I think it's going to be fantastic.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think the course, like Rob, rob, you said, the course is going to be the star in that. Really, I think I'm more interested in seeing that than anyone else playing.

Speaker 2:

That is true, that is true the course is the hype man in these situations, for sure yeah, and hopefully, gosh.

Speaker 1:

I mean, come on, just listen to us, please, and highlight some of the course. Not have marshawn lynch in a golf cart. We just don't need that. We just don't need it. All right. So the other one, as joe alluded to uh, is, um, I don't even know if it's got a name yet, uh, but this takes place on December 17th at Shadow Creek. This is going to feature Scotty Scheffler and Rory McIlroy versus Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.

Speaker 2:

This is the place that we're all playing with Mike right as the fivesome. As the fivesome, yes $4 million per.

Speaker 1:

So, that's $2 two million each, or, uh, three million to the best player and one million to the the other guy, or or how they'll figure it out beautiful golf courses.

Speaker 2:

Follow him on instagram joe's favorite instagram account ever the best man, the greatest, the greatest course content you could have he's just gonna be reposting your stuff for a month, mike, so I'm pretty sure I'm the first one that that did those and I look at this instagram.

Speaker 3:

I'm pretty sure I was the one I think you were actually you know what? Yeah?

Speaker 1:

that sounds you know what it's it's funny because uh listening back at that episode, episode 66, four years ago. You missed that, dan uh yeah yeah, uh, we were talking because we used to do the rat fart segment and, uh, we were talking about that. And then, uh, I said uh, you know, we had some good feedback from the. Uh, look at this instagram last week when jeremy talked about beautiful golf courses. So I mean there's a, there's a lot of inter.

Speaker 4:

You know it's yeah, so joe, your nose looks brown in the camera. Jeremy, I know I knew you were the best for real.

Speaker 1:

I got cheese curds on your nose so the, the, those guys at shadow, um, it's going to be interesting. I mean, how much can we go back and look at the Brooks Bryson hating each other and the animosity?

Speaker 2:

They don't hate each other anymore, so it's over.

Speaker 1:

But you would think those are the last two that would be paired in an event like this. But I don't know.

Speaker 2:

Well, that's the thing. I think the merge is like probably already figured out, like it's gonna happen. So like, yeah, is it? Is it the? Is it the live verse? Pga like final bout, and then it happens. Are they trying to suck all the juice out the honeysuckles, or like what's happening you know so uh, golfing dad's tavern said this is going to be boring.

Speaker 1:

Bryson will be weird, of course.

Speaker 2:

Uh, brooks won't say anything, of course and they're all getting four, they're all getting four million and scotty will thank god the opportunity the whole time.

Speaker 1:

They still hate each other. Money made made them tolerate. Yeah, that is true. But, it's shadow, it's a lot of money, it's actual golfers. That's the thing that I'm excited about.

Speaker 2:

These are professionals. And on a course that we don't see very often.

Speaker 1:

I mean, do they need $4 million?

Speaker 2:

No, no, definitely not.

Speaker 1:

So it's not like they want to win this because there's something on the line. It's bragging rights. Um, I mean the. There was uh stories coming out that the pga tour and the live merger is done and you know the details will be coming out soon. Um, well, I don't know. We'll see what happens.

Speaker 2:

I haven't heard anything about the, the live schedule, except for some events overseas coming up so they may be holding off on that I think they know, I think they know again, I think they know it's coming, I think the merge is coming oh yeah, I mean, it's just a matter of time.

Speaker 1:

Something has to happen, something there's just something.

Speaker 2:

I think it's totally like a made-for-TV type movie. It's a golf is downtime and it's something to put on in front of golfers to create some sort of like rivalry situation and to get people to tune in. I think it's all a ploy, you know it's. It's a none of them. Brooks and bryson don't hate each other, like they might not be friends, but they don't hate each other. I don't believe and uh, I think it's just a ploy to get people tuned in to watch some golf when golf is in down season.

Speaker 2:

Yep, personally, yep, I would agree with that at a $1,250 tea time course, which is great, which is fucking crazy uh, we're gonna take our break and we will be right back don't miss the fall savings sale at las vegas golf superstore by worldwide golf this november 8th through the 11th get 20% off all demo and used clubs from all the top brands.

Speaker 5:

This is your chance to get that demo or used driver iron wedge or putter 20% off this November 8th through the 11th.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

He said night fellows have a good pod. Try to talk to my host about the 5-some Joe. You better have to mow some fairways after.

Speaker 2:

Hey, if you know me, I'm down to mow fairways, I'm down to punch cups, I am down to. I want to be an agronomist, but I can't because I'm too old now and I can't. I can't take that career path now. I'd have to start at the bottom.

Speaker 3:

No, it's too late, never too late don't give up on your dreams if you win the lottery, you could just build your own course come on, maryland, let's get these numbers.

Speaker 2:

When's that go off tonight, I think?

Speaker 4:

I think you probably already called it oh shit, you could be a multi-millionaire right now, not even know it exactly.

Speaker 2:

Bro might be going to Pine Valley soon. Mike, let's go. I'll take Dan and Jeremy and Mike. Wow, wow, I'll take Dan and Jeremy and Mike, wow.

Speaker 4:

Wow.

Speaker 1:

Wow.

Speaker 4:

No Pine Valley for Matt.

Speaker 1:

No Pine Valley for Matt.

Speaker 2:

That's tough bro. Wow, you can come too. I mean with that, Can I? There we go.

Speaker 1:

All you can come too. I mean with that, there we go.

Speaker 2:

All right, that's better we can get a five some with that money for sure.

Speaker 1:

Oh, yeah, yeah, absolutely, we'd be able to with that. Let's see, there's another update for everybody in the she's gaining. Where's my music? It's getting close.

Speaker 4:

She's gaining.

Speaker 1:

She's gaining on them.

Speaker 2:

This shit ain't gonna be decided till Saturday. You guys are way too hype.

Speaker 4:

Bro, this shit's not gonna be decided for like fucking till like December.

Speaker 1:

Might be able to afford a week in residence so many court cases. Till.

Speaker 2:

January 20th.

Speaker 1:

Joe, did you hear that Natty was charging locals $160. Was it $160? $190.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, National, yes, yeah.

Speaker 3:

It's not much better this weekend either around town.

Speaker 1:

It's wild.

Speaker 2:

SEMA is in town, I mean that's still too much.

Speaker 1:

That's still too much. Oh it's, it's way too much. Um, yeah, cliffy was out at black desert. Do you see that? I did see that. Yeah, yeah, he, he got the got out there to play. Um, he said that the greens were fast and flat and he wished they were slower and undulated.

Speaker 1:

But uh, told him about the the hidden tee box and and uh, he had. He had a good time out there, so that was fun. But uh, speaking of other golf, uh, jeremy, myself, matt boyd and jeremy's pops made our way around piute wolf on friday, jeremy yeah go into detail about the wrap it was.

Speaker 3:

It was really cold in the morning, like I took a long time to warm up.

Speaker 1:

You were stiff for a while.

Speaker 3:

The fingers were not working, but it was fun. As soon as it warmed up a little bit, the greens were slightly more receptive and it was just. It was Paiute like perfect conditions. It was in such good shape, Hardly any wind, I mean such good shape.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, weirdest thing ever so, hole 12, the par 3 on the back, uh, the you got to carry the water to get to the green. There were these gnats. They were everywhere and I mean they were like crawling on the inside of my glasses. Uh, they were like buzzing your ear. Jeremy hit a shot and just like one like flew up his nose right before he swung. It was, it was great, but there was no wind, and so it I was like I've never wanted winded by you, but please, a little breeze right now would be nice, because, wow, I've never. I mean, I've experienced the grasshoppers out there, but uh, that that was a weird one.

Speaker 1:

But man, it was weird pristine golf conditions yep, greens were so quick and my putter was on fire that day, oh oh, my putter was trash man I.

Speaker 3:

I hit like several putts five to ten feet by. It was jeremy was.

Speaker 1:

Jeremy was on the lab website was.

Speaker 3:

I was looking at lab putters.

Speaker 1:

Oh, no, hey, if I get a lab putter will you. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Who are you talking to? Jeremy Jordan Spieth might be getting a lab because I sent him a message on Instagram.

Speaker 1:

Jordan Spieth yeah.

Speaker 3:

I said, dude, I really need a lab, so can you please get one?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, jeremy, you had quite a few, so can you please get one? Yeah, jeremy, had. You had quite a few three-putts, didn't you?

Speaker 3:

I had like five in a row to start, yeah.

Speaker 4:

I'm a pretty good putter. I'm a damn good putter, he was the worst dude.

Speaker 3:

Play it, matt. Yeah, it's too quiet. I'm a pretty good putter. I'm a damn good putter. Yeah, it's too quiet.

Speaker 1:

I'm a pretty good putter, I'm a damn good putter.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he's a damn good putter, atp. They were fast, they were fast, they were firm. I mean I had a short little chip shot on one. I was at the bottom of the hill so I had to, you know, put it up in the air and it was, you know, I was short sighted a little bit and I landed it. I mean it was. It was not quite a flop shot, but close to a flop shot. And uh, it landed and I'm like, oh nice, and I got up there and it was 50 feet past the hole. Yeah, they were fast.

Speaker 1:

But I mean Paiute continues to just amaze everybody with the conditions.

Speaker 2:

I mean that's the best you can get out in Vegas. I mean it really is. I mean the conditions are even better than the private courses. I mean the conditions at Paiute are better than SoHi or wherever you want to go. I mean it might not be as crisp, clean, cut lines.

Speaker 1:

I couldn't find anything wrong and I was looking. That was like going away with how well it was.

Speaker 2:

So Summit is very crisp, everything's cut really crispy, right. But like it does not constitute the difference in pricing for Paiute, no chance in hell. Paiute is the best you can get in town 100% for the value and there's three courses yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 1:

We will be talking more about Paiute next week. Next week is our uh 300th episode. We're going to do our 2024 vegas rankings if joe and jeremy will turn in their rankings and uh, so we'll be never all about that next week. But we might not have joe's ratings because he just is I'll just fly off the cuff he. He'd rather listen to a new vinyl than help out grow the show.

Speaker 2:

I got two new vinyls. I got Tuxedo 4.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I need to write in a white Sharpie on that. Do my ratings first, before listening to this.

Speaker 2:

I know I do need to do that. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1:

Well, don't listen to the show, won't do his ratings.

Speaker 2:

Bro, I was out of town bro.

Speaker 1:

Had an airplane ride, car rides, wow, yeah, all right, okay, okay, other golf that took place. Dan and myself.

Speaker 2:

Also, last week was the first episode I've ever missed Was it though. It was the first one you missed recording. Ever, or listening to. Well, yeah, both.

Speaker 1:

Oh, so when you check out, you check out.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I went to Wegmans. That's actually amazing out. Yeah, I went to wegmans actually amazing, I'm in a wegmans. I I mean even when me and trey were driving back from riverside I had it on in the car and then I came home. The last 10 minutes I was here last week was the first one I've ever missed ever. How many of you missed?

Speaker 1:

uh yeah, but when I'm not there I tune in, I try to participate unfortunate circumstances with airlines oh difficult but that's the first one I missed.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, with, with help that.

Speaker 1:

That's another thing. You had help and and you didn't tell us that you tried guilting us into I'm hauling two kids across the country and you had an another parental uh, I did not have help picking up the rental car.

Speaker 2:

I did not have help putting in the car seats that I had no idea how they went into the car, and I also lost one of the pieces of the car, hopefully what piece did you?

Speaker 1:

the car did you lose?

Speaker 2:

yeah, you know that little thing that hangs over like the back part of like the mini suvs, it's like this little flap that goes up like it's a pointless piece, it doesn't't need to be there.

Speaker 3:

It's security. I left it in the parking lot.

Speaker 4:

I left it in the parking lot oh man, are they going to charge you for it?

Speaker 2:

Not yet.

Speaker 1:

They probably have no idea that it was in there. I hope not.

Speaker 2:

I hope not, but yeah, it was chaotic man. Yeah, yeah it is yeah, yeah, it's chaos all right. So and also that also, the houses in maryland are very small, all right there is no. There is no open concepts out there, bro. Everything is fucking small, like you're in a room. You're in a fucking room.

Speaker 3:

You're not in the house, you're in a room yeah, you go to another room, into another room, not an open, it's like clue.

Speaker 1:

It's like clue yeah and then he's showing us this, you know half acre backyard.

Speaker 2:

Backyards are a little different, but the house is like the candlestick with mr colonel mustard happen in this area and it's confined. Anyway, go ahead sorry all right.

Speaker 1:

Well, yeah, dan and I play.

Speaker 2:

I'm just saying I missed one episode and you guys are fucking kicking me out of golf courses and shit. You know, hey, I'm not doing anything.

Speaker 1:

No, no, no, this is this is what I, this is what I said to dan. He's like man, I feel bad and I'm like I don't. Joe's played, win for free. He's played summit for free. He just played uh, private for free. He played with the Golden Knights.

Speaker 2:

He's gone, abandoned he did not play with the Golden Knights.

Speaker 4:

I did not play. No, you didn't play. He pretty much said.

Speaker 2:

Joe.

Speaker 1:

Well, you played with OJ Simpson no, oh yeah, he was on the golf course when you were playing it was there same thing the.

Speaker 2:

Golden Knights were on the golf course when you were playing he was there Same thing, the Golden Knights were on the golf course while I was playing.

Speaker 1:

That was a Golden Knight event you attended, so a little different. Oj was not a part of the VGN tournament. What's up, chris? World famous in the house.

Speaker 1:

Yes, it was good running into the Shriners man, it was All right. So, revere Concord, world famous in the house. Yes, it was good running into the shriners man, it was all right. So, uh, revere concord, you know we always uh hype up lexington because it is, you know, the better of the two courses out there. I don't think anybody would disagree with that. But uh, dan and I, I I don't know if you agree, dan, if I can say that, but we were both really impressed with what the concord had going on.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I agree it was in good shape. I was pleasantly surprised Greens were healthy. Of course. Unfixed ball marks out there. People get better, Come on.

Speaker 1:

Clearly it was fun. We saw a hawk going to town on a rabbit.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that was nice.

Speaker 1:

Did they overseed? They did a mild overseed. The rough will be going dormant. So it'll have, uh, green fairways and dormant rough, uh. So that'll be a nice contrast to lexington being green all winter. But uh, course was in great shape. Course was in great shape. We got stuck behind a four ball.

Speaker 1:

That was man they were slow like slow, slow, uh, they let us go through on the, uh, the fifth hole, par three, and then, uh, you know we, we finished in like 340. So even with that slow start, it was great, uh, except course was in. Course was in really good shape. I was. I was pleasantly surprised. So, uh, lexington and concord are both now viable options for, uh, some golf and henderson. So get out there, get out there. I got uh playing thursday with woody and boyd and maybe chappin uh for a little practice round at a boulder creek. Uh, then I got my brother-in-law's coming into town, my sister, she hasn't been out here in in quite a few years. Uh, they're coming out. We're gonna go play sunday at legacy. And then, uh, we got tournament week.

Speaker 5:

Man, it's the the vg and oh yeah, check it out got the got the trophy here nice finals, finals trophy.

Speaker 1:

This is a little bit bigger than the regular ones.

Speaker 2:

Yeah they look good. Have you seen Joel's thing yet?

Speaker 1:

No, they're shipping. Hopefully by the end of this week. They'll be here next week.

Speaker 3:

So you haven't seen it at all I have not.

Speaker 1:

Cool, I have not, so I may keep those under wrap until I pull them out of the bag to hand them out. That way, a little bit more of a surprise for everybody.

Speaker 2:

He does great work. Shout out to Tomikov.

Speaker 1:

I did the scorecards different for this one. Normally I have the hole, the player's name, the handicap, your pops and all that stuff Went just real simple with this. It is your name, the yardage yardage and the hole and your box. Uh, and that's it. Uh, no pops or marks for anybody on any of them. I printed double score cards, so I'm going to uh redo the final day based on how well everybody played. So if you're in the lead, you'll go in the last group from that flight. Um, that will be for all flights. So after the round on saturday, everybody will get an update with what time they are going out on sunday and then we'll award our player of the year for 2024 season and then the push for 2025 begins. But that's all I got for that. Um, I got a new toy coming. I showed you, I showed you guys this earlier.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you do let me, uh, I I've been searching for a putter like this for a while and finally found it. Uh, this little gem, it's a beauty. It is a all milled Odyssey blade, plumber's neck. It's in great condition. I've been wanting an all milled face Odyssey putter for quite a long time. They're hard to find. They're hard to find in good condition. Odyssey just doesn't do them anymore. So excited for that. And, honestly, it just doesn't do them anymore. So excited for that. So you know that's going to get a LAGP shaft put in it 100%.

Speaker 3:

Did you get it for a good deal. I don't know what pricing is on those.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I did.

Speaker 3:

Nice.

Speaker 1:

Yes, it was a good deal Cool, excited about that. And then the last thing that I got, and then we can open it up to whoever wants to talk about anything is. We had a preview of the new line of products from Callaway last week at a private event at Topgolf. That's all under lock and key, but, uh, I did get to see it, I did get to hit it, I got to see the new putters from odyssey, uh, and I will say everybody's going to be pretty impressed with this stuff.

Speaker 2:

It's, it's good man, what'd you say, company?

Speaker 1:

man, company man, uh, yeah. So I I was, uh, I I was, I was. Yeah, there's some things that I I wasn't impressed about, and then there was some things that I was very impressed about. So look for that. Uh, those releases coming january, you know, as the pga show gets here at the end of january um, I'm sure you'll see it in some of the bags the new stuff with the Callaway staffers as the new year hits and those new tournaments hit. But, yeah, I think everybody's going to really like it. So hats off to Callaway, their R&D doing some good things.

Speaker 2:

So that's all I got got anybody got anything else that they want to chat about before we uh come to this uh election night uh episode I did see in the bag of miles brown some incredibly beautiful National Custom irons and they continue to be the grail of irons that I would love to have in my bag.

Speaker 3:

Man Did you hit one.

Speaker 2:

I did not. No, I did not ask to hit it. Why didn't you hit it? I didn not. No, I did not. I always hit it.

Speaker 1:

Why didn't you hit it?

Speaker 2:

I didn't even think about hitting them. They just look beautiful, they just look great. Like I didn't want to hit, I mean, I didn't even think about it. There were, like, they were marked with like, like there's like a small star, a big star and a large star, and then it changed throughout the bag, like you know they're. They're works of art, like they hey, you hit that maryland lotto.

Speaker 2:

I know what site you'll be on tomorrow oh yeah, well that if I did do, that, if that did happen, I would fly there go down to texas and get it done, absolutely get it fully done.

Speaker 1:

Um, yeah, the, the craftsmanship is beautiful golf guy hanging out on the ig chat. What's up, man?

Speaker 2:

yeah. So, um, yeah, that that that's to me, that's, that's the grail, that's the grail, that's the grail, that's the that's the grail. So I mean I love mira, I love seven, I love kioi, I love all that shit, but like national customs really gets my juices flowing, if you know what I mean all right, this is a.

Speaker 1:

This is a good question, dan. You hit the lotto. What? What golf gear are you buying?

Speaker 4:

oh, I hit the lotto man. Honestly, man, I'm on a Makino high right now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they're doing good shit.

Speaker 4:

I'd have to probably screw around with them and see what they can do, make me a one-off set, something like that, because the stuff I've been seeing coming out of their, out of their shop is is insane and uh, I mean there's so much beautiful clubs out there. I mean net, like joe said, national customs are great, qa, uh, sevens. But yeah, I'm really digging.

Speaker 2:

I'm really digging the makino stuff right now do you remember makino's sushi shop on Flamingo and Decatur?

Speaker 1:

Makino, do you?

Speaker 2:

remember that commercial? Do you remember that commercial?

Speaker 4:

It was like Makino? I don't think so. Isn't there like a Hawaiian joint in town too, makino's Hawaiian Grill, or something?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there's something. No, that's Meraki or Makai.

Speaker 4:

It's Makai yeah no, maybe it is makai.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but there was a sushi spot there was a sushi shop called makino jeremy. I remember that lotto winner.

Speaker 1:

What are you?

Speaker 2:

doing. He's already got mirrors.

Speaker 3:

So like yeah, I already have mirrors probably maybe some yururi hand forged black japanese irons that are just like made for me. My friend had, in utah, had a set of those made for him. They were like the sickest clubs I've ever seen and they have little japanese characters on them instead of the numbers, the shape of them. They trimmed them like they grinded them how he wanted them. They were incredible, but they were so tiny and hard to hit it was ridiculous. But probably some of those or artisan artisans are amazing yeah, the the artisan stuff is gorgeous.

Speaker 1:

Hey, go follow and check out Amigos. On the Green that's Trey and Juju. Trey's been on the show a lot. Julian works at Callaway. He's a master fitter. I'm under his tutelage, but they're putting out some great golf content on YouTube, so go give them a follow.

Speaker 4:

Also follow Juju's build shop I could be naming around, could be custom build shop but Juju's build shop. Congratulations on that, juju.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, yeah, it's got a great little setup and it was nice to actually go in and check my lofts and lies on everything. So that's a device I don't have in the garage shop. So, uh, yes, uh great great way juju's build shop

Speaker 3:

build shop you, jews, build shop. What about you, matt? What are you buying?

Speaker 1:

oh, you know what? It's a shop what about you?

Speaker 1:

matt, what are you buying? Oh, you know what it's, a. That that's I. I'd have to think long and hard what I'd want to do now. Um, I mean, because those, the, the artisan clubs, as beautiful as they are, and the national custom stuff, as much as I would, absolutely I'd probably want to go through the whole fitting process with them, just just cause, um, I, uh, I just don't think I could play those irons. I would look at like, you know, if you're a lot of winter, you got some money. So, uh, I may like make a trip down to uh SoCal and and go into the Scotty Cameron gallery and say, hey, I've got a wad of cash here. Can I get Cameron's ear and let's go through a fitting and have Scotty build me a putter? I think that would be something.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that would be incredible, because that's nothing you're doing unless you've got a shit ton of money or you're a tour professional. But I'm sure he does private fittings for millionaires.

Speaker 2:

Personal Scotty circle. T there for you Circle M. Circle Wang, circle Wang.

Speaker 1:

Circle Wang. Yeah, trey does have a seven-wheeler Opus coming. They still haven't shipped it yet. I don't know what's going on.

Speaker 3:

but and then Jeremy, jeremy really liked the Opus wedge oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, which I gotta talk about that uh, but whoo yeah, I did something about the setup and I think the opus, the heads, are slightly smaller than a voki, which I really like looking at, but I think, because you're you, yours is flat, like two degrees at least, right yeah it. It looked perfect. It felt like you could just get right under the ball, and it was. I mean, I don't know how much those ones spun, because they don't spin a ton at piute, but oh you were checking them hard.

Speaker 1:

we're on the. We're on a uh a green. And I got a putt and jeremy's just off the green and I said here, we're waiting for matt to come on a uh a green. And I got a putt and Jeremy's just off the green and I said I said here, while we're waiting for Matt to come up, I said why don't you hit a chip shot with this? And he hit it and he was like Hmm. And then you know he takes his putt. I make my putt, I'm like where's Jeremy? I look back, he's off the green, chipping, you know, with it, uh, so yeah, it's really good stuff.

Speaker 3:

So yeah, I'll be getting. I mean, the only problem is I like a 46. I have a voki and a 46 and I don't think they have an opus in a pitching wedge currently. Let me look and I'm like, because of ocd reasons, I'm like do I want to mix one Bokey?

Speaker 1:

with three Opus wedges 48's as low as it goes.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so maybe we'll probably figure that one out, but I'm still deciding if I want raw or black, because the black looked excellent. The black looked really good. We'll see.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, all right, they don't. Yeah, unfortunate, unfortunately. All right, anything else, anybody. Mueller, mueller, nobody, anybody. So final tally right now, that hasn't changed in a while, Trump still leads 232 to 216. Nevada is not going to release any of their information until all the votes have been cast, and apparently there was still a four hour line at a seven o'clock so yeah, shout out, shout out oh I mean, I guess I think he was in, yeah

Speaker 4:

got a polling station at Sherry's Chicken Ranch and shit.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, apparently they can't afford enough fucking polling stations.

Speaker 1:

The telecast they were saying the most expensive polling house in the world is the Allegiant Stadium.

Speaker 3:
