Hey, this is Brian Hurlburt, the Las Vegas Golf Insider. You're listening?
Speaker 2:to the Chasing Daylight Podcast. What's up everybody.
Speaker 3:What is up, everybody? Welcome, welcome, welcome to another episode of the Chasing Daylight Podcast. Or, as our favorite hole-in-one attempt-y Heshrack would say, it's Tuesday, it's Tuesday, yeah it is. So how's everybody feeling this evening? Good, good. How are you good I, you know, I've been better, I've been worse. Let's just leave it at that more days right, I've, I've got. I've got so much going on right here right now, with so many, it's not as bad as joe, crypto joe.
Speaker 5:So it's not. It's not that bad far from far from.
Speaker 2:But uh, yeah, I've got.
Speaker 3:I've got a lot of a lot of stuff going on in my brain right now. As far as golf goes, uh, I had kind of an epiphany moment today with the breakfast ball. Um, jeremy, thank you for reading the article and giving me some feedback on it. Um, so there's a lot of shit going on in my brain, so, and then I got surgery.
Speaker 2:Friday 7, 8, 45 yeah, that would fuck me up. That would. Yeah, that sucks for sure and uh.
Speaker 3:So you know, see what's going on. The good news is I got all my my checkups back for secure for uh surgery clearance. I'm doing fine, good health, nothing wrong with anything. Heart is pumping like a champ, lungs are looking good, everything's fine. So I'm I'm happy about that. Just get these knees fixed and then we'll be good to go.
Speaker 3:Um, but we are a golf podcast. We'll occasionally talk uh other life situations. Why am I the only one watching right now? I tell, tell more people and and uh, they'll, they'll come on. Uh. Thank you for being here, though. Uh, we are live on Instagram. We're live on YouTube. Thank you, everybody that is on YouTube hanging out watching us right now. We are also on Facebook and on X, so if you have a favorite place that you like to obtain your social media, we're on there, not Twitch or anything like that, but who knows, maybe one day in the future Also want to thank our show sponsors and supporters the Golf Stop Indoor Trackman Facility, the Lounge here in West Henderson, roars Golf, which I'm going to be talking about, roars here in a little bit, las Vegas Golf Superstore and, of course, scott Russo from Unwritten Law for allowing us to use Harmonic as our intro. Yeah, so hey, boyd's hanging out. He played some, uh well let's just say steven, jeremy and I played golf.
Speaker 3:Matt boyd was there participating, I don't know. Yeah, I'm gonna talk mad shit about him because he's a good golfer and he had a really bad day, uh, but and it was fun, it was fun to watch. So we've all been there. Not that fun, no. No, he was having a really bad day, uh, but and it was fun it was fun to watch, so we've all been there.
Speaker 3:Not that fun no, no, he was having a really bad day, really bad day, and uh, it happens, man, it happens he was the, the, the butt of a lot of jokes. Uh hey, thanks, chris. Uh, thanks for being a fan, thanks for hopping on. Tell everybody else about it so we can get more people on here. We love the interactions with people that tune into the show and listen to us rant or talk or laugh. We have a lot of fun.
Speaker 2:We've had some really good interactions the past few weeks.
Speaker 3:The rankings episode, I think, kind of jived a lot of people and, uh, when they tuned in, they saw how interactive it can be. Uh, we've, you know, ever since we've done the live stream. That's what we've we're aiming for, that's what we want. We want the people to interact with us. We, we want to get different opinions on what people have to say. And you?
Speaker 2:know next time.
Speaker 3:Next time we should label that episode uh, your favorite course sucks that is yes that is, that is I'm gonna I'm gonna write that down your favorite course sucks, because that is basically what most people thought when they when they watched and or listened to that.
Speaker 3:Uh, are you guys ever going to talk about the new drivers that just dropped? Uh, we will, once they're officially out there. Um, I have, of course, some insight on the callaway stuff, but can't really say a lot about it. Uh, the leaked photos and the conforming list that stuff comes out and people see it. It's getting a lot of hate, which that's fine by me. Hey, if you know what I probably wouldn't like the looks of it based on a really shitty image.
Speaker 5:I haven't seen the colored picture either, have you? I mean, you've seen it. They're all black and white.
Speaker 3:I've seen one. Yeah, it's got a Joe's background yeah it's very Costco vibes. You guys got a little Christmas vibe going on there. I like it.
Speaker 4:Yeah, Merry, Christmas guys.
Speaker 3:Yeah, merry Christmas, happy holidays. So yeah, we're going to be, absolutely, absolutely we're gonna be talking about him. Uh, ping's got a new one. Callaway's got a new one. Haven't seen or heard anything officially from taylor made, but you know they're gonna have one. Cobra's got a new one. Wilson's got the new one, which the wilson one looks really good. Uh, I think it has one of the best looking, you know from the preliminary photos. Um, the sms on tour, the guy that does a lot of the european what's in the bag stuff.
Speaker 2:He's, he's had some good pictures I mean, the only one we're not expecting is titleist, right yeah? Yeah everybody else is gonna have a new driver.
Speaker 3:Yeah, pretty much, pretty much and the bridge, though.
Speaker 5:Do you guys see the bridge, stone irons yes, I was gonna I wanted to send Bob a message going hey, it's time to that was your chance.
Speaker 3:They look fantastic yeah.
Speaker 4:Yeah, they do.
Speaker 3:So, uh, other thing in the golf news congratulations to our friend Mike out at a beautiful golf courses. They had their four Hadley auction over the weekend. Uh, hopefully some of you that watch the show or tune into the show participated in it. There was some amazing deals. We wanted to bid on a whole bunch but we kind of went for close to home but not close to home and uh ended up getting two really good looking privates up in payson, arizona. It's a little bit north of I thought it was near flagstaff for some reason the courses, but it's actually in payson, which is just a little north of the phoenix area.
Speaker 2:Uh, chaperone pines. Yeah, yeah, I thought one was in flagstaff. No, they're both in payson, they're both right across.
Speaker 4:We're almost right across the street from each other.
Speaker 5:Oh, nice, okay, what's?
Speaker 2:that.
Speaker 3:Joe. I said we're not playing the one I wanted to play, not if it's in Flagstaff.
Speaker 2:It is in Flagstaff. We can stop in Flagstaff.
Speaker 5:We can stop in Flagstaff. It's private. Though it's private, hey, we'll start reaching out.
Speaker 4:We'll start reaching out now Start to slime in those DMs, Joe.
Speaker 2:I think it's Pine Canyon. Is it Pine Canyon?
Speaker 3:Pine Canyon Pine Canyon yeah, that's the really sick one with the 19th hole.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I'm sure there's a crypto trader that's a member there.
Speaker 3:Yeah, joe, no, let's leave that at home.
Speaker 2:Let's leave that at home.
Speaker 3:So Chaparral Pines and the Rim.
Speaker 2:I'm also not a trader. I'm not a trader. I know. Investor.
Speaker 3:I'm an investor, investor chaparral pines and the rim those the two courses, will be playing. So if anybody that is listening or a fan of the show or on any of the live streams has played any of those courses, throw a little tidbit our way. Let us know how we did. Uh, you know two private courses in that area. It's 5 000 feet in pace and two. That's another thing.
Speaker 5:I wasn't sure um, so that's gonna be hitting it 225 yeah, baby, yeah, with new knees, with new knees actually, jeremy could attest I was driving the ball very well on sunday it's probably one of my best off the t days in a long time.
Speaker 3:Good yep, uh, I'm glad I didn't wait for the new callaway. Was on the fence for the last few months because I knew it was coming out but wanted the triple diamond max. Got the opportunity to get it for the cheaper price, had to do it. Yeah, that's a great. Actually, jeremy was playing the triple diamond max on sunday. Uh, what, what did you? What did you think? Jay? I, I know what you thought because I was there, but tell these guys because they weren't so I I feel like I I don't know that I gained distance.
Speaker 5:I think I hit it about the same as mine. I do think it's more forgiving than the, the tsr3 which of course tsr3 is not the most forgiving driver, but once I got the loft dialed in and it's still an adjustment to get used to the looks, but I like it I think I'd play one. I'd put one in the bag.
Speaker 3:You were hitting it. I mean, you hit some great shots.
Speaker 5:Yeah, high, and just little draws. Little baby draws, which is great.
Speaker 3:Not the big loopy draw that we normally see with Jeremy.
Speaker 2:It was a nice little little piercer yeah, I think that I think that the ai smoke, like, is pretty special. I think it's a special club like. I don't know, I haven't hit the new one, I don't know what the differences are yet, but I think the ai smoke is a pretty special driver and, uh, if you, if you see it on a good deal, you probably should grab it. Uh, you can go see Matt or Juju get fitted for it. Still Right.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah.
Speaker 2:But yeah, I, I love mine, I, I mean, it's my favorite driver I've ever had, I think. So it's, it's a great club, great club.
Speaker 3:Dan, you're going to. Are you going to do what you were talking about doing?
Speaker 4:Well, my driver, the triple diamond max, shows up tomorrow. So that's fully committed and we'll see. I'll let you know about the next time I see if I got new irons or not All right, all right.
Speaker 3:So we got three of the four of us are playing Callaway drivers. Three of the four of us are playing the Wilson golf ball. It's getting close, it's getting close, you know, we're, we're, we're there, we're getting close, we're getting close. So I also, at Revere, uh played a different seven iron. I got within the AI 200 and, uh, just to test it out out, uh, I've got some shafts coming from la golf. Thank you, nick, for helping me uh, facilitate that. I'm gonna try the. I've been playing the l series. I'm gonna try, uh, the a series and in a little bit lighter flex and see if I can help get the ball up in the air a little bit. Uh, with a different kick point on that shaft.
Speaker 3:And also it was funny because you guys all know this my irons, I hit them low, I hit them low and, um, steven jackson showed up on sunday and he didn't have the adeles in the bag and we asked him you know what's, how come you're playing the adele's? And he says you know what they? Just they come off the face really low. That was like they do. I would agree with you on that. Uh, so I was happy to see when I did hit that seven iron much higher ball flight with that ai 200.
Speaker 3:Um, I hit some shots that I did not think I would have got the distance that I got out of it with the Adele and the Adeles and the AI 200s. They are lofted the same. I strengthened the loft on the Adeles to be better for me and that's what the AI 200s are. So I'm excited. I'm excited to see, with the LA la shafts, what, what, how that club performs. It's going to be a little while before I get to figure it out, but I mean, for me a little while is two weeks, not like three months that some people can't play. So would like to get a shaft fitting with juju, then denali cameope. But just curious if I could game something from the better shaft. Only way to find out Come check it out. I responded.
Speaker 2:I responded, did you?
Speaker 3:Okay, good, oh yeah, absolutely. We don't have any public fittings right now, but we can schedule stuff at Las Vegas Superstore. We can schedule stuff at Topgolf. We can schedule stuff at Dragon Ridge coming soon. Schedule stuff at top golf. We schedule stuff at dragonwood coming soon. So cool, hit us up, let us know. Uh, me or juju will definitely help you out. Uh, boyd says what does boyd say? Here was laughlin ranch, the smoke turning point for matt and joe. If so, you're welcome.
Speaker 2:Uh I don't think so. I it was a turning point for you.
Speaker 3:Maybe I think, yeah, it was it, it was, it was for me, cause I, I mean, I hit it really well and that intrigued me. That intrigued me. So I went and did some digging and did some data points and some swings and and, uh, yeah, okay, thank you. That would you want. Do you want to thank you? Thank you, matt.
Speaker 2:Yeah, thanks, matt Boyd. You're the greatest guy that has ever played golf. Man, you're the greatest person I've ever known. You are just absolutely spectacular man.
Speaker 3:You are my world, matt Boyd. He sent a message earlier today. It was hilarious. Where did he go? Where did he go? He said, matt, if you need a, massage.
Speaker 5:Joe is your man.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but you got to hit me up on Facebook first.
Speaker 3:It said Matt and Jeremy Stephen is being a bad influence on me. I'm teetering. So Stephen chimes in lab is better than Scotty. He said ouch, them are fighting words. And I said said the lab putter won't fix your shanks.
Speaker 5:So uh, he actually putted. Not, he didn't putt, terribly the thing that was working.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it's no, no, I mean.
Speaker 2:So what putters? It's like it's not. It's not what's better, it's what works for you, so get over all that shit. Yes, that's true 100%, it's a paintbrush. It's a paintbrush.
Speaker 4:What irons was Steven playing?
Speaker 3:Spiritsons. Oh okay, he's got a combo set of the ZX-5 and 7s.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 3:Well, that's your hack. He says how about the new lab, mallet putter? So, uh, mr jackson, yeah, it would have been with him on sunday had fedex not done a typical fedex move and went. There's a delay in your shipping. It's been in vegas for 24 hours and we don't know where the fuck it is. So, um it, it showed up while we were playing, otherwise we would have would have seen it.
Speaker 3:But if any of you out there follow the breakfast ball, the my other ig account that is related to the breakfast ball website, the golf blog that I started back in 2009, mainly been a review site for the past I don't know six, seven years and years, and, uh, I've kind of got away from it because I've been running a golf league and doing a podcast and, you know, putting kids through high school and college. So it's kind of taken a step back and I'm kind of at a conundrum what I'm going to do with it. And uh, so I I was thinking I wrote an article today, just kind of like where my headspace is with that, and I'm thinking about doing. I called it, what did I call it? What did I call it, jeremy? I can't even remember the words. It was hilarious.
Speaker 2:Visual pollution.
Speaker 3:No, no, no. Brutally honest, brutally honest, Brutally honest golf reviews, yeah. And so I reached out to Steven and I said, hey, I'm thinking about doing something different with the reviews on the breakfast ball. And I sent him a screenshot of brutally honest golf reviews and he's like, yes, let's do it. So he's like, yes, let's do it, so he's game. So, uh, I may, I may, meet up with him on thursday, if possible to, uh, you know, shoot a little footage and get some, get some hands on it and see, oh yeah I think it looks way better than the others.
Speaker 5:Should I switch over?
Speaker 2:here to.
Speaker 3:YouTube, so I didn't see the replay about the shaft.
Speaker 2:Oh, Hit up Matt or hit up Juju. Yeah, hit up at Juju Build Shop or at my so-called golf life. They are fitters for Callaway. You can schedule a fitting with them at the Las Vegas Golf Superstore, dragon Ridge, kono. Hit either of them up and they will get you dialed in thanks joe, just your neighborhood crypto man.
Speaker 3:Uh, yeah, so, hopefully, hopefully, uh, I've, I've got, uh, the new municipal golf shoes. Uh came in and uh, so that I think might be the very first brutally honest golf review that I do. Um, and I don't know, I was having a good discussion with cliff about this, because cliff is the only one who voted no on my poll of uh if this is needed or not.
Speaker 2:Yeah, cliff's brutally honest. Very, very, and he had some very valid points.
Speaker 3:He had some very valid points and so I, you know, in order, you know, and I've been doing reviews for a long time and the golf space has changed dramatically, you know, ever since COVID. Just, you know, brands have learned how to do marketing better on their own instead of relying on other people to do it for them. They have a little bit more control of what gets put out and I think it's a very effective marketing strategy. You know, print media or blogs, they are dinosaurs right now. There's just not a lot out there that are still going strong like there was 10 years ago when everybody had a golf blog and everybody was doing reviews.
Speaker 3:Youtube has changed the game tremendously and that's one of the things I said in the article. You know, I, I love writing, I love creating, I love taking pictures, I love doing all stuff, but it also sucks because it's a lot of work for not a lot of attaboy. You deal with some companies that are amazing and I said I cherish the friendships more than the free gear that I got for doing the reviews, Because I've met some incredible, amazing people and have some, still to this day, fantastic friendship going back 10, 12 years. But you know I, I don't have the time nor the crew to do a video review on a lot of stuff. I don't have the access to the golf courses that we'd like in order to do it, I don't have the funds to play golf as much, to shoot as much as I'd like to, and the editing it's just. It's work, man, it is work. So I told Cliff, I said you know, I want to do something different. I'm not looking to disrupt the space. There's reviews out there and the people that do them, that are successful right now, kill it. Much kudos to them, hats off, keep doing it, keep doing it.
Speaker 3:But, that being said, I think there is a lot of restrictions these writers put on themselves to maintain a positive relationship with these brands, and I understand that because I've been there. I've been told you can't say this. You need to say this. This needs to be your focus point. You know. And with receiving goods like that, yeah, you got to stay under that umbrella, you got to stay under their window, obtaining the shit on our own. I't have that and you know it sounds like brutally honest is going to be only bad shit to say. And and that's not true. I'll tangent it with this real quick and then we can get on to the other stuff. I saw a clip.
Speaker 3:Some guy was talking about uh uber and he said that you know the stigmatism that Uber has right now, that is, if it's not five stars, it sucked. And he said and that's just not true. He said, you know, if you get in an Uber ride, unless they have water, unless they pull your bags out of the trunk, unless they offer you a breath mint, it's not a five-star ride. There's people that are going above and beyond and those people deserve a five-star ride. There's people that are going above and beyond and those people deserve the five-star reviews. So he says I'll, I'll get in the I'll, I'll hop in a car. The guy pops a trunk and says see ya, you know, no water, no, no breath mint or whatever, and it doesn't help me get my bag out.
Speaker 3:Okay, three stars. And they're like Whoa, what was wrong? Nothing was wrong. It was a good ride, you know. But was it five stars? No, it wasn't. And so I think, and even with the reviews that I've done, it's very easy to say something's amazing, something's outstanding, something's fantastic, something is a game changer. Game changer is a word I use way too much. So I kind of want to dial it back a little bit and and have have a spot where I can say things brutally honestly that hey, this is a good driver, this is not the best driver in the world, this is not going to shave 10 strokes off your game. It's a good driver at 700 is way fucking overpriced. You know um, stuff like that it doesn't always have to be bad, you know what's so funny is I remember something is bad I'm gonna say it instead of having my hands cuffed because that's not accepted.
Speaker 2:So go ahead what's so funny is I remember I watched, like, this little mini documentary, dan, you know, um, between uh, it was about chinese food restaurants and it was like I've never ate at like a bad chinese fast food or chinese restaurant that was rated between three and four stars. Like for chinese restaurants, the sweet spot is between three and four stars. You know, you know, because you know you're you're, you're taking Chinese takeout. There's no customer service who gives a fuck. Right, like you're not going to get a five star out of this. Some you know, picking it up and there's plexiglass and they, they don't give a shit. You know they're just giving you a bag.
Speaker 2:But yeah, and it's kind of funny, like some of the best Chinese food I've had is between three and four stars on Yelp for Google, for other people that are psychotic. But you know it's funny, though, because a rating is so subjective by so many people and you really got to dive deep into the criteria of what people are rating those things on. So it's like it's one person's perspective. You know it's not, it's not the population's perspective, and that's where it comes into fruition, like it is your brutally honest opinion on one thing and that can vary between person to person absolutely, absolutely.
Speaker 3:And cliff, you know, says here uh, I think there's a isn't really a lot of bad equipment anymore. That's the hard part. Very, very true. Technology has made incredible advancements in in presenting, you know, mediocre equipment as really good equipment.
Speaker 3:So also MSG makes food taste better, so you know, I have access to a track man or not trackman, to foresight now, or gc quad, so I have, I have access to a little bit more data so I can dig into that a little bit more. I have a lot more knowledge on the fitting side of things so I can dig in a little bit deeper. You know, and and it doesn't always have to be about equipment you know there's, there's uh, shoes and hats and apparel and you know, uh, I wouldn't have a negative thing to say about this roebuck, roebuck, roebuck, uh, azalea hoodie, um, except that they're not available because they sell out so fast. You know, um, so we'll see, we'll see. You know the, the municipal shoes I I told these guys they killed it.
Speaker 3:It's, it is a fantastically comfortable golf shoe. The tread seems great, it feels great walking around in it, but the laces suck ass and I just don't understand how you can have 98 of a shoe near flawless and then screw up the laces. So I mean, but and that will be, you know, a brilliant. That's my take on it. You know some people will go, hey, these laces are sick, but yeah, so so we'll see, golf is not very different.
Speaker 3:It's the people and how the swing a club yeah, yeah, I mean, it's just.
Speaker 2:I mean, everybody swings club very differently, everybody likes different golf courses. Every golf course is different, every pin position is different, every day is different, and that that's the thing, man, that's, that's the dj ryan is in the house.
Speaker 3:What's?
Speaker 2:up mr utah golf utah golf. How many, how many decks have you sold over? How many martinis did you make today?
Speaker 3:oh, he is. That man is living the life, boy. Good, good grief. Oh, man was just in tokyo for a week. Gosh, hey, you're doing. You're doing all right there, right, don't let anybody else tell you different not that they need to go crash his saint george uh, airbnb thing.
Speaker 2:That's what we need to do, ryan, let us come out there, we'll go play golf. Let us just stay at your place.
Speaker 3:We'll take care of it, don't worry about it all right, um, so I said I'd mention roars here in a little bit. Uh, we got an episode of fitter builder player coming up. Roars has been doing something that is pretty unique and, uh, I don't want to, I don't want to let too much out of the bag, but he gets to fit across all makes. You know they're not Shell Bay, isn't a Callaway facility. They have everything there. He has accounts with every brand, every manufacturer, every shaft, every grip, so he has quite a fitting arsenal and he has been putting together data over the last year and, uh, we're going to be putting some of that out on the next episode. So if you're a data junkie, a geek junkie when it comes to numbers, it's going to be a great one to tune into. And then also, we'll keep it with shelby and roars. Did you guys watch breaking 50? Yeah, I haven't watched it?
Speaker 3:I have not watched it yet, but I saw that they were at shelby yeah, so the tom brady, uh, bryson breaking 50, the final episode of his season. One of this was shot at shelby. I see roars in the background of one of tom's videos, not bryson's videos, he's hanging out there when they were having the driving contest. Um, but, uh, very, very challenging golf course, uh, water everywhere, small fairway, small greens, uh, and there were some putts that were crazy, yeah that they had to hit on that. So, uh, check that out. And then on tom brady's channel he's got the driving contest where they they gave bryson, uh senior flex, a ladies flex, a regular flex and a stiff flex driver and, uh, he had to try and outdrive tom brady with tom brady's own personal driver and he came very close to doing it. So it was, it was a good watch. And then the other thing, on bryson, he got his hole-in-one he did, he did, yeah, he did, he got his hole-in-one I.
Speaker 3:I really wanted to see him get up to 35, 40, 50 shots, but yeah 16. But did you have you guys seen that account that does the drawings, that breaks down all the numbers for sports?
Speaker 5:Okay, I'll make sure to add them.
Speaker 3:I'll make sure to add them to the show notes. It's just hand sketchinging and they go over numbers. They did the F1 race in Vegas. They do baseball, basketball, all kinds of different sports, but they broke down what he did as far as growing social media with his two and a half million views per reel that he was posting on.
Speaker 3:That it's, it's crazy. So I'll, uh, maybe I'll look at that real quick during the commercial break and have it when we get back. So, uh, and then other news the lpga is in search of a new commissioner, and I think that's all I got greg norman. Every time I see something with Greg Norman, it seems like he's gone. And then there's a new story about Greg Norman leaving two weeks later. What? What is up with Greg Norman?
Speaker 4:Who knows, I don't even really know. I just saw something like he's not going to be the what's his title with live anyway, I don't know it's changed. Manager. Hasn't it Manager or cheerleader or something like that? Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5:Who knows? Yeah, I saw Tony Finau pulled out of the tournament. I think he's heading.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, that was something. I had written off to the side here. Liv, yeah, tony Finau rumors of him creating a 14th team with Liv and him going that route.
Speaker 2:Get it while you can. I mean it's going to come together. I mean at some point there's no doubt about it in my mind, like it has to A 14th team.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I don't even know if that's right. That's what I read. I don't know, do they have that many teams?
Speaker 4:I don't know. That's what I read.
Speaker 5:I don't do they have?
Speaker 4:that many teams.
Speaker 5:I don't know I mean so many rumors 13 teams.
Speaker 4:Yeah, because they have also as it is his buddy, john Robb, aren't they? Aren't they like besties?
Speaker 3:yeah, I have no idea. I don't know. Are they?
Speaker 5:they're friends I don't know, they play silver leaf together a lot oh, that's right, they're both.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's yeah, so I'm not.
Speaker 2:I'm not gonna disclose fully what matt boyd text me, but, um, oh, it was. Yeah, uh, but he did ask if we would bring up bandon. And, uh, it would not be a chasing down that podcast if we did not bring a band in. But did you guys see that it's switching to a, like a?
Speaker 1:lottery system.
Speaker 2:Yeah, which is very interesting. When I played in delaware with uh miles brown, he was saying he had he's been calling every week just trying to get in. Trying to get in. Every week he calls and nothing, nothing, nothing. So it seems like there might be a new wave of a reservation booking at band and so I'm glad we got that in this year.
Speaker 2:Um, because and that's for 2026, not next year yeah, they're probably already sold out for 2025, so it might be very difficult to get eight people out there abandoned like on a on a lottery.
Speaker 3:That's gonna be tough in the future well, I wonder if, I wonder if, uh, you win the lottery and then you have so much time to get your reservation locked in, yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2:I don't know what it is, because I mean throw your name in the lottery. Does that? Is that only for a four ball, or is that as many as you want, or um, but yeah, tides are turning, which is interesting. I mean high demand at the greatest place in the these messages.
Speaker 1:We'll be right back if I can find it here we go tease the season at las vegas call superstore by worldwide golf for holiday specials. Speaker 3:Get there Get there. I quickly found it. It is underscore sports ball, underscore sports ball, and I'll just play one of these real quick so you can see they do stuff like this. They draw it all. Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:I've seen those. I've seen those yeah.
Speaker 3:So they have some really creative ones. They just did this. Have some really creative ones. They just did this was the F1 race. It's really creative what they do.
Speaker 2:I loved how they broke down the NHL teams and how they make their money and how the players recoup the money. That was really interesting.
Speaker 3:This is the Bryson one. They go into a lot of detail. It's pretty cool stuff.
Speaker 4:Did you see how some people had Bryson's house and shit on their trackmans.
Speaker 1:Yeah, on their trackmans and sims.
Speaker 4:I couldn't tell you who did them, but I've seen a couple of people that were trying that same shot. I was like what the fuck? How do they get hilarious?
Speaker 3:and then the the kid. Do you see the kid with?
Speaker 1:the phone balls over his garage. That was amazing.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that was so good, so it's. It's hilarious how many people are doing it. We just need heshrac to make his yes, come on then, good vibes out to indiana, and hey, I don't think you have to do it every single day. If there's a freeze, you can take a day off, no one's gonna no, no, every day, oh nobody likes I respect them.
Speaker 2:I respect the motivation. Do it every fucking day. Do it Every day, doesn't matter, don't let nobody fudge you, bro, it's just all day, every day, fear, uncertainty and doubt. You got this.
Speaker 3:Can't wait for you to make it. It's going to be fun. I'm looking forward to that when he nails it. I got all my stuff out early. Let's do this, let's do this. If you had a golf Christmas wish list and you just happened to pop up on Santa Claus and he's like, you know you've been a good boy this year. What do you want? What are you asking Santa for? You get one ask.
Speaker 2:I know mine, you guys can go.
Speaker 3:Well, we know Joe wants crypto, so that's no no, santa, just give me some crypto. That's not what he wants.
Speaker 4:Joe wants those national customs or something like that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I would say, I would say I, yeah, I would say go see D-Dub and those boys down there, national Custom full bag fitting irons wedges. You know, mold them up for me and let's get it. That would be me. Stamp them with HGs and the logo and that's me right there.
Speaker 3:Anything I want.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5:Have we done this. It sounds familiar yeah.
Speaker 3:I don't know.
Speaker 5:You don't know, maybe new wedges, four new wedges. I need new wedges pretty bad.
Speaker 2:What kind of wedges Boring?
Speaker 5:I don't know, maybe Opus, but maybe vokies again, just to stick with tradition no, wedge works yeah, you get anything you want there'll be wedge works and there'll be raw finish and some stamping and all that. But I don't think I'd actually pay for that because they're like they don't end up being like 275 a piece no, no, santa is giving it to you.
Speaker 2:Did you not hear what matt said?
Speaker 5:yeah, yeah, I'm just saying I don't think I would definitely like pimp them out for sure, because I'm not paying for that out of pocket.
Speaker 3:So if santa's bringing them, I'm going wedge. You can get stamped on them.
Speaker 2:Santa claus is awesome yeah, santa claus is real, it's real, it's real.
Speaker 3:Dan what are you going?
Speaker 4:for I mean.
Speaker 2:I'm happy with.
Speaker 4:I'm pretty much I mean yeah, that would be fantastic, but what are you doing?
Speaker 2:He goes. No, I mean yeah, yeah, yeah, that'd be fantastic but uh, no, golf trip, for sure I'd be.
Speaker 4:I'd be like saying I want to a trip to you know where edie give me. Yeah, terry edie or yeah, you know let's hop in the sleigh and drop me off in New Zealand. What's that spot in Turkey when they have like 297?
Speaker 3:holes, 40 golf courses on the ocean there.
Speaker 4:Yeah, yeah yeah, thank you, santa.
Speaker 3:And you get some hair transplant while you're there.
Speaker 4:I don't need that, I'm good.
Speaker 3:You got the best ones over there, though.
Speaker 2:Did you see that guy?
Speaker 3:He's like I think we're all here for the same reason and he's on an airplane to Turkey and there's like nothing but bald guys, yeah, yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:Cyrus though.
Speaker 5:Cyrus, oh yeah.
Speaker 3:That dude's got a lock of hair. Now, boy Woo they put in that fertilizer. Good grief, good grief, all right. So, grief, good grief, all right. So that was one thing. What else we got? I know it's a down time of the year for golf, but All right, so I'll ask Jeremy this Okay. We just played Revere. We played Lexington Course is in good shape. Do you feel that it ended up on the ratings where it should have been?
Speaker 5:Do you remember the number it's at right now?
Speaker 3:Yeah, I'm looking right now, we had Lexington at 21.
Speaker 5:21?, 21?. I would say it's probably okay where it's at, maybe a couple higher, a couple lower maybe.
Speaker 3:So Jeremy slummed it with us up the gold tees. He didn't play back yeah so he played a completely different golf course. How different was that for you?
Speaker 5:it was way different. Like some of those, I found that, uh, at the back tees a lot of the and usually they put them back. Sometimes they'll put, like the back tee up up a box, so I feel like it's a lot of the bunkers and things that you normally would be in play from the back tees weren't really like you can carry some of the bunkers or the par threes were a lot shorter. It felt like par fives were definitely shorter, but I mean, it's, it's. That's the cool thing about any course is you can play the back tees, you can play the front tees or in the middle, and it's a different, it's a different game. Yeah, that's the cool thing about any courses you can play the back tees, you can play the front tees or in the middle, and it's a different, it's a different game.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's what I you're hitting different shots.
Speaker 5:I mean sometimes it's one club, sometimes it's three clubs different, so it's it makes it interesting.
Speaker 3:So I like the the playability part of our ratings, because Lexington does have a lot of playability yeah and it is.
Speaker 3:It's not like you're moving from the front of one box to the back of that same box, you're. You're changing topography, there's elevation changes and angles, and you know, like you hadn't hit from the lower box on the right side, on two, um yep, and you never hit, from there to where almost the raiders practice facility is out of sight because those trees are so high. So it's, it was it comes, and that's what. I think that playability really comes into play for some courses where it doesn't for others.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I, I think. So I think it probably could have. I mean, it was in really good shape. I wasn't in. I don't think I hit it in a bunker, but I know how the bunkers can be some of them are okay, some of them are not.
Speaker 3:Oh, you had one, you had one, the t-shot that we both were real close to each other oh yeah, yeah, that was that one was fine.
Speaker 5:The fairway bunkers, I don't mind if there's no sand in them, it's the green side ones when you're short-sighted it's, it's tricky, but I don't know. I I think it was, it was okay where it was at. It was just you know ballpark fixing and feeling divots in the middle of the fairways and the typical yeah, but it's a great course. I love Lexington.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it is fun.
Speaker 1:Joe.
Speaker 3:Joe, what are you? What are you up to? What are you?
Speaker 2:doing. I was like I'm on, I'm on x right now. Sorry, sorry guys. No, no, no, I was messaging some uh people. Nobody's seen joe for 12 days, so he's pretty much he's been in a closet I know, I know jared's growing mushrooms in a dark closet he's gonna be over those guys on the the unit unit pad with his.
Speaker 3:Apple glasses on just driving down the street just going like this, just trading, trading, trading.
Speaker 2:Look, I will say, okay, Like, I know it's, I know it's a joke, right. And we said it. I said it I know, I know, I know, I know, I know you're having fun with me and I know it's been a joke, but um and katie's giving me shit like she thinks I'm having like a fucking midlife crisis.
Speaker 3:But um, but we did all text her and ask her if you were okay.
Speaker 2:So yeah, uh, I am fine. Um, you know, the worst comes to worst. I lose 1300, 1500, I lose $1,300, $1,500.
Speaker 3:It is what it is.
Speaker 2:I had numbers in the chat. Yeah, it's just, you know, it's the bull run, it's the bull run, bull run. I'm just excited. I don't even know what to say because I don't want to out it. But you guys make fun of me being a crypto guy, but there's a lot of money to be made and I'm excited for that. That's all I'm going to say. And all joking aside.
Speaker 3:Joe is seriously getting into this and is incredibly knowledgeable. He talks to us about it.
Speaker 2:Far from it Like that meme with the numbers just flying around.
Speaker 3:We have no idea what the hell he's saying.
Speaker 2:But yeah, I, I respect the dedication and the desire to learn and, uh, we need a fucking bigger house, you know I'm trying to get this bigger house because we need a bigger fucking house.
Speaker 5:I need a swing studio in the backyard and you missed all the golf talks I don't have to tell you yeah, joe's, the jo Joe's the type of person that doesn't just dip the toe in the pool, he's jumping in, he's like full on.
Speaker 2:That's what Katie said, she's like I'm worried because when you go in, you go in Go in. Yeah, but I've been in for a long time. So it's just, I found some good people in for a long time. So you know, it's just, uh, I found some good people and uh, you know, I gotta teach you guys a little bit, that's for sure I definitely do.
Speaker 3:Always the geezers always up for some education the geezers for sure all right, so have. Uh, did we kind of decide? May is going to be the time when we look to go to to az I think so mid-may, late may, yeah, yeah, it starts getting hot here we cool off a little bit at 5 000 feet hitting some 270 yard bombs chill 225 chill hey, hey, new knees, new yeah he's going to be able to fire off, yeah new knees.
Speaker 3:The ground is going to be like what is this? I am not used to this, so I am pumped. I'm not looking forward to Friday afternoon, saturday morning. If the golf gods and the NCAA football gods are on my side Friday afternoon, we get some of this up in Boise. They get a chance.
Speaker 4:It's going to be a really good football game.
Speaker 2:There's the red numbers. Did you see him? He's at Flagstaff. No Payson, payson, but we do need to play. What's the course I Did?
Speaker 3:you see him, he's at Flagstaff. No Payson, payson, but we do need to play.
Speaker 2:What's the course I said Pine Canyon, pine Canyon, pine Canyon. I want to play Pine Canyon, so bad.
Speaker 4:So, matt, quick question After your double knee surgery, are you going to be like, immobilized, like, are you going to be like in a wheelchair?
Speaker 3:No, mobilize, like, are you going to be like in a wheelchair or are you gonna be? She said I'll walk out crutches. Oh yeah, she said I'll walk out. And then, uh, yeah, just take it easy. Uh, I've been, dr dumbler told me, uh, two to three weeks max before I can full swing.
Speaker 2:So so steve was saying uh, like zaff, first highlands, forest highlands forest high so what we did.
Speaker 2:What we did was we we um got in on the auction from beautiful golf courses for hadley auction. Uh, at beautiful golf courses if you didn't listen to last week or two weeks ago, right two weeks ago, two weeks ago, episode uh, they put on an auction, an auction to be able to play courses around the country and bid on those. So we bid on a couple that are private down in Payson Arizona. We won them, and that's what we're talking about, steve. Chaparral Pines in Payson and the Rim Rim job. Rim job.
Speaker 4:I keep on saying that Rim job.
Speaker 3:We're going to show up at the gate. They're like can I help you? Yeah, we're here for the Rim Jobs R-J-C-C R-J-C-C. Rim Job Country.
Speaker 5:Club Hopefully they didn't listen.
Speaker 2:But I was going to say, if you're listening, and we can hit Flagstaff and play Pine Canyon if you have a hookup. That's what I was going to say.
Speaker 3:Yes, talk to some members for us out there. It's so high that place is so sick and I love Flagstaff.
Speaker 2:I love Flagstaff. I've only been there one time. I loved that little town. Man, that place is sick. I loved it out there.
Speaker 3:Rural Arizona Highway, town Right. Well, if you guys ain't got anything else, I got nothing else. Joe, are you going to play golf again or are you just going to ride this out?
Speaker 2:No, I'm playing on Saturday for a little work thing. One of our vendors and it was going to be me one of our vendors, sean wood and red drop, but red drop is not available. So me, sean wood, one of our vendors for work, and I think someone else from my work. But, um, we're gonna go play tpc las vegas at 11 54 am saturday morning.
Speaker 3:I've been there in a long time plumber territory and yeah, fully taken care of, don't have to pay for tea time uh, free, free, free, free because shout out. Uh, we give um av strategy a lot of business oh, I thought you were gonna say we, we touted up tbc vegas in the rankings. No, no, no, no no.
Speaker 2:So they're uh av strategy. If you need any, if you need to rent any av equipment in las vegas, av strategy is the way to go. We give them a lot of business. A friend of mine that oversees the operation out here his name's eric really good dude um and I went to go to their warehouse and he was like, hey, let's treat you to a round of golf one of these days. So so I was like, yeah, let's do it, and yeah, we're doing that this Saturday. I'm excited. I haven't been to TPC Las Vegas in a long time, so that should be fun. I haven't played with Sean Wood in a long time, so it'll be a good time.
Speaker 3:He played right in front of other than for two days. Yeah, it's kind of like you did. Yeah, uh, well, you have fun with that. Uh, jeremy dan, you guys got any plans for the weekend I don't have anything.
Speaker 5:I think dan's just like in work mode for the next couple weeks.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah, you're, you're checked out yeah, yeah, pretty much. I'll see you guys next year if you guys want to come up to the house and and watch the football game with me, you're more than welcome to. I will be in the recliner, fully medicated. That would be fun conversation to be around, uh so.
Speaker 2:It's spilling all the beans.
Speaker 3:Uh yeah, I have to tell my wife make sure I don't talk about calloway stuff while I'm medicated calloway's got a new ai face hey, the the square to square putters are available now. You can buy them. They are out. Uh, if you're go check out the golf shops, uh, check them out. If uh, we'll, we'll have some demos shortly.
Speaker 2:I think we might have talked about this recently, but like, how does that work the square to square with the lab? Did we talk about this? It's, it is it infringing on a concept or no no, you did we talk about this?
Speaker 3:though it's. It's just a center, shafted putter, where the weight distribution it doesn't have toe. Hang it's you, it's just free. It's free it's. They call zero torque.
Speaker 2:That's what lab calls it, that's what everybody's calling it well did they put it in the contraption, where it's like I don't know if they've put it in labs revealer or not, but uh, I haven't seen that.
Speaker 3:I'm sure, now that they're available, it's going to happen. It's just a matter of time. Um so, we, we shall see, I'm curious.
Speaker 2:I'm curious if anything will come of that, like I mean if if lab was able to patent anything based on their discoveries, so we'll see interesting. He's a company man, so, um, I couldn't putt with it.
Speaker 3:I, it feels fantastic. It feels fantastic but, uh, I could, I could not game it and and I like the look of the jailbird. So I was like, oh, I'll be intrigued. Uh, steven jackson saw one and I said it's like it's like putting with a lab putter right, right, and he's like, yeah, absolutely so it's. It's very face forward center shafted, ton of ton of forward press. Um, yeah, we've seen the PXG putter um, and Callaway's got them. Now, that's what we're talking about.
Speaker 2:I'm sure there will be a lot of YouTube videos about comparing them all.
Speaker 5:Yeah, that oh yeah, interesting, that new two ball they took a picture of yeah, well, you see, roars posted, he was yeah, today yeah, and it and it that I was intrigued by that.
Speaker 3:I love the way it looks, it's set up. I could never put with it.
Speaker 2:It's just there's so much going on behind the putter there's a free callaway coming out with the new, uh new. Like those, the hinge face thing, the metal hinge face aren't the o-works.
Speaker 3:No, that's, that's been out, they're just redoing yeah, but aren't.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're redoing it though.
Speaker 3:Yeah, there's okay, I think there's three, three different ones that have the o-work space on it and they look clean.
Speaker 2:They look really clean yeah, that was my first big putter purchase. Was the o works um double?
Speaker 3:double. Why is that the one you sold to ball fang to?
Speaker 2:mikey, I don't remember, but it was the o works the fang fang.
Speaker 4:Uh face two ball fang you had a two ball thing. You actually had a big head cover in your bag at one point.
Speaker 2:Wow, wow did you have iron cover?
Speaker 4:PTSD. Is that why you?
Speaker 2:have it again PTSD yeah, no, I actually, I used to put really well with it. I used to oh the truth, long time ago, long time ago, long time ago, it was red too. Ugh, gross red, like uh, like xanders yeah, the, the, the fucking putter was red, like oh, it's like a spider putter, gross it's against everything you stand for now exactly. I've changed the lock, I've grown.
Speaker 4:I don't even know you right now. I've grown.
Speaker 2:I've grown yeah, I'm very different, you're 20. I get into the niche.
Speaker 3:I'm very niche, if you will very niche, alright, well, I think that's gonna do it for us. Um, I won't see anybody on the golf course for a couple weeks, so uh, send all your good mojo my way for a speedy recovery. Uh, you know, this is not supposed to be a crazy thing, so we'll. We'll see what happens and uh, joe, take it away.
Speaker 2:Thanks for tuning in this week's episode of the chasing daylight podcast. We open up a po box for matt, while he's sitting on the couch resting his knee. The details will be in the link below um, until next week, start a fundraiser.
Speaker 3:save matt's knees. Until next week, venmo me, start a fundraiser. Save Matt's knees.
Speaker 2:Until next week. We will catch you later, Thank you.
