What is up everybody, we are back. Welcome to another episode of the Chasing Daylight Podcast. I have had myself a pretty fun 48 hours.
Speaker 1:Needless to say, hopefully everybody that tunes in to this show weekly was around and caught some of the chaos that took place. Uh, we're gonna get into it. Uh, this is episode 314. Joe's here, dan's here, jeremy's here. Uh, we had some you know, real life shit come up last night so we could not could not get the show to go off, uh, in a timely manner. So we said, fuck it, we'll skip tuesday, we'll do it wednesday.
Speaker 1:We'll do it live so we'll do it live. Do it live. So, uh, thanks so much for being here. We're live right now on instagram. We are live on youtube, we are live on x, formerly known as twitter, and, uh, you know, big shout out to our show supporters the golf stop roars, golf, las vegas, golf superstore. Uh, we love you guys, we love everything that you do and we're so glad that you are a part of the show who can whip you anywhere, anytime oh, you know, first off, if man, okay, where do you guys want to start with this?
Speaker 1:so if, if anybody does not, I have to remember this because, uh, a lot of times when I listen back to the show, people you know we know what we're talking about visually. We know what we're talking about, but maybe not everybody else does. So, uh, yeah, here's boys chiming in hola, my role, uh, hola my role um, what up, what up?
Speaker 2:derrick? Derrick's in the house.
Speaker 1:Yeah, golfing with dad so I I was out back putting the other day and, um, so, for some context, for some context, this is what sparked everything. Right, right, this is a video, a little something, a graphic thing that Lab Golf and Club Champion put together. Yeah, all right, what your putter is trying to do? Okay, I have never been a fan of the Revealer. I don't, I don't For me it just. You know, that's not how we putt. I don't think you need to showcase zero torque. You can tell people what it is. You can show your putter in it what it does.
Speaker 2:I just don't like the fact that they grab every other putter manufacturer in the world and say, look at what this does. I mean, could you, could you imagine, like the club cover, the putter manufacturer in the world and say, look at what this does, we don't. Could you, could you imagine, like the club cover, the putter cover that the revealer would have in your bag?
Speaker 1:it'd be, oh joe, disgusting it would be huge, uh, huge. So, uh, I was out back putting and, uh, I grabbed my phone and I said I did this versus what's actually happening. Oh, it didn't start, oh.
Speaker 2:First part here we go, holy shit.
Speaker 1:I think you didn't have a new port in your hand. Yeah oh man all right and so it was one take and people called me out on that. Uh, so I I shared the the full length. You know that's like I don't know, two and a half seconds longer than that one. I just edited to make it look nicer.
Speaker 2:Uh, I will say absolutely fantastic take by you. Like it's so, it's so good.
Speaker 2:It really is like amazing what you showcased in that and so many people are so butthurt on it and you weren't saying anything bad, like it's such a good take and uh, I I think you, you know, sometimes you just strike gold and I think that was gold. I I really do. It was really really well done. Uh, you're not saying anything about the putter, really, you're just saying that's what you know contraptions you don't putt with a contraption, okay, you putt with your hands. So I, I thought it was great. I, I loved it no, I.
Speaker 1:I got called everything from a 20 handicap to a, an idiot, a moron to a callaway sponsored golfer to callaway oh yeah, I will agree with yeah, oh, I am. I am an angry old man, uh. But yeah, callaway sponsor, I did it for rage bait. I had to ask my kid. I'm like, what the fuck is rage bait?
Speaker 1:never heard uh, yeah, that's and she's like oh, that's when you create something just to get people pissed off on purpose. I'm like oh shit all right, it was kind of funny, but it was unintentional rage bait, uh.
Speaker 1:But you know, then lab came in and chimed in, and then when lab chimed in, all the fanboys and then it just went fucking nuts, it went crazy. And you know, I was having a lot of fun with the comments, uh, and I sent a message to Tyler Munns and I said I go, hey, I am nowhere nearly as gifted as you are to responding to, you know, dwellers and, uh, private accounts, but I, a couple times I had in my brain, you know, what would tyler do? He said and I had, I had, I was walking around smiling all day because it was so freaking funny. The hate that I mean it's, it's fucking social media people, it's a putter.
Speaker 1:Oh you, odyssey bandwagoner, oh you, you get paid by calloway and oh, you know, and just like good lord, you know. And then steven was over here, steven jackson, who everybody knows, a very highly talented tattoo artist here in town, huge lab fanboy, huge lab fanboy, and we were talking about it for a while last night and he's like dude, it was fucking hilarious, you know. And he's like people just lose their mind and oh my god yeah, it was great, I loved it, it was perfect, perfect, take.
Speaker 2:I mean it's very, very good. I mean you didn't put any thought into that and it just came to you naturally and that's what came out, and it's. It's great, it really is. That's what Steven said.
Speaker 1:He goes, he goes, do that. That was like 17 seconds and it's just blown up. Yeah, it's so funny. So I will say this for the record I have nothing against lab golf, absolutely nothing against lab golf whatsoever.
Speaker 4:Absolutely nothing against lab golf whatsoever if a lab putter makes you enjoy the game more.
Speaker 1:Go rock that shit, go rock it. Uh, if, if that's what you believe you need in your bag to play this game, better, by all means, man, do it. Good lord, never would I tell anybody don't play something that they think is going to help them. Good grief, I have nothing against them. I have nothing against their, their what they're doing. I just think the revealer is absolutely nonsense. And the fact that they use it as a selling tool, uh, it's just, you know, we putt with our hands on the club, not a revealer, and we putt with a three-mile-an-hour stroke on a 15-foot putt. So, and that's what I said, you know, one guy commented because I start, you got to read the.
Speaker 2:The first stroke looked just like the contraption. It did. It really did. It was really well done.
Speaker 1:That's what Steven said. He goes dude. I was impressed you did that one handed. How did you do that?
Speaker 2:I think I think I think what you did also like it gives a big microscope to what social media golf is and people don't really understand the message. I think that's the bigger issue here is nobody read the caption. Nobody really understands the point of the video and that's where, on putts and if, or a putter, if you're buying the putter based on a video of a contraption that your putters in is just trash. It's bullshit like that makes no sense.
Speaker 1:so I think people just need to pay attention more and and that's where we're at read, read, and you know and I'm at fault for that because you know, I, I know I don't read everything and I should um, it's tough when there's so much engagement and videos in your face and you want to see the next one and and I get it. But you know, I said in there, I, you, no one's gonna change my mind if you can't control the club face with a putter on a three mile an hour swing.
Speaker 1:The putter is not the problem, sorry, and you know, somebody indian out there, I'll, I'll I'll never uh, you know when you start off with, I'll never change my opinion. That's where I you lose me at you know, like that's a shit statement and I'm like all right, uh, nobody will ever convince, or you know I'll. I'll never change my opinion. Tiger woods, the greatest golfer ever. Shit, shit opinion, uh oh yeah, it's just.
Speaker 2:It's the same people that walk up to beth, page black and don't read the warning sign. They're like this is the worst golf course ever. You know same thing, same shit. Like appreciate everything for what it is. And you know, like, if and that's what you were saying if it makes you fucking putt better than fucking use it, you know like and you were just you were basically saying like get fit if you can.
Speaker 2:and I I had a comment, uh, where I said you know, all he's saying is is use a putter that you want to look down at, you feel confident, and get fit If you can use a wood stick and a butter knife if it makes you putt better, like nobody cares what you're putting with. But the marketing don't buy into something because of the marketing.
Speaker 1:That's all you were saying really at the end of the day? Yeah, it's it's funny, man, it it really is funny it took a little while, but then the personal attacks aren't coming. When you know the, the, the kill them with kindness ideology, the, the harsh attacks came and I got uh, you know, this dude wears laying leg warmers and sun sleeves which I I was like it's kind of a weird thing to attack somebody on, but you do.
Speaker 2:You're often an angry old man.
Speaker 1:They're not angry old men, they are compression sleeves.
Speaker 2:You gotta keep your legs warm, you're still lounging in a recliner and watching Family Feud, and you know there's nothing wrong with that. You're an angry old man.
Speaker 3:Sitting on the porch yelling at the kids all day.
Speaker 1:I said to that guy I go. So did you call out Charlie Hoffman when he got skin cancer for wearing sun sleeves? I'm like Jesus Christ man, you know.
Speaker 2:What do you guys think about a lot of these guys' arguments that the, the, their, the adoption on pga tour is so massive? It's not, they can't be wrong. Okay, yeah, I mean, it's not with you yeah, and the big, I love it.
Speaker 1:Oh, there's four-time masters champions that all won without it and all switch to it now and have it one sense yeah the fowler. Just just switch to it and he's gonna have a great year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he last won with the jailbird in his bag, so yeah, it's like I think the I think like lucas glover was pretty lost and oh yeah, I think that's probably the best example for them like and will zalatoris too, I mean zalatoris was lost, I mean if you guys remember it.
Speaker 1:Oh my god videos just wiggle. Yeah, just those strikes yeah and hey, if it, if it helps, will compete yeah, go for it, do it go for it, I don't have whatever makes you better rock that shit and do it, drop some putts.
Speaker 2:But you know, like, just just find it if that's, if that's lab, if that's a fucking mini putter, that's a butter knife. Like I said, yeah, do what works for you.
Speaker 1:If it works for you, then fucking do it so the the one of the things that really like was amazing to me um is the people that reached out via private message that I have like a ton of respect for oh, you got a lot of I'm sure I didn't even think about that.
Speaker 2:You probably got a lot of messages oh well, there's.
Speaker 1:I mean you gotta, you gotta understand how the industry is. If, if somebody comes out and says something against another company, they're, they're gonna get shit on and blacklisted. So brands and people in the space that their clientele, maybe they, you know, somebody uses a lab putter with them and they can't say something that they, you know, truly feel because it could affect their business.
Speaker 1:And so you know, and I I would never, ever say anything about who sent stuff but like hey, shout out, cushman, he was, he was in the comments and he's been gone for a while and, uh, he makes great putters and he, he was throwing some stuff out there, which I appreciated because he's a he's a craftsman yeah, uh, but you know, when you, when you like, when you follow somebody and and you, you have a respect for what they do and and their opinions and their, their legacy in the golf space, when they send you messages that you know just is like uplifting and positive and they understand that makes the 400 fucktards you know just pale in comparison.
Speaker 1:It's like you guys don't understand shit. You want because this motherfucker over here that you know knows golf more than all of us combined just gave me a pat on the back, you know, and it, it's, it's that kind of stuff that you know we don't see, we don't get to share, um, so it's, it's, it was, there was a lot of good that came out of it and, uh, you know it, just true colors come out from a lot of people. You know it's, it's, it's super easy to have a private account and bash people you don't want to be that guy fine, you know I I have my name on my profile.
Speaker 1:You can I share my videos. It's not like I'm hiding behind a desk, I'm on fucking youtube weekly. Uh, you know you search my gin. You can see what I play. You can see what I shoot. You know I'm.
Speaker 2:Did you order? Simply Safe, simply Safe.
Speaker 1:Welcome New sponsor of the show, Vivint Home.
Speaker 2:Security. So, now that you're a content creator, do you have? Tacomos Do you have Tacomos on the way.
Speaker 1:Oh here let me show you my? Let me show you my new lab. No, I'm just kidding, no, no. Yeah, that's hilarious, Jeremy.
Speaker 2:I think that goes for the greater thing of like what us four stand for. It's not what your favorite person on YouTube is playing or your favorite PGA Tour player is playing. We ride with what works for you. Okay, the game of golf should fit your eye and you should enjoy what you play. When you look down at a club, you should enjoy looking at that. Whether it doesn't work for you at all, like that's your decision to make. Like I like looking down, I like a blade. I probably shouldn't be playing blades because I don't play as much anymore. But the game of golf is so personal that don't follow the trends, don't follow what other people do. Be yourself in the game. That is truly you. Like you're not playing against anybody. Enjoy your time out there because you don't get to do it all the time.
Speaker 1:Number one and number two so many rounds left in us.
Speaker 2:It's so personal, so like, don't follow people into the trend or follow people into whatever the. The next thing upcoming is Find you in the game, because it's so personalized, and do that. That's literally basically at the heart of what you were saying Find you in the game and find yourself in your clubs.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you guys know, I mean I was like desperate searching for a putter. I I played. I played roars his putter, wrote him a fucking letter and backed out, backed out of that I played the olsen. I played the olsen vegas head. I tried playing it. I played the olsen long neck. I stuck with that for a while. Um, and then the the they re-released the jailbird. I said let me, I'm, I'm, give it a shot. I saw it in the store and it it just set up really nice for me.
Speaker 1:I played that for a while and you know, because I track my putting stats, because I know my tendencies, I was getting very lazy with a face balanced putter. It was just, you know, I need to, I need to feel the head in the stroke. And so, uh, working with preston combs, uh, and figuring out my, my posture and my putting stroke and what's most beneficial for me. You know, I went back to the blade and I was rolling the Scotty really well, I won a VGN tournament with it. I found that Odyssey, that brand new 12 year old Odyssey putter. That's gorgeous, I absolutely love it. Have had zero, zero plans of changing it and I got that before I started working for Callaway.
Speaker 1:Same thing with the first jailbird I had way before I started working Callaway Uh. And then when we were at the the putter release uh event for the the Callaway staffers in town, I saw that slant neck. I went Holy shit, the jailbird with towing yes. And so I got to roll it at at Havasu and I was like no brainer for me, you know, it's absolutely nothing to do with me working for Callaway. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than when I have that in my hand and I look down and I apply my putting stroke, it feels fantastic and it sits well with me and that's why One of the biggest things you got to look down and feel confident.
Speaker 1:Yeah, if, if the first time I grabbed that, if it, you know, didn't have the toe hang and didn't sit right, uh, no, I'd still be playing the blade. So play what you need to play you know, one of my favorite comments on the video was like you must play persimmons yeah, and I, I was having fun with that and I, I, you know, I I tried to bring Lars into it, but it was, it was. I was just trying to have fun with it, but you know I should probably.
Speaker 2:I told him. I told him he must not have any soul. So yeah, man, it's funny dude. And that's the thing about the golf. It's so personal it really is.
Speaker 1:So if you want to uh, have some fun, you know, go to that post and read the comments it'll.
Speaker 2:It takes a while because there's a bunch, yeah but uh, I mean, lab was in there and, and, and, like matt said, there's there's nothing ill will towards lab. I mean, they, they're providing, providing a product towards a sector of the market, you know, and they they created that and it's doing well. I mean, but just be conscious of what you're doing, understand what's happening in your stroke and if it works for you, it works for you that's it.
Speaker 1:Yep, I mean there's I don't know I I really want to get preston on the show. He's moving to florida, so he's in the middle, uh, middle of a big move. Uh, so after he gets, uh, it's joey ripetti, stop yelling at everyone, old angry man. Uh, as soon as he gets his home base set up in florida, uh, I'm gonna try and get him on the show and talk, because you know, he helped me realize a lot of things that had nothing to do with the putter. Nothing to do with the putter. This is pure comedy gold. It'll take you a while, rob.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Rob says literally was going through the comments. I'll have past five minutes. This is pure golf, rob. Yeah. Rob says literally was going through the comments the past five minutes. This is pure golf, comedy gold, yeah.
Speaker 3:So we should.
Speaker 1:Well, you know what? What we'll do, what we'll do oh. I don't know if Spieth's ever going to go to a lab putter. If Spieth goes to a lab putter, jeremy has to get one, jeremy will play it for one round, and then we can give it away to a listener that chimes in with their favorite comment.
Speaker 2:I would put money on that happening.
Speaker 1:Yes, absolutely. Oh, look at that. A-rick is coming to Vegas. Oh shit, Uh-oh.
Speaker 2:Uh-oh, if anyone's looking for a circle teapot or hit up eric.
Speaker 3:I wish I was in the market for one eric.
Speaker 1:Eric, did you even? Did you see my video, did you I? I hadn't heard nothing from you on it. I thought for sure you would have sent me a message or something. You must have been a very busy man the past couple days. Are you bringing your sticks too? Let me know if you're bringing your sticks. He's not bringing sticks. He does not do that. He's never bringing his sticks. But I gotta ask him that way I could always say hey, we asked you to bring your sticks.
Speaker 1:Uh, what do you got some good news. He'll be back out on the links on the 28th. So happy to hear that. Um so, uh, our thoughts and prayers go out to him. Also. Matt boyd with with what's going on with his family. Our thoughts and prayers are going out to him. You can't bait me into commenting on posts.
Speaker 2:Oh yes, I can watch me just did, just did yeah, worse, you commented on a live post yeah, so oh, let's see.
Speaker 1:Oh, my boy, thank you so much yeah all right. So hey, real quick. Uh, unless you guys, anybody else, want to cover anything about that incident, I guess we can call it dan. You got anything you want to chime in on now?
Speaker 3:um, yeah, I mean, I think you've covered pretty much everything. I think it's just, I think it's actually just kind of cool that you went viral, kind of you know.
Speaker 3:You know regardless, kind of you know you know, regardless of all the you know the negativity and all this stuff, I mean, people just need to chill the fuck out. But you know that's, that's how people are now. You know everybody's. That's what social media does. It gives you a platform to be nasty or to be, you know, nice. So it is what it is with. The good comes to bad, but yeah that was pretty cool.
Speaker 1:Pretty cool to see you go viral. Thank you, sir matt boyd. Have you heard of lab putters? They're pretty cool, did you see in his picture? Look, he's swinging a lab putter right there from the teeth.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I thought I thought it was funny. I thought it was so funny. Man, like, literally like my if you watch my video like it's a genuine oh, because it's.
Speaker 1:Oh, you were cracking up. That's why I said, yes, pose that, that shit was very funny, very funny so, uh, we'll probably never, ever experience something like that again, but I could at least tell my kids hey, I did something positive on instagram once I don't know, I don't know if you'd consider it positive, but oh well, as far as uh views, you got people, hey, you got hating.
Speaker 2:And oh yeah, that's what brooklyn said she goes everybody's dogging you.
Speaker 1:What are you happy about? I'm like it's funny. Yeah, uh, steven. Steven said last night he goes, you know what it's so crazy and he goes. Nobody knows you, nobody knows. You're like so just chill and relaxed and a great guy and I said, yeah, I know it's it's funny.
Speaker 2:I mean, social media itself is just so crazy because they don't understand, like how entrenched in the world of golf that you are, you know, and it's just like people fire shots and it's just like a lot of those guys are, just like they don't even know what they're talking about in the first place anyway, and they're trying to call you out on things and it's that's just that's social media, man, it's so funny dude, I baited greenly.
Speaker 1:Takes two months to get one when you order minimum well, that's what somebody brought up.
Speaker 2:that's, somebody brought that up and they said like you know, they're giving putters to all these youtubers or influencers, but I paid for my order and I have a 10 week lead time, and so it's just. It's just. It's just interesting, man, it really is, it's funny, it really is.
Speaker 1:Roar said uh oh, he's got time to hop on Instagram and get in a debate with you, but he can't answer my email.
Speaker 2:Okay, so he was trying to become a member at Shell Bay or something. Yeah.
Speaker 1:No, you never know.
Speaker 2:Big influencer money nowadays.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, all right, yeah, all right. So, uh, anybody got any questions? Uh, throw them out there if you want to see the video. It's. It's the latest post on my on my reels feed.
Speaker 2:Um, and, uh, yeah, it's, it was pretty funny so yeah, just don't be a softie, bro, like just all you guys out there. Don't be softies. Share your opinion and don't be a softie. Don't be bitch, don't be a little b so uh want to talk about these.
Speaker 1:Uh, our, our buddy beds, uh, at travis matthew shout out beds shout out beds.
Speaker 1:Uh, this is not a golf shoe, not a golf shoe, this is a running shoe. And uh, I I have not fallen in love with any of the travis matthew golf shoes. They're nice, just haven't done it for me. I told beds ever since I got this, I have not taken it off, and if they can put a golf tread where this is, this will be a fantastic golf shoe. It's, it's very lightweight. It's it's looks super spongy. It's really not. It's very stable, very firm. But uh, yeah, I have not taken these off. It's the. I gotta see I can I can't remember the name of it either.
Speaker 1:It's new age is is yeah, it's what it's called, um, here, it is right here. I'll bring it up there. It is right there. So it's the new age in you. A, g, e, it is available now.
Speaker 1:Uh, it is a absolutely fantastic running shoe. Running shoe, this is a great caddy shoe. This is a great. Stand there and help people with their swing as you're fitting them to, which I have worn nonstop. So, um, shout out beds, shout out travis matthew, put a golf tread on that and you have a winning shoe.
Speaker 1:In my opinion, it's. It's very lightweight. This is mesh, you know it's very breathable? Uh, it's, it's not. I don't know. I don't think it's waterproof. Um, the golf shoe would have to be waterproof, so they'll probably change something about it. I mean, it doesn't have to be. They can do the water resistant like, true, does um, but a couple colors and varieties on there. So if you're looking for one, that is a. That is a good one to look for. All right, we got the lab covered, all right. So, hey, um, the vgn our season kicks off saturday. Uh, chatted up with maddie g. He said uh, he's going to be better at giving us a hand more now that the season started. So, uh, let's bring in maddie g for this weekend's forecast what's up everybody?
Speaker 4:first our meteorologist, matt Contark, in the Fox 5 First Alert Weather Center. A big first tournament for the VGN to kick off the 2025 season this upcoming Saturday at Siena Golf Club. It's an 820 shotgun and you'll be waking up to mid to upper 50s, at least for the start of the round, under mostly sunny skies, and light winds are expected throughout the day as well, and by the end of the round, as you make that second turn, we're looking at sunny skies and upper 60s. So a fantastic forecast to kick off the BGN season. Good luck out there.
Speaker 1:Boo-doo-doo.
Speaker 2:What a professional, what a professional.
Speaker 1:He says he's doing radio at 4.30 in the morning. Now, wow. He says he's doing radio at 4 30 in the morning now.
Speaker 4:Wow so the the constant professional yeah.
Speaker 1:So although I do need to change that, but I gotta get that mustache picture that they always share on the news of him. I think that would be much better representation of maddie g than the the suit and eye stuffiness. So I have to reach out to the Fox News crew and see if they can send that my way so we can use that. Hey, I see Stems Golf is in the IG chat. They just released their new divot tool, fantastic Single prong. It's nice, it's heavy. I put a little video out yesterday showing it. Well done man, well done. I like it. Like it great, great little. I like a small, heavy divot tool because you can feel it in your pocket. That's. My favorite divot tool of all time was super, super lightweight titanium. I had it forever and it fell out of my pocket at wild horse yeah, it looks great.
Speaker 2:I mean it's got some weight to it, right?
Speaker 1:yeah, it's, it's 40 grams. It's, it's it, it's got. It's got some weight to it, right, yeah, it's 40 grams. It's got a little beefiness to it.
Speaker 2:I feel like I've always loved the double prong, but as I've matured as a golfer, I feel like I like the singles more. When you learn how to fix a divot better, a single feels like hey, I know what I'm doing out here, you know what I mean. Like a like a double prong is like oh, I could just stab this shit.
Speaker 1:But like a like a single, you're like I'm creative with this and I'm gonna fix it the correct way and I put out that post asking you know what people like, single or double and and it was, it was like 58, you know 14 to whatever it is. So it was really close, a lot of votes, and and the the single prong was was uh, I gotta post the results of that. I'll do that later. Um, yeah, I, I've, I've been a double prong guy wrong is classy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it is, you are. You're right, single prong. That just feels like you know why you're out there and you know what you're doing that's what I would say like I just need this, I just need, I only need one. I only need one I don't know we're doing this because I fix all my divots. That's what. That's what a single says. I fix all my ball marks. I just think a double is like I fix most of them, but a single I fix all mine.
Speaker 1:There it is, that's it right there uh that, that southern highlands one, that little plastic southern highlands one I'm gonna find out who made those for them and and get some for the vgn, because those things are fantastic, absolutely hands down. A nickel divot tool, that is fantastic. So I'm going to get some of those with either the VGN logo or the Joker logo on them for everybody.
Speaker 4:I just got to find out who's making them.
Speaker 1:So you type in plastic divot tool and there's 4,000 companies that come up that are you know that put names on cups. But I want to find that a company because those ones are the bees knees. All right, so a VGN tournament. We got 72 players, good weather, good course. Trey's been out there the past couple of days. He said the greens are lightning fast, which is kind of a rare thing for Siena, so I'm happy to see that. Did say they ran into a situation on the number six tee box today that all the tee boxes were under repair and they had all the tee boxes at the edge of the fairway. So I am playing there tomorrow with the Tattoo Boys, kevin Furness and Steven Jackson, and find out if that's going to be the case. The Tattoo Boys.
Speaker 2:The Tattoo Boys. Yeah, they're Tattoo Boys.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so it should be a good time. It'll be a little windy tomorrow, but okay, I'll do that. You got it, isaiah, thanks. So, yeah, 72 players, the purses are going to be outstanding.
Speaker 1:I chatted up with Golf Genius this morning and did some updating to the website. This is something new that we're doing this year on the vgn website. There's a lot more public information on the website now. Everything the past couple years has kind of been in-house. It was either on discord or in emails, so the public really never got to see exactly what was going on within the league. This year I've opened up a ton of information to the public so people can can see the field sizes, see where we're playing, see who's who's playing and what flights. Um, I I found out how to post the pairings on the page now. Uh, the leaderboard is going to be live on the website so you won't have to. You know, search for golf genius and try to find us. You can just go to the vg and website, go to the schedule, click on leaderboard for the event and see what's going on. So, jeremy and dan, you guys aren't going to be there. That's an easy way for you guys to check out what's going on in the tournament.
Speaker 1:Um, I'll be able to post the standings, everything. The the website is a one place for everything. Now the forum page is up for the members so you can go on there. Uh, I've got a bunch of different topics in there. People are starting to realize that it's there.
Speaker 4:Now it's gonna take a little time.
Speaker 1:It's gonna take a little time. Um, you know, I a little bit of pressure at the beginning, but letting everybody figure it out, um, ton of people in the side game, side games are. They're gonna be great. Uh, we got, I think, almost a,000 in gross skins for the net guys, like $800, $900 for the net skins. There's only 10 guys that have bought into the gross skins in the gross division, so that's $500, I think in that. And then the CTPs. What we're doing this year I don't know if we've talked about it on here or not, but uh, each flight is going to have their own hole for uh, the tournament. Um, like the clubs, number 17,. That is the par three for their CTP, so they don't have to worry about measuring or anything. Just one hole that's theirs and uh, however many people enter, that's going to be the prize. So you know, we've got uh 21 guys in this. There's 25 players in the spades flight and 21 of them entered the ctp.
Speaker 4:Someone's gonna win 200 bucks 210 bucks, big money, big money for a t-shot, so that's that's awesome, pretty awesome and the more.
Speaker 1:The more people we get in, the better those will be, so, uh, really looking forward to it. It's been a fun week. Uh, it's been a lot of fun getting the website up to par. Jeremy's been helping me with some back-end stuff to help it run a little bit more efficiently and uh, yeah, it's, it's. Uh, it's going to be good and hopefully, with everybody having access to that stuff, we'll be able to, you know, showcase what we're doing a little bit more so anybody got anything else you guys want to talk about tgl yeah, what the fuck are they doing?
Speaker 3:Okay, jupiter is terrible man. Jupiter team is awful.
Speaker 1:They're not good I don't?
Speaker 2:I mean, I feel like they just assume everybody has President Day off. Yeah, that was odd.
Speaker 1:I totally forgot there was a three-banger on. I mean, we were out doing shopping Emma's in town, so we were hanging out with her. We were going shopping. Doing was odd, I totally forgot there was a three-banger on. I mean, we were out doing shopping Emma's in town, so we were hanging out with her, we were going shopping, doing different things and yeah, completely forgot about it.
Speaker 2:I mean, how are they going to? Like I feel like they're trying to dictate the days off. I should have? You know what I mean. Like oh, I need to get off at 4 pm on tuesday that's not possible oh I need to have president's day off.
Speaker 2:I, I can't have president's day off. I just, you know, I just feel like the fucking schedule is just all fucked. But, um, I do love watching it, I really do. But like it's just fucking in in next week there's like there's like a double header next week and then there's like there's like two rounds on monday and then there's a round on tuesday. Like I think they need to figure that shit out, because it's just like I want to watch but I can't. I can't watch everything because you guys are fucking scatterbrained.
Speaker 1:You know what I mean yeah uh, yeah, the the tiger, you know 99 from 199 was.
Speaker 2:I feel like. I feel like that was set up, do you?
Speaker 1:guys feel like you.
Speaker 2:I feel like it was a little set up well, this is what I'm thinking, if we're out of the interesting I mean it's a par four.
Speaker 1:uh, he, he'd have to have hit a 400-yard drive to have 99 in. So that's a little Now. Tiger is kind of in a different mental state right now, so I'll give him a little bit of a reprieve. You know he did have the loss of his mother recently, so I'm sure his mind isn't 100% on playing sim golf with the boys. But it's par 4, and you just hit, driver, you're really going to have 99 in.
Speaker 2:That's why I feel like it was a little set up, but we do that all the time on the course.
Speaker 1:If we're out past 100 yards, what's the yardage? Oh, it's 55. If you're at the 150 marker on a golf course and you say, well, how far are we out? We're 55. So you know it's 155. So when they say, know, we're 55. So you know, you know it's 155.
Speaker 2:Right.
Speaker 1:That's how they. That's how. So, when they say 99, they're telling them 199,. But he's in a simulator and he's hitting to a screen. You know 40 feet in front of him, so yeah.
Speaker 2:I don't know. I feel like he would, I feel like he wouldn't know, and I think it would like they weren't going to win, that it was like a ploy, like it was a gimmick.
Speaker 1:so I don't know Joe's calling for the script. Joe wants to see the script conspiracy, let's go. Tgl conspiracy. That is some master thoughts right there, joe because he hit it. 99 on the dot is what they said oh yeah, they told me 99, I hit it 99. Yeah, and you've only got greens, you know, six times in this, so exactly right yeah, yeah, that's the thing, bro.
Speaker 2:I feel like it was. I feel like they were so far down that they fixed that to make it a moment to where was tiger's moment. You that you know like trying to create some buzz, so I don't know. Too funny. I mean he has a simulator in his house, right like he's played golf on a simulator before he. Oh yeah, he should be able to understand like he's further than 99 yards out just by what the screen is.
Speaker 1:You should be able to 99 yards out. I don't know, joe, you may have convinced me.
Speaker 2:I mean, you know, they need viewership, they need people, they need some buzz. So tinfoil, get my tinfoil, get your tinfoil.
Speaker 1:I need my foil. You could use it for a putter cover for a lab, all right. So, uh, jeremy, you got stuff going on with your kid, with basketball, dan, you got work. Is that why you can't play?
Speaker 3:yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, freaking work.
Speaker 3:Always something.
Speaker 1:But hey, I'm happy about the weather. I'm happy how my game is trending right now. Looking forward to getting out there tomorrow seeing how it would play with the new driver. I've just hit it at Highland Falls on the range. I have not teed it up yet, so that will be fun to see how that goes.
Speaker 2:Man, I just got a direct message from Roberto's Taco Shop.
Speaker 1:Shut up, yes, shout out Roberto's.
Speaker 2:It's a message to me. They said hey, there, you left your wallet. Roberto's Day is march 2nd. We have free tacos if you show up with your roberto's merch and we know you do come show support march 2nd, roberto's day, free tacos, that's we'll go together, yeah almost we're the only people that have roberto's merch in this podcast well, hey, maybe we should have what day is march 2nd sunday?
Speaker 1:is it a tuesday?
Speaker 2:it's a sunday. I think it's sunday. No, I think it's a wednesday. That's taco tuesday. That's our taco Wednesday. That's one odd thing that Roberto's does is tacos.
Speaker 1:March 2nd is a Sunday, oh, okay, well, we're not going to do a podcast on Sunday.
Speaker 2:We need a Roberto sponsorship.
Speaker 1:I'm going to work on that Right there, roberto's Taco Shop, the official taco of CDP. There we go.
Speaker 2:B and C. Yeah, there roberto's taco shop, the official taco of cdp. There we go b and c.
Speaker 1:Yeah, the don tortaco was pretty good. Did I send you that picture?
Speaker 2:don tortaco is fantastic. They have the best salsa in my vicinity, so that's why I go there. Um, there's so many factors in Mexican food and it requires beans.
Speaker 1:Wait, hold on, let's stop now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we won't go there. I haven't had any in a long time.
Speaker 1:Joe's going to have his own show. Welcome to the Hidden Greens Bean and Cheese Hour. That's my Roberto's. And soul.
Speaker 2:I mean, salsa is key, right, you can't have a watery salsa, and most robertos have watery salsa, so yeah, I used to love the uh the green sauce at uh fostos that was good stuff.
Speaker 2:But that's the thing, man, you're, you are. It's everywhere is different. Like I can go to don't talk over here and it's different from don't talk over there. That was good stuff, but that's the thing, man, everywhere is different. I can go to Don Tortoco over here and it's different from Don Tortoco over there. So it's like even the one by me they make a habanero chopped up joint. So it's like because the cooks want something hotter, so they make a big batch.
Speaker 1:Yes, do you have any Roberto's questions? Please send them to.
Speaker 2:Joe Roberto's podcast coming soon.
Speaker 1:That is hilarious and we know you do.
Speaker 2:I did wear my Roberto's T-shirt the other day to a four-year-old's birthday that I took my son to, and nobody complimented me.
Speaker 1:I was kind of bummed because they probably thought you picked it up at a thrift store they're like do you work at roberto's? Or you work there, yeah you have a child can you go get some chips and salsa how do you pay for daycare? Roberto's, is it's? It's at another level, it's, you know, it's st taco bell yeah no torpedoes over this bitch.
Speaker 2:You know what I mean.
Speaker 1:It's true, uh, is anybody that's listening? Uh, either on twitter, youtube, instagram. Does anybody have any questions for us or anything we haven't done like a listener question thing? I don't think ever. I don't know how many people are still hanging. We probably lost half the listenership with the Roberto's taco talk, but no, rob, I think Rob's still there, just weeding out the people that don't matter.
Speaker 2:Yeah, just kidding.
Speaker 1:You don't like, roberto, let's get out of here. We'll have to do a. You know we'll tease a Q&A.
Speaker 2:We should do a send your questions and kind of thing. Yeah, we got to.
Speaker 1:The tour's in Mexico. Right now, hey Blades Brown is playing in a second event. Harry's down there, which course are they playing again. Vedante Is that what it is. Oh yeah, we didn't talk about Ludwig winning at Tor tori. The scores were a lot higher than we thought. We were wrong on that one. I mean, after the first day it looked like it was going to be nasty, uh, but the weather cleared up and uh man I that course looked so green, like, so green, like joe's background, green, just so green fake, fake green it looked fake it.
Speaker 1:I mean it was wow. But uh, dan, would you want to play tori and I?
Speaker 3:you're a baller you'll play it in any conditions.
Speaker 1:But was that like yeah, especially like that, hell yes yeah oh yeah, I wouldn't.
Speaker 3:I mean, you're never going to play a course better, in better shape than, like, the day after the week, after the tours. The tour is going to be there because it's going to go back to muni shape until the next big event gets there yeah you know, do you think? That we played it in muni shape, though do you think that we played it in uni shape though? Yes, 100, yeah it was still tough.
Speaker 2:It was still tough, yeah, it was still pretty fucking good. That's what I'm saying, that rough. Yeah, it was nasty around the greens.
Speaker 1:God, how those guys hit those shots with accuracy is unbelievable.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're good man, those guys are good why don't we talk about uh sand valley just coming out of the woodworks yesterday, big? News yeah 12 horse where has bgc been I I think uh designed by jim craig, I think that's bgc was in hawaii, I think yeah, I know he went to hawaii, but he's.
Speaker 1:I mean he should have been on the show when he was in Hawaii. That's an even sooner day than normal.
Speaker 2:You know what BGC stands for. You know what BGC stands for British Columbia, guana and Nicaragua. He's just traveling all over the world.
Speaker 1:It's all over the place. No, that's BGN, sorry BCGN, british. No, that's BGN, sorry BCGN.
Speaker 2:British Columbia, guana. What's Guana Chile?
Speaker 3:I'm trying to say like Guano.
Speaker 1:Here we go. Rob's coming through with a question. How do we feel about reunification of live and PGA players? Should limited PGA field events be expanded to larger fields, if this happens?
Speaker 2:I think PGA Tour events should put rookies in to try and find their way into the tour. But yes, I think for the signature events they need to bring in the players that bring viewership in so that the rookies that are coming up have a pathway to build their career boom yeah, yeah, the.
Speaker 1:The best players in the world need to play on one place they need to play in one.
Speaker 2:Do you think they're the best players in the world anymore? I think that's where it can get a little iffy, because it's like are they the? Best players in the world or are they the players with the biggest names in the world? But I still think the biggest names in the world should play together.
Speaker 1:I mean Bryson showed us that he can still game. He won the US Open last year year. Uh, you know he's not. He's not not a great player he does. You know, not every great player has it every weekend, like tiger did in the you know late 90s.
Speaker 2:But well, your peers with him, now your content creators.
Speaker 1:So I mean I'll just I'll have to send him a message and ask him. You know, what do you say? Hey T, what do you think?
Speaker 3:you know, I think there's been a pretty good drop off on the quality of play. Yeah, bryson has, you know, stepped his game up. He's won a major, and all that since Brooks is still, you know, contending when he came back over. But you don't hear anything from Dustin Johnson, hardly anymore. Rom has been somewhat successful, but he hasn't really contended in any of the majors that he's played in. Joaquin Neiman's played very well, yes, he has.
Speaker 3:So it would be good to have him back. But I feel like a lot of those guys because they got paid so much damn money to go over to that event that they're not hungry to play good golf anymore. They've got the money. They don't give a fuck if they shoot 75, 74, 72 in the tournaments anymore, because they don't need to work hard to stay on tour to keep their card and shit like that anymore. You know, when you look on tour you see all these new young guys. You're like who the fuck are these guys? And they're so good because they don't have shit. They don't have that they don't have 150 million dollars sitting in the bank. You know they're still working to make a name for themselves. So I think it'd be good to get a lot of those guys back. But I think a lot of them, you know, just like I said, move the money that they've made. The drive is gone and they just kind of go through the motions out there and you probably won't see a lot of those guys win too much anymore.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I was watching the Australia event because it was on, you know, because it was like primetime for us, and so I was watching it and they were following the Bryson group. That's how I knew he three putted when he drove, you know the 400 and something yard drive to the green. That's how I knew he three putted, because I was watching it and I was like I haven't seen DJ one time.
Speaker 1:I haven't seen like Paul Casey. I haven't seen Lee Westwood. I don't even know if Phil Mickelson was playing. I saw Sergio one time. It was just like all the big names that you would think that they would be pushing on the telecast because they're all playing at the same time, because that's what the big difference was All the guys are on the courts at the same time. We'll get to see all these shots. I saw Bubba a couple times, but it was like they were really focused on Bryson, brysonryson, bryson, bryson, bryson, bryson. He is the face of live right now, at least as the broadcast goes. And I and also I was I was a little disappointed with fox sports because, you know, when they took over the us open footage, everybody like jumped on their shit because oh, there's so many graphics and there's, you know, so many different things on the screen yeah, pylon and they.
Speaker 1:All they did was just move it from one station to another. They. There was nothing new. The you know I don't need a microphone graphic on the screen when the caddy and the players are talking saying live mic. Yeah, I know, because I'm listening to them. You don't need to display a blinking live mic. I, I don't know. There's, there's some.
Speaker 2:Uh, I mean, I think there's many issues with golf broadcasts. Yeah, totally right. So, but I do, I do, I do feel that sentiment where I think some of these guys will come back and they won't be their same, their same self. When we saw them last time, rob's follow-up how many live players are competitive.
Speaker 1:Back on the pga tour right now. I think he named it. I think it's bryson brooks, maybe rom, if he finds it.
Speaker 2:I think rom walking, walking, grinding across the world like he's been. He's been grinding and trying to get his points.
Speaker 1:So matt wolf. Where's matt wolf is nowhere to be found, I mean I think I'm supposed to be back that's another one. I didn't see that. You know he was resting to be one of the top players in the world yeah, he was on a precipice man and yeah, I think he's won one live event, hasn't?
Speaker 3:he yeah?
Speaker 1:yeah, I think so that's. Uh, that's the thing, bro, like I'm sorry love playing golf.
Speaker 2:I mean, they just want to fish. Nowadays I don't get it at your event.
Speaker 1:I'll be thinking of you guys look out and see snow and ice where I live, but spring is near, enjoy the snow 50 days, masters, 50 days it's coming. Yeah, rom dropped out of the top 50 because he's not playing in events where he gets world rankings. That's just a matter of time, you know.
Speaker 2:And it didn't help that he's didn't perform well in the majors, so and just think of all this time that they haven't seen these up-and-comers coming. I mean, we don't know these up-and-comer names yet, but they are the up-and-comers of golf and how many of these guys would not be there if live.
Speaker 3:Yeah, wasn't you know, I mean you're seeing new names each week and these guys are sticks, sticks man I will say this, though, too like you know, personal lives will also have a little bit to play in there. I mean, a lot of those guys are in baby making mode right now, like rom's got what? Three kids now under four years old, something like that, or at least two. Um, you know, speith, ricky, all those guys they're working on families, they got young kids. Jt just had a baby, you know. So I think a lot, of a lot of the lack of success from the big name guys like that, like you thought, you know we're going to come in and just be, you know, just killers all year long, just right now, just personal life and other shit's kind of getting in the way and taking precedent. So I think that could have a little bit to do with yeah, that's true reason why a lot of these guys aren't, you know, winning as much as they.
Speaker 1:It's not on the, it's not on the forefront anymore, it's it's like third now yeah, you got family you got your your wealth and your your future and oh yeah, I mean I could.
Speaker 2:I could have won every bgn tournament last year if I didn't have kids. You, you know.
Speaker 1:I get it, I get it Totally.
Speaker 2:Yeah, really understand.
Speaker 1:That's a kids, so I guess.
Speaker 2:Yeah, kids, yeah I would. I would have won every tournament last year.
Speaker 3:Totally, john, you could have had all the time, all the time you take away, all that time of being a dad and just put Exactly, and that's what I've.
Speaker 2:that's what I've been saying. That's what I've been saying, katie the kids I'm like if you guys weren't here like I would be a baller.
Speaker 1:Oh, rob has said that his five-year-old daughter ruined his putting stroke. Are you trying to tell us that you're going to a lab? Is that? Is that how you're saying no what he's?
Speaker 2:saying is he'd probably be world number one right now.
Speaker 1:Oh I know, but I just think it's funny that I mean he could say, yeah, my daughter run my golf game too but he specifically said ruined my putting stroke Rob was perennial king of the green and now it's just out the window. Out the window.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Do you use YouTube to get viewers using bryson? Does? Does love use youtube to get viewers using bryson? Yeah, oh does live.
Speaker 3:Use youtube to give you oh yeah, absolutely they do.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they're riding them coattails for sure. Oh, I mean, they brought in rick shields to help get views yeah, I mean, I mean Bryson's the hottest thing in golf currently. He's making a name for himself.
Speaker 2:Good for him, good for them Making a name for himself. Good for everybody.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it is. If you put a lab and it works for you, good for you. If you have a lab and it doesn't work for you, find something else.
Speaker 1:let's do it. Let's just do what you do so.
Speaker 2:Good, look at this one hand. Can you show the other video too, the one where they show all the putters oh yeah, absolutely yeah, it is I love that.
Speaker 3:So much the scotty backwards just killed it. I love my putter being completely backwards.
Speaker 2:Sideways spider. I love it. There it goes, Dude. That's what you needed to follow up with. That's what you needed to follow up with. You should have just you might not have gotten many views, but if you did that at first like people, they couldn't say anything.
Speaker 1:But look how close the second putter on there, the top one, the second one. Look how close that this one is to that. No, you did it perfectly, we don't have to.
Speaker 2:I know, Just a heel hook. A heel hook, just a heel hooker.
Speaker 1:A little heel hooker. Oh man, that was fun. All right, anything else. You guys want to talk about anything else? We got an hour, we're good.
Speaker 2:314 in the bank 314.
Speaker 1:314. 314 in the bank. 314, 314, 314 in the bank. That's wild, that's wild.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's a long time.
Speaker 1:It's a. It's a good week for golf. The vgn 2025 it's here. Good weather's coming. Get to put all the the warm clothes out here in the in the casita. Bring all the spread my polos out so they get their more room now, so they're not all jammed up with hoodies.
Speaker 3:What event do we have coming up next for pga tour? What's next?
Speaker 1:mexico open mexico, and then, uh, is it bay hill? Yeah, then it's the florida swing they go to florida. So you got the the honda or no? Is the honda gone?
Speaker 2:it's called something else now. Uh, fucking shit, what's it called?
Speaker 1:the traxxas open the no, it's like the circumvent. The Lowe's Home Depot.
Speaker 2:Circumvent. I think, it's cognizant or something.
Speaker 4:Cognizant.
Speaker 1:Circumvent and cognizant. It's pretty similar.
Speaker 2:Circumvent and cognizant is pretty close Circumcision. The only reason you came up with cognizant is because I said circumvent oh true, there we go, yeah, so let's go.
Speaker 1:Then the florida swing, then the masters will be here in no time.
Speaker 2:No time big party at jeremy's house. Um, if you need the gate code, hit me up. He's going to have all the egg sandwiches.
Speaker 1:We had it at Trey's last year Cemento cheeses. Yeah, let's do that this year.
Speaker 3:Let's order that Order, that Masters, I'm not good at making Masters food. We can do some Filipino food but you can order the Masters.
Speaker 2:I wonder when that needs to be ordered, I'll start checking into that.
Speaker 1:We'll know, Look at this asshole Seaboy Saturday, don't forget your arm sleeves and leg warmers, matty, don't worry, I'll have them, or his the.
Speaker 2:Amber Alert thing Life.
Speaker 1:Alert Life.
Speaker 2:Alert, don't forget your Life Alert. Amber Alert.
Speaker 3:Amber Alert, he's all over the place. You're missing children around here.
Speaker 2:Hey, angry old man, do that too, man, I'm just.
Speaker 3:I'm falling and I can't get that too, man.
Speaker 1:Golf is hard. Golf is hard, enjoy it. That means you have to use a lab putter to enjoy it.
Speaker 3:Do it Putting's, hard Putting's hard.
Speaker 1:Get you a lab. That would be a better campaign. Golf is hard. Alright, joe, guzzle that down, get us out of here.
Speaker 2:Guzzle it down us out of here. Guzzle it down. Thanks for tuning in. Episode 314 chase daylight podcast. This was a fun one. The angry old man had a video go viral on on instagram and you guys hate it. But look deeper into yourself. There's a soul inside of you. Enjoy golf. Whatever makes you enjoy golf the most. Do that.
