A million views, a brutal lung infection, and strong opinions about putters – this episode has it all as we navigate the fascinating world of golf both on and off the course.

The Players Championship delivered the drama we expected with Rory McIlroy claiming another victory at TPC Sawgrass. We break down the challenging conditions that tested even the world's best, highlighting JJ Spaun's exceptional ball striking and questioning whether this prestigious tournament deserves major status. Our conversation takes an interesting turn as we examine Rory's public persona – has the responsibility of being the PGA Tour's spokesperson changed him?

Social media became a battleground following the Creator Classic at TPC Sawgrass, with Barstool's Trent facing relentless criticism after struggling on the difficult course. We defend content creators who put themselves out there while acknowledging the often toxic nature of online golf discourse. This hits close to home as Matt celebrates his putting video reaching a million views, prompting his giveaway while sharing the surprising lessons learned from unexpected viral fame.

Beyond the headlines, we dive into the technical aspects of golf with a fascinating discussion on swing "low point," explore the future of TGL, and preview upcoming tournaments including the LPGA's visit to Shadow Creek. Speaker 1:

What is up, everybody, and welcome to another episode of the Chasing Daylight Podcast. Jeremy's going to be joining us a little bit late tonight, if at all. He got called in for an emergency programming session, so maybe he'll be here, maybe not, but that's okay, we got you covered. Joe's here. Dan's here. I'm here, welcome. Welcome everybody to the show. If you are tuning in on YouTube, on instagram, on twitter. Thank you so much for being here. We really appreciate it. Uh, each week we start the show thanking those who support us so big, much, much love to uh. Roars golf, las vegas golf superstore and the golf stop, along with sc Scott Russo from Unwritten Law. What are you rocking?

Speaker 3:

there, joe, it's the Hesher Hack tee, hesher Hack's back.

Speaker 2:

Shout out.

Speaker 1:

Hesher Hack.

Speaker 3:

He's back Back to the Ace Chase.

Speaker 1:

Back to the Ace Chase. Had a windy blustery day the other day out there.

Speaker 3:

It looks a little rusty, but he's got spring, summer, still chipping the ice off him.

Speaker 1:

yeah, yeah, that's fine, but I'm glad to see him back, I'm glad that was hilarious when he the course was flooded and he's pulling crawdads out of the middle of the fairway yeah, yeah it's fun to watch those.

Speaker 1:

So, uh, some of the things we got on tap we'll be talking about tonight. Uh, nc2a tournament is getting ready to kick off, so Vegas is off the chains nuts right now. The players wrapped up. Rory got another players championship. We'll be talking about that. Let's see. Live Golf was out in Hong Kong. The LPGA is coming to Vegas. Shadow Creek here real soon.

Speaker 3:

You know, what's very funny about Live is I got an email and it's like I I can't remember the title, but it was like joaquin neiman does something great at the live tournament. I was like I didn't even know it was on.

Speaker 1:

I had no idea a lot of people didn't know it was on. Uh, we got maddie g back again this week with another weekend forecast, and this one is good, I promise you, um. And then, uh, my video hit a million views, which still blows me away he's viral.

Speaker 3:

Ladies and gentlemen, he's a star the tacoma irons are coming.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, um, and then then we could wrap up the show with a little bit of talk about social hate, because gonna gonna take trent's spot at the next creator oh that's funny.

Speaker 1:

Laughing still hurts. Take it easy on me. So, uh, unbeknownst to a bunch of people out there, after last week's show, I got up Wednesday and took my kid to school and was feeling good and was talking with my boss. He's like, hey, you want to work a couple of these extra events that we need? And I'm like, yeah, sure, I said I got a little funky head cold but should be fine. Three hours later I'm out, I'm dead.

Speaker 1:

Like I'm here, man Dead, and whatever this thing hit'm here, man Dead and whatever this thing hit me, it hit me hard Because I was sick when we played Sienna for the first VGN event. I was ill. I had a head cold, I wasn't feeling good, I was taking cold medicine, Yada yada, yada, but I was able to function. Erica didn't even know I was sick, because I'm just not somebody that likes to complain about being sick. I just try to get my shit done and handle it. This is not. I was in bed.

Speaker 3:

You're sick, bro, soak it in as much as you can. That's mean.

Speaker 1:

It knocked me on my ass and my body was reacting hardcore to it Cold sweats, vomiting, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, uh, chills, I mean, it was the full gambit.

Speaker 1:

full gambit I had jailbird flu, jailbird flu, I like that. Uh, I had a doctor's appointment friday just for some, uh, blood work checkup, and so I went in and the lady's like you don't look like you feel good, I'm like I do not feel good, and uh, so I got covid tested, I got flu tested, all came back negative, just a nasty lung infection. So did my little z-pack and antibiotics and uh, by yesterday I started feeling like a human again. But man, why I don't recommend the. The lung infection. It is not.

Speaker 3:

It is not pleasant yeah, well, being sick is not pleasant at all. I mean, it's terrible, it's not?

Speaker 1:

fun at all. There's some sicknesses that it just sucks for a couple of days.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I mean, the good thing about being sick is you don't have to go to work, you get to drink Gatorade.

Speaker 1:

I mean, you know, well, I I am somebody that loves me a good 10, 12 hours of sleep. You know that never happens.

Speaker 3:

I didn't get any of it because I couldn't sleep.

Speaker 1:

I I didn't get any of it because I couldn't sleep. I was tossing and turning so much because I was coughing so much.

Speaker 3:

Erica shacked up in her other room just because she was like I can't be around this, but if you don't get that, then you get to watch reruns of Seinfeld.

Speaker 4:

That's also a great benefit too. Price is right yeah.

Speaker 3:

Price is right.

Speaker 1:

That's the.

Speaker 3:

OG sick my whoop.

Speaker 1:

It was hilarious right, my whoo gee sick, my whoop. It was hilarious being sick as a kid. So like midnight, wednesday, uh it a report came through that you know, during the last 600 minutes, uh, my jiu-jitsu training exceeded all my, uh, you know, stress things and I'm like what this? So I looked and yeah, so my whoop thought I was doing j doing jujitsu at midnight.

Speaker 1:

That's how crazy my body was reacting wow, shout out, whoop looking for sponsors yeah, absolutely yeah, my read you know, jeff marshall is always posting when he has a bad night recovery. Yeah, so I said in mind I'm like this out. I said my whoop thought I was doing jujitsu, that's funny.

Speaker 1:

It was too, funny but, as you said, good thing about being sick, good thing about it being a major. This past weekend I watched a shit ton of the players, a shit ton of the players and it was fun. That's a damn good golf tournament and I I seriously think it needs to have a moniker of being a major championship. That same venue every year. There's a ton of history, elite class of players, one of the best fields in golf, oh yeah of course you know what even classifies a major.

Speaker 3:

So it's, it's interesting. You know what I love about players week is all the interesting um facts and things that pete died stories videos and the pete died stories and a new one I never heard of.

Speaker 3:

Um, maybe I missed it or maybe my memory and I need ginkgo bilboa start taking that, maybe. But uh, that the the lakes are the sand mines where they had to dig out the sand. Uh, because it was all swamp to top the swamp, so all the lakes were just where the sand mines were, so they dug it all out to throw it on top of the swamp, and then they just filled it with water I, I never heard that yeah really interesting.

Speaker 1:

Love all those videos oh, there's so much, so much good stuff, but what I mean good lord that, golf course is they are making it harder, which I love.

Speaker 3:

The 14th was diabolical for everybody, davis love is uh on on the, on the ground, trying to make it, you know, trying to bring it back to life a little bit, you know, uh to make it what pete saw and what it was supposed to be.

Speaker 1:

So I loved I loved it yeah, the, the, the greens were firm, in some sections fast and soft, and others it was just. And the wind really made it challenging. And listening to some of the caddies having the conversations with their players, like Rory on Monday, his final shot into 18, it was 140, and he's like I'm playing this 167, you know all the way to the back it's like he's playing a 27-yard win shot. You know, that's just. It's fun to watch and fun to see and to be able to see them execute that stuff. But fairways were not hit regularly except for jj spawn. That. That dude. Much respect to him, even besides what he's putting with. But uh, dude is one of the best ball strikers I've seen in a while. I mean, he just he was on point, shot after shot after shot. He was just. Oh, it was. It was beautiful to watch and even that player was.

Speaker 3:

He got one win.

Speaker 1:

Right, he's got one win yeah hit that, that one shot where his foot slipped. Uh on on sunday, this final on 18 on 18 yeah when his foot slipped and he still still clipped that ball perfectly. I'm like I said that happens to me that ball's 30 yards in the water and he almost made that putt too.

Speaker 3:

So fucking close very close, very close.

Speaker 1:

Uh, it was uh. Hey, look, rocky's on ig, what's?

Speaker 3:

up roy's, hey, go check out go check out the the godfather's pacific coast uh youtube uh series. Go check that out. I watched that last night rory's a clown why?

Speaker 1:

why do you think rory's a clown? I?

Speaker 3:

mean I'm not a huge rory fan, right, so I understand where he's coming from. Like I feel like rory plays games like, and it's like, uh, you know, oh, I'm the, you know I'm good, I'm like, oh well, I don't.

Speaker 3:

He's just like, he just he feels wishy-washy to me, like rory's a fantastic player, probably arguably the greatest driver of a golf ball there ever was, right, but he, just his attitude is so wishy-washy sometimes like it's hard to believe genuine yeah, sometimes I love what he says, sometimes I hate what he says and half the time it feels genuine, half the time it doesn't feel genuine and and I think that's where it is, you know, and a lot of people that grew up, you know, back when he was coming up and he was on Nike and he was this young, fat kid and now he's this old dad with gray hair and he's got a little baby, you know, and it it just feels. It just feels different, like he's at a different echelon now, like where he is. He is a prime player in the PGA tour and I don't know if there's some like something about him where he feels better than people. But that's what it feels like to me sometimes, like, well, you know, I don't, I'm better than everyone I've been around.

Speaker 3:

Like yeah, I can see that that's how I feel sometimes dan yeah he does seem to have.

Speaker 4:

He does seem to have. He like an opinion about anything and everything. Like anytime there's something that comes up that's either tour related or live related or something like that. It's always like rory's got something to say. And I agree, I agree with you. 100, joe. He is. He's been very wishy-washy, you know, he was so anti-live in the beginning and then now he's like flip-flopping, changing his tune on that. So yeah, I don't know. I I think maybe he feels like he has enough relevance in on the pga tour to be a significant voice, which he might, might, possibly, you know, might possibly be. But more often than not he's just kind of reversing and changing tune a lot and ends up sticking his foot in his mouth a lot and it kind of comes off a little unsavory. So yeah, I, I agree, I agree with you, with you, joe yeah they.

Speaker 1:

the tour, I think, has put a lot of pressure on him to be the man and that could be what it is.

Speaker 3:

I mean, you know, Tiger's gone, so it's like they need another.

Speaker 1:

they need another and they're not going to get it out of Scotty Cause. No, definitely, it's just, that's just not going to happen.

Speaker 3:

They need to start. Just you know. Talking to JJ spawn, I mean I've never seen anyone hard to like. I've never seen anyone more in disbelief of a shot that they hit than JJ Smart Like he, I feel like it's just his resting face.

Speaker 3:

I feel like he fully believed that was in the hole. He's like why is everybody know that that's in the hole? You know, if, like he didn't see it, he felt like he had a good shot and I feel like he thought that was in the hole the whole time and he's like why are people acting like that?

Speaker 1:

it's in the hole oh right, hey, it looked like to me that that kid gave rory his phone, so I don't know what you're talking about. Rocky, I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. No, he, he can't be very unlikable. So I uh, I get it. I get it. Yeah, um, I do like rocky's word.

Speaker 3:

He said he's entitled I, I like, I, I I kind of get that. I will say this too.

Speaker 4:

I will say this too, go ahead and finish on that yeah, I don't.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I get that he's. You know, he's the big dog of the PGA Tour now he's the big dog, but but what did he do to get there? It's not like they just handed it to him. Dude has been around for a while now and he's been a top player for a long time. He's got major champions, that doesn't matter if it goes to your head. Been around for a while now and he's been a top player for a long time he's got major champions.

Speaker 3:

That doesn't matter. That doesn't matter if it goes to your head do you think it's gone to his head? Yeah, I think it might have sometimes 50 of the time it. It's gone to his head all the time, you know 60 of the time. It works every time anger man 60% of the time. It works every time.

Speaker 1:

Anger man Greenlee chime in. What do you think Rory entitled? Has the winds gone to his head? No-transcript. Yeah, I mean 28 wins, would you know? Certainly go to my head. I mean, I've got two in the vgn, I'm pretty proud of those.

Speaker 3:

So I don't, I don't think it's wins, I think he's the poster child, now he can't do no wrong. And then maybe he feels like he can't do any wrong because he's the poster child, now you know who else is he, who else is he gonna get? Who else are they going to?

Speaker 4:

get Rob chimed in 60% of the time Joe was 100% right, let's go Good stuff.

Speaker 1:

So with that win at the players, he did join this exclusive category, which I didn't think it was that exclusive.

Speaker 3:

They always come up with categories. They always come up there's always. There's always those guys sitting back there just going okay, we got this one, if he wins, uh calmore cow was also the first guy that you know did what tiger did before the age of 22, like yes, where's he at? So, uh, so jack tiger.

Speaker 1:

So Jack, tiger, scotty and Rory are now the only four players that have two player championships and two majors.

Speaker 3:

Well, it's not a major, so I think it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I understand, but I mean I don't know if they'll ever do it, because everybody says hey, it's the fifth major and I think the event has enough clout that it's just you won the players. It's not a major. I've got 10 majors and four players.

Speaker 3:

We've been over this before there's nothing that actually classifies anything as a major it's just the lpga.

Speaker 4:

Didn't the lpga just make like a fifth or sixth major, like five or six years ago?

Speaker 1:

yep, the one in uh in france. Yeah, so why?

Speaker 4:

can't. Why can't the pga just, why can't the pga just adopt what they did and fucking make the players a fifth?

Speaker 3:

yeah, but you're gonna see the point.

Speaker 1:

If there's, there's nothing that actually classifies anything as a major, yes, there is we call it a major, pga tour calls it a major, the golf media calls it a major.

Speaker 3:

That's okay, well, so we got it. So then we got to get us together. We gotta get the pga tour together. We gotta get the media.

Speaker 1:

Everybody knows what the four majors are.

Speaker 4:

Just the PGA Tour and the USGA I need to find that video. The governing bodies declare what a major is.

Speaker 3:

I guess, I need to find this video. I need to find this video. Jack Nicholson, jack Nicholson, yeah, jack Nicholson, he was in. No Jack Nicholson, he played the Joker, he was the one that said it. I gotta find it.

Speaker 1:

I gotta find this video because there's nothing, we need him but yes, jack Nicholas, the bear, the golden bear yeah, I mean you say that technically there may not be something on paper, but everybody knows what the four majors are. It's not like it's Because of what he said.

Speaker 3:

I got to find this video. Guys, I'm sorry, hold on, but if it wasn't, true, nobody would be calling them that.

Speaker 1:

There's truth to it.

Speaker 3:

They are the four majors. What class despises a VGN major Me? Because you named them. Yeah, you named them. You're Jack Nicklaus in this scenario. You named them.

Speaker 1:

Yes, but there's significant events because we try to play them at a.

Speaker 3:

I don't know if the board of directors ever said this one's a major.

Speaker 4:

There's got gotta be some golf history on it. I mean, the British amateur and the US amateur were considered majors back 100 years ago when Bobby. Jones was winning them, so evidently the PGA championship and the Masters weren't around, so there's gotta be something in the books, in the annals of history, that explain why the masters of history and and the and the pga championship, how they became majors.

Speaker 1:

There's got to be some kind of documentation on that, yeah I'm sure at some point the, the pga of amer America was like we need to have our own championship yes, yes, the whole thing comes down to Jack Nicklaus.

Speaker 3:

I need to find this history because I swear I'm right Jack Nicklaus and the four majors.

Speaker 1:

I'm not saying you're wrong. Nobody's calling you saying you're wrong. You're wrong, joe. I calling you're wrong, I just you're wrong, joe. Oh, I mean, dan is calling you wrong no, so what?

Speaker 4:

no? 60 percent of the time. He's 100 right, so you could be in the 60 right now I got.

Speaker 3:

I got 10 on 50, 50. So hey, I got a 40 chance regardless oh majors. I'm gonna find this so, uh, you guys can talk all right as you will uh, so uh, while joe's looking at that.

Speaker 1:

Uh, how much live hong kong?

Speaker 1:

did you watch dan this many minutes zero, and you know what it was on prime time and I had no clue that it was going on oh, I, I knew because, uh, um, oh, my, I'm. I can't believe. I just drew an utter blank one of one of our vgm players, the guy who just won the first diamonds division, uh, at siena. He's a caddy. Uh, yeah, caddy's for na, I'm thinking. Pretty sure it's not uh, and so I've been following him on his journey to singapore, hong kong, so that's, that's the only reason I knew it was going on, uh. But I, uh, I'm like, oh cool, we got uh, you know the players. And then, oh, it's prime time eight o'clock at night. I'll put that on. And yeah, uh, I, I tried.

Speaker 4:

I tried.

Speaker 1:

I tried, I couldn't get into it I get it, I get it. And those courses over there are incredible. It's just it's fun to look at. It's a hard watch man.

Speaker 4:

I get it. It's way better to go to live than to watch it on TV. Yeah, I had a much better time at. Lvccvcc than watching it on tv so much more enjoyable.

Speaker 1:

Um, another thing we could talk about, uh at the players that took place was the creator. The creator, classic uh and dan. Did you watch any of that? Zero minutes of that too? Oh man, uh, it was. It was pretty good, it was. It was fun to watch. Trent from Barstool got annihilated on social media. Not surprised, no, not surprised. I mean it's and that's one of the things, that's the social hate going on later that I kind of wanted to chat about, because Trey posted something and just got berated. Like I mean, you thought the the live fanboys coming after me was bad, like he was sending me screenshots of some of the things that people were saying and he had his phone number on his ig account for people for you know, to hate text and he was getting fucking people hate texting him.

Speaker 1:

Trey was, yeah yeah, it was it was bad um and it's like I mean yeah I get it is.

Speaker 1:

It's a, it's a an event. It means nothing, it's for fun. It was fun to watch um, but I mean, he stunk it up pretty bad and a lot of people were saying what the fuck are they doing out there? You know, and oh my goodness, whoo the, the people came out the woodworks defending him. Um, you know it's, it's a special place, it's a special course, uh, but they had access to it. You know, they played each lake, which also is another special place and uh, it's, it was.

Speaker 1:

Uh, it was a hard watch, um, but you know, it is what it is. That's. That's what is going to happen sometimes when you put that out there solly, from no lane up, did great, made it to the the uh playoff and, uh, you know, uh it was. It was a fun watch. I think that the production was good and it really showed the teeth of that course, of how brutal it can be I can.

Speaker 4:

I can. I can understand some people getting you know bent out of shape about you know trent being in there or whatever. But like, but honestly, like who gives a shit? Like you know that guy's part of a huge, huge um thing with barstool sports and barstool golf and all that stuff. And you know people, just people just suck. You know they need to get over it and just it is what it is. You know the guy, the guy's terrible, he knows it. He's probably knows that he doesn't deserve to be there, but who you're not going to turn down a chance to he owns it in a tournament?

Speaker 4:

well, exactly. But in a place like that and with those kind of people, like, of course you're going to play in it, don't you know it's, I don't know and also the barstool.

Speaker 3:

The barstool guys played against each other to see who was going to go. Yeah yeah, yeah, so like he won, he won that spot I mean, yeah, I know it's.

Speaker 4:

I just I just, you know, like I said, people are people sucking.

Speaker 3:

I'm just getting tired of them, yeah I think him pulling out balls, balls, balls until he hit the green, that was a massive like crowd energizer, like people loved it. Oh yeah, because he represents the normal guy exactly that's his 10 cup moment you know, live on national television or and that's what.

Speaker 3:

I feel, like that's what the creator classic is for. It's like nobody in the world is going to relate to anybody on the PGA tour like oh yeah, I hit that shot. But everybody, everybody, everybody watching to relate to anybody on the pga tour like, oh yeah, I hit that shot. But everybody, everybody, everybody watching can relate to trent, right, everybody and it's all about relation, you know, and I who cares?

Speaker 3:

if he came in last he didn't care, so let him have his time in the sun, man, like if. If you were given that opportunity, I guarantee you would be shaking in your boots, and he handled that very well oh, yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 1:

But that does raise the question do they need to make sure that the golf skill set out there for a bit like that?

Speaker 3:

no, okay no, it's the creator classic. Nobody's getting a fucking Ben Hogan jacket. Nobody's getting a green jacket. Who gives a fuck? Grant Horvat won Cool yeah. He was the best of probably four players that day. Good for him. I loved the interview that Grant Horvat did, where he's like if you got a PGA Tour invite to a tour stop, would you join. He's like no, I mean, I don't know that answer. Those guys are miles better than me, and if the time is right, maybe, but like he knows it, he knows how much better they are, and there's better players in the creators and there's better players in the creators and there's worse players in the creators.

Speaker 3:

So like, let trent have his fucking day in the sun and let grant enjoy his time, but he knows he's not as good as them, so it doesn't. It's not a fucking major. Nobody's getting a green jacket out there. It's a. It's an entertainment product and enjoy the watch.

Speaker 1:

That's all it is yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. All right, um, let's see what else we got here. I'll resi chime in and make it more like big break. Yeah, that would be awesome. I would love to see bring big break back. That was, yeah, that was a great show to watch.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, we'll get Dan on there. Bring it back, we'll get Dan on there.

Speaker 1:

LPGA is coming back to Vegas for the match play event that they have out there. I sent Gigi a message earlier asking her if she was in the shadow event.

Speaker 3:

She just responded.

Speaker 1:

I saw it pop up. I'm reading it right now, as of now, no, but to determine, play for a withdraw and then maybe, hopefully, she can get into that. She played really well over in Japan where they were, where the LPGA just was. She was in the final group, let's see. So that is, it'll be out of shadow. You know, always fun to see shadow on TV, especially when there's real golfers out there playing real golf. So, all right, let's bring in Maddie G real quick. We'll do the weather and yeah do that.

Speaker 2:

What's up everybody? It's Firstler meteorologist Matt Gontarga, the Chasing Daylight podcast, for a forecast. This upcoming weekend Looks like spring has finally arrived. We have temperatures in the mid to upper 70s both Saturday and Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and light winds for the most part, so we're looking at a very warm weekend, warmer than average. Average is around low 70s for this time of year. So looking at perfect conditions, it's here.

Speaker 1:

The warm weather. It's sunscreen season, the warm weather is here. You, maddie g, if you don't know, you can catch matt in the mornings on fox 5. He is the morning weather man. Um, yeah, definitely looking for I got. Uh, we got, I'm playing fry. I'm finally getting out with woody, uh, me, him and chapman are playing Boulder Creek Friday morning, and then Dan, jeremy, myself and Reed. I haven't played golf with Reed in a long time. We got Lex on Sunday, so that'll be good times. Jeremy and I were at a golf stop last night watching Z hit Dude. That little kid just fires balls after balls, after balls, after balls oh, to have the energy oh my god.

Speaker 1:

I told jeremy. I said how long does he do this for? I said I'm getting tired watching him.

Speaker 3:

He was like an hour just raking just waiting for jeremy to buy a foresight and like set up in his garage. Like it's coming, it's going to happen.

Speaker 1:

And we're going to have our own sim garage that we can just go play at. Then go for a dip, hey we're just going to move in.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he's got room. They got room over there.

Speaker 1:

Too funny, but yeah yeah.

Speaker 3:

So Cal shout out Birdies and and bourbon, he's in town next week. Uh, tuesday is a no-go. So it looks like we might be trying to grab piute on wednesday. So hopefully that happens. If not, I'm gonna tell him stop fucking around, let's just go play the classic, let's go to national. So if anybody's up for wednesday, you let me know let's see what's going on next. You let me know and uh you guys need to send me like 20 each because we owe him a bottle of bourbon, because we lost.

Speaker 1:

I thought you took care of that already. I already paid you for that.

Speaker 3:

What are you talking about?

Speaker 1:

I'm pretty sure I paid you for that.

Speaker 4:

I bought you a whole bottle, pretty sure we paid you for that.

Speaker 3:

I guess he's getting a bottle of water.

Speaker 1:

Getting some CVS and cap.

Speaker 3:

I'm dying.

Speaker 1:

Getting like four mini bottles from the target section. The mini bottle, the travel section there you go. Uh, no, yeah, we definitely make that happen. I know we still owe him for that. Yeah, uh, yeah, as of right now, I don't have anything going on on wednesday. I just can't do piu during the week. It's just too far and you know, takes for takes me, it's two hours of drive time plus golf for me.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, there's not a CVS out there to grab any medication that you might need.

Speaker 1:

No, you got the Paiute. Stop the smoke shop.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's on a farm, get some Paiute out there.

Speaker 1:

Your Doritos and Diet Coke were no tax dollars. So yeah, that's great.

Speaker 3:

It's called New Woo, new Woo, new Woo.

Speaker 1:

New Woo. New Woo North.

Speaker 3:

I think they might have an event going out there, because I looked this morning pretty early and everything it's called the NCAA tournament.

Speaker 1:

Oh, they're out there, okay, so I figured no, it's going on in the country and everybody's in vegas and everybody is playing golf before the tournament games. And no, I would I looked early like and there was nothing usually there's like a there's not even like a 5 pm, so yeah, uh john cap was over here today uh doing some uh adjustments on his clubs and, um, he's trying to get out because his birthday is saturday and he's like, dude, there's nothing, there's nothing, nothing. He goes.

Speaker 3:

Chimera was 100 bucks at at uh noon well, I looked at national and there was a bunch of times yeah, a ton of times, yeah good for national yeah, nice. Well, that'd probably be bad not good yeah that would be bad for national if every everyone else let me rephrase that it's good, national has times.

Speaker 1:

Let's find out why they have times first. Yeah, because they should not have times.

Speaker 3:

Last time we were out there, the greens were fantastic. A ton of history. That's a place you need to bring a newcomer into town.

Speaker 4:

Great customer service out there.

Speaker 3:

The starter is amazing. He's a really good guy.

Speaker 2:

Great turn dog.

Speaker 3:

Dogs on the Barbie. Starter is amazing. He's a really good guy. Yeah yeah, Dylan Great turn dog Dogs on the Barbie. Robbie says oh my.

Speaker 4:

Thank you, yeah, thank you.

Speaker 1:

Miss me with that one.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

That's a hard pass. Hard pass, jesus Christ. What is going on, people Unbelievable, all right, explosion. Hard pass, jesus christ. What is going on, people unbelievable, all right, um, explosion. So, uh, as I said earlier, the the my little, my little putting video uh hit a million views, which I guess it just boggles my mind that that how that guy misused. But it happened. And so I said I was going to do, if it got to a million views, I was going to do a giveaway. So, uh, as I saw it, it hit 900 000.

Speaker 1:

I started uh, making things happen and I did a little video today on 1440 golf where I showed all the stuff that I have for the giveaway um, which is, uh, the uh jailbird slant neck putter, which is the jailbird slant neck putter, which is the same putter used in the video giveaway, the. I got a dozen of the Chrome tour, a triple track balls. I have a swag head cover. I got a golf pride reverse taper grip. I've got a 1440 hat, this very hat that I'm wearing right here. I also have a t-shirt that says 1440 golf can't afford a lab putter and some stickers along with it. And then LA Golf reached out to me today and said, soho shaft is coming your way. So all together, you know, putter shaft, grip, head cover stickers, some swag stuff approaching $850. So it's a nice little giveaway just for watching a video.

Speaker 1:

So I'll be putting together the post here shortly. You know it's like all the other ones. You know I'll be putting together the post here shortly. It's like all the other ones, like the post tag a friend got to be following to win type stuff and I'll be giving that away and the winner can decide if you want me to put the shaft on or I'll just throw it all in the box and you can take care of it on your own. It doesn't matter to me, I'll put it together for you if you want. But if you want to take care of it, you own. It doesn't matter to me, I'll. I'll put it together for you if you want. But if you want to take care of it, you want to flip it. I don't give a shit. Uh, it's uh just a kind of fun thing to do to uh say thanks for all those.

Speaker 1:

Even the ass hats that you know, because there was quite a few of them. So my little way of giving back it it's an anomaly, it's, it's probably will never happen again, uh, but uh, it was fun. It was fun to see that side of social media. Uh, the good side of it. The bad side of it, that's that there's a lot of people that need some help, like like seriously so funny, it's so interesting, like that side it's.

Speaker 3:

You know I hold back a lot on oh dude, there's things I want to say, but I'm like, hey, I'm a good human. I don't need to say that to this person, I don't know them. But there's people that no filter, like dig, they just want, they just need something. They need something out of you.

Speaker 1:

You know it's gonna make me feel so much better about my life by fat shaming this person.

Speaker 3:

You know, it's just, it's wild, it's hey, don't old shame old golfers on instagram. You know you're gonna get old too, okay, yes, don't old shame dude, what am I?

Speaker 1:

what are my favorite videos on youtube ever is the kids with the remote control car, where they go up and swipe the guy's golf ball out of the way and he takes his putter and just smashes their car, all the shit like what the hell's wrong with you. He's like what's wrong with me. I was like get him, old man oh funny, so funny yeah, so, um, but yeah, I, I don't know it.

Speaker 1:

It it makes, I mean, as as enjoyable as it was as seeing all the interactions with it. You know, I would love to be able to. You know, like I early, this wasn't something I sat down and bullet pointed and did a, you know, a vision board on how to create a post to go viral. This was just something that I grabbed my phone and recorded this real quick and that kind of. You know, I was talking with Cyrus about it and he's like dude, it's awesome. You know, it's just something that caught and went.

Speaker 3:

There was some controversy with it I'm curious from your perspective, like can you imagine how roger steel, grant horvat, eric anders lang, like how they feel because they probably get hit like bob bobby bobby dubs is probably talking shit about eric andersling's voice every day, like just drilling him, just going? Bob would never do that, I don't think.

Speaker 3:

But um, like the amount of people that just dig at these people that are the influencers in golf and what they have to deal with, I mean you're, you're just you right, like that's that's the first one and and you dealt with it and it's so crazy like imagine what these bigger guys have to deal with it's, it's wild and I mean, you know, you, there were some conversations you really look forward to having with people.

Speaker 1:

When you see the comments, you're like, oh, this person doesn't sound like an idiot. They sound like they actually know what they're talking about. Let's have a conversation with them. And sometimes I'd get lucky and have that conversation, other times not so lucky. And then you have somebody that leaves a comment and it's like uh, do I do? No, you know, there's the little fish guy from star wars it's a trap.

Speaker 1:

It's like yeah, don't do it and I'm like, ah, let's do it. And then, oh shit, I shouldn't have done that, you know. Yeah, so you gotta, you gotta kind of filter yourself before you throw your thoughts out there, because first thing that I realized, or I learned is, my god, everybody's opinion is so strongly their opinion and, yeah, you can have. It's fine to have your opinions, I agree with it. But just because you have your opinions doesn't mean everybody else's opinion is wrong, you know and yeah, exactly, yeah, yeah, you know I think that's where it's gotten lost.

Speaker 3:

Is it's my way or the highway? Yeah, you know and it's.

Speaker 1:

It's the same thing with what's going on our politics in the country. You know it's a god forbid. If you, if you like the left, then you're fucked up. If you like the right, then you're fucked up. If you like the right, you're fucked up. There's no in between. It's so cut and dry and it doesn't need to be that way. One of the things that sparked this whole video posting was that I am not a fan of the revealer being used to display a putter right and some of the biggest comments coming back. We're talking about what zero torque does. You don't understand zero torque. You don't understand my angle violence. Okay, that's fine, but you guys know Blair from BGT. I've been chatting with him and Greenlee and Blair and I are going to do a collaboration on something that I am really like commercials Shout out Chris Torres on something that I am really bad, like shamwell commercials shout out chris torres, shout out the world famous uh

Speaker 1:

that's funny uh, so we're gonna, we're gonna do this, this collaboration on some stuff that I think is really gonna open the eyes of some things to a lot of people. So, uh, the initial findings that he has, he has come up with so far, it's remarkable, and this isn't just focusing on the lab, this is focusing on some other things. Um, but it it's going to be, and if anybody ever listened to our interview with blair, arguably one of the smartest guys, I've ever met in my life yeah, dude brilliant, brilliant man.

Speaker 1:

Uh, if there's anybody that you want to model your knowledge of the game after, he is one of them. So uh, he's a mad scientist for sure, yeah I highly respect his, his thoughts, his, his opinions and when he reached out and said, hey, you want to do this, I was like, yes, 100%. So that will be fun and I think it'll be eye-opening. So look for that down the road one day. Hey, did you see Mr Regala's post today? Vijay's post today.

Speaker 3:

What Making a putt without yeah?

Speaker 1:

I sent him a picture. I go hmm, that emoji and he's like no lab, right. I said don't worry, I won't tell anybody, it's okay.

Speaker 3:

Dude. That's the entire, the entire thing, the whole spectrum is what do you enjoy putting with? What looks good to you, what works for you? That's the whole thing. That's all it is. It's all it is. It works for you. Fucking, run it rock. If a fucking a pencil you want to putt with a pencil, if you can drain putts with a pencil, do it. That's all it is. It's what works for you. It's so personal.

Speaker 1:

The putter is so fucking personal a smoke detector you may have to elaborate a little bit on that one.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I don't get it. I took the battery out of mine. I don't have a battery in this one. I put a new one in there and it kept fucking beeping, so I took it out get that fixed, joe, that's important. I put a new battery in and it kept beeping. What do you want me to do?

Speaker 4:

Figure it out. Get in the smoke detector.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I probably need to do that.

Speaker 1:

He said his video. Watch it again. Okay, the smoke detector going off in the background. I must not have the volume up. I was just like, hmm, that looks kind of fishy there it's true, man putter is so personal oh, hey, and and don't take it personal. People don't like your putter because putters are personal we found a mid mallet that fits in a blade head cover. Yeah for joe, so joe might be testing out a different putter.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I might, who knows, I did putt much better uh with uh well, you scared the butter yeah, I said hey, how much think, how much better you'll putt after putting with a mallet. Oh my, God, hey, don't get comfortable. Don't get comfortable, I'll kick you out of here.

Speaker 1:

Just because you're back in the bag right now doesn't mean you're out of the bag in a couple weeks.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's funny. Just do work, do work.

Speaker 4:

Do work son.

Speaker 3:

Do what you're supposed to do, yeah. If you're not to do, work, son. And if you're not gonna work, work, son.

Speaker 1:

And if you're not, gonna work, work, son, and if you're not gonna work, then yeah. If you're not gonna work, then then yeah. If you're not gonna work, then then yeah. If you're not gonna work, then we'll figure something else out. We'll figure something else out we'll figure something else out.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you're not. Yeah, you're not. Yeah, you're not. You're here for a good time. You're not. You're here for a good time.

Speaker 1:

He's deploying code all over this globe.

Speaker 3:

You know he's in the matrix right now. He's in the matrix right now.

Speaker 4:

Now he's in the matrix right now ford or something like that, general ford or something like that general ford or something like that.

Speaker 3:

General motors motors motors deploying code. Deploying code is off right now deploying code is off right now deploying code is off right now.

Speaker 1:

Uh okay, uh tgl uh. Did anybody watch it? Uh okay, uh tgl uh did anybody watch it?

Speaker 3:

uh, okay, uh, tgl. Uh, did anybody watch? No, I went to go get dollar tacos at Fosto's for the fam and I got an email and I was like, oh shit, I totally forgot that was tonight.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I've been on a Deli Boys binge which….

Speaker 4:

What's Deli Boys?

Speaker 1:

It's a show on Hulu. It's a Hulu show. Hulu comedy show. It's pretty funny. Hulu comedy show. It's pretty funny. Atlanta won tonight. That's JT, billy Horschel, lucas Glover and Patrick Cantlay. They're going to play the New York squad of Matty Fitz, vijay Fowler, xander Schauffele and Camus.

Speaker 3:

Vijay Fowler.

Speaker 1:

That'll take place next week. Roars was there tonight. He got some tickets so he was hanging out. Yeah, he asked me last week hey, you want to come out for the? And I was like, yeah, I don't think air tickets a week out to Miami are going to be anywhere near what I want to pay to go out there. So, yeah, they weren't. So I didn't um, but yeah though, but that, uh, next week will be the last week for tgl until they come back. Um, I think they learned a lot about this. Yeah, I have a feeling we might see this more. December, january.

Speaker 3:

I think that would be great. That would do wonders for them.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think they could do a November through January kind of like with the NFL playoffs and just do NFL playoffs and TGL the next night and not have to worry about interference from tennis matches and basketball and March.

Speaker 3:

Madness Golden Knights hockey games.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, golden Knights hockey games Exactly. Boys are in a funk right now, man, they need to get out of that shit. Let's see what else we got going on. So yeah, so that'll be next week. Oh, here, let me, I'm going to do a product plug Not paid, these are not paid, but if you're looking for a cough, drop these right here, because I've been doing a lot of coughing lately.

Speaker 3:

Because I've been doing a lot of coughing lately uh, right here, arguably the best cough drop in the history of planet earth, fisherman's friend, fisherman's friend, cough drops you find them at your local local seafoodery.

Speaker 1:

Yes, uh, amazon, it comes in like a box of 400. Um, but amazing, amazing little cock up right there.

Speaker 3:

Fisherman's friend go get you some. I always loved luden's, I mean those that's my go-to but these candy, it's candy these yeah amazing, absolutely amazing. Big luden's guy switching a fisherman's friend I might have to fish fisherman's friend is your friend.

Speaker 1:

I, I can, I can. You know, as I put it in my mouth, I was like I could see this being on the boat and and, uh, you know, being like man, I'm really glad I have this right now, because the air is cold and I'm far from home. Yeah, yeah, great name. Great name. Uh, all right, we get anything else. Uh, I mean, we kind of talked about the social hate stuff.

Speaker 3:

It's, it's I do have one thing that I was I forgot to bring up last week. Let's do it. What the fuck is up with this trend? So you guys remember the trend of the big, so high, uh, cove or pasta, big letter hats, yeah what's up with this fucking upside down?

Speaker 1:

I don't get the upside down arc letters on hats I saw the vegas one and I was like why, why, why do you want it upside down?

Speaker 3:

I don't get it you're just old everybody's doing it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I don't get it municipal's doing it with some of their stuff. I just I.

Speaker 3:

It don't make a no sense to me yeah, I mean the first, the first one to do it. Okay, I can understand like makes sense, but everybody's copying them, just like the first people to do the the big letter. I don't yeah, and those the big letter ones, a lot of people and now they're starting to go backwards, like you have to read upside down and backwards. Have you seen that?

Speaker 1:

no, they're gonna start doing them reverse and you gotta only read the mirror yeah, exactly that might be you gotta take the hat off and read it from the back here, yeah, you gotta walk around like this here yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3:

Maybe, maybe it's a celebration thing, like you said, like I made a fucking birdie bitch, you know, something like that.

Speaker 1:

I don't know it's, it's confusing to me, I don't know did you see the, the mlb hats that came out, that they pulled off really fast? Yes, yes with the big logo in the middle and the written did you see those damn? Las vegas a's ass yeah, so they like texas. It's the written texas across.

Speaker 3:

And then they had the big angels was anals it was bad, oh nice, oh, just like yeah it was the a's one was like the big a's logo, and then it was like a's, a's, a's, and then the a was covered up, so it said ass, ass yeah, just not smart that's funny yeah, the, but they, they pulled them really quickly.

Speaker 1:

So that's when uh shit goes, uh sideways and nobody's there to catch it and like, how did this somebody?

Speaker 4:

got fired.

Speaker 3:

Somebody got fired yeah I'm sure clearly somebody got fired, yeah, if not, they're going to be overseeing the Japan new era quarter machines.

Speaker 1:

You know what I mean, yeah, find a bunch of those in the broad. What is it?

Speaker 2:

Broad Acres Open air spot meat.

Speaker 3:

It's going to have a tent of them Ass hats.

Speaker 1:

So we got the Valspars this weekend, another Florida course, and then, let's see, it's not until the first weekend in April when the LPGA is here and the Masters right after that. I mean, we're real close. We are really close, jay says he's hosting sunday.

Speaker 3:

So uh, joe, send me that link.

Speaker 1:

I'll order that food taste of the masterscom easy taste of the masters, taste of the masterscom the masters dot com and then next weekend.

Speaker 1:

Next weekend we got the VGN at Boulder Creek. That'll be good. We've got 70 players signed up right now, so that'll be good. Got two more spots that we're anxious to fill. We got 22 and 22 in the Spades and Hearts, so really nice turnout for those flights. I'm really excited about that ranch. We'll follow that up and then we're back in national yeah, so that's the season's off to a good start.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I got my my ti, five wood, three wood. Oh, I was hitting that at a golf stop last night. Such a good golf club. Such a good golf club, dude.

Speaker 1:

It was crazy because I've been chatting with Tim Flote trying to refine a couple things in my swing to eradicate some inconsistencies, and one of the things he's really wanted me to focus on lately is low point. Uh, which is the low point of the club. And you know, with an iron you definitely want the low point after the ball. Um, and you know, the the higher up the skill set, the further in front of the ball the low point is. You know, tour pros with a seven iron or four, five, six inches out in front of the ball at their low point. You know I I've always been like a picker, don't really take a big divot. Uh, so I've been working on my low point at home and then last night, seeing it, it was nice seeing you know, three, three inches after the ball is my low point. And then so z's up there hitting and I switch it to see low point on his. He's like two and a half, three inches after the ball.

Speaker 1:

I'm like you little shit, you little shit, good grief uh and then jeremy um, his, his low point is behind the ball. It's, it's wild, because I mean he's a, he picks the ball. You know he doesn't take a huge yeah, you guys are very shallow swings.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's why for how well he strikes it to hit it that far behind it. It's unbelievable um. And then, uh, believable um. And then, uh, he was hitting the five wood and his low point was far back too. And uh, I said, yeah, let's just change your stance a little bit, let's just move the ball back just a little bit, because you definitely want the low point on a fairway wood at the ball, yeah, to get everything out of it. And so he did that a couple times. He was hitting my five, he was carrying my five wood.

Speaker 4:

255 nice hell. Yeah, it's like good lord.

Speaker 3:

So have you seen that? Um, forget the name of it, but it's a training aid. It's like the wedge effects or something like that, where it's like a, it's got like a ruler and it's got like a, like a wedge to where you hit down, and their videos are like you want a low spinner, put the wedge two and a half inches behind the ball so it practices you hitting like more down on it. Want like a, you know?

Speaker 3:

I'll have to find that Cause I don't. I like I've been seeing it and I was like seems fairly interesting. I mean I don't, I don't practice a ton, I don't have a ton of time to practice, but like it makes sense, right. So, and then you want, like a high nipper, you know, you move it to four and a half inches, or give yourself some room, yeah yeah, I'll have to.

Speaker 3:

Next time I see it, I'll have to send it to you guys, but seems interesting, it's just. It's just you put the ball there and then there's a ruler and there's a wedge behind the ball so it forces you to hit down right. Next time I see it, I'll send it to you guys.

Speaker 1:

It seems interesting like an easy way to hurt the, hurt your hand no, well, I you don't do this while you're swinging.

Speaker 3:

So it's just a little piece of plastic that's a half inch and it's got like a. You know it's a.

Speaker 1:

Save you some money.

Speaker 3:

Put a towel down yeah, you can do that as well, of course, and a ruler. You need a ruler too it's three dollars, but it seems interesting. I mean, and, and that's a whole nother thing is training aids. So oh yeah we don't need to go into that right now.

Speaker 1:

I have one showing up tomorrow. So yeah, oh boy, oh yeah, it's just just just, uh just, tempo and swing training, nothing, it's super, it's super simple. But uh, yeah, nick faldo swing jacket laughing hurts up the pro sender oh, that's that.

Speaker 1:

That's what keeps my coolant model that I keep in the back of the truck from rattling. The Tour Sender. There's a lot of shams out there. I wouldn't say it's sham. Let me rephrase it Shamwow, shamwow. There's a lot of training aids out there that don't work. A there's a lot of training aids out there that don't work. There's a lot of training aids out there that do work. The ones that work for me might not work for you. The ones that work for you might not work for me so it is personal.

Speaker 1:

It's a trial and error thing. So, yeah, uh, it's kind of hard to dog a training aid, but uh, yeah, I did not have any luck with that. Yeah, you need a medicus seven iron. Oh, oh, no, I'm, I'm ready, we know someone that uses a fucking.

Speaker 3:

What is that?

Speaker 1:

uh, the the chipper square strike square strike, yeah, yeah he keeps it in his bag, yeah and smashes that thing too.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, some things work for who uses it.

Speaker 1:

Scotty. Scotty D wow when me and him and Joe played the preserve after the solstice, we just brought three clubs and yeah, he walks out there with a square, strike like shit on. Yeah, but he pipes it. Yeah it works, sure it does yeah it's too funny. So all right, joe. Uh, that'll do it for this week. Why don't you wrap it up for us and we can get the hell on out of here?

Speaker 3:

hey, thanks for tuning in chasing daylight podcast. We're here every single week. Thank you for chiming in, appreciate your comments, your shares, your, your voices. Uh, we're here every week. Masters is around the corner. Uh, and, hopefully you put money on rory on sunday night, because that was probably the most solid bet in history and and you got paid. But until next week, enjoy the Valspar and, yeah, start hard-boiling your eggs, because you need an egg sandwich soon. Masters is around the corner.

Speaker 2:

Chase the Deadline.
