326: Is the PGA Championship missing its identity as a major?

CHASING DAYLIGHT

Send us a text

Stunning course conditions at Las Vegas National set the stage for an exciting Vegas Golf Network tournament this weekend. The greens are rolling true, fairways are immaculate, but beware those crusty bunkers that might swallow your ball! We break down the weather forecast from our resident meteorologist Matty G, who predicts light rain and gusty winds that will separate the serious contenders from the fair-weather golfers.

Golf's equipment world is ablaze with controversy as Odyssey releases a putter bearing striking resemblance to the wildly popular Lab design. We dive deep into this heated debate, examining how Lab has disrupted the industry to become the third best-selling putter brand while exploring the long history of manufacturers "borrowing" designs from competitors. Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery, or has Odyssey crossed a line?

The identity crisis of the PGA Championship takes center stage as we analyze what makes golf's four majors distinct from one another. While Augusta demands precision, the US Open tests grit, and The Open challenges players with elements and terrain, what exactly is the PGA Championship's unique challenge? We propose solutions that could give this major a stronger identity, including a potential return to its match play roots.

Our custom Goodwood putters have arrived, and we share our first impressions after taking them for a spin. From immediate adoption to careful consideration, each host has a different experience with these beautifully crafted clubs. Will they replace our current gamers or become cherished collection pieces?

Share your thoughts on these topics and join us every Tuesday at 8:30pm Pacific Standard Time. Subscribe, leave a review, and follow us on social media to see photos of our new putters and join our golf community!

Speaker 1:

Hey, what is up? Everybody Hope all y'all are doing well out there. We kind of got some bad news in our golf family. Want to send some condolences out to the Boyd family. Little shook right now so I apologize in advance if the show is not up to the normal rhetoric and comedy levels that we sometimes bring in. So love you brother.

Speaker 2:

Love you, man, yeah, brother.

Speaker 1:

Here for you anytime. Absolutely, we're here for you, but thanks everybody for tuning in to this week's show. We've got a good one lined up for you. We've got some talk, we've got. The PGA Championship is taking place in the wet and soggy, always repetitious Quail Hollow Golf Course in North Carolina. The VGN this weekend plays our tournament at Las Vegas National. I was out there today with Julian and wow, wow course is in great shape uh, we have.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I mean we can talk about this. Right, we can. Yeah, everybody's talking about this right now. Uh, so we'll be chatting about that. We'll see if rocky hops in. And uh, we got our goodwood putters and uh been beating those up on the course and through our social media feeds. So if you have not seen those, go check them out, because the picks don't do them any chances, even though they're absolutely incredible. So um little windy today. A little windy, a little little. I I mean, can we just stop with the fricking wind?

Speaker 5:

Yeah, seriously.

Speaker 1:

Enough. I mean, good God it's May Stop with. The goddamn wind Got up this morning. We had a, we had an eight o'clock tee time at national and I mean it was blowing like 25, 30 miles out there. It was crazy. But it calmed down by about the fifth, sixth hole and then we had an absolutely gorgeous day. So unfortunately the weekend forecast doesn't look that good. We got Matty G.

Speaker 2:

Love it.

Speaker 1:

He's got some weather for us about the tournament. We'll get to that in a little bit, um, but let's see. So we played some golf this weekend. Uh, well, kind of I didn't. I played mine today, uh, but uh, you guys were out at national on saturday yeah, natty ice the natty Joe took an amazing picture of the urinal.

Speaker 2:

It was dope. I was just trying to be real creative, you know. I just you know I had my pins and passports kind of like eyes on and my Jeff I was trying to get my Jeff Marshawn and all that and it just it didn't work out as well as I thought. But I, you know I didn't take any pictures of. The only pictures I took that day were Goodwood putter pictures, uh, and we were waiting on every third hole, something like that, for a few minutes and I said, hey, leave your car keys in the cart or whatever it said, and I just took a picture and I posted it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah so.

Speaker 2:

I tried to be creative.

Speaker 1:

I tried to replicate the action today. You know I don't think mine caught. His caught the aura as much as joe's did yeah, it wasn't as good, that's for sure it wasn't as good so but, how was the course for you guys? We'll kind of preview this a little bit about what's, what's going on with the vgn out there, what, what was your thoughts? Um, and I'll I'll throw in my two bits it was great.

Speaker 2:

I think it was fantastic. The only thing that really sucked for us, I think, was it was like the first like hot round of the year for us and I like fell five holes. I was like, yeah, you know, I need to start exercising and hit planet fitness, you know hydration is key right now yeah, but other than that, fantastic, really great yeah, best.

Speaker 5:

I think it's the best I've seen national, especially the greens the greens are fantastic.

Speaker 2:

The putting green I would argue and one by the barn the greens were better like two months ago. Last time we played I think that was the best I've ever seen. Those greens was like two months ago. They're still great, they're still good, but they were better two months ago.

Speaker 1:

The first green's a little beat up.

Speaker 4:

Go ahead, Matt.

Speaker 1:

As I say, the first green's a little bit beat up, but other than that I think they're rolling pretty true and pretty consistent throughout the course.

Speaker 2:

They're really good.

Speaker 4:

Really good. Yeah, they've turned it around pretty good in the last year or so, but I will say this they need to start putting the cut and cups on the practice grades now. These COVID, that's enough. Ground pins suck, that's enough.

Speaker 1:

Rio, these covid above ground pins suck. That's enough. Do rio seiko still does that? It's like you're, yeah, you're, rio seiko. You know, could you imagine pulling up to shadow, or or, and having no, yeah, that's all the ground pins that's done.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, you gotta stop that shit for sure. Anywhere. Everywhere needs to stop that if they're still doing it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's garbage, it's dumb uh, the, the one issue that I think everybody's gonna have. Let's see what's rob saying here. Uh, agreed, played saturday and it was the best I've seen national since moving here in 2019. Oh nice, yeah, the the only great. And and uh, we, we had a couple of the other VGN guys out there with us and a couple couple lobs were thrown trying to bend the commissioner's ear on bunker rulings and there's like a layer of crust there is top of the bunkers and especially if nobody's played in the bunker, nobody's raked it, uh, and with their probably going to be rain on sunday, uh, the bunkers are going to be a little treacherous.

Speaker 1:

uh, they, they do drain, uh, to the low point, um, but but if the sun hits it and it dries, there's just this layer of crust where the ball doesn't settle down, it just sits on top.

Speaker 5:

But I was in bunkers like several times and they were fine. They were crusty, but they were fine.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there's some that are fantastic. Don't get me wrong.

Speaker 2:

And if you have an issue with that, don't fucking hit it in a bunker. Exactly, exactly. There you go, that's that's the main thing.

Speaker 1:

It is called a hazard for a reason, yeah. So, um, you know, we will still play our hey if it's in a footprint or if it's in a man-made depression by a mower or something that was in there tires, anything that is not natural. Yes, you will be able to rake it and replace it, but unfortunately, if you get a fried egg that has penetrated the layer of crust and now it's out there, I don't think, oh no, we had a we had a couple today.

Speaker 1:

You did oh yeah, to where you have a nice little perfect hole where it has gone through the crust and is now in the magma and uh, yeah, it's, uh, it is. It is not an easy shot, so, uh, you know, I said, well, you can't lift, clean and rake and replace don't hit it so high, bro.

Speaker 2:

Don't hit it so high then you know, a fried egg it's jeremy with this towering drive straight down the middle, just towering rory style jeremy so it's it's gonna be.

Speaker 1:

It's it's gonna be tough, but everybody's gonna have to play out of the bunkers out of the crusty bunkers some of them are really good.

Speaker 1:

Like we were on uh 12 and oh no, I'm sorry, we were on 16 and the bunker and the front is very thin, very crusty. It's a very difficult shot. You know. We went and hit like five, six shots out of it just to try and understand what we could do. Then the bunker in the back left perfect, perfect. So there's some. It's going to take a little bit of golf know-how to get yourself out of that.

Speaker 1:

But other than that-boxes are fantastic. The fairways are immaculate. They've cut down a lot of the the thick, thick grass around the greens, like on two, uh that that on the right side of two, where it goes down and then comes back up to the cart path where the three t-. Boxes. That's all short now. It used to be really thick but it's short now, which was awesome. From chipping out of today, I mean loved it. So I think everybody's in for a treat. It's going to be well, you know what? Here, let's bring Matty G in and Matty G can tell you what it is going to be like.

Speaker 3:

Good evening from the Fox 5 Firstler Weather Center. I'm Firstler meteorologist Matt Gontar for the Vegas Golf Network Got our next tournament coming up at the Las Vegas National, may 18th. A 6.30 shotgun start, looking partly cloudy with some scattered light rain showers throughout the morning and afternoon. It's not the best forecast, but very light rain, not expecting a washout, but it is going to be gusty with winds out of the southwest 20 to 30 miles per hour. Temperatures for a 630 shotgun start 65 degrees. Should be around 70 to 75 degrees as you wrap up the tournament on Sunday, may 18th.

Speaker 1:

Have a great round and have a great day, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I will say I'd love to hear that because, like brooks has said before, I mean I don't, I don't care about rain, sprinkles or wind, but that you're only playing against half of the field, because half the field does not like that shit and they're already in the mindset to not want to win because they don't want to deal with it yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 2:

I love it. I like playing in the wind yeah, not all the time.

Speaker 1:

Not all the time, dude. We've been playing in it for five months. Good God, yeah, it is a calm day with two to three mile an hour winds. I'm going to be giddy over. I don't even want to go. I couldn't putt last night in the backyard Because the balls were Because your greens do fast it's the balls where I'm like I'm barely touching it and it's going 30 feet. I'm like good Lord.

Speaker 2:

So that was a fun, and then you don't want to go hit balls because it's so damn windy and so yeah, that's when you try and like cut it into the wind and you like try and draw it with the wind. That's where you get creative out there. You know what I?

Speaker 1:

mean yeah, but I don't break out that with range balls. Yeah, break out your yoga mats this week because, uh, you need a little meditative state, if you will yes, you're gonna have to dig deep into the the how to maintain a level head and civility, because, uh, there's, I mean, that course will. It'll kick you in the nuts quick if you're not careful and that might come on monday too.

Speaker 2:

So you never know, but what might come on monday the rain and the wind, who knows, because it's always a guessing game where it's basically I mean, we're basically banned.

Speaker 1:

We're five days out, so it can. We could have a heat wave that shows up friday vegas is banned without the trees or the meatloaf I, I will give. I will give maddie g some credit, though his his forecasts have been kind of spot on. He was a little off at laugh Laughlin Ranch, but I mean that's not technically Vegas, so I'll give him a little bit of pass.

Speaker 2:

Best weatherman Vegas has ever seen, Matty G.

Speaker 1:

He's killing it. He's killing it. So let's see. So we have 72 players. Very happy to have that number. We got a last-minute addition. Rocky from the Golf F fathers is popping on uh oh yeah, we're battling, you're 100. Correct oh, you didn't know, I was not upset, I was fine no, I said correct 100, correct oh I thought talking about talking about Rob.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Rob's 100% correct.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I know I can take a night off. I'm fine with that. That doesn't mean I can't tinker. Garage Rob's watching.

Speaker 2:

Eagle Buff right now. Hey, quick, real shout out Eagle Buff on whatnot? He's doing a live show, custom stamping. Go follow Eagle Buff Hitting greens golf tribe. Bb and F codes. There was BB and F codes on there. Oh yeah, whatever.

Speaker 1:

Need some light there. Joe, Turn your phone camera.

Speaker 2:

I got light right here bro. Oh, here, but anyway he let us shout out the podcast, Uh co-host me.

Speaker 1:

There you go.

Speaker 2:

He co-hosted me. He said shout out the podcast hitting greens golf tribe. He throws BB and F codes on the divot tools. He co-hosted me. He said shout out the podcast hitting greens golf tribe. He throws bb and f co's on the divot tools. So shout out, eagle buff, go follow him on instagram, whatnot? Um, yeah, he co-hosted me. I jumped on and uh, shouted out chasing daylight podcast. So if anybody is listening to this because of eagle buff, thank you for being here and uh, we're here, every single tuesday at 8 30 pm, pacific standard time dude.

Speaker 1:

So, uh, dan, I know, yeah, you've bought a couple things on on whatnot, or you've been watching jeremy same thing no, you haven't bought anything yet, dan, I haven't bought anything yet. Oh wow, no, uh. But take five show last night was ridiculous. It was absolutely ridiculous. Some of the things he was selling just unbelievable. What was that?

Speaker 2:

inside joke, don't worry about it, go just okay sorry, sorry, sorry.

Speaker 1:

Inside jokes on the live podcast all right um, but yeah shout out greenly shout out greenly, go, follow, take five.

Speaker 1:

He's on instagram. Uh, he's got. His shows have been absolutely crazy lately, just some unreal stuff. He posted a video today that, uh, because the oven the old artisan warehouse, artisan facility is is not that far from his house, um, he knows the people there and he, joe, he had rory mcelroy's prototype of that. Yeah, he stamped rm on it with the mcelroy serial number. He had a bunch of raw pxgs. He had a bunch of, uh, paper irons. I mean just unreal.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, how he's getting this shit and what he's up to swag, putter covers, ripping them, and yeah, man, it's, it's, and it's like I've bought from him. You know, I bought, I bought some stuff from him, but it's so fun to watch because it's like you don't know what's coming next. Yeah, that's the thing, it's like fun to watch because it's like you don't know what's coming next. Yeah, that's the thing. It's like what's going to come next.

Speaker 1:

Rob and Joe and I were texting last night and Rob's like I don't really want to buy anything, but I can't stop watching and I said I go quitting interrupting me. I'm trying to watch. Yeah, it's so, it's, it's a good time. So, uh, if you got two and a half hours to kill sitting on your couch doing nothing while the knights are getting their asses handed to them, it's uh, it was, it was fun to watch. So, um, you got anything. What else you get that came in this week, joe, besides that, uh, I got the nike three iron.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, like I showed um, I got some cleveland hats, I got some balls um, I got some polos delivered um, because usps is the worst, right, so it's like it's terrible it takes so long. It's like I bought this 10 days ago and I don't know what's bundled together and it just shows up. But it's like kind of exciting because it's like what did I order?

Speaker 1:

What's coming in.

Speaker 2:

I did when I bought the uh, this is from Dallas golf co. They are on whatnot. Uh, people should be familiar with Dallas golf co. Um, they had a full box of these and I got one and I won the buyer's giveaway. I got a free uh, I won the range finder from them, so I got that and it's just like it's like christmas every once in a while. You know, we got like we got like five coming tomorrow too. I had one today. I bought a knife sick ass butcher knife, um, so I can chop my meat up. Uh, and it's a damascus. It's sweet, um, but yeah, it's very dangerous, so enter with caution. But uh, it's awesome and and you just gotta you just gotta find the good people there, and there's a lot of good people out there.

Speaker 2:

I want uh thrifty incredible polos and he said he he was messaging me like yesterday on instagram and he he wants to come on.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I think we just do a a whatnot show at some point yeah, rob was saying last night is is whatnot the new way to launder money?

Speaker 2:

yeah, I don't know, it could be the the, the money that's exchanging hands.

Speaker 1:

I mean, there was a guy last night that he probably dropped six grand at least.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, bunker yeah, bugger kings yeah follow bugger kings it's all over once you swipe right yeah, yeah, I don't, I don't swipe anymore, but um, and it's funny, five packages coming in from ups tomorrow no, that's all custom bidding. I only custom bid. I pick a price in my head. I'll put in my custom bid and if it, if it wins, it wins, if it doesn't, it doesn't. Um, it's funny how you can see the the items change hands. Oh yeah, this person sold it to this person.

Speaker 1:

And this person sold it to that person.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, it's fun, man. I mean there's a lot of good people out there on the app and shout out anybody hustling, you find your niche. I've always been that way. I've always trying to find something, something on the side, trying to do something and trying to find a way to do this and hustle, and you know it is what it is and you make friends and you know you build a community and it is a strong community. Whatnot golf is a strong community there's and you find those guys, and and shout out, cyrus.

Speaker 2:

Cyrus has been on there.

Speaker 1:

Now too, he's done two shows uh homie of the homies and uh yeah, I was selling some psycho bunny stuff, the other night.

Speaker 2:

I saw that. I saw that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's rad, it's fun.

Speaker 1:

Okay, uh, back to national.

Speaker 1:

Real quick, I'll give some some info on the numbers for the tournament. So we have, uh, 14 players in the diamonds division. Uh, it's going to be two 94 to first place, one 96 to second. We have 26 players I believe in. Uh, there we go. Just updated 26 players in spades, that's going to be $455, $320, and $135. We have 22 players in hearts, that's $385, $270, and $115. Then we have 10 people in the clubs, which is $210 and $140. It's a $2,500 purse out there.

Speaker 1:

Then we're doing our typical skins Gross skins for the gross players, gross skins for the net players, net skins for the net players and CTP, where each flight has their own hole. The diamonds, it is hole 14. Nice little 230-yard par 3 for you guys. The Spades is number 3. It was playing, I think, 178 today. Hearts is number 8. I think it was playing like 165. And then the clubs have number 11, which for us it was playing like 146 today, so it would probably be like 135 for them. And then we're doing something new Because National has five par threes. I wanted to do something with it.

Speaker 2:

And so Super Sabado Gigante.

Speaker 1:

Super CTP, so this is open to everybody. This is how we used to do the ctp jeremy's favorite hole jeremy's favorite in las vegas we used to have.

Speaker 1:

Everybody was in the ctps, but a lot of people were complaining that the clubs guys were playing, you know, 50, 60 yards shorter sometimes. So that's why we went to the way we're doing it now, which everybody seems to like. Um, but with an extra one. I said, hey, let's do this. Everybody throw in five bucks and you can play it from your t-box. And you know it's the hardest par three on the course. So it is the, the super ctp it's I didn't realize it was the number one or the number eight handicap on the course that, uh, that 16th hole, that's a it's a part four basically that front right bunker is brutal.

Speaker 1:

Uh, so that you know I we got 72 people in the field. If, if we get, you know, 60, it's a 300, 300 swing right there. So along with all the other ctps, that's, uh, you know, can can generate some cash. So there's a lot of money on the line out there for everybody this Sunday.

Speaker 2:

Hey, shout out Stems Golf. Tune in on Instagram If you're in the Vegas Golf Network. You released a card suit polo.

Speaker 1:

Isaiah, when is that coming out? I pre-ordered it, but I don't care when it comes out.

Speaker 2:

I'm curious when it's going to be here, let's go.

Speaker 1:

I want to wear that. I want to wear that. I know you're an attorney, but I don't know if I asked matt, I was like, did you order it?

Speaker 2:

I was like you don't have to tell me, but I know you did. But I was just curious if you ordered it, because I know you absolutely.

Speaker 1:

I mean, it's a no-brainer, no-brainer, uh, let's see what. What do we?

Speaker 2:

got Got PGA Championship this week.

Speaker 1:

I mean.

Speaker 2:

Quail Hollow.

Speaker 1:

They shipped to customers last week of May Summer drop. Ah, thank you sir. Thank you sir. So we'll have that for the major. That would be a good major shirt there you go.

Speaker 3:

All right.

Speaker 1:

PGA Championship Quail Hollow, jeremy's favorite course.

Speaker 5:

You know what? Actually, I need to rescind my comment because I watched Brian Bros and Grant do their major thing today. They posted it today. That place is sick. The problem with PGA Tour coverage is you see the same holes every year, over and over.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 5:

But watching their coverage you see all the holes, you see everything. On the sides of the greens, that place looks just like Augusta.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's what Chamblee was saying tonight. Augusta vibes yeah, and I was like haven't seen that. Yeah, I didn't know that either.

Speaker 2:

But if you watch that video, you'll see that place is actually amazing that shut out the green the, the greens crew on that, I mean.

Speaker 2:

I mean we've seen it with wells fargo right as well as fargo right yeah, and I mean obviously they're going to do things differently because it's a major. But um, I I mean I I was watching uh live from you know, the pga championship and I'm not super hyped on it and for me also like philly cricket club this past weekend we don't get to see that very often. Uh, I wasn't as high like it looks sick, right, but it the coverage did not do that place justice. I think they could have done so much better on that too, and hopefully the pga championship lets quail shine where did you send that message at?

Speaker 1:

where was that at this point?

Speaker 5:

was that in the somewhere, I think adam said something and then I replied, or I can't remember.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I tried. That quote was hilarious. I'm trying to remember who said that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think Adam sent it.

Speaker 1:

Oh, there it is. I guess I would say Quell Hollow is like a Kardashian it's very modern, beautiful and well-kept, but it lacks a soul or character. No, soul.

Speaker 5:

No soul golf there, I don't know I don't know. I mean he would know. I mean I've never been there, so I've never played I've never been there either I don't, I would, I would. I don't know, I would love to play it 100, absolutely 100.

Speaker 2:

Love to play it.

Speaker 1:

I mean because it gets so much play. You have the Rory win there You've got. The JT win there You've got. Was it Kepka? Did Kepka win there? Was that.

Speaker 2:

I don't think so. I don't think Kepka won there.

Speaker 1:

Who else won there? I think, what diminishes.

Speaker 2:

Xander's won there I think what diminishes the majors is that we have seen it on tour every year, right, like we don't want to see the courses that they played on Wells Fargo year after year after year as a major. We don't want to see that, at least for me, like't want to see that, at least for me, like I want to see something different and I think if it's a, it's a. If it's a tour stop, it should not be a major, it should not host a major.

Speaker 2:

Now, that's fine, right, like I mean, pebble is awesome, right, but I'm saying you're saying no to pebble I am but, I don't want to see at&t pro-am at pebble and then two months later see us open at pebble. That's boring. I mean, am I wrong there?

Speaker 1:

I don't know, I think I like four days at pebble and Open conditions. I don't think that's boring at all.

Speaker 5:

I would rather not play Pebble every year and just do it for.

Speaker 1:

US.

Speaker 5:

Opens and not do a tour event there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah that I can get by, but I'm not going to get mad that they do it.

Speaker 2:

No, I think Pebble in US Open conditions is very different than AT&T Pro-Am Tori. They play the North and the South.

Speaker 1:

I like four days at the South in US open conditions. It's fucking hard and brutal and it's fun to watch, especially since we played it.

Speaker 2:

I think they should flip it because they don't get too much TV time on the North and just like the final rounds on the North. I just that's what I think. I think no, I know it's not, it shouldn't be that way, but I think it's like people get tired of seeing the same thing over and over.

Speaker 1:

I don't dan, you're being quiet. What do you think?

Speaker 4:

yeah, go for it dan I, I kind of agree a little bit with joe as far as um not wanting to see the tour stop along with the major um, because, like you said, with pebble, you I'd much rather see four rounds of pebble at a us open setting than a stupid pro-am. They could put the move, the pro-am, to like sawgrass or something, or a spyglass or something like that, or or go up to pasta or something. Yeah, exactly yeah. But yeah, I, I think I've always been a fan of getting away from these same rotas. I mean, I know, I know it's hard, but like you know, we've seen the U S open at at at Oakmont what? Seven times, eight times in the last 30 years, probably six times, whatever it is. You know they do the same thing at pebble, they do the same thing at uh, at um, like shinnecock and stuff like that.

Speaker 4:

Like I want to see some of the courses. I want to see like a major at pine valley, I want to see a major at like uh at like maidstone or something like that. You know, like I don't know if these are major, worthy golf courses, but these are some of the best golf courses in the world and in our country and they need to be showcased and, uh, if there's a way that you know they can make that happen, I would be more stoked to see you know courses like that like I haven't seen. You know, I would love to see like a pga championship, like pikewood national or something like that, but I'll never. We'll never see that and I'll probably never see that course, you know so I just, you know, I know it's not, it's easier said than done.

Speaker 4:

I know there's a lot of politics in play and then you know also, you know fans, because that, ultimately, that's that's what they decide on is how much money they can generate off the fans. But yeah, I just wish they would mix it up somehow.

Speaker 2:

See, but the difference is between Pebble and Oakmont. Is we only see Oakmont for majors? I mean yeah, yeah, it's a major venue.

Speaker 4:

And that's fine, but also too like there's a good chance that oakmont will be host another us open. I'm not sure what the rotation is but oakmont hosts another us open, like seven years when there could be some any other courses that can host the us open but yes joe, you're correct. I I think the repetition of of tour stops being a major is more yeah yeah, it's less exciting.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, rob had a comment here. He says the pga championship is just blah relative to the other three majors. And what's what's surprising about his statement with that is it typically has the best field because it's not limited like augusta. Um, it doesn't have the us open where anybody can qualify. Uh, you know, it's it's PGA professionals and the top players in the world and it's it's a, you know, pretty stacked field because you know there are some live guys that can't get into Augusta. There's some live guys that can't get in the US Open, um, but they're getting into this one. Uh, the fields are always stacked. They play decent courses, it's. I mean, I don't know, I I enjoy watching it. I love it, I love all majors.

Speaker 2:

I love all majors. I just think that they are missing an identity. You know, they don't have an identity what the pga championship? Yeah, I think it does.

Speaker 1:

It just doesn't pertain to you because the pga of america is massive, I mean okay, explain to me the four identities of the majors dan, you can. You can attest to the, to your friends that have played in this, how big of a deal it is for them absolutely yes I do agree with massive and it's the layout the layout does not have an identity I was gonna say I think it could.

Speaker 4:

I could be having a lot to do with course setup, because it always seems like of all the four majors, they go the lowest in the pga championship and the course never really sets up super, super difficult, like if they were to set up. You know, pga championship like in us open conditions, with six inch rough and 14, 15 greens on the, you know, on the stint meter might be a little bit more exciting. You know it might see a little bit more struggle, but it seems like more often than not, you know, like 16, eight, 18, under 20 unders winning the PGA championship. And just think a lot of times when you want, when you want to see a major, you want to see a major.

Speaker 2:

You want to see like the, the toughest tests, like off that you know you don't want to see 20 under, because you see that every week I would. I would love to see it go back to match play. Okay, let me.

Speaker 1:

Let me just say this that would give it an identity so masters requires precision and all-around game.

Speaker 2:

Uh, you know, full commitment, precision, US Open grit. You have to battle, battle, battle, battle, Open. You have to deal with the elements, the terrain and the movement of. Okay. So the PGA Championship, lets PGA professionals play what?

Speaker 1:

Oh, come on, that is a horrible take?

Speaker 2:

no, what is it? I'm just saying. I'm saying the course augusta requires precision at every aspect shaping shots, us open, grit, 100 grit, right open, dealing with wind terrain, playing the ball on the ground low. What is pga championship as far as a course? And you could say it's a hot take, all you want. I'm just curious what does the layout, where does that layout fit? And I I love the pga championship. I'm just curious what you guys think it what I don't?

Speaker 1:

I don't understand what you're asking. Where does it?

Speaker 5:

fit in the aspect of your game but I think the problem with the pga is they don't have a rotation like the us open has. So these courses like pebble and oakmont, beth and all these, those are sort of the identity of the US Open because we know those are extremely difficult courses and the hardest conditions they can make them. The PGA doesn't have that rotation. It seems like the PGA is the one major that would have the opportunity to do the new courses.

Speaker 4:

I feel like.

Speaker 3:

And they don't.

Speaker 5:

I mean, they do in a way, but I don't know I feel like, pga sort of like us open junior it's like the younger child of the us open and it's less exactly crazy well, it's, it's, it's I believe it's a.

Speaker 1:

it's a marketing event for the PGA of America. You're going to see a ton of PGA of America ads. You're going to hear all these stories about the PGA professionals and they're going to have their moment to shine and it's really pushing the PGA of America, the up-and-coming teachers, the up-and-coming professionals, and that is what they're doing. It just so happens to be a major that's been around for a long time and it just doesn't have the draw of a major compared to Augusta, which is incredible, the US Open, which is by far one of the best tournaments in the history of the world, and then you've got the Open Championship. Which iconic venues, history of golf. You know it's not an apples to apples comparison, but for what they do, what?

Speaker 2:

they do for the PGA in America. It has an identity.

Speaker 2:

PGA provides an opportunity for the top players to complete the Grand Slam or win their first major stepping stone major. I get that. I would agree with that, I 100% agree with that right. But for me, all I'm saying I love the PGA Championship, I get all that. I'm just saying what part of your game needs to win that and cause all the other ones take out a piece of your game to win a major. That's all I'm saying. There's no like. Like Jeremy said, it's the U S open junior right. U S open requires grit.

Speaker 1:

So does it. Well, they don't set the course of that difficult.

Speaker 5:

No, they don't require, they don't have no issue it depends on the course because in my view, the pga championship, besides augusta, the pga championship is like more pristine courses. I feel like the courses that they play. It's more pristine. It's not like seen rough around bunkers and greens like the us open and it just looks rough because they've dried it out. It doesn't feel like that to me. It feels like it's more of a pristine environment. Especially, I think quail hollow is going to surprise some people. I think it's going to be different than the wells fargo, what they're used to, based on what I saw.

Speaker 1:

Previous PGA Championship locations Oak Hill Country Club, Southern Hills Country Club, Kiowa Island, TPC, Harding Park, which was fucking incredible.

Speaker 2:

I was sick because we don't see it every year.

Speaker 1:

I don't know if you know anything about this place. It's just a goat track in New.

Speaker 3:

York Pasatiempo.

Speaker 1:

Pasatiempo, it's just a goat track in New York. Positampo, positampo, best Page, black Belle, reve, quail, hollow, baltrasol, I mean come on.

Speaker 2:

Baltasrol. Pronounce it correctly, please. Oh, whatever, baltasrol.

Speaker 4:

Be respectful goddammit Respect.

Speaker 2:

Tuck your shirt in, tuck your shirt in. So, joe, let me ask you this, Joe.

Speaker 4:

Let me ask you this, Joe Do you enjoy watching the players more than you?

Speaker 2:

enjoy watching the PGA Championship.

Speaker 4:

Yes, does it have anything to do with the? Fact that the PGA Championship is at Quail Hollow, a tour stop. Do you think if the PGA Championship was at, say, like Aaron Hills, where it's not a tour stop but I think aaron hills, yeah, aaron hills, we don't see. You know, a lot of it is because you see quail hollow a lot well and aaron hills there, it's, it's.

Speaker 2:

You can't even see my hand, like some of the rough is ridiculous, I think it's. You know. They said stepping stone, or STEM said stepping stone major, and I was trying to look at golfers that have only won the PGA Championship and I think Justin Thomas won at Coil Hollow right, he won at Southern Hills. He has no other major, nope, so can he win another major or is he only know?

Speaker 5:

he can, that's why?

Speaker 1:

that's why the grand slam is the only one jordan hasn't won. That's the thing about the other ones.

Speaker 2:

So because the grand slam is that hard to get? Because it tests four aspects of your game. That's all I'm saying. Right, precision, grit elements. What is the PGA Championship.

Speaker 1:

And why?

Speaker 3:

Why is it all?

Speaker 1:

in the league.

Speaker 2:

Kendall said I think it's a great combo of length, precision but it's different based on the course, but it takes all to win.

Speaker 1:

So it's the all-encompassing major, if you will's.

Speaker 5:

I feel like that's kind of what it is they're dealing with. Weather it does depend on the course, but I feel like the way that they set the course up could be us open-ish, the, the quality of the course could be augusta -ish. I mean, I don't know where the open comes in, maybe weather, but I just feel like whoever play it's, it's more of a well-rounded tournament it's not like an extreme.

Speaker 5:

One way or another, it's just who plays the best, who can do all the things the best pga championship is my obviously my least uh on the well I mean, but look what you're comparing.

Speaker 1:

You love. You're comparing it to the I do love. You're comparing it to the Masters, the US Open and the Open Championship.

Speaker 2:

I mean I just don't think there's a true identity to it. I just don't think there's a true identity to it. And the others have a true identity.

Speaker 1:

I think people in the golf space that work Dude. I'll support Mike Block and all of them.

Speaker 2:

I love it, yes, I love that aspect, but you can win an amateur and get into any. You know all of them, you know. So it's like I just want an identity and I don't want to see a course that is played on tour played for a major Play, something.

Speaker 1:

Let's kick out Torrey Pines and Pebble Beach, then Play something. Let's kick out Torrey.

Speaker 2:

Pines and Pebble Beach, then I agree.

Speaker 1:

And Quail.

Speaker 2:

Hollow and Quail Hollow.

Speaker 1:

We see it.

Speaker 2:

We see it all the time.

Speaker 1:

PGA is the Teemu major there we go.

Speaker 2:

Cliff knows Shout out. Cliff Play Landman.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, play it right. Uh, that would be fun. Oh, it comes down to putting kendall says yeah, that's true, um, it's. I mean there's some great classic pga championship moments out there. They were replaying the tiger woods, bob may stuff today. I mean there's some really I would love to see them just give it a five-year run as playing it at a match play event and just see what happens.

Speaker 2:

Go back how it was in the 40s and 50s and I mean, could you imagine that being the identity of the pga championship? It's match. Play like that could be their identity. It still requires all aspects of your game, but that's their identity. You gotta beat the man. You're playing. I mean, that's an identity. That's all I'm saying. There's not an identity, it's you so you're saying there's no identity?

Speaker 1:

yes I haven't. I wasn't sure. Yeah, no, no identity. Yes, I wasn't sure. Yeah, no, no identity. All right, so I don't know if Rocky's still in the chat, but, rocky, if you're still here, let's talk a little bit about this little. I'll bring this up so everybody can see it. Let's talk a little bit about this little guy right here that is creating all kinds of ruckus and controversy and chaos amongst all the people in the world because, uh, well, it just happens to look a lot like a lab putter, it has a very similar shape, there's no hole in it and it I mean, wow, everybody is talking about this, which it's the wannabe lab. Here they. Here come the lab boys. Uh, ag, go get, go get steven, so you guys can come on and and tear it apart. But uh, there there's also somebody that that is a big fan of Lab. That I'm pretty sure. In my post he said I will die on the Lab Hill that now has his name etched in the bottom of his putter.

Speaker 1:

So we'll see if Rocky brings this to the tournament Sunday, if Rocky brings this to the tournament Sunday. So I will say this as a person who works for Odyssey's parent company Calloway was not a fan of the idea. Not a fan. I didn't think they needed to do it, but nobody gives a shit what I think. Um, pxg blackbird so that? So lab copied the pxg blackbird. Is that what you're saying? Uh, but I, I get it. Uh, you know lab is has been a disruptor. We talked about this when sam was on the show. By the way, if you haven't listened to that, go back. Oh, and hey, if you're on instagram right now, share the show. Let everybody know that we're talking about this right now. Uh, you get the little little button down the bottom screen. Hit that share button. Let's see if we can get some more people in here chatting about this, because it's a, it's a hot topic right now. The sham wow 2.0.

Speaker 1:

Uh, so I mean ronco, ronco, what I have what I have learned in my small time in working with callaway is that the tour drives everything. Uh, not a lot of people like the the gloss driver, but that's what the tour guys like triple diamond gloss head, that's what it. It is the Callaway staffers, the people that play the equipment. They wanted a super high MOI head and so that's what they got Super high MOI head. You know it doesn't have the ball retriever in it, it's got a nice little alignment line. It does have the forward lean. You know, can't do anything about with the grip because lab does have the patent on that. But uh, so we got this as our demo. And uh, so I gotta say I'm gonna go outside and roll it. And uh, of the four square to square variants, you have the, the blade putter, you've gotare variants. You have the blade putter, you've got the number seven, you've got the jailbird and then now this one. If someone said you have to play this, I would putt wobbly with this one because it lines up.

Speaker 1:

No, I'm not going to play it, don't worry, you won't have to worry about that. I'm just talking of the four, because the other, the other three, square to squares. Not a fan of even, and I, I play a jailbird. Not a fan of the jailbird. Square to square. Don't like. The seven, don't like, uh, the blade. The blade, I think, is wildly weird. Um, but this surprised me. It surprised me because it it sets up really nice, it puts a nice smooth, balanced stroke on it, and this is not zero torque, this is not zero torque, it is toe up. You can see here, if you balance it, it goes toe up.

Speaker 2:

I'm terrible at this. That's an interesting take by the world famous Chris Torres.

Speaker 1:

Scotty did this to pink. Well, everybody's done it to everybody, and that's that's what everybody's been talking about the, the, the lab fanboys oh, it's a copy, it's a copy, it's a copy you know, you know it's. Nobody has copied somebody grossly in a while. That got a lot of press. Lab is hot right now. So yes, calloway's design, or odyssey's design incredibly similar to the lab you could say they're capturing market share.

Speaker 2:

Did you see that video where they are the third best-selling? Like putter brand, it's like Odyssey, scotty Lab, ping and like they've taken out. Ping.

Speaker 1:

And they have disrupted the industry.

Speaker 2:

It's all market share.

Speaker 1:

Yeah and so. But you know, taylormade the Rossi that they came out with that was an Odyssey design. The answer was a Ping design. Scotty copied that. Scotty's got a jailbird version right now. You know that they all do it, but it's like nobody lost their shit when Scotty Cameron comes out with a jailbird. But you know, odyssey does this because lab is popular. They have a very dedicated, very, you know, uh was we're passionate fan base. It's getting a lot of shit. That's a timu lab putter. Oh no, the timu lab putter is way cheaper than this hey, shout out sam from lab golf.

Speaker 2:

What a, what a gentleman. I mean, it's like people are gonna come for you and he, he's handling it well. I mean, you know, people are gonna copy great things, I mean.

Speaker 1:

I say I don't like the the square to square jailbird. I love my slant neck jailbird, absolutely love it. But the the square to square with the center shaft and the forward shaft lane not for me. Not for me as this one, not for me. Uh, but it's. It rolls the ball surprisingly well. I didn't like it the first couple hits, but then, after I kept fighting with for a little while, it rolls the ball really good. There's something to the face, and I was chatting with rocky about it too and he's like you know it. I won't. I'll let rocky say what he thinks about it. Um, but uh, he was surprised as well. So, uh, don't knock it till you try it.

Speaker 1:

Don't worry, lab, they're they not going to fucking take all your money and end you? But there's no lawsuit coming with this either. That's one thing that Take Five was saying Buy these now, because they're going to be coming off the shelves. You won't be able to get them. No, there's no lawsuit coming. Oh, you're going to love this, lantanek. It's so good, it's so good, it's so good. Oh, look at Mr Bobber in the house. Yeah, so just if you're curious, go roll it and see what you think. I'm not going to tell you it's the best putter in the world. I'm not going to tell you. But I will tell you this it won't take you 68 weeks to get it. You'll be able to go to the store and pick it up and leave with it.

Speaker 2:

Oh, barbara changed his name again. What the what's going on here?

Speaker 1:

it's all marketing to spend more money. Give facts and any putter and he'll roll a great. Give me any putter and I fight not to three putter.

Speaker 2:

Hey, a true a true golfer is a ninja, you know. True, we adapt to the surroundings. It's not the tool, it's the golfer. Get hit and hit it into the trees. You're gonna have to whip one around, cut one below some branches, or avoid a root.

Speaker 1:

We'll do this, if you guys all agree to it, to level the playing field, because Jeremy and Dan, you guys are playing different boxes and Joe and I we'll do it net. Whoever has the highest net score on Sunday. The next time we play, they have to play with us. We're going to have to start a YouTube vlog. And I want to see this head cover in Joe's bag. Where's that happening? It's not that bad, it'll just be raw. Then I just won't even rock a head cover.

Speaker 2:

It'll just be raw then I just won't even rock a head cover.

Speaker 1:

It's not that big, I mean in comparison to a swag cover it's almost smaller, I'll just raw dog it. You got to look at it this way, though, right From the top of the bag perspective.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, you have to have it hang over a ledge too.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 5:

Just put a driver head cover over it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, still really like the Jailbird. Yeah, jailbird's a great putter. Let's see what's that say. So the new Prototype putter is punishment. No, well, maybe it would be punishment for joe, I think. I think honestly, I think jeremy would roll it very well. Dan would vomit every time he touched it.

Speaker 5:

I will not be using that putter oh, oh, oh.

Speaker 1:

Look at he's saying he's getting the win.

Speaker 5:

That's what he's saying I mean I'll quit golf before I use that putter there you go Slow clap. I would love to see a comparison between the Lab and the other putter.

Speaker 1:

They're pretty much the same shape other butter, other they're pretty much same shape.

Speaker 5:

Same shape they have there's, there's a couple weights in the performance wise here and here.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, that odyssey's still doing this on the way back. Yeah, yeah, it might be the same shape, but it's still, it's still.

Speaker 2:

You need to capitalize on your viral fame and just putt with that and be like dude. This putter is sick.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'll do it like this. I go this is what lab wants you to think your putter is doing, but if you use this, it does this.

Speaker 5:

If you use Callaway, it does this.

Speaker 1:

If you use Callaway it's the Odyssey it goes right in the hole what's up with?

Speaker 2:

the paradox? Is that coming or like I'm really I?

Speaker 1:

was talking with greenlee about it, they're they are out of stock right now. So uh, just waiting, waiting for them.

Speaker 2:

Apparently they made enough to sell out really quickly and uh, so yeah, in time I mean we'll have it I understand their concept, but the, the mass of the putter, like how it's like shorter on this side and it's on the side I'm real curious, like to see what happens with that was there one model or did they have multiple models?

Speaker 1:

they have a plane to blade them outet too.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah it would be curious, like I'm curious, to see what happens with that. Like dude lab is taken off. Like you know it's, it's, it's uh, golden knights in 2018 status right now.

Speaker 1:

You know it's super popular fanboy popular status, so curious curious in other, in other putter news, these came in here. I'll do it like what not, does it? Yeah? Yeah, put it up here so you can see it. So this is the the goodwood max torque. Uh, putter, this is mine. Uh, I got it in raw, uh, deep face, milling on the front single sight line and, uh, man, it was also good you guys were out at national with yours, joe.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I've posted, we've shared the photos on on our ig page. So if you're not following, if you're watching on instagram, hopefully you're following us. If you're not, if you're watching on youtube, go to our instagram page. Uh, check it out. I've been posting pictures there of of our putters. Joe got the same finish but a long neck with some custom stamping, dan got a mallet and jeremy got a blade with a little slant neck on it with the acid wash finish. Much props to Dave. We're going to have him on the show. I wanted to get the putters. I wanted us to putt with them first before we had them on the show, so we could at least talk about our putters and how they came out. But we'll go around the horn. Dan, tell us a little bit about yours and what you've seen with it so far.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I went with the mid mallet carbon steel. It's a little bit of a heavier hit at 370, and shout out to Eric Greenlee for hooking it up. Hooking up that BGT, that thing is sweet. Matt got it shafted for me. That thing feels great to me. It's actually already in the bag. I've only played two rounds with it and I've already committed to it. The G6 Carbon that I have is in the closet, but I think it just lines up great, the way it sits the plumber's neck, the way the back flange kind of frames the ball and I just visually, for me it sets up great and um, yeah, I'm committed to it now. I love it and I'm excited for it joe, let's, let's hear yours it's so heavy, it's very heavy, very very

Speaker 1:

very, very heavy I tell the guys I go he's gonna have so many complaints about this. I just know he's gonna have so many complaints. He's not gonna like the length, he's not gonna like the weight.

Speaker 2:

It's so heavy, it's just like the head is so heavy. But I play a very, very light putter. I mean I have the BGT tour in the Wars Golf Co if you want to call it that or Strokes Game Putter, and it's just very, very heavy and it's going to take some manipulation. I did Eric, I got to get it swing weighted. I'm probably going to go see Julian and just have him swing weight it for me and then I'll send the head out to Eric just to try and get it swing weighted. You know I don't care that. It's like. You know I'm strong, right, so I can lift things, but it just, it just feels so. It just feels so heavy and the swing weight is so off. And yeah, I just got to figure that out.

Speaker 2:

I love it, though. Like the craftsmanship, the long neck I've wanted one for a long time. The stamping is remarkable. I mean I love it, I want to play it, but I just have to like dial in the shaft, but when I do it might be game over. Look out so many, so it might be game over.

Speaker 1:

Look out so many, so it might be game over. Look out so many. So many complaints, many complaints, many complaints.

Speaker 2:

No, it's just.

Speaker 1:

It just the swing no, it's just, it, just the swing no, it's just it just the swing weight.

Speaker 2:

My last one. I asked you what the swing weight is. You didn't know. I thought you wrote all of our stuff down in a notebook.

Speaker 1:

That's for irons. Putters are so different.

Speaker 2:

It's all about feel. Irons feel away, putters feel away. We put Jeremy's on the swing weight scale and I went oh my god. Uh, I mean, that's the big thing is, is it? Do we? Does he leave scotty?

Speaker 5:

I doubt it, like that's the big question here all right, jeremy, let's hear it big screen the putter's in the closet currently next to the strokes game, putter right next to it in fact it keeps sticking to the strokes game head cover because the magnet no, the verdict's still out. I mean, I do love the looks of it, it's so currently an heirloom it's an heirloom for zane.

Speaker 5:

I should have had zane's name stamped on it. Um yeah, scotty's in the bag right now and my stroke is absolute trash, so I've actually got the long neck in the bag. Trying to, I'm I will never get a mallet. The long neck is the closest. Trying to I will never get a mallet. The long neck is the closest thing to a mallet I will ever get. So it could make an appearance. But I need, like Joe, it's just a totally different feel Like. It is just not comfortable to use and I think it's a combination of the carbon head. I'm not used to that. Yeah, think it's a combination of the carbon head.

Speaker 5:

I'm not used to that yeah well, the shaft is not the shaft grip is not the right setup yet, but I think we can dial it because I really do like it.

Speaker 2:

I do like the looks, it's just it's gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna be passed down from generation to generation.

Speaker 1:

It might be pristine. I could have beforehand. I should have wrote on a piece of paper and sealed it and put in there. Matt will game his He'll love it. Dan will game his He'll love it. Joe will have 75 complaints about why it doesn't feel right, I know I have one. Jeremy will immediately go to the closet.

Speaker 2:

One complaint. One complaint One complaint. It just feels heavy. That's it. My strokes gain is very light, very, very light. It's super duper light.

Speaker 4:

Did you roll Jeremy's putter? Jeremy's putter weighed in at an E2.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I love that slant naked on jeremy's putter.

Speaker 1:

I think it looks so good dude when we were rolling it in the backyard. I couldn't believe how amazing it felt with that smooth face blew me away. It was not expecting that at all same.

Speaker 2:

It felt like soft on a smooth face. It's crazy, yeah, but to get jeremy out of a scotty is that's like if you can do that, you're a legend legendary.

Speaker 5:

The thing is with scotty, for me is gss I played them for so long that I know what it's going to feel like. It doesn't matter which blade I use. They all feel the same and I know what it's going to do. I distance control all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2:

There's just different variables like the shaft or the grip and those are two things I definitely need to to dial in on the goodwood, but so yeah, I'm curious, because all scotty's stuff is gss right, german stainless steel right not all of it, well, all of jeremy's oh yeah all mine are stainless steel.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I don't have a. I don't have any more carbon. It's a different way different.

Speaker 2:

Feel right? No, yeah, because they're just in your closet.

Speaker 5:

You probably sorry several, but the thing is like I could switch to any of them and they would. It would feel like home. But switching to a putter that has no milling, that's carbon, that's heavy, it's just like a totally different thing and that's what I struggled with at national. With that putter was like my stroke actually feels worse now than it did before I started using it. But I think you know you just have to get used to it. Any practice and whatever, interesting.

Speaker 2:

Well, you got an heirloom now, so another one, just put a, just stamp a scotty camera on it and, uh, pass it down. 009 here's.

Speaker 1:

Here's joe's. Sorry, this is taking me too long to get those. There's the long neck I love it.

Speaker 2:

I love it.

Speaker 1:

I've wanted ones for so long and then let me bring up dan's. This is the one I'm most jealous about. And then let me bring up Dan's.

Speaker 4:

This is the one I'm most jealous about.

Speaker 5:

Hello you little beauty, very nice butter.

Speaker 1:

Yes, Julian's like uh, if he can do that in lefty, uh done, yeah I love my part.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so I love my putter.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so really, really happy with these. Thanks so much, Dave. When I posted my picture.

Speaker 2:

Thrifty Golf DMV was like he's right by me, can you tell him to send me some putters?

Speaker 5:

I was like we'll have them on. I'm sure we'll talk whatnot Absolute excellent craftsmanship even if it's on my, definitely.

Speaker 2:

If it sits on my shelf or anything like, I will cherish that thing forever. Incredible work, I love I love it.

Speaker 1:

I posted a video today on 18. I had a birdie putt with this and uh, dave sends me a message like, yeah, you need to go get that flattened a little bit. I see that's just a little bit too upright for my stroke right now, so I putted well with it today. Just, I mean you can ask Julian, I mean every we had so many lips. I mean the pins were like sharp cut and nothing fell in the hole. You had to be almost dead center cut to get him to drill. Was that like for you guys on Saturday or no?

Speaker 2:

Do you?

Speaker 1:

remember Not as much we had so many lip outs today I mean so many.

Speaker 4:

I think that's true.

Speaker 1:

So hopefully I'll get that bent tomorrow. I found out. So we fit his name's Dr Freeman. He owns a physio facility here in town and we fit him at TBC on Saturday and I said, hey, can you do me a favor? I said I know you fixed Julian his wrist. I said, but can you take a look at this knot I got in my shoulder? I just I can't get rid of it. It's been bugging me for like two weeks. He goes, yeah, sure.

Speaker 1:

So he does a couple of things. He's like oh yeah, you got a rib out of place. I said what? And he said, yeah, he goes. That's my number one, number one injury in tennis players and rib in the back. He goes, it's just out of place and it's pushing on the muscle. He goes. Unfortunately I can't give you an exercise to do it, but you come see me, I'll pop it back in place and, uh, get you, get you going good. And I'm like, okay. I said I haven't been. I've been sleeping like shit for two weeks. I can't get comfortable. If I go play, then I'm like just on the couch for you know, a couple hours just trying to get it to feel comfortable. So doing that tomorrow because, with the tournament coming up, I want to get it done, so looking forward to a good night's sleep tomorrow night, hopefully. Don't get old, don't get old, you just pop ribs out doing dishes.

Speaker 1:

I've never even heard of that a rib out oh yeah, he's like yeah, it's just out of place and you know it's. It's irritating the muscle around it, it's inflamed and that's why it feels like a nod. It's not a nod, it's just irritation. And he goes well, we'll get it all taken care of. All right, we'll see what happens. So dad issues. Man. Don't get old man telling you if you can do anything to stop getting old, do it now.

Speaker 1:

I said yeah, that'll never happen, and I went you know what, I kind of want it to happen now and see if I could land somebody from the company and have some conversations about that stuff. Speaker 2:

Oh, I can't wait to get my tool from the clubber himself. I'm going to go Shane Lowry. Oh, that's a good pick, thank you, I appreciate you.

Speaker 1:

That was a terrible picture. I'm sorry, Dan, who you got? I was going to pick Shane.

Speaker 4:

Lowry, to be honest with you Wow.

Speaker 3:

I was going to pick.

Speaker 4:

Shane Lowry, because yeah, that guy has like 10 or 12 straight top 10 or 15 finishes or something. He's playing hot. But I'll go with the obvious pick, fuck it, I'll take.

Speaker 2:

Rory yeah, that's not, I mean super, just chalk.

Speaker 4:

I'll take Rory. I can have a secondary pick. Don't take mine, don't do it, I'm not, I'm going to go with more of a long shot here.

Speaker 2:

JT no not JT.

Speaker 4:

I'm going to go. If I have a long shot, I'm going to go. I don't even know. If I have a long shot, I'm gonna go. I don't even know.

Speaker 2:

Michael Block.

Speaker 4:

Mike Block no, no, no, yeah, I'm a blocky. Corey, connors, corey. Connors would be my longer shot, jeremy, do you have?

Speaker 1:

somebody in mind besides Jordan or you? You definitely think the Grand Slam is taking place.

Speaker 2:

It's happening right.

Speaker 4:

It's the year of the Grand Slam. I really really hope so.

Speaker 1:

Two Grand Slams in one year. How sick would that be?

Speaker 5:

That would be awesome.

Speaker 1:

I don't know if that's ever happened before. I mean, there's only what five people that have it right. So yeah, I don't think it's happened before. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I would say it happened Saheeth DeGala.

Speaker 5:

Love Saheeth. Good pick. It's the entry-level major right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 2:

Enter to the major here.

Speaker 1:

So this will surprise probably a lot of people. I'm going with Bryson. I like Bryson too. I can seeryson winning this thing by six seven strokes.

Speaker 2:

So hey, shut up harry hall, he's in the field yeah, harry's in the field, harry let's go, harry dark horse right there.

Speaker 1:

That would be awesome. He's been playing well. He's been getting top 20s all over the place, so you know he's he's uh earning these spots and and uh would love to see him get in that uh, you know top 25 end of the year status and and uh, you know he's doing good things. He was uh number one in putts made distance wise, and I think he was two in strokes game putting and he had an Odyssey in the back, just no.

Speaker 2:

Hey, did you know Bryson has a clubs tool in his pocket? Did you know that. Yes, might give him power to win Magic wand.

Speaker 1:

Just think he's going to light that place up, so he can, for sure. So those are our picks. Uh, have fun this week, everybody. Uh, we'll be back next week. We'll be talking about the vgn, uh tournaments and we'll see who's gonna be playing this thing their next round. Uh, we got uh the pga championship.
