CHASING DAYLIGHT

Send us a text

Oakmont Country Club takes center stage as the guys dive into what promises to be a brutal US Open. The fairways are narrow, the rough is overgrown, and the greens are lightning fast – exactly how golf's ultimate test should be. Stories from pros' practice rounds reveal a course that will thoroughly punish anything less than precision golf.

The conversation shifts to an unexpected controversy when their golf course rankings sparked outrage among followers. Wolf Creek Golf Club's placement at #24 in the Vegas region ignited fierce debate, with many arguing it deserves top-10 national status. The hosts stand firm on their assessment, explaining that while the course offers spectacular visuals, its playability issues and marathon pace of play justified its ranking. This segment highlights how subjective course ratings can be, often influenced by what golfers are accustomed to playing.

Joe shares his recent Scottsdale golf adventure, where he discovered TPC Stadium Course offered more enjoyment than he anticipated. Meanwhile, Matt provides insider perspective on why Wynn Golf Club charges $800 per round – it's intentionally priced to maintain exclusivity and cater to high-end casino patrons who view golf as merely an amenity. This discussion reveals the fascinating economics behind Vegas golf's premium experiences.

The episode wraps with US Open predictions, featuring picks ranging from favorites like Scottie Scheffler to dark horses like Patrick Cantlay and Ludvig Åberg. Along the way, the guys announce plans for future equipment giveaways once they reach specific social media follower milestones – giving loyal listeners chances to win putters, drivers, and other gear. Subscribe to their channels and join the conversation about golf's biggest topics, all delivered with the authentic, unfiltered perspective that makes Chasing Daylight unique.

Speaker 1:

what is up everybody? Welcome to another episode of the Chasing Daylight Podcast. Clearly there's some shit going on with Instagram. It's not liking us, so I apologize for those wanting to watch Instagram tonight Again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I don't know what's going on, but Joe's here tonight so he can fill in while I tinker once we get to that. But I do want to say a quick thank you to Shannon from 13 Brewing. Last week he left a message and Joe wasn't here to help me fill dead air because I was trying to figure out Instagram and I forgot to get his message.

Speaker 1:

And then I also found out I didn't have repeat the live chat on the replays, so I couldn't get his message again. So, shannon, if by any chance you're watching, please, you know, hop on and let us know what that question was because, uh, I I didn't want you to think that we forgot about you, so how are you guys doing tonight? Good everybody all geeked up for a brutal US Open that's forthcoming.

Speaker 2:

Can't wait so stoked.

Speaker 1:

So Jeremy said before we hopped on that he was watching the Grand Horvart.

Speaker 2:

Horvart.

Speaker 3:

Horvart.

Speaker 1:

Horvart. I like Horfart better. I was watching that video of them out there and said that you know they're just getting destroyed.

Speaker 3:

No, they got battered yeah.

Speaker 1:

Oh my God. And this afternoon I watched Bryson. Yeah, mike's got it right right here Beautiful golf course. Instagram sucks, yes. So watched Bryson's video where he recorded every swing and, yeah, the course was wet and soft that day, so you know a lot of his shots into the green from the rough stayed on the green and, yeah, I don't think it's going to be that easy. Come, come, uh, a couple days from now.

Speaker 2:

So are you? Are you talking about the like, the, the influencer day that they played like, probably last week?

Speaker 1:

because I watched no no no, no, this was just him. He was just out there with his caddy, uh, and an oakmont caddy, and his film crew and it was just him. And he played the whole course, started on the back nine and, uh, he shot. Even he had a putt for birdie on 18.

Speaker 2:

I watched the uh, I watched the whole saint andre and uh sunny episode. Uh group group chat golf memes. I watched that whole episode randomly and uh yeah, it's sunny is a, is a, a. One handicap plus one, I can't remember. But yeah, he got. He got eight and alive. I'm so stoked, I love it. Let the brutalness commence. Yeah, hey, and it's fair too. You just gotta hit the, you gotta hit the fairway, you gotta hit the green.

Speaker 3:

It's all there is to it easy so yeah, those greens they look crazy man like you. They look flat, but the ball just trickles. It's like continuous trickles all the way to the sides, to the front, to the back.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, it's nuts.

Speaker 3:

I love it losing balls in the rough. I mean you barely hit it off the rough. I mean there's like a definitive line where the fairway is and then, other than that, you're buried. Miss the green I send you.

Speaker 2:

I think I might only send it to matt, but I probably sent it to the chat where Jeff Marsh pulled a, a SWAT ball true, vis SWAT ball out of the rough, Like that shouldn't be there. But it's there because it's. It's grown up crazy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I love it. It looks like it's the weather's supposed to be nice Thursday and then it's rain the rest of the time, so it's going to be swampy in that rough.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Oakmont's sick.

Speaker 1:

Stuck for it. The course is incredible. It's absolutely incredible. It's an amazing design Bryson was talking about. This is the only design the guy had. It was his only golf course he designed. It's hard. It's narrow the bunkers. They've added some depth to the bunkers. They did get rid of a lot of the trees. That doesn't bother me. It bothered a lot of the traditionalists. But I like it being open like that and you know it's going to be a challenge. It's gonna be. We say this every year. I mean, dustin Johnson won four under last time and it wasn't this thick. I think the USGA is at a point where they're like, no, we're not doing it anymore, we're not doing 21 under and you know, let's, let's, let's seriously challenge these guys.

Speaker 2:

I love it. It but dj is not in it, I can guarantee you that. But um I love it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, definitely not going to be a repeat for him. I he's not the same golfer he was back then, um, so yeah, uh, so I I highly encourage anybody if you haven't watched the Bryson thing, go watch it. I'm going to watch Grant's video later on tonight and we'll see it's that show on YouTube there's a lot of YouTube shows, yeah how things work.

Speaker 2:

Grant how things work. How things work.

Speaker 1:

Grant how things work, how things uh see will anybody purposely step on a ball like phil did that one tournament purposely?

Speaker 3:

did he stop the ball when it was rolling?

Speaker 1:

oh that one yeah that? Where was that at that was at, oh I have a video of that.

Speaker 4:

On my idea, was it um? Was that a shinnecock, shinnecock, yeah yeah, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3:

I mean, with it being wet they're they'll. They do drain, but I don't think they're going to be crusted out fast like shinnecock was like the word. They were watering in between groups.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, what's the forecast?

Speaker 1:

looking like. Has anybody seen it?

Speaker 3:

Yep Tomorrow or Thursday is nice Thursday is going to be warm 80s, and then after that it's rain. Still warm, yeah.

Speaker 4:

I don't think it's going to get crusty, but that rough will be juicy and they'll probably still keep the greens at a close to 15 yeah, that's crazy.

Speaker 1:

I mean, yeah, we, julian and I, played at dragon ridge a couple weeks ago and we said the greens are probably rolling at 14 and that's not as undulated, as as oakmont is God, I mean, and there's some we had. I had one putt rise above the hole and it was downhill and I mean I just touched it with my putter face, just like touched it, and it went 10 feet past. So I mean they get any situation like that. Oh, man you're going to is is trail hat in the field Cause.

Speaker 4:

I wanted that one mic'd up. I want him mic'd up 24, seven.

Speaker 1:

Cause you the field because I wanted that one mic'd up.

Speaker 2:

I want him mic'd up 24 7 because you know he's gonna say did you guys see that spot about the stint meter on uh live?

Speaker 3:

from oakmont.

Speaker 2:

It was created because of oakmont right well, the guy, the guy is from oakmont. Yeah, there's like um rod perry or whatever what they. They measured the greens. He would drop a ball on the back of number two or whatever. And if it didn't roll off the front of the green it wasn't fast enough. And that was really interesting in how the stimp meter was created and it took like the USGA 35 years to adopt the stimp meter. That was really interesting to me yeah, if you guys didn't see it.

Speaker 2:

I think you should watch it. Yeah, I'll check it out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I didn't see it at all there's a there's always some good stories on the live app that's why yeah, that's why live at the US Open, live at the Masters.

Speaker 2:

They do such a good job. I love, I love watching that.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the. They did a little thing about the lockers and how every locker's got a little hidden liquor compartment.

Speaker 1:

Seriously.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so everybody can hide their stash from the Prohibition days. As I said every time, they build new lockers and add new lockers. They try to build them to make them look original and each locker, still to this day, has that little lockbox.

Speaker 2:

That's sick. I love that. I mean, golf is like a tradition, right? And that's so cool that it keeps getting passed down and all the stories are the best. I love it. What are you doing, matt?

Speaker 1:

what are you?

Speaker 2:

I'm trying to get.

Speaker 1:

He's preoccupied no, I'm trying to get this. I don't know well it you know I I I authenticated the chasing day that podcast. We got the little blue check mark on our account.

Speaker 2:

Now we're paying for that. We're paying for that now.

Speaker 1:

I'm not sure if that has something to do with it or not, but I'll have to dig in and find out what's going on. Sent a trouble ticket and it didn't happen. Nothing happened.

Speaker 2:

We shall see, don't worry about it. The guys that want to, we'll be here. Don't worry about that, let's talk, I mean we can tune in tomorrow if they need to.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, hey. I made a little pre-show video and told all the haters and there was a lot of them uh to come on tonight and, and you know, let us have it. So I was hoping that ig was working. So, uh, they're gonna have to get uh figure out how to get to youtube because, I'm sure we're probably getting some more flack for that now. Oh, you call us out, then you don't go live I see how you are yeah yeah, yeah, but uh, mike's in the chat and and he helped exploit our ranking system and quite a few people.

Speaker 1:

I was kind of surprised at how much hate we got for not knowing anything about golf, the people who did this ranking clearly don't play golf so many. These aren't even in Vegas. Half these courses aren't in Vegas. There's nine of them that aren't in Vegas.

Speaker 1:

I'm not counting the Boulder City, because that's considered Vegas to me 80% of the comments were about Wolf Creek 80% 80% of the comments were just destroying us for saying that Wolf Creek was the 24th best course in the valley or in the region, when some people are saying it's a top 10 course in the country, which is fucking criminal that's ridiculous.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's ridiculous. Which is fucking criminal? That's ridiculous.

Speaker 1:

That is absolutely insane. Yeah, so I had some fun conversations with a few people. You know, it's kind of like people from Oregon they're not blown away with Bandon.

Speaker 2:

Right, yeah.

Speaker 1:

They get a lot of that. There's coastal golf courses. There's, you know, wooded areas like bandon trails. To someone from the portland area is just another golf course. For us, you know, bandon trails is, in my opinion, the greatest golf course I've ever played. It's incredible, but you know we live in the desert little different ambience us you know, beyond is that the right word?

Speaker 2:

it's so, it's so subjective, like even I was talking to chris torres. He went up to portland and he's like, yeah, it was crazy, like being in the trees. You know, you hear the echo of the trees and we don't have trees out here. You know what I mean. So it's like maybe that person plays on a flat golf course in a muni in missouri, who knows, maybe that's what he sees, and then he goes to, uh, wolf creek creek and is blown away.

Speaker 2:

It's just insane, yeah, and then, and then for us it's like we play in the desert, no trees. Then we go play band and trails and it tells a story and it's incredible and it's highly ranked because it's that good, you know, and it's so subjective very subjective, but you know I think you can be subjective and realist and and I've said this before it's amazing to look at.

Speaker 1:

It is absolutely incredible the, the video game. It's a video game what they accomplished out there unbelievable, even though some other courses in the area have done the exact same thing. But it's not great golf, it's just not. I you know I've had a couple people say oh, first time I played it I started 72. It's like shut the fuck up. Nobody goes into that course blind and shoots 72 because you have no idea 78 first time and that was years ago I shot 73 yeah, okay, maybe I'm wrong first time.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, oh no but it's not, it's not a really hard course.

Speaker 2:

It's not hard. Yeah, you can just blow it blows you away. It's like if you are uh feeling uncomfortable, yeah, I can screw you up. It's not hard, I don't think. I don't think wolf creek's hard at all. I think it just, yeah, blast you in the face with the visuals and it's like. I would never want to play that course every day and that's why it's so low rank. I don't want to play there every day. I don't want to five and a half six hour round every day.

Speaker 1:

I don't want to gas card every day dude and the guys that please let us play, said that they teed off at like 1 30 and it was summer time and you know it's daylight until 7 45 and they didn't finish yeah, no thanks, wow, no thanks and they basically told him that they weren't gonna finish. It's like yeah, yeah, not good, not good, dude.

Speaker 2:

I think we were like off at like 7 am and it took us five and a half hours, that's like you know, it's like yeah, it's. It's not like like it's visually appealing and cool and video gamey, but it's like I would and that's why it's so low rank. I could never play there every day, never, no, no, I mean, we put, we played, makes great videos and pictures, for sure.

Speaker 1:

We played Revere on a Sunday and Lex and we finished in three and a half hours and it should have been three. There was one group in front of us that started a half hour before us and we caught them on the third hole and I mean they finished in four hours. So that's good, that's good, but we were still waiting every box.

Speaker 2:

You know, what I love. What I love is like being first off and it's like the starters, like you're the pace setters, because I did that at Stadium Course and we did that at Sheep Ranch and he's like at Sheep Ranch. He's like pace at sheep ranch. He's like four hours 15 minutes. We finished in like 3, 15 like I love telling them they're wrong. You know like and and the homie got an ace, dan got an ace.

Speaker 3:

Like that helped exactly one of our groups, one of our groups finished in three exactly, yeah, yeah but not too much we played uh.

Speaker 2:

I played uh tpc scottsdale stadium and he's like it's four hours 20 minutes. We finished in 3 45. We were first out. Like it's not hard to like get things done. You know what I mean yeah, so how was scottsdale?

Speaker 2:

tell us all about it it was good, it was hot. It was, uh, humid. Um, tpc scottsdale stadium. As I've told you guys before I I was not expecting much out of it at all, like it's not um, visually entertaining to like my architecture. I, if you will, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not a savant or anything but I enjoyed it. It was way more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be like. Way more enjoyable. I thought I was going to be like okay, I got it done and yeah, it was cool, really cool. Primo conditions, greens were incredible. A lot of history there. Of course it was. I'm glad I. I'm glad I did it because I was. There's so many options out there in Scottsdale that's, that's the hard thing. There's so many golf courses out there. Glad I did it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, what's your favorite hole? You remember anything stand out to you that maybe you weren't expecting my favorite hole was 15.

Speaker 2:

I think that hole is insane very long. Par four green was super elevated um. I I hit a great drive to the right side of the fairway and I had like two or five in and the green super elevated and I had a great four iron. Uh, it ran off the back, but that hole is very long, very long um and then uh, like one, I think, only one birdie, I think.

Speaker 1:

What hold your birdie?

Speaker 2:

I don't remember. I got one birdie. I missed the green on 16. Almost drove the green on 17. Oh yeah, and that's another thing about 16.

Speaker 1:

16 is. I mean, obviously you should have gone live so we could have, you know, cheered or thrown our beers or yeah, the stands are not there, but it was.

Speaker 2:

There's way more like it's not. It's not a crazy hole, but the green is like elevated and there's a big swell in the front and the. That's one thing. Like I'm I'm stoked to watch, uh, waste management, because the greens move a lot more, especially like 16. I was like I didn't think this green looked like this at all, like I thought the green was flat and it's like low on the front and then it goes over in the back. Yeah, it is so different. And even on 17, like that bunker on the right side of the green, it cuts in a lot, if you guys remember right it it. You know that's the thing about playing these courses. I mean tv or pictures do not do these courses justice, you know, like, and that's why you got to get out there and see them, because I I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I was going to and I'm glad i've've played it and there's so many options out there. That's the thing so many options.

Speaker 4:

So, many Would you play it every day, would you say? Would you play it every day?

Speaker 2:

It's a course I could see playing every day. It's very fun. It's not a ton to it. I think it's a great option if you were going to play golf every day. It's it's very fun. It's not a ton to it. I think it's a it's a great option. If you were gonna play golf every day. I could see how you could play it every day. I wouldn't want to, because there's so many options out there and it's too hot.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, where would you put it? Uh, southern dunes? Uh above it, or below it?

Speaker 2:

in the ring, oh man the tough part for me is like uh, it's, it's very tpc, right, it's it's so resorty, I think. I think the elevation is a lot better at scottsdale. I love action if there was more and I've said it before like I love action southern dunes, uh, I just wish there was more elevation and there's more elevation at scottsdale, so I'd I'd probably put scottsdale stadium course over action. I think the bunkering at action Southern Dunes is way better. But yeah, action Southern Dunes doesn't have that elevation aspect to it like Scottsdale does.

Speaker 1:

There's a couple good elevation holes there.

Speaker 2:

It's pretty flat, it's pretty flat, it's pretty flat.

Speaker 4:

I wouldn't say it's pretty flat. It's pretty flat, but like I, said that drivable par 4.

Speaker 3:

It's pretty flat.

Speaker 1:

That drivable par 4 is not flat.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's pretty flat. Yeah, that par 4, 15, is the best hole out there. 100%. I will battle anybody out there that says 15 is not the greatest hole on that course, that stadium course Whoa, it's sick, it is I. I hit my drive and I was like, oh shit, this is sick because it's like you're, you're, you're 20 feet under it and it's like built up and it's like great hole, great hole, and I'm I'm so stoked to watch the the players play that 15 is the best hole on stadium, are you?

Speaker 3:

talking about the par 5? You have to hit it over the water, or is it the par?

Speaker 2:

4? The 4. No, it's a 4. It's before the one with the water in front of the green.

Speaker 1:

So it's 14.

Speaker 2:

We know it's 14. Oh so.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, 15 is the par 5.

Speaker 2:

16 is the par 5? 16? Is the par 3? Yeah, 15, 14, 14 you're talking about. Yeah okay, that hole's sick best hole out there 14 cool, I wouldn't have even thought about 14 it's the one before the par 3, with the water in front of the green.

Speaker 1:

Isn't that a par 5?

Speaker 3:

No, 15's a par 5. The one you hit over the water on the approach.

Speaker 2:

It's not 15.

Speaker 3:

14's the one that's like 500 yards, par 4, right.

Speaker 2:

Exactly that's what I've said.

Speaker 1:

We said 14 and you keep on saying no Long par 4. One before the par 3.

Speaker 2:

14. 14. The one before the par 5 with the water in front of it.

Speaker 1:

There, you said it right that time. How much have you had to drink tonight?

Speaker 2:

87 drinks.

Speaker 3:

So you played twice in Scottsdale.

Speaker 2:

right, yeah, I played grass clippings Only nine holes, but that place is cool man.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, you played Grass Clippings as well.

Speaker 2:

Yeah yeah, really good vibes. I wish we had something like that out here in Vegas. Really cool, really cool.

Speaker 1:

I wish we played all 18, but how come they only do nine at night? Really cool, really cool. I wish we played all 18, but how come they only?

Speaker 2:

is it only? They only do nine at night On Tuesdays. I guess that they like split the boxes for some reason. But no, it was my brother's first time out there and playing golf. He swung a couple of times times, but he was smashing it pretty well. Um, it's cool, it's really cool. I wish we had something like that out here and we don't, you know we don't similar to like goat hill, similar goat hill vibes. Um, it was really cool.

Speaker 1:

Really found a lighted nine hole course in uh oahu. That's not too far from where we'll be staying, so they may have to venture out there and unite hawaii golf. Oh yeah, that would be when do you go? A couple weeks. A couple weeks.

Speaker 2:

Well, I know another course that is throwing lights up very soon and me and Jeremy are going to play it, and you guys probably don't know about it yet because I doubt Jeremy told you guys. He told me oh, I'll tell you guys, me and Jeremy are going to play Shadow Creek on the 26th.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, 16 days, front nine in the sunset and the back nine in the lights and I really hate paying the price, but it's as it's as cheap as you're gonna get.

Speaker 2:

You know what I mean. I, I would, yeah, I'm glad you guys are going.

Speaker 1:

I would go if we weren't going to hawaii.

Speaker 2:

I would be with you out there, with you guys, you know, and uh, so but be kind of hard for me to make that one yeah, and at some point somebody's gonna have to get a uh, a pass to play. Uh, what is it? What's? What's the name of it? Sunrise vista oh, that'll be it.

Speaker 1:

That'll be it you're not missing much, I know, but you know we got to do it, that'll be it You're not missing much, I know, but we got to do it. We got to do it. We had a private fitting event at the Win.

Speaker 2:

Action over Southern Her Stadium.

Speaker 1:

Her Stadium. Yeah, we had a private fitting event at the win, uh, and we were there for two days and they're building a new clubhouse, so they have this little makeshift uh bungalow area. I put a video on instagram, uh, and it's it's pretty cool. I mean, I saw that.

Speaker 1:

Where is that at like, right next to the range, it's oh, okay, one step on the other side of the cart path from where the range is at, uh, or the practice net phrase that uh, and it's, uh, it's cool and for what it is, you know, I mean they got to have something while they're doing the the new clubhouse.

Speaker 1:

So, uh, the new clubhouse is going to be ridiculous, by the way. Um, but I got, uh, an understanding and and I hadn't had this perspective before because typically, when, like when we've gone and played private courses, we're, you know, uh, have somebody that we know that invited us to come along with them, or we do an snga thing, so we really don't get to see all the ins and outs that go on behind the scenes. I 100% know why Wynn Golf Club charges $800 for a round of golf now, and it's to keep vagrants and idiots and hacks off of their golf course. They don't want them there and they're not bashful about it. Uh, I mean it's, it's not written don't come here, but it's basically don't play here unless you can afford to play here.

Speaker 2:

Uh they also don't need to have us or vagrants play.

Speaker 1:

They're not worried about rankings. They're not worried about what people think of the golf course. They're not worried about people complaining that it's too much to pay. They don't care. They want those people happy. They want their rounds not delayed. Their caddies are fantastic. We had a bunch of conversations with the caddies. Those guys are amazing. They absolutely love working there and they want you off the course and in the casino. That's what they care about and they cater to a clientele that is going to spend money in their stores, spend money in their restaurants, gamble at their tables.

Speaker 2:

It's an amenity.

Speaker 1:

It's an amenity, yeah it is and I was, you know, I've you don't like bally high kind of wants you them, they kind of want to have that. You know. Oh, we're on the strip and we're exclusive and it's like no, you, you, you have no idea. The people that are going and playing valley high, that have money, it's not the same people it's, it is a different type of clientele that is going and and playing to win and I get it now.

Speaker 1:

I I didn't understand that before. I kind of had an idea, but uh, yeah, they, they, they could. Now this is my personal opinion they could give a rat's ass about anybody. You know what anybody has to say about their course. As long as the people that spend money in their casino are happy and they present them with this amazing golf course, that they can come and stay, play a great course, gamble at night, eat some food, buy some expensive clothes and get the heck out of dodge, they're going to come back, and I mean the course is in beautiful shape.

Speaker 1:

Everybody that comes off it says they instantly go back there and do it again.

Speaker 3:

I wonder how many rounds they get played out there a day.

Speaker 1:

Right now not a ton, because it's so damn odd. Yeah, you know, I mean we. We were there from eight to four on saturday and not a whole lot of people coming off the golf course, but friday we were there from two to six bunch of people coming off the golf course.

Speaker 2:

So I mean yeah so interesting because, I mean, vegas is such a transient city, right, and it's like everybody that's playing win, for the most part, is in town playing and leaving. You know what I mean? It's?

Speaker 1:

yep, they're not after the locals no definitely not that's why you don't see the local discount. That's why they don't you know and and it makes me kind of understand why valley high is like how they are, because they they know they're going to get the business.

Speaker 1:

They know they're gonna. You know, hey, we can't charge as much as wind and shadow, but we can sure as hell charge a lot and we're going to get a lot of it. So I, I get it, don't like it, but they don't need us. Yeah, true, they don't need us. Their t tee sheets are full all day, every day, even now when it's 190. Holy crap, was it hot today?

Speaker 2:

Bro, like when golf course is in the summer, it's so hot Because that's the bottom of the valley for the most part it's so hot.

Speaker 1:

What are you talking?

Speaker 2:

about. That's close to the bottom of the valley. I played it in like June or July. It was unbearable.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah. That green. The practice range is turf. Yeah, it's hot, jeremy, you know how hot turf gets. Yeah, and then throw a tent over it and then just stand in that convection oven it was brutal. We were cooking Bacon. Yeah, we were cooking.

Speaker 2:

It is hot down there.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so let's see, we got here. We talked a little bit about Bryson. We talked a little bit about our rankings. Since we don't have anybody coming on A, if you want to just send us a message, we'll explain it to you. It's, you know what? There's an episode that explains it all. I'll link it in the show notes so everybody can go back and find it. We explain it all, so there's no yeah, I didn't get that one guy.

Speaker 2:

He was that one guy, he was talking about it. I was like dude, you just need to go listen. He was like I'll go listen, so welcome if you're listening I comment.

Speaker 1:

I just copied it and reposted it on everybody's thing. That said this is bullshit, this is dumb, this is gay, this is bad. You know, I was just like there's a reason, go watch it after the episode. If you still think so, come back and let us know. Otherwise zibit, Zibit. I like the one guy. Oh nice clickbait.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

We did 300 episodes and we're like hey, let's clickbait this one.

Speaker 2:

People crack me up, that's funny man.

Speaker 1:

You can't afford to play Wolf Creek. That's why it's 24.

Speaker 2:

yeah, yeah it's like matt matt's cannot afford a lab butter, and that's why he can't trash about him goal is in the lab golf episode also please, please do.

Speaker 1:

Oh, the the facebook fanboys found my second post with the uh square to square putter, and so that thing's blowing up now.

Speaker 2:

It's like good grief it's so funny. It's a company, man bro company man I could speaking of lab.

Speaker 3:

I think someone that plays lab might have cheated on them they did.

Speaker 1:

I got confirmation. We won't. We won't. We won't let the cat. I'm not gonna help this person. We won't out dirty laundry dirty laundry we won't out them publicly. But yes, uh, a new, uh tailor-made putter is in that person's bag which looks pretty damn good, I think in my 170 something for a round at wolf creek doesn't seem terrible, but haven't played the course yet. Okay, so if that's not terrible, that's not terrible.

Speaker 2:

If you're a first-time listener. You have to play wolf creek one time at least. Absolutely judge it, judge it for yourself, go check it off one time, and then you, if you want, to pay the rate after that, but you do have to play it one time. We will all agree on that, right 100 play it once.

Speaker 2:

Check off any course you can. Wolf creek is playable, at least for one round, so go do that. If it's 170, that's solid, I think, especially if you are on vacation or traveling totally yeah 100 must, must, must play.

Speaker 1:

It is a must play, just just so you can say that you've done it all right. So have any of you watched? Stick yet on Apple.

Speaker 3:

No.

Speaker 2:

I want the new Owen.

Speaker 4:

Wilson no not yet, not yet, so there's four episodes.

Speaker 1:

There's four episodes out.

Speaker 2:

Oh gosh you just bought a lab dude, chill out, relax.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, good. How long have you had it for Find your out, relax? Yeah, yeah, good, how long have you had it for?

Speaker 2:

Find your stroke AG. What are you doing?

Speaker 1:

AG, I'm going to buy a spider putter too. It's good.

Speaker 2:

Man.

Speaker 1:

Think for yourself, sir. Think for yourself.

Speaker 2:

I played my putter for six years.

Speaker 1:

Six years. You've had a goodter for six years, six years.

Speaker 2:

You've had a Goodwood for six years and I just put a different putter in the bag.

Speaker 1:

How did that roll for you For three rounds In?

Speaker 2:

Scottsdale Good, really good, yeah, really good.

Speaker 1:

You liking it.

Speaker 2:

I need a different grip, though I need to figure out the weight. But, goodwood, yeah, great putter, great putter, great putter, I just gotta. I need a different grip. So I need more weight somewhere. I need to get the swing weight down. I can't do that.

Speaker 1:

That green star pro, only golf I just I just put one of those on on the jailbird and it's. I love that grip. It's heavy, it's 88 grams subjective.

Speaker 3:

That's what I put on my good one it's it's too big.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't like it I'm gonna have to figure something out too for that. I need that garson trapezoidal action joint.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but those aren't heavy. You're gonna have more swing weight, I know that's why we gotta figure it out.

Speaker 2:

That's what I'm saying. We to figure it out. That's what I'm saying. We got to figure it out. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

If I decide to sell any putter, I have Joe selling on whatnot. That's from AG.

Speaker 2:

There you go, ag, I got you. Mike says I played in August.

Speaker 1:

It was hot yeah, august Wow.

Speaker 2:

It's not the bottom of the valley, but it's close to the bottom of the valley, but it's close to the bottom of the valley?

Speaker 3:

no, it's not where is the bottom of the valley?

Speaker 1:

the bottom of the valley is down by trey's house east side. East side, yeah, boulder highway and warm springs is the lowest point of the valley it's still close by the more it's closer you sound like a youLV administrator saying the Silver Bowl is close to the campus for football games.

Speaker 2:

No, If you're already past the strip if you're already on that side of the strip it's pretty close.

Speaker 1:

It's only 10 minutes. 10-minute drive, prim, it's not that far.

Speaker 2:

There we go, Adrian. I appreciate you. It's close.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's not close.

Speaker 2:

Good lord.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I'm going to close this window, since we can't do anything with it.

Speaker 2:

Fairly close, fairly close.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, take an Uber ride from the wind to Trey's house and tell me how relatively close it is. You take an Uber anywhere it's 40 minimum. Don't even take an Uber.

Speaker 2:

I'll come pick you up and we can measure the heat it's hot. It's still hot.

Speaker 1:

It's hot. That's all you need to know. It's hot, so stick. It's pretty good. It's kind of Ted Lasso-y good story. Blah, blah, blah. So far the golf hasn't been awful. It so far the golf hasn't been awful. It's not great, but it hasn't been awful. But it's a fun watch. Eric is watching it. It's a fun watch with me. Check that out, golf TV. Matt's lab post was clickbait. Oh yeah, 100%. That's why I did it.

Speaker 1:

I was like hmm, how can I get some clicks? Only been doing this since you know 2010. Let's try it now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah he's been trying to clickbait everyone for years and he finally happened, finally worked you all caught me, you're on to me.

Speaker 1:

oh, let's see. Oh, hey, look Juju's here.

Speaker 2:

Juju.

Speaker 1:

How's the wrist? Juju? Let's see. Adrian says playing Paiute next week and I'm worried about the heat. Drink lots of water before you go. Four or five hours before your tea time, pound water.

Speaker 2:

You'll be fine. Yeah, you'll be fine, it's the best.

Speaker 3:

Great choice, great choice. By the way, groundwater, you'll be fine. Yeah, it'll be fine, it's the best, the breeze great choice, great choice, by the way yes, uh, did anybody watch the no lane up vegas when they played?

Speaker 2:

I did, I did pretty good.

Speaker 1:

What did you think?

Speaker 2:

about? What did you think about? What did you think about neil's like uh perspective on piu?

Speaker 1:

um, I didn't disagree with anything that they said. I I mean, I don't know if I recall his perspective on it, but uh well, he was saying like they got kicked in the teeth with the wind, but the window looked pretty bad it. I mean I it's. I've been out there when the water's splashing up on the green on on 17 or on 16 on snow.

Speaker 2:

So you know I can, I can relate, but uh I think I think it was a, I think it was a fair shake of of pipe. I think it was very fair. Yeah, um, and it was interesting to see his perspective on um. Like he's come to vegas a ton of times, he's never played golf here, and then he got to play and he's like, yeah, the wind was brutal, but like he can see how great vegas golf can be yeah I mean they were in awe of the scenery, which it is when you're out there and you're away from the city.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, the mountains are incredible I mean they were in awe of the scenery, which it is when you're out there and you're away from the city.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the mountains are incredible. I mean, you get an early morning or a late afternoon and you're coming off the course in the golden hour. Oh, it's just breathtaking out there yeah, 16, 16.

Speaker 1:

I mean the the pond was whipping though there was like yeah, white, white caps out there hitting driver on the four, the par three yeah, yeah, oh yeah 50 mile an hour wind in their face. It's like good lord uh I thought it was really good, yeah, they did a good job, some great aerials. Uh, you know, they had lunch at the pepper mill, which I thought was awesome. Yeah, um, gave some of the arts districts some love, which was kind of cool to see, showing some of the sides of Vegas that not everybody gets to see.

Speaker 2:

They highlighted public golf and private golf, which I appreciate. Yeah, yeah, it was cool.

Speaker 1:

So if you haven't watched that, make sure you check that out.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, for sure 1,000%.

Speaker 1:

Play it at least once. It's an experience. Are you talking about? What are you talking about?

Speaker 2:

when or he's talking about wolf creek okay I would say he had an x-ray today.

Speaker 1:

Get back in five days okay, his wrist was bugging him this weekend, you tell he was in a bad mood. All right, uh, so we got that taken care of. Uh, we'll get our picks for the us open, not that it even give a shit, but it's always fun to pick them. Joe, if you want to bring up the odds, they're, they're on the pga website. If you don't want to do it, I can bring it up too. Um, and then I I've been exploring, I chatted with joe about this the other day and then I brought the guys in on it about it.

Speaker 1:

You know we wanted to do some way of, you know, bringing some financial support to the site without ads. You know, we do have a few sponsors that help us with some things, and we're grateful for places like the golf stop and words golf and Las Vegas golf superstore. But you know, we want to be able to do things for the listeners. We want to, you know, have some giveaways, have some things to show our support for you who tune in to us each week and listen and download the show and follow us on our socials and buy things from Joe's Whatnot. We love all you guys and so, and gals and gals, we want to be able to, you know, give back a little bit.

Speaker 1:

And so we've been trying to find a couple different ways to do it and turns out there's some really big legalese that goes on with the word giveaway and sweepstakes and lotteries, and so I mean mean we thought about doing a paid prescription subscription, uh, on instagram, but you have to have 10 000 followers. We're just a little shy on that, so won't be doing it on that, uh, I talked to the friend of ours about patreon and he's like no, do not do patreon, it sucks uh. So I had somebody reach out on ig, so I'm going to have a conversation with them about it. But we're we're working on behind the scenes, you know, trying to figure out a way that we can do this and bring you guys some gear. I teased it in the in the video. Where's all? Oh, it's over here.

Speaker 2:

Hang on a second hey, honestly, we're not going anywhere. We're 340 deep like yeah, we're not.

Speaker 1:

We're not going anywhere. So, uh, this was. This was my first jailbird. This isn't the jailbird from the video, that was a slant neck, but this is the one that's got the la shaft in it. It's a special edition la golf shaft jailbird mini plumber's neck or crank hosel that's what ch stands for. Uh, it's got the golf pride reverse taper grip on it. So we got something like that. It's just sitting in my closet.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I don't want to get raped on whatnot, because somebody, will, you know, buy it for 50 bucks and when it's, you know, with that shaft and that head, it's a 600 putter. Uh, then I have this bad boy. This is my old driver. This is a ai smoke max head. Uh, it's in great shape. I only gained this for like six months before the elite came out. Uh, it's got the tensei blue. Uh, what is it? 65 stiff shaft in it. So that's something that we can be given away. Like I said, this just it's just sitting and collecting dust and then you know, we've got the new crank driver that Lance sit us sent us. We've all played with it and we've all had fun with it, but it's time to go in someone's bag that's going to game it. It's fun to hit. I just I'm not confident with it.

Speaker 1:

Uh, so I'd much rather you know give that away to a listener or a fan of the show, somebody that, uh, would get better use out of it than than my closet. So, but in order to do that, you know, we kind of need something from you and that's follows and likes and shares and and comments and posts and all that stuff. And comments and posts, and all that stuff. We want to get to 1,000 subscribers on YouTube we're at 480. We've got a ways to go. And 5,000 IG followers Not a big ask.

Speaker 1:

We're at 1,733. Trying to do a little bit more with our content on IG. I watch a lot of it and could believe me, no one's pulling up with us standing out there with wet towels in our hands, uh. So, uh, you know, once, once we hit these numbers, we'll start giving some of this stuff away to you guys that follow the show. It's that simple, Free stuff is out there. We just need your help growing the show. So do us a favor, leave a comment on our socials, engage with us. What Mad in a One Piece, oh.

Speaker 2:

God, you don't want to see that.

Speaker 1:

Nobody wants to see that.

Speaker 2:

Matt's always in a one-piece.

Speaker 1:

I'm always yeah. Door-to-door wrapping paper sales. Who is?

Speaker 3:

That would be me. Oh, that's you yeah.

Speaker 1:

How did you get the CDP login on Facebook?

Speaker 2:

That's impressive because he's got a new level hat.

Speaker 1:

That's why yeah not on new level.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, shout out new level shout out new level, um.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, we'll be working on some things, and and we need your help. So, if you're watching this on youtube, hit that subscribe button. Uh, if you're watching this on instagram, well, you're not, because it's not on instagram right now.

Speaker 2:

Um hey adrian did ask about the, the special edition elite driver.

Speaker 1:

Just uh the sandstorm one chops in.

Speaker 2:

But yeah, we talked about that last.

Speaker 1:

They talked about that last week, but we talked about that out there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, because I listened to last week's episode yes, I didn't put my two cents in, but no, they did uh, I like it.

Speaker 1:

I think it looks great, it's a it's a great looking driver. Um, you know, they calloway's done that with uh the military stuff for a couple years now. Did it with the jaws wedges and did it with uh that sandstorm edition. It looks pretty good. It's pretty good, I mean it's.

Speaker 3:

There's definitely people out there that will want that I secretly think it looks better than the regular Elite.

Speaker 1:

Well, it doesn't have green on it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I'm with you, I'm with you. I think it's sick. I saw it and I was like that's sick. I like that more than the Elite 100%.

Speaker 1:

It's definitely different. I'll go back and listen first time. Oh hey, thank you so much thank you for being here how did you come about finding us? That's what I think. I think it's whatnot I is it whatnot?

Speaker 4:

I would think so absolutely.

Speaker 1:

Joe is promoting the shit out of the show on whatnot so?

Speaker 2:

did. I did two pop-up shows this evening and popped up and sold a couple things and promoted the show. So and it cost me money. So when you, when we, get some money, you owe me oh okay, I'll just deduct that from I'm kidding, I'm kidding, I'm kidding, I'm kidding the scale is like this right now instagram and the godforsaken list. I like it. Hey Adrian, thank you for being here.

Speaker 1:

I wasn't on last week. The godforsaken list, that's hilarious.

Speaker 2:

I wasn't on last week, but I think the Elite driver in the Sandstorm colorway is way better than the Elite colorway and Matt right here will probably disagree because he's a company man, but I think it. When I saw it I was like oh, I think it's incredible I brought it it's the. It's the best, it's the best, it's the best. I think it was the best uh one that they've done. I think it looks, and I think it looks great hey one that they've done.

Speaker 1:

I think it looks great. Hey, if you like, Stan Storm, throw some W's up in the chat chat.

Speaker 4:

It's the homies.

Speaker 1:

C-H-A-T.

Speaker 2:

Not the chat, they're the homies. That's right, because anybody that plays golf is the homie.

Speaker 1:

That's it. That's funny. He said oh wait, wrong app. Oh, look at greenlee, look at jmart rocking the new level hat.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah they've been powered up with those new shafts you like them. They've been powered up for sure, dude, they're so good they're.

Speaker 1:

So you, you played great on sunday. Yeah, you played great. I've been on a putting bender. I am putting so damn good right now and just I'm so happy, yep, so happy. My putting stats are just absolutely off the charts right now. I even got a compliment from Trey on my putting.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's you know, that's probably hard to come by, I think. I mean he's never told me.

Speaker 1:

I put it well yeah, it'd be like how sick is that bunker maybe, but nice flop joe, that was a sick flop oh, hey, matt's in the chat. What up matt?

Speaker 4:

maddie, when do you leave for oakmont?

Speaker 1:

yeah, are you there? Now what?

Speaker 2:

not her fellow? What not her?

Speaker 1:

I got your grip. Today the the contest won it only fucking usps. Man, god, they suck, they do suck, yeah trade doesn't compliment anyone. I hope he's listening, he's there?

Speaker 2:

oh, you're there.

Speaker 1:

Now he's on the ground so matt marino is a buddy of dan's um. I never got to personally say a brother of mine a brother uh matt, you're getting your invite like very soon.

Speaker 2:

Just I'm just saying that you're gonna get your. Yeah, you're coming on the pod.

Speaker 4:

You're coming on the pod when you get back from oakmont, so take next week full notes well, it's gonna be a couple weeks, I'm sorry. That's all right. Well, you're coming on after you get back.

Speaker 1:

We got a special guest coming on next week.

Speaker 2:

Oh, we don't even know about this.

Speaker 1:

I'm pulling a Joe and saying that Matt can't come on when I'm not here, since Joe wouldn't let us have him on when he wasn't here. I'll miss the following week, but then we can have him on after that okay, yeah, that'll be awesome.

Speaker 4:

I can't wait to talk, forget to grab don't forget to grab a bunch of merch for whatnot matt oh, yeah, give me some teas, give me tea look at this man.

Speaker 1:

You appreciate this. This is a I mean, this is like the old I I. This was given to me by a dear friend and I I'll never wear it. No, that it's Oakmont.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's a squirrel bro.

Speaker 1:

My buddy Andrew.

Speaker 4:

I can't see it, oh, here here.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay, yeah, it's got the Western. I'm sure that's Western Pennsylvania Golf Association. So I know it's the Imperial dad had. I can't do those.

Speaker 2:

What's's the dear friend? You got more dear friends than us three.

Speaker 1:

What the hell well, you know, there were golfers that I traveled with before you fools. So, yes, no, my buddy andrew got to play it. Um, a couple years ago I wrote a. He wrote an article on the blog about it. It's funny. Uh, mario Lemieux was in front of him during his round, but he got to play it and it was an amazing experience. At that time he did not know that, even though I was a dad I don't wear dad hats.

Speaker 2:

I can go down and get it.

Speaker 1:

Let me go get it. This is it. Go there From the pro shop at Oakmont Hat. Who makes it? It is Imperial. Oh yeah, so it's got that the latch system on the back where you can tuck it in. Yep, you can tuck it in the side. I hated those hats.

Speaker 2:

Oh, my God.

Speaker 1:

I mean, look at the profile on this. It looks like something they'd wear on MASH. Yeah, it's so bad.

Speaker 4:

They used to give us those shitty hats when we counted at Bears like completely unstructured, with just a little flap and adjuster.

Speaker 1:

You got to stick it in the hole. I mean I could put this in an envelope and mail it to somebody. Look at that. I mean there's nothing to this. It's terrible.

Speaker 4:

Packable hats.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You may see this on WhatNot soon, that little red dot on the end. I mean, I don't know, I was like but I got a t-shirt and some tees too, so I'm not too upset about it. Where'd joe go? What do you go get?

Speaker 4:

he's getting some pine valley gear he wants to go get that oakmont?

Speaker 2:

oh, that oakmont, oh yeah although I think with the swat on it all right, so I know since matt's tuning in. Since Matt's tuning in, he asked for the circle tee gear. Yeah, I know, did you get us a tee time at Purcell?

Speaker 1:

No Kidding, I was trying to thank him for that.

Speaker 4:

I'll get his in.

Speaker 2:

I know Matt knows what that is. I found this on whatnot. I thought that was so cool. I just learned about what that is.

Speaker 1:

I found this on Whatnot. I thought that was so cool, I just learned about the SWAT. Can you take maybe $30-$40 from your Whatnot funds and update your studio lighting?

Speaker 2:

It's off tonight because I did a Whatnot to promote the show 30 minutes before. But no, he wanted us to show some Circle T stuff.

Speaker 4:

What's up, Matty Boyd?

Speaker 1:

Boyd in the house. What's?

Speaker 4:

up.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 2:

There you go, it's the ball market. Do you want us?

Speaker 4:

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's right here Grab that too, and then some tees. Yeah, it's right here.

Speaker 2:

Grab that too, hey, hey, and then some tees.

Speaker 3:

Nice Show that the tradition.

Speaker 2:

And then I also grabbed the Pine Valley joint. I'll never wear it, but it's cool to have.

Speaker 4:

There we are, joe, you wear it after you play Pine Valley Then you can wear it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I just got to play first. I'm note you wear it after you play pine valley then you could wear it. Yeah, yeah, I just got to play first. I'm not gonna wear it. It's gonna sit in the garage or the closet.

Speaker 1:

Might wear it around the house a couple times, but can't wear it unless I've played it greenlee saying as a tm staffer we have an event in houston on the 23rd will be my first fan of the company. I'm a big fan of the company. I'm a big fan of the company. I'm a big fan of the company. I'm a big fan of the company.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

I'm a big fan of the company.

Speaker 2:

I'm a big fan of the company. I'm a big fan of the company. I'm a big fan of the company. I yeah there, I mean it's. Yeah, he's sending a box for whatnot too so no, I, I, uh.

Speaker 1:

I just asked him how I was so wrong about what I was saying about the mini driver last week and uh, he now, he loves it no, he, he said I he was just talking shit, because everything I said is what he said false too but then he also said I was really hot so he's provoking yeah, false too yeah 13 is.

Speaker 4:

This is so greenly relaxed hey, green, that on a shirt that's going on a shirt right there it says I'm stoned right now I'm stoned right now greenly.

Speaker 1:

Discussion was heated. Oh well, thanks for catching up on the live there, mike. He said he was five minutes behind, not live, so that's why his comments were coming in weird. Oh man, funny stuff, funny stuff, all right. So, going back to what I was saying a little while ago 1,000 subscribers on YouTube, 5,000 followers on Instagram and we'll start giving away some free shit. How cool is that.

Speaker 2:

How cool is fucking that.

Speaker 1:

This hat brought to you by Whatnot.

Speaker 2:

I did get it on Whatnot. Yeah, go follow Matt me.

Speaker 4:

Put that motherfucker on the way away.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, this was a pricey hat, but I couldn't get it. I nobody else could get this right. It belongs in vegas, the desert in hat. The og 70s, 80s og desert in hat nobody else could get this.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

Huh, $14.

Speaker 3:

Speaker 2:

I'm kind of scared to say Are you a little sick?

Speaker 1:

$23.75. I'm going to the extreme levels of what you should have paid for that Way higher $89.

Speaker 3:

Way higher.

Speaker 2:

Higher than $89?

Speaker 3:

$124.

Speaker 2:

Greenlee did you send Joe some weed Lower? No, I was in a battle on whatnot and I was like nobody else can have this If they're not in Vegas. This was like a brand new Desert Inn hat. Nobody else can get it 107 bucks higher isn't it crazy?

Speaker 4:

the price is right game, it's like that.

Speaker 2:

107, 108 yeah, I bought it. I bought it and I felt instant regret, but I was like now I got it, I got it, it's home. It's home, guys. The desert hat is home at $115 oh my god is it melon? It's vintage.

Speaker 1:

Phil, you want to buy this hat nope, that doesn't mean anything.

Speaker 2:

to buy this hat? Nope, that doesn't mean anything to me. This means something to me. This means something to me.

Speaker 1:

I got to play the DI a couple times and I wouldn't pay $25 for that hat.

Speaker 4:

I missed the. Di I got to play it once. That course was sick.

Speaker 1:

That course was arguably one of the best courses in town. It was so good God, it was so good god, it was so good it's home.

Speaker 2:

I couldn't let some guy in like tennessee.

Speaker 1:

No, no, it's home motherfucker hasn't paid his tournament entry fees yet, but he'll spend 115 on a hat. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm in debt Priorities, that's all good.

Speaker 4:

Hey Joe, I get it, I get it, don't make him feel better about his. No, I'm just saying I understand why he bought it. I never would have bought it, I never would have paid that much for it, but Joe's Joe.

Speaker 1:

Oh, absolutely.

Speaker 4:

Why we love him. Joe is the vibe, and if he feels something, he's going to go with it, regardless of the price tag.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, my, my, my top number was like 90 and somebody bid 95.

Speaker 4:

So I threw 120 out there.

Speaker 1:

I got it. That's crazy.

Speaker 4:

I get it Good for you.

Speaker 1:

Who was who? Was that Not good for me? Was that trendy? Was that thrifty? Golfer you got it from the hat show. Yeah, you know he paid like $2 for that hat.

Speaker 2:

He probably did yeah.

Speaker 1:

He's an excellent salesman. He got romantic with the wallet. It happens.

Speaker 2:

It does, it does happen you know.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, you know. Hey, mike wants to know what's the most you spend on a vinyl uh 90 bucks, 90, 88, 88, 88 carly simon greatest hits well, that's the thing, man like I'm not gonna carly

Speaker 2:

I'm not gonna just like spend money on something that doesn't like hit home. You know what I mean. So the the album I spent money on was it hit home to me? It was when I left vegas and I was. I was playing that record every day, every day, when I was in florida, when I moved there to go go to school, and I played it every day. So that's the reason why I spent that money on that because it's out of print, you can't get it. So 90 bucks, I'll take it nostalgia spend. And you can't get this anymore. This does not exist. This does not exist. This does not exist. And I've played win twice. I've seen the DI bridge twice. The DI bridge is still on the course.

Speaker 1:

I got a Royal Links hat. Do you want to buy that?

Speaker 2:

No, I got.

Speaker 1:

Royal.

Speaker 2:

Links, stuff.

Speaker 1:

It's gone though.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but I have stuff I need, need one of everything. If there's another di thing comes up, I'm good, I gotta get you a silverstone, some silverstone swag yeah, there's a ton of desert in stuff on ebay I bought a rush album for my dad.

Speaker 1:

That's harder, though I never played it I bet yeah what did you never play silverstone?

Speaker 2:

yeah, I never played silverstone you ever play badlands? Nope, but I have a ball right there, wow. My dad used to play there a lot, so I get we were getting comments where's?

Speaker 1:

badlands on the ranking.

Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah, yeah, it's gone right, right, next to prim yeah royal length and silverstone and silverstone and black mountain, yeah black mountain

Speaker 1:

oh man did you ever play black mountain joe?

Speaker 2:

no, I, I, I hate that like maddie. It's been closed for over a decade yeah it's gone, it's gone, it's been gone for years silverstone did get bought.

Speaker 1:

They have not released who bought it, yet they don't know.

Speaker 4:

They did release his name yesterday did they? Okay, uh, no supposedly the he needs uh, he needs um like 70 of the residents approval to not build a golf course there.

Speaker 1:

That's not going to happen. Those people want that course back, but man, it's terrible.

Speaker 4:

We may get another golf course coming. Dude, that golf course was sick yeah it was fun.

Speaker 1:

You would have liked it, joe yeah, yeah, it was just like.

Speaker 4:

It was just like boulder creek, if not better I know I would have loved it, I know three nines three, nines, one was like one of them was almost 700 yards from the tip, so it was like 677 from the tips challenging, like oakmont at the us. Yeah it was, it was all. It was all you want.

Speaker 2:

Silverstone was dope yeah you had a beautiful clubhouse too, and then those people torch that shit down or whatever the hell they were doing yeah, we have a friend that lives in there and every time I like we go visit them I'm like what the fuck dude like just make a nine or something. You know what I mean?

Speaker 4:

like we had big, big houses out there and they were fairly new when that golf course folded up, so I can understand johnny miller chichi rodriguez.

Speaker 2:

Johnny miller chichi rodriguez. Bro, doesn't get much better than that in vegas I don't know about all that, but Johnny Miller was drunk when he built Badlands. Yeah, well, I mean, because he was in Vegas. I mean Paiute's better, but hey. Matt, did you know that?

Speaker 4:

Johnny Miller shot 63 at Oklahoma. I heard about that Really.

Speaker 1:

He loves telling people about that. All right, really, he loves. He loves telling people about that, all right. Uh, so picks for the us open. Uh, not that anybody gives a shit what we think, but we'll throw it out there. Uh, joe, let's start with you. What do you think?

Speaker 2:

uh, you know it's a, you know it's. Uh, yeah, a, you know. I don't know who knows, but I'm going to say Ludwig.

Speaker 1:

Ludwig Ludwig.

Speaker 2:

Ober.

Speaker 1:

Ober A-bear.

Speaker 3:

What's the score? Choose the winning score too for Ludwig.

Speaker 2:

We're going to. Yeah, winning score is going to be four under.

Speaker 1:

Minus four. All right Dan.

Speaker 2:

It's been like been slowly going down. I started at 10, then I went to six then I went to five. Now I'm at four, so it's probably going to be two.

Speaker 4:

I'll say it's kind of a long shot because he hasn't done shit, but I just feel like he might do something this week. I'm going to go with Patrick Cantley, can't look that guy. I know, I know you don't like.

Speaker 1:

Joe Can't stand his face. I know you don't like him, but yeah, I'm going to go with a little bit of a long shot and I'll say at minus two, minus two.

Speaker 2:

He seems like he does not like golf at all.

Speaker 1:

He doesn't. He just you know, I don't know.

Speaker 4:

I think he just got a lot of hate for him as well.

Speaker 1:

Has anybody that played in TGL won this year on tour?

Speaker 2:

How could they win on tour when they're? Oh sorry, no finish that thought joe, oh, rory did live.

Speaker 1:

Rory did. Okay, that's right. Yeah, he won the masters. Yeah, that's right. Okay, jeremy, who you got right I'm going bryson.

Speaker 2:

Whoa, oh, holy moly. Whoa, whoa, new irons in the bag. Yeah, new irons in the bag. I thought he was going to say Jordan Spieth 47 under, honestly.

Speaker 3:

My second choice.

Speaker 1:

I'm going with the front runner because I don't think anybody can hit the ball as straight as Scottie with his irons. I think putting may be a problem for him there. He is not the best putter in the world by any stretch of the imagination. Oh, shout out Harry Hall. He's number two strokes game putting right now. He's got his ranking back to his lowest, his OWGR at 82, and he's number 13 in overall strokes gain on the season, which is pretty freaking impressive for the big man way to go, harold way to go harold, harold uh yeah, I'm, I'm going chef and I'm going low at two under.

Speaker 1:

Uh, always chalk, always, chalk, always. Well, no, I, I took Bryson for the for the PGA do really well there always chalk not, chalk not.

Speaker 2:

I think no. Notables are Tommy Fleetwood, sep Straka, shane Lowry somebody else I forgot, I got the let's see here.

Speaker 1:

Here it is. Let me bring this up. This is the odds. I got them right here. Scotty Schefter's a favorite.

Speaker 4:

How about, like a Russell Henley? He's been playing solid all year.

Speaker 1:

Let's see when is Russell.

Speaker 2:

We got a Wakanaman at minus six.

Speaker 1:

John Rahm is up there.

Speaker 4:

He's playing good too. He's playing great. That's a good pick, ag. I like that.

Speaker 1:

There's Cantley at 4,500. Kefka Jordan Spieth, hovland, terrell Hatton, please mic him up. Please mic him up.

Speaker 4:

Yes, please you could do that on pay-per-view and I would pay it for real sam burns.

Speaker 1:

Sam burns is the best putter on the planet right now. Um, even though he did not play off, I watched him again, bradley also bradley trying to play himself into a playing captain role. Erger's back, harris English is playing really well and we get down Tony Finau, justin Rose.

Speaker 2:

What about Justin Rose going?

Speaker 1:

cross-handed with the chipping. It's got to be a bridge thing right now.

Speaker 2:

I think Justin Rose is a sleeper for sure, Min Woo man.

Speaker 1:

as much as I love the Shaft boy, he's going to be in trouble off the tee out there. That rough is, it's a two-stroke penalty almost In some spots. There's DJ down there defending Oakmont Open champion Adam.

Speaker 2:

Scott, he's toast. Missing the cut. Missed the cut.

Speaker 1:

He's going to show up, hit a tee shot and walk home. He does not care at all, and then down at the bottom, god, a lot of people in this. These are all the guys that made it Qualifiers.

Speaker 2:

Jeremy and Dan will be at the bottom next year, right.

Speaker 1:

Look at Nick Dunlap.

Speaker 4:

Let's hope, let's hope yeah.

Speaker 1:

Preston Summerhays is playing in this. Some good young talents, man, golf is in a good spot. Golf is in a good spot. All right, get rid of that. If you guys got anything else, there's our picks. I got Joe with Aberg, dan with Cantley, dan with Cantley, jeremy with Bryson and I'm with Chef Joe. Are you playing with us Sunday morning?

Speaker 2:

Yes, I told you that.

Speaker 1:

Well, I wasn't sure if you were responding to playing tomorrow or early. Nice. We got a CDP round, Father's Day round Sunday morning with the boys, so that'll be fun. And yeah, oh, Alessandro's chiming in. He says Jocko is 600. But he doesn't have a lab hunter. Gotta go with the lab hunter guy, right he's got that.

Speaker 3:

No, tailor me. He wants to tailor me.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's true. Us Open major giveaway could be big. Oh, I, mike, we can tell us, because it's, it's, uh, it's giving away a foursome at oakmont and uh and uh yeah I'll chat you up uh in the a am and we can figure it out and get it running before uh tea time start on thursday. So all right, anybody got anything else? Bueller, bueller, bueller great movie korean movie really damn good. Howdy james love that hat joe chris did you know how much he paid?

Speaker 3:

I bet chris was the one bidding against you I already told him, I already he already told him when I was bidding on.

Speaker 2:

I sent him screenshots. How much do you think this is worth? He said 80. I was like 115. Yeah, yeah, I'm happy to own it. I'm happy to own it.

Speaker 1:

I paid too much, but it's cool, it's fucking sick, nobody else has this would any of you be interested in joining Julian and myself for a late afternoon tea time at Laughlin Ranch next Thursday late?

Speaker 2:

afternoon tea time at Laughlin Ranch next Thursday Late afternoon. No Very good possibility.

Speaker 4:

Speaker 3:

The guy with no kids. I think Zane has drive, chip and putt next Thursday. Oh really, where at it's at Paiute. Oh, that's the wrong direction. I know, hopefully we're downwind. Yeah, hammer it, zane At.

Speaker 4:

Paiute.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, the qualifier thing yeah, oh man that's dope.

Speaker 1:

What time is that at Do?

Speaker 3:

you know, I'm not sure yet, probably and hopefully in the morning.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they typically do them in the morning.

Speaker 3:

I know.

Speaker 1:

Emma's were always early in the morning. Yeah Well, the invite is there. Yeah, they typically do them in the morning. I know Emma's were always early in the morning.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 4:

Speaker 1:

Speaker 3:

Is that Olympic Club logo sick?

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

I don't know if everybody heard that Dan has lost 47 pounds.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

That is-.

Speaker 3:

Speaker 4:

Speaker 2:

Speaker 4:

Really good, except for I got to keep buying fucking clothes, got to buy new underwear, all this shit. The only thing I didn't change are my socks.

Speaker 3:

You wear suspenders with your underwear.

Speaker 1:

That's a good thing For real. That is awesome man. Congratulations on that. That's an inspiration I need to finish. You inspire people Daniel Hodges you inspire people, daniel hodges yeah you do inspire people absolutely, hey, and trey gave you props for the concert and your trip, for you know staying off the sauce.

Speaker 1:
