340: Play Free, Missing Your Tee Time Might Just Improve Your Game
Golf is more than just a game – it's about showing up on time, adapting to changing environments, and sometimes finding your best swing when you least expect it. This week's episode begins with "Matt's Apology Tour," a hilarious recounting of tournament email mishaps that left Joe rushing to make his tee time. The unexpected twist? After arriving late and playing without pressure, Joe shot an impressive 81 despite two triple bogeys, revealing how "playing free" might be the secret mental approach many golfers need.
The conversation shifts to the troubling transformation of Cascada Golf Course, where water restrictions have dramatically altered its identity. Once defined by beautiful waterfalls (hence the name), the course now features dry creek beds and dying palm trees. This opens a broader discussion about Las Vegas golf courses disappearing at an alarming rate, with each closure making tee times at remaining facilities harder to secure. The hosts emphasize how every golfer shares responsibility as part of the "grounds crew" to preserve what remains.
Equipment talk dominates the middle segment, with putters taking center stage. From Garson Grips to the TaylorMade Spider ZT and Goodwood putters, the hosts dive deep into the personal preferences that make putter selection so unique. A moment of comic relief comes when they share photos of a friend's severely beaten Scotty Cameron, described colorfully as a "bean and cheese burrito" due to its worn appearance.
The episode rounds out with professional golf discussions, including reflections on the Bandon Amateur tournament, debates about sponsor exemptions for PGA Tour elevated events, and the contrasting competitive approaches of Tiger Woods versus today's stars like Scottie Scheffler. Throughout it all runs a thread of genuine passion for golf and the camaraderie it creates, reminding listeners why this game connects us all.
Whether you're a weekend warrior or a daily player, this episode captures the spirit of golf in all its frustrating, hilarious, and occasionally transcendent glory. Tune in every Tuesday at 8:30 PM Pacific for more golf talk that feels like a conversation with your best friends on the course.

playing strings orchestra can't stop the feeling yeah I don't even know what that is he said he my apology, my apology, it's Matt's apology tour, Because he fucked up.
Speaker 2:I'm sorry.
Speaker 1:Joe.
Speaker 2:This is how it was supposed to start.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, he was pissed at me. Can't hear it. You to put it in like this, you gotta.
Speaker 2:We can't hear you, bro well, I'm sorry, like I, I don't know how to obtain the audio anymore. It used to be so easy. You go to napster, you download it and yep yeah, so yes this music.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's you know naps or fucking lars ulrich man it was so cry baby cry baby ass, it was so good back in the day.
Speaker 2:So yes, this is the matt apology tour. Um to be fair on my behalf, I did send joe an email. It just wasn't that wasn't me it wasn't.
Speaker 2:It wasn't joe keith, it was joe herrera. Um, he wasn't playing in the tournament, so he was just ignoring the emails didn't go. Hey, why is matt emailing me all this information about t times? Uh, so yeah, joe, didn't get it. And then, when, when you sent, you sent me the message and said I just woke up, I didn't know that you thought it was at eight. I thought you were sending me a message saying I just woke up and so I was fucking he goes.
Speaker 1:Maybe it's time for you to get the fuck off of whatnot that's what he sent me.
Speaker 2:That was so pissed, bro, I knew he was on whatnot till one in the morning. Uh, oh, oh. Did you see what vick just said?
Speaker 4:you didn't well.
Speaker 1:So in my defense, we were driving in arizona. I go matt, what time is? Uh, saturday's 7 am? I said no, they don't remember.
Speaker 2:If you were in the car on that trip. Please raise your hand. Yeah, how many people showed up for the 7 am tea time? Please raise your hand.
Speaker 1:How many people were on the email list?
Speaker 2:I never said it was at 8 am.
Speaker 1:We were driving to Payson, I swear swear, I see this in my head and I said I said hey, by the way, matt, what time is? Uh, highland? Falls yeah in my head well, so I'm going to bed. I'm going to bed friday night and I see matt saying no, it's 8 am in my head.
Speaker 2:So I'm like that's a joke, that's not a problem 30.
Speaker 1:Well, you said 8 am in the car. So I said, and I said what time is it? 7 am and you go no, 8 am. That's what I see in my head.
Speaker 2:I can visualize that moment, just like I visualize a little punch, cutter, draw and skipper and if it was eight o'clock then yeah, I would have said that, but since it wasn't but, you know chance I said that anyway, and miles, miles also in my defense.
Speaker 1:Didn't get any of the emails either, but was still there at seven yeah, well, that's because I was like I knew I was playing with matt boyd because boyd, who's in the chat, texted me. So, like I, literally I did not check golf genius because I knew I was playing a boyd. I know somebody in the in the, in the group I'm playing, and I was brushing my teeth after I woke up at 6 30 that's when I set my alarm. I was 6 35 because I'm gonna get there by 8, which I would have been there. Fine, I'm brushing my teeth. I was like I should probably check who I'm playing with. I know boyd, and it was golf genius. And I said 7 am, fuck, I'm gonna be late, hey. And I still shot at 80 with two triples.
Speaker 1:I took triples on the first two holes I was there by the, I was there by the third hole, bro yeah, no, you, I, I was, I was impressed, you said. You said no point of coming.
Speaker 2:Oh, you asked still showed up and I was like there's no chance you're gonna make it in time and parked parked in the red zone I still.
Speaker 1:I did not make it on time, but I still came to play fucking golf, because golf is the best game that you'll ever play, and I still fucking came bro.
Speaker 2:Well, that wasn't my only apology, because I typically on friday, late friday afternoons, early friday evenings, before a saturday tournament saturday saturday if it's a sunday tournament I'll send out a group text to everybody in the field letting them know their whole assignments, letting them know who they're playing with start times, and I did not do that for this one. Um bender bro yeah dad was tired, I was. I hung up. Mike uh, from beautiful golf courses, shout out beautiful golf courses yeah, shout out bgc in the house uh and uh, I just was.
Speaker 2:I was distracted a little bit, distracted a little bit. I was happy that I remembered the trophies. I was happy I remembered my shoes and socks Could have been way worse guys.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, it could have been way worse. But you know Rocky didn't show up. He said that Steven Jackson, who was also in the tournament, who also showed up at 7 am, told him it was Sunday, which in my text to him was Saturday. At 7 am told him it was sunday, which in my text to him was saturday, 7 am before the payson trip. So I know I didn't tell you it was eight o'clock in the car.
Speaker 1:Uh, and you did, you did for sure, no doubt about it, no doubt about it didn't show up.
Speaker 2:Jason vanderslithe had to withdraw, so we didn't have quite as many people as as intended, but still it was a great day out there.
Speaker 1:Um I thought it was 7 am in my head until you said 8 am in the car because I was like, oh, I get an extra hour dope. No, 8 am sick.
Speaker 2:No, anyway, well, anyways, that's my apology. What'd you learn?
Speaker 1:what did you learn, matt? What did?
Speaker 2:you learn I didn't learn shit, I learned you learned to text before the tournament?
Speaker 1:right, because you didn't do that.
Speaker 2:No I do that, this one I didn't, so it's not that I it's not that I learned it I just you gotta you, gotta do it hey, I can I can raise my hand when I fucking make a mistake, and I can admit it, for for you know all that I do for the league. I'm allowed to screw up every now and then absolutely.
Speaker 1:You do. You do a fantastic job. It's a lot of work, we understand that, but I would like those triple bogeys back, because that was a short par four well, it was a par five and I probably would have went.
Speaker 2:I mean we, we, I, I could have had a behind the scenes board meeting without you and and asked everybody I was.
Speaker 1:I think that's one of the things, though I was playing like I was dq'd so I was playing golf, so I didn't care so that
Speaker 2:played well, that's why I played well, and I think I was away with 12 high noons no, I did not drink 12 matt.
Speaker 1:I drink like five um no, but I think I think we can all take a lesson away from this 100.
Speaker 2:I agree it's not vick. If he wasn't, he was probably distracted. He's probably watching a show in the car the show he was watching said that the giveaway was at eight o'clock.
Speaker 1:That's what he heard no, you can ask Katie. When I came home from work on Friday, she said what time do you play tomorrow? I said 8 am, so I'm leaving at 6.30. It's before, whatnot I still, I would have made it for 8. I've never missed a tee time Never. Well, you can't say that anymore. I've been late twice. Okay, one was because matt and the other one was because I guess I went out there's and drank too much we don't have a website, we don't have an app, we don't have but, 60 other players that showed up on time none of that because, well they were, they all had the email.
Speaker 2:They all had the email because joe thought he heard something also also also he said maybe it's time for you to get off whatnot.
Speaker 1:And then he says check your emails, oh yeah, and then I didn't send it to him and then there's no. I said there's no fucking emails. And on the email that I missed that he sent to me after it said 7 am massive, massive, I never. I never got it. Anyway, we can all learn something from this. Me and Boyd were talking about it. Play like it doesn't matter and be free. Play golf free, loosen up.
Speaker 2:Yeah. I was fired up.
Speaker 1:Came out Exactly, and that's why I beat you even with two triples.
Speaker 2:No, no, no, no, no. I started on 16. I wish, I wish I could use that as an excuse, because I was fired up.
Speaker 2:But then I like, used it as, like you know, focus to you know get dialed in it. We started on 16, which is not the easiest golf hole. On that, on that course, I I hit a great tee shot. I hit a great approach. I hit a beautiful approach to the flag. I was 10 feet to the right of it, I hit what I thought was a perfect putt and everybody saw it going in the center of the cup. And then it just wiggled right at the end and rolled down that hill. Stupid, fucking pin placement, Ended up three-putting and I'm like Jesus Christ, you were hot bro, I was, I was like man, you know, but it had nothing to do with you.
Speaker 3:And then and then on the next, the next hole I, I see you and I'm like that's you did this to me.
Speaker 1:I said I thought it was 8 am and you go. Uh, meanwhile I show up on the next screen and everybody greets me and boyd's there. He's like hey, you made. You made it, bro, because I didn't tell you I was coming. I told Boyd I was coming and Boyd was like here's the hero, here's the hero of my round.
Speaker 1:We had a lot of fun though, bro, and I didn't care if I DQ. I got to play golf that day. I played free, and there's nothing better than playing golf free, Just in the rhythm, in the rhyme. Strap on your boots, it's hitting greens time.
Speaker 2:You know, yeah, but anyways it was a good event. It was warm Course. Yeah, you know it's August in Vegas. Vegas you're gonna get, you're gonna get very easy, very easy setup. The greens were not great. Um, I mean, they weren't bad, but some were fast, some were slow, some were bumpy, some were smooth. There was no rhyme, no rhythm.
Speaker 4:I I in placements were nightmare. I'll feel the rhythm feel the rhyme?
Speaker 2:I did. James treadway said he goes, I four putted from two feet. That was, that was my day, yeah, so I heard, I heard a lot of that. Oh, yeah, yeah. But okay, so now that the apology tour is over and joe did get the email, I did send it to him, so you can't say, I never sent it after yeah it was sent he said to me and I just texted him I said I accept your apology oh, when we were sitting.
Speaker 1:When we were sitting at the buffalo wild wings and I was like, no, you did not look and I'm like let me bring it up but I started looking through and I'm like he was in a tailspin. He went home and was digging.
Speaker 2:No, no, no, no, as soon as I saw Joe Herrera's name on there. I was like oh god damn it, that's what happened, fucked up.
Speaker 1:I told him I put my name on every email, even if I'm not playing. I've only missed like three, two, two or three tournaments in the what is it? Six, five years, 2,000. I missed one because of COVID. I still wanted to come but I said, matt, you got to check with everybody, make sure they're good with it. Mike Tice said I don't really want that. That was the early days. That was Muni right, it was Muni.
Speaker 2:The only other one I missed.
Speaker 1:The only other one I missed is because I was out of town. I only miss if I'm out of town.
Speaker 2:Yeah boyakasha yeah, vick said there was no consistency. You know, like I said, it's august, it's hot, it's tough one of those things but they they had some. They're doing work on 17 teeth. Uh, like the diet, so yeah each flight has in the vegas golf network.
Speaker 2:Each flight has their own uh closest to the pin. So everybody that competes for that hole plays from the same box, don't have any issues like that going on, and so I choose the holes based on the handicap. So whatever the course says is the hardest, part three, that's what the diamonds get, second hardest at spades and so on. So 17 from the tips is a tough hole because you got water right, there's a little bunker left, it's not the biggest green and uh, all the boxes were up and it was a 96 yard shot. And then all the boxes were up on 18 and it was a iron off the tee. You know, it's like people were driving the green, and so it did make it a little interesting. I did, I did get saved on 18. I hit my shot nice and fairway, I had 120 yard shot and I just bend a fucking nine iron, so horrible, and it's like skirting towards the water and I'm like stop, stop, stop.
Speaker 2:And it hit a pine cone and shot left up onto the fringe and so I was like nice, so that was my section out of the day yeah, and, and so I picked up that pine cone and carried with me the rest of the day until I put uh one in the water later, and then my knees started hurting. I was, I was gonna, I was like gonna stop. I'm like this, this is hurting too much, I I'm not gonna continue and hurt myself, but I powered through, power through yeah, it's a good time.
Speaker 1:It was a good time. Wish I have those two triples.
Speaker 2:But you know, always fun to always fun to play with the vegas homies yeah, uh, real quick, I do want to give some love to a friend of the show. Uh, please, let us golf. It's a another golf podcast similar to us four friends that play golf together. Uh, talk weekly. They just had their 50 second show. They've been doing it for a year, and so I just want to say congratulations to them. You know we have befriended a lot of podcasts that come out and they disappear really fast. It's not an easy thing to do, to have a commitment and to have guys repeatedly come on the show week after, week after week after week so
Speaker 1:uh yeah, yeah so, uh, while we're giving love, I want to give love to hesher hack. Uh, he is crowdsourcing an ace and it went down today. Someone got it, somebody got it, yeah somebody got one nice.
Speaker 2:Yeah, somebody got one Nice. I saw the one off the flag yeah, bad Lie.
Speaker 1:Golf and iRange Sports those are the two companies helping our homie Will Hesherhack crowdsource an ace? It happened today. If you guys film yourself on a par 3, film it, tag Hesherhackhrac uh, tag, bad lie, I range doing it and then you'll get entered into the giveaway. Um, yeah, but it happened.
Speaker 3:and also is it over every day.
Speaker 1:No, it's not over. No, you got another week, but we got one right as a community we got one, so uh, I followed him.
Speaker 1:I forget black dude and he, he hit it and it just went in. He hit it to like four inches and it went back in the hole. But, um, go get out there, film yourself on a par three tag hesher hack. Get involved with the uh the challenge and they're gonna do a giveaway next week. I think you have seven days left. But, um, and follow heshrac, because he's on day 255 255, I think, 65 maybe, uh, but he, he records daily, uh yeah, 243 shots 256 yeah, records his shots on a par 3 every day.
Speaker 1:He works on a course out in ohio, I believe. Maybe indiana, indiana, um yeah, but uh, go follow heshrac, that's the homie. And and go film yourself and tag heshrac yeah, please do so.
Speaker 2:That was fun. We did it in uh, one of the par threes in payson, and uh wasn't great, but jeremy was the only one wasn't great, but jeremy was the only one wasn't great, but jeremy was the only one who hit the green. Who hit the green, who hit the green. That was good. We should have done it on that was good.
Speaker 1:We should have done it on. That was good, we.
Speaker 2:Should have which, what, what? That would have been that one right, because I'm trying to think of the other ones that I don't know where I was at.
Speaker 2:Bad routing dude oh god, oh man, mike and I had some conversations about that. Anyway, uh, speaking of hitting flags, and uh, at cascada, stephen jackson uh, mr jackson was on a tear. I mean he hit it to. He almost hit like three flags on the par threes in a row, bing, bing, bing. It was like good grief he was dialed. I hit the flag on 13 from the fairway. Uh, fun, fun man, I love that course out there. So I said we'd be back, uh, this week with the report on cascada, because there's a lot of rumors going around that I really wish I could name the.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, you're. You all, all of yous all of you. Meet the teacher, meet the teacher, meet the teacher hey, doesn't matter, doesn matter, you're all of the creek.
Speaker 1:Hey, fuck you Theo.
Speaker 2:See you later, have fun.
Speaker 1:Have fun there. He is right there.
Speaker 2:I'm just letting him know how the creek they're up without a paddle. Mike for not coming out. Shout out.
Speaker 1:Mike. He said go be a dad. Joe. He said go be a dad, Shout out, mike.
Speaker 2:We'll just visit him in Wisconsin. Go be a dad, joe. He said go be a dad, shout out, mike, beautiful golf courses.
Speaker 4:We'll just visit him in.
Speaker 1:Wisconsin.
Speaker 2:Yeah, oh yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1:Not that I needed Mike to be like yeah, go be a dad, go be a dad, don't play this guy Bunch of losers, so I wasn't expecting much.
Speaker 2:I wasn't expecting much because we have heard and I had heard from quite a few people that the course was let go. It's gone, Not coming back. They're going to shut it down and build a hotel Heard crazy rumors about that place, but the course was in pretty good shape. I mean it was not like Cascada of old.
Speaker 1:Okay, I was going to say I was like are you going to say Because? I was going to say I was like are you going to say, cause that's what you told us.
Speaker 2:You said it's not Cascada. No, it's not Cascada, and there's a couple of reasons why. One, the water is gone. There's, there's no more water on the golf course. There's a couple of holes that have water, but the creek is gone in the, in the ponds or the club. The clubhouse is still there. You still have the, the, the Creek around, there's the pond, but there's no running water. There's. There's the one that comes into the lake, but that's it. They're like you know how, if you hit it over the corner, you can be in the water. That's, that's dry. Uh, 14, it's all dry on the right hand side and then the, the right of the fairway on 14, where you have those palm trees and that hillside. They stopped watering that. It's all brown. All the palm trees are dying. That's all going to go away. All the ponds on the rest of the court, they're gone. There was no running water coming down, one. So they're changing the name, then is what?
Speaker 1:you're saying because it means waterfall. Yeah, it means water, there's there's no waterfall.
Speaker 2:So the uh hole that you almost had the hole in one on, had the little waterfall that came out. The mountain had that nice little trickling effect. Uh, we were calling it the white noise, as you're standing there putting, because you hear the little stream going, that's that was the calm.
Speaker 1:It was the calm yeah, that's, that's gone.
Speaker 2:A lot of a lot of dry areas um, but they have tacos now so yeah, that might make up for most of it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, for sure, tacos are always good yeah, mike said.
Speaker 2:You know it's going to be mint very soon and you know the greens are ready for shave and roll. They'll be good. It's true, the greens rolled very consistent they were a little furry, a little, I mean not not furry, they weren't highland falls furry, but um it, uh, it's, it's gonna be okay.
Speaker 1:I I don't I kind of feel bummed now.
Speaker 2:I kind of like, I'm kind of sad well, if you got to experience it like in the last you know, four or five years going back before all these water restrictions came in, bruce said tacos over waterfall, yeah, it's gonna be cool yeah, yeah, and the tacos are free, so free tacos yes free tacos over waterfall, maybe, but that place, uh, that place was special and it it.
Speaker 1:It was called cascada, which means waterfall, and it's like maybe they, maybe they'll create a new identity, who knows?
Speaker 2:well, we heard rio seco is getting renamed. Um, and maybe you know, cascada gets renamed as well, because there certainly is no water. I mean you do have the water running through the clubhouse, which is you know it's renamed as well, because there certainly is no water. I mean you do have the water running through the clubhouse, which is, you know, it's as cool as it gets.
Speaker 1:They can't get rid of that. They cannot get rid of that. And hey, this is this.
Speaker 2:So Mike also played Rio Seco because he was in town and we couldn't play because we had the tournament. But after he played it he said Rio Seco is better than Cascada.
Speaker 1:I agree with that, because I think Rio Seco is a place you could play every day and I think Rio Seco is a or no Cascada is like a special occasion place, but I could play Rio every day, every day, every day, cascada is like ah, like every once in a while, shout out Bobby West. Shout out Bobby West, growing the greatest flower in South Dakota. That's for you, bob.
Speaker 3:Watertown. Watertown represent.
Speaker 2:So many fantastic, fantastic, unique holes at rio. It's true, it's great. Mike, I really wish you could have played it before the renovation so you could have played those greens beds in the house ah, beds chiming in the waterfalls are all in a pump system from the main lake water supply, I'm sure they shut them off for summer, but it will be back.
Speaker 1:Shout out beds, shout out yeah, shout out beds I know they jason daylight podcast shirt that just says shout out got out beds.
Speaker 2:Okay, I'll get on that uh, you homie I uh coming to you bobby, coming to you bobby, we can't see it, joe can't see it, bobby.
Speaker 1:We mean bobby talked earlier, oh oh, here I'll I'll.
Speaker 2:I'll throw this up on the stage. Joe was sharing this earlier he's telling he's selling vaginas on whatnot green ones no alien, alien genes alien vagina on whatnot, just in case you're curious.
Speaker 1:No, these are sick, bro, I love them. I don't think a lot of people realize. I didn't even know until I saw somebody selling on whatnot. He's like this is like an old school Scotty ball marker and it comes. In this case I was like, oh shit, that's dope. I remember those coin purse things coin purse, that's what it was called, I mean and a lot of the casinos used to give them out, hand them out for free and I said he's gonna need his bleached before sending it please I'm gonna put.
Speaker 1:I'm gonna put spam and I'm gonna put a piece of spam in here for you. Get back to the islands, bro. Help them fix those tee boxes at the Jurassic Park course. No, but they're cool man.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's a good little. I'm trying.
Speaker 1:You got no light, I can see it, I can see it right now, I like it. Looks good. It's a play on Scototty cameron.
Speaker 2:There you go here, my hand's not very steady, that's much better oh, hang on, there we go, there we go grounds crew.
Speaker 1:Okay, I sold like that looks awesome. I made you sell, yeah you can put your ball marker in there or your weed. If you want, put your weed in there, you put it on your key chain and you throw your roaches in here. Bro, it's on your keys, boom.
Speaker 4:Bob's won't fit in there.
Speaker 3:Bob doesn't believe in roaches.
Speaker 4:Bob needs a duffel bag.
Speaker 2:Pasta. He uses pasta, bob. I told you, bro. Hey Bob.
Speaker 1:Send me your favorite hat Cotton style, cotton hat. And then you send me that Send me your favorite hat. I'll press one of these on there. I'll send you one of these. I'll send you a banner. I'll send you whatever.
Speaker 3:Bobby, send me a half ounce.
Speaker 1:Yeah, just tuck it in the hat, just tuck it in the hat, tuck it in the hat, just tuck it in the hat. Oh seriously, bob, send, send me the hat. That's cotton, because it doesn't stick to nylon very well, I'll press it for you, get you.
Speaker 2:One says it reminds me old school. Snap close, cigarette pouch first. My mom used to have back in the night, yep exactly bro pull the palm alls out, pull the palm alls out.
Speaker 1:Chase and daylight podcast live every tuesday the virginia slims, virginia slims yeah, chasing.
Speaker 2:Daylight Podcast live every Tuesday the Virginia Slims.
Speaker 1:Virginia Slims. You'd have to cut him in half, virginia Slims 120.
Speaker 2:Let's give Paul.
Speaker 1:McHenry. Hey, caddy Bogey, now Shout out my homie, joe, let's go.
Speaker 2:My first time. That's the homie Caddy Bogey. And now Shout out my homie, joe, let's go my first time.
Speaker 1:That's the homie Caddy Bogey. He's a caddy out in New Jersey.
Speaker 2:The Dan Nail to Virginia Slam 120s.
Speaker 1:You'd probably have to cut those in half, though Fucking that long.
Speaker 2:Cut those in half. Oh, the filters wouldn't fit in there.
Speaker 1:No, yeah.
Speaker 2:No, I think they're dope.
Speaker 1:I love them.
Speaker 2:Dan didn't win the VGN tournament Shocker, so shout out. Paul Mushkin won in the Diamonds, justin Cameron won in the Spades, chris Garf won in the Hearts and James Lewis won in the Cl in the club. So congrats to all those guys. The standings have all been updated. Uh, joe, I don't know if you're aware of this, but we have a website that you can go to to get all the information about. I was aware when I was brushing my teeth man all right, yeah, that's where I went um.
Speaker 1:Let's see golf genius win cascada.
Speaker 2:So, uh, so don't, don't fear Cascada right now. Don't fear it it's. It's going through a transitional phase right now, where they're learning how to deal with water and what they need to do to get it green in the right areas. The course from T to green will be excellent. So you know, come the fall, it's going to be a great place.
Speaker 1:Hey, that that's one of those things that I think, this thing, which is fantastic. Grounds crew right, you're part of the grounds crew every time you play golf. Fix your ball, marks your divots, fill your divots, rake your bunkers, you are part of the grounds crew. And and if you rock the hitting greens, grounds crews pouch. You're part of the grounds crew. Everybody that plays golf. You look out for the people behind you every time. All right, make the golf court better than Are you going to?
Speaker 2:keep ball markers multiple in that and in your bag, or are you just going to keep one ball marker in it and in your pocket for the round?
Speaker 1:Depends on your ball markers. I would put it. I'm asking you, it depends on how many ball markers I have in my bag. But the thing is is like I put I reach in my pocket that has my ball markers, and then I throw t's in there and I throw a range finder in there and it's like I get stabbed with my you know, a t right between my fingernail, my finger. So if I know that my ball markers are in this I can grab in, try and find this and then maybe I'll be safe from like T pinches between my nails. But the main thing is when you rock this joint you're part of the grounds crew, right? You got to fix your ball marks, fill your divots, make your pumpers, sending you sponsored fees for running whatnot?
Speaker 1:ads no, no, no. We need to send this out to people to pay us sponsorship fees. We need to get out there, tell courses like we're. We're repping for you because you need to leave the golf course better than you found it. I don't care if this goes for a dollar or 20 or 30. Be a good golfer, be a good fellow player, be a good fellow player and take care of the fucking golf course. That's what that shit is. Right there, fix your damn ball marks okay what was that?
Speaker 1:seriously, that's probably you, bro. They're watching the aces game. No aces game tonight.
Speaker 2:Um, alright, so, jeremy, jeremy, jeremy, you just switched to a Garson.
Speaker 4:I did one, one round.
Speaker 2:One round. Yes, you have one round with it. What's your thoughts? I bring this up because Garson we're still working out all the kinks to get some Garson information out to everybody on a weekly basis. So please, jeremy, enlighten how to go. What's your thoughts? Do you think it's going to stick around?
Speaker 4:I think it will stick around. The more I used it, the more comfortable I got with it. I would like to explore the other options, but I like it. I like it.
Speaker 2:Dan, what are you laughing at? You don't believe him, do you no?
Speaker 3:not for one second. Not for one second Is it already off. I need to use it more.
Speaker 4:No, it's not off.
Speaker 2:It's not off Is there, another putter in your bag already.
Speaker 4:No, there's not, but I've been. You know, funny thing is, matt, I was looking at the ZT Spider out of sheer curiosity.
Speaker 1:Because you guys really talked it up on saturday. Those that have used joe might be soon. No joe, joe will never go to that because the head cover is too big. I liked it, I liked, I did like it. I think I think it was. I really do think it was better than the lab. I think the spider zt was really good. It was super bouncy off the face, like I felt like the ball was going bounce bounce, bounce bounce, but it looked really good. I think it did look really good.
Speaker 2:I would play that over the lab for sure this this guy right here says do it has had more putters in the last five months than anybody I've ever met in my than anybody I've ever met in my than anybody I've ever met in my life, and that's speaking from me, my life, and that's speaking from me, my life, and that's speaking from me, my perspective, perspective, perspective, yeah, always.
Speaker 1:He has a new putter every yeah, always.
Speaker 2:He has a new putter is awesome, best putter I've ever played not gonna go anything else. Two days later I did something yeah, no, I.
Speaker 1:I do think the spider zt is probably the best zero torque putter I've seen. I think it looked really good. It was really bouncy off the face. It felt good even though it was bouncy. But the even roll like backwards plumber's neck is garbage. I don't want to look down at a lab personally. If it works for you, it works for you. But no, the Spider ZT looks very good at a dress and it looks the best to me out of the ones that I've seen.
Speaker 2:But it bounces the ball bounces off the face.
Speaker 1:I feel like it jumps. I feel like it goes jumps, which I'm not a fan of.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's funny, at Cascada Steven Jackson had his out there and and trey rolled one putt and it was like a 12 foot bender and he drained it and we're like oh, oh, but uh, that, that face that they have on that I I've had a couple tailor-made with that phase. I have that gt max, that it. It's a great feeling face I did for me. It's the onset. I just can't have that much putter in front of the shaft.
Speaker 2:It's, it's just not it's just not for me, but you know it, it's for you, it's for you great this is funny, mike said uh, all ears on putter talk. I'll hang up the keyboard and listen. Matt, saw my putter looks like it got ran over by beverage cart. Yeah, we need to do a, uh go fund me plan.
Speaker 4:What is he playing?
Speaker 2:an old scotty or it's not old. He's playing a scotty that looks old because he doesn't use a head cover and and it looks ran over by the milkman in wisconsin it. It has been left on the road or falling out the cart or on the truck on the way home. Several times it is.
Speaker 3:It is, it's atrocious, that's on the chalkboard to jeremy, not cut.
Speaker 4:Yeah, it is you're exactly who I was bitching about. Looking at all those putters at second swing, yeah, yeah that would have been on.
Speaker 2:Uh, it would have been in the outdoor bin at mike.
Speaker 3:You need a scotty. I got you, bro, I got. I got three of them for sale we.
Speaker 2:We need to do a GoFundMe for him.
Speaker 1:I've never owned a Scotty. I got three. Now Shit what the fuck's going on.
Speaker 4:Mike, send us a picture of your putter. I got to see it.
Speaker 2:Oh.
Speaker 4:I should have taken a picture of it.
Speaker 1:Text it, Mike, so we can throw it up on the show Right now.
Speaker 4:It's not good, it's not good yeah, right now it's not good.
Speaker 1:It's not good. Yeah, bruce said he's digging the oz compared to my old school newport so far, but definitely different. Looking at a dress yeah, that's my whole thing hey, and that's we've.
Speaker 2:We've said this forever if it works for you, roll that shit if, if it gives you confidence. Roll that shit um, it's, it's.
Speaker 1:It's not for everybody, you know, and uh yeah isn't it funny how we always come back to putting, like most of the time.
Speaker 2:We always come back to putting because it's so unique and it's so like personal yep and I I putted so good at cascott I had 25 or 26 putts, was making everything and you know I've really been working on it really hard and uh, then to go out and just fucking play terrible. But you know, I, I, I, I'm, I'm gonna not look down on it as a performance. Just those greens weren't great and you know we just played a week a paw and Chaparral pines and the rim and cascada, and then I go to hide and fall. Expectations on a great putting performance were not in the cards and that's that's where I make up for a lot of my ills on hitting greens. It's my short game and my putting is what saves me Hitting greens.
Speaker 2:And, yeah, that didn't come to fruition.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Boy. He's texting me right now. Oh, what's he saying.
Speaker 1:I don't know. I'm trying to figure it out, boyd yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 4:I don't think I could ever get him out. I've looked at him, I've really thought about him, but just a blade player, I just can't.
Speaker 2:I'll just a Blade player. I just can't, I'll just stick with that. I sent Dave a message today asking him if he's still doing these, because if he is still doing them or can do them, then I'm going to see if he can do one of these for me, because it is such a good looking. What is that? That's a Goodwood.
Speaker 3:MX prototype.
Speaker 1:Goodwood is fire.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I just absolutely love the look of that thing. I like the square flange Wings look good. The face is sick on this thing too, I do think I've been digging the good wood lately.
Speaker 1:I might have to just keep that in the bag.
Speaker 2:Is that what you rolled at Highland?
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh shit. Maybe I was just like I've been doing push-ups and maybe the heavier putter you're feeling better to me. Yeah, I mean because my strokes gain. Shout out roars is uh is very light, but I I mean when we were in arizona the that good would was uh helping it was good you were putting nice with it, yeah. So that's the problem. When having you, you have so many putters, it's's like which one do I bring Hitting?
Speaker 2:greens.
Speaker 1:Matt's got the Kool-Aid. Matt's got the Kool-Aid. Drinking the Kool-Aid. Matt's drinking the Kool-Aid.
Speaker 2:Hitting greens.
Speaker 1:Drinking the Kool-Aid this side, matt's drinking the Kool-Aid. Come check out Hitting Greens Friday nights Home. What now?
Speaker 2:Get. I'm not gonna be drinking beer in greece friday nights. Get yourself one of these 10 cent off. Get yourself one of these 10 cent off. Get yourself one of these 10 cent off cards that's funny this gotta get off the high noons and this gotta get off the high noons and this gotta get off the high noons and start drinking real beer. You won't need start drinking real beer. You won't need start drinking real beer. You won't need to do so many push-ups when lifting to do so many push-ups when lifting heavier beer.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's dude, you have to be doing sit-ups after he gets gut belly yeah, bruce, uh yeah, if you want that beer. If you listen to the shows back in the day, I was a jumbled dry, hopped, hazy kind of guy and uh yeah, I'm trying to drop, drop the bees, but no, I love me, I love myself. A double dry, hopped, double.
Speaker 2:Ipa dark, darky dark, you know, bitter as fuck, but uh no yeah, that's, if we, we ever get over to, uh, ireland, I'm, you know, I'm gonna have to have a guinness, I'm just gonna have to, just just gonna have to, gonna have to have some irish whiskey, and so, yeah, if, if that happens, we'll see, we'll see, you'll be fine, I'll have a, I'll have a it will happen.
Speaker 1:It will have a guinness zero. I doubt guinness is ever making a zero beer oh, they have some well, it's not as good then, oh no not the same yeah, not the same.
Speaker 2:So I I really don't have much else to chat about this evening, is there? Is there something that you guys want to do? You know what we can do? Uh, we can always go to this all in or fold amateur.
Speaker 4:We need to do a recap.
Speaker 2:Yeah, band and amateur okay, the band and amateur, how much it. Well, I know joe said he hadn't didn't watch any of it I watched some of it.
Speaker 1:You might watch a ton my. My tv is overtaken by spongebob danny go and uh, everything I watch I'm like on my phone.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you got a you got a computer right here in your hand.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's like okay, bandit looks great on my screen.
Speaker 4:Yeah, it definitely made me reminisce. A year ago we were there.
Speaker 2:I loved all the stories about everything.
Speaker 1:Doesn't that feel like a long time ago though?
Speaker 2:It does. It feels like a really long time ago.
Speaker 4:It also feels like it was just yesterday.
Speaker 3:I would say it feels like it was just yesterday.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:That air. You can smell that air right now.
Speaker 3:It's so good Blood blisters.
Speaker 1:You did. Did you ever tell that story on the podcast? You ever tell that story on the podcast? Did you tell that story?
Speaker 2:I'm sure you had to. I don't know, I don't remember that.
Speaker 1:I don't remember that. I mean, if you guys seen me on, you know on there. I won't say it again, just so Matt doesn't make fun of me. But you know I always top Bandon B and is the greatest place in the world and hopefully you got to see it on TV and that place is a part of me, it's a part of all of us and if you go it'll be a part of you. It's the fifth hole, my favorite place in the entire world.
Speaker 2:I'm glad they got to see that on TV because it doesn't do it any justice, even on TV, not at all you can say that about every hole out there, but that fifth hole, when you're standing on that tee box, it's just mesmerizing. Yeah, I said, let's go back.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I bet Bob's picture right there like Bob looks like he's just got shaggy-ass hair right now. He's just looking like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.
Speaker 3:This is when he was a realtor For sure.
Speaker 2:We need to update his picture.
Speaker 3:Bob's hair is longer for sure.
Speaker 2:Yeah, fix your picture, bob. He ain't fooling anybody, he ain't fooling anything. Yeah, so Bannon looked good. They did a good job with it. Usga always does an amazing job. I mean you got to get over the get your gin commercials and the love for the USGA, but I mean it's one of their big events, so it was a great tournament. A lot of fun golf. Love seeing the golf course the men's amateur now is taking taking place at olympic, uh, olympic club in san francisco. You're gonna see some more amazing golf there.
Speaker 2:There's a couple unlb kids that are in it. Um so, oh, lights out, jeremy bills. Yep, lights out, hey them bills. Um so more good golf there. Uh, the pga tour this week, the the bmw second round of the playoffs, dave's valley yeah, that place looks awesome oh my goodness looks incredible. Harry made it, so he's in all the um elevated events next year, so congratulations to him for that, on a great year. How about those putting stats? Was that not insane?
Speaker 2:Insane dude, and I need to let me bring that up so everybody can see it, Cause I think I still have the the file here.
Speaker 1:And that video that you guys sent, where they're. They're reworking that green like, and that definitely makes it harder, bro, the three tiered green. That was sick yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, look at this a harder bro the three-tiered green that was sick.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, look at this let me uh yeah, stroke game putting. Total putting, putting, average, overall putting, average birdie or better conversion percentage. Putts per round. Putts per round round one, all one all one number one on pga tour. Yeah, on the PGA.
Speaker 2:Tour. Yeah, that's this year. To date stats that was up to this event. So I mean, good, god, insane, the guy is putting it so good. It's exciting for him. I hope he has a great tournament and can get to Eastlake. Did you see I?
Speaker 1:would love to see Harry at Eastlake. I didn't even think about it. I'm like, yeah, did you see? I would love to see Harriet East Lake. I didn't even think about it.
Speaker 2:Did you see the Country Club collection Bang and Ricky Fowler?
Speaker 4:Yep. Because he got sponsors exemptions to every elevator.
Speaker 2:He got six sponsors exemptions into the elevated events, so an elevated event you have to get more points yeah, you have to qualify for them, you know they're. You have to be certain rankings, you have to, uh, have certain status from the year before to get into them. That's what makes them. You know more elevated you gotta earn your way into them and he got six sponsors exemptions and because of those points that he earned in those six events because they're limited field, no-cut events he got into the BMW yeah.
Speaker 1:I will say though, like Ricky has played pretty good Big Dick. Rick. He's played pretty good this year In those elevated events.
Speaker 2:Did you look at his stats on the non-elevated events?
Speaker 1:Not good. He's just played better than he has in the past few years, for sure.
Speaker 2:In the elevated events that he got a sponsor's exemption into, Take advantage of your situation. But it's fucked up.
Speaker 4:The whole argument was is it a popularity contest to get into the fedex or is it based on play? And that was the whole argument.
Speaker 2:And I don't think he was attacking ricky fowler, it's just he was an example, him and I think chris kirk was who he was using yeah, because chris kirk didn't get in and chris kirk didn't have any of the elevated events to play in to try, and so he played the whole season trying to get there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know Well, I mean Rick is just drink a Corona's and just fully insured by state farm sitting at his house. You know, just fully insured. But he did play well this year in the elevated event. I'm going to keep saying that because he did not play well in the other events no, but he, he, he's been slack in the past few years, though like he hasn't played very well in anything the past few years, so he did elevate his game in the elevated events. Yes, do you think?
Speaker 1:because those events he's also fully insured by state farm.
Speaker 4:True do you think that those tournaments should have? I mean, obviously the sponsors can do whatever they want. It's their money, whatever they can do whatever but if those tournaments are truly based on earning a spot, do you think it's right that they have sponsor exemptions?
Speaker 2:I don't. I, I think if you get a sponsored exemption into one of those events that you didn't qualify for, you can take the money, but you don't get fedex cut points. No, no fedex cut points if you're a sponsor's exemption okay, you can play for some money. Great, pad your, pad your wallet, get your fame. Get on tv, make some money. But you're not going to get fedex cup points for that. Absolutely not, no way so like it.
Speaker 2:So would you think, if harry hall got a sponsor's exemption points and he won, he gets no points if you didn't earn your way into an elevated event by the categories that they have put in place and you get a sponsor's exemption and you win. You win the money, you don't get any points.
Speaker 4:That's okay, I think I agree with that.
Speaker 2:I think that's a way to fix it. I could see that. I could see that, you know. Oh my God, mike just sent me a picture of this thing, yeah.
Speaker 1:Let's see.
Speaker 4:Oh boy, you know. Oh my god, mike just sent me a picture of this thing. Yeah, let's see. Oh boy putter. Uh, let me get ready.
Speaker 1:Yeah, get it, get it out there uh, yeah, that's the whole thing with sponsors. Exceptions are just crazy in its own right.
Speaker 2:You know it's I mean, I get them and and you know they need to have them and it's you know.
Speaker 1:It is what it is like you know, and the sponsors pay a shit ton of money and they they want to see their player do well, that you know, and they're supporting the athletes or like maybe their star, and yeah, and that's just money in its own right. Right, like it's. It's just money moving hands at that point.
Speaker 2:So I don't know, I I don't know. I just think it's for how they put it in place. Yeah, look at, look at this thing, look at this gym oh my goodness gracious mike
Speaker 3:what are you doing? Yeah, right, wow, wow let me show you the one of the face.
Speaker 4:Hang on, Mike what are you?
Speaker 2:doing yeah, right, wow, let me show you the one at the face. I can't unsee that, mike.
Speaker 1:Throw some scotch tape on that thing.
Speaker 2:That's worth about $20.
Speaker 1:Bruce, that thing is mint Mint tea, oops.
Speaker 2:Yeah, look at that okay joe, if you were listening now and whatnot, what would your description be, we're gonna start with a quarter.
Speaker 1:Well, it would for sure go at a dollar, no questions asked, and I would describe it as a slightly charred bean and cheese burrito.
Speaker 2:Cleany boy, it's not a clean boy.
Speaker 1:No, it's not a clean boy. It's a slightly charred bean and cheese burrito and the beans are falling out the back end and the cheese is spooting out this side.
Speaker 2:How do you get that much wear on the top of a pie?
Speaker 3:The beans are burnt, the cheese is stale yeah.
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh, Bruce, I want to say it so bad, but I can't. I can't say that it's the Nico special, it's the Nico special.
Speaker 3:I'll say it I'm not on the channel.
Speaker 2:Is that the putter? It's totally. Season Scotty Season Scotty Used and abused. Wow, so we need to start a GoFundMe for Mike.
Speaker 3:And make sure the new one has a head cover.
Speaker 1:Mike, I got you.
Speaker 3:I got the same putter. It's the same putter.
Speaker 1:It's the beat the shit. Bean and cheese Beat the shit. Bean and cheese, it'll work. Bean and cheese It'll work. Bean and cheese always fills you up. Might make some putts. Bean and cheese will always do you right. It's got protein, make putts, but it's beat the shit. There you go. It's the beat the shit. Bean and cheese.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that wouldn't fetch a lot of funds on the whatnot BGC beater.
Speaker 4:BGC beater, bgc Beater, bgc Beater. That's exactly what it is.
Speaker 1:I got a new one of those coming soon.
Speaker 2:Only way to get that much back. Chatter has to be short and always clanks the other clubs.
Speaker 4:You put that in your wedge slot, don't you, Mike? Is that my?
Speaker 2:man Davy, davy, djj.
Speaker 1:Is he doozin' it? Wow, keep going.
Speaker 2:I got nothing else. I got nothing else. It's slow week. We got the golf coming up Caves.
Speaker 1:Valley is this week.
Speaker 2:Yep, yep. And then Eastlake is the week after. After this week, the top six get locked for the Ryder Cup.
Speaker 4:Yeah, jj Spahn got in right.
Speaker 2:Yep, yep, he's in with his performance.
Speaker 1:I mean, the Tommy downfall really kind of upset me. It's like it's fucking time, dude Tom, it's fucking time to do it, dude.
Speaker 2:Rosie was clutched. I mean that shot on 18 that almost went in the water. And then he drains the big putt like JJ Spahn does and nukes. I mean, did you see how many drivers he's played the past two years? Yeah, yeah, he's had the past two years. Yeah yeah, he's had two different title lists. He's had the TaylorMade and he played the TaylorMade during TGL and then this was an AI Smoke triple diamond that he won with this week, guy uses a lot of different heads.
Speaker 4:Yep and the Mira MC502s are on sale right now. 15 off.
Speaker 2:Oh because, he won yep well done, well done. Social media now, yeah, it's, it's gonna start taking him over he's a fucking win dude. It was his week two, he's like he said he's won on the dp tour.
Speaker 1:Right, it's not like he's oh yeah, yeah, he just hasn't won a tour yeah my, my, uh. Step uncle was like texting me sunday. He's like I really hope scheffler doesn't win. He doesn't watch golf. He's like I really hope scheffler doesn't win. I want to see a playoff between fleetwood and spawn. And who else was it? Who else?
Speaker 4:was in the race rosie.
Speaker 1:He's like I want to see a playoff between them. I hope that guy scotty sheffler doesn't win. It's so funny, like when I mean I wasn't around when tiger was winning, but I guarantee you I'd like to hate it like I don't want to see tiger win again. I don't want to see Tiger win again. I don't want to see Tiger win again.
Speaker 4:Everybody wanted to see Tiger win. Everyone knew and wanted.
Speaker 3:I think he might have been different. Fleetwood is going to get into the Hall of Fame just on top threes alone.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 3:He's going to have 200 top threes and zero fucking wins by the end of his career.
Speaker 1:He's so close, though, too, man. He just going to have 200 top threes and zero fucking wins by the end of his career. He's so close, though, too, man, he just can't close. He's so close.
Speaker 2:He just can't do it. Everybody wanted to see Tiger Woods win. I agree with that 100%. That's why you watched. That's why you watched Tiger Woods.
Speaker 1:Well, that's it. Do you think it's different nowadays? Because do you want to see Scotty win when he's in the hunt? Is it different now? I think Tiger Woods was exciting and I think Scotty is boring.
Speaker 3:I was going to say it's different the sportsmanship is different when you watch those two.
Speaker 3:He is still the needle, like a lot of people say, like just just watching him for that, for that decade, the shit he would do, the shots he would pull off the fist pumps, the, the crowds. You know nobody, nobody's gonna do that again. You know, and nobody did it, except for tiger, since, like palmer and fucking nicholas. So it's just, it's just rare when you get those players like that that come around, that just woke up a whole new energy in the game yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3:And I mean you wouldn't have a scotty without tiger, you know so yeah, I think he was exciting oh, totally, totally, joe, and I wish I was boring I wish you would have got to see him win a little bit more joe, because it was. It was fucking a great time to be allowed to watch a tiger, I cried, I literally cried.
Speaker 1:When he won the masters in 2019, I was on the edge of my couch crying you know, I didn't even see him before that like much. I didn't see him win until 2019 and I was literally fucking crying. I'm not ashamed to say that, but yeah, we know it was magic, you know yeah but scotty's fucking boring 97 or 2008, was was fucking the best time for golf tiger
Speaker 2:punk wanted him to shit in the field.
Speaker 1:Win by 15 scotty is nice but boring.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's boring tiger never would have said winning wasn't fulfilling. Yeah that's true, yes that is yeah, I, that's why he was there. Yeah, I love it. I didn't. I never played in a tournament.
Speaker 1:I didn't think I was going to win the curtis luck and tiger interview is the greatest video in the world and Tiger interview is the greatest fucking video in the world. Curtis Strange, curtis Strange, curtis Strange, curtis Strange, yeah.
Speaker 3:The, you'll Learn one.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4:That was the greatest video ever recorded, the one after, where he apologized.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4:Yeah, yeah, crazy man. I mean almost a quarter of the tournaments he played and he won.
Speaker 2:Yeah, crazy I I want to see scotty have like two more years of this type of golf that he's been playing, where he starts getting up into the bigger numbers, that really starts to garner people's attention. I mean because right now he's. He's doing it because you know or not, because he's doing it and it's cool, but he's still very young in the grand scheme of golf career. Um, but he's doing some great things. You know, the same thing happened with spieth and and these guys that come out early, win early, win majors early. But he's winning and playing some incredible golf right now.
Speaker 1:I want to see it go on for a couple more years just to see this era of golf and the golf world how they react to somebody playing at that level for that long do you think he's in a mind state where he's like trying to fake himself out where it doesn't really matter and he's trying to not to freak himself out, like for me, like, uh, last weekend, where you didn't send me the emails and I was like just playing free. You know what I mean? Do you think he's just like?
Speaker 2:all right. Enough of that from that guy do you think he's in a?
Speaker 1:he's in a mindset where he's like I just want to feel, like it doesn't matter and he can just play free, like I don't know. Maybe it's like he's faking himself out because he loves the game, like no question, right, he loves the history, he's a golfer. Do you think he might be mentally, physically, emotionally, trying to fake himself out that this shit doesn't matter in the long run, to be the best player.
Speaker 2:No, I think he is who he is who we see is who we what we see. He's just, he's very consistent. I mean, if he could putt, if he had Harry Hall putting stats, he would be, nobody would touch him.
Speaker 1:I mean, I think, well, the thing is is like he, he definitely loves golf, right. And then maybe he's gotten to a point where he's like nothing else really matters. I've accomplished what I wanted to, and maybe he's like you know, I'll play. And then he's he's playing free, he's playing freely, there's no question about that.
Speaker 3:He's playing his game, he's playing free I think with scotty it's uh, it's just different. It's just a different mentality. I think he knows he's the best and he knows he can win at any time. But with tiger it was I know I'm gonna I'm gonna win and I'm gonna win every single time. I'm gonna win every fucking event. I'm gonna win everything With Scotty. He's just more like, yeah, it's cool if I win, but I still want to be a good dad.
Speaker 2:This week I got it. If I don't, I don't.
Speaker 3:Yeah, he's just in a different mindset than Tiger. Tiger wanted to crush you and demoralize you and wanted to beat you so badly that you would never fucking pick up a golf club again. And Scott is more like you know. Hey, cool, you know I won. Let's go have a barbecue and a beer afterwards. It's just different. Yeah, just tiger just had that killer mentality. And I mean Scotty is a killer. I mean he he plays well, his game says it, but you just don't see that out of Scotty. Yeah, you know.
Speaker 2:The different eras too. Too, like you think of basketball back in the the 80s and 90s, you know those guys weren't friends. You know they didn't hang out.
Speaker 4:They didn't do podcasts together.
Speaker 3:They detroit pissed it fucking and I'll say bad boy pissed. Yeah, yeah, hell yeah you know you.
Speaker 2:You went out there, you wanted to beat their ass every single time. Maybe that type of mentality is what grew Jordan to be great.
Speaker 1:Everyone's fucking soft nowadays is what you're saying.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's pretty soft.
Speaker 1:It's pretty true, it's pretty soft.
Speaker 2:I think the harshest thing we've seen in golf is when brooks went oh when, when bryson walked by I mean that's like rory rory with jolicova, where they were like at the oh yeah, that was. Yeah, that was good, that was good, but you just don't, you just don't see that that's rider cup and rider cups coming up.
Speaker 1:Yeah, beth pays black, which I've played. Guys.
Speaker 2:If you guys didn't know that, that's Ryder Cup and Ryder Cup's coming up Beth Page Black, which I've played, guys, if you guys didn't know. What You've played Beth Page. Yes, hey, dan. I don't want to bring up a sore subject, but this Nebraska trip is getting ridiculous, yeah.
Speaker 3:I don't know anything about it.
Speaker 2:I know I'm sorry. Did you not get the email? Yeah, he definitely did not.
Speaker 3:Cliff left me off the email list on that one oh, oh, man, yeah, so we've added.
Speaker 1:Go figure, joe's played bath. It's an ongoing joke, bruce.
Speaker 2:We've added Tatanka, so we're playing Tatanka now.
Speaker 1:I wish you were coming, Dan, so badly.
Speaker 3:We added Dakota. You guys need to. There's like two other courses. You need to head on there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, dakota Dunes, we're playing that. We're going to try and go across the border.
Speaker 1:Shut out. Beds hopefully, beds, hopefully beds are you still here?
Speaker 2:we're. We're gonna try to go across the border into iowa saturday morning and play something in iowa to get that state checked off, and then, uh yeah, prairie club. Oh man, it's gonna be a good one I so wish you were there so wish you were. Yeah, so wish you were there Golfing and driving, yeah, a lot of driving.
Speaker 1:We need to find out where. Rodeo Dunes is, and we need to roll up to that fucking gate.
Speaker 2:I know where it is. We're going to drive right by it.
Speaker 1:Okay, let's roll up to that gate. I need a picture. I'm going to frame it To where.
Speaker 2:Rodeo dunes. It's joe you you need to listen to. Uh, please let us golf this last episode that I was just talking about. They did a whole segment on should you wear logo appareled from a course that you haven't been to oh shit yeah, I would say no, you need to listen to that. Yeah, it was, it was it was it was it was pretty good, though. Is there any?
Speaker 4:exceptions Joe.
Speaker 1:Uh, my only exceptions personally with logos that I wear is the master's logo, cause I have some polos during master's week. That's my only exception. What?
Speaker 2:about Ryder cup. Not, not Beth page Cause you've been there, but like I, I have played beth page black. Yes, I know but if the writer cup was at a place you haven't played, would you wear a writer cup with the logo? Uh me personally.
Speaker 1:No, it's not my style. It's not my style. Um, I would, but it's not my style. You know I would, but it's not my style. You know I would, but it's not my style. I mean, I have, like, I mean I can just grab shit right here, like I have searched for this logo for so long, also on like Thrifty's show. I've asked him so many times.
Speaker 3:And.
Speaker 1:I have a Burning Tree logo and if I ever wear this, it's only going to be in my house, or if I've played it. Okay, I have a… In my house. Yeah, maybe I'll put this on after the shower. I have this. Okay, shout out. Tradition Golf. Okay, I have that. Man we can't see it. It's not….
Speaker 4:Pine Valley.
Speaker 1:Pine. That man, it's not, it's pine valley, pine valley. I will wear this in my house or when I play it. I'm not wearing this to a golf course. I don't want to be asked any questions. I don't want to be that guy that we see when we're when we're going to seriously, when when we're on a golf trip.
Speaker 3:No, we're laughing at this. Check that out. But it's like Just a Pine Valley polo. Hold on, let me get my.
Speaker 1:Pine Valley polo. I'm going to put that. I'm going to put that on the back.
Speaker 3:Hang on, babe, let me get these candles To put my polo on.
Speaker 2:When we were at?
Speaker 1:where were we at? Where were we at? Where were we at?
Speaker 1:but we saw like we saw like uh, abandon, abandon, you know no no, I know you do see him all the time, but we were in an airport, oh, I, I think I might have been an airport, but I saw someone wearing something. And uh, he was wearing like something, you know, I don't know what it was, whatever it was, and I was like, do I go up and ask him? And if I go ask him, is he telling me the truth? I'm not gonna lie to you, right, if I'm wearing it, if I'm wearing something, and you ask me if I've played there, like I hope to be able to tell you about hole 13, 14, 15 and how great the experience was. I don't want to be the guy where you ask, oh, you've been to pine valley, I've been there too, hole one, hole two. I'm like, oh no, I've seen it, I've seen it on, uh, we don't talk about it anymore you know bad experience, but I like the shirt.
Speaker 1:I don't talk about it no, no, thank you, I'm not being that guy. I want to tell you about my experience at that place. If you come up to me and you ask me if I've played burning tree, I want to be like, yes, it was sick, have you ever been? And then, if they're like yes, like oh, how sick was this? If they're like, no, I haven't been, oh, you gotta get there. You know, I'm not, I'm not gonna fake it I had.
Speaker 2:I was wearing my uh, my breakfast ball shirt that I made. That looks like the warning sign at beth page. It says warning. It's the sign, except all the words are different and they were like have you played beth page? No, I, I was in the grocery store. I was in the grocery store the other day and some guy stopped and he was his older guy and he's walking and he stops and he looks at my shirt and he goes, gives me the thumbs up and I was like yeah, you can't read this, so you have no idea what you just gave me a thumbs up for, but I have a really good idea that you've played beth page yeah, no, that's my thing, man.
Speaker 1:I want to like, I want to share those, those experience with people. You know, like I don't want to just be out there and be asked a question and be able to say like, no, but I got it from my friend, you know, I want to be like yes, what did you think of hole three? What did you think of 18?
Speaker 4:that's the cool thing about wearing that kind of stuff is like it starts those conversations. It does. Yes, yeah, absolutely true, absolutely. Band and dunes hat a few times getting gas. Some guy came up to me getting gas, asked me about band of dunes.
Speaker 1:It's like yeah, going to the uh the, something to cut out your skin because of uh the sun you know the, the surgeon he was going to band the next week.
Speaker 2:Yes, that's what's cool man is the connector the guy that, the um dr freeman, that, or, yeah, dr freeman. Uh, I was wearing a kinderloo or a shirt and he's like how do you know that? Course, I saw this is my buddy roars. He used to he was a assistant there, his dad's member, and he's like that's right where I went to school. I said, oh, valdosta. He's like, yeah, it was. It was hilarious.
Speaker 1:But yeah, conversation starters 100, yeah, and I I mean that's also a different way to look at it like I could wear a burning tree logo to theo's school you know, now he's going to kindergarten and where and somebody could be like burning tree and he could be like all right, he's a golfer. Like you would know, someone is a golfer if they recognize the burning tree logo. You know, it's like auto connection.
Speaker 1:Maybe I might have to reevaluate, maybe, yeah fine golfers I'm definitely not wearing it to play golf, I will tell you that, but where? To the kiss and kiss and drop line yeah, if I mean if, if, if you're going to a gala or something where there's a lot of money, hey rock the burning tree.
Speaker 2:Logo polo like oh you bent. No, I was one of the early fundraisers for the course, and so they yeah yeah, well, I'm a member at uh, I'm a member at summit.
Speaker 1:Oh hey, let's go. Hey, it might be a good move, yeah I can get you on burn tree you guys are fucking me up right now, uh-oh uh-oh, all right.
Speaker 2:So one thing we got going on this weekend, sunday um the guap uh is back right, yes, yes, john, o yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 1:Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Years Desmond.
Speaker 3:Pines is the asshole of Las Vegas.
Speaker 2:Thank you, god, I'm so happy.
Speaker 1:Somebody yeah, and that's where the shit happens, that's where it gets shit, that's where it stinks.
Speaker 3:That's where it stinks. That's where it's brown and it stinks.
Speaker 2:Probably going to be the last time I've got to find three other players, guys, that's going to be the last time I play it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, probably going would be the last time I play it? Yeah, probably gonna be the last time.
Speaker 2:Yeah, because it's gonna die, it's done, yeah, yeah, yeah, joe you know what time we start uh, I'll figure out because I'm in charge of this one, bruce.
Speaker 3:All right look at this one, look at this one, look at jordy. Oh, it means like a minefield. Last time I was there They've looked like a minefield for 15 years 15, yeah, 20 years the thing that I've always loved about Desert Pines is that they were always soft.
Speaker 1:They were always soft, right, you could throw fucking darts out there.
Speaker 2:The homeless people that give you your ball back.
Speaker 1:Your ball marks would be like this It'd be like a wave You'd hit the green and it'd go.
Speaker 4:I remember the homeless guy. It's a ball into a homeless camp and we go out there and he just throws the ball back.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he was like hey, is this yours?
Speaker 3:He's like, hey, you hit your ball in my living room.
Speaker 2:Where's your ball? I was over here trying to screw a thin. Can I'm over here?
Speaker 3:having family dinner here. You fucking ruined it with your golf.
Speaker 2:Sex with a traffic cone.
Speaker 1:Also, when you go play Desert Pines along the freeway, you got to try and flop it on there. You got to try and flop it up on that on the sign, which we've done many times yeah, that's always fun to do not intentionally bruised not intentionally.
Speaker 2:No, it wasn't, it wasn't yeah, it was.
Speaker 3:Yeah, he took a three iron out, played it back in the stands, brought one in there I'm gonna hook the shit up the homeless people like watch this. Watch the rim get these fucking people back to their shanties these fucking losers.
Speaker 2:No, we're gonna lose that golf course, guys, we're gonna lose another golf course that's not one we're losing, though in my opinion, that's one that you guys are a loser you're a loser, then you're a loser, then You're a loser, you accept defeat.
Speaker 1:You need to watch Trey's stories and get inspired. That course has been defeated For excellence.
Speaker 2:No, there's no level of anything that that course could do.
Speaker 3:He died through in the town, that course, when he died.
Speaker 2:No, he gave it to his son and his son just.
Speaker 1:PB died. Pb died, built that one. Pb died, built that one. Pb died, built that one. It don't matter, these guys hate it's trash. That's why people, everybody knows I love it, even chat Chat.
Speaker 2:Chat knows it's trash Chat knows. Anytime you get to play golf on a golf course is exceptional. Okay, we don't get to do it all, then I want to hear nothing but positive things coming out of you about the meadows from now on.
Speaker 1:Hey, that was a fucking fun ass round, bro. I loved that round. It was fun. Bob lost his range finder. I was very tired. There was a lot of tree trunks, but we were out on the golf course. A lot of tree trunks.
Speaker 2:A lot of tree trunks.
Speaker 1:Dude, there was tree trunks like roots going through the fairway, I think there was lawnmowers in the middle of the fairway that were just abandoned too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, All right man these guys are hating, don't? You're not missing anything, mike, it's it's not pretty mike.
Speaker 1:It's not pretty mike, but it's a golf course and we're losing them. We're losing golf courses and that means if we lose the golf course, people are coming to other golf courses and tee times are going to get hard to get, and it's already gotten harder to get. We lost black mountain. We lost silverstone. Well, that was before me. What else did we lose?
Speaker 3:we lost prim badlands, badlands royal links and now charleston, and now it's hard to get tea times.
Speaker 1:Prim was always there for you. That is my darling, that's.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was always there for you when chris posted that video last week, when he stopped by. I was like why you got to bring up bad memories yeah, yeah, they put the fence out and everything.
Speaker 1:I was like damn bruce asked do the casinos endorse any golf courses out there?
Speaker 2:uh, yeah, not really yeah, uh, mgm is with shadow creek. Uh, ria, the, they don't promote it. Caesars, caesars used to have a deals with cascada and rio, but they're no longer part of that now that they're with cab Cabot. Yeah, not much anymore.
Speaker 1:They're not like they don't promote them, but they're a part of them.
Speaker 2:Arizona going to lose Shepard Pines after that scathing review from Hidden Greens.
Speaker 1:I just like Nora. Matt bro, you don't know where you're going until you know where you're at. You know what I mean, and that's facts.
