The Chasing Daylight Podcast
341: Play It Before It's Gone, The Disappearing Vegas Golf Landscape
The disappearing golf landscape of Las Vegas takes center stage as the hosts discuss the imminent closure of Desert Pines Golf Club. While opinions on the course vary dramatically—one host defends it passionately while others criticize its conditions—they all acknowledge the sobering reality that Las Vegas is losing yet another golf course. This loss reflects the broader challenges faced by desert golf courses struggling with water conservation requirements in an era of climate change.
Southern Nevada's water conservation efforts, while necessary and impressively forward-thinking, have created a new reality for golf courses in the region. The hosts explore how this impacts course conditions, especially during the brutal summer months when temperatures consistently exceed 100 degrees. They call for understanding and patience from golfers who might be quick to criticize courses without knowing the challenges they face behind the scenes.
The conversation shifts to national golf news, including Team USA's underwhelming Ralph Lauren Ryder Cup apparel, described as predictably nautical and unchanged from previous years. They speculate about rumors that Rory McIlroy might defect to LIV Golf, though they question whether LIV would be getting their money's worth now that Bryson DeChambeau has emerged as golf's YouTube star.
Excitement builds as the hosts announce their official sponsorship with Garson Golf, offering listeners 15% off with code DAYLIGHT15. The episode includes a live wedge giveaway to a lucky viewer and wraps up with details about their upcoming Nebraska golf trip featuring courses like Landmand and Prairie Club.
If you love golf in Las Vegas, don't wait to play the courses you've been putting off. As water restrictions tighten and development pressures increase, the golf landscape is changing rapidly. Once these courses are gone, they're gone forever.

Speaker 1:How many podcasts have a person who made the tour championship doing a little shout out. There's probably a lot. So I'm sorry. Uh, you know, very, very happy for harry. Uh and great tournament. Uh, could have let it get away from them. Had that unbelievable chip in then, scotty you know that was sick, one that was a little better scott is chipping was.
Speaker 1:Oh my goodness. That thing rolled for a week and a half forever. Yeah, god, uh. So yeah, thank. Thankfully he played well enough. He's made it. He's in all the signature events for making the bmw. I gotta find out. I know there's. I believe he secured his card for another two years by making the tour championship. I don't know if he gets in the masters with this, but I think he might. Uh, jeremy, if you've got a second, look up what the players get for making. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Hey.
Speaker 3:Kevin, how you living?
Speaker 4:Good to see you.

Speaker 4:That's awesome.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's uh, incredibly awesome for him. Uh, he's had a really great year. We've been posting his stats. His putting stats are just off the charts and uh. So yeah, congrats to him and his family. It's going to be a great year. End of the year for him. He won $750,000 for finishing eighth in that tournament. That's sick. He's won a chunk of change this year.
Speaker 4:That little flopper chipper in there, though, was sick.
Speaker 1:He had that one to get that win last year doing that. You can see scrolling across the bottom of the screen, you can see Daniel and H bottom of the screen. Uh, you can see daniel. Help out.
Speaker 3:I'm gonna finish it, yeah oh, oh, oh shit, I'm new there you go uh, yeah, so uh, we are giving away this wedge this evening here.
Speaker 1:Let me do it like this hey, yeah, how you do it, joe uh, I mean, yeah, I mean that's how people do it.
Speaker 4:That's very boys, very clean boy. Uh, that's super. That's how people do it.
Speaker 1:That's very clean boy.
Speaker 4:That's super clean boy, super clean boy Good grooves Nowhere.

Speaker 4:Yeah, brandon's in there, coach is in there, kevin's in there, payment Field's in there.
Speaker 1:I just bought a couple of polos from coach.
Speaker 4:Yeah, Coach, hey guys, if if you are a reseller, go check out reselling Raiders. It's also a podcast, not golf specific, but check out reselling Raiders. If you resell anything, great podcast. They talk whatnot? Ebay sourcing all that stuff, what's up.
Speaker 1:Mark, sourcing all that stuff. What's up, mark? What's up mark, how you living? Oh, mark, what's up? Man, thanks for your support, absolutely, absolutely. Um. So I since we have a bunch of whatnotters in there right now um did. I know, I know jeremy probably didn't and dan, you haven't had the app on, but uh, cool kicks the other night did something that was absolutely insane, insane. Joe sent me a message and was like I was about.
Speaker 4:I had a text written out to you, dan. I was like I don't want to tempt him well, can you tell me what it was about?
Speaker 2:I sort of he was.
Speaker 1:It was like a appreciation episode for them, hitting 600 000 followers, and they had uh where people could buy a one thousand dollar uh shout out or a five thousand dollar shout out type and say, you know, you were going to be sponsored and they were giving away uh amazon gift cards. So at one point they had given away like four, five thousand dollar amazon gift cards and they had 19 pending amazon gift cards, but there was there was 26 000 people in the stream um.
Speaker 1:They set all kinds of records. There was over 60 000 shares uh, they get like over 200 grand in giveaways it absolutely great. They didn't sell anything either. Didn't sell one, it was just just give away. That was a watch.
Speaker 2:There's like four or five guys that are running that show, right, I think I saw a screenshot of it. There was a bunch of guys in there.
Speaker 1:I know those guys have their own shows. I don't know if it's all under the Cool Kicks branding. I guess you could say Joe's got his own show and a couple of the other guys have their own shows. But that was wild to see. It was neat to see he was getting messages from media outlets wanting to talk about it. Yeah, so it's big. There's Miles, there you go.
Speaker 4:There you go, there you go.
Speaker 1:I said emojis don't count Miles, so you better be better than that.
Speaker 4:So did you guys see on Instagram Damon John jumping on whatnot? You guys know Damon John, right.
Speaker 1:Shark Tank Shark.
Speaker 4:Tank. Yeah, he was on whatnot the other day, I think he was with Cool Kicks, yeah, and he was like this is the future, which is insane.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but are they selling $60 sleeve of balls to get into a Scotty giveaway?
Speaker 4:No, he was on Cool Kick Show, so they're selling shoes, but I also saw him sell some crazy-ass shoes for like $40.
Speaker 1:Yeah, just like Take.
Speaker 3:Five.
Speaker 4:Take Five sold a full set of Pxgs last night for 20 full set 20 bucks 20 quick.
Speaker 1:It was like four through pitch you got a deal on that swag head cover yeah I did, you know because nobody was paying attention and he threw his swag up there and I saw his name pop up.
Speaker 1:Gotta pay attention yeah because all the ones after that went for much higher. Alright, some other things we'll be talking about. Of course we got Scotty's win again, and I mean that hot take from Phil Mickelson is just hilarious every single time. Now the USA team unveiled their Ryder Cup apparel. Mixed reactions on that. Xander made a putting change this past weekend which everybody was up in arms about. That Big news. Doral is back on the schedule for the PGA Tour.
Speaker 4:Yeah saw that.
Speaker 1:That was very exciting. That is an incredibly hard golf course and it was awesome to see that. Back on the. Uh, the schedule uh, we were out at desert pines for the magic invitational and had ourself a day won that tournament. That was a lot of fun, even though it was at desert pines. We talked about desert pines. Uh, our boy, steven jackson, yesterday with me and a couple other people he shot at 270 out at revere. That was fun to watch. A little update on Revere and then we'll do the wedge givey near the end of the show.
Speaker 4:Before we go full in on golf, can I just finish up on what not? Sorry, I'm trying to talk to some people here.
Speaker 1:You can just talk, I know, I know, I know, know.
Speaker 4:I'm just trying to give everybody love, you know, you know how we do it, you know how we do it, um.
Speaker 4:So today I went to the guap meet, uh, which is at magic project show, and I popped in real quick. Uh, my friend, our friend, chris, world famous, um, couldn't make it but I was at the golf shop, I got an email, anyway. So I saw the homie, heffy Ryan from Devereux Golf and he's the first guy I saw and we were we were talking about whatnot and whatnot approached their brand to do a show and they showed him, they showed them numbers and what they're doing and he was blown away. He's a huge golf lover and, uh, he has so many vintage golf shit and he's like I want to do it and you know like, but you know company, company wise, but anyway, huge, huge potential and, uh, we talked about that for a bit.
Speaker 4:But great brands Go follow the Guapme on Instagram Trying to bring up up-and-coming brands. Students was there. Our homie Cousin Clubs was well, he wasn't there and he's not, he's my cousin, he's your cousin, but he's Clubs Handmade. But yeah, just love to see the support for the brands up and coming, support for the brands up and coming, support for the brands up and coming in golf and uh, yeah, whatnot is a force, it in golf.
Speaker 4:And uh, yeah, whatnot is a force, it in golf. And uh, yeah, whatnot is a force. It is here and it's coming, and is here and it's coming, and.
Speaker 1:We appreciate it. Don't know, I haven't heard. I mean, I'm not trying to toot our own horn, but I am trying to toot our own horn. I have not heard a lot of other golf podcasts talking about whatnot.
Speaker 4:Reselling Raiders.
Speaker 1:I consume quite a bit of podcasts and I haven't heard anybody chatting about it.
Speaker 4:We're future thinkers over here just in the podcast. It helps when you have a seller yeah that I mean that is that does help and look they with the weight loss lately oh, look at that, that's, that's old school, that's old back into an og one yeah so getting uh getting the weight down and uh hit a low number yesterday, pretty happy hey
Speaker 4:but all you guys that are here from whatnot. We appreciate you, um, we support those that support us and truly and fully appreciate you. We're golf lovers. It's not about do that bank accounts, it's about golf. And uh, we love this fucking game. Like and subscribe, yeah, go check out. Uh, past shows man.
Speaker 1:We've been doing this for a while and literally truly appreciate all you guys so in in the chat, in the the details for this episode down below, if you click on it if you want to, uh, you can see I I've added a lot of stuff in there. We're trying to get more information out to everybody. You can uh, our bios are in there or links to our instagram are in there. Um, and also we have, we have something new that I'm very excited to share. We've been working on this for a couple weeks. We've teased it a couple times, uh, but uh, right here, garson golf is uh officially a sponsor uh of the chasing daylight podcast in the the details for this episode.
Speaker 1:Down below there is a link to garson golf. If you click on that link and go to their website, use the code DAYLIGHT15, and you will take 15% off of your order. And the good thing about that it helps support us and them. But they're not in retail. The only retail that they're in is Club Champion, which isn't really retail, uh, but you're you can't go into golf stores and get them. The only place you can buy them is online or resellers on whatnot. Like that guy over there. Uh, we'll occasionally have them in there, but if you want to try them out absolutely we highly recommend it get the 15 off a grip, put on your putter and see what happens.
Speaker 1:We are going to be having features where we will talk about specific grips. We will have ads running for them shortly and I'm going to have a nice little display right here with the Garson grips on it. So if you have any questions, I myself have been using Garson grips for quite a long time. I went through this phase over the last I don't know 10 months where I've been trying a whole bunch of different putter grips. Back to the Garson at 28 putts out at Revere yesterday. Very happy with it and yeah. So if you have any questions, feel free to shout me out on Instagram or on here, and I'll answer as many questions as I can. Joe also has been playing a Garson for a long time.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I love Carson Fantastic grips. We're not. We're not gonna. We're not, we're not one of those groups of people or podcasts are going to sell you some shit from China. They're great grips. Okay, they're fantastic. And if you've been around for a long time, sold a bunch of Carson grips uh, what a couple of months ago. They're great. I love my Carson grip. It's the only thing I want on my putter personally. So, uh, I love, I love Carson grips.
Speaker 1:So this is this is a good question. Are they lab friendly? They actually have a grip that they are using with lab. Right now, lab has a garson grip option. So, yes, they are lab friendly. Look at fucking.
Speaker 4:Mike, bro, bgc, that's the homie. Mike's the homie. Do you read it?
Speaker 1:Yeah, proof. And get a shout out on our socials.
Speaker 4:Love that. Shout out, mike, I'll hide it.
Speaker 1:Thank you, sir, much appreciated. Alright, so let's get into. I want to talk about the Ryder Cup gear. Did you guys see it? I probably should find a page and bring it up.
Speaker 2:I saw a few pictures Is it Ralph Lauren?
Speaker 3:I've never been a fan of Ralph Lauren.
Speaker 2:So JT? Does that mean he's not going to be on the team? Because didn't they drop him?
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, Trey sent me a video of Keegan Bradley handing out tickets to random players at Bethpage and he's like you played Bethpage on the wrong day Because I played Bethpage yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I played it on the wrong. Yes, yeah, you did.
Speaker 4:I did yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Joe's been around.
Speaker 1:Joe's been around, I'll bring this share screen alright. So there, that's the one of the polos, that's the vest typical Ralph Lauren shit very typical Ryder Cup.
Speaker 4:Shit too you can play golf.
Speaker 1:You could play golf and go sail your fucking yacht afterwards I was just gonna say you want to go, want to go hit the schooner for real?
Speaker 4:oh, let's see any anybody down for a lobster?
Speaker 1:roll every.
Speaker 3:That looks very uh 1990 looks like a rugby sweater, yeah, like a starter. What is going on?
Speaker 2:Starter gear Like an old school Patriots gear.
Speaker 1:Oh, that hoodie's not bad with the Ryder Cup on it. Let's see.
Speaker 4:I feel like they could do so many cool things and they just don't try to elevate their game. It looks the same every year.
Speaker 1:Oh wow, they have all kinds of different. Let's just go Raffler, here we go.
Speaker 2:Who did they do last year? Do you remember who's?
Speaker 1:Jay Lindbergh, wasn't it?
Speaker 2:Oh, that's right, Yep, or last two years ago, I guess.
Speaker 4:Jordan says a 5 out of 10 cleanie boy rating.
Speaker 1:I wish they had just the stuff that they're wearing on the course, because they have a flag shirt that was getting a lot of it was getting crapped on because it had the usa logo on the right chest and had the flag on the left chest. It's like, do we really need that much usa right up front like that? But so, yeah, that's, uh, that's what's going on there. You get this off off the screen. Please stop the screen share.
Speaker 4:Chris costa said yeah, malabon would have made it super dope and and that's what's so in, it's interesting, right like it'd be interesting to see what malabon would do, because I feel like a lot of these brands, like ralph lauren, of course they of course they get writer cut, you know and some of the smaller brands, I feel like they might push the boundaries a bit more yeah, but I don't, because they look it looks the same every year do they literally I don't know this
Speaker 3:is I just?
Speaker 1:I found another picture, so I'm gonna bring it back up.
Speaker 4:Hang on I just think it looks the same every year, like that polo that they're going to wear will look the same as last Ryder cup.
Speaker 1:There's. There's the one where it's. It's kind of mocky ish, but it's got the USA. That's $405 for a polo, a jacket and a hat Insane that is nuts.
Speaker 3:They have that shirt on the rack at Marshalls right, yeah, and it's a polo shirt yeah, this is US polo, yeah at least it's a new era.
Speaker 1:Could you imagine spending $400 on that?
Speaker 4:it's great, but the only gripe I have with it is it looks pretty much the same every Ryder Cup Like somebody needs to push it forward. There needs to be something different to entice people to want to purchase it.
Speaker 1:And that's why Get our asses handed to us again. Maybe they'll yeah we'll see They'll change it up. Oh, they say it's's see what's it say hey, he said uh, I listened to last week's show. Today only get time when I'm running equipment. I have one main take if my boy was late for anything, I'm covering for him. I got jumped by a bunch of homeless people 20 minutes like now.
Speaker 1:Okay, so I respect that 100, but this this little little bit of clarification. When joe texted me and told me I just woke up, I wasn't aware that he thought the tea time was later yeah, I thought I woke up at 6 30 I was brushing my teeth. We know your story. Shut up.
Speaker 1:I'm talking uh, yeah, I'm still, I'm still bitter, but I I thought he was calling me and texting me saying, uh, I just woke up because he drank too much and was on all night and so that's why I was pissed now when he told me that, hey, I thought the tea time was later and he didn't get the email, I I totally, totally, you know, understood so yeah, also, if you guys didn't know, matt's wife is on my side well, she was no she wasn't at first, but then she was. Yeah, she wasn't at first, but I was telling the story and she was like I can't believe joe would do that, like right, right, oh yeah, by the way, I forget to say also.
Speaker 4:Yo, I still didn't miss it. I was there, all right, never missed it, never.
Speaker 1:I might have missed the start of a tee time, but but I've never missed a round of golf hey if we were in a match against somebody else and Joe was running late and yeah, of course, going to bat for him every chance I can to make sure that he's covered.
Speaker 3:I would never throw him under the bus.
Speaker 1:But thanks for commenting on that. Green check marks, green check on it. Green check marks. Green check marks. Green check marks. We're good now. We're good now. We're good now. So what? Do you what? What's uh? Are you guys happy? Dural's back.
Speaker 4:I'm I'm stoked for dural yeah, yeah, I love it, I love it yeah if you want to still do the live event there too.
Speaker 1:Don't continue that or maybe live lost it that could be a thing too, you know it's interesting.
Speaker 4:So I was listening to our friends over at birdies and bourbon today and, uh, cal from birdies and bourbon heard a rumor that rory may be the next defective. Not saying it's true, I don't know. We're speculating here. Totally 100%. They were speculating, but with Rory's past year, two years being the poster child and then being like partying.
Speaker 1:I can see him being done with the PGAs. I could see that and he's got his career grand slam.
Speaker 4:But I just but also they brought up like Rory is a. I truly believe that Rory is a fan of golf and he does not like the separation and the divide and maybe Rory sees it as his opportunity to bring the two sides together. I don't know. We're speculating here.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Do you see it happening? I feel like if he was going to go, he would have gone. I feel like it's, it's almost like do you think they're going to pay out the money now that they were paying out originally?
Speaker 4:I don't know man, I don't know, I mean he's got it, he's got his, he's got his crown.
Speaker 3:Now he's got the grand slam, so I don't know, yeah, bryson is already well liked, just as much as rory is. You know, rory is actually kind of more hated probably than bryson, but I don't think they need like a glue guy to get over there to help make it. You know, make it all men together. I thought that was the goal, like to begin with. Isn't live in the pga tour eventually supposed to be all one entity? Isn't that like? Wasn't like the that the goal, of piff coming in and doing all the shit? Yeah?
Speaker 1:I mean they always have all these meetings. Thanks, kevin, appreciate it right on kev.
Speaker 3:Um, so they've been always having these meetings every year to meet up and see what they can do, and it always seems like, you know, there's always a divide somewhere.
Speaker 1:But see, now, coach, I have a beef with this because he says rory believes in the history of the pga more. He'll never leave the pga.
Speaker 4:Bryson was the same way, though bryson's a big history guy I feel like bryson was way more historically like lover than rory.
Speaker 1:Yeah I mean when he won at, did he won at uh uh, arnie's place, right, he won, didn't he win there.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I mean, rory's a huge, uh historical buff on the open, which is has nothing to do with pga tour.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I feel no except that that scotty won yeah, am, I am.
Speaker 4:I wouldn't surprise me if, uh, by roy jump ship feel like he's developed a big chop on his shoulder over. That's how I feel. Right, yeah, we'll see. Okay, we'll see, and you can go listen to birdies and bourbon and go dissect that podcast. They also talked about Mike Strance and Tothill Farm during that episode, which I loved, of course, but I don't know. Something's brewing. I mean, anthony Kim was relegated.
Speaker 1:I don't see it, but I could see it Anthony Kim never got a point.
Speaker 4:I know right, but I could see the potential of it happening because I feel like Rory might feel a little shunned.
Speaker 1:It would ruffle some feathers for sure, 100%. But I don't know, maybe the PGA Tour is okay with Rory not being in the spotlight because he kind of is in his own world now with hey, I've done everything that I need to accomplish on your tour. I've won the FedEx Cup multiple times. I've been the number one player in the world. I've, you know, won the career grand slam. Let me just play golf 10 times a year in front of nobody for $400 million.
Speaker 4:Well, here's where I'm at with it. Like Rory's divide is like you know, I think. I think it's pretty split 60, 40, maybe like hate love, hate relationship. But Rory I, I haven't seen Rory in the mix since the masters.
Speaker 1:So for anybody that does watch live, can anyone explain how Joaquin Neiman won five times but didn't win? Player of the year.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I mean Joaquin Wakan Naman, as we call him at the Chase the Delight podcast. He's their best player. Cam Smith, who I used to love, is trash now. I just don't know, I just don't know, I just don't know. Bryson's the most popular golfer in the entire world. Bryson's more popular with the new generation than Rory is with golfers. He's a YouTube star, exactly, and that's the wave, that's his PGA fame.
Speaker 1:That got him elevated. And then he is probably one of the only pga tour guys that has done youtube, and maybe that's because he's able to. Now, you know, maybe he wasn't able to do youtube when he was with the pga tour because they have his rights, so he's gone there and just blown up as a youtube star and I think live would be wasting their money on rory at this point, because bryson is it currently yeah, the guy's on uh, as list two they're talking about he's.
Speaker 1:he wears that outfit everywhere too His blue Crushers polo and his khakis and his Reeboks. He takes a shower in that stuff.
Speaker 2:He's paid a lot of money to wear that shit. I think Mike's right about the Euro following, though, if they're really wanting to target that?
Speaker 1:Rory's yeah answer for sure. And why was the live final in indianapolis? I mean, no, no, you know. Shame on the midwest, but really that's how predominant of a course is. I don't know that area. So what's the? Do you know the course?
Speaker 2:I don't I think I didn't even know it was the finals until I saw.
Speaker 4:John Rowe, Player of the Year. I think Liv fully shit the bed on not having the final in Las Vegas. They're the party tour. They're the have fun tour.
Speaker 1:They're the no pants tour.
Speaker 4:Last week. Here though they shit the bed, though Make it next month, they would have had to change it to october. They only played 10 times a year. Who cares if you gotta wait a month? I mean, they shit the bet on that like make it.
Speaker 1:The 54 players in the field, 38 of them are taking hydration.
Speaker 4:Yeah, because they're exhausted from the opportunity for sponsorships. Element liquid iv uh, what's the other hydration drinks? But I don't know. Interesting, interesting. They should have done it in tahoe, should have done that, bandon there you go.
Speaker 1:They could easily get on desert pines. Absolutely they could. All right, that's a good transition. Thanks, maddie boyd. Uh, desert pine. So we, uh, we're in the joey. Explain what magic is. So everybody knows, because I don't want to say it's wrong guys.
Speaker 4:So magic is the uh like the fashion convention that happens twice a year in las vegas. It's where all the clothing companies come to showcase their next two seasons line of clothing. I used to go. I used to go when I was in high school. I used to ditch high school to go see the new clothes that were coming out. Happens in February and August every single year, but it's where you can go see spring and summer. So I was there. I saw spring and summer of next year, Because in the world of fashion and clothing you always have to be ahead of the curve because manufacturing and all that stuff. But it's where buyers and sellers go to meet up, congregate and bring things into their store for the next couple seasons.
Speaker 1:Yeah, basically, yeah, and at the las vegas convention center. Now is the whole convention center, because I know they used to have it at mandalay. Yeah, um, is it the whole convention center that's taken up with this, or is it just? I know the the guap is just a small section of it, but yeah, so there's, there's different sections now it's evolved over time.
Speaker 4:Um, there's project, there's also magic. There's also sourcing, where you can go find manufacturers of companies to source the things you need. Um, guap meat was in, uh, the project area, area which is like the more up-and-coming brands that are trying to build their name. Um, but, yeah, it's different than I. When I was in high school, I swear, when magic was in town, I was not at school and we were there every single day, sneaking in through back hallways and doors, and it was me at school and we were there every single day sneaking in through back hallways and doors, and it was me at the AVNs.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Never snuck in the AVN.
Speaker 1:Never snuck in the AVN oh dude, that was some crazy shit back in the day, yeah.
Speaker 4:But yeah, that's what it is it's. It's an opportunity for buyers and sellers to introduce products, see that in hand and purchase things for your store or network and build your brand and, yeah, just absolutely lit it.
Speaker 1:Well, I made one putt. That was my contribution, jeremy. Dan and Joe were bombing it off the tees and we had chip shots on almost every, every hole. Joe got a real favorable bounce on the tenth hole and we had an eagle putt that Dan just hit as perfect as you could hit a putt from distance uphill left to right, or peak the hill downhill right to left that putt was insane.
Speaker 4:It was nuts.
Speaker 1:We were all just like as it was happening that got us to 8 under for the tournament. I had to leave. I had a prior obligation because the Aces moved the basketball game up three hours, so I had to skedaddle out of there.
Speaker 4:Troy, if you're watching, Chris talked me into stealing this. If you need it back, I'll send it back to you.
Speaker 1:I thought you were stealing Desert Pine flags, no.
Speaker 4:Yeah, well, he was like, he's like Mexican as Mexican does. That's what he said so.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I thought you were taking a Desert Pines flag. Is that you know? Closing and a little memento.
Speaker 4:That's my, that's the trophy right, we won also, guys, we won, did you get?
Speaker 1:three others.
Speaker 4:No, no, what a jerk, because I only played one hole on the back on the front nine, so we waited yeah, uh, it was, it was a fun hidden l.
Speaker 3:Hidden licks.
Speaker 1:So I was sharing some stories of our day out there on the CDP Instagram. Haven't done stories like that, I don't know. We got a lot of good feedback on it. I might start doing that more when we play together. Would have been fun to do that out at Chaparral Pines and the Rim, but I didn't think about it. I didn't think about it until I saw Mike doing it out at chaperone pines but in in the rim, but I didn't think about it. I didn't think about until I saw mike doing it out at at cascada. So yeah, uh, but yeah, the the the course wasn't a surprise. Uh, it's not in great shape. Uh, it's terrible in my opinion. Um, it's not in a great area town. Uh, the greens were okay, they weren't't bad, they weren't great. Coming soon to the KC Daylight.
Speaker 4:Podcast golf course rankings. Is it in a good area of town? How do?
Speaker 3:you score it, this one's not.
Speaker 4:It was in fucking zombie land when you're scared it's coming in next year's course rankings, so get prepared, Dan Dude get off.
Speaker 3:We got off the freeway. I told Jeremy this Get off the freeway. I told Jeremy this Get off the freeway. And there's this fucking homeless guy Got AstroTurf and everything set up right outside of his cardboard box. He's got it landscaping and shit he set up. There's another guy, another homeless guy Got his hand on a construction cone like this, and he's standing up and he's asleep and you can just see him dropping and dropping and dropping and dropping, and dropping, and I was at that light for like oh dude, I was on that line for like two minutes and he was just chilling and sleeping and drooping and he never fell down.
Speaker 3:Man, that guy stayed on his feet.
Speaker 4:It was actually kind of impressive when I left I tell you something, though, about that I took up.
Speaker 1:I took bonanza up to eastern, made a left, got. I was getting on the freeway, a massive dust devil came through and that, whatever is on the corner there they were having an outdoor. You know, I don't know what, but they had five.
Speaker 1:They had like five red pop-up tents and cars were stopping and I'm like I'm I'm going around you because if I stop one of those tents is going to land on my car and that's going to do way more damage. So I just bolted through it and I look in the rearview mirror and the tents were just flying in the air. It was, it was tragic. So what are we going to say, joe?
Speaker 4:I was going to say you guys see, you guys see garbage in the midst of garbage. But you know what I see when I'm driving in that part of town.
Speaker 3:Here we go.
Speaker 4:The opportunity for some fucking great tacos.
Speaker 3:Am I wrong? We're not talking about the food.
Speaker 4:No, I'm just saying.
Speaker 3:Yes, you're right.
Speaker 4:All you guys see is this darkness. Oh, there's this guy on drugs, there's this guy living on the street. But there's opportunity. Optimism, guys, and it's also die design. It's also die design, pb die.
Speaker 1:Peanut butter die.
Speaker 4:That's why I said die design.
Speaker 1:Peanut butter, falcon die, they're touting Pete Dye he collaborated a bit Very small Pete the Land.
Speaker 3:Whiskey Pete.
Speaker 4:Dye Guys, don't let these guys steal the thunder of the incredibleness of Desert Pines. It's very fun. It's not the greatest course in Vegas. It's not the best course in Vegas. It's not the best course in Vegas. It is not. And it's also closing. We're losing it. It's going to be gone. Appreciate what you have. Would you love to play Black Mountain or Silverstone? I'd like to play.
Speaker 1:Black Mountain because it was a fun routing for an old classic golf course.
Speaker 3:I'd like to play Silverstone, for sure.
Speaker 4:We're losing another golf course. Guys, have some heart.
Speaker 1:Royal Links 100%.
Speaker 3:I might be okay with losing that one.
Speaker 1:I'm fine with desert times going away.
Speaker 3:I might be okay losing that one.
Speaker 4:I am okay, bruce knows there we go, bruce. That's where the best tacos are found, bro, it's true.
Speaker 3:There's some good ones at Black Desert Resort too.
Speaker 1:It's real nice, and at Cascada, where it's really nice.
Speaker 3:I get what you're saying, Joe. I didn't look past the trash far enough to see the rows in the back corner. There the one rows.
Speaker 4:When you turn off there on eastern, that taco shop right there to the right is one of the only places in town that does like enchilada style taquitos. I've never been there but I've always wanted to go, because I'm too scared to get out of my car.
Speaker 2:But they're there.
Speaker 4:They're there.
Speaker 1:Opportunity. Oh yeah, joe was on time. Dad said what time is it? I'm like I'm not responding, I'm not going to say anything because the oh, I never got it would start happening. I said somebody else can respond to that one.
Speaker 4:Also Matt told me my tea time for september is 9 40, 9, 40 is my tea time ish so I'll be there. 9, 30 ish, so I'll be there I'll be there by 9 30 and if I'm, if, if I miss a couple holes, it's on him. I just saw that right now. My only gripe about Desert Pines is you only have one. Yes, the greens are too soft, too soft.
Speaker 4:The classic fucking when you hit the green, hitting greens, greens little surf wave I think I think it's so much fun and I think you guys are taking way too much into perspective like it being a good course.
Speaker 3:I think it's so much fun I will say this last to play, I will say. I will say I did have fun playing with you guys this time around.
Speaker 1:I think the think the company made that the last time I played there it was.
Speaker 3:It was fucking dog shit, and I was really pleasantly surprised. This time around there was actually grass there, so that was a plus. So I will give it that. I will give it two stars instead of one.
Speaker 4:I'm rating it five out of five on everything.
Speaker 1:Next next ranking I think the nicest thing they had there was the the ostrich skin seats in the golf cart yeah, that was unexpected hey that was the food.
Speaker 3:The food was good, food was good, let's not leave that out. The fajitas, the chicken and steak fajitas, those are fucking killer. Yeah, vic said that I had a couple servings.
Speaker 1:Even the clubhouse food is great. So, according to Joe, go play Desert Pines as much as you possibly can.
Speaker 4:It's closing, guys, you're never going to get to play that. You're never going to get the opportunity to play there again. It's closing we don't know, when it's like $75, $80. I have no idea.
Speaker 3:Wow, it's like 75, 80 bucks. I have no idea. Wow it's that much.
Speaker 4:Wow, dude, I know anytime I've wanted to go catch a twilight rate for 40, that's what it's worth if. If you've never played desert pines, go play it. We're gonna lose it, it's going, it's going away. So if you've never played it because these assholes have talked you out of playing there, wow, just go play it once, at least once, and then you be the judgment of your own round. But it's going away, we're going to lose another golf course in Las Vegas. So don't because I have regrets. I didn't play golf course. I had the opportunity to play golf courses that we've lost and I just skipped by him because somebody told me ah, it's not great, it's not good, you know, but if you haven't played it, go play it at least one time, because it's not going to be around forever. Capitalize on the moment. It's still here, so go play leave the shoes on.
Speaker 1:Yeah hey, I don't think, I don't think it gets I don't think it gets worse than the ditch.
Speaker 4:I don't think it gets worse than the ditch I don't know.
Speaker 1:The ditch has got some of the best greens in town, so that makes up a lot for the other issues they have there but guys, go play it.
Speaker 4:Go play it soon, because we're losing it and you're gonna you're gonna miss it. I promise you. I promise you're gonna miss it. Yeah, there's so go play it go play it.
Speaker 1:I mean big vegas golf. Uh, we can transition to this a little bit. I, I I don't know if you guys, uh, I don't know if I shared the video with you or not, but there's a guy on youtube called mr one putt. He's a I'm gonna be very derogatory. He's a old cooter that uh shoots putting videos on golf courses here in town and uh, he made a really like negative post about Revere and uh, like it was.
Speaker 4:Oh, woke up, woke the beast, woke the bear. Hey the bear is woken.
Speaker 1:It's, it's woke the beast, woke the bear, the bear is woken. Seriously, I have a special Revere. Has a special place in my heart right.
Speaker 4:I'd rather play Desert Pines than fucking. I'd rather play Desert Pines. I'll stop there then what no? Then Concord.
Speaker 1:I'll be sure to not invite you next time you can go play desert pines.
Speaker 1:Well, we will play a real golf course well, when it's closed, then I'm playing concord he had some really, really bad things to say and, um, you know, I I felt a lot of it was unwarranted. And, as somebody who is filming his content here in Vegas and is going around to all these golf courses I see him setting up shop and recording videos all over the place. He's at National all the time. He's at Revere all the time I thought it was a pretty shitty thing to do instead of, you know, reaching out to them and having a conversation with them. Now, we talk shit about golf courses all the time, but we don't have a massive following. We have 570, close to 570 people on YouTube and our combined Instagram accounts for maybe 15,000. So it's not like what we say, but this guy has a lot of views, like a lot of views. Very surprising, how many people tune into his channel and watch his stuff.
Speaker 1:Um, so I I thought it was pretty shitty to use that platform to voice your discretions with the place. Yeah, um, and it's one thing, and I was talking with steven about it yesterday. He's like you know you. I said, yeah, you know we occasionally do, dog, of course you could. Yeah, but you're a panel, there's four of you and more often than not, we've seen one of you say something and the other will go oh, shut up, you know, or say no, that's not right, or whatever desert, desert pines, for example.
Speaker 4:Just happened.
Speaker 1:Yeah, um, but this was a a solo thought of just him talking shit about the golf course and the management and the facilities for you know a good 15 minutes or 10 minutes, uh. So I reached out, uh to to tice, and I'm like, uh so have you 86 this guy from the property yet? And uh, so we had a little conversation about it and then he has since then released another video, a follow-up. That's a lot more cheeky, rosy and everything is great. But I asked Tice, I'm like, hey, why don't you come on the show and let's talk about?
Speaker 1:it and instead of hearing from Las Vegas golf golf friends who, if the greens aren't rolling like augusta on sunday, the course is shit. Uh, and let's actually hear what's going on from somebody that's running the golf course and and hear you know what, what the hell's going on, because vegas golf right now has changed dramatically. Uh, you know, we used to have an influx of golf courses. We used to have, uh, you know, people coming here non-stop. Uh, this was the one of the destination places to go play golf. It was, you know, arizona, vegas or florida.
Speaker 1:But now there's places all over the place michigan's blowing up, south Carolina's blowing up, florida's still blowing up, bandon's blowing up, nebraska's blowing up, wisconsin's blowing up. There's so many places that people can go now that they have options that well. You know Vegas. I don't know if I want to pay $35 for a 12-ounce Bud Light, and people are not coming here as much because there's more options, especially on the golf side. We're still going to get conventions. We're still going to get the people that come to Vegas because they like to gamble, but the recreational golfers that would plan the trips with their boys to come to Vegas. There's better options out there now. I'm not going to deny that there's better options out there now, especially with the amount of courses that we do.
Speaker 1:And then on top of that you throw in the southern nevada water district and las vegas valley water authority um what they're doing to conserve water and and that's one of the things that this guy said in this video, where he was, like you know, we're not in a drought and blah, blah, blah, blah, and it's like you know what. What the water district for southern nevada has done as far as conservation goes is insane, yeah there are people from all over the world that come here to find out what we're doing because our conservation efforts are 10 years ahead of everybody else. Yeah, there was some really smart people that said we don't have enough water, let's stop.
Speaker 4:Let's chill out. Chill out dog, chill out dog.
Speaker 1:There's three and a half million people in this valley right now because that happened 10, 15 years ago. So there's going to be some changes. There's going to be some hard realities that are coming down the pipes. There's going to be some golf courses that we may not see operating, that are in perfect condition right now because they can't get their water under control. Um, and Revere is trying to make it better. They they are having some hard times. They had some issues. We'll let Tice talk about that. But there's other courses in the Valley that are going through the same thing Right now.
Speaker 1:August in Vegas, it's hot, it's muggy, it's hot all day long. We got another heat wave coming this week where it's going to be 108 for seven straight days. The courses are going to be fried and it's a challenge, and especially if it's a place that has a lot of overturn, with greens, keepers and employees and management, and so I ask everybody to be patient. I ask everybody that is listening that is a vegas local that is playing golf, um to please. You know, understand. Some courses are trying, some are failing, some are doing really good, like pi you never has issue rose is fantastic.
Speaker 1:Uh, you know, the roy and cena courses are doing really good right now coyote springs no overseen one of the great things about golf is it teaches you lessons, right?
Speaker 4:We all love learning lessons from the game of golf, am I wrong?
Speaker 3:Say that again.
Speaker 4:We all love learning life lessons from the game of golf correct.
Speaker 4:Okay. So you don't know what a course is struggling with and before you dive into berating them online, find out what's happening, like legacy was a prime example of that. Okay, before you say the conditions are shit, not everything's augusta. Okay, not every course has all the money in the entire world to do what they need to do. Legacy went down because the fucking pump house went down and lost the inlet to the course, exactly. And legacy did a great job saying, hey, we lost our pump house, come play. It's going to be shit, but it's 30 bucks, you know. And I think courses, if they can tell their stories better, would be like Legacy did a great job at that. Yeah absolutely.
Speaker 4:And also in life. You don't know everyone's story. You don't know where they came from, their upbringing. You know if they eat bean and cheese burritos every night, you don't know where they came from. So it's a thing like ask the question before you judge what's happening. What's happening in this moment is there. Is there seeds behind that haven't grown yet, or but like I, I love, I love revere, right, that's where one of the places I started playing. But you don't know the struggles that are happening behind the scenes, and that's a life lesson right there.
Speaker 1:Yep Austin's asking are they really that strict on water there? Nebraska really is blessed with its aquifer.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Very strict, very strict. I mean it's getting really, really strict. That's why we're losing all the golf courses. The land is more valuable, not as a golf course right now. Yeah, we don't have a water restriction on the Gulf Coast, but can clearly see the ones that are up to date on their watering systems Can only imagine if there's a restriction as well. Yeah, and it's not exactly cheap to update. You know golf courses, yeah, your system, and it needs to be updated. And legacy, legacy shut down. Legacy was going to be homes and they fought back, and so I can't remember exactly how long the course was vacated for, but that that place had no grass, no water on the grass for a while, yeah, and, and water is a lubricator for fittings and so you know you turn it off and then turn it back on. You're gonna have wiki leaks everywhere yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4:And if you're from vegas and you follow darden, you know wiki leaks means yeah, shout out darden shout out, darden shout out but also not everything is like. Stop holding that as a standard. That is top, top tier, yeah, and and also you play different conditions. It will make you better at golf.
Speaker 1:Point blank period yeah, because those shit awful, horrible lies at desert pines really made me shit better yesterday. Exactly now you know what to expect. Oh man, those were some bad holes. Oh, all right, we'll move on, move on, hey. Uh. So who got one of these last week? Anybody, anybody, anybody, anybody. Joe with the hey, it holds three of my larger ball markers. That's how much room you got in there. Three large ball markers, three large ball markers oh nice.
Speaker 1:I love to see it, nice room in there. Rio's tits right now Can confirm yes, it is.
Speaker 2:Austin. How are the mosquitoes in Nebraska with all that rain? Do we need to bring extra bug spray A gallon of off, Because we don't have mosquitoes here until recently. Deet.
Speaker 1:I think those had different names last podcast. Oh yeah, this was the green vagina, deet vagina, yeah, a lot of mosquitoes. He said, hey, because I bought that. If you're following joe's show on whatnot, because I bought something during the show and I won two follower giveaways.
Speaker 4:Oh, you're going to rip them. Live Jesus.
Speaker 1:Live rip.
Speaker 3:Let's rip them live Live rip. Fuck yeah, this is the live rip.

Speaker 4:Austin said Clint's brother. Yeah, I could see that for sure, kim Young.
Speaker 3:Kim likes him young.
Speaker 1:And look at this.
Speaker 4:Double banger of Trevino's oh.
Speaker 1:You got two.
Speaker 3:Trevino's in that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, one's a stat leader.
Speaker 4:One's a non-stat leader.
Speaker 1:Yeah so.
Speaker 2:We should trade, we should get together and trade. Still don't have a daily.
Speaker 1:I need to get a.
Speaker 3:Trevino.

Speaker 2:I'm going to send a letter to that address, on the back, self-addressed. I'll be like hey, what can you do for me? Yeah, maybe I'll get an unopened wax box.
Speaker 1:Bubble gum cards. Hell yeah, uh, let me bring this up over here. Said we would do it at the one hour mark and we are a minute and a half away. So uh, get those comments in. You got one minute left one no emojis, no emojis.

Speaker 2:So, joe, what did you get? What did you? Uh, what did you order for the, for the?
Speaker 4:tailor-made wedges, yeah. So what's so crazy is, uh, I bought a shot, I'll take five. Um, I ordered a bunch of lefty lefty, uh, fairway wood covers and since we have such a fantastic relationship with one, 49, but this is the greatest golf shop in Las Vegas. I wish we had a second swing, but what we have is the Las greatest golf shop in las vegas. I wish we had a second swing, but what we have is the las vegas golf superstore. That's not dicks, it's not golf galaxy. Las vegas golf superstore is where to go. Um, I traded in my two lefty rogue st fair Lefties, because Lefties are thieves, they're pirates. And I pre-ordered the MG5s Full set 50-54, 60, 9-degree bounce. We're going up 1 degree on the bounce. Hit them. Saw Julian, saw Julian. I talked to Julian for a while, but I hope I have them for Nebraska. I hope, I hope, I hope.
Speaker 2:You said there's a time, we're short.
Speaker 4:I went chrome. I went chrome.
Speaker 3:Cleany boys.
Speaker 4:They're going to be super cleany boys. You know what that means.
Speaker 1:My personally used wedge set will be on whatnot after Because they're gone austin says here, before you guys go, I want a garson recommendation for a jumbo driver grip. I've been wanting to try one 50 to do it.
Speaker 4:They only do putters yeah, austin, go check out the. We have an episode matt interviewed uh garson on Bernie Bernie A couple episodes ago. Go listen to that. Fantastic rips. We're not going to tell you to get something that we don't use ourselves or recommend. They're quality, they're great, they're cleanie boys.
Speaker 1:Oh no, oh, no, oh no.
Speaker 4:Uh-oh you know what.
Speaker 1:Okay, there it is. I found it. Oh, I was going to say fuck, I thought I lost a giveaway screen.
Speaker 4:Also, we're not going anywhere. We're going to run it and then we'll probably. Yeah, we're not going anywhere.
Speaker 1:So let me bring this up. Share the screen Now. If, for any reason, the Chasing Daylight podcast name gets drawn, we will redraw because Joe has been responding to some entries, so 17 entries in there right now. It doesn't count how many comments you made, it just counts how many people have commented. So yeah, this is real time. Yes, adam.
Speaker 4:Are we pulling it right now?
Speaker 1:Yep.
Speaker 4:Why wait? Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it.
Speaker 3:I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it.
Speaker 2:I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it.
Speaker 1:I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it. I'm not sure if I'mged in the chat. All right, it is official. Matt Void has a new wedge. Congrats, maddie. I know you're probably just going to give it to Joe. Congrats on that. That's how that works, so everybody has to comment back, correct? Oh yeah, but I know, matt, where's it at?
Speaker 3:Well, yeah, but I know, matt, where's it at. Well, yeah, there you go.
Speaker 1:There we go, framing it All right.
Speaker 4:There you go. Yeah, he's framing it. He's going to frame it Make it official, Matt.
Speaker 3:you need us to sign it.
Speaker 4:You want all of us to sign it, or what?
Speaker 1:Ooh, I could stamp on it. This is not a lab I'll stamp something on it if you want me to. This is not a search for a fix in my golf game. Yeah, this won't help me. Uh, oh, what's this? They haven't told you. It's not a but no, it's a real wedge.
