349: From VGN Finals Drama To YouTube Golf’s Rise

CHASING DAYLIGHT

Send us a text

A Vegas suite hack for twenty bucks, a league finals field that won’t sit still, and a live-commerce ecosystem flirting with gambling mechanics—this one goes deep into how modern golf really works off the scorecard. We pull back the curtain on the VGN finals, why flights and formats matter, and how to reward the golfers who actually show up. If you’ve ever wondered where community ends and chaos begins, this conversation lands squarely on the side of people, not spin wheels.

We talk Whatnot frankly: the thrill, the fatigue, and the difference between building a brand and pushing a gimmick. Our take is simple—trust wins. Know your value, pick your rooms wisely, and support sellers who ship on time and stand behind their gear. From there, we go under the hood on putting. LAB’s zero-torque hype meets real data from GCQuad and SAM PuttLab, and we untangle confidence from placebo. Fitting still matters—length, lie, and grip can transform your roll—but nothing replaces reps. Add in course context (Aliante’s deceptively quick greens vs TPC Vegas perfection) and you get why “feel” changes overnight.

Then we tackle the big culture shift: are creators now more influential than pros? YouTube golf packages story, access, and personality at scale. Pros still move tech, but creators demo gear up close and talk you through every choice. The likely future is both—tour validation plus creator intimacy. Along the way, we share a better cart-ride playbook after a meltdown, shout out Garsen Grip with a listener hookup, and lay out how to keep league golf fun, competitive, and fair for the diehards.

Tap play, join the conversation, and tell us where you stand on creators vs pros, putter fittings vs marketing, and the right way to handle that silent cart ride. If you’re new here, follow the show, share it with a golf buddy, and drop a review—your support keeps this community rolling.

SPEAKER_01:

We're four golf nerds from Vegas that absolutely love to talk about the game. We've got the podcast, we've got a golf league, I've got a build shop, Joe's got a whatnot show, Dan has titles galore, and Jeremy is the one that keeps us all sane. So uh thank you so much for being here tonight. And uh hopefully we can get some good conversations going. If you're following along on YouTube, thank you so much for being here. Make sure to drop a comment in the the chat. Uh let us know what's going on. Uh, you got anything topics you want to discuss, anything you want to uh get in on fireway, let's roll. Uh, but before you do any of that, please hit that like button. Likes don't cost a thing, they're free, and they show us some support, and uh, we appreciate it. So uh hit that like button, leave a comment, let's get into some golf talk. How you boys doing tonight? Chilling, doing good, doing good? How was your staycation?

SPEAKER_03:

It was good. So, I mean, for all those that are coming to Vegas, uh, a little tip. All right, I mean, I I know there's a lot of people from whatnot coming to Vegas soon.

SPEAKER_01:

Just may just cost you 20 bucks, so be careful.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, yeah. Throw 20 between your ID and your credit card and just be very cordial and nice to the reservation person at the front desk. It'll cost you 20 bucks, but uh, you know, we had we got a fucking full-on suite upgrade. I mean, it was bigger than our first uh our first apartment that we had. It was huge. It looked crazy.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, it looked massive.

SPEAKER_03:

It was huge, it was huge.

SPEAKER_01:

So yeah, we want a bunch of black chips at the table.

SPEAKER_03:

So exactly Vegas Pro tip. I mean, it doesn't have to be a 20, throw a five, a 10. I mean, the more you give, probably the better it's gonna be. But I always throw a 20, you know. 20 is fair. Those guys don't get tipped. The front desk does not get tipped, they don't work on tips, so uh, if they're it's not promised every time, but if if it's available, they're gonna give it to you. Shout out, Bertie, in a can in the house. Let's go. But yeah, it was good, it was good. Uh living on the strip uh for a night was wild. I haven't been to the strip in a long time.

SPEAKER_01:

And did you guys go out and walk the street at all?

SPEAKER_03:

A little bit. We went over to Caesars Palace, ate at Stanton's Social Prime, which was excellent. Really server sucked, but the food was really good. Um, you know, when you throw in your reservation and you say anniversary, and they're like at the front desk, they're like, Hey, happy anniversary. And then the server they didn't tell the server, and he's just kind of like a dick for a while, and then he realizes at the end, he's like, Oh, I I get I got you something, you know, the entire it was one of those, yeah. So uh he caught up at the end, but uh really cool little place. Uh it was our seventh year anniversary. We uh KD was throwing down chips, we did digital roulette chips on the seven, won a couple times on there. I always bet 23 on roulette, I knew it was coming, and at the end of it, 23 hit because I always bet the Jordan, always. Um but it hit, so uh we walked away up for gambling wise.

SPEAKER_00:

Nice.

SPEAKER_03:

Um Flamingo Hilton and down Link, and everything has changed. I haven't been there in a long time. Wild, isn't it? It's crazy. I I was a part of a uh street show, I was part of a street show, and uh yeah, it was cool. Liquid death, show liquid death. Tag liquid death, let's get to sponsorship.

SPEAKER_01:

We all love liquid death, yeah. Dude, it was so funny. I I didn't know how big Liquid Death was. I I had no idea, and so I tagged him in that one post saying we need to talk. They look, they've got seven and a half million followers. Like, holy shit, that's not happening. I don't know, yeah, that would be nice. It is a it is a very tasty berries. It's very good, though. Got some killer cola today, and uh got three different variants of the tea.

SPEAKER_03:

So I like to have this in the fridge.

SPEAKER_01:

So uh no golf for Joe this past week. What it uh the last week you were depressed, said it'd been three weeks, it'd been eight days.

SPEAKER_03:

We're on day 26.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, it's been a while for you. Uh are you going to play with us Sunday?

SPEAKER_03:

Sunday, uh no, I don't think so. But I am gonna play Tuesday. The golf homie is in town. Uh, me and Dan are gonna play. I'm off next week, so um I'm available except Tuesday currently. Um uh preferably around 9, 9:30 time. I'm in. Hit me up on Instagram. I'm there Monday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. I'm there. Let me know. I gotta work on my game, get it dialed in. Well, the his golf homie, JP. He knows Dan. And his his co-workers coming too. So um, but nice.

SPEAKER_01:

Where are you guys going?

SPEAKER_03:

Uh, we are doing Boulder Creek. Uh yeah, we're gonna we're gonna get to play some golf finally. But I'm open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 9 to 10 tea time. Let's go. Hit me up. I'll play every day. I gotta get dialed in for the VGM finals because I am not playing good golf currently. It's been too long. I'm so tight. Like my muscles are a fucking rubber band.

SPEAKER_01:

You know, Sienna this Friday, 8:36. There you go. Oh, it's next week you're off.

SPEAKER_03:

Next Friday, next, next Friday, next, next third, next week. Next week, I'm gonna take all next week off. Hey, I mean, I mean I might even be down for rain session, cloud nine. I don't know, North Las Vegas part three. I gotta get some swings in because uh your boy has not been swinging it very often. And uh the VGN finals, we need to we need to we need to secure some wins and walk away up.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, the VGN finals has turned into a shit show. Uh I I don't know. We're the the board meeting is gonna be a good one this year. I can't wait. It's gonna be a good one. Yeah, the we started off with 60, we're down to 50, maybe 48 by the time the show is over.

SPEAKER_03:

So we just need more people to move to Vegas and join Vegas Golf Network.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, I think we just need more people that need to understand that you're playing for a season-long you know, title to try and get into the VGN finals. It's and you also cannot please everybody. No, you can't please everybody. And you know, this is the first year that we've had it up to 60. It it had been 40.

SPEAKER_03:

So that's why the government shut down. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Can't please everybody. Can't please everybody. So I don't know, we'll see. I I got some ideas that uh we may change some things up uh next year and uh get rid of the season-long point system and just just have flights and uh be the the finals be an invite only. You know, not earned on points, but earned on uh how you played, how many times you played, stuff like that. You know, give the people that want to be there an opportunity versus those that don't.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I mean, I think I mean I get that.

SPEAKER_01:

I mean it's I I get it. It's tough. You know, we everybody's got lives, everybody's got plans, everybody's got things going on, shit happens. That's true, yeah. You know, it it's and I expect that. I expect that. So you know I mean can't be too can't be too upset.

SPEAKER_03:

Getting getting that many people together on a on a designated day to play golf in a tournament. And this is a two-day error, so it's exactly it's a two-day error. I mean, it's hard enough to get us four together every single Tuesday night at a certain time, you know.

SPEAKER_01:

So we're looking to join you next year. Awesome.

SPEAKER_03:

Jump, come on out.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, come on, Adrian. And we need some sticks, we need some sticks. Dan is getting tired of winning. Everybody else is getting tired of committing. Um everybody else is getting tired of Dan winning.

SPEAKER_03:

Uh, and you have probably so many gift cards. What I found out, which I've been doing with all my gift cards, I've been uploading them into my Apple Pay. Yeah, just use them as Apple Pay now until they run out.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah. That's a perk of the video.

SPEAKER_03:

I found I found one in my cart and one in my wallet today. It had 196 bucks on it. It's like I didn't even know I had a hundred and ninety-six dollar gift card in my wallet.

SPEAKER_01:

You could have put that towards your entry fee that's due Friday.

SPEAKER_03:

So uh no, because you can't split payments on golf genius, but I can I mean I could Venmo it to you if I upload it there.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, you can.

SPEAKER_03:

Or I can buy I can buy Nike Irons and trade you. I have some.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh no, I I have yeah, I went to I was so excited. I I had that old UST um uh shaft that I was gonna put in that, but it's too short. Like, oh, it's too short. It's it's like the the length of a a six of four or of like a five iron, not put in what uh three iron, one of those what Joe shows in is it what Joe just showed that Nike three.

SPEAKER_03:

No, I have a volt one that you still have for me. I still need a shaft for. You have my green volt Nike three iron.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, so I I mean I just I just don't have a 370 shaft that's three iron pro combo three iron. I have like four of these. I have like one my light out. Yeah, I have like three of these slingshot three iron. Nobody can see that, Joe.

SPEAKER_00:

Motherfucker, dude.

SPEAKER_01:

Keep on telling you, you you you need a light, you need to get the proper light, Joe. Dan's getting ready to get busy. We're creating a mood around here. We're we're moody.

SPEAKER_05:

My furniture's coming.

SPEAKER_01:

Dan is getting ready to steal the show here and like finally bring bring some heat.

SPEAKER_05:

All this all this plainness is gonna be gone. I'm actually gonna have like golfing in a phoning in from the dungeon.

SPEAKER_03:

There you go. Better, better, better, better.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, hey, is that a golf club in your hand?

SPEAKER_03:

It's right here. I you know, I had I I'm just trying to curate moods, trying to get it vibey up in here, you know what I mean? Yeah, but you're trying to show something, so it's yeah, this guy. Yeah, pro this is a sandwich. I have so much shit.

SPEAKER_05:

Is that all from take five? Is that that Nike black?

SPEAKER_03:

Uh yeah, these are from Take Five. Um, yeah, um, which one? I got that. Oh shit.

SPEAKER_05:

I can see Joe.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, look at that.

SPEAKER_03:

This is super cleany boys, cleany boys, cleany boys. I have like four of these I need shafts for. Ah, and then these guys.

SPEAKER_05:

Chunky boys, chunky boys, slingshots were awesome.

SPEAKER_03:

Those things I got fucking three or four of these, dude.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh, dude, you put an X100 in that thing and just launch it.

SPEAKER_03:

This one's got the like the gram sticker on it, too. Cleaning boys, but uh, I also have a shit ton of fairway fairway wood cover uh heads, and uh yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Coming to a whatnot show soon.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, when when when they're built, and we and then we got ferrels, we got ferrils here too. So we're gonna have cool ferals on them too. When do we get there? When do we get there?

SPEAKER_01:

What feral did you get?

SPEAKER_03:

Well, I still have all these albatross ferrels. Shout out albatross ferrels.

SPEAKER_01:

Nice.

SPEAKER_03:

I got all those. I still have these that I gotta throw on the Mizunos. Are these the ones? I got these BB and F codes that I gotta throw on the yeah, these ones for my Mazunos that I'm stacking away trying to trying to create some uh oh, very Halloweeny influencer, influencer with the hand behind it. Let's go. I got Ben Hogan, dude. I I got so too much shit. Uh John Perez, whatnot is becoming a joke. Uh oh, hot taste. Oh, uh oh. Careful, careful. I can see where you're coming from with that. What's your point though? Why, why so? But I I get it.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, there's there's a lot of people on the buying side, on the selling side, like honestly.

SPEAKER_03:

Hey, you know, we rep other podcasts, and uh, you know, you have way more hours in your week than just listening to Chasen Alabama podcast. Go listen to um Three Off the T, Four Wright, Uncle Church, and Smoky's podcast. They've been around on whatnot for a long time, and they give insights into selling on whatnot, how they started. And uh I agree with a lot of stuff that they're saying. Um but yeah. And they're giving away a Scotty Butter, too. The podcast for listening to the podcast, for commenting, subscribing, and liking. Yeah, and it's being announced tomorrow.

SPEAKER_01:

So yeah, there it is. Nothing but a gambling site, nothing but sixty-dollar sleeves,$70 bags of teas, etc.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, you're gonna you gotta, I mean, you gotta find the yeah, gotta find the sellers that are selling.

SPEAKER_01:

I I agree, I agree with you there, John, for sure. That's a lot of horse shit. Yep. And that was one of my comments is how sustainable is that for how long?

SPEAKER_03:

No, I and I think a lot of those guys are not gonna last that long. Yeah, you know. Um so it's you gotta offer one thing they talked about on that podcast three out the tea, was like creating a brand. And I was on late night with Gott Paint, who is in the chat still, I believe, and I was talking about I've had hit and greens for five or six years before I even got on there, and I was like, I'm thankful that Hit and Greens has been around and the podcast as well. Like, podcast is a brand, hit and greens is a brand, and uh also Vegas Golf Network. So it's like thankful to have that before even doing it. But a lot of people jump in there thinking there's this lucrative market, you know, and you're gonna sell sixty, seventy dollar sleeves every time. If you give away Scotty, you're gonna sell 30, 70, and everybody's calculating it in their head, you're gonna make 2300 bucks and you bought a$500 Scotty, and that's just not how it works. You have to build a you have to first of all, you have to build a following, you have to be likable, and you have people have to trust you that you're gonna deliver their packages and you have to deliver good stuff and uh be likable, really, like and deliver. Yeah, be likeable, deliver.

SPEAKER_01:

I know I when I first started watching a lot of whatnot, there wasn't a ton of people doing that. Yeah, right. And now it seems like that's all people do.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, the whole cleany boys thing just gets it.

SPEAKER_03:

Uh and that's what I that's what I love about it, is like it gives people the opportunity to like engage and be themselves. Like cleany boys, like for us is so fucking funny because I never would have said that, you know, and I was put on the spot on that show on whatnot, and it's a term that is fucking hilarious now because I just said it one night and it's it's stuck, it's fucking funny, dude.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh, it's fucking hilarious.

SPEAKER_03:

Cleany boys, cleany boys. But yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, it's I was uh it's kind of disheartening now, though, when you turn it on, because I used to be able to, you know, doom scroll on whatnot and watch shows and watch shows, and now it's it's like you know, here's here's a chrome or uh, you know, super soft sleeve, uh$35 gets you in the buyers.

SPEAKER_03:

You know, it's like it's definitely very gambling, like yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

You know, it's just that that's that's not entertaining to me, and that's that side of whatnot, I think, is is kind of slipping away. The entertaining factor, um, the the characters. I mean, you have to have a personality. Yeah, that's one of the reasons I haven't done it, because nobody's gonna sit around and watch me talk because I I don't I don't have a you know, I don't have an amazing personality.

SPEAKER_03:

It's tough enough as it is on the podcast.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, that's why I have three other people here with me. You know, because it's it's it's not easy, you know, it's not easy, and I'm a bitter old man, and you know, I yeah, it's a different different generation that's out there.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I think I mean, like I've obviously calmed down a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot. Like, uh, and you know, I I say it all the time. I support those that support me. I'll jump in your show if I'm able to when I have time, or and I'll I'll buy one of your shitty ball markers every once in a while, or you know, I'll I'll do whatever I can, you know, support those that support you is what I say all the time. And uh thankful for everyone, but it's it's a lot of fun when you find your groove in it, it's a lot of fun, and uh you know guys like tradition can't make it because the whatnot customer wants cheap towels. No, yeah, I do yeah, he brings quality in it. That's the hard part, and that's yeah, that's the thing. Like, it's a lot of new golfers, and that's why if you go back into the Chase of Daylight podcast archives, we are true golfers, golf nerds, and we want to teach you about the ways of dope golf, right? And that's that's one of my sh shticks, if you will. Like, I want to treat I want to teach you the dope shit. Like, I'm not I don't want to sell you garbage. And um so that's one of those things, man. There's there's a lot to learn in in golf, and I don't even know it at all. There, like, there's a lot of shit I don't know, but I I know a good amount, and there's people that know less than me or us, and there's a lot of people that know more than all of us combined, so it's it's education as much as teaching. It's the same shit, but yeah, uh, you know what I'm saying. Like, yep, a lot of people are new to the game of golf, and um I want to I want to teach them about the dope ways of the game.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, it's kind of seemed like to me that it was a great way for people that are new to the game to grab some gear and not get raped on it, you know. And yeah, yeah, and then it then it quickly turned into now those people are are hooked on the app, and now all it is is buy this sleeve for 35 bucks and try to win a Scotty, and you know, it's like oh it's a Scotty, this has got to be something important. So, okay, I'll throw in my 35 bucks, blah blah blah. And it's just it's taken away from me uh a great opportunity for people to you know get some gear or get some you know nice stuff and not pay the crazy eBay fees.

SPEAKER_03:

Here, here's the thing I'll say got pain is 100 correct, and I'll throw this up. If you're buying a sleeve for$35, it is on you 100%. Don't be in that show, find something else, don't swipe on that. Okay, like if if you know the worth of it, if you want to a chance to win something, then do it. But that's it's entirely on you, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

And you can't complain about it if you do it.

SPEAKER_03:

You cannot complain, it's on you. You're the one. Like, there was one time. There's one time where I I've heard all I've seen, all the excuses. My son swiped, my grandma dropped her teeth, you know, all that shit. There is one time where Theo actually I was putting him to bed, and he actually swiped on something for me, and I won one time. And uh I wanna I want a putter that was a little overpriced, but you know, that's on me. I was watching, I had the app open, I was putting my son away down for uh the night, and it's on me. You're you're the one tuning in. If you don't like what you're watching, watch someone else, swipe responsibly. Yeah, so here got paint. Where uh where did got paint?

SPEAKER_05:

At least it's got good taste. Was it nice butter?

SPEAKER_03:

It was uh Taylor-made rosa, really pretty cleany boys. Um, I still have it, it'll be on a show at some point. Um, but Dan got paint is 100% right. The way I see it, you win some, you lose some. Absolutely 100% correct. But whatnot is to me, is you're investing in a community of like-minded people. I see that totally. Um, and it's it's a way to it's it's a way to connect.

SPEAKER_01:

I see that with some shows, not all the shows.

SPEAKER_03:

No, yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_01:

The majority of the shows I'm seeing right now are spend 35 bucks on this, you know, 10 cent trinket to try and win a Scotty.

SPEAKER_03:

There's a learning curve.

SPEAKER_01:

There's a learning curve. And it's just it's turned me off from the app, it's made me not go on it as much. You know, I I turn all my notifications off except for maybe three shows. Um, and I just it's it's been a lot more enjoyable not sitting there, you know uh getting frustrated that oh, come on, let's sell some stuff. Let's not no, I yeah, I get it. I'm tuning in this app because I want to see different products, and you know, that's one of the reasons I enjoy Take Five so much, is because it's just product after that.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, and he's bringing stuff you don't see all of a sudden, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

And that that for me is entertaining, you know.

SPEAKER_03:

Uh yeah, and that's another that's that's the thing. You gotta find the people you like to watch. You don't have to dive into every show, you don't have to buy something from everyone. Um, like I enjoy Thrifty's polo show because, like, you know, logos from courses I hope to play one day. I'll never wear them because I don't wear polos, I don't play, but like the stuff you can see on that app is is is really cool, and you know, there's people doing it right and there's people doing it wrong, just like everything. And there's people not fixing their ball marks to revere.

SPEAKER_01:

Um, dude, you know what as terrible as Aliante. Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_03:

Aliante was bad with the ball marks. You gotta you find your people, you'll be fine. You don't have to, you don't have to buy every something from everyone, you don't have to watch everyone's shows.

SPEAKER_01:

This is true, this is true. Just find your people. They're amazing people on there.

SPEAKER_03:

That is true, and that's just like the game of golf.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, so speaking of Aliante, for those not aware, Dan won again. Um of the season, his 13th win overall. Um I didn't even look see how much money you won this year. Did you I could probably bring it up here in a second. I'll look and see. But uh highest point total ever. Uh most money won. Uh just accolade after accolade after accolade.

SPEAKER_03:

Dan's gonna be by a Birkin.

SPEAKER_01:

And no, no disrespect to Dan, but we need some more players in the Diamonds flight. No disrespect to Jay, who's a damn good golfer as well. But we need some more golfers to give some Dan some competition. So this is a cry out to all you scratch or plus golfers out there that like playing tournament golf, that don't want to pay exorbitant entry fees for mini tours and just want to play some competitive golf. Come to the VGN. We we need you, we need you. We started off really strong this year, had a had a good opportunity to have a lot of guys in that flight, and slowly, slowly, slowly, it just started dwindling off. And uh it sucks, but because I want you know, I want every we have three events with 30 guys in the spades flight, which that's that's awesome. That's a that's a lot of guys you have to beat. You know, that's that's a tournament for a lot of these leagues around here. Um, so having that many that many players in a flight, I would love to see you know 20 players in a flight across all four flights. I think if we could get you know 80 guys a tournament, 20 in each flight, it would just be incredible. So Dan, congrats to you. Hats off. Thank you. There's it's very, very unlikely that you lose. He's he's tired of winning. He's yawning. Well, he didn't get player of the year last year, so yeah.

SPEAKER_05:

I didn't play much last year, but uh Trey got that.

SPEAKER_01:

So Trey's coming for a back to back. Vic is going for a back to back.

SPEAKER_03:

Of course, Vic is.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh uh Drop will be going for a back to back.

SPEAKER_03:

Um, so I'll be in clubs next year, and then the next year I'll be in arts at this rate.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh lowest flight is the club's flight. It's uh handicapped 16 uh to 25. We cap it at 25. 25, cap. Yeah, that's the max 25. And we play off the low net, so you're getting you know, the the most strokes you'll get is off of 16. So that's nine strokes. That's the most that's the most strokes you'll get in an event.

SPEAKER_03:

Nori, there's four flights. There is no strokes, and then clubs, which is what that's uh low low net spades, spades is three to nine nine, and then clubs and hearts, hearts, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Jesus, it's like Joe's has never played in the league.

SPEAKER_03:

I still don't even know what the division I'm in. I don't even know what division I'm in. I get confused too sometimes. Uh I mean, if I was in diamonds, it would be very easy. I'd be like, I'm a diamond, I'm Rihanna. Shouldn't buy like a diamond, Joe. There we go. Easy.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh so yeah, we played out at Aliante. We had a 730 shotgun that didn't start until 740 through no fault of our own.

SPEAKER_05:

Um that was a little upsetting, but uh two times in front of us.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh yeah, yeah. You slip the starter some money, they'll throw you out there, even in front of a scheduled shotgun.

SPEAKER_02:

So yep, shout out Kyle.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yep, exactly.

SPEAKER_03:

Kyle out there slipping in between VGN.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, so we had to uh he played in the event.

SPEAKER_03:

So probably told some about it. Yeah, at least it wasn't an hour later, you know.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, no, no. I mean, it was nice and cool in the morning, it was beautiful out there, there wasn't much wind. Um, course was in you know good shape for for Aliante. It wasn't I thought the greens were okay, but a lot of ball marks, a lot of ball marks, a lot of bumpy. Yeah, they were deceptively fast, which they didn't look fast. Like visually, they looked they just rolled out, they rolled slow, but my god, everything rolled out.

SPEAKER_03:

They rolled well or no? Uh for the most part, for the most part.

SPEAKER_05:

I mean, it was to fix some ball marks for sure.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I mean, I my problem was I played TBC Vegas on Friday, on Thursday, and the greens about there were perfect. I mean, like, perfect. And uh then you go out, this guy. Yeah, you go out to Eliante and they looked good, and then you hit the putt, you know, it's like, well, they look a little, they feel soft, they're a little slow, and you hit the putt and it rolls 10 feet past the cup, and you're like, what the fuck was that? Um, so then I was tentative all day and and just you know didn't have didn't have a good putting performance. It was like I played well all across the board of it. My putting surprisingly is what led me astray. I had three three putts, and those were my three double bogeys that would have, you know, had I made those putts, would have been it would have been in second place. I'll do it to you.

SPEAKER_03:

Short game, short game, short game.

SPEAKER_01:

Yep, yep, yep. But I did squeak into the finals.

SPEAKER_03:

Thankfully, because my way of cancellation, by way of people saying they're not coming.

SPEAKER_01:

So hey, anyway you can get there, yeah. You're in.

SPEAKER_05:

Hey, I'm only qualifying for a tour event, bro.

SPEAKER_03:

Dude, honestly, that's the first alternate you get in. Yeah, that's always my goal is you know, I want to win a tournament, but always my goal is just be there at the end of the year, always. Because I mean, what was that two, three years ago? Remember that when we were at when we were at Revere, and that first day I was like five under through nine, and I fucking shit bricks and I had Sucked after that, but it was like I was like the bottom, and I was like, oh damn, there's a chance because I was lighting it up. But always my goal be be in it at the end of the year. Yep.

SPEAKER_01:

Be in it at the end of the year.

SPEAKER_03:

Be be the tour player champion.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, that's the main goal. So now we'll have uh uh we got two days, uh the November 15th and 16th at Revere. We're playing Lexington on Saturday, and then after the round, we have a uh buffet that will have uh for 40 players. So afterwards, everybody can congregate, hang out, and uh hi Colleen. Hi, Colleen. Thank you, and everybody can hang out and get what they want to eat and and have a good time, and then Sunday we will play Concord, and then everybody can hang out at uh Moorhead afterwards, so we don't have to worry about uh a wedding party or anything like that crashing our finals like we had last time we were at Revere.

SPEAKER_03:

So yeah, yeah, hey everybody uh bye shit show, god who's going to Roberto's, who's going to Rebellion?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, no shit.

SPEAKER_01:

So um, yeah. That's that's what I got on the on the VGN. So uh sign-ups are open now. If you want to join, the link's available on the website. Go hit us up. I just got I just found out that uh golf genius jacked up their prices again for the third straight year in a row.

SPEAKER_03:

Shut out golf genius, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

So it's like you know, in order for us to be competitive and compete in this growing age of blah blah blah, we were finding that we were gonna have to increase our prices$375.

SPEAKER_03:

Uh your software's already built.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, they haven't updated that the software in a long time.

SPEAKER_05:

I mean, there's server season went up. How much how much is it to build an app?

SPEAKER_06:

Oh, it'd be a lot more than that, than what we pay. Yeah, because it's like what is it, four grand a year?

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06:

Well, it's 42.

SPEAKER_05:

It's four grand a year for golf genius. Yeah, yeah. Holy shit.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, there's expenses to this shit.

SPEAKER_05:

Yeah, let's build an app then. Let's fucking do one that's better than golf genius.

SPEAKER_03:

Would it so would it would it be if how much is it, Jeremy? How much do you think it would cost to build that? Because is it worth building it for two years of VGN or like what's the return rate?

SPEAKER_06:

I mean the return rate.

SPEAKER_03:

What I'm saying is is like, is is that is it worth doing it for three years? Maybe maybe four or five years. Okay, yeah. Should have started it first year, bro.

SPEAKER_06:

Yeah, I mean, it's there's a lot in it. Like it's it's on the outside, it's just a simple thing, but behind the scenes, like you're connecting to USGA, you're yeah, yeah. A lot of server servers. But I mean, it's it's doable for sure, but it's it would be expensive.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, we're um talk about German doing just a small VGN app, you know, won't have live scoring or anything like that, but just maybe an easier way for us to communicate with everybody.

SPEAKER_03:

Um, and I'm sure it'll connect you to the Chasin Daylight podcast as well.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, of course, absolutely. Oh, yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_06:

We had a when I ran a men's league up in Utah, we had an app sort of that was created by the previous guy that I maintained, and it was like it was basically golf genius where you could track your points and see all the rounds, and every all the scores were in, and it was cool. It was, but it was like nothing, it was like five percent of what golf genius is, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

And even that was a lot, so but it's I mean, there's there's other variants out there, um, but they're like blue teas, but blue teas is crazy expensive. Um, I got an app guy. Hey, got paints, got an app guy. Um we got an app guy too. We did we did 18 birdies the very first year, and uh that sucked because uh some people, uh one of them being on the screen right now, refused to download the app, so it made it hard for everybody to uh you know be involved and and track scores because some people didn't want to do it, so um yeah, but it wasn't it wasn't fluid either.

SPEAKER_03:

Like it was no, it wasn't fluid, it wasn't fluid.

SPEAKER_01:

It it's getting better. 18 Birdies is getting better on that side, but I think they kind of gave up on that tournament side of things. They went hard at it, and then once I think they realized, oh shit, this is gonna take a lot more money, yeah, and we're never gonna get to the level that Blue Tease and Golf Genius is at. So, no, let's go.

SPEAKER_03:

I mean, it's it's one of those things, even like like loop. We used to use loop all the time, and then they started charging per bet, and it was like, uh no. Yeah, we haven't used it since. No, I think it's gone. I looked for it on the app store the other day, and it's gone.

SPEAKER_01:

I think it's called something else now, isn't it?

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, yeah, I'm not sure. I was talking to barrels the other day, and he yeah, they changed the name of it. And the thing is, speaking of, did you run the did you run the giveaway for everybody?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, of course.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay, just making sure.

SPEAKER_01:

It's rolling.

SPEAKER_03:

Don't know what we're giving away, but we're giving away something. All you gotta do is comment.

SPEAKER_01:

And Joe's gonna ship it.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I got it. All right, we're gonna give we're gonna give away a loop towel. We're gonna give away a loop towel, easy money towel, easy money golf towel for the giveaway. Easy money golf.

SPEAKER_01:

That's what it changed to, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_03:

Is it easy money now? I think easy sounds. I know, I think it's a lead. I was talking to barrels. I got like 25 of those things downstairs.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, yeah. Good lord.

SPEAKER_03:

But it was a fun app, and it's like the moment you you started. You start as free, and then you know, it was at first, I think it was free, and then it started as the person who created the game was charged a dollar, and then after that, it changed to everybody that's playing in the game is charged a dollar, yeah, or something, dollar fifty. And it was and after that, I was like, oh, yeah, it wasn't money in their account. It was just it was just fees, it was just fees, fees, fees, which I understand, but a dollar, I mean, uh I'd start the game, get charged the dollar, fine. You know, I lose, I lose, whatever. I win, I win. A dollar to have an app track the scores for you and and automatically transfer the money. I'm down for a dollar. Yeah, but the moment when everybody was getting charged the dollar was no, I don't want to play, I'm getting charged a dollar. Yeah, you know, that type of situation. Like, dude, it's just a dollar. You could win, you could win five dollars.

SPEAKER_01:

Think of that, and then pay a fee.

SPEAKER_03:

Ridiculous. So I mean, that's whatnot in itself, right? There, like that. That's the fucking that's that's the spin games right there.

SPEAKER_01:

All right. Uh, much love for Garson Golf. Uh, please use the code daylight15 on their website, Garsengolf.com. Get yourself a grip like this, uh, Garson Quateur. Um, great grip, 15% off your total purchase. Use our code. And uh yeah, we're gonna leave that on the screen for anybody in case you want to do it. Uh chatted with them uh over the weekend. Uh Garson's very happy with us. Uh, we're very happy with them. And uh we have some exciting stuff coming on uh soon. The there's a uh holiday box that we're gonna be have, we're gonna be showing. Probably gonna give one of those away to somebody. It's gonna come with three grips, a towel, I think a hat. Um, and that's gonna be for sale. Uh, we'll have links for that. Um, and then also we're in the talks for a custom CDP grip. So that's good. Uh if if anybody likes our new vibrant yellow colorway, um, yeah, we're we're hoping to get something like that with uh Chasing Daylight down the side. So yeah, yeah. We will see Mox Moxa coming.

SPEAKER_02:

So yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

And if you're in town and you want to try out the Garson Grips, hit me up. I I've got uh a bunch in the shop. Uh, I can show you, and um it works out really well. You could just uh if I have one in stock, uh I'll throw it on. You can order it from Garson and have it shipped to my house to replenish my stock, and you can be out of here in one day.

SPEAKER_03:

So you know what we should do is for that that uh bird gang drunk dolphin situation at Revere in February, have a bunch of those lined up. Try the grips.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, yeah, we can do that.

SPEAKER_03:

That's easy. Because a lot a lot of these whatnot guys are coming and they don't know. We're teaching, we're here to educate. They're fuck, they're great grips. And if you want to try them out, use code daylight15 at checkout.

SPEAKER_01:

What day is that event?

SPEAKER_03:

February 20th, 2026. Oh, that's right, 20, right before our first Bubba for the win and Grunked Offer uh tournament. Also, are you are you guys in for for it? 200 bucks at Revere. I I okay. Look at many. I know, I know it's a Friday, right? Uh yeah, it's a Friday. Vanderslice wants to play. Yeah, I'm down. I know you are, Dan. Jeremy, you're down? Yeah, I'm down. Because there's only 140 spots. Dad GM. Dad, are you in or not?

SPEAKER_01:

I I I don't know my work schedule yet because February, it's it could be busy if the new stuff is out.

SPEAKER_03:

J Jason, you still here? You want it? Kidding. I'm just saying, we got we gotta we we gotta figure that out. But if you guys are coming, uh, we might have some Garson grip. I'll have Garson Grip on my putter. You can try it. You know, uh Dan will, Jeremy will.

SPEAKER_05:

We all got them.

SPEAKER_03:

Maybe Matt just mans the station with the Garson grips and uh gives you the code uh for checkout on on Garson Goss.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh Daylight 15. Daylight 15.

SPEAKER_06:

You can you can install them out of the back of the atlas.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh, there we go.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, set up a mobile station. Yeah, you just get a bunch and then you just create a little mobile grip station.

SPEAKER_00:

Actually, not a bad idea.

SPEAKER_03:

With the purchase.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Um good idea.

SPEAKER_01:

All right, so I got two two more things we can chat about. Um, got got a little hate on uh the the lab lab video, uh uh rehashing some old memories here. If everybody remembers the uh post that I put out that uh you know, with the jailbird showing the the head twisting, yada yada yada. Uh blue up got a ton of views, and that's what spiral. That's what connected us with Sam and uh somebody. How many views now? Uh it's got 1.4 on Instagram. And I don't know what it has on YouTube. I have to look and see. Oh, actually, I I I have it right here because it's a lot. Let's see. It has uh 60,000 views on on uh YouTube. Um hang on. That's not what I wanted to.

SPEAKER_03:

Hey, y'all guys, FYI. All you have to do to get into the giveaway is comment and you have to be here present. I see a lot of viewers dropping. You gotta hang out, be here for the pool, comment if you haven't, and you're getting something sent your way. Totally free. 99.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh, so the this was the hey, this is where it started. Uh Papa dash bogey. Uh, no, it's not why they what they want you to think. What they demonstrate is the fact that non-zero torque, non-lie angle balance putters have a tendency to open through the stroke, and this needs to be overcome and compensated for by the player. It's no longer a gimmick. Every major putter manufacturer now offers some form of zero torque putters. My Gallspy has tested and shown the zero torque putter is superior as short and medium-length putts, uh, which somebody replied to his comment. And then he came back with because they were saying, you know, if you're gonna be con by a thousand dollar putter, go ahead. Uh, so um he basically repeated uh try harder, understand the engineering and science behind the technology. Every single manufacturer is going to it. Um he says uh$1,000 question mark. Odyssey sells a ZT for$300, which is not true, it's more than that. Lab zone putters don't cost more than$600. Well, that's because they're$599, so you're gonna pay more than$600, um, which is less than a QI35 or G2T2. By the way, Sam Hahn was on the same channel one month later, and these dopes, these dopes had to backtrack their dopey demonstration. Look it up. Doping. We're doping. So uh, you know, I just basically asked, what did we backtrack on? Because I don't backtrack on the shit. Yeah, I let's so can we just for everybody for everybody that may not understand, my beef with Lab is only the revealer. I think Sam is awesome, I think what they're doing is awesome, I think they're a marketing machine, they know exactly what they're doing. They're selling good putters, they're selling the shit out of their putters. I have a problem with the revealer. That is it. That was what that post was about. That is what I think is a gimmick. Sam understands that. Sam knows it. They coined a phrase called revealer fatigue because of that video. So um Royal Mogie, calm the fuck down. Know your role, you don't know what you're talking about.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay, can we just say it doesn't matter how much money you spend on your putter or what your putter looks like, or if you have a lab or a spider or a ZT or a blade, or it matters if you drop putts and if it works for you, which is what we've always stood by. If it works for you, then it works for you. And we don't need a machine to tell us if it's gonna work for us. That's literally it at the end of the day. The machine, the the revealer is not your putting stroke. That's what Matt was saying in that video.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, we played uh with Sean Rowe yesterday, me and Julian did, and uh he's he has a uh Mez that he's putting with now, and he's like, I hate myself for it, but I'm putting great with it, you know. Get on him. That's it's all that matters.

SPEAKER_03:

Do you think there's a placebo effect, maybe like where it's like they're so lab is so good at marketing, and they're so good at like making you think you putt better with the putter that you actually putt better with the putter? Like, is there a placebo effect there?

SPEAKER_01:

Maybe there could be Sean is a stat guy, he keeps his stats. So, yeah, I mean, he's got the stats to back up that he is putting better. I don't know how many people are like that. I'd be curious to know. You know, I mean, there was people on that post that are saying I went to from a eight to a scratch handicap after getting my lab, and it's like, no, you didn't shut up. Um, yeah, you know, and it's it's just it's so so many people are are such idiots when it comes to it, you know, and and some people are super proud. Like, I'm I'm a lab guy and it's made me putt better, and blah blah blah, and they'll fucking die on that hill. And it's like, good for you, bro. Good for you.

SPEAKER_06:

I think that like it it what it comes down to, especially like for me, it's just confidence. Like, if you feel confident that the lab is gonna do what you think it's gonna do, then that's gonna help you feel confident about making putts. Could be the driver technology, it could be whatever it is. It's if whatever you make you feel confident. No, I'm not getting one. And come on, hey, hey, I would try one out. Honestly, I would I'd like to try them because I do like the feel of it.

SPEAKER_05:

But I was I was gonna try to talk you off that ledge, bro.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh no, I won't purchase one. I think that's the thing is what I was trying to say is like putting is confident, you have to have confidence, the ball's gonna go in the hole. Putting is totally feel confidence, and I think lab might be doing such a good job at marketing that they're they are instilling confidence in the people, and that's what I mean by placebo.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, yeah, I know what you mean. Yeah, I mean it it that very much could be the case. I mean, I I still see a ton of people putting with lab putters that haven't a whole lot of people. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

We need to call Harvard, we get Harvard on this.

SPEAKER_01:

You know, I was I was I was chatting with uh uh the guy from Please Let Us Golf, and because they had Sam on recently, and uh I told him, I said uh before Jeremy showed up at TPC Vegas, uh I was on the putting green and and I sent him a message. I go, dude, there's 10 people on the putting green right now, eight of them have labs, the other person has the square to square Odyssey putter that looks like a lab. Like, what the fuck is going on? And so I was I was watching and like maybe three of those people had a decent putting stroke.

SPEAKER_03:

Maybe bring back bullseyes, fuck it. Everything's a bullseye now. Fuck it. Oh yeah. Hill shaft blade, baby.

SPEAKER_05:

Let's go. There we go.

SPEAKER_01:

New new putter tech has been banned. Gotta go with a gotta go with the bullseye starting in 2027. Everybody putts with a bullseye. Oh, that would see that's some shit that I would love to see. I would love to see a tournament where PGA tour, four-day event, everybody has to have a bullseye in their bag. That's everybody's got the same putter. Let's see what happens.

SPEAKER_03:

David says, Do you believe in putter fitting? Can that really help? Have you guys ever been fit for putters? Absolutely, it can help.

SPEAKER_01:

Absolutely it can help. There's now, especially nowadays, with like we use the GC quad for our putting. Uh, we also have Sam putt lab, um, but we use the GC quad because now it's mobile, you can take it to the putting green. And uh, I was out there before Jeremy showed up putting with it with the quad. And the data that you can get and what you can figure out, it's remarkable. It's absolutely absolutely unbelievable that what you can dial in with a putter fitting if you have the right deck.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, I mean, I've been I've been fit by it by a putter or for putter uh from Julian at uh Club Champion, and I brought my putter to him, my strokes gained. Shout out Neil Wars the legend, fuck the Panthers, go knights, but Neil's is still Neil's still a legend. Um yeah, and I brought my putter there, and and Julian was like, This putter was made for you. He's like, There, I there's nothing we we don't need to bend it, we don't have to adjust the lie angle. I mean, that's the thing. You get really deep.

SPEAKER_01:

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what? I'm a lab guy, but I just took a Scotty out and I'm putting the Scotty in the bag.

SPEAKER_03:

Okay, my man, please. But that's the thing, though, too. Like, I was going into that, like that putter was made for me, and you know, no adjustments, but with the terrarium, because I won the terrarium from Scout, and I've been putting crazy with it, right? And sometimes if you're not putting well, you just need to change it up for a day or two, a round or two, and you gotta bring back the old girlfriend and it it's today. It works, and that that might be your case, Dan. Uh Daniel, because Dan's here. Uh, Daniel, that might be your case. It's like you're so used to seeing this, you need you might need to see something else for a little bit. So switch it out occasionally. If I'm putting bad with the my gamer, I'll pull something else in, play with it, and then the next round. I promise you, every time I putt way better with my gamer.

SPEAKER_01:

So I I I still want to know why what happened. What what what's the reason for you putting the Scotty in the bag over the lap? Just out of curiosity, that is all. Just out of curiosity.

SPEAKER_03:

Because I feel like shout out Jordan not breaking his back in Japan. Jordan's still here, he can watch YouTube. Shout out, Jordan. Did he break his back in Japan? Jordan, my homie Jordan, who got fit by Matt, fell down some stairs in Japan. He said he was broke his back. He was oh no. Oh, he's hanging tough because I'm gonna try and play with Jordan next week. Uh, but he is he's on one. So uh he's alive, he's alive.

SPEAKER_05:

Did you get good drugs on the stairs?

SPEAKER_03:

He was probably wearing those wooden sandal things with the two like things like this. Clink, clink, clink, clink. I know what you're saying.

SPEAKER_00:

God, I hope not.

SPEAKER_03:

I my boy Jordan, I swear, he went full on culture with it. So that might that might have been what happened.

SPEAKER_07:

Wow.

SPEAKER_01:

Wow.

unknown:

Wow.

SPEAKER_01:

All right, so the other thing I want to talk about, and I I said I wasn't gonna name names, so I won't name names, but uh at uh Aliante um situation happened where a player hit a very poor T shot. A very good player hit a very poor T shot. And I was curious how you guys how you guys handle the awkward cart ride after that. Like yeah, so you you know they just you know just topped a ball 30 feet in front of them, and it's just bad, and you can feel their hostility. They teed up, hit another ball, you can both walk back to the car, you get in, you drive off.

SPEAKER_00:

I think it depends awkwardness.

SPEAKER_05:

I think how do you handle that? I think it depends on their initial reaction. You know, if they top it and you know they're pissed, you give them time to cool off all that shit, you know, give them their give them their rage moment. If they're laughing it off, you know, self-deprecating, calling themselves, you know, loser, what an asshole. I can't believe I hit that shot, you know, whatever, but are you know laughing about it, then you know, maybe you can chuckle with it. But I would say wait for an initial reaction first and then and then you could behave accordingly.

SPEAKER_01:

It's so hard because you know, it not only happens to your partner, but happens to you too. You know, you oh yeah, everybody's we're not perfect, we all hit bad shots. Yeah, we all do. You know, you it's it's such a that awkward cart ride is such a weird fashion of the game where they do I break the silence with a joke, do I just say it's okay, get him next time? You know, there's so many different ways to go about it, and uh it really depends on your relationship as well.

SPEAKER_03:

Because if it like if Matt did it, I'd be like, Yeah, you fucking deserve that shit. You know, Jeremy about time and waiting for that.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I I will say that.

SPEAKER_03:

Like Jeremy, I'd be like, dude, dude, this course is sick, dude. Like, don't worry about it. I will say this full full full disclosure. Just get a ruby jewel, Dan. You're fine.

SPEAKER_05:

Full disclosure, this situation kind of happened a few weeks back at Legacy. Um Jay, is it okay if I talk about this a little bit? Okay, Jay was kicking my ass the whole fucking day, and he had a couple of stumbles on the way in, and unfortunately ended up losing to me by one. Um I can tell after 18 pin, as soon as we put the pin in an 18, like when I went to go, you know, dap up at the end of the round. I could already tell Jay was fuming inside. I know he was pissed at himself, you know. So that that moment that you talk about, Matt, where it's like awkward, like that was right there. That was where like, fuck, how how am I gonna do this with Jay? You know, I love Jay. Jay just is like my brother, and I even told him that when I dapped up, I gave him a hug. I said, I love you, bro. Like, you know, I didn't know what else to say. You know, so that awkward. I and I know Jay inside was probably just like, Motherfuck, you know, I get I know he was so pissed off, but uh, but yeah, I I just had just had that feeling two weeks ago.

SPEAKER_03:

I really think it just comes down to your relationship with the player, like um, like for me personally, like if because you know, we we play with people in VGN that we haven't played with a ton of times, and we don't know that well, but you know it it you have to use your like instincts, and that's what life is, right? Like, we we don't live online, we we interact with people, and it's like I usually try and uh overcome awkward situations with comedy, um, or like you know, I'm I'm not gonna say get them next time, champ. I'm not I'm not miracle on ice, you know what I mean? So it's it just depends on the moment. Yeah, I think so. After about shout out Kirk Russell, dude.

SPEAKER_01:

Kirk Russell legend. After about 20 seconds of silence, I said, because I rec I recorded it, right?

SPEAKER_03:

And I won't post that. Don't worry, I won't post that. Is that what you said?

SPEAKER_01:

No, after about 20 seconds of silence, I said, I know you're fuming right now. I said, but later on tonight or tomorrow after you've calmed down, I'm gonna send you this video and you're gonna go.

SPEAKER_05:

Who did you play with?

SPEAKER_01:

He's looking, and and so I gotta text later on next day and like send me that video.

SPEAKER_05:

I gotta see who you're paired with.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh I said I wouldn't mean to email it. I know I'm gonna look right now for the email.

SPEAKER_06:

Yeah, I think did this did this person go home, go to the car dealership on the way home and buy a car?

SPEAKER_07:

Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

He's like, dude, my golf sucks. I gotta go buy a car. Yeah, he's like he texted me.

SPEAKER_05:

I assume I can assume who it is. It's not the one in the chat right now. It's not Matt Boyd in the chat.

SPEAKER_06:

Okay, no, no. He texted me, he said, Have you ever been so upset about around the golf so you just went and bought a car?

SPEAKER_01:

Wow, I seen that one. I seen that, yeah. Oh, but we I was I was telling him I uh we were in the 18th fairway, our last hole, the 17th hole. And I'm like, I go, you know what, dude? I said, I don't think I played bad today at all. And I said, I'm I'm you know, seven or eight over. I said, I I don't think I deserve this score. I think I played when he goes, me too. He's like, I had two bad holes, and I'm you know 10 shots off the lead.

SPEAKER_03:

Like, wow. I I mean I also believe that it's one of those things that's like you were dealt the cards and you gotta live with it, you know. Like you you can't get like you're we're not playing on tour, we're not we're not playing for a shit ton of money. It's like dude, chill out. Yeah, okay. You hit a bad shot, it's on you, you're the one who swung the club, yeah, and it's it's just it's just one of those things, like use it as a lesson, learn from it if you're able to, and uh move forward and go buy a car. Go buy a car.

SPEAKER_06:

I think golfers like historically have been have had very high expectations too. Like, once you get to a level of skill, maybe you start playing and you're very consistent and you have expectations of how you should play, and then you don't hit those, it's like the world is ending.

SPEAKER_05:

It's disappointing.

SPEAKER_06:

I mean, it's just you just the disappointment you have in yourself because you know you're better, or you know you shouldn't have hit that shot, or whatever it is. It's just it's tough to deal with, though, for sure. Like what Dan was saying about the legacy situation, man. I was like, I was ready to like stop playing golf because it was like that level of frustration where you feel in control the whole time and then you just lose it on two holes or whatever it is. It's like it's so frustrating, man. Golf is a very frustrating game, but it's like it's the perfect teacher for life, too, because you just absolutely you just have to deal with the shit that comes your way, and you just you know, but yeah, it's uh I don't know.

SPEAKER_03:

I mean, when we played Legacy, that that is the worst I've played in probably uh three or four years, you know, and uh but I kept asking myself like what is going on? You know, like I can't answer it.

SPEAKER_01:

I don't know if I'm a bad, good golfer or a good bad golfer.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, it's it's tough, man. It's tough being in that situation and knowing what you're capable of doing. And that's where it's like golf is funny because it's like you're capable of doing some shit, but you you're not always gonna do it. So chill out, homie.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, I said I go, I think I'm gonna bring this up on the discussion on the podcast about how awkward cart ride after someone does something awful. And he goes, please don't mention names. And then he said this this is an amazing quote. It's like eating dinner as a kid, and dad just hit mom at the dinner table. Everyone is trying not to cry.

SPEAKER_05:

Dad just hit mom at the dinner table.

SPEAKER_01:

Everybody's trying not to cry.

SPEAKER_03:

From the slums, dude. From the slums. Shout out to you making it to the course.

SPEAKER_00:

He sighed, he sighed.

unknown:

Fuck.

SPEAKER_03:

That's fuck. That's funny.

SPEAKER_01:

Uh uh, he said he just Jordy just realized he's not live and he's typing 15 minutes ago. Well, kick hit that live button. Catch up.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, catch up, Jordy.

SPEAKER_01:

And then this this was uncalled for. I didn't appreciate it.

SPEAKER_03:

He's still in Japan.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Matt posts about Goodwoods, but I saw him on the course yesterday with a purple DF3. Stop it.

SPEAKER_06:

Hey, is there something you need to tell us, Matt? It's AI. That is Phoenix Sun Sand.

SPEAKER_01:

That is something I never have to worry about. Never have to worry about.

SPEAKER_03:

I got one more thing.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, what do you got? Oh.

SPEAKER_03:

And I I doubt you guys watch this because I'm not even done with it.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh.

SPEAKER_03:

But I do want to give a shout out to YouTube Golf. Uh the I mean, if we go back to one year ago when Dave Portnoy from Barstool Sports said he'd drop a million dollars on a golf tournament. If you got all the top golf influencers together to play a tournament, uh, I am an hour and 36 minutes into the uh Bob Does Sports, uh, internet, internet invitational, Barstool. Um they I mean I'm an hour and thirty-six in, so I haven't I haven't finished it, but they have done a really good job at it. It's it's pretty good. And I I got what two hours left. It's three hours and 40 minutes. Internet invitational on YouTube. Where are they miners? They're at Big Cedar Lodge. Big Cedar Lodge. Okay.

SPEAKER_01:

When did it take place?

SPEAKER_03:

Uh I'm not sure exactly when never mind. That's when they dropped it today. And also Rip Beef. That dude loved golf, rip beef. Um I I would assume because there's a lot of editing editing that happened. I would assume it took place a couple months ago, but yeah, they the format that they created is fantastic. Um, it's two days and a third day, like they did a really good job. And uh, I highly suggest everyone go watching it, even though I haven't finished it yet. But uh what I what I've seen in one hour and 36 minutes, it's it's pretty good. And they did a really good job with it, and I think it's what I think it potentially might be the future, unfortunately. But it's good. No, I like it because I'm scared of pro golf becoming obsolete. Would that change? No, I don't think it'll ever happen, but I'm saying like you this you gotta understand, all these guys have so many followers. They have yeah, they have a million over a million views in 11 hours. So it's like like I get it, right? And but that's the thing, like we gotta tell stories, and uh these guys tell their stories every day. So I think PG Tour, also live, we're not huge live fans, but we gotta tell better stories, and uh, I think they did a great job with it. Not done, but um it's it's it's pretty good so far.

SPEAKER_01:

I'll have to tune in tomorrow. So check it out for sure.

SPEAKER_06:

Let's take that a little further, Joe. What you said. If if pro golf went obsolete, how would that change the game that we play?

SPEAKER_03:

I don't know. I I I mean it depends on the the player or the person or what they value. I mean, like I value experiences and stories, so um, you know, it makes me want to go to Big Cedar Lodge a little bit more. Doesn't make me want to play Hilton Head. You know what I'm saying? Like we we go we see Hilton Head, and it's not like I I would love to play uh uh a tour course, of course, but it's not like there's not a story there. Like I think PGA Tour needs to build on stories and resonate with players around the world. You know what I mean? And and I there was like a you guys know me. I'm like uh, you know, I'm a feel like I I love the story, I love to understand the history is soul golfer, the background, and I think I want more stories from ProGolf. You know, these guys are mic'd up every hole, every shot.

SPEAKER_01:

And yeah, but it's I mean it's it's a different type of golf though.

SPEAKER_03:

It is absolutely yes, it is 100%.

SPEAKER_01:

No, they're both we're you know, they're playing the game, but it's it's not it's not the same, it's just it's just not the same.

SPEAKER_03:

It's no, it's definitely not the same, it's not the same caliber of golf, absolutely, but I would argue that people scrambling for a par to win a match from um out of bounds to a guy scrambling from par from the front of the green is more entertaining.

SPEAKER_05:

I think I think a lot of it is is it's appealing because a lot of these guys aren't even the greatest golfers. Like if you go out there and watch, you know, that they they can relate to the everyday hacks, and I think that's why these guys get a lot of views, get a lot of attention, get a lot of followers. There's also I feel like there's a demographic gap there with YouTube golf of PJ Tour. Of course, yeah. I mean, with these good, good guys and how huge they are, they have you know almost two million followers, or whatever the hell followers, millions of followers there are now. But like how many of those are kids and junior golfers, you know, like as a lot. I don't I don't really see a whole lot of I mean, I'm sure there are some grown men that follow, you know, good, good and all the stuff. And of obviously I've tuned into the videos, I know you know, I know who the guys are, but um, I think the PGA tour is just so um like there's so much tradition in history there that it still has appealing for everybody who is a golf aficionado who enjoys the history of golf, the tradition of the PGA tour, stuff like that. So I think you're right, it could be a big shift, Joe, for sure. But um I I I don't know if golf PJ Tour is gonna take a huge, huge hit.

SPEAKER_03:

I mean, you know, no, I don't I don't think they're gonna take a huge hit. I think I think it's it's coming. And it's our it's been coming if they don't prepare for it.

SPEAKER_05:

They don't they gotta prepare for it for sure, as you know, as with everything, you gotta adapt to you know times and shit like that. But um, but yeah, it's definitely interesting. I you know, whether it's YouTube or CPS broadcast, I don't care. I'm I'm more than likely gonna watch it if it, you know, yeah, it's something I want to do, something I want to see.

SPEAKER_06:

So yeah. Who do you think would sell who do you think sells more clubs now? Do you think it's the pros or do you think it's the YouTube influencers?

SPEAKER_01:

I me personally, I still think the tour dominates that section.

SPEAKER_06:

Like lab. Let's let's take lab again. They gave all their creators labs, or what however that worked. Every one of them plays lab. Do you think that those guys are more influential about people getting labs, or do you think it's the the guys on the tours that are playing labs? Because the YouTubers are in your face about yeah, I've got a lab, there's my lab, and it's easier to see it. Like you on the tour, you're not seeing close-ups of their putters, you don't know what they're really using. But these guys on YouTube, you know, everything that's in their bag, they talk about it all the time.

SPEAKER_05:

That's probably a little bit of both, you know. I think if they do recognize a lab putter in a PGA Tour Pro's hands, they're gonna be like, damn, you know, PGA Tour Pro's using it, it's got to be legit. But you know, let's be real, like a lot of the stuff that they use, we don't, you know, it's shit we don't we'll never see. It's like custom made tour only stuff, you know. So special welds and you know that crap. So it's it's just they'll see it in their hands, but yeah, I think a lot of it might have to do with the the influencers.

SPEAKER_03:

So, what's also interesting about that, like you know, I think there's a divide happening, like we're older. Um, you know, we see shit weld work or uh wedgeworks or circle tees. We can't get our hands on that, but this younger generation sees these guys playing Tacomo, they can go to the website, order that shit. They're playing the same shit as their favorite golfers. We can't just go on to uh ScottyCameron.com or title list, whatever it is, and order the shit. There it's like an engaging moment to where they can feel like they're in the game, if you will. I mean, I just think there's a divide where it's shifting. There it's it's for sure shifting. And I saw that with this, and you know me, I've always said like YouTube golf, whatever, I don't watch it a ton, but um I there's there's merit, and uh yeah, I mean I love both. I don't love YouTube golf, I love history, stories, all that. But um I just think with with what I saw in the first hour and 36 minutes, I was like, oh shit, these guys are commenting on every shot, and I love Chaz 100, you know, one fourth. I I dude, I love uh whole in one trick shots, they got Paige, they got they got uh Roger, they got uh Claire, they got uh all the Barstool guys, they got all the Bobs, does sparts. There's like fucking 48 players from all the whole influencer golf realm, and it's like there's something for everyone.

SPEAKER_05:

So is Amigos on the Green there?

SPEAKER_03:

No, but Amigos on the Green should be on the next one, and so should the Chase Day Live Podcast.

SPEAKER_05:

Let's get him there. But I just I yeah I gotta start a YouTube channel, golf channel. We got a golf channel, shorts. We go out and do shit, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

Or like all the shorts, yeah. Also, if there's one thing you can do, you can go like all the shorts, comment on every short that we've ever done, like all of our shit, subscribe, you know, you know the whole thing.

SPEAKER_01:

What would happen is be like I'd be like, hey, I got us a fucking banger deal. We're playing vice golf balls, and all you'd be like, fuck that. I'd I'd be vice. Not happening.

SPEAKER_04:

If they want to if they want to pay us to play their shit, I'll do it. I'll play Vice. I like golf whore, bro.

SPEAKER_03:

You pay me for whatever you want as long as they send a lot of yellow golf balls because the yellow golf ball covers are not great. Um, so I would need one every hole, probably. But um, I would play. I I think vice golf balls are pretty good.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, see, look at this, right? Kevin, letting everybody uh homie Kevin, yeah. 12 people watching only six likes. Come on, hit the like button.

SPEAKER_03:

Come on, people hit the like button. Bryson is both like the shit. Also, did you watch? I mean, did you watch the one with Steph Curry in Bryson? Did you watch that? Break break uh what is it, 50? Mostly for the course, but Steph Curry, yeah. Dude, Steph Curry. What'd they play? Lake Mercad.

SPEAKER_05:

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_03:

Nice, dude. That place is sick. Steph was on fire, too. Yeah, no, I I just think dude, I would love for these guys to teach a little bit more in their videos as well. But uh, you know, we're older guys, a tough pill to swallow, right? We're old. Get it through your fucking heads. Uh there's shit happening, and uh people die with us. They need to adapt, is all I'm saying.

SPEAKER_01:

Right, yeah, I'm saying let me share the screen real quick.

SPEAKER_02:

All right, guys, comment right now. Let's make it if you haven't commented, go go, go, go, go, go, go, go, get in the get in the giveaway.

SPEAKER_01:

Hang on a second, hang on a second, and draw it.

unknown:

SPEAKER_03:

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, what was that?

SPEAKER_04:

Jargon, get you.

SPEAKER_01:

You don't remember that you don't remember. I'm gonna have to go back and find that now.

SPEAKER_03:

If you're having a what was that? If you're having a if you're gonna walk something like that, make it a good make it a good walk. Oh, that is so long. It was like if you're playing some golf and you're planning to walk, make it a good walk coffee.

SPEAKER_01:

It was a it was a total uh the best choice of waking up.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, good walking for those new guys. That was 250 episodes ago. It was a while ago, yeah.

SPEAKER_05:

It was it was I still have the good walk uh the coffee mug from the fucking um Letters Never Die. Oh, yeah, right there. That's it.

SPEAKER_03:

They were one of our coffee, they were one of our first supporters. And they just put their coffee in a can. So if you go order, go order some goodwalk coffee and tell them Chasing Daylight Podcast sent you.

SPEAKER_01:
