Yeah, so we we were invited to the official grand opening of Gretsch Golf Academy, which, if you've watched some of the videos that we've posted here on YouTube, um, I did a walkthrough of the facility is an indoor 16,000 square foot indoor facility that is absolutely amazing. And they had their grand opening. Uh Jeremy and I went down, and Butch Harman was in attendance because him and Tilly go back quite a ways, and uh he was there supporting her. And after they had their announcements, and he was just hanging out, and uh Jeremy was hitting some shots, and so I went and and tapped him on the shoulder.

LAB Putters, Community, And Milestones

Matt, Matt, as soon as we saw him, I was just like, Holy shit, that's Butch Harmon. So then I'm we're putting and I hit that amazing putt, which I thought was amazing. He didn't think it was amazing, but he turned I got his attention because I almost hold it, and then Matt says, He's a damn good putter, and Bush is like, He's not that good, and so it was so anyway. I was like, Okay, that's great. And so we were walking around just kind of checking stuff out, and Matt's like, So if you were to ask Butch Harmon a question, what would it be? And I'm like, I have no clue, I don't even know. Because I when I like meet a star, I turn into a different person, I don't know what to say. I'm just like, Yeah, I think I'll just I'll hang back here, guys. You can you can handle it. So anyway, I was just kind of hitting some balls into the one of the simulators with their irons they had there, and I think it was 17 on sawgrass. Yeah, I thought, yeah, I'll go hit some balls and see if I can hit the green. And then Matt comes over with Butch and he's like, I need you to check out my buddy's swing. And so he saw he watched me hit a few balls and immediately like was like, Okay, this is what you've got going on. What is your miss? Do you hit a lot of pushes? I'm like, Yeah, okay, you need to relax your right arm, get that, get it back a little bit so you can see more forearm on the left arm on your leading arm, and then just same swing. So I did it, and holy crap, man, smashing it, smashed, pure tiny little baby draw, no more pushes. And he was hitting a regular flex, regular flex, which is a little awkward the time, but man, that was it was crazy. Like, I've never I've never had lessons really. I've worked with a couple guys like Josh locally. Um, yeah, but having someone, especially him, like come back at my swing, yeah. He's the goat right there. Right? He's the goat for sure.

Dude, I hit it on the you know, my backswing I hit it, my forward swing, I hit it. It was it was crazy, man. Like, I was I was a little nervous, I still swung well and hit the ball really well. Luckily, I didn't shank it or like yeah, skull it, but yeah, right. I was definitely nervous, and I'm just like, is this happening right now? As he's like standing next to me, like helping me adjust my arm how it should be. I'm like, is this really happening? You you've you've worked with tiger, yeah.

I mean, that's the same echelon, the same echelon. So you were swinging in a regular flex club. So were you taking it easy or what? Like you were. I was just I was swinging it normal, but I knew I was gonna close that. You were like smoothie boy in it.

Oh, yeah, smoothie boys for sure. But those Mizuno's, I don't know what they were, they were big shovels, they felt so incredible.

Yeah, he was he was hitting it well. Oh his first his first swing because he was hitting a gap wedge, he was hitting a uh pitching wedge first, and he was hitting a little long. And so I said, Here, just swing a little harder with his gap wedge. And so then he was flying it past the pin a little bit and backing it up because it was front left, it's coming down the hill. And then Butch, you know, I I go grab Butch and come over and and his first swing, he almost hold it out. It was hilarious. Yeah, Matt and Butch are old friends.

Yeah, Jeremy was swinging, he's getting loose and everything. And I'm like, I'm like, we gotta get something out of this, you know. So I said, I'll be right back. And he's like, I'm done. I said, No, get a few more, you know. And so I I went and looked for him, and he was around the corner and and he was sitting down talking with Kenny Ibalo, and uh I said, Hey, Mr. Mr. Harman, I don't mean to interrupt. I said, but can you do me a favor and come, you know, give my uh my buddy a critique? And he's like, Yeah, sure, let's go. Where's he at? I mean, so such a cool guy. It was, you know, he could have been nah, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna sit here and do my thing. But he was open and he was helping a lot of people too.

Well, I did I did give him one of our business cards, I did tell him what time we we do the show, and uh I said, you know, we just we were just four locals that shoot the shit and talk golf each week, and he's like, Yeah, maybe I'll call in. So they cool. Fingers crossed, fingers crossed.

Yeah, I mean, it was he's like, You have a great swing, everything looks good. The only thing is you need to adjust your because the way that I swing, I sense my arms, I'm kind of it's almost like my my my shoulder my spine rotation is too open, and so because my arms are almost like my right arm, my forearm is over my left arm, but it should be the opposite, it should and it creates more shoulder tilt in a way. It's kind of awkward describing it. Your shoulder was a little bit open, yeah.

So yeah, and I I can look at a golf swing and I will have no idea what's going on. Like that's the problem with working with Zayn, my son. Is I mean, I have an idea why something happened, but I can't tell him like you need to do this, this, and this. I have no idea. I I can't even break down a swing. But for some people, they just look at it in an instant. It's it's I huge respect for coaches because I it's crazy what they can see. Good coaches, good coaches, good coaches.

Yeah, well, it's there's a like one thing that blows me away working with Tim, Mr. Flote. Shout out Tim Flote. Uh, working with him is I'll see something, I'll self-analyze, I'll send it to him, and he'll be like, Okay, just forget everything you just said, let me tell you what's really going on. You know, it's such an eye-opening, you know, you think you know something, and then he's like, No, this is what's going on, this is why that's happening, this is what you need to work on. You know, so and I'm I'm neurotic with that stuff.

So I mean, that's one of those things. It's like find a coach that adapts to you and can tell you how you move into it, and like that's one of those things that make a great coach, they don't try and change you into rope robot, Mr. Roboto. You know, they they find how you feel in your swing and they figure out the the couple things that you need to like gentle things that make you deliver the club face to the ball correctly, and that's it's brilliant.
