As a subscriber you'll gain access to podcast features not available to everyoneThe fastest way to start a golf argument is to say “your clubs don’t fit your swing” and then actually bring numbers. We start with some chaotic after show banter about training aids, then slide into the kind of golf club fitting detail that can genuinely change your iron game: delofting, compression, launch angle, spin rates, and why a shaft swap can shrink dispersion even when carry distance barely moves. If you’ve been hitting it lower lately and can’t figure out why the ball won’t hold greens, this is the rabbit hole.
We also get honest about modern iron design and “loft jacking” in strong lofted sets. The point isn’t just distance, it’s trajectory control, ball speed, and keeping launch from ballooning with today’s faces and heads. From there we move into wedges: specialty wedge grooves vs set wedges, wedge gapping logic, and what “wedge flex” shafts often really are. It’s practical talk for anyone deciding between a 48 degree A wedge and a true scoring wedge setup.
Then the conversation takes a hard turn into brutal, darkly funny injury stories: lazy boy hinges, bike rotors, can lids, jagged metal, and the kind of stitches that stick with you. We land the plane with wind practice ideas and golf travel dreams, from Summit conditions to Scotland budgets to Bandon highlights. If you enjoy golf gear debates mixed with real life stories, subscribe, share this with a golf buddy, and leave a review with the one club change that helped you most.

JoeUnderstand a marketing one on one one marketing session.
SPEAKER_04Welcome to hell. Welcome to hell. Welcome to the after show. Jeremy introduces us to marketing blowboy. I love that voice. It's so good. Oh man.
JeremyThat's good. Oh man. I will say I am a I'm more of a sucker for putting. Not even like I don't even use it to be honest. Like I try it out and then it just sits there, but I am more likely to buy a putting aid than any other part of the golf game.
MattI'll let you use the one I have and see if you think it's more effective because I I believe it is.
unknownYeah.
MattI'll just leave it at that.
JoeThere's a wedge. What's that wedge thing?
JeremyOh, the wedge one where you have to it helps you like hit and down on it.
JoeYeah. I've been kind of wanting to get that.
MattDo you know what else works really good for that?
JoeA towel. A towel or a head powder.
MattYou have like 400 of them, I'm sure.
JoeAlignment stick. Yeah.
MattI know.
JoeI know. I know that.
JeremyJust put Quinn like a foot behind your ball. There you go. Perfect.
MattJust rubber band her shoe to the floor, the ground, and like, hey, don't move.
JoeLiquid cement.
Delofting For Lower Launch
MattJust stay here. Shoe go. Some shoe goo on the bottom of one of her crocks. Stand here for a minute. Oh. She'd be i I did uh I put some new shafts, not new shafts, some old shafts that I had in. Because I was doing I was doing some testing with the uh X Forge Max six iron head that I have. Um and because right now with what Tim Flote and I have been working on, I'm I'm hitting down on the ball really good. I'm I'm de lofting the club now, which before Tiger striking. Tiger striking the complete opposite. Uh so I'm getting much lower launch and uh better ball speed. Um, but my spin numbers are just off a little bit. And you know, when I was flippy and and sliding, Julian and I, we we jacked the lofts up on the the I play the AI 200s and the the seven iron is 29 degrees. It it's strong, you know, like a retro is 32. Whoa, you know, um, so it's it's three degrees strong. And found out today the reason why Callaway does that. You know, they're not trying to gain distance, they're trying to help ball speed because of the tech in the heads. They found out that you know they were launching way too high, way too high. So they they had to bring that trajectory down a little bit, and so that's that's why the the loft jacking is taking place. Callaway, it's not trying to get more distance, it's trying to get the launch and spin under control. Um so I we jacked the lofts on those to to try and get me a little bit more distance because I was coming up so short on so many things. Um, but with this new swing, I've I've noticed, or not new swing, but the swing that we're working on. I you know, I'm launching it a lot lower, and um the the spin numbers are just are they're low, and I'm like, okay, I'm gonna play the Chrome Tour X, which is the spinning your ball of the Chrome Tour line, and it's helped a little bit, but not as much as I was hoping. Um so I took the I have a set of the um Dart V's in uh 90 gram, and I had a recoil in the 95 gram stiff. So I put the recoil in the export, and it's it's 31 degrees, um, the exports max. And my numbers were almost the same as far as carry distance, but my dispersion came down, it was really narrowed down, and my spin went up, and I was like, whoa, you know, and so I I was talking with Greenley about it, and you know, he was saying, yeah, the heavier shaft is gonna help with your dispersion, and you know, the the loft clearly, you know, it's gonna get you some spin out of it. So uh after seeing those numbers, I said, Well, I I've got that set of the Darvs and 90 gram. Let me put those in. So I put those in today or last night, yesterday, and uh took them out to the backyard today and was hitting the seven iron. And holy crap, just so much better contact. My dispersion is so so much better with it. Distances are still the same, spin is up, and uh yeah, I'm pretty pretty freaking excited about what's happening because I you know I can do this. Tinker town thing is trying to get it dialed in. Just trying to get it dialed in.
JoeI mean, this is I really I really need new shafts in my wedges.
MattThat's my where I'm hitting the ball at now.
JeremyThat's a good spot to hit it.
Wedge Gapping And Shaft Options
MattYeah, well, I've always been uh the the ball mark is at the bottom of the club, you know. I've always hit it low on the face, always hit it low on the face. And seeing that, you know, the bottom of the ball mark three grooves up is like whoa. You know, that's that's exciting for me. Yeah, coming in with more compression. Coming in with more compared. I mean, I'm de lofting the club almost six degrees right now, which for me is massive. Absolutely massive. It's so much more controlled though. God, it's so much more controlled. And so I we we made them one degree week now, like Julian and I we did on Friday before we went to our fittings. I brought the bag in and we took them from 29 and th or they were 28 and we put them to 31 um or 30, but but they're up one degree now um in loft. So it's uh yeah, it's pretty interesting. Pretty interesting. Also found out today that I it just never really crossed my mind. But like the A wedge and sets, so the the grooves on irons aren't there for spin. They're not, they're there to get debris out of the way. But wedges, they have a different groove wall, you know, that they're a lot stronger, they're a lot more aggressive, they're designed to get spin. So a 48-degree wedge has a lot more spin than a 48-degree a wedge from a matching set, you know, it's like the AI 200 A wedge is 48 degrees, the pitching wedge, then a wedge, you know, and I I play a 50, and that 50 has a lot of spin, but I and I struggle with getting the distance I want out of that. I like sometimes I have to be a little bit more aggressive because I want it to be a little bit further. So I was like, well, shit, if I put in the A wedge at 48, I'm gonna get that distance that I'm looking for with the 50 club, you know, and I'm still gonna have decent spin because of the loft on it.
JoeSo be a four-wedge man, a big master fitter guy.
MattWell, I would I would take that eight wedge and then may just go 52-56, you know, and and not need three wedges at 50 54 58.
JoeI really need to get new shafts in my gap wedge and sand wedge. So bad.
MattKind of almost stock ones, Joe.
JoeYeah, I still have the stock. I mean, just every time I played anything else. Just so flippy. You play wedge flex Vokey shafts? I have never, yeah, never tried a different wedge shaft ever.
MattI would like to see you play a wedge flex. Maybe crazy. I have to find out what look up and see what the wedge flex weight is on those Vokies. I think they're they're 110, 115, maybe.
DanYeah, I think they're 115 to 120. I think they're light.
JeremyI don't take full swings generally with my wedges, though. Like 46, I do more, but everything else now.
JoeEvery time I try and take a full swing with my gap wedge, just just fucking fat, fat boys. And and the uh well, I play 50, 54, 60. So I need I need a new shaft in the 50 and 54.
MattYou have a six-degree gap in your 54 to 60. Wow.
JoeYeah, I play 50, 54, 60.
DanHe'll never he don't like 58s, bro.
JoeNo, I can't, I can't play a 58. I never I never full swing a 60 anyway.
MattYeah, no, I don't, I don't ever full swing my 54 or my 50s.
JoeThat's why I went with 50 and 54. I full swing occasionally.
MattYeah, I have the uh the 125, the LA golf wedge flex, the 125s in my 54 and 58, but then I put that 90 Dart V in my 50, and god, it's been so much better.
JoeNo, I need I desperately need new shafts of those.
JeremyI'm pretty sure the the wedge shafts I have are 120 to 130. That's the standard dynamic old S200. Yep.
MattThe S200 is one third. No, for the wedge wedge flex.
JoeThey put s200s and Vokies. Does it say wedge on it? I thought they were uh hold on, let me see. I thought they were Voke wedge flex, whatever.
DanI thought they've changed 115 to 120s.
JoeBecause usually they're well they gotta be because those heads are heavy too. The Vokey heads are heavier, right?
DanBecause the S300s are like 120 usually, and then the S400s are like 130 to 132. All right, let's see.
JeremyI think I need some they just say wedge flex, but I'm pretty sure they're s200s.
JoeYeah, don't they have that band on it that says like title is Vokey wedge flex? Yeah, they just say wedge flex on yeah, but they're mass producing those too. It's like you don't you don't know, you know. That's in every Vokey.
JeremyAnd I don't know if they vary like based on loft, if the weights are a range from like 120 to 130, or if they're all the same. You should try different shafts, Jeremy.
MattYeah, like the S200 shaft for the SM9 and SM10 is approximately 130.
JeremyYeah.
MattWow.
JeremyI mean they wedge is my least least of my worries, though, though. Yeah. My wedges I'm super comfortable with.
MattOh yeah. I wouldn't change anything with your wedges. I didn't know they were that heavy. That's that's good to know. That that s200 is that.
JoeI just need some wedge flex shafts, then Voke wedge flex shafts.
MattI got some of those too, Joe.
JoeYeah, maybe they have to do that. I have my full 29 shit. It's just I'm not even confident in any at all. Oh, they're so good. I I'm I I regret selling my wedge proto recoils.
MattI have some of those too.
JoeYeah, because I haven't, I haven't, I mean, I love the MG5s, but ever since I got rid of my MG4s, I just no confidence or comfort over them because I just the wet the shaft is just trash.
JeremyBut you've also played a lot less golf since you got your SM5. That's true, that is true, yeah. I haven't had for me, like when I have when I don't play much golf, wedge is the first thing to go.
JoeOh, it's the first thing they go for sure.
JeremyYeah.
DanSo on the dynamic gold side, it's 127 grams and the s300s 130. So it's only three grams lighter.
JoeBut they're not they're not labeled dynamic gold s200s or three hundreds, they're labeled wedge flex.
MattRight, but it is an S200 though.
DanThat's that's what it is. They just put Vokey just puts her own band wrap.
MattIt's talk two gender dynamic gold s200, commonly used in Vokey wedges.
JoeYeah, Scotty Cameron, that guy. He's a scoundrel. Title is those guys. He's a real rascal. Pompous.
MattUh hey, Jordan paid his side money.
DanGot your email.
Brutal Finger And Hand Injuries
MattYeah. Got to call out on the podcast. Yeah. Call out in a chat. All right, Dan. You were you were telling us about it. Oh, yeah.
DanSo I was helping my buddy Eric move. Uh, of course, you know, you own a truck. Everybody calls you. Um so we're out carrying this thing, we're out carrying his uh lazy boy, and the fucker's like broken, you know, like the handle won't stay stuck, you know, stuck. So anyway, we have it. We're trying to get it, shimmy it out the door, and we have it kind of awkwardly awkward. And I'm I'm already outside, and he's coming around the corner because it was in an apartment, and he's coming around the corner of his house, so we kind of have to pivot to get onto the walkway. Well, as we pivot, the the legs fly open, and it just threw the weight off of the off of the lazy boy. So I just instinctively moved my hand to try to catch it. And when I put stuck my hand out, my finger got caught in between the hinge. When you pull the handle that draws it back and forth, and it locked into place. And it just was, I mean, it was clamped shut, and I had about it was at the base of my fingernail. So this much was sticking out of the out of the uh hinge, and it was completely locked down because the handle had come through. So I thought for sure that it was gonna cut off, and I didn't know what to do. I I didn't know how to release it. My buddy's like, what do I do? What do I do? Because at this point I'm like, cut my fucking finger off, cut it off, cut it off. He's like, How do I cut it off? I go, just go get a knife, cut it off. And uh something happened where I was finally got some clear thinking, and I grabbed the handle and I opened it and I got my fucking hand out. And when I did that, it was just dangling. My fingertip was just dangling. And the tip of my bone, you could see the tip of my bone in my finger. So yeah, we had to go to the hospital and get it soaked back on. The guy's like, You might not feel your fingertip, you know, might have some nerve damage, but after about a year, I got my I got all feeling back, so it was uh it was nasty. Yeah, you feel that was coming.
JeremyAll feeling back. That's crazy.
DanYeah, this was like in this was like in 2000. Talk to me. Two or three.
MattRemember when I almost cut my finger off on the bike rotor? Remember that a couple years ago? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. That was and the bike rotor. Yeah, I was changing the tire on my wife's mountain bike, and it's got a disc rotor. Yeah, and uh, I got it done and I just spun it and didn't realize that my left hand was in the spoke still. And yeah, no, yeah, so it uh yeah, I bet. Oh no, I went fuck and I went like this, you know, and I looked down and and my nail was split in half. Yeah, and same thing, you could see the bone tip, and I was like, oh my god. And Brooklyn was the only one that was home. Emma and and Erica were gone, and I just went over to the sink and just started running water on it and with some paper towels. And uh yeah, I went inside and sat down and I told Brooklyn, I said, Hey, if I pass out, call 911, you know, because I was in a little bit of shock, you know, about what was going on. But uh yeah, then we we had to go to the hospital because we had Erica has a a friend that runs a mobile medical van. Um, and so he came by and he's like, That needs a stitch. He goes, But I I can't do that, you gotta go to the doctor, you know. Yeah, and uh so yeah, we went to the the the Henderson hospital, the one by the galleria. West Henderson, no no no, that that one wasn't available yet. Yeah, they they it what sucked is you know they're injecting the Novocaine, and you feel that needle go in, you know, in the top of your nail, it's just fucking painful. Yep, and uh, but then in order to stitch it, they had to go through the top of the nail on one side and then come up the underside on the other, and the guy could not puncture through the underside, and he was trying, yeah, and and finally he just gave up and said, I'm just gonna put you know a strap on this and just make it really tight. Yeah, my one oh yeah, that was the same shit to me.
DanUh my one finger in the case. Yeah, the Novocaine shot sucked.
MattOh my god, that's one of the worst things I've ever felt in my life.
DanYeah, the Novicane shot sucked.
MattOh my my one right.
JoeThere's a scar right here because I was opening can of Campbell soup or something like chicken noodle soup. I think I was sick, and the the fucking can opener stopped halfway, so I used a a spoon to try and pry uh the lid up in there fucking right there. And that needle that went down into there, like oh at worst, the worst pain I've ever felt. Uh worst pain I've ever felt for sure.
DanSo nasty. I I got another one that was pretty nasty too. Um, I was I was fucking around in my my buddies after hours, my buddy's yard. I was about 13 or 14 years old, and he had like a junkyard for a backyard. Like his dad was a plumber and he collected cars, so all he had was like copper fittings and like fucking old ass, like Studebaker shit.
MattSuch a fun playground.
DanUm well actually in uh a lot, and this is another story. Let me finish this one. Okay, um, so we were fucking around in the backyard once, and there was like an RV back there in the junk, and yeah, there was um a shed next to the RV, and we were trying to do clear out some stuff for his dad so he can pull the RV out. And a corner of the shed, it was the corrugated metal. Well, the corner of the shed has been like bent out, and it was like a real jagged edge, like probably like a like it's almost the same as like an eight-inch blade, a nine-inch blade of like a kitchen knife, pretty much.
JoeJagged edge. Yeah, yeah, Jeremy.
DanAnd jagged edge. Um, so we've we're clearing some shit out, and I all of a sudden I turn around and I walk right into this corner of the thing, it goes right into my muscle, and it gets stuck. I didn't even feel it, and I got stuck, and I look back and I'm like, oh my god, and I could see like that. And I pull my thing, I pulled my arm out, and like three inches of the of the jagged steel was in my arm, and as soon as I pull it out, porn everywhere. I was like, ah, fuck. Yeah, that was a nasty one. 19 stitches in the scar, yeah, right here, right on top of my bicep. Wow, you barely see it, but yeah, it literally just went. I was like, why am I stopped?
MattRight on the muscles. I was up late one night working on my RC car, right? And you and Steve Jack. Yeah. Before uh I found out that the plastic Velcro was the way to secure things to the frame, you know, because I was changing the speed control, I was changing the steering servo, I was doing all this stuff. And uh I had it zip tied, right? We zip tie them to the body. And uh I was trying to get it off, and I'm like, fuck, I need something. I'm I'm holding it in my hand. The the it's upside down. I'm working on the bottom of the chassis, right? And I'm holding it like this, and I got this zip tie here that I gotta get off. So I look over and I I grabbed one of the hunting knives that I had just laying around, and I went like this, and it and it cut it and went right into my thumb. And almost cut my thumb off. Hell yeah. Oh, that one was brutal because I went like this, and there was a ring of blood around my room. Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, that one, and I still have a pretty bad scar there for that one. Jeremy, you ever you ever broke any bones or anything?
JeremyOr you've had a perfect never broken a bone. I got cut once on the chest, like right here across my chest. I don't even remember where. I think it was from like a an old fight. Yeah, it was a street fight. All lake street fight. Went to a boys to men concert.
JoeMost most embarrassing. Yeah, we were at the missionaries, down with that, stabbed in the down with that jungles in the jungles of Belize.
DanYeah. Um uh in like 2004, 2005, this is when I was catting at Bears Best. Um, my phone rang and I was high as shit. I was at home. And uh I decided to instead of walk around the couch like a normal person, I decided to try to hurdle the couch. And when I tried to hurdle it, I tried to go from the back of the couch over the front. So there's a high back and you know a lower portion for the seating. Well, I didn't quite make it over the high back, and I broke all five of my toes on my right foot. It hit The top of the couch. All five toes. Got a boot. I was in a walking boot for like six months.
MattThat's a fun.
DanWow. That was my most embarrassing review. I thought it was gonna curta hurt on the couch like nothing. I was like 25, you know. Fucking broke all five toes right at the same time.
JoeStraight into it.
DanYeah, I mean, right.
JoeDead center.
DanYeah. Dead center.
JoeTiger strike. Tiger strike toes.
DanMy girlfriend at the time, she knew right away. She knew right away. She goes, Did you break your foot right now? I heard pop. I heard it pop. I got you something.
JoeOh I when I broke my ankle, I was in the you know, storage units, the storage containers. I was skateboarding. It was like a two-foot gap, and I fucking old it. Two feet ollie on the skateboard, crunch, ankle toast, ankle snapper.
DanSkateboarding injuries suck. They happen so long.
MattSkateboard ankle injuries are just so unexpected. It's like you don't know what's happening, but it's over before you realize what happened.
JoeYeah, that's right. Yeah, that's always fun.
MattGrab his feet. No, don't grab my feet. Grab my strong leg.
SPEAKER_04Oh take my clubfoot. Oh goodness.
MattGoodness.
unknownYeah.
MattIt's injuries for you. Yeah. Any golf injuries?
DanUm I got blasted by a golf ball one time right in the middle of my chest. Oh. It was amazing. It was a hole called uh uh no, you hit me in the you hit me in the bill of my head. I know. Remember? Um I've hit Jeremy too, right?
JoeHaven't I Jeremy? Uh I don't remember. Did I hit Dan twice? I hit somebody else. You hit me once, like I vaguely remember Rio Seiko, yeah. On what is that 11, 12? No, 13. Something like that. Rio Seiko, yeah. That was funny.
JeremyThe greenside flopper.
DanNo, he had like a fairway. Yeah, he had like a 60 or 70 yard shot, and I was over by the bunker. Oh, yeah, yep. Yeah, and I remember something like that.
JoeRight in the little right, right where it's protected the most. Yeah.
DanOh, it was awesome. Um, old course called Eaton Canyon. I was like 13 or 12 or something like that. Well, there was one hole that's on top of the hill, and another hole that's at the bottom of the hill. There's probably like a 30 to 40 foot incline, but they run parallel to each other. One you go this way, and the other one you come back this way, T to green this way, and this one's T to green that way. So I'm on the lower hole. I hit my shot, I'm walking in the fairway. I don't hear shit all of a sudden, just the last like split second here, and I'll boom and just fucking hammered me right in the chest, dude. Orange golf ball and knocked me straight down on the ground. And uh yeah, I had a bruise on my chest for I don't know, probably like two weeks. But yeah, it fucking hammered me. Only time is the babe. Is that the babe? No, it's a little a little uh course called Eaton Canyon. I think it's in like Monrovia or Sierra Madre or something like that.
MattThe uh the really long par five at Club at Sunrise on the back nine that runs along the ditch in the range, you know, it's it's like 605 yards. Yep. Uh yeah, that par five, yeah. Yeah, my buddy Pat 13. Yeah, something his his brother, we were in the fairway on we were close, uh not close to the green, probably like 80 yards out, and somebody hitting their second shot with a three wood smashed it, and we hear four and we turn around, and as he turned around, we just hit him right in the chest.
DanLike this uh dude, the worst, the worst one I ever saw. I was catting at Bears Best, and I had a two, and these guys were fucking hammered. And uh it was hole 16, the downhill one next to the driving range. Um guy had lost his ball on the left side somewhere, and he decides to drop, and his buddies so we'll say the target is 12 o'clock. Well, his buddy decided to park like 15 feet away, like like in between 10 and 11. And he just hits this fucking like five wood from like 200 yards and like heel shanks it, and the ball goes dead left right at the fucking cart. It hits their hand that hits the rail that holds the windshield, comes back, smokes the guy right in the face. Oh god, 15 feet away with a five wood. It was like that ball was coming like at 120 miles an hour. It happened so quick. It was incredible. It split his lip open. I mean, it was oh we didn't know what the fuck just happened. I mean, it was like it just sounded like a fucking gun went off. Like the guy just like falls out of the fucking cart. It was so good. I was like, what the fuck just happened?
MattMy buddy Dan, we were on we were at Lexington and we got paired with this football coach from like Arkansas, 6'5, 290, just a mass human being, right? And I can't remember, I can't remember what hole we were on, but he hit he has a uh big berth of three wood, you know, the one with the bore through, right? Those when they came out. And he fucking smokes that thing, can't hit his driver for shit, but he hits that thing 270 yards off the T. It's fucking ridiculous, right? And so we he teed off the the big guy teed off, I teed off, and then it was Dan's turn. And guy gets a phone call, and it was one of the flip phones where you're gonna pull the antenna out. That's how long ago it was, right?
DanYeah, Motorola Star Tech.
MattYeah, and so he's on the phone and he's not paying attention where he's walking, and he walked right in front of the T-box as Dan hit and it caught him in the side. Oh, and he goes and dropped to his knee. And I was like, He's gonna kill you. This man's gonna pick you up and just kill you, and he was like, My fault, shouldn't have been there. I fault, you know, and just and then got up and and finished the round. I was like, dude, you just hit him with the fucking I mean, he was maybe 40, 30 feet, maybe 30 feet, 25, 30 feet, just smoked him. Oh that's like I I've never seen anybody get hit that hard. Just oh god, it was brutal.
DanHave you guys seen those videos where they have like uh um teachers that are giving lessons like at like a PGA tour superstore or whatever? And the one lady, the guy's the instructor's literally standing two feet in front of her ball. Oh, she swings, she takes a full swing and hits her right leg with the golf club. Yeah, oh my god. Boyfriend was there, he's like, What the fuck are you doing? Wow. You seen the one where the old lady hits it right into the fucking computer gear and all that shit. She does this way and she fucking hitting this at 90 degrees.
MattOh my god. We'll have we'll have that every now and then. We'll get somebody and it's like Julie, like go move the quad. And I'm like, Yep.
DanOh, it's just great.
Wind Practice And Confidence Talk
MattIt's funny, yeah. It was odd. I at Revere I was there uh Saturday, uh and windy as hell, so I just worked on my win game all day. Nobody we had one appointment, they showed up, and that was it.
DanSo, what do you do when you try to when you work on your win game?
MattLike, what do you what what's your s what's your thought process? There was a hundred-yard stick, and I was just hitting eight irons, just hitting knockdown eight irons. Yeah just just trying to flight it to to the flag.
DanOkay.
MattI mean, it was a stiff 25-30 mile an hour wind all day in her face. It was dead interface. So I was just trying to work on compression, get that launch low, trapping it low, trapping it, and and just trying to get that. I mean, I mean, my my aim was it's I'm scared. I've never been like this confident with my iron game, and I'm good I know I'm gonna go out there Saturday and just shit the bed.
DanSo no, no, don't even don't even be like that. Don't keep doing what you're doing.
MattWild how it's I mean hats off to fucking Tim. My god, this guy is a genius, absolute genius teaching professional at some point.
JoeWhat's that? I'm lost. I'm just lost.
MattSo I need help at some point.
JoeYeah, I need help at some point, is all I'm saying. But I need to play more.
MattMaybe you should start caring again.
JoeI know no, I don't I don't think it's about caring. I mean, it's just you know. I have no hands, I have no hands. I got it.
MattYeah, you're not playing enough. You mean you s you were playing twice a week for a long time and you know it happens.
JoeIt can be depressing. I don't care at the end of the day, but are you even hitting balls into your net in your backyard? Uh not into the net, but yeah, I I chip occasionally with Theo.
DanYeah, you need to swing everything, bro. You need to just get some swings in. You just need to feel the center of that club face more. The more you feel it, you must back in. Yeah, tell me about it. All right, I'll come, I'll come over tomorrow. We'll have a one-hour session into your net. It's in there. All right. He's got fucking it is in there.
JoeIt is in there, yeah. It is. I know it's in there.
MattJust have your bagger vans moment. That's the field.
JoeYeah.
MattYou know, close your eyes. Go watch Bagger Vance night. It's a good movie to fall asleep to.
JoeOh my god. I'm gonna make the hell of a 60-year-old golfer, though. I'll make a hell of a 60-year-old golfer.
MattHey, I'm I'm a week and six years away.
JoeFrom van life?
MattNo, from being 60. Yeah, baby. How old are you? I'll be 53 next week. Yeah, 51.
Summit Course Talk And Vegas Golf
JoeYeah. Five three. You gotta go play some dice. Go play some dice.
MattWell, I'm I'm hoping Kenny Ibalo comes through, and Jeremy and I are playing Summit next Thursday.
JoeThat's that would be really cool. Ooh, there you go. Yeah.
MattHell yeah. It's okay.
DanJeremy, you haven't been out to Summit yet, huh? Oh yeah. No, I'm excited to see it. I've just been you'll probably shoot well there. It's an easy course, but it just it's it's just it's it's it's conditions.
JoeConditions are just immaculate.
JeremyIs it long? It's not long, right? No, it's 7,000 from the tips.
JoeIt's a primo. It doesn't seem like a resort course. It's primo.
JeremyI think it plays huge greens, huge fairways.
DanIt plays shorter than I think pie, it's tougher than Summit, to be honest with you. Oh, yeah.
JoeYeah.
MattYou played, you haven't played it, have you, Matt? No, I haven't played it. I just been there in there and watched CJ Cup and hearing everybody that plays it talking about how undifficult it is. Just nice. Honestly, yeah.
JoeFairways are honestly. It's uh what sucks is like you hold it in this high regard, and you're like, oh summit, and it's like eh.
JeremyJust a really nice court.
JoeIt's like an experience, and it's like the conditions are probably the best you'll get in Vegas compared to Shadow Creek, but yeah, I mean the views are incredible, but it's it kind of nerd, yeah. It's houses out there are insane, too.
JeremyYeah, the views are the city. I saw Glenn's house. They finished, yep, right by the driving range.
MattHe's right, he's the second house in off the range. Glenn who learner? No, the guy that was in the VGN. Allison, he's a venture capitalist tech guy. Oh, married uh Circle de Soleil performer. Oh, good for him. Oh, yeah, really good for him. It's all flexible and shit. Yeah, and he looks like he's a member at the summit.
DanYeah, bit cool. There's an image, there's an image to uphold when you're a Discovery Land member. Yes.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
DanI want to play Gaza Ranch so bad. Yeah, yeah. I've heard rumors that it's kind of becoming a shit show up there, though. Like, because it's not really like Idaho is not like really a hidden secret anymore. Like all these celebrities are buying houses and like well.
MattNorth Idaho is a little different than southern Idaho.
DanAs far as a little more climate woods, it's very white power.
MattOh, yeah, I've heard that too. Yeah, it's it's it's very white.
JeremyPeople disappear in the woods there.
MattYeah.
DanStrongest KKK chapters in the nation.
MattDid you see some of the documentaries and crime stories about northeast Washington and northern Idaho? Some shit like, yeah, not going there. And I'm white. You got too much sun to be white. Yeah, you're not white enough. You're not white enough. Here, look, look, see, see, look a redneck, redneck. Um, yeah, though. Oh, god, it's gorgeous up there. Absolutely gorgeous.
DanYeah, I know the trip in the summer is gonna be gotta be gotta happen one of these times, too. But we gotta go to go to gamble and pasatampo soon.
MattYeah. I think gamble needs to be on our priority list. I know. Oh, I go to gamble, dude. Scarecrow looks so sick. Uh the whole property looks sick.
DanEverything we got we got banned in in January, huh? Yeah. Well, let's try to let's just let's let's fucking plan to go to Diz or uh Gamble on in December 27th.
JeremyGoing to Scotland, aren't you?
DanI don't know. I don't know. I mean, I'd want to, but that's a lot of money, so we'll see where I'm at.
JeremyYeah, well now Joy wants to go. Gamble wants to go. Joy wants to go.
DanJoy wants to go to Scotland.
JeremyShe's like serious about going. Yeah.
DanThat'd be a great trip for you guys. You're gonna bring the boys too, or just you guys, just us. That'd be a great trip for you guys, man.
JeremyYeah. I think Sean's bringing his wife. And then Woody is, yeah. You, Trey. I don't know who else is going. Maybe Bob. I don't know. I haven't heard anything.
JoeYeah, we'll see. I guess it's like 10 days. I'm long, long, long. Yeah.
MattI just don't. I gotta with Brooklyn graduating and not sure what's going on with them. I just can't commit to that. It's hard to commit as much as I want to.
DanYeah, man. I mean, you guys are making the right choices. You got families and kids and shit to worry about. Yeah. We'll live through you, Dan. You can go to Scotland in the following year or something. Oh, yeah. Especially when I said I I don't even know if I'm gonna go. Like, like I said, that's a lot of things.
JoeIs it like six grand? Six grand.
DanThat's just for that's just for the golf, man.
JoeYeah, like 6700 bucks for the process.
SPEAKER_04Um food, airline.
JoeI'm planning on a ten thousand dollar trip. I think I think there's who's planning it. Woody.
JeremyYeah, Trey and John. He's working with uh one of those uh golf tour companies out there.
JoeAnd the only reason they're doing that is because they want to play St. Andrews.
JeremyLike yeah, yeah, yeah.
JoeThere's like three or four travel companies. There's which I would want to play, of course. Yes, I don't see if I'm going that far.
DanYeah, I'd like to time it though where you can play fucking uh uh you can play St. Andrews in reverse, you know, they do that a couple couple of days a year.
JoeThat'd be sick. That would if I won that lottery, I would I would because they do that lottery every year where you can sign up and maybe I should just enter that.
MattYeah, lottery boy.
JoeThere you go, lottery boys.
MattCyrus was at Bandon before he went to Augusta. He was at his first trip to Bandon, yeah.
JeremyNice, so remember seeing any posts from there.
MattHe said he's waiting because he wanted to get all the Augusta stuff in first, so that'll you'll start seeing it here in the next day or so. Um, but he got to play every course but old Mac. They only played four rounds, and uh they didn't play the short course, they didn't play preserve. Um losers, kind of a short trip, but uh he loved it, absolutely loved it.
JoeGood. I can't believe he didn't tell me. He was just texting me the other day.
DanWe're gonna be there in January. That'll be right before you fucking know it, bro. Way this year's flying already.
MattStratton's there, he's there today. Oh, really? Yeah, one picture of a beautiful tee shot, the next picture he shows a selfie, and he's just drenched.
JoeI saw that today, yeah. Yeah, uh yeah.
MattI told uh I Cyrus asked me uh if I had any caddy recommendations, and I said, Oh, you gotta connect with Schuster. You gotta connect with Schuster, he'll fucking love you.
JoeAnd so he tried, but uh Schuster's always busy.
MattHe had some regulars that were coming, and and but he met him and talked to him, and and uh oh nice, yeah. Schuster's like a big fan of his YouTube, and so I said, Yeah, you guys you guys would get along great. But he said, Oh, this was a hack. Uh because I told him, I said, I said, You gotta go to McKee's, you gotta get the meatloaf. And um so he said there was four of them, and they ordered the meatloaf as an appetizer and split it up. Yeah, interesting, and then they had the shepherd's pie, and he goes, The shepherd's pie was not as good as I was expecting. I said, Yeah, the meatloaf's the bomb there.
JoeYeah, yeah. Shepherd's pie is not that fantastic. But yeah, he said one of his uh friends, um can't remember why he was saying it, but he I saw Hirsch made a made a cameo in in Schuster's video the other day. Did you see that? Remember Hirsch?
MattYeah, I remember Hirsch.
JoeYeah, he was in he was in one of Schuster's videos the other day.
MattThat's cool that he's still out there.
JoeYeah, he was cool, dude.
