I got mine right here. There we go. All right. For all for all y'all. I got the the no AC out in the casitas, so uh it's a little warm in here, so I'm not putting the jersey on. Go nice, go nice, go. What a hockey game. What a game, what a game. Jeremy and Dan are converted. They're they're officially hockey fans now. Uh so man, that was that was an absolute blast of a game. Thanks everybody for uh sticking around and welcome to the Chasing Daylight Podcast. Yeah, we're excited about hockey uh because the nice just won game one of the Stanley Cup playoffs. We are a golf

So uh did I get a badge? You will get one. You will get one. You have a little proudly. We wear it proudly, and most people don't understand what that team has done for our city. People don't understand. That's the thing. That's it's stories are getting spread, so it's it's starting to be a little bit more publicized about what happened. A lot of people
Midwest Golf Trip Overview
are sharing some good stories about uh the first year of the nights and what happened in our city. Um, but we can get into that if anybody wants to. Uh, we just got back from a trip to Nebraska, South Dakota, Iowa. Hell, we may even made it into Minnesota for a few minutes uh with all the driving around that we did. Uh, we played some golf at some pretty spectacular places. Uh, Dan didn't go with us last year, so we said, hell, let's go again because Dan's got to experience this. And uh we not only got back to land, man, and played it twice, but we got some bangers. Bangers that uh we caught some extras. We caught some extras out there. Oh, yeah. We did not know we were going to have this great of a time, right? I mean, we it's it's the guys, it's you know, it's it's uh we we love going and playing golf. The company is fantastic. No matter where we play, we're gonna have a good time. We've played some shitholes and had a blast, so uh it was nice to have some some top-rated bangers on this trip, and uh so we started off. We started let's look, we'll we'll go course by course, and uh we'll give everybody's thoughts.
Course Review: River Wilds
Anybody's got any questions? Feel free to chime in. Um, so we started off, we landed, got our rental car, got out of the airport. Super easy to get out of that airport. Uh Sioux uh uh Omaha Airport is really easy to get in and out of. We were on the road quickly. Uh, we showed up to Wild Rivers. It is a you know River Wild, Rivers Wild or River, River Wilds. That we booked while we were in the Starbuck line in the Vegas airport because we needed to be have a tea time, so we called them and booked it. But we're gonna be there this afternoon. We're coming. And so we showed up, and there's carts in the parking lot. It's a it's our gravel, loose gravel, dirt parking lot. No chance Matt wasn't driving that rental van. Only a couple times, only a couple times. We can get to that. Um, and there was we saw people in t-shirts and like workout shorts, and we looked on the golf course, and people in t-shirts and like wife beater tank tops were like, okay, well now we know what we're dealing with. So we go in, we pay, we're like, hey, we can go whenever. They're like, you know what? Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead and get on out there. And uh why isn't Dan wearing a hat from Nebraska? Yeah, what's going on with that, Dan? Well, I'm too picky about hats. Yeah, I I got one hat. I just got one, and Joe's wearing one he got last year. So uh all right, so we get there, we get out on the course. First hole, great golf hole. Great golf hole Jeremy, tell us about the first hole. We won't do every hole, but the first hole is. I didn't know where we were hitting it, and I hit it into a hazard. Because it's like straight downhill, you can't see the fairway, and I'm like, yeah, let's just hit a fairway wood, just right into the hazard. But yeah, great. It was a good hole. I mean, it would have been nice to know what we were dealing with, but yep, I had the GPS on I had 18 birdies. Shout out 18 birdies because they all the courses were on there, though. Joe's already stripping for the camera. Whoa, Joe, hey, whoa, it's yeah, it's hot. Just say no to crack, Joe. It's better than that. It's better to show the belly than the crack, so that's why I turned my back. That's why I turned my back. Um so uh 18 birdies was great, but it didn't show the elevation, so we were we thought it was just a little dog leg that we couldn't see the green. Yeah, it was like a 30-foot drop-off over a creek. The fairway ran out at like 2 30, and uh Joe has a tram stamp. Uh, and uh yeah, it was it was a cute, cute little first hole. It it was uh a surprise. The greens, cute little hole, cute little hole, nothing fancy. It was a it was it was it was a cool little hole, cool little hole. It was a cool little hole. Uh, and then the next hole was as crazy uphill, as far as you came down. You went further up even more, dog leg to the right. Uh, and we were like, wow, this this place is kind of bringing it. And then the greens, the greens were fantastic, absolutely fantastic greens on that course. Dan, give me some thoughts on wild rivers, right? That river wild rivers, river wild wild. It's river wilds. Wilds. I always think that the plural should be on the river. River wilds. Um, I thought it was cool, man, for for like a highway golf course because that's what it was. It was a highway golf course for sure. That is like a highway golf course that should be like built right behind like a cracker barrel or something like that. But it was that golf course was a lot of fun, uh, especially for the value for only being 50 bucks. I mean, it got some character to it, it was in really good shape. The greens were tiny as hell. Oh, smallest greens I've ever played. Yeah, but it was cool though, because the course wasn't that long, so you know, with tinier greens, you can get away with that. And uh, but it was good, man. It was a lot of fun. The greens are like I said, the greens are in really good shape, and uh it was it was a it was a real nice way to start off the trip, dude. Payment, I don't care what you say. Omaha Country Club has some crazy elevations. Cory Oaks had some crazy elevation changes, yeah. Landman, River Wilds, Bent Tree. Yeah, bent. I mean, we there was a lot of elevation changes, so that's because payment's in the flat part, he's in the flattest part, he's in the flattest part, and double vodka lemonades will really make things flat. So uh yeah, so we we played there. Uh I was after like the third or fourth hole, I'm like, yeah, the conditions here are better than anything in Vegas right now, not names Shadow Creek. I mean, there the the rough was thick and lush, there wasn't brown spots, the the grass was you know nice throughout. We weren't hitting off any hard pan anywhere. I mean, it was it was fertile soil. It was fertile soil fertile. Stop it with the Wolf Creek, Mike. I I mean I will say about River Wilds, like they had a lot of really cool, fun holes out there, but like there was some boring holes as well. But yeah, the conditions, the greens were sick. Um, but no, it was a great little warm-up. Pickled hot dogs. Never had a pickled hot dog in my entire life, and um I had a hot dog and there was red on the wrapper. I'm like, what the fuck is the red shit? So first timer for that, but yeah, it was solid. I think that might have been our hottest round, also, the most humid round we had. That was the intro to mugginess. Yeah, the first landman round was pretty stifling too because there was no wind. There was no wind. Yeah, I never seen that before, Mike. I'd never seen that before. Little trailer for the clubhouse. We made ourselves we we didn't get no, there wasn't anybody in front of us really. Um, we we made it around really quick. It was like what 340 that round or something like that. I mean, we made it around pretty quick, pretty quick, yeah.
Sioux City Hard Rock & Night Out Stories
And from there headed uh north to uh Sioux City Falls to Tacoma. We stopped in Sioux City Falls. Tacoma, we stopped in Tacoma real quick. Yeah, Tacoma saw where the irons were made. Um and uh got to the hard rock, and uh yeah, then uh these fools decided let's get fucking hammered and I went to bed. Yeah, we had a night. We also we also caught uh 13 Brewing, Shannon. We got the shot as we were walking in. Shout out 13 Brewing. Uh, if you know you know, um he had to take off before we could actually rip it for the night, but uh yeah, what an interesting casino as well. Like so not Vegas, definitely not Vegas, definitely fun, and then the gay bars were pretty cool too. We were in a hurry to to get there, get checked in, and walk the rock with them. Uh and uh there was there was two bars in there that one was closed because there was nobody there to serve, and the other one had the TVs where we couldn't see them. So um we went into one of the restaurants, uh ate some dinner, and uh then went across the street, and that's when we found out that there's there it's you gotta be careful where what bars you step into. Yeah. Anyway, they were not they guys, chill, it's a joke. They were not gay bars. We'll let Dan explain in a second, but um, you figured it out, you figured it out, you figured it out. Um, no, but it's just crazy. You're in a casino and there's bars closed. Uh crazy. We played some craps as well, and uh we were teaching them how to pay out and place bets, and just not Vegas, not Vegas at all. But anyway, we were watching the game at the restaurant. It wasn't a bar, we were sitting at the bar. Uh we finished watching it in the room. Matt went to sleep, and then uh me, Jeremy, and Dan went to explore for a little bit. So we went to the closest bars there were. Yeah, Jeremy was five seltzers deeps and Jameson shots, and Joe was ten seltzers deep and Jamison shots. I could have I could have gone longer. I could have gone longer, but that was fun that night though. That was a fun night. That was a really fun night. So yeah, we go to this, we go to there's there's right outside our bar. There's two or right outside our restaurant. I mean, or the uh restaurant, there's two um bars or three bars. So anyway, we go into one, it's called uh what's it called, Joe? What was it? Sis Boom Ball or something like that or something. Church and state or church and street, work church, work church church, and then and then it was like bada bing bada boom barbecue or some shit like that. Chick-aboom chicken brown cow or something like that. Brown chicken brown cow. That was the name of the other bar. But no, we go into uh uh uh uh that what's it called? Work church? Work church, work church was the first one. Me and me and Matt were outside FaceTiming our wives and children. Yes, facetiming wives and children, deciding what's the best way to get Taco Bell delivered. Um the uh the oily chorizo. Yeah, might as well, might as well, Mike. No, so it wasn't a gay bar, but the bartender he was awfully feminine, and um so I he I made a you know off-color joke about that, and then shortly after that, like a couple of actual like gay dudes came in. So we had laughs about that. Um, but um, it was a lot of fun. We had uh we had some Jameson. We had some Jameson and uh Joe Joe got a uh Joe got a delivery by I think he said two gay guys delivered his taco. No, it it was it was a very flamboyant gentleman and his mother. Oh, that's what it was his mother was driving. And so the gay bar thing kept hit that was a theme of the night. And uh we stayed out, we stayed out for a few and uh went back to start a whatnot episode for Joe. But before that, we decided to make a stop at uh Matt's room and uh try to fuck with him, but uh we were all all just giggling and laughing and we woke his ass up before we screw with him, but it was still throwing hundred 100 footer putts down the hallway at the I didn't know you guys were still going out. I I thought we were done for the night, so I you know I'm like cool, I'm I'm good at I would have loved to have been there, but I'm really glad I wasn't. Yeah, yeah, it was a lot of fun, and that I mean, dude, golf trips with the homies. That's so much fun. That was that was the funnest night, I think. Yeah, without me. Yeah, no, you're you're an old timer, you know. I am new knee, you got your you're gotta get that rest. Yep, yeah, your knee was bubbling at points. We started hearing your knee move, and you know, it's creaking, gotta oil you up and get you to bed. Yep, and then I gotta come back to the room all hammered after going out, and then I gotta eat my Taco Bell from the flamboyant guys all silently and shit. I didn't even use hot sauce, but you couldn't hear me rip the pot the packet. I'm just like oh, he's being kind, he's being kind because he knew that he was gonna wake my ass up snoring the fucking wallpaper off the walls. Little did you know at the time, Joe, he was setting up his Star Wars alarm. Yes, yeah, yeah. Yeah, the Star Wars alarm, guys. Star Wars Alarm is amazing. The star the no we can't. This guy, dude. We the more no, we can't. Oh, that's not it. This one the uh but happy birthday. Yeah, I'm waking up in the morning, like full dreaming, full dreaming. I took some functional mushrooms and I'm full dreaming, and it's like the empire is about to strike back. Yep, yeah, Jedi Joe woke up and was not happy with the force. That thing like made him jump out of bed too. It was a joke. I did get kind of used to it, but you know, I get it, I get the alarm clock, I get it, but uh we live two different lives and we're alive and we're still here, thankfully. So yeah, but yeah, that was on me because we stayed out too light, too late, and I didn't eat too much. So the next morning uh we get up and we had some time to kill before going to land, man.
Ostad's Golf Shop Visit & Old Dane Preview
So we wanted to go check out what's the golf shop called, Jeremy. Ostead's ads, yep. Oh wow, Ostead's. Uh yeah. Oh, yeah. After a night of drinking, I remember the golf shop. Wow, look at that guy. No, I was surprised as Jeremy, and like it came out of your voice. That was that was weird. Threw me off. Uh, so we Jeremy was hungover. Osteads wasn't open, Jeremy wasn't feeling well. Yeah, Osted's wasn't open yet. So we went to Starbucks and got Jeremy some Starbucks. Actually, we all had Starbucks. That's when Jeremy's like, Can you drive? Because I'm afraid I can't move. Yeah, I can't move my head one way or the other. Dan's having to like pick up things off the floor for me. Yeah, it was it was bad. So uh then we got out beds. We'll get out, we'll get to the shout-out beds. Shout out beds up in the chat. Shout out beds. Ex-Ostad's employee here. Hell yeah, shout out beds. And no, we didn't make it out to Taco John's no bed, but uh but we saw it. We saw we did go by one, heard about heard of it, but we didn't stop, unfortunately. Run was kind of I don't know, it was kind of a disappointment for me. It it just need to it it was kind of like everything you would see on a my golf spy ad, you know, that's that was there. I know we talked about it. I thought it, I thought it was a worldwide golf shops shop, and I like it. You know, it was cool, it was cool, a little, you know, a little hometown golf shop, but it looked they carried the same things as worldwide golf shops do, and I had to buy a glove because mine ripped on the first round because it was so humid. Uh I bought it and he's like, Do you have an account? I'm like, Yeah, yeah, uh worldwide golf shops, right? And he's like, No, I'm like, this fool's lying out of his teeth. He has no idea that there are worldwide golf shops. I'm like, not worldwide golf shops. He's like, No, no, we're our own thing. And I was like, Well, you can try it, like thinking that he's for sure gonna be wrong. And then I'd give him my phone number. He's like, No, it's not in there. I'm like, fuck, I look like a loser now because I could have sworn it was a worldwide golf shop. Loser. Loser. Yeah. Yeah, cool little golf shop. The used club section was very slim. Very slim. There wasn't a lot in there, and it was a lot of uh Iowa golf stuff. Yeah, yeah. Um wasn't wasn't that impressed. Yeah, no, it was actually it was carbless, a drink called carbless, yeah. He says fuck Iowa, of course. It's basically like golf USA, but I worked at the main store in two falls. It was 75% the size of a PGA superstore. Yeah, this one was this thing was for Taco Johns. This thing was a Taco Johns. I've seen Wendy's that had bigger lobbies, so yeah, yeah. This is a small boy. Don't like Iowa, uh wow. Well, that makes sense. That checks so then after I ofter Ostad's, uh, we still had just a little bit of time to kill, so we swung by Old Dane. Old Dane, yes, and uh, I'm sure a lot of people in the area that are golfers know what old Dane is, but Old Dane was a nine hole golf course that was the original landman, it was the original uh Norway farmer land uh that they started. Golf course. Yep. Yep. Yep. Um, yeah. From there, their horizons and big eyes got big, and they, you know, you know, every if you don't know the story of Landman, there's a great documentary. Go watch it. Um, yes. But this was this was their golf facility before Landman became what it is today. And since Landman is absolutely killing it, and they've got this great little property, uh, they are redesigning it to be a 12-hole course. Uh, it's not open yet. Uh, a lot of the shaping's done. There's a lot of grass coming in, there's still some greens and everything that need to be completed. Uh, but we got to go, we walked up, parked in the parking lot, walked up, checked out the you know, the clubhouse is empty and gutted, so there's a lot that still has to go on there. But uh, we could see the a couple of the holes. They have a really big putting green that's got a big bunker in the middle of it. Yeah, really cool. Like a giant bagel. Um, that's gonna be a lot of fun because it's got some great undulation, and there's gonna be a ton of putts out there that you can make. Uh, we saw a couple of the holes going coming in. We looked at the property. Yeah, we saw the volcano hole, and then as we were leaving, we stopped on the on the highway because it was elevated, and looked down on on it, and it's gonna be a fantastic little property. Yeah, so um what they are doing, they're transforming it from a nine-holer to a twelve-holer. Um, it's not done by King Collins, which King Collins did the landman project. This one is done by one of their proteges, and uh, there's gonna be some character out there for sure because King Collins definitely loads some shit up with some some character. Um, but like I think I was stepping when we were up, when we walked up to the green, I think we were maybe we were on a double green for sure, but dude, there's a little knob right there, like there's a knob, and it looks like a sick ass green. Uh, even and when we pulled when we pulled around and pulled over on the side of the road, like they're doing work. They were hoping it was gonna be done this fall, but uh we talked to the starter at Landman, he said probably next year. I know a lot of people were hope hoping for it to be done soon, but that's gonna be killer, and it's what probably 10 minutes down a dirt road from landman, yeah, 10-15 minutes, depending on how fast somebody's on your ass. Yeah, it's gonna be it's gonna be a great like addition to the landman character and property. I mean, I know it's not on property, but it's it's close enough where you can go do it, you know, and and you can go play landman, you go play the 12-holer, and I can see them incorporating it into your landman stay. Like, oh, you know, if you show up on property, we'll check you in, shuttle you over to old Dane. You can get in, you know, 12 holes, we'll bring you back. You can play your afternoon round, get up in the morning, play your round. If you want to play it again, we'll shuttle you back in the afternoon type thing. So King Beautiful Golf Course does not know King Coggins. King Congens. I know he knows. He's fucking messing with us. It's Tad King and uh Rob Collins, if you guys don't know. Killer Killer Golf Course, they're blowing up, killer killer designers are blowing up, doing stuff all over the world. Um, not all over the world, but all over the country, and uh they're of Sweeten's Cove fame. Yeah, Joe likes because Joe's played Sweetens, so it's I've not played Sweeten's Cove, I've not played Sweeten's Cove. We did do that math, and yeah, I've played 13% of Sweeten's Cove.
Course Review: Landmand Golf Club
Um all right, so from Old Dane, we left, uh drove over to Landman, rode up top, uh, unloaded the bags, got on the carts, and I will say everybody there is so freaking nice. Yeah. Nice. Weirdly nice. Weirdly nice. Uh, it's like when you go to Alabama, everybody there is just so freaking friendly. It's it's and you know, we're in a city where you know, we got off and we got in the car, and it took 30 seconds for somebody to blow their horn and flip the bird to somebody as we were leaving the airport. Like, man, it's crazy. It's so nice in the Midwest. Shout out to the city. We got some uh we didn't get any lunch. Uh, we just kind of hung out, did some shopping in the Pro Shop, and uh then headed out to the golf course. And it was it was a warm afternoon, it wasn't hot, it was just warm. There wasn't a lot of cloud coverage, so the sun was beating down on us. Uh the course is dry in the afternoon because you know they water typically in the morning, and and yeah, Pyuka take some notes. I agree with. And we got out there and and had an absolutely fantastic day. It was Dan's first time playing there. Joe was so excited to get Dan's reaction. Can we say the joke on YouTube or no? Oh, correctly. I don't know. Can we? Yeah, no, you said it. Yeah, I I said we were getting the bags out, and the carts were there, and and you know, you you know who's riding with who? Jeremy and Dan are like cart buddies, even though Dan never drives. I didn't know he's never driven. I've never seen Dan drive a golf cart. I didn't even realize that I never realized that. And I almost when we rode together, I almost switched the bags real quick just to make him drive because I wanted to see it. Uh, so I said always drives. Matt's always like, Hey, put me in the driver. I just like driving. So uh I I said I'll ride with Jeremy because I know Joe wants to suck Dan's cock the whole time. And to give context around that, the thing with golf trips and going to places like that is Joe is more excited about showing someone a course than actually going back there. That's like the highlight for him. Like when we went to Bandan, he was more excited for me to experience it because he has already done that and he's he wants to relive that through me. So he was doing the same thing with Dan, and so that's the context. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, the timing was impeccable. It was all we've heard for 10 months is I can't wait to see Dan there. I can't wait to see Dan there. I can't wait to see Dan there. Anytime Dan's not around, I can't wait to see Dan there. So, Dan, tell the people what you thought, and no, you can hurt Joe's feeling. I'm just kidding. Let everybody know what you thought about. No, um definitely not gonna hurt his feelings because uh Lamb Man was sick. Um uh of course, you know, I've seen pictures and stuff, so I had a little bit of an idea of what to expect, but actually being there and actually seeing it, it's the pictures really don't do it justice. It is such an expansive place, it is massive and and it is spread all over. I mean, you could see there's like no, there's a couple of holes where they're like somewhat close to each other, but for the most part, when you're on one hole, you can look two, three miles in the other directions and you'll see the rest of the golf course. I mean, it just like it expands everywhere, and it is massive, it is very, very wide, uh, generous fairways. Um same with the greens, some of the biggest greens I've ever seen in my life, maybe the biggest greens I've ever seen in my life, if I actually if I actually do the square footage on these greens. Um it is a it's a fair golf course for as big as it is and as undulated it is, it's very fair because I think the greens are so big that even if you kind of miss the the section that the pin is on, it's it's designed fair enough where you can still play it from any spot on the green. Um, you definitely have to use your imagination on that on that golf course, um, which I love. Um, because here in Vegas, you know, everything's pretty straightforward. You don't there's not really any creative courses out here. So to play courses like that where you can use your imagination and bring it off of slopes and hills and stuff, that's it's a lot of fun. Um, so for that aspect, Landman was fantastic. Um the the the greens were really good too. I kind of I kind of thought they'd be like Bandon, like a little bit windburnt, a little bit sandy, like sometimes like sheep ranch can get on certain holes, but it's nothing like that. Those greens out there are plush. And so that was they were a touch slow, but they've just come off. You can see they just come off the punching and stuff like that, too. But uh the golf course was great, and um I re I really liked it. It's uh if you haven't been out there, it's a tough tea time to get, but if you haven't gone, you need to go. It is it is sick, especially for for a guy's trip. That is that was a lot of fun. All right, give me give me three things you loved and three things you didn't. Uh three things I loved were one, the design, um, two, the just just kind of like how underdeveloped it is. It's still got like a little bit of charm to it because it's got a very small golf shop, but the golf shop's loaded with great stuff. Um, the little food truck on the side, the like eight-person wide range, you know, little stuff like that, the little the four cabins, you know, little stuff like that is kind of kind of gives like adds to the charm of the golf course. Um, the third thing about it, um, I would say is honestly is probably the merch and like the how they the stuff that they put out. Like, there's some a lot of sick merch. So the head covers were sick, the t-shirts were sick, the hats were sick, even though they weren't my style. Um, yeah, I mean, look at that tell. That's you don't it was the giveaway tonight, guys. That's the giveaway, you know. And and for as new of a course, you know, it kind of it was nice. It was a nice surprise to see. It almost feels like a secret. It kind of is. It almost feels like I mean, I'm not a member of it, but it almost feels like you're at a private club. Like, like all this like little quaint, cool stuff, it felt like it was just for you, especially because like there was hardly anybody there, like it wasn't like crowded, like most people we saw were like maybe like eight to twelve people at one time up there on the hill, you know. So that was that was very cool. I like that a lot. The three things I didn't like, um the bugs. They weren't that bad, but a couple of times I had some in the ear, flying up the nose and stuff like that. So that was kind of that was kind of annoying. Um, can I add one thing else I liked? The walk-up music. Yeah, the one that's yeah, I think that's a every course do so. I think that's a dope touch. Um back to the things I don't like. Um I would say the range. Um even though it's cool and it's quaint and all that stuff, but you don't hit into anything, it's just like long grass and like nothing in it straight downhill. We didn't even we didn't even hit on the range at all. I know we didn't hit on the range, but I looked at it and stuff, so that was one thing where I thought maybe could have been a little bit better. Um, and then probably the third thing the bathroom locations, maybe yes, yes, the bathroom locations, definitely, definitely, because I missed every opportunity to take a shit, and I was hurt by the end of that round. Um, so so yeah, yeah, please, more more bathrooms. We were even planning, like, okay, the group behind us is three holes behind. If we drive to the cabin, which is about 15 minutes away, and we make it back. Yeah, Joe did that. He's like, We're on we're on the ninth green, and Joe's like, I'll be right back. Yes, he did. I gotta run back to the outhouse. Yeah, see, that's always thinking ahead. Radio Shack. I used to work at Radio Shack, always thinking transistor radios, you know what I mean? Like always thinking about how things connect, but no. I think that clubhouse is so perfect too, and just the the the golf course that you get to play. I mean, my whole thing with Landman, I love it because you can just be creative out there. You can be if you're if you're a golfer that likes hitting in different areas, not just flying at the pin, like it's just creative. I I don't think I've ever played another golf course where you can just be that creative, you can hit it, hit draws and bring it in, or you can hit putts that go up past, or you can take it off the green, come back, and like things like that. Like, dude. So I that's what I that's what the thing is for me. I'm I'm not a creative golfer. I I that's that's not my jam, that's not what I get out of the game. Um, it's in my opinion, it's it's not a difficult golf course. It's not a fairway, the fairways are really wide open, the greens are very big, and the ball does funnel towards certain areas to make some. I mean, you can get in situations where you're three putting or four putting really easily because the greens are so massive, and if you make a bad swing, um, but I I don't see that creative thing when I'm out there like you guys do. It's I mean it's fun watching you, you know, like you guys were on the the tenth hole, the big punch hole punch hole green. You guys just been there for for 20 minutes hitting balls and you know, and we finish the hole and we spend 15 minutes on the green, like just hitting different things, you know. Yeah, and to me, all right, you had your moment. Let me have mine, please. Go ahead and you don't to me that's not golf. That's just fucking around on it's just fucking around on a putt-putt course. It's it's not golf, you know. If if you know big shadow creek guy, big big wolf creek guy, this Matt guy. No, I'm not. I just I to me that's where the gimmicky factor comes in. It's it's you know, I it's fun, don't get me wrong, it's cool to do, but it's not golf. You know, if you're if you're out there to play the game, you're not three feet away from the hole and go, oh, let me hit this 50 feet up the hill and see if I can roll it back down to the thing. That's not golf, that's fucking around on a putting green. And so for me, it doesn't bring the same aspect that it does for you guys, you know. It that's yeah, you enjoy doing that. I'm not against the tea. Yeah, it's just not my thing. So it's that's that's where I see the as some of those holes as as incredibly gimmicky. I got that. Not all of them, not all of them. There's some really fucking banger holes out there, too. Don't get me wrong, there's there is some fantastic golf holes out there. Um, I just that creative thing, I just don't see it out there because it's not that's not the way I play the game. Yeah, yeah, I understand. Next time we go to play Mike's Transcourse. Next time we go play Mike's trans course, Matt's not invited. Okay, he's gonna hate them, they're gimmicky. Yep, yep. God's off the loop. He's gonna hate every Mike's trans course ever. Probably. Probably no, I think I think you would like Mike's transmore. Not as not as drastic. Landman is drastic. Landman's drastic creativity, artistry. It's so much fun. Uh you can spend you could spend hours on every green, you could spend 18 hours out there just putting different putts on those greens. So I think that's a good thing. That's why like one of the reasons why Landman's has been my favorite course since we played it last year, is it's such an outlier from everything else that we play. There's nothing else like it. But wait a minute, Jeremy. You did say I did. You did say that Bannon Trails has surpassed Landon and Pactoons. Or Pactoons, sorry, Pactoons. Yeah. But I think the it's the lure of only playing Pactoons one time and playing through injury and still enjoying the course that maybe tops it, but yeah. It's just overall, it's just too hard to pick a favorite, is what I've rehearned over the last few years. They're so different, they're so different. They're so different. But that's what I love about Landman. It's it's there's nothing else like it. From T from first hold all the way through the round, there's nothing else that is like Landman. No, it's very unique, very unique property. All right, so uh had some fun that evening uh on the putting green, and then um we went to the cabin and we did some lives on YouTube. If you guys are watching the show right now and you have not gone back and watched those lives, they're there, you can watch them. Uh, we were hanging out on the back patio hitting balls at some uh construction or some farm equipment, and uh everybody hit everybody hit the little silo thing but me, and then I proceeded to bang 70 balls until I did. I was not quitting. He was tired. Uh yeah, I was just giving a bucket. Yep. Uh so that was fun. So go watch that. Uh, got up the next morning and had some breakfast. Uh, the the breakfast burritos that they had there were really good. The move is the fruit parfait. That thing looked fantastic, Joe. That was like it was nicely made and everything. It was it was fantastic. Fantastic. Uh the burritos are great, but the fruit, I mean, if it was I don't eat fruit and yogurt bowls very often, but when I do, I want to be a man, man. Yeah, man. Uh so we played that round, and then we had a morning round, we were the first out. I thought it was hilarious because by the fifth hole, there was nobody even close to us. Um, we came off the 18th green. The starter came over and goes, What'd you guys skip five holes? Skip five holes. Um, yeah, you know, it's we we do play fast. It's it's not, you know, it we we we get around the corner. It's hard. Yeah, it's not hard. And that was play fast. And that was fucking around a lot, too, you know, on on the greens. Uh uh, so from there, uh loaded up the car, said goodbye to Landman, and headed back south to the place called Omaha
Course Review: Omaha Country Club
Country Club. Shout out beds. Shout out OCC, Beds. Shout out Alex, shout out beds. What a delight that was. Yes. Wow. Yeah. Um I found out quickly there that my desert golf game does not transfer to thick rough. Because uh, as somebody that doesn't play in thick rough very often, I got a little taste of it at River Wilds. Um but oh my god. Quarry Oaks, uh Indian Trails, and Indian Omaha Country Club. Or Indian Creek, sorry, and Omaha Country Club. Holy crap, that is a penalty for being in the rough. It is it is so damn hard to get the ball out of that shit. And I should play it black. I just said the hell with it. I am just gonna get a six-iron, squeeze like I'm taking the life out of a python, and just hit the ball as hard as I can, and that helped. It's uh man, wild, wild, wild hitting out that stuff. So you know, I I went the last couple days and I've been watching uh some highlights from the 2021 US Senior Open or Champions Tour Open, and watching those guys hit out of that, and with the efficiency that they hit out of that stuff and make great shots, it's impressive. When when yeah, when you when you play like the rough like that and you watch the pros play out of that type of rough, you're like, how the fuck do they do that? It's insane. It's remarkable what they can pull off. They pull some fucking rabbits out the hat for sure. All right, Jeremy. Uh, let's get your thoughts on Omaha Country Club. Uh Omaha Country Club was my favorite course of our trip that we played. Shout out beds. Um shout out beds for sure. The Pro Shop was great, lots of cool stuff. It just felt it just felt old and like um special. Like when you go to those clubs like the ones that you see on T V, tour players playing it every week. I mean, it just felt like it was such an opportunity for us to play there. Um the practice facility looked amazing when you pull right into the to the drive in. Clubhouse is awesome. Classic, um, trees everywhere, elevation changes. The greens were awesome, slightly slow, but um man, that's my favorite type of golf course. Like, I could play that type of golf course every single day. Yeah, I agree with you on that. The pool gave me total caddyshack vibes. Oh, yeah, classic country club pool. Yep. The the clubhouse, the the locker room was very classic, down in the basement. You know, the the saloon doors, yep, saloon doors, locker rooms, yeah. Yep, the the shoes on top of all the lockers. I mean, it was just it was a very classic locker room feel. Um you know, it was far enough away to not disturb the people that are there having dinner or having you know lunch in the restaurant. It's it's over there, you know, it's where the men have their cigars, and you know, it's just it felt very, very classic. Yeah, the whole the I mean the whole thing for me was like the the pro shop was uh just a subset of what they actually do and the country club and like the driving up the country club is brick and just classic, and then going to the shop, and there's like a little there's like a little half room upstairs where the women's clothes are and the carpet, and then you go around to the to the to the locker room, you walk down the stairs, and there's just all these like plaques of things, past champions, past member member champions, the the club champions, and then you you walk, you go to the where's the bathroom? Oh, it's it's it's over there, and you get the saloon doors, and the fucking bathroom is leaking, and it's hot, and you know, they got one shower, one stall, and it just feels so classic and just so cool. And then you get out on the golf course and you feel almost like you're at Augusta National, almost had definitely a ton of those vibes, and the the the sand is white, and you know, there's these low areas where you can see other holes, and it just felt like just classic Perry Maxwell. Shout out Perry Maxwell. The club actually opened in 18 or 19, uh 1899, and then they moved it to a different location. Perry Maxwell comes in, makes it, and then there's free cookies. There's on the front nine. Shout out the front nine because you passed the turn shack twice. Free cookies, free hard-boiled eggs. Uh, yeah, it was bomb, too. The cookies were fantastic. The molasses cookie, the the macadamia was my favorite. Just that lemon was good. The lemon is fantastic, and you go, How much are these cookies? They're like, Oh, they're free. Okay, dope. And the hard-boiled eggs, you know. Like, yeah, we're gonna need a cookie refill on the first starter's head, please. Yep, and it uh honestly, what hole was that? Was that seven, seven, eight? No, it was six, six, seven, eight, six. The just reverse number ten at Augusta all day. Yep, the par five. Yeah, oh yeah, that thing was sick, and then number nine coming up to the clubhouse. You see that brick, that brick clubhouse in the back. I mean, just a banger experience, like so cool. And then logo the logo. The rat, yeah, logo's perfect. Routing, I thought was perfection. I love how they kind of crisscross back through to go back to the clubhouse. Um, I feel like uh the tree, some of those narrow the t-shots they make you think because they place those trees a little bit too far out. You have to hit a shot around them. Um, I think the green complexes were amazing, but my favorite part were the par threes because they'll have the par threes, they go they kind of blend into other holes, like you're hitting towards another hole, and the green is just a turtle shell sitting out in the middle of this field with bunkers, you know, around it, false fronts, everything. I thought the par threes were spectacular there. They were fantastic, man. I'm glad we got to play that. Yeah, shout out to what a what a place, man. I could see myself being a member there, you know. 100%. Yeah, I could I could play there every day. And I mean, it wasn't that bad of a price, to tell you the truth. Um, I'm sure they have limitations on on how many people can join, and I'm sure there's probably a wait list uh with the way golf is blowing up, but it it not as nearly as bad as some of the places around here. Okay, wow, it was wild. I mean 300 to play a like a Perry Maxwell private course in Omaha that's just classic banger, like all day, all day, all day.

I'm gonna cook you, dog. All right. Uh so then we crashed for the night and then went, um, got up the next morning, and we had an early tea time at what was my favorite course of the trip, Quary Oaks.
Course Review: Quarry Oaks & The Dynamite Hole
I think that was like the most sleeper that we played. Absolutely sleeper unbelievable golf course. Great golf course, yes, right there. The dynamite logo. So Joe's got one, I've got one. I got this one too. Absolutely sick logo. That's not their main logo, that's just one hole. Their alternate, that's their alternate logo. So Cory Oaks, yeah, that's their main logo right there. You got the value of the couch. Cool. Well, that's because it's what's on the other side is why you got it. That's why. Yeah, that's why. Big title. Big title that just honestly, the most sleeper golf course that we played. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. You from the moment you pull on property. Now, if my only jab at Coryoaks would be the not the Pro Shop staff, but the outside services. Because the they had our names were on the carts, and they showed us to that cart, and that was the last time I spoke to anybody on outside services. Uh, we didn't know exactly where the range was, we didn't know where the first hole was. We kind of had to figure it out on our own. There was nobody, there was no starter, there was no, hey, it's your you know, college at the first T, none of that. So that may be what they do there. I don't know. Not saying that we didn't enjoy it, but that just could have made it maybe just a little bit better, considering everything else. Absolutely fire, fire club out. Mike, it's a it's a deep cut, it's a bad. I told you, I told him to do it. He won't listen to me. Maybe listen to you. The and also, um, we may have the head pro come on the show at some point. We Matt got his card, yeah. The GM. So we're gonna invite him on to talk about the place because it's uh it's a bad house. That clubhouse was one of the night. I mean, it it rivals Southern Highlands Clubhouse. Yeah, if you if you're in the area, go play it now because that place is probably gonna turn private at some point soon. Go knock it off because it's sick. The outside patio decking was phenomenal. The the brick and the wood, the bar was amazing, the pro shop was fantastic. Um, yeah, and the golf course was a sleeper. Yeah, holy crap. The golf course was sick, dude. Yeah, I like the back nine a shit ton. That back nine was killer. That back nine was so good, and so it it used to be uh a quarry, and they the course put on it in 24, I think. Big renovation, it's been closed, it hasn't been open very long. Uh they did a big renovation on it, and when they were closed, yeah, when they were moving a lot of the dirt, they knew about this dynamite bunker, but they weren't a hundred percent sure about it. And they had maps where they thought it was, and as they started moving dirt, it kind of just appeared, and they realized this can't go, it can't go anywhere, it has to be part of it. Uh, they redid it. The bunker door is there, you can see it, you can you know look inside, but then they created it and walked in. Oh, did you? Yeah, didn't know you did that. Uh so they're they created these this beautiful little staircase for the moment with super thick rebar as a handrail. You climb up top, and they have the the the dynamite, yeah. Uh T markers that they had somebody create. Uh, it's just it's a spectacular little hole that what's awesome, it's got a story behind it, you know. And they used it for the alternate logo, um, which you can totally see. Makes sense, right? It's like members only logo for a private club, you know. It's course all day. When it when a course can tell a story through a logo, that's one of the things I really, really love. Like, you know, like it was a quarry, they had to use dynamite during the renovation. They found the dynamite shaft and created a hole out of it, and it became the secondary logo. And if you have not been there, you would not understand. And like, it's a story, they're telling a story through the logo and the golf course, and also we didn't even mention the the little uh plot of land that's uh yeah, the cemetery, the cemetery, the four kids, which is awesome. It was creepy, but it's cool because that happened for fucking 175 years ago or something, and it was on that land, and like when you can tell a story through golf, like that's one of like that hits me in the gooseies, you know what I mean. Goose right in the goose, yeah. And the hole before the dynamite hole, you had the train rolling by, yeah, on that uphill parkour. Um, I mean, it it was just it, it's really well done. Uh it's it's amazing. I I was blown away, absolutely blown away. Also, shout out Nebraska Golf putting multiple turnshacks on the front nines and the back nines. Ones that you can pass by a couple times. That's dude, they killed it on that. Yeah. The T Lou, the goose are the goosebumps when it hits you in the it which when you hit when it hits you in the feelers. Matt says the gooseies, so when it hits your when it hits your soul, see, there's a soul golfer down deep in there, Matt. I won't cry, but I will get the goose and standing on that dynamite T-box, you get the gooseies. You got that river, the Platte View River in the background, and it's just and then Dan from the back tees almost dunked it. I mean, his pitch mark was two, three inches next to the hole. He was impressive. Jeremy had a great shot at it, too. Oh, yeah, both of you guys did. Jeremy was like six, seven feet away. The Redan hole at Landman. I've I've never felt more confident that I was getting out of the city. Oh, dude, you must have you must have come so close to holding that out. That thing never in my life. Yeah, I felt more confident with that than when you saw mine go in at Cascada. I was like, that's going in. I wasn't my heart, wasn't even racing. He just knew it. That's in, that's for sure. In and then meanwhile, at Cascada five years ago, Matt's going, it's in. I'm like, no, it's not, it's not in. 70% of that ball was over the hole. Yeah. Yeah, I know. But that redan that Redan at Landman. I think I'm gonna make that. I think I'm gonna make that a t-shirt with you standing there just that would be good. It's a great t-shirt. Uh so after uh I didn't want to leave, um, but there was a testicle festival going on next door. Yes, yeah, the testicle that we had to go to. What was that steakhouse, Joe? You remember the name? Uh Round Table or what was it? Round Yeah, something like that. Something like that. Yeah, there's a steakhouse next door. Uh, but we had we had another tea time uh on the northern, northwestern part of Omaha at Indian Creek, uh, which is home to the
Course Review: Indian Creek & Rain Delay
what is it? The Kinnacle Bank Corn Ferry Tour. Right by the Walgreens, right by right by the course. We got to play a course that has hosted a U.S. major open championship for the champions tour. And then we also got to play a course that hosts a corn ferry event each year. And uh those greens were really good too. Those, yeah, those were good too. That was a good course. That was another good course. Um, it was weird how it was just kind of like on a street corner, you know. It was like very busy, very busy. Um decent, decent pro shop. You could tell they've remodeled there. There's some new new smells of new uh new tile and new carpet. And you know, it's it's been and big old dogs, big old turn, big old hot dogs. Um, but that was a fun golf course. Uh, we got uh drenched. That's that's when the the Omaha skies opened up on the 13th hole. And uh let us know how much rain we don't know about here living in Vegas. Yeah, I I have a pair of underarmor pants that I always wear when it's cold and wet out here um that have never done me wrong. They lasted maybe a minute, and they were so they were all my stuff in the bag, and uh yeah. So we got that's another video we did a live as we were seeking shelter. Um Joe's a big TikTok guy. If you guys didn't know, he posted some stuff on TikTok. Surf shack. We were deciding do we just call it or or what do we do? So we waited out a little bit and said let's just go play
Late Night Drives in Nebraska
a scramble. So the last uh six holes we just played a scramble, fun golf course, fun golf course. Um great greens, too, really good greens, great greens. Um and so that night. So Joe, is this is this the where you said that you weren't proud? Is that is that this night or was that in Sioux City Falls? Yeah, no, that was that was this night. All right, so what what weren't you proud of? I wasn't proud that I trusted my life with payment failed. Yeah, I mean we drove four and a half areas. Show him how you do in Nebraska. I mean, I get it, right? He's from a little small town in Nebraska. He's been waiting for this. Look at him, he was ready. Yep, but we were staying at Hampton Inn, shout out payment failed, driving four hours to come hang out with us. Much respect for that. I just wish there was Ubers. Hey, welcome to the good life. You know what I mean? Uh, we did not die, Teresa. No, we did not die, but I was worried for a while, and uh, we lived to see another day. Anyway, we went we went over to uh the the nearest uh sports bar to the Hampton Inn. Payment comes down, varsity farmers varsity sports bar, shall farmers night's game. I need I want a day in the Montreal game. Yeah, I want a day in the life of payment failed. I want to know more about farming in Nebraska, but anyway, you guys, you guys tuckered out. We knew it was coming. Yeah, I saw him put down three very large double vodka lemonades in paper. I know this. Course Review: Bent Tree
I mean but I get it right like he's from the middle of nowhere he doesn't he doesn't see a lot of cool things like we do the sound hill the sound hills have eyes I'm just yeah the head hills have eyes that's hilarious sleep by four on the road by eight yeah just a quick nap that's that's a farmer life man a shout out shout out america's farmers they supply your food keeping America fed work they work a lot uh payment failed total total respect for payment failed they're growing our food spraying them with pesticides make sure you wash that shit off but uh keeping America fed and uh I love my boy Austin even though he's a fucking crazy wild man when he drinks 87 double vodka lemonades wow wow he walked in double vodka lemonade just keep him coming yeah just keep him coming all right so the next morning we get up check out the hotel it's been raining all night there was tornado warnings in the area red bands of water all across the city so we said uh yeah let's go play golf uh headed into Iowa we were kind of excited to play bent tree and uh the one absolutely fantastic thing about bent tree those were the best greens we played best screen best greens for sure no doubt by far unbelievable greens those greens were weirdest weirdest layout it was so strange it was such an odd layout and uh mostly the front yeah the front the back was good yeah the like the last nine had some character for sure last five holes had some character for sure but that front nine it's like they did nine holes like a lot of they do out there and they went oh shit we can make this 18 let's just take that field and throw six holes over there you know it it was just odd and uh it was car path only which they it they did say they tried to call Jeremy to let him know uh they did tell us ahead of time but they didn't call they didn't call they did not but they let us know ahead of time yeah it's car path only and we can see why it some of the pictures I posted you can see that's a tough car path only golf course that was yeah pretty bad sometimes it was the roughest cart path only golf course I think I've ever played because the cart path is nowhere near the T boxes or the greens and and uh some of the some of the bunkers were lakes Dan yeah Dan hit this tee shot on a part five and we're watching it we're thinking it's gonna fly the bunker and there's just this explosion of water like a torpedo dropped in the ocean like a 400 pounder jumped in the pool. I mean it was boom um yeah there was water everywhere uh the pace was not good because the group in front of us was three really bad golfers and the group in front of them was really bad golfers even worse golfers yeah um yeah it was bad but thankfully our flight got delayed yes yes because we were able to finish we would not we wouldn't have finished we would have to leave after like 14 which would have really sucked because we would have drove by all those great holes yeah yep yeah uh the only course we had that finished on a par three which yeah you know I don't mind it's very rare very rare you know it kind of boosts up your confidence to get out of there and and go play golf again um they let's see Bentry Fair always looks stupid narrow there was some that were pretty narrow they they were just odd like none of them were they weren't long there they were just I don't know it's just odd it was visually it was visually down landman yeah very watered very very watered down there was a lot of areas that people were walking around looking for golf balls a lot and that and I don't think it was because the fairways were narrow I just think they the land didn't permit them to have a fairway where it could have benefited the golfers it was just a lot of tall grass areas that golf balls are going to end up there no matter what you know and and yeah so I yeah that back nine ball of course but the back nine was really was good I didn't front nine but it was just they were they were so different. That one dog leg left up the hill where you had no idea where you were hitting it remember that one that was that's one Joe made an incredible parsafe on yes yes yeah that's where I hit driver into the thick shit on the right hit six iron to the thick shit on the left hit six iron to the thick shit in front of the thick shit on the left and then hit six iron on the green yeah that shit is thick there that was that was a quirky hole that you actually had no idea where and even the 18 birdies it like oh it just dog legs a little no that that dog legged a lot oh okay I know which one you're talking about now shit yeah but that par five after that was pretty sick we couldn't figure out why they named it bent tree because but I think we finally found it right that parfive down the hill had sort of a bent tree maybe kinda kinda I mean this this is one of those areas like for nerds like us like where the dynamite logo is so cool to us because it makes so much sense and it tells a story like and with bent tree it's like well where is the bent tree I didn't see anything bent I didn't see a bent tree there was no bent tree exactly and that's where like a lot of golf courses miss you know what I mean like if there was a bent tree that was like on the signature hole or something that gave us emotion dude we we probably would have bought a bunch of merch if there was like a secondary logo for that you know what I mean like like we did for Cory Oaks with the dynamite like tell the story through your logo I know it's hard uh Midwest rough is tough after playing in Vegas all year semi rough at best absolutely I I learned I learned no it it it was it was on the greens favorite greens but not best greens yeah best greens 100 fantastic and it wasn't even close i mean yeah uh Omaha Country Club was really good and Indian Creek was really good Cory Oaks was really good flawless I think it's I think when we say like Omaha Country Club's greens were perfect they were just slower than we liked and none of us could hit a putt to the hole but this place they were pure and fast.
Trip Scoring & Individual Player Averages
Well also Omaha Country Club was the reading those greens was so confusing. Yeah we were after after playing land and there we were we were done with trying to read greens could not read greens the Midwest and so I did I don't know if I saved it to the my file that I can see it real quick. I went through and what was that game called where um you guys were I forget the name of what it was but yeah you keep your score throughout the entire trip and you take your best score from every hole I forget the name of it but play we played seven rounds so we played seven different 18 hole courses take your best score from one two three four so on and that that's your your golf trip score yeah so uh Dan had a 55 Jeremy had a 56 you guys finally broke 60 I had I think mine was 63 or 64 and Joe's was like 68. It was it was uh pretty cool i i thought i saved it to my drive but i guess i just saved it to my laptop so i'll uh i'll post that on a story so everybody can see what it was but that was fun that was fun um i think dan i think you averaged 73 and jeremy averaged 74 over all the rounds we played let's go jay yeah yeah let's go not bad he's he's a damn good putter he's a damn good putter check out damn goodputter.com grab yourself i had i had a couple chip ins so i was happy about that yep we didn't even talk about your chip in on landman number what yeah oh my what a fucking shot from you could only see the top you can only see the the the wind uh what are they called wind sock wind sock flag that's all you could see opened up the 16 just threw it up there and it rolled right in but didn't even see to happen yep and bob and colby went and played landman on Friday right Friday morning yeah they both loved it it's I mean we all knew Bob would love landman that's just what how his mind works it would be interesting to get his full take on it though what is it chasingdaylight podcast dot com yeah that's the website uh I have we have some merch uh it's on the website chasing daylight podcast dot com uh there's a shop there's a pro shop on there we got some stuff uh we have some stuff coming and uh you know let us know what you want we'll make it happen uh we have some ball markers on order I gave Joe the money 14 months ago still waiting for them to come in I spent it on Toba Chico's I spent it on Toba Chico's yeah give me more I need to order more ball markers I have more designs look at that oh my god I didn't realize that we might be we might be yeah you're a redneck for sure bro that's brown that's the that's really bad bro no no that's that's my tan look at you look like near ice cream right now a whoop band is canadian milk farmers let's go yeah see i got a little bit of it dude my nose is like peeling i should put more sunscreen on farmers farmersonly.com tan farmers only tan all right so this is this is my suggestion if if you're gonna play if you if you're looking for a place to go play some golf Omaha has some fire uh landman everybody that is in the golf space or is a golfer and and does golf trips knows about landman definitely try to get yourself a tea time there uh they have open tea times where if you don't have to stay so if you're in the area you can try and get on that's how Bob and Colby did it um but if you want to stay in the cabins which is a treat um you got to get on early when they go up for sale and knock that out and check it out but do not miss Orioaks that is an absolute fire golf course uh Omaha Country Club is private Indian Creek is public Bentry is public and River Wilds is public River Wilds is a sleeper course you will have a blast playing there uh very very Muni vibes um classic golf course great routing uh we had a blast but quarry oaks if if you're in the area and you have not played that it is an absolute must I think we all can agree with that absolute must play hold on uh oh you said river wilds is a great routing it is it's a fun little route it's nothing special it's there wasn't anything bad about the routing I don't think I don't think any in if any if you play a golf course and you have to play a hole and you got to turn around and drive back to another T-box that's not a great routing so sorry was one for you talking about that par five and then the par three yeah yes yeah that's not a great routing that's not a great routing you said great routing my apologies I'm talking about the beginning where it goes up and then it goes down then comes up and goes down great holes you're saying good holes good holes get his ass Joe get his ass Joe yeah I I can go dude I can go in it's a good routing there you better there's one there's one fucked up hole other than that it's a good routing dude Matt loves River Wild so much i i think it was okay i think it was okay you only tell me riverwild tell me tell me a golf course opener tell me a golf course in vegas right now that has better conditions oh so you're talking conditions are you talking course i'm talking about i'm talking about the golfing experience and conditions is part of the golfing experience i'd i'd play pyute all day or or coyote or boulder creek all day over those i'm sorry the conditions at boulder creek are not better than river wild no way we're not talking about conditions we're talking about golf i just said conditions okay conditions yeah shadow creek there you go pyute all day over river wilds all day the routing there was there wasn't there
Final Midwest Course Rankings Debate
was some there was some bland holes out there is what i'm saying they're very bland holes there was maybe eight really cool holes that was joe's worst round too by the way that's fine he doesn't like it i don't i'm not good at golf i'm not good at golf anymore guys uh sign sound the alarms i'm i don't play good golf but i still enjoy cool golf courses and river wilds was cool but it wasn't the greatest it was better than bentry i'd argue that i'd argue that too okay yeah you had did you have your best round did you have your best round at river wilds no i had my best round at landman okay okay so matt rank them just rank the courses yeah what did you have what did you think jeremy before we ranked jeremy river wilds what did you think i know i'm alone in this it's okay it felt it it was it felt like a muni normal muni but the can it conditions were above expectation one two was sick three was i forgettable straight ten was kind of wild ten was like a wild ass golf hole where it was just a full elbow yeah yeah yeah yeah the part the par five with the skin wasn't the dog leg it was an elbow the par five we hit by the chicken coop yeah yeah that was a cool one with that shoot yeah the par three through the trees three was par three over the over the little crick was good jay was ten the dog leg where me you and i could cut the corner over the trees yes that was that's a good that's an okay hole i don't know that was it's it's very it's very gimmicky it's super gimmicky super gimmicky yes in blair yeah in blair blair yeah yes in blair sorry shot our garden grips um yeah it's where blair witch project was filmed yeah blair witch project well no no no not saying it's pyute level i i he said not saying that at all no no get him you get him user dash fb5 u p6 eq five u he doesn't know yeah who is that i will eat crow on that i fucked up and forgot pyute and i said earlier of course not name shadow creek so i love uh yeah i we met crow on that paiute conditions we all know that and hey it's number one two and three in our rankings every year so that's that's not a that's not a too funny no all right so uh where were you sorry Jeremy go ahead Jeremy Jeremy go ahead sorry I I think uh I mean yeah I actually preferred Bentry I think over River Wild but I mean they were it was 5050 yeah so my rankings one was Corey oaks uh two would be Omaha Country Club uh three landman four Indian Creek and five Bentry oh and uh River Wild would be above Bentry sorry five River Wild six Bentry yeah okay Omaha Country Club Landman Cory Oaks uh Indian Creek Bentry I do have a crush on it he's crushing so hard Mike look at him look at those stars in his eyes no it's it's it's nothing special I will tell you that right now there's nothing special about it but it it caught me by surprise I was not expect I was expecting the meadows right that's what I was expecting and so expectations were very low and it exceeded it big time but dash FB5 UP that's probably me and I can explain why but wait hang on Joe what was your rankings i uh landman landman landman landman landman no no no no it's it's kind of a hard one uh landman landman landman landman okay go ahead sorry no i'd I'd probably they're so different it's so hard to rank courses it it really is because everything is so different I mean I could play landman Omaha and Quoreokes on a loop I love the creativity that you can play at Landman I'd probably but the the thing is like I love Quoreyokes too but the history of Omaha Country Club like that's where you know I I love golf course architecture I love the history so that's where it's really hard for me and I love the creativity that you can play so those guys are top three debatable where they can go I would go and then so land man's and Omaha Country Club top three um bent tree and then River Wild's last and the top three are like Bandon like picking your favorite child abandon is hard they're so different I this guy it's hard because you got a classic gem you got a new you're just like my fucking wife what do you want to go have for dinner I don't know what do you if I was given the opportunity to play somewhere else again now I've only played Koreokes once I'd probably go to Koreok because I've played Man Man four times now. So what was yours um I think mine's Omaha. Landman. Horiokes. Bentry. What's the last one? River Wilds. They fucked up on the name too. Rivers Wilds. Oh, I forgot Indian Creek too. Yeah, where's Indian Creek? Oh, I forgot about Indian Creek. Um Indian Creek River Wild. You got Bantry ahead of Indian Creek? Or no, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I might, yeah. I might I might. Let me start it over. Sorry. Okay. Omaha. Lamb me up. Um Indian Creek. River Wilds. And Matt's crush. Matt's baby girl. You guys all rated it five. So all right, we're not that far off. So calm the fuck down a little bit, okay? Jesus Christ. I'm sorry. I'm sorry it's your number one, dude. Sorry, it's your number one. Yep. When Matt does van life, we're gonna check uh find my iPhone. It's just gonna be at one. He's gonna be marshalling out. I'm the starter now. My van's parked on one. Yep. Hey, free golf. Fuck it. Best greens in the Midwest. It was a surprise, is all it was. It was better than expected for sure. It's it's not better than any of the courses we played, except Bentry, in my opinion. I didn't like Bentry, I didn't like it at all. I like I actually like Bentry pretty solid. That's that's just me. And I'm allowed to have my opinion. Yeah, absolutely. You don't like Wolf Creek, Mike. Beautiful golf courses, loves Wolf Creek. I mean, and that's the that's the beautiful thing about life. You know, we all have different opinions, we all see different things in different areas and the artistry and the architecture, or the greens, or whatever it is. That's the beautiful part about golf. We we can all disagree, and we can play golf together. Matt hates cabot cliffs, but every single person that plays golf loves. Yes, yes, that is the realest thing ever. There are others out there. There are others out there. No, I'm afraid not. There is. I've talked about is there a Reddit thread of cabot haters? No. I have had a handful of people, no lie, no lie. I've had a handful of people reach out to me after I made my post about that place saying that they agree a hundred percent. I'm like, please leave a comment. They're like, no way. I think I think it's also one of the things, right? It's like there's so many factors involved, too. Like, you took a journey that's a trip to get there, right? And and you're excited about it, and maybe you're overhyped on it, but you have to land somewhere, you gotta drive a bunch of hours, and you play the golf course, and then you get rained on, dumped on. Maybe you played bad. There's so many factors involved with so many things. Like maybe, maybe at uh River Wilds, I was tired and it was humid. And I'm like, oh, it's fucking humid. I don't want to play out here right now. I'd rather be watching uh TGIF, I'd rather be watching Step by Step or Full House. There's so many factors and so many things, you know what I mean? Like, uh everybody's different, and that's that's what makes all of us great. You know what I mean? Do it for the moments, enjoy who you're playing with, and uh you know, just just live it and enjoy enjoy what you're doing. I can agree with that. Absolutely. Like, I I like desert pines, you guys fucking hate it. You you can't wait for it to be demolished, you know. Trash. Trash, trash, wild horse is on that list too. Trash. Experience is the raking, rank, ranking. Yeah, wild horse is in a rough shape right now, but it's getting better, getting better. You got some water coming in now. So oh, dude, user dash seeing who's yeah, seeing how quick the tides turn, right? I I can tell you many reasons why and when oh shit, I fucking grocery shopping at terrible. Hey, no, I'll I'll I'll go down, I'll go down with the ship all day. Oh, that was good. You guys understand we're gonna lose desert pines, we're not gonna have more, we're not we're gonna lose the golf course. I'm more upset about Royal Lynx than Desert Pines. Yeah, definitely. We're losing them off the bat because you guys don't show love to these golf courses. Maybe the greens, the greens are too soft. $120 for local play there on a weekend. Fuck that. No, yeah, of course I'm not paying that, but yeah, you know. No, I've almost had holes in ones there. There's moments out there, there's a lot of memories that exist on the golf course. I wish you would have got to play Silverstone, Joe. I wish I played Silverstone. Yeah, that was a fun one. I'm not saying Mike, I'm not saying it's the best course, I'm just saying I like it. I like playing golf. All golf courses leaving suck. But that one I'm not shedding a tear about. Yeah, look at this fucking guy. He's on a golf podcast and he's not shedding a tear about losing a golf course. This guy. Not that one. I was kind of happy when Black Mountain closed too. Fuck that place, too. Well, they Black Mountain fucked up when they when they added the extra nine holes in the middle. They should have just they should have left that a nine-hole course and just rode the nostalgia until it ended. Trash. Yeah, they messed up when they built the second nine and then filled in the middle with another nine. Kind of ruined that place. Never got to play it. Never got to play it. You're not messing at anything. Nah, you're really not. I would have liked to play it because I like playing golf, which sounds like you guys don't like playing golf at courses that are so okay. Joe, I got a tea time at Arroyo. You want to go play some golf at Arroyo? Yeah, I'll play golf. Best routing in Vegas. Best routing worst. That's the worst routing in Vegas for sure, no doubt. But all the routing is better than Arroyo. First tease in the parking lot. Of the country club, of the private ones. Shut up, shut up. Maybe next year, Mike. Maybe next year. It all depends if uh Gamble Sands happens or not. Okay, user dash F B5UP6EQ5U knows what's up. Change your user create create a name, please. Yeah, he knows what's up. That was his comment about you. Of course, it's trash. Uh W. That's the second time he's put W. So it's like a Riddler guy. The whatnot guy. Yeah, that's probably fucking somebody. All right,

Who you be'd W. You know some Vegas golf? Brett. All right. Brett, go go check out our we do it every two years. So go check out our Vegas ranking episode. It was came out a couple years ago. Uh, we'll be doing it this fall. Um, but we do it every two years and we rank all the courses in Vegas that that we have played. If there's one on there, I think I think there's no courses that at least two of us haven't played. So all the courses in Vegas are ranked, and we have a point system that we use. We explain it all in the episode. It's on YouTube. You can watch it there, um, or you can listen to the episode. I have autism. I added prices for every course on your list. I did, I commented. Okay, sweet. Nice. I've watched that episode like four times. Well, thank you very much. All right, thanks, Brett. Yeah, get that username. Brett, the the hit man. Brett the hitman heart. Oh, somebody said there he is. Joel said the hitman heart. The wild horse heart still makes me mad. No, I can explain that. Go listen to it. I love wild horse. I think it's just it's bouncy, right? It's so Brett, what's your favorite course that you've played here in town so far? Wolf Creek hideously underrated. Hideously underrated. That's all Matt. That's all Matt. Hideously. Oh mountain. That's yep. Yep. Brett knows what's up. Shut up, Brett. That has correct answer. That coyote. Breaking hearts all over. Played Coyote Springs, Brad. The coyote, uh, coyote. Brett knows ball. He does BGC, Mike. He knows. Oh too funny. Uh, well, since the show I hate coyote springs, it's so hard. Not an uncommon thought. That's what makes it fun, though, Brett. Chill,
Outro & Final Thoughts on Golf Trips
dog. Uh, you don't have to play good all the time. Because of the game tonight, uh, not gonna do an after show uh because I've got a lot of shit to do tomorrow. Because I'm headed to New York for the weekend to go visit my daughter later. So I will be gone. So I've got to edit this, I gotta edit the audio, I gotta get it all ready to go and then get the hell out of Dodge. Um, this is almost a two-hour podcast. I know we haven't done this in a long time, but it's golf trip talk. So uh I will say this if you can find some three friends to go on a golf trip with, do it, book it, plan it, set it up, and go. Uh, it's something that you will create memories for a lifetime. Uh we've done we've done Bandon, we've done Tory, we've done uh Pays in Arizona, we've done Nebraska now, North Carolina, Georgia. I wasn't there. Jeremy and I weren't there. Jeremy soon to be Washington, the middle of nowhere. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And you're never you the thing is about golf trips is like you're planning your next one while you're on your current one. Yeah. It's it's a never-ending thing. Yep. Just we were get I was getting gamble sand emails while we were out there, and I'm like, oh shit. We need to get to it. For the mental health. Mental health. It's great for your mental health. Um, we we are forever bonded in memories and golf, and it's amazing. I highly recommend it for anybody. Grab three of your buddies, go on golf trips. They it's it's to me, it's so underrated the experience. Um I came home and started cleaning the laundry room and just like we gotta get rid of this shit. We gotta get this shit out of here.
