Intro & U.S. Open at Shinnecock
MattWhat is up, everybody? Welcome. Welcome to the Chasing Daylight Podcast. Special edition, special edition episode US Open style. It's another major, third major of the year. Major week is upon us. And uh, so we're gonna be talking about that. So if you're down to chat, US Open Golf, shiny cock up in uh Long Island, that's what we're gonna be talking about. For the majority of the show.
JoeShiny boys.
MattThat's some shiny boys. We'll be talking about some other things as well. Um, how you guys doing? I don't get to see you guys as much.
JoeWe just saw you Saturday. What are you talking about?
MattSaturday, but it was like, you know, I saw you every day for almost a week, and it's it's been a struggle. So that's how's everybody doing? Yeah, doing good.
JoeI miss I miss hearing the Empire Striking Back every morning, honestly. I can text you every morning if you want me to. Yep.
MattUh that is a great alarm. Great alarm.
JeremyIt's funny how the lows after a golf trip, though. Like, there are lows after that, like you're used to each other, and you're like you're just going by the flow.
MattAnd well, and then the conversations around the house are just not the same. They're they are as on a boy's golf trip, you know, guys golf, a lot less golf, yeah, a lot less golf, yeah, a lot more feelings involved, and I can't.
JoeGolf trip conversations are like, you know, they're just they're the best. I mean, it's like absolutely the best. If you died, what would your food be? You know, what would your be your death row meal? Things like that, or like you know, with Cliff, like uh going. That was a deep one. That was that was a deep one with Cliffy.
MattCliff laid us on the couch and said, We're talking. There it digs deep into your soul. But that's what we try to do here.
New YouTube Super Chats & Memberships
MattWe try to bring the golf trip talk to the podcast, and uh, we want you involved. So uh a couple of things. Uh, if you haven't been on in a while or you have been on, and you see it looks a little different, looks a little different here on YouTube. We did hit one of our milestones, and so we have unlocked some features. Some of those features include uh uh what's it called, Joe? The uh super chats, super chats, super chat. That's that is like a tip. That is like a tip jar to the CDP. Uh, if you're somebody that likes what we're doing and wants to throw a couple bucks our way, that's how you can do it. Support the show, super chats. There's a little on your screen. You see there's a little dollar sign on there.
JoeIf you want us to talk about something specific, you'll see we'll see it easier. Yeah, and then we'll talk about it. That's what super chats mainly for.
MattUm, and then there's uh oh, I didn't start it. Let me I start. Oh, the goal here. We have a goal tonight.
JoeUh one million subscribers.
MattOne million subscribers.
JoeWe're in 10 mil tonight, guys. Please smash the like button. Smash the like button. Bookmark all upcoming shows. I add it there, and I'll find it. Anyways.
MattUm, but if we if if we hit a certain number of uh of fundage sent our way, uh this will be included in the giveaway. And then I forgot, Joe. I I did these in this way.
JoeDid what? What did you do? Also, guys, there is a giveaway tonight. All you gotta do is leave a comment and be here when we pull it. If you did not know, now you know.
MattI got these CD t-shirts.
JoeOh, I have these t-shirts, and uh I got black and gray.
MattThey're only an extra large. So if you don't wear an extra large, you don't want it, tell us not to send it to you.
JoeYou just cut it into a crop top, take off the sleeves, make it a t-shirt.
MattThere you go.
JoePump the iron, pump, pump, pump iron.
MattBut you can do that on there, and then also we have membership now. Uh, we also have the CDP premium through our hosting provider, which is Buzz Sprout, but we're really trying to push YouTube. We think this is where this is gonna be the most interactive and most fun for everybody. Uh, so we have the memberships. Hey, look, see right there. Payment filled. There he is. I have to be a mod. This is bullshit.
JoeAnd he said, I have to pay to be a mod. This is are there mods? I don't even know if there are mods.
MattThere's not uh yeah, we can set that up, but Jeremy handles all that right now.
JoeTween, tween, hey Trace coming in.
MattThanks, Ray.
JeremyWhat up, T Dog? What up, T. I want to hear about the irons, Tracy.
MattGot some new, yeah. The what are we calling those irons for them? The fines. The fines, yeah. Yeah, the finds. Gotta bamboozled to be a mod. Um, but the membership, let me get to my point. I'm sorry. Brain brain freeze.
JoeGuys, you if you're in VGN, you know, you know, let them go real quick. It might take a couple minutes, but I'll get there eventually. We'll get there, yeah.
MattReel it back in. Uh, with the with the memberships, we're gonna start doing the CDP after shows live. So if you are a member, you can join just like a normal episode. So yes, yes, that's that is the the benefits of being the member. We'll be here live, and uh you can join. That's a members only per behind the paywall conversations we normally don't talk about pop up.
JoeYeah, yeah. I mean, those conversations sometimes get a little wild.
JeremyYou can watch the train come off the tracks in person.
JoeYeah, yeah, pick it up, pick it up, pick it up.
MattWe've got a small one last week. We weren't recording, but it dealt with uh walking in on a man blow drying his ass on a hand dryer in FAO 4 bathroom.
JoeYeah, that happened last week. Yeah, I told him to record, he did not.
MattI know it's
Garson Stars and Stripes Grip Giveaway
Mattjust it wasn't enough, it wasn't enough content. So give me 50. We can do 15 tonight. Joe's got it on his screen. You can see it right there. Let me blow him up so you can see what it is. That's the Garson Stars and Stripes major edition. This is the what is it, the fourth one that we've done, third one that we've done. Third major, so fourth one, because we did the players also. Uh, yep, that is this month's US Open Major Release Stars and Stripes. We're giving that away tonight. All you have to do, like Joe said, leave a comment. Leave a comment and just be around when the name is drawn at the end of the show, and that can be yours.
JoeYep, these came out today or yesterday. Yesterday. Uh, so also if you want to take a dabble and go to the Garson site and use code daylight 15, save yourself 15 on anything.
MattWhat the code does not work on that grant.
JoeYeah, this is a special item. There's only 250 of these. There's only 250 of these, but anything else you need from Garson, use code daylight 15 at checkout, save yourself 15. I mean, saving people money over here, too. I mean, I I mean, I yeah, it's amazing. What are we doing? What are we doing?
MattYeah, so uh do that, and it they did a hundred bucks, or they did a hundred quantity hundred of the other ones. This one they did 250 in honor of the 250 uh America birthday coming up here in a couple weeks. It's gonna be a crazy, crazy event, if but some of the stuff I've already seen. Uh, so we got that going on. Uh, we had a VGN event out at Boulder Creek this past weekend. Uh nice hot day out there at the creek. Yep. Horse is in fantastic shape. Very good time. 75 people out there playing. It was uh it was a good time. And other quick news, or just before I get to the top five stuff. Uh how about Yana?
Congrats to Yana Wilson & Bud Cauley
JeremyYeah. Yep. First of many. First one. Biggest bread, biggest bread.
MattIt's uh it's so cool seeing her achieve that, you know. You've got so much talent. As a as a girl dad, I was so like giddy for her dad. You were crying so hard. I was so giddy for him because oh, yeah, like this this crying fool down here at the bottom corner.
JoeYeah, you felt it in your knee, crying your uh good knee.
MattThe bad knees all uh wires and and metal now. It's got no feeling.
JoeAnd no, Yana has been on the podcast too, so you can archives and listen to that episode.
MattI'll I'll link that in the show notes there.
JoeYears and years ago, years ago.
MattIt was a while ago. She was still in high school uh when she was on with Ali Mulhal, who's another up-and-coming young, talented female golfer. Uh, but if if you've ever been out in Vegas and been on the range and seen Yana, not far from her will be her father. He is there with her all the time. Big grind. Um, he's an amazing individual. I love chatting golf with him. Uh, when when we see her, we see her a lot at Southern Highlands. And uh, so congrats to her. The hard work. Uh sky's the limit for that that kid, man. She has got so much talent. One of the best she's gonna be a problem. Swings, yeah. She's gonna be a problem. Exactly.
JoeNice play on this. On nice play on this, uh, Nori, Chef Nori. Robo-knee twitched. Is if you know, Yana has works at works a bit at RoboGolf. So that was perfect. Robo the Robo knee twitched. Perfect, yeah, perfect play on words. Well done, Nori.
MattUh so uh some of this top stories from the last couple days. Uh Bud Collie, congrats to Bud Collie on his first win. He's had kind of a roller coaster career, so it was nice for him to uh get the win up in Canada. Had the tear ducks like peeking, they were like right there. It's close, it was close. Um, Shinncock is preparing for the US Open. Uh, if you're watching Golf Channel live from U.S. Open, it's been on all week, it's amazing. Tina Kim and Yana Wilson won the Dow Championship. Uh Julie Inster made the cut at 66 years old. Wow. The oldest person ever to make and cut on the LPGA tour. She's a Hall of Famer, too. That's kind of cool. And Nellie is heading off to Hazeltine to seek her third straight major. Yeah, that's wow. Wow. Yeah. So uh US Open Week. Uh, there's a lot of lot of talk already going on about how this is not gonna be fair.
JoeThis flag,
U.S. Open Course Setup & Predictions
Joethough, that I got that is a good flag. That's a cool flag.
MattHave you played it? Have you played the course yet?
JoeI have not played it. That's why. What are you doing with that? It's not on the wall. It's not on the wall. It is on the list, but you know, the filing cabinet flag.
MattThat's a very cool flag. Uh, the lot of players are already not, I wouldn't say complaining, but already talking quite heavily about how the rough is just stupid.
JoeLet them complain. I love it. I love it. I love it.
MattI mean, this is everybody's been saying this is a second shot golf course. The first shots are important, but the second shots are even more important. And if you're out of position, you're fucked basically. And uh it's gonna be impossible for people to get to some of the pin placements if they don't hit the spots that they need to. So I mean, it's it's gonna be fine. That fescue is thick, is tall, but the the top of it, you know, when it's really tall, that's just real thin. It's down at the bottom where it's just thick and nasty. It looks all it looks all wiry and loose, but man, they dropped a ball in it, and you I mean, they couldn't find the ball. They dropped the ball and couldn't find it.
JoeLooking like a just a bunch of broccoli rob down there, and just fucking, you know, little sandwich down there.
MattIt is gonna be adventurous, gobble ghouls are what we got we got Scotty's going for his uh grand slam or his winning of all the majors, you know, the career, the career career grand slam, not the tiger slam, but the career grand slam, yeah. Career slam. Uh Scotty's going for that. Uh Adam Scott starting in his 100th consecutive major, which is stupid. And then today they were talking about you know what the record is for what most consecutive major. I don't know. No. Anybody guess? Guess? Give me a guess. Give me a guess.
Joe237.
MattJesus Christ.
Joe114.
Matt146. I guessed, bro. I jeez, I guess. 200, Joe. I mean, good lord.
DanLike 54 years of major.
JoeYou never know. You never know. You never know.
DanIt's gonna come, it's gonna be one year. 86 years old playing in his 254th major.
MattOld Tom Morris. Clark County math. It's okay. I get it. I get uh yeah, Jack.
JoeIt's pretty close, though.
MattIt's uh a hundred so Scotty or uh um Adam Scott would have to compete uh another 10 years and still not be where Jack was, and that'll put him at 55 because he's 45. And it's consecutive, consecutive, yeah. His last major never missing a field at a major.
JoeIs that what you're saying?
MattNever missing a field, it up, not making cuts, just playing every major.
JoeHe hasn't he hasn't missed playing a major yeah, in 20 years.
MattThat's wild.
JoeI mean, with a swing with a swing like that, man, it's pretty unique, low, you know what I mean?
MattLike but look at all the players that have missed that are you know athletes that I mean it's it happens, you know, you you lose it.
JoeI mean we get you get an injury, I mean, there's so many things.
MattYeah, it's it's crazy. So after him, it's uh I think Jordan Spieth at like 44, and uh oh, who is the other person? I can't remember, but yeah, so it's it's quite an accomplishment to be that good. I mean, he only has one exemption, and that's Augusta. So he has to play. Yeah, he has to qualify to get into these other ones. So you know, having your tour card helps and getting wins helps, but I mean, that's that's a feat, man. It's it's pretty freaking impressive.
JoeYeah, it is for sure. And just one of the one of the most beautiful swings there are. Yeah, there's I mean, maybe that says something. Maybe that says something about a swing, you know. It's simple, been pure.
MattIt's quiet in the chat tonight. What's going on?
DanIt literally hasn't changed for like 20 some odd years. I know it looks the exact same. Adam Scott's swing has not changed.
JeremyA lot of people's swings have changed over the years, but not this. Did you see that post they put together of all of his swings over the years? Till now. It's it's the same. Yep, he looks the same, he swings the same.
JoeAnd you asked a lot of people on tour their favorite swing, and a lot of them will say Adam Scott.
MattOh, yeah. That's it's real pretty, man. Chambly said tonight, he goes, Yeah, there's that fave that that famous quote, that famous saying, Would you rather look like Adam Scott or swing like Adam Scott? Either way, you're doing all right.
JoeYeah, either way, you're pretty solid.
MattUh yeah, he's a uh it's it's it's impressive to be able to keep your body that in shape and play this game. And you may a lot of people don't understand, you know. Yeah, golf is not it's not hockey, it's not football, you know, it's not wrestling, it's not boxing, it's not a crazy physically tasking sport, but there is a lot involved, and you know, those guys walk the golf course. If you make a cut, you're walking that golf course six, seven times, and uh that's a lot of walking. And you gotta hit a lot of balls, a lot of balls, a lot of balls. That's taxing. The mental side of it is incredibly taxing. Yeah, I hope they don't swing the same in five years as it.
JoeThere you go. There, there you go. There's room for improvement. You got it. Always room for improvement, always room, unless you're Adam Scott. There's not much else you can do, but yeah, you know.
MattAll right, so I I tried to get my trivia going, and Google Jim and I and I are not getting along today. Uh, but I do have I do have some questions. Uh oh, I pinned it. There it is.
JoeIs this any before we get started? Is this any of you guys' favorite major?
MattIt's slowly creeping up.
JoeI would say it's my favorite, yeah. Over Augusta. Yeah. Why is that? I'm curious.
JeremyI love the I mean, I wish there was some other courses in rotation, but these courses that they play are my favorite to watch. Yeah. Yeah. Do you think that's the same thing?
JoeGo ahead. You love what you know.
JeremyI love watching them. I don't want to say struggle, but I love battle factors like weather and how the grass linked and how fast the greens are and how that affects the scores of the end.
JoeI love you like this, you like to see them battle for the score. Oh, yeah.
DanHell yeah.
MattAbsolutely.
JoeSo the so the identity of the US Open is it's tough. It's hard. It's a hard golf. It's hard. It's a test. Yep.
MattIt's golf stuff as a challenge.
JoeAnd also the factor, Jeremy being a great player and Dan, they they have the opportunity to actually play their way into it, too.
MattThat is possible.
JoeYeah. All right. I'm just curious. Before we got into it, I was just curious. We talk about it often during the road. It's a very long road.
DanIt's a long road. Yeah. And then you and then as soon as you get to the end of that road, you got to climb a fucking mountain. So it is it's not it's not easy. The US Open is an ass kicker, all stages.
JoeYeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
JoeYou land on the areas of India, and then you gotta ride a bike through villages and climb mountains, and then you got and then you hit every day, you know.
DanEvery day, every day is the Iron Man contest, and then you got a kayak everst.
MattYeah, yeah. I gotta go beat who?
JoeWhat I think that's one of those storylines, too, though, is like that. And that might be a question. This is a great segue. Great segue. Maybe there's a question about an amateur ever winning. I don't know, but like I think that's one of those things that we all love to watch for, too. We love to see an amateur that did that long road and potentially win because it's a great storyline.
U.S. Open Golf Trivia
MattYeah, anytime the amateurs do well, there's always a great storyline. So yeah, 100%. First question: why was the inaugural US Open in 1895 delayed by a month?
JoeI feel like boats were involved. Was there boats involved?
MattThere were boats involved.
JoeThere were there were boats involved. All right, I'm good then. You guys gotta answer the rest.
MattYeah, boats were involved, Joe.
JoeSo somebody couldn't make it across the pond, is what I was thinking.
MattNo, it said to avoid a conflict with the America's Cup yacht races, believe it or not, the First US Open was actually considered a sideshow to the U.S. amateur championship at the time. Only 11 golfers played in the original tournament at Newport Country Club in Rhode Island. It was interfering with the yacht, the yacht club. Lovey, lovey.
JoeThat's a half point, half point.
MattUh this this is an easy one. Who's the only player in history to win the U.S. Open? The U.S. amateur and the U.S. junior amateur.
JoeBobby Jones.
unknownYeah.
DanThat would be Tiger Woods. No? There was no U.S. Junior and when Bobby Jones was back there. But Bobby Jones was the best amateur ever. Yeah.
JoeA lot of this all started with Bobby Jones, too. He was he was the OG Tiger. The OG.
MattAll right. What is the only golf course to host the U.S. Open across three different centuries?
JoeWhat was the only course to host the US Open across different centuries?
MattThree different centuries. The 1800s, the 1900s, and the 2000s.
JoeWas Brookline a US Open or when Matt Fitzpatrick won? That was a Pm. Gotta be East Coast. Okay. Oh, that's right. Yeah. That was a trick question. I just saw that. Which one?
MattIt hosted the tournament's second edition in 1896, multiple times in the 20th century, and multiple times in the 21st century. Where? Shinnak. Shinny. Oh that makes sense. Wow, is is is YouTube like severely delayed? Is that what's going on?
JoeNo, no. It was up there for a second. It was up there for a second. All right. I think I I think I passed my test, Austin. So yeah, I'm worried about you.
MattAll right. Question four. Who was the last player to win the US Open on their very first attempt?
JoeRatif Goosin?
MattNot a bad guess, John.
JoeThat is a good guess, Joe.
MattNot a good guess. Great guess. Great guess. It's uh Francis Wimet. The 20-year-old amateur stunned the professional goal. Brookline. Winning in 1913, an achievement that has been matched, hasn't been matched in well over a century.
JoeThat was at Brookline, right? I don't know. It doesn't say. Well, I know he I know he's tied to Brookline pretty famously.
MattThat name was mentioned a lot when the tournament was there.
JoeSo yeah. Yeah.
MattAll right. Uh last one, uh, Arnold Palmer is a golf legend, but he holds a rather heartbreaking U.S. Open record. What is it?
DanMost run-round finishes? Close. Most losses in playoffs.
MattYes. Yep. I guess yeah. Yeah. He is the only player in history to lose the U.S. Open three times in a playoff. He lost extra frames to Nicholas in 62, Julius Boros in 1963, and Billy Casper in 1966.
JeremyWas it? And did they play 18 for those as well? Or did they or the playoffs different? I wonder if they were different. Doesn't say.
MattIt does not. It doesn't go into much detail. Just give me the QA's.
JoeAs always, Marcus. Use code Daylight 15. We're giving in the if you guys did not know, we're going to give this away tonight. It's one of 250 for the U.S. Open. It's called the Stars and Stripes Garson Quad Tour Grip. All you gotta do is leave a comment. Be here when we pull it. And uh if you want to get something on the site, use code Daylight 15 and check out. Save yourself some money. Dick Sanchez in the house.
MattSanchise.
JoeSanchise. We got the Canadian milk farmer in the house. Shout out, Joel. That's the homie.
MattOh goodness. Definitely up there. Um, I don't know what else you guys want to talk about. U.S. Open. I I was really hoping we'd have a little bit more interaction with the with the fan base, but uh the slow nine on the chat.
JeremyWho's your picks? Go ahead, Jay. I'm sorry. Go ahead, Jay. No, I was just gonna say I've watched the Brian Bros major thing with Grant, and I've watched Peter Finch's breaks bar. That the course looks very tame when they were playing it. Like the grass hadn't grown yet. How long ago was it? I thought it was last week's, which I was surprised because the rough looked different today when I was watching the coverage. But dude, either way, if the wind is blowing, if the wind is blowing, that place is insane.
JoeYeah.
JeremyLike keeping balls on the green, keeping balls online.
MattSomebody said if the wind is how it is today, number 11 is unplayable.
JeremyYeah. Wow, it's unplayable. And if there's no wind, they're gonna someone's gonna shoot double figures under it. Because they can the wind really changes that golf course because it's fully exposed, there's not a lot of trees, it's just sitting on top of an whipping whips around those greens and comes up from the back down to the front and pull pulls the balls down the front of the green. I mean, it's that you have little areas where you can hit it, even chipping and pitching into the greens, you have to be so precise. Yeah, because you'll lose a ball easily. If it goes a foot too far, you're 30 yards off the green. Yeah, which I love to watch. Yeah, it's extremely sick.
MattYou have to be super precise.
JoeI I think it's gonna be somewhat similar to uh Pinehurst US Open when Bryson won. I mean, the greens, like the Donny Ross Greens aren't as severe as the Flynn Greens, but uh there's opportunities out there where they're gonna they're gonna fall off and they're gonna lose balls. And uh I watched the the the Chaz uh and uh Bev Boys uh video a couple weeks ago, whenever that was. And yeah, I mean you're you're out there seeing them watering it. The I think the great thing about what's happening right now at Shinnnecock is I think that the course is so good that they're gonna be able to make it exactly how they want it to play with watering with the wind. They're gonna be able to. I mean, it was already getting away from them from what I saw, and they're out there watering. So, like, yeah, I love to see these guys struggle, and I I think Shinnnecock is a great canvas for an amazing US Open that is probably gonna happen this this weekend.
MattSo such an amazing goal.
Jeremy2018, they it was similar conditions, I think. It was pretty windy. The greens were they like let the greens go to a point where they were having to water between groups because it was so unfair. And that's when they didn't control it. That's when Phil did his thing, yeah. I mean, I loved it's great, but man, they were close to losing a couple of the greens, I remember.
DanIt was the same when um uh back in the day with Retif. When was that, 2004 or something like that? Yep. Yeah, they lost those greens that week too. I I think it's just it's just like Joe said, the course is it's wide open, it's exposed. So if they get just too much wind or just a week's worth of wind and they don't, you know, have enough moisture on the screens, they're gonna lose them real quick. Yeah, yeah, which would be awesome. Which yeah, which would be fantastic. I love seeing those guys putting on like 16s and stuff. That'd be sick. Oh, yeah.
MattIt's you know, you get so used to manicured fairways, step cut, rough, soft greens that are fast and receptive, and now it's gonna be, you know, you you're hitting out of some nasty fescue to a green that's not gonna hold the ball, and it's gonna end up you don't know where. You know, that's that's exciting.
JeremyFairways are massive there. I mean, most of the fairways are pretty big, forgiving, except there's some the landing areas super tight, and this some of the fairways are so sloped you have to hit it on the left side of the fairway, or else you're gonna you know roll completely off the right side of the fairway. You have to like plan your shot shapes in every every shot you take there has to be planned. How is this gonna react when it hits the fairway? How is it gonna react when it hits the green? And I think that's why this course is one of my favorites to watch. It's just seeing how those guys think and then watching them hit every shot is just crazy seeing what goes through their head. This is the one of the tournaments that I wish we had more coverage of like caddy conversations with their players. Yeah, that type of stuff would be so fun to watch. I would subscribe to something like that.
MattTomorrow it should just be you know, you could have eight boxes on your screen and pick the group, and then the player and the caddies mic'd up. That would be oh my god, yeah, totally 1995. Yes, I'd buy that for sure. Uh so the forecast, it's got uh 71 on Thursday with thunderstorms, 55% chance of rain, 65% at night. Uh, then the rain tapers away, uh, 77, 77, 79 with 13.8 and 7% chance. So uh wind like the thing. Thursday, it shows 25 mile an hour max gus. Friday, it shows 36 mile an hour max gus. Oh Saturday, 40 mile an hour max gus with 20 mile an hour winds, and Sunday 31 guss, 15 mile an hour wind. Oh, my goodness, damn. Love it. This is gonna be worn out. Imagine walking in that. Friday and Saturday, they're gonna get their nuts kicked. I mean, I we might we're probably gonna see a plus score. Yeah. Someone may creepy even on Sunday morning.
DanSo, who y'all got?
MattI gotta look at the odds. Well, I've got the odds right here, Joe. I'll run it down real quick.
Looking at the U.S. Open Betting Odds
JoeYou do? Oh, shout out William Hill, guys. Go use code Chasing Daylight Podcast 25. $25 at William Hill. Get denied. It's a joke. It's a joke.
MattUh Scotty is the favorite, believe it or not. Uh, plus 455. And then we got Rory at plus 940, John Rom at plus 1175, then we got Xander, Cam Young at plus 1800, Maddie Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood at plus 2,000, Ludwig and Bryson at plus 2200, Kepka at plus three, and Colin Marikawa at plus 3,900. So Scotty, clearly the odds on favorite. Which is interesting to grab his uh grand slam of golf. Yeah, man.
JeremyI'm I'm going, I think I know my picks. Oh, yeah. I think I'm going Jordan for creativity and short game, and I just love him. Of course.
JoeYeah, of course.
MattHey, did I hear that right? Did Jeremy pick Jordan Speath? Yeah, that's a default pick.
JoeYeah, we could we could have guessed that.
JeremyWe just need I need to record that and then just play it back. True. I only I really only get two picks because Jordan's already automatic. I'm gonna go call him Orakawa or precision with his irons. Hopefully he does. Putting could be the question. And then let's go, let's go Brooks Kepka. Hopefully his healthy.
JoeI was thinking that too. I was kind of thinking that too.
JeremyDan?
DanUm, well, I'm gonna I'm still on the Cam Young train, so I'm gonna roll with Cam Young. Um neighborhood. Cam Young. Um, I'll take uh give me uh, you know what, he's been playing well. Give me Wyndham Clark this week, too. I'll take Wyndham. Two-time US winner.
MattI like Wyndham. He he got back at my good graces by wearing that that uh Hughes jersey. The hockey, yeah, the hockey jersey.
JoeNot a huge fan of him, but yes, that was definitely pretty likable.
MattYeah, not a big fan of him at all, but uh yeah, I agree. That that was an epic moment.
DanAnd then my third guy, give me uh I'll take uh see how this I gotta get my pull picks done.
JoeGive me God her up. Got her up, yeah. I know Nori likes that one.
MattYep. Got her up.
JoeAll right, Joe. Uh, I'm gonna go with Joel on this one right here. I'm gonna go Tommy Fleetwood. Fleets. He probably won't win, but hey, love that dude. Um, hi his pants will be flapping in the wind, though. That's guaranteed. Yeah, oh yeah, they're gonna be they're gonna be flags, just flagging everything. That's that's a sign. He's gonna flag everything because his pants are gonna be like this. Gonna keep them balanced. Let's see. Um you pick Coleman. Oh, Jeremy. Let's go Justin Rose, also. We'll go Justin Rose.
DanRose Dog, I like that.
JoeWith the McLaren. Um yeah, with the McLaren's. He's gonna be in the McLaren's. Um, and then let's go. Who I'm in between. I'm I'm in between currently. I'm in between Shane Lowry and Min Wooley. Shane Lowry is a grinder. Min Woo Lee can keep it under the under the wind. That would be massive win. Probably won't happen. Uh Shane Lowry only has the open, but you know he can play. Uh let's go. Take them both. Hey, Eric's gonna pick for me right now.
DanTake them both. Let's add a European player.
JoeGuys, let me know. Shane Lowry or Min Mooli for my third player. Let me know in the chat. You guys can say yeah, they're they're torched. Oh who you got, Matty?
MattLet me know. Who do I have? I don't know. I haven't even thought about it. Haven't even thought about it. Oh, Lowry says Kyle. Let's keep going. A couple more. So looking over the odds, I I am going to be rooting for Scotty Scheffler just because I want to see two people concluding career slam. Um, so I I'll I'll take Scotty um a little chalk pick there. Um I I like Maddie Fitz.
DanThat's yeah, I like his game lately.
MattYeah, a fellow Maddie. Take a fellow fellow Maddie. And there's a long let's see, I gotta I was just looking at the field. I was trying to see.
JoeI think my third is Lowry, the the chat spoke.
MattSo the chat spoke?
JoeAll right, yeah, Kyle and Joel.
MattI want to look down at the uh the bottom of the odds board and see a plus number that like stands out. That is Lee Trevino on there. Uh Lee Trevino, that's how 40 years ago. Ooh, Lee Trevino is my third. You know who has a long or has a great low punishing golf ball? Gary Woodland.
JoeYeah, true. That would be a good one. He's won the US Open before, too.
MattAnd he's won the U.S. Open before. So all right, so there's there's Scheffler, Fitzpatrick, and Woodland. That would be an amazing story. Oh, Harry is in the field. Harry is in the field. He is currently plus 1750 and dropping, according to whoever does the odds for the tour.
JoeDropping. Gary Woodland's 100 to 1. I could see it happening, honestly.
MattI mean, he could use that stinger all day in that yes, 30 mile an hour gust.
JoeYeah. Would be interesting. Wakanda Mon is it back in a major. Yeah, back. He should have been, he should have been in the masters. He should be a pick, dude. Yeah, Condamon.
MattI actually had a liquid death the other day that I did not like. Dude, dude, Alex Fitzpatrick is in there too. This is the pina colada, but I it's good. It's one of my favorites. But the strawberry one wasn't that good. I saw that today at the store. The strawberry killer or whatever it's called. Wasn't that good. Okay.
DanI'm not a huge fan of the flavored water.
MattYeah. I'm all about the cheese. Tom Kim.
JoeTom Kim 201. Tom Kim.
MattTK. TK. Oh, what are we at? Eight minutes? How many people we got in the giveaway? 14 entries in the giveaway.
JoeGuys, there's you got a one currently a one in 14 shot at winning the Stars and Stripes Gars and Grip. These are one of 250. All you gotta do is leave a comment, share the show. Make sure you smash it, smash the like button, smash it, smash, smash it. We're gonna give this puppy away. It's the US Open Week.
JeremyTK Cam, not Tom Kim.
DanOh, he's plus 50,000, bro. I didn't see it. All the way to the bottom. They stop at plus five thousand. Oh, there he is. Yeah. Tick Sue Kim.
JoeOh 5, 750 to 1. Joel saying JJ. I don't see JJ spawn going back to back. I don't think it's gonna happen. But you never know. It changed his last. I mean, I don't think he's long enough. Yeah, in the wind, but I mean, dude, the dude's a player. The dude is a player.
MattThis is a 7,400 yard par 70 course.
JoeYeah.
MattYeah on Long Island.
JoeOn Long Island.
MattYeah, sea level in the wind. Shout out, Aaron Rye.
JoeYeah, dude. Double glovin'. All right, iron covers.
DanMcGlovin.
JoeDouble glovin' McLovin. Double gloving McLovin. No, I think Shiny's gonna be awesome. I mean, dude, Long Island Golf itself is just so many bangers.
JeremyEspecially right there.
MattSo many is plus 100,000 on the odds of KGA tour. Go put five dollars on him, Eric. Zach Blair is also plus one hundred thousand.
JoeOh, Blair's in the field. Why didn't you pick him, Jeremy? Eric says Rory hit knockdown six iron today from 155. That's pretty wild. I got that in my bag. I do, I can I can hit a knockdown 155 for sure.
MattThe six iron, yeah.
JoeYeah, for sure. All day.
MattIf I was where he was and I did that, it wouldn't have gone 155 yards.
JoeYeah, maybe from the up box.
DanJeremy, are we in the same shirt right now? Are you in your public? Oh hello friends. Hello friends.
JoeAll right. Hello, friends to the heartbeat.
MattJeremy is sponsored by Vineyard Vine. Jerry is sponsored.
DanJeremy must have got a ten thousand dollar gift card there. Yeah.
MattI was I was looking for him in the pudding green Saturday, and I'm like scanning, scanning. I'm like, I don't fucking see Jeremy anywhere. And I'm like, God damn it, him and Trey losing this weight, they're just blending in now. You know, it's like, damn it. So I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm like, is that that is a pink fucking shirt? Oh my god, that was vibrant pink. I'm like much respected at Vineyard Vines. Like, look at this.
JeremyMe and Jim, man. Utah used to be a newscaster in Utah back in the 80s, I think.
MattOh, yeah. Oh, you got that you got that Utah discount code. Utah connection.
JoeSo you grew up watching dance?
JeremyI don't remember him, honestly. I just found that out like two years ago. Colin Coward used to do the sports on NBC here.
JoeI remember Ricky Cheese and Gary Waddell, you know. I was down there. Ricky Cheese. That was seriously the new you now. I know you know Ricky Cheese.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, absolutely.
JoeAnd Gary Waddell, dude, those were the boys, those were the homies on Eric Randall with the pointer.
MattYeah. On his finger. That's that's the homie, too. He was I saw him so many times hammered.
JoeRicky Cheese was a great name for Ricky Cheese.
DanThere used to be this girl in on Cal on KCal9 way back in the day in the 90s. I think her name was Brie Walker. She used to, she never had fingers, so she always used to like hide her hands on the desk. And it was yeah, it was a little different. But shut up, shut up, Bree Walker, wherever you are. Yeah, use code SisterWives at Vineyardvines.com.
JoeIs that a real code? Oh sister Wives. Is that a real code? Thank you, Payment. Hey, you never know. You never know. Oh, payment said that. Yeah. Uh we rolls deep.
Surviving the Bandon Dunes Solstice
MattThe north. All right, Joe. Do you remember how much we paid for the solstice when we went?
JoeI think it was $12.50.
MattYeah, that's what I thought. That's what I thought. Yeah.
JoeIt was $12.50. The solstice happened today at Banner Dunes, if you know. Um, we did it in 2020. 22. That's that's the science says. Yeah. It's a par 286, 24,928 yard battle in one day, four courses. I I I maybe it was fifteen hundred.
MattI can't remember, but I I don't I think it went a little bit. I don't think it was more than it.
JoeIt wasn't more than fifteen hundred because I think when we were trying to go back, it was like 1750, and we were like, Yeah, they it went up like 500 bucks.
MattI thought when we yeah, you think you'll ever do it again? I would love to do it again. I just don't want to pay that price.
JeremyI mean, if you plan ahead, maybe we think about it.
JoeI would do I would do it with you guys, yeah.
MattYeah, absolutely. It's so much fun.
DanLet's go do the San Valley one.
JoeYeah, yeah, the San Valley one too. Yeah, I would for I mean it's it's nothing I want to do again. I'm glad I did it. I think it's a bucket list, you know, event that everybody should try and do if they have the opportunity to do it. I agree with that. Um and you know, I'm I'm happy that I got to check it off. Matt's check it done it twice. Three times, uh three times, sorry, professional. Um, but I think if if if you're a lover, if you're a lover of bandin, and you know, like I think you should try and do it, of course, 100%. Like it's at the OG rotation today.
DanSo that's a lottery again, right? Same thing, you just put you enter and they draw your name.
MattIt's it's just when it opens up, you got to be online, and it's not a lottery anymore.
JoeIt's also one of those things in there too, huh? Yeah, when you get one of those questions like, What's the what's the funniest or craziest thing you've done in your life? What's something that you know, like you know, you get those stupid, like little you're at work and you're like, Hey, we're powwowing today, we're in a training. What tell me something is interesting about you? You know, it's one of those things, you know, and it's like not many people can say they've done it. So I I think everybody's a community to do it, yeah.
JeremyI have one, a story like that, like what Joe's talking about.
JoeMy other one is uh I was on Who Wants to be a Millionaire with my wife, but those are my two that I use, those are two pretty good ones, right?
MattJoe loves him some Phil Collins. I'm gonna need to think about that for a minute. Dan, do you have one? Um I'm trying to keep it in the golf space. So maybe just when I go ahead, Jay.
DanOh, go ahead, go ahead. I was just gonna say probably nothing really significant as that, as Joe's like saying, you know, I played in the solstice, but you know, a lot of people they see me play golf, and then I tell them that I went pro and actually did it for a living for three years. You know, it's something I can kind of say that a lot of people can't, but yeah, nothing like nothing crazy, like you know, like a stuff.
JoeAlso, you mean an ace on number seven and on sheep ranch at Bandon on a on a golf trip.
DanYeah, yeah.
MattOne of mine is uh the solstice, of course, but also uh playing golf in Death Valley in 130 degree heat and not 72 holes doing that.
DanDamn Nori, that's pretty fucking dope, dude. That is cool.
JoeAt the same time, at the same time, or over a span, just kind of casually drop that bomb in there.
DanThe span of two centuries. I cook the champion's dinner at Augusta National.
JoeYeah, that would be a good one, right? That'd be sick. I think that's one of those things about the Soul. It's cool, like you know, like hey, what's the most amount of holes you've played in a day? 85, dog. 85, walked, no cart, you know. Like, I think that's I think it's pretty cool.
JeremyTime did you guys finish, and then you played preserve, right?
MattYeah, we got done in preserve.
JoeAnd I that was on me though. Yeah, I don't think Matt ever would have done it.
MattI I was not gonna do it at all, and Joe talked me into it, and I'm so grateful he did because that that was as much fun as doing the solstice.
JoeThat was one of the funnest rounds, like just that was barefoot golf, right? That was barefoot.
MattYeah, barefoot three clubs with Scotty D. Just yeah, yeah, it was an absolute blast.
JoeYeah. The next day, the Achilles heel is fucking just straight steel. Could not make it.
JeremyDid you guys go? Is that when you played in Eugene on the way down? Yeah, that's when you're Diamond Woods.
JoeShout out Diamond Woods.
MattAnd then you flew out the next day, right? Yeah, after. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's when Joe was crying in the Seattle Salt Lake Airport.
JoeAbsolutely. Fucking I'll wear that on my sleeve all day. Wear the heart on the sleeve, crying, drinking, uh, drinking uh what what's the uh the beer squatters? Squatters, maybe it was, I don't know, but yeah, in the shitty ass Salt Lake City Airport, worst airport 7.43 p.m. Probably better than Atlanta, but yeah, I was crying.
MattNot proud of it, man, you know. Yeah, we took we took our photo at 7.43 p.m. and we teed off at 6 30. Got your hundred bucks, got our hundred bucks.
JoeYeah, it's a it's an awesome experience, and plus the gift bag, you know, like yeah, like this sign, this sign that was in our gift bag. Well, that's never going anywhere. And then the the head cover, like I don't it stays up there. Yeah, scared to lose it, you know.
MattYeah, I don't want to put it on the bag because it's I mean, I see people's like my band and stuff, it's all faded, you can't even see the logo anymore. Yeah. On the top, on the on the cap. So I that's staying inside.
JoeYeah, I was I was looking at my trails uh fairway cover, and it's just it's like limp. It's been around for a long time.
MattIt's like beast up, but yeah. Just like a shameless head cover. And Andrew Drury, who played with me at Boulder Creek, new member this year, uh, he had a band uh cover, and I I recognize it because it was all faded like mine. I'm like, oh, abandoned cover.
JoeYeah, in my group, uh who was it? I can't I can't remember the names. We played with Greg. His name is Mike, Michael, I can't remember. Lawyer Michael. But I started like we were on the first team, and I we started talking about me and uh Joey. Uh, if you need if you need AstroTurf done, hit up Joey Retty. Um, but um I just started talking about Bandon or something, and then he had been there with his brother, and like that's one of the cool things about getting out there and traveling and seeing golf and creating connections with other people that have been in the same locations you've been.
MattLike, yep.
JoeJust random people like that you see. Oh, Bandon. Oh no, he had a preserved ball marker, he was using a preserved ball marker. Ah, there you go. Yeah, all right.
MattSo here's the uh the winners from this past weekend. Uh Dan Foster, Mr. Clutch.
VGN Tournament Results & Trophies
MattShout out, Dan.
JeremyHe's a player first win and a major.
MattYep, first win and a major. Uh, and then the joker winner from the spades division was Ray Aretti. So congrats to Ray. He like lit the field up. He had a great day. Yeah, I saw that. Uh, let's see. Next in the Hearts division, Mike Tice returned to the winner's circle. Congrats, Mike, for that.
JoeLook at this guy. And he's I saw I I need to talk to Mike about this because he has a sandbox hat on, which is Sand Valley. I know he's from the area or the part three course, right? I know he's he's up there.
JeremyI know he's been secretly going on golf trips. Yeah, he may have been. I don't know.
MattAnd then we had in the clubs, let's see, where is it at? James Freeman. So congrats, first win, first year for James, first win. James, right on, James. Hey, and shout out to those trophies. Those trophies were sick. That was Scratch Sign Company, and Ken uh is does amazing work. The trophies for Coyote Springs are gonna be a little different than this, but along the same lines. He's working on something, and then we have a concept for the player of the year trophies that I think is gonna be stunning.
JeremyIs he the guy from New York? Yes.
MattOkay, he's lives real close to Wingfoot. So I'm gonna try and poke and prod him to come out and play with me when I go back in August. But uh, he's he's a teacher. Him and his wife are teachers, so much respect to him because that is a job that nobody likes, but everyone needs teachers, man. Support your teachers if you can.
SPEAKER_04Yep.
MattUh, but yeah, so um that'll be I'll show you guys uh when I see you um this weekend, but we're working on because it's 36. So and then we can get into this if you want. Uh I made an
The End of Vegas Golf Network & Future Events
Mattannouncement after the golf tournament that uh this is going to be the last year of the Vegas Golf Network. Uh the time has come, the course has been run, and it's sad to let it go, but you know, I just I just don't have the time I want to dedicate to it in order to make it better. Um, it's kind of our membership has kind of been stagnant the last couple seasons, where we had you know four years of really amazing growth, and then it's just kind of flattened off. And uh I don't know, I just that and along with the the golf courses, just not wanting to deal with us whatsoever. It's damn near impossible to get a good rate anywhere nowadays, and uh I'm just tired of dealing with all the stress. I'm really tired of dealing with stress.
JoeSo in the in the I I figured that's what you were gonna talk about. So Joey knew earlier because I told him I think that's what's gonna happen, and we were talking. Um like obviously you can't do it to the the spectacle that it is, the great job that you've done with the golf genius and everything, but like we were talking. Wouldn't it be interesting to do just like four like we used to do when it where it all started, you know, four events every year, you know, somebody take the lead. It doesn't have to be you, and if it doesn't happen, then it doesn't happen. You take the lead for one, maybe maybe I take the lead for one, which probably ain't gonna happen, but and Jeremy or Dan or whatever, and and we just take the lead for one, or we do one a year, you just do one a year, and it's called the which huge shouting out Chasing Daylight.
DanYou gotta bring that back, bro.
JoeNot huge, huge missh not shouting out Chase Daylight podcast. Thank you, Kyle Shane, for tuning in every week. We appreciate you. Um, but you know, we is we have a network of people where we can do something cool every year, and I I would like once a year, you know what I mean.
MattLike, I I think we have a great opportunity now with how the show is growing to bring a chasing daylight event to the works, you know. I I know what's going on, I I you know I've I've got my feet in this, I know how to do it, and I think even with the past experience that we had with Legends, because Legends was a hit, it would it went off so good. And I think now that with the experience of running the league and knowing what I know now and what we know now, uh, we could seriously put together a great chasing daylight event. Um, and it doesn't have to be in Vegas, we could do it anywhere. You know, we don't have to limit ourselves to Vegas, we can set this up anywhere. So I think that's that's an idea that I like. Um, I I don't get me wrong, I love doing the VGN stuff. I do. It's it's a lot of fun, it's a challenge. I like the challenge, it's in the golf space. That's another reason that I like it. Um, I get to meet so many incredible people and and play golf with just amazing individuals, and uh it it sucks that it's not gonna be there, but you know, there's other things out there. The I looked at the field for the Grint event, and there's like eight guys from the VGN playing in the Grint event Saturday. So guys are already looking out for other options. Congrats to them. Um yeah, there's plenty of options out there, so we'll see. But I'm I'm I'm actually Erica said to me, She goes, How you feeling? I'm like, uh actually pretty good, you know. It's I'm feeling pretty good.
JoeIt's it's a lot of work.
MattI mean, yeah, it's a lot to deal with, man.
JoeYeah, it's a lot.
MattWell, I know I normally this time of year start booking courses for next year. That this is when I start at the halfway point, and uh knowing I don't have to do that now. Woohoo!
DanNow you can start working on booking tea times for yourself next year.
MattYes, exactly.
JoeI don't I don't think it's I I mean, tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's the booking the tea times or setting the things up, it's it's hunting people down and stressing about like are you playing or what?
MattIt's a combination of everything, yeah. You know, if I and there's some people that uh I I've told if I had 105 guys like you, fucking A we would kill it, run it, you know. Yeah, but I got five guys like you, you know, and it's just you know, I and it there's only so much that I can say and not be a dick, you know. I and I try, and you know, that's one of the rules, you can't be a dick. I got reprimanded by a few people last year saying that my emails are too vulgar, I'm too offensive, and I'm too demanding. And I was like, wow, okay, I just I'm real. I say, you know, so yeah, all it's all on the eye of the beholder.
JoeI know Las Vegas up in here.
MattIt's a lot of work. I've been doing this for almost 20 years. Is that Paul? Is that you, right? Yeah, uh, yeah, it is a lot of work.
JeremyIt is a lot of work, and uh, I'm gonna be sending a lot of guys your way, so um, but it's it's didn't grint go away for a bit, or was it certain division, or now it's back, or like I don't know. Yeah, it was here run by somebody else. Oh, gotcha. It's so trade played in a few like four years ago or something, and then it kind of yeah, yep.
MattSteven Jackson was actually helping run it, so oh good, okay.
JoeUh I think it's I mean, it's it's so cool to I mean, like it the lore. You guys know I love lore, I love legends, I love the legend of everything, and like it started literally as a couple dudes on Instagram. Hey, where are we playing this weekend? Everybody throws in 20 bucks, who's down, and then it turned into a year-long points race. And uh, that's what's cool about it.
MattI mean, yeah, I think we had 12 guys in the first event we ever did, maybe at national. Yeah, yeah, maybe 12. Yeah, maybe maybe 10, somewhere around. No, that was 2019. Oh we started in August of 2019.
JoeWe did August, September, October, November event, and then uh Yeah, I forget the dude's name, but he was like, Hey, I I know somebody over at National, I can book a bunch of times. Why don't we all throw in 20 bucks and we can just play and whoever wins wins. Yep. Yeah, a long time ago.
MattThe guy running it was a bust, yeah. Yeah, super cool. Uh, tell Steven he's obligated to not help you until we're done doctor now this game.
JoeAnd and tell Steven that he has to talk about Chase Dana podcast every time he speaks.
MattYep. Because apparently I fucked up my my speech. I messed up my speech by not talking about the podcast.
JoeI mean, I I didn't say you messed it up, I just said it would have been a great to do it.
MattYou came up to me, you're like, I got I got this guy coming up going, hey Matt, thank you so much. I got Fe and Janet practically bringing me and Jeremy to tears. Joe comes up and he's like, dude, you fucked up by not talking about it.
JoeI wasn't I didn't come up to you, I was across the table. He was across the table.
JeremyThe podcast, the podcast.
JoeI was just I was just saying it would have been great time.
JeremyTalk about the podcast.
JoeHey, Kyle Kyle's in the chat tonight. He said, Kyle said uh he's looking forward to look. Here we go. Kyle is in VGN. We're gonna go looking forward to whatever you guys plan. Kyle's planning commitment Saturday. Yeah, we're gonna do something at some point.
MattSome point, we'll do something, absolutely.
JoeI gotta and you can listen to the Chase Dana podcast, and this is what we're gonna hear first.
MattYou got it, Paul. I will help you out, no problem. Yeah, hey, Paul, tell all your players about it. You'll be on Joe's good side if you do. There you go.
JoeYeah, no playing a great event. Oh I sell stuff at whatnot for less than I bought it for to promote the podcast. So thank you for less than what I bought it for.
MattOh no, man. Chime in for all golf love from us here, man. Absolutely. Chime in.
JoeUm, but uh yeah, golf's the best game, it connects people. We've met so many people like through VGN, wherever you play, like, dude, golf's the best sport there is, no question. So it's all the homies.
MattIt's all the homies. What else we got over here? Teresa. Let's see how many people we got in the giveaway. 16 entries in the giveaway. Come on, and there's 12, and there's 12 people here.
JeremyPeople are on summer vacation.
MattWhat do you give the crap?
JoeYeah, well, we're about to walk away with an absolute sick joint right here. Shout out, Garson.
MattAll right, let's bring it up. Let's bring it up here.
JoeOh, there's 13 live. We're gonna give this away, guys. If you have not left a comment, now's the time. You gotta be present to win. One of 250 Garson. Uh make sure you use code Daylight15 at check out on Garsengolf.com. They are the homies, best proto grips on the market. They have supported us, so we support them. That's how it works. Get rid of some of these things here. Garson Boys, dude, payment's got a full-on museum of Garson Grips. And Teresa does have a museum too.
Garsen Grip Winner Reveal
MattAll right, there we go. All right, drawing the name.
JoeOh. Joel, where are you at? Oh, Joel Canadian milk farmers. Boyd, you're so late. Just barely too late, boyd. Yeah, Joel B here. I want to send it to you because he's Canadian.
SPEAKER_04Oh, is he really?
JoeYes. Uh lower 48 only, sorry.
MattJoel, I don't know. Hey, you may get in now since uh Joel's not here.
unknownYeah.
JoeCome on, Joel. Where are you at? I'm not gonna text him. It's unfair. He's Canadian though. Uh and Joel's a great dude.
Matt7654321. All right, let's draw again.
JoeThat was a quick five seconds. If you get if you guys didn't know, that's Canadian Club Flipper, for those that know.
DanI'll never forget what you said at the uh at the uh what knoff tournament Joe when uh Canadian Club Flipper or uh Davey does it had texted you about seeing Canadian club flippers junk.
JoeOh that was oh my god.
MattOh wait, it double rigged Joel. Are you still or Paul? Are you still here? You gotta be, you gotta you gotta comment. You gotta comment. You were here. Are you still here? There you go. There we go. I'd say draw again, but I didn't see my name. No, you you won. So we'll do it. You're good. You won. We'll give it to you. I know there's a little delay, so a little bit of a delay. Yeah, he's he's got it.
JoeAlso, guys, for if if you guys want to be a premium subscriber, how do you do it, Matt? On here or on to be able to watch the after show because if you guys are not familiar, we do an after show afterwards where it's kind of just a round table. We talk about whatever movies we're watching, whatever music we're lit with golf courses we played, we just bullshit. If you guys want to be able to watch that live, we're trying it out for the first time where the subscribers can watch it live tonight. Typically, it would come out afterwards and you'd have access to watch it. So if you guys want to be able to tune in live. For the after show, how do you get involved, Matt?
MattSo if you go to I have to, you know what? I'd have to look from not our channel because I think I can't see it from our channel. Joe, go you go to your YouTube channel on your phone and then go to the podcast channel and see. There's a membership tab. And if you join, it says join, right?
JoeThis one, yes. The join with the star.
MattYep, join with the star. That's that's how you join. That's how you become a member. Um, I think it's it's either $199 or $2.99 a month, and that will uh get you into the live shows, which we're gonna have one tonight, the after show, the CDP after show. And that's for those of you who don't know the after shows, it's just us shooting the shit, talking. Yeah, uh, doesn't necessarily have to be about golf. Sometimes we talk about other things.
JoeThat's where you hear about guys blow drying their ass in uh or yeah, or uh I mean yellow death on on toilets. Uh we don't talk, yeah, but you could potentially, it might come up. You never know. Yeah, there's a chance.
MattThere is a chance.
JoeSo if you want the unedited, unscripted uh version of us just being homies and talking, you can get involved there too. If you become a subscriber and join, you'll be able to watch it live and interact with us.
MattHey, Paul, we're gonna give it to you, and then you can do whatever you want with it. I know there's a certain individual named Steven Jackson who was trying to buy one. Yep. So he may be interested in it. So yeah. Coming your way. I will get that to you. So all right, let me fill that. Yeah, so if if you want to join us afterwards, I think we got like 10 people right now that have signed up um that can come hang out and shoot the shit. And if you want to, uh it sounds like the only after the after show is the only appropriate place for sometimes. Exactly. Okay, thank you. Oh, oh, yeah, yeah. Thank you, sir. Glad you enjoyed it.
JoeWe're here every freaking week. Every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. PC.
MattHey, we're gonna be here. Joe will be here with Dan if Dan is so up for it. Um dad's not home, guys.
JoeWe're gonna have to reach out to somebody. I don't know who we're gonna get. I don't know who we're gonna get, but we'll get somebody.
MattYeah, so if if you haven't been around when I'm not around, it can be a shit show. It can be a real shit show. So can be, yeah. It it there's opportunities for it to be really good. There's also a really good chance that it's not.
JoeIt depends on your perspective of really good or really bad.
DanIt's just different. Very different, it's gonna be best, best episodes.
MattYou'll probably get like I enjoy watching them because it's like it's one thing. I don't have any control, I got no control. I just sit back and watch. It's hilarious.
JoeThat's my favorite part that you can't do anything. I love it. You just watch it and cringe the whole time. I'm just like this the whole time. He's over here on my phone texting me. What are you talking about?
MattTick backwards. All right, we've hit it that. Nope, we're at 988. Oh, we're at 970. No, we're at 950 now. Uh Chris says, Hope everyone gets Father's Day round in. Happy Father's Day, fellas. Yeah, Father's Day this weekend. US open Sunday. Still working on a round for us Sunday. Um, haven't heard back yet. So we need to get that locked in as ASASAP because before we know it, that's gonna be a $400 round somewhere. True. Yeah, I've been told not to mention that course. So out of respect to uh the good rates that we get, um to not talk about it so people don't go there. That was Robbie, you're welcome. The drive's awful, you don't want to do it. It's a terrible drive, it's hot, there's there's nothing out there. Yeah, snakes. Yeah, stay away. Many bodies in the desert on the way there. The hills have eyes.
JoeYou've seen it. There's no there's no water out there. There, you don't even there's no bottled water or anything. You can't even drink water out there. They do nothing.
MattAll right,

MattYeah. Uh I wore the other pair, the Tony Kukkoach. Dennis Rodman, yeah. Um, well uh Brian from Par Links is we're gonna have him on the show. Uh he's a sneakerhead, and he's uh co-founder of the company. Um, I know they got a comment from somebody like these are ugly, but hey, you know they're not for everybody, you know.
JoeI think they look sick. I don't like that specific colorway, but they look good.
MattYeah, uh the white ones I have are crazy comfortable. I mean, super uh blown away with how comfortable these are crazy comfortable. What do you like?
JeremyThose are rebel colors, just payment, just oh payment. Oh I see that's a hiking.

MattThis is gonna be a banded shoe on it's so freaking comfortable on that tread. I it's I know it's hard to see, but there's three leggings that there's like a pyramid, altering, altering like a pyramid, and my god is the grip incredible!
JoeAbsolutely probably good for farming corn, too.
DanI mean, yeah, could definitely shuffle through the shit in Nebraska a lot a lot better with those shoes.
MattOh I'll pop out the Aliante and claim my prize. Okay, or if I see Steven before then, I'll give it to him. You can get it to you. Uh what? Layers.
