Welcome to the Live Members Aftershow
DanHis lines, yeah.
MattWell, there was a couple people waiting, but um they may be on that might be on mobile. If you're here, say hi.
DanHi everybody, it sound like the you said hi. Yeah, hi that was a good timing.
MattThat was a good timing. Uh welcome to the after show. This is our first live after show. This is for members only, so thank you so much for being here.
JoeMaybe it's not even working, honestly. Members only jackets.
MattOh, it says it right there. Oh, yeah, that's what we need. It's a members only jackets. That would be awesome.
DanOh, yeah.
MattUm we'll see. Well, like I said, I had it at a time to start at 8 30. So we'll see if anybody pops over then. Otherwise, uh we'll end the shit quick.
JeremyLet me see.
Jeremy's Monterey & Big Sur Road Trip
JeremySo we're gonna go on our road trip next week, you know. It is working.
MattThere's T-Dog, he's here, and it's working fine.
JoeAll right, so you're confusing it doesn't show anybody though.
MattLive that's because this is he's on his phone. He's on this phone, yeah. This is the white format, the phone version of Tracy.
DanTracy, go on YouTube real quick, on your computer if you can, and then we see if we if it you pop up in the live shot.
MattIt should.
JeremyAll right, Jeremy, you're saying road trip? Yeah, so we're going on our road trip, and we're gonna be spending two days in Monterey before we go down Big Sur. I'm trying to think, do I bring the clubs? I know it's hard to get on the main courses, but you can I can get tea times on uh um where's the B Bayonet, Bayonet or Pacific Grove Pacific Grove, get tea times there. The other ones are too hard. So short games even the hay. I can call and get a tea time at the hay, take the boys.
JoeYeah, that may be one for the boys.
DanSo Jeremy, you need to look at Poppy Hills at 3 p.m. Poppy Hills, yes, it drops to a dollar, it drops to 120 bucks. Really? I want to play poppy. That might actually be perfect, yeah.
MattSo uh game king was out there, he played Cypress Point, and then he tried to get on Pebble, but they didn't have any times. And he called him, and he's they said that Spyglass had times, though. So he's playing spyglass in the morning. So he walked on to gotta walk on to spyglass. It's five bills, but it's spyglass a lot, and he's playing playing poppy too.
JeremyI feel like certain courses I want to leave until I'm playing with you guys, or you know what I mean? Yeah, guy, like I would do poppy for sure. That I've actually that was the suggestion I I got from a couple other people was Poppy usually has times you get on in the afternoon. Yeah, I want to play.
DanAnd don't sleep, don't sleep on bayonet and black horse. I played them, I've played them both, and they're fantastic golf courses. Also, you love to drive, so Pasas is not too far.
JeremyI know it's only an hour, maybe less, 45 minutes. It's about an hour north at the PCH or Institute to break in.
DanAlso, too, Jay, um, just inset uh uh through um Monterey. If you go into the mountains away from the course, you have Quail Valley or Coil Lodge in Carmel. Yeah, in Carmel Valley. You have Coil Lodge and something else there that are pretty fun courses, too, that are probably under $200. Alban lives up in there.
JeremyYeah, stop by. Stop by, hey, Steven.
MattI'm on a computer, all good.
DanYeah, so it's still it doesn't show them live in the room. Yeah, that's weird.
MattI don't know why.
JoeSee, there's a there's a really good ice cream shop in Santa Cruz as well.
JeremyI think I had it last time. I've only been to Santa Cruz once, and I think we had it. Is it right by the boardwalk?
JoeLike on the boardwalk, it's it's on like the main street at the end of it towards Pasa.
JeremyOkay.
JoeBut no, I mean that there's so many options out there.
JeremyYou should uh pasta was there's no the the only tea time that was available was 3 30 p.m. and it was 375, 395. Right. That's walking. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which I don't know what they would do. You're going this weekend? Uh we're going Tuesday next week, all the rest of the week. Back Sunday. Hell yeah.
JoeYeah.
JeremyDriving up to Mammoth, Yosemite, south of San Francisco to park because we're scared to bring any of our stuff into San Francisco in our car. Into San Francisco, Monterey, Big Sur, Sylvang. Dang, Santa Barbara. I've always wanted to see Big Sur, so that's like the highlight. Yeah, Big Sur's awesome, dude. I'm afraid it's gonna take like 12 hours, though. I'm gonna be wanted to stop all the time. So what I mean, that's good uh Carmel Valley Ranch.
DanThat's another course out there.
JeremyOkay, I'll check it out. Check Poppy again.
JoeYeah, you can hit up a um damn. I didn't even know Bush was a premium subscriber. What the fuck? Okay, me and Bush have like a me and you uh relationship, Matt. We've never even met, but uh yeah, we talk shit to each other, so that's fun. But uh yeah, I mean the Monterey Golf guy. Oh, yeah, him up or is Scotty D still at Pebble?
MattI don't know, he hasn't answered any of my messages on his on his phone or Instagram.
Caddies, Pebble Beach, & Childhood Memories
JoeSo Scotty D. Yeah, he might not be there anymore. I could hit up Jacob, my buddy, usually caddy up there, uh on Pebble. Because there's that whole caddy thing. I mean, it they're they're voting on union unionizing caddies. So yeah, I think that's happening like this week, which was crazy. But I would try, I mean, Pacific Grove, poor man's pebble. Yeah, it looks amazing, it's cheap.
JeremyYeah, I would do I'm there, I'm like going somewhere, and then after you're like, why didn't I try to play golf? Right?
JoeYeah, no, bring your clubs, absolutely 100%. Yeah, um, when I was a kid, I remember going up there with my dad, my uncle, my cousin, and then my other uncle and my other cousin. Um, and we stayed up in Monterey. I I remember I got my first Swiss Army knife up there, first time I ever ate venison. Uh, and I remember my my uncle who was a doctor in LA, he's like, What do you guys want to do? You guys want to go deep sea fishing or you want to go play pebble beach? And my dad and my other uncle picked deep sea fishing, and uh we went deep sea fishing, and now that I'm older, I wish they picked pebble. Yeah, I mean, I probably went to play it right up, you know, but it would have been a cool memory if I was like in the cart or whatever, you know. I mean, I remember deep sea fishing, but I was in a golfer when I was eight years old, nine years old, but I remember that moment, and I and now me at 41, I'm like, what are you doing, dad? Pick up you fucked up, Dad. I was gonna be there all the time, it doesn't matter. Yeah, and uh I don't have that uh Swiss Army knife anymore, but it had a lucky charm on it. It was green and it had uh a lucky charm leaf on there. Clover? Dear me, Joe. Venison, venison. Yeah, it was very dry. It was very dry. But it was good, it was it was good, it was just dry. I just remember it being dry. Yeah, venison's and remember a lot of trees. I remember a lot of trees in Cyprus, but that's the last time I've been up there, other than Pasatiempo and Santa Cruz, which is very different, but you can drive by and see all the changes to Monterey, too.
JeremyYeah, I'll do that in Cyprus. The road goes right through Cyprus, so yeah, 17 miles stopping there. Yep, 17 mile.
DanWaving uh oh yeah, you can literally walk on to 16 T box from the road and then see 17 in the distance or uh right backwards. Yeah, 17 mile drive.
JeremyI was looking at this the street view, and it was like, there's so many signs. This is private property. Do not come on the golf course. Stop great sign, you don't belong.
JoeThere's a great Eric Anders Lang video where he talks about jumping the fence to go to go play. It's right there. Go hit the shit there.
DanYou definitely can. You're gonna be riding between Monterey Peninsula Country Club, and then you make a left and go around the bend, and you're gonna hit run right into Cypress. It's fucking crazy.
JeremyDo you know that area where you get over to Pebble where there's the hay on one side of the road, the lodge on the other side of the road? We stopping there, checking it all.
DanThere's a vineyard vine store there, Jeremy.
JeremyOh, we already have the personal served. Yeah, I gotta pick up my order. Yeah, yeah. Jim's gonna hand it me to me personally.
DanUh hello, friend. Here's your order.
JeremyYeah, he's gonna cry. Here's your order, friend.
JoeHere's your order, friend. He's about you gotta. Do you are you staying anywhere? Can you you want to stay here? Yeah, I want to play nine holes in my backyard. I would love to hit some shots in Jim Nance's backyard, honestly. Oh, for sure. Oh, I think it's sad. Easy. He's kind of old. I don't know if he's your type. No, Jeremy. Jeremy's got a that's Jeremy's boy right there. Jeremy's gonna go meet Jim Nance.
MattYeah, but
The Mystique of Cypress Point
Matthe didn't Jeremy didn't say you wanted a play in his backyard.
JoeYeah, he's gonna wear his clothes after a play in his backyard.
DanRummage through his hamper. We're gonna get Jim Nance on the podcast soon. Hey, uh get him the week after the masters.
MattDoes anybody know? I I've never seen Cypress Point other than the main holes and a couple clips. Are the inland holes just as good as the cliffside holes? For where?
DanUm the thing about the thing about Cypress is like there's not a whole lot of pictures in the history of that course.
MattThere's not a whole lot of pictures that come out. I mean, could you looking at the maps, you've got those, you know, those those crazy holes that go out on the point. But then if you look at the other part of the golf course, it's kind of just back and forth on the side of the hill there.
DanI will say this from from what Kyle told me, Mendoza, um, who has played there. He said that there's about four or five really, really, really great holes there. And the other ones are just okay. Says it's in great shape, it's beautiful. You know, you can see the ocean and stuff. He goes, but there's only really about five great holes there, and those are the ones that you see.
SPEAKER_04Wow.
DanWhich kind of adds to the mystique about it, like yeah, what makes it what it is.
JoeI would assume it's similar to Trails, where it like tells a story. I can see the only way to read that book is to play it, you know what I mean? Like I can see that. But uh Austin did ask a question, and I'm curious myself too. Timeline for CDP grips. I've told you, Garson. Shut up, Garson. We talked about it what two episodes ago.
MattYeah, it's we're hoping to have them by the end of the month. That's there.
JoeYou go. Shut your mouth, Austin. We're done. Yeah, pay attention, bro. Yeah, yeah, we're hoping.
MattGet off the tracker, pay attention.
JoeUh yeah, Bush is asking about a two-man in Destin, Florida at the end of July. Question mark, question mark. Who's going down there? Destined July.
Florida Golf Trips & Sweating in the Humidity
DanProbably none of us, but Florida in July.
JoeYeah, he'll get the home handle. That'll be terrible, dude. July brutal.
MattJoe didn't like uh Nebraska in June. He's gonna hate Florida in July.
JoeI used to live in Florida. I know you did.
MattThat's what shocks me that 30% humidity makes you wilt like a child.
JoeI don't even mind going outside when it's summer in Vegas.
DanWilt like a child. Yeah, I don't know. Just get some bugs. It's not it's more the bugs than the humidity. Get him around some bugs and then Joe be running off the golf course.
JoeWell, Nebraska had a bunch of gloves, uh, but a bunch of bugs last year, and it was better this year, but I don't know.
MattYeah, it was a lot better this year.
JoeI want to take showers every moment I have the opportunity to when it's humid.
MattBush. Destin, Florida. Oh, that's not that far from Gulf Shores. And aren't they building, isn't somebody doing a go who's doing the core?
JoeYeah, Dream Golf. Gym Golf is building one over there. Yeah. The um well, I was trying to do Cam. Um trying to do Cam's event at Fields Ranch. Uh in uh it's a it's on the border between Alabama and Georgia, but we got something going on, so I wish I could make it. When is that? It's uh it's the last weekend of August. I think. Yeah, oh yeah. It's at Fields Ranger, which looks sick. I mean, it's expensive, but we got something going on in town. I don't think I'm gonna make it. I would love to, because Cam's events are great. Who's also been on the podcast?
MattUh-huh. He has. Yeah. It didn't come during sweat season. It gets much worse than get a pivot stuck and be in a 12-inch corner shoveling mutt.
DanNo, corn sweat season.
JoeYeah, well, we did. What we were there what, three weeks ago, four weeks ago. I mean, and we were there last year in August, which was brutal. Yeah, end of August, early September. A lot of bugs. I played with uh Greg, Greg during the VGN event. He's from South Dakota as well. He knows Beds and Bob and all those guys. He's like, Yeah, it's uh he got pretty lucky because the week after we left, it it rained a shit ton, and that's when the bugs come. So yeah, we got lucky this time.
DanNebraska and May.
JoeWe did get lucky. Nebraska and May. That's the play.
DanI mean, we did get rained out a little at Indian Creek.
MattI said rained out a little bit. Very pleasant shower.
JoeYeah, it was it's great, dude. Yeah. I just wish I didn't leave my um I wish I didn't leave my rain gear. Very exposed. I was very exposed.
MattI need I need new rain gear because what I wore was not rain gear. Didn't need that in January, probably. It's gotta have Gore-Tex. Yeah, I gotta, I'm gonna have to uh shop for for Bandon. I have a feeling in my in my bones that that's gonna be uh adventure. It's gonna be a dumper.
JeremyWe tried the zero restriction stuff. I know it's extremely expensive, but it's amazing. My god, good. Yeah, like you're not even wearing it, it's what that's what it feels like. You can swing freely, yeah. But man, you pay for it. It's that expensive for a reason. So expensive.
MattLike like 600 bucks for like a jacket and yeah, it's for those guys that play in that shit for money, you know, right when you have to have rain gear to get a paycheck to make it to next week. Yeah, that's who that shit's for. It's not for the guy who wants to live in Nevada and plays in the rain once every you know, 30 years.
JoeLying out of his teeth, this guy lying.
MattYou know where the ball flies fire was not in Vegas when it's 110 and 4% just to that too.
JoeLike I've been I was crushing it, and like I'm not used to this, and summer numbers and winter numbers are completely different out here.
MattWell, and then you you you get heat and then a fast, dry, course like Boulder Creek. And I mean, we had a lot of the the shots where the guys were looking for balls was because it went through the fairway.
JoeYeah. Yeah. No. Put the bag on it, he says. I would put the bag on. Yeah, but then it's not going further in humidity, there's no chance. The ball does not go further in humidity than it does in dry air. No question, right? Correct. Matt would put the bag on it if you put something up against that, that's worth it too. I bet you.
MattThat if you play in 60% humidity and you play in 4% humidity, the ball does not travel differently. That's what I've I've I have no way of proving it, but I've heard it.
JeremySo maybe we can ask Phil Tickleson. I mean, we didn't talk about that either.
JoePhil would know, he knows all those little things. Here, well, Matt Gonterk also left Vegas,
Science Time: Does Humidity Affect Ball Distance?
Joetoo.
MattYeah, we can't even reach out to the weather guy. Yeah, let's uh let's let's reach out to the Google Gemini Google Gemini's best friend. Does a golf ball travel further or shorter when it's very humid? See what she says.
JoeOh, it's a she. Are you friends? You guys are best friends now? Is it a she or a he, Matt? Or is it a them? Uh-oh. I would I would say Google, I would say Google Gemini's a them, but uh oh.
MattA golf ball actually travels further when it's very humid through a different, though the difference is quite small. This often surprises people because it goes against our intuition. Here's a breakdown of why it happens and how much it actually impacts your game. When it's humid out, the air feels thick, sticky, and heavy because it feels harder to breathe and move through. It's natural to assume that a golf ball would be harder time flying through it, too. In reality, humid air is less dense than dry air. The makeup of air, dry air is mostly made up of nitrogen and oxygen molecules, adding humidity. When the air becomes humid, water vapor displaces some of what nitrogen and oxygen. The weight difference, a molecule of water vapor is actually lighter, has less mass than both nitrogen and oxygen molecules molecules. Because the lighter water molecules are replacing heavier gas molecules, the overall density of the air drops. Less dense air means there's less aerodynamic drag acting on the golf balls, it flies with less drag holding it back, the ball flies further.
JoeBush's trying to get on the podcast, man. That's what he's doing. You know, he asks all the time.
DanBut if it's cold, humid, it's not going to fly.
MattWhen the science is clear, the real world impact on your scorecard is pretty minimal. For a typical golfer hitting a driver, the difference is carry distance between bone-dry air, no humidity, and incredibly muggy air, 100% humidity, at the same temperature is usually only about two yards. The real distance killers are temperature and altitude. Cold air is much denser than warm air, the ball will fly significantly shorter on cold day compared to a hot day. Air gets much thinner as higher elevations, you will hit the ball noticeably further in Denver Colorado than you will at sea level. So while humidity technically adds a tiny bit of distance to your shot, it's not enough to change your club selection.
DanIt just depends on the temperature.
JoeYou did not specify, Bush. You did never specified.
DanUm, I've played in a lot of different places, and I've played when it's freezing ass cold with 100% humidity in California and hit and driver 220 yards, and I played in the time, and you hit and driver 280 fucking yards. So temperature has everything to do with the humidity, yeah, or with the ball force.
JoeYeah, humidity sucks, but if it's if it's like 70 and humid and overcast, I'm down. But if it's sunny and humid, I'm out.
MattHe say if humidity, he's down.
JoeNo, 70 like in like in San Diego overcast and like humid, like 65, 70. I'm like, give me a hoodie. Give me a different that's different. Absolutely.
DanPlaying Torrey South on the fog.
JoeOoh, fog boys. Fog boys. That was crazy. Yeah. I wish I was. I because I was gonna play with you guys that day, but I couldn't. And dude, I would have loved to see that. Because one of my one of my favorite, one of my favorite times I ever played golf. I mean, I played solo at San Clemente, but it was fogged fogged. Like you couldn't even see the ball. You couldn't see 20 feet in front of you. I wish, dude, that was one of my dude, so sick. It was so sick. The fog just creates the lore and the legend and like the atmosphere. It was so cool.
unknownYeah.
JoeSan Clemente by itself, too, Muni is killer.
MattI played the the first time at Band and I ever played at PAC was there was fog. It was, but it was a mix of fog and forest fire smoke.
JoeSo I would have started crying probably.
MattNo, because you couldn't see anything. I mean, it was my first time there, and I was walking by myself. You know, I had the little rickshaw. And uh, I mean it was a blast, but man. Yeah, I'm not going to be able to do that. My second July. Oh, yeah.
JoeThat would be so brutal, man. July. I lived in Florida.
MattI mean, there's the humidity there has to be like 80-90% all the time, though, right? Right there on the on the ocean.
JoeWhen I live there, I for sure took two showers a day, at least. At least. Sometimes three or four.
unknownGood God.
JoeDoing a long day every day. You take a shower, you get in your car, and you're just your seats wet because you just auto-sweat.
MattIt's auto. The first time I played golf in Alabama, that was like that. It's like, good lord, the ground is so soft and you can't breathe. Sure it's stuck to you. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
MattNo thanks.
JoeStill saying it's not bad. Yeah, it's very bad, Bush. It's very bad.
Brainstorming the 2027 Chasin' Daylight Tournament
MattSo I think uh we should start looking at some golf weekend things like February, March, you know, since we won't have VGN events. Yeah. Uh to uh worry about and uh you know knock out some.
JoeI was telling everybody that you're you're getting a van and you're gonna go live down by a river somewhere.
MattGot the van already. Check.
JoeDo Rams Hill.
MattMight drive that van to Bandon.
JoeThat would be sick. Rams Hill would be sick, but there's nowhere for everybody to stay.
JeremyI got a van. They don't have lodging at the at Sleep Hill.
JoeIf you we do we could hit up, we could hit up uh I could talk to Rams Hill Will and see how many. I mean, I don't know, but yes, we need to do it.
MattI think it'd I know they have camper parking. Just bring a tent and and there we go.
JoeCoachella, the golf coachella.
MattYeah, yeah. Yeah. I mean, the van's got a shower, a shitter, and uh refrigerator. I mean, somebody will have to sleep in the tent, but I'll be in the AC.
JoeSo Bush, what we're talking about is doing a Chasin Daylight podcast, like golf thing next year, is what we're talking about.
MattYeah.
JoeTournament.
MattThat would be how to look about think about a place we can go do that at.
JoeYeah, we'd have to find like a do it like San Sand Hollow. Or yeah, those, yep. Yeah. Awesome. 36? Yeah. Somewhere in Flagstaff. Yeah, that would be sick. Alabama, yeah. We're thinking more.
MattOh, yeah, we can go hit up Rocky.
JoeYeah, we could go to Dogwood Hills, yeah. Yeah, that's a hookup.
MattThat would be fun.
JoeYeah, I think or Paca Ridge.
MattThere's so many places, so many places, but I'm not gonna I'm not gonna stress on it.
JoeI'm no, that's the thing. It's gonna be kind of easy.
MattIt's gonna be kind of waste of time. We're not doing this.
JoeI mean, but just think like before even the VGN legends ever die, like I know that was a lot of work, but it was a lot of work for a little bit. VGN was a lot of work all the time, all the time, all year. Dude, Miles came, Miles came and never met him, and he came from Delaware.
MattYeah, that was crazy. Insane, crazy. So, I mean, if we could do that before we knew anything, you know, we pulled that off with not knowing anything. So, I mean, I think we can still do it. I mean, I my connections in the golf space were a lot better back then because I was still doing a lot of reviews and still had a lot of delayers and all that stuff, yeah. Yeah, but there's no reason we can't do it again, you know.
JoeYeah, we don't we don't even you don't even have to give give a bunch of cool shit away either.
SPEAKER_04No.
DanLet's go to uh let's go to uh Purcell. Use Maddie's connections.
JoeYeah, Bush would be right there, too.
MattFirst first event of 2027 is gonna be the River Wilds Open. Yes.
JoeIn Blind Blair, Nebraska. Quarioaks would be sick. Yep, quaryokes would be sick.
JeremyYou had to do it during the testicle festival, though. Yes, that would have to happen.
JoeAnd do awards. I think, dude, quarryok's is pretty central as well, and I think it's a worthy golf course.
MattYeah, they just there's no accommodations closer there, though.
DanI just easier but it and yeah, I know it's it's not there's another nine holes here that we didn't even play. I have 27 holes here at quarry at quarry at quarry the red feather course. We didn't play the red feather course. Oh, I'm sorry, Indian. You're talking about Indian Creek. Don't do that to me. Sorry, sorry, scared the shit out of me. I'm like, what? My fault. That was Indian Creek.
JoeYeah, I dude, like I think Indian Creek's cool, but Cory Oaks was the star of the show on our trip, I think. Did not expect how dope that place was.
DanCory Oaks was fantastic, yeah. It was a great golf course. Yeah, that was uh that was a real banger.
JoeBanger. Banger, banger.
DanI knew nothing about the had no idea.
MattNothing like that. Yeah, so good, so good.
Grassy App Updates & Architect Tracking
MattYeah, um, dude, I I know I showed you guys that little thing in the text chat, but the Grassy app, Jacob is doing some really good things with that app.
JoeHe is, yeah. I saw that, and yeah, he's doing a good job.
MattPretty fucking cool that now because um they have this thing called my card, tour card. And um of course I bring it up.
JoeThat's what we like to hear. Payment. That's what we like to hear payment. Let's go anytime, bro. That's uh that's uh drop everything, be there in two weeks moment. Yep, FYI.
MattSo it's got all the you have to figure this out. So it's got uh all the courses I've played, how many yards I've played, uh rounds, holes, time, uh it's got your favorite architects, it's got uh distance, uh it's got most courses played, courses rated. I mean, it's it really is going into a lot of depth. Um, and if you use the Gen app to track your stats, all that comes over. Um, but it's all the courses you ranked, the the most played, so it's got you know Revere up there, Legacy, Coyote Springs. Um that's good.
JoeThe architect thing is sick. The architect thing I really liked. Yeah, I like it and I told him I go ahead and I was like, oh, I need to go post more on there now, but I'm gonna train class.
MattAnd I told you because right now you can't click on the architect to see what courses you've played by that architect. He said that's coming in the next update. The next update which one needs to check off by that architect. Yeah, I can I can click, you know, uh Pete Dye and bring up all the courses that I've I can see that I've played by Pete Dye. So that's coming. Um, so that's top architects and then favorite architect. They take your rankings and then rank the architect based on that. So yeah, which Andy Banfield, I'm like, because I told him I go, I want to know who Andy Banfield is. Why who the hell is Andy Bangfield? Um, he's actually the designer of Shadow Creek. Tom Fosio gets all the credit, but he was like the main designer.
JoeSame thing with uh uh Pinehurst 10. Yeah, I mean Pinehurst 10 doak designed it, but like uh what's her name? It's a girl, she like was on property, like making it happen.
MattSo I said the longest course of Cory Pines at 7,800 yards, but I know I didn't play it at 7,800 yards. But yeah, so fantastic update. Uh check that out.
JoeWell done.
MattYeah, very well done. Um, it just keeps on getting better with every update. So shout out Jacob.
JoeYeah, I guess we can download that grassy app. I need to get more on there and just kill it. Yeah, I should download it.
DanYou haven't downloaded it yet? No, I thought that's what you just said. I should download it.
JoeNo, no, I know. I I need to get more on there. Oh, I have it. I have it. I have rankings and everything.
DanYeah, you need to get more passies.
JoeNo, you don't need passies. This is baby passy. You don't need this, you're a big girl. Um, but yeah, no, I need to get more on there.
MattIt's just the time. Dude, Brooklyn was addicted to her pacifier, and we were trying to break her of it, and it just nothing worked. And then we forgot it one time when we were leaving the house, and I'm like, oh shit. So I just ran into Walgreens and grabbed one, and it was the different material uh of the nipple, right? And she put it in her mouth and went, spit it out. Never wanted one again. I was like, fucking parent here. Wow, that's actually a miracle. Yeah, it it worked. It was like so funny. I mean I'm not scared to lose the bag because the bag isn't going anywhere. If the bag was going anywhere, I'd be scared, but since it's not, not on that bag, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
JeremyThe
The Endless Search for the Perfect Golf Bag
Jeremyname is on that bag. Is there a name on it?
MattYeah, uh Danny Lee. Oh, yeah, that's right.
JoeYeah, but you're not gonna get that bag.
JeremyHe did the same thing to me.
MattThis coming.
JeremyIs that like vessel style material?
MattUh no, I don't believe. It's the typical hyper light.
JoeThat's a letdown. That's a letdown. I thought it I thought it was vessel like I don't like the vessel bags.
MattThe vessel bags are so heavy and bulky. I just not a fan of them.
JeremyJoe, check that new Jones that they just released.
MattI pick up Julian's bag and I'm like, what the fuck do you have in here?
JeremyI don't think it has the big weird pocket anymore. I don't think it does. Oh, it does the luxury one, the draw, the drawstring pocket.
DanWell, it's a zipper now. There's one that's like a zipper pocket instead of the drawstring one, but it's the same shape.
JoeUtility bags, yeah.
MattI think it's fucking so big.
JeremyI'll never do another Jones bag. Rover's the only one that's remotely size. Never mind, that's huge.
MattJoe needs a minimalist golf bag. No, I didn't like it. Nah, the minimal bag.
JoeJust honestly, the only bag that I'm like kind of like, hey, I would I would get that is the Sunday golf bag. Uh but you don't like the foil pocket? I don't like the foil pocket, but uh what is it, the S class, the writer S class. But I'm you know, yeah, but my I dude, I messaged him like Josh, hey, come on.
MattNothing could could order some, but yeah. I don't want to wait. I figured if I wait for Joe to get the golf bags from Sunday golf, I'd be like the the ball markers that I'm still waiting for.
unknownYeah.
JoeThey'll come at some point, don't worry about it.
unknownYeah.
JoeDude, everything's sitting. But I do need a new golf bag very badly.
MattThat's why I would do I like that. I really like the Callaway bag that I have. The the staff uh bag. It's it's you know the stand bag, but it's a staff bag, and the quality on it is absolutely outstanding. But what the valuables pocket just drives me absolutely insane because it is so fucking deep, and you lose shit in there, and it's just so annoying. You can't put anything in it. I mean, the thing is you could put everything in it, but you don't want that for that. So I put no, I think uh back and play for a little bit.
JoeI think the VLS uh vessel bag is almost perfect. It's just the pocket on the side is just too shallow, it just needs to be like two inches deeper, and it it'd be the perfect bag.
MattDan, are you still happy with your ghost bag? Absolutely.
DanYeah, very, very much so. That's good to hear.
MattNo, no issues with it yet, breaking down any parts or anything. All good. Zippers are sturdy, it's easy to keep clean.
DanMagnets are still magnetized.
JoeSee, but that's what's great about the ghost bag, is like two valuable pockets. Ghost doesn't make golf clubs, so you can put any golf club in there, right? The ping hoofer is a great bag. I don't play any ping, so I can't put clubs that are not ping. I have to have at least one ping wedge in there, or else I just feel like an absolute loser.
MattYes, that's ridiculous.
JeremyIs the choice for colleges, everything.
DanJoe, just put the put your hitting greens towel with the ping man on.
JeremyBut you know what? You need to find a blank ping hoofer. That's what you need.
MattYeah, no logo.
JeremyPing hoofer, I'm down, but yeah. If you want, you know what? You can order that you have to order three. You have to order three, and you can get them from ping, they'll be blank. Maybe we just need to find one other person and just order because I would love a blank.
DanAnd sell them on whatnot, bro.
MattYeah, yeah. It's six, sell five of them and free bag.
JoeNo, bags don't do well on whatnot, they're trash. Nobody buys bags on whatnot. You only buy bags on whatnot because you're gonna steal.
DanYeah, hey, bro.
JoeThey're not great.
DanYou gotta let your logo speak for itself, Joe.
JoeI went with that one just because it's simple, clean, yeah, this bag is great, but I don't want callaway broadcasted on my bag. I mean, I know you're a you're a company man, but like that bag looks sick, but I don't want the callaway on there. That's I would I would prefer a brag uh bag brand or like blank.
MattI don't like I don't like having a branded on my that's had Joe written all over it. Yeah, never. I would never is that real? That is real. I thought it was fake too. That is real.
JoeI saw the behind the scenes uh video of them like filming like the marketing stuff for that. I would never, never, ever no, yeah, never get back together forever ever, but never no, I'm so picky with the bag, that's the problem. It's like I'll be in the dumps and very need a new bag. You've seen my closet.
MattYou've seen how many bags I have in my closet. That's too many. I gotta have to donate like five of them. Yeah, yeah. Well, I see something, I think it's great, and then I use it, and it sucks. Like that, I have that white ping bag that I thought was amazing, and god, that thing was just trash so fast.
JoeExactly. Timu has options, but it's all trash. I'm searching for the perfect bag, and that's the problem. Like, I love my vessel VLS. Just two more inches of room on that side pocket, perfect. I'm too picky. That's the problem. I'm just too picky.
MattYeah, everybody has that, yeah.
JoeNot on bags. I used to not be picky, I used to have 14 spots for all my clubs. Where'd that where'd that guy go? Where'd that guy go? I'm glad he's back.
MattHe left a long time ago. That's one of the first bags I ever did a review on was a a 14 slot carry Nike bag.
JoeYeah, yeah. The fucking the 14 slot with the it's got the 14 slots and it's got the rubber, so it doesn't rattle.
JeremyYou've seen the ones that like you can like rotate the club thing around, yeah. Like RSL, yeah, gross, so gross, disgusting. Oh my goodness. And the separate slot for your putter, no offense to anyone.
MattYou just spit it, and when it stops on the club, that's the club you have to hit.
JeremyYep.
JoeAnd that's one of those things you gotta be over like 65 to have. You know, you gotta be a little older. You gotta be Matt's age at least.
MattGotta own your own golf cart, your bag never leaves it. I was talking to Ricky
The Rising Costs of Country Club Memberships
MattJohnson today, right? And he's having some bag problems, so he hasn't played golf in a little bit. And I'm like, hey, is golf like prices blowing up? Because he's in uh the woodlands area in in Houston, a little north of the city. And uh Blue Jack, Blue Jack area. He said, uh he goes, yeah, he goes, it's crazy. He said um it used to be his dues were used to be like 200 a month, and now it's 750 a month. He said that he used to take his own cart, no problem, but now if he wants to take his own cart, he has to pay an extra 125 a month. And so instead he pays $30 to take a cart now. He they ding him for a cart fee. He said it because it's it's stupid. And he said so many people have left other clubs and come to theirs because they're raising the prices on everywhere else so much.
