I absolutely destroyed my white callaway hat today by playing in what felt like 75% humidity. Um I just I put it on before I came out here, and I'm like, what is on my hat? And I took it off and looked. Yeah, it looks like it's been soaked in urine, it's yellow. Oh you got some color today, too, Matt.

Apparently, uh David Howard, a qualified mechanic battling cystic fibrosis, also achieved his lifetime dream of qualifying for the 154th open championship. And uh former truck driver named Dean managed punches to get to the final spot as well. So congrats, congrats, guys. Look at Strange coming in. What a dude.

Yeah, so the yeah, great, great golf course. They did a little bit of rerouting on it. Um, Scotty did not play great. A lot of his his iron game wasn't there, and you know, shit, it happens. I think his cut streak would have came to an end sooner if he because I I believe they are counting the no cut events as you know, yeah, making the weekend, which I just I don't think they should count those. It's that only pertains to if you're playing in an event with a cut.

Are you more shocked that Scotty missed the cut or Nelly missing a cut? The way Nelly's been playing lately, probably Nelly. Right. You know, I was kind of surprised too. First time two number ones and miss a cut in the same week.

Yeah, Scotty has been playing okay. I don't think he's been playing great, but I mean he did finish second in the US Open, and you know, he's let's go. He's a baller.

He just hasn't looked like typical Scotty, you know. Seems like last year his his iron striking's a little off. You know, last year he was seemed like every time he was approaching the green, he had five, six, you know, seven, eight feet for birdie.

Revere Golf Club Renovations & Course Conditions

Jeremy and I got out to Revere today, this afternoon. Shout out to the crew out there with Alex. Thanks so much. Yeah, uh, Lexington is getting some renovation done to it. They're getting some new uh fairway grass. They're going to a uh Bermuda all fairway on the right now. They're doing all the par fives. So that's uh two, seven. Uh let's see, what is it 15? What's the other part? Or three. So 10 was 12. Straight up new grass. Yeah, yeah, they're it's all brand new grass.

Did they burn it already though? Because typically they burn it around this time of year.

I yeah, yeah, it's it's dry.

And they're also doing holes one and hole eighteen. So we were out there today and saw the new grass down. Down, it's getting watered. It's they're ahead of schedule. So when it I'm pretty sure I didn't, I should have asked when they're gonna reopen, but I'm pretty sure they're gonna wait till after the overseed.

Yeah, I mean, but they've they eliminated 10 bunkers on the course that were really wow, unnecessary. Uh the most notable one that you can see is on the the anthem loop on 15 or 16. Sorry. The if you were to hit your T shot dead straight left, there's a bunker on that hill. Um, the part five on the road hole.

They took off took out by the cart path on three. Yeah, the the th there's like four bunkers there. They got rid of the furthest one down from the T. On seven, they said they filled in some of the grass bunkers because they said it was just stupid to have the grass out there and have to mow it and maintain it.

Those are about my designed by Billy Casper and Greg Nash. Yeah, is Revere. And yep. I've heard horror stories about all that shit, but another one maybe changes that they the Alex told me.

Was on so it's uh 10, 11, 12, the dog leg to the right that goes from left to right, and then there's like church pew bunkers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They got rid of the furthest one from the T there as well. So a little bit more room to carry those bunkers now from the T. So yeah, so it's uh you know, good good for them. And they have some sand coming. They're just there's lack of equipment to get it out to the course.

I think 10 at Dragon Ridge is a better hole than Revere, but one of my favorite things is if you do end up in a good spot on 10 at Revere uh Lex, it's a super fun shot and it challenges you. That approach is quite like that.

Arroyo Golf Club Routing & Rumors of Going Private

Oh, somebody played a Royal twice this week getting ready for the weekend. How is it?

Oh damn. How's it be? Dog I've heard it's in good shape. Yeah, I'm curious how the games are. Did they put bridge like uh bridges over the roads or anything? Because that's our maybe it feels discombobulated, okay?

No, they do not bad. They print you a map quest when with your scorecard.

Yeah, you know what they need to do, they need to have like a little cart pad, a little a little trolley that you roll your card up on, and then you just it plays some music while it drives you to the next hole, so you don't have to do you just kick back and mess around on your phone and oh hey, we're here. Yeah, because you're getting the ferry out to the the green and at quarter lane.

Yeah, it feels like you're visiting your your neighbor, and then you gotta go get the mailbox, and then you gotta go check on something else. There's your car fire flights tea off in this guy's backyard.

Rough was a paper route when you play there. Yeah, the uh rough at Arroyo's one of the only places in town that has sticky rough, like thick. It is it's good.

I like the there's nothing wrong with the Royal itself, right? It's a good golf course. It just it's just the time spent in the cart that is unnecessary. They they should have mapped out the community a little bit better and figured out a better routing. That's our only beef with it. Because I saw T Tiel was saying our favorite golf course. It's just the driving, you backtracking, and you know, you're going to routing is cross for routing sucks. Yeah, but awful.

Yeah, there's there's rumors. What what I've heard that is if they um get approval to build some resort style living where the athletic center is now, then that's what they're gonna do. They're gonna shut it down and and make it private. Not really a practice course for the members, just another option for the members. Yeah, and then we lose another course. Lose another course. Speaking of losing another course, yeah, losing courses every day. We'll give world famous a few moments because he he apparently loves the affected.

Remembering Lost Vegas Golf Courses

Silverstone was a lot of great golf. I never got um Badlands. I I never really had a good time at Badlands because it I mean it was it was not an easy golf course. Very target golf, very target golf, very drunk Johnny Miller design.

Yeah, but it's not all about conditions, I mean yeah, but you it it's you should have seen it. My problem with the royal nothing makes sense with the golf course. Why is there black sand on this hole and there's not black sand on any other hole? It's it's rep because it's like why there's one why exactly why is one hole twined with trees, like I love that hole, and everything else is like nothing. It was a theme, it's catching on.

There we go. T this is this is gimmicky used perfectly right here. It was it was 18 uh of Jack's greatest holes design, and they don't fit together because it's it wasn't it's a compilation album, it's not a greatest design, not a book, it's not an album, it's a compilation.

Okay, for somebody who worked there and actually knows the history of that golf course, it was not a design of his greatest holes, it was replica of holes that he could fit in that area. If there was a design of his greatest holes, every hole would it would be fucking Muirfield West. You know what I mean? So that's true. It's it was a get it was definitely definitely gimmicky as far as the as the as the theme to the golf course. But when that golf course opened up, it was Shadow Creek's rival. It was that yeah, it was in incredible shape. Greens were like 14s on the stemp, everything was perfect. It was same with the Royal Langs. Not not one blade of grass was. I mean, it was it was incredible, but then Club Corps lost it, and there you go, everything goes downhill.

I mean, I played it for 35 bucks one time, and I was stoked. It was the first time I ever played it. I played it for, I mean, I liked I'm I've you know, I think that's the first time we ever played golf together. Was at Bears Best. Maybe I don't recall. Yeah, I don't recall, but I the golf holes, the singular as as a single, fine, like uh great holes, but they just don't tell the story of the moment. That's correct. That's my beef with that place. Dude, I love 17. I loved 18. I there's a lot of holes I really liked out there.

Uh yeah, so Jeremy, we played a match today. We played it handicapped. He played from the gold tees with me and um was putting a thumping on me, and then I made a little charge, made a little comeback.

And had a chip in on 16 that was tiger-esque because it slowly just Trickle, trickle boys, trickle boys, and then 17, as in true fashion of me playing golf on the 17th hole, kicked my nuts in. So lost three and one. But it was fun. It was I like I like having something on the table playing for you. Always having a match and not just out there, you know. So I hit I hit two fairways on the day. Uh was overdrawing everything. I hit two fairways, uh, the 17th and 18th. That's my my team, my ball was going hard left, like hard left. And I said, okay, I'm not gonna hit this left. I'm gonna weaken my grip. And and I've been working on a weaker grip, anyways, to combat the hard hooks and air mailed it into the ditch. So it was on the right side, so it's like ah, but uh yeah, I think all uh looking forward to Saturday uh VGN tournament. They're they're getting down to the wire, getting down to the wire. We only got so many events left. Uh, and then the the VGN is gone. So we got uh Arroyo, then we got Sienna on August 8th, we got Coyote Springs on September 19th. I knew you was that fool's gonna say something. Uh-oh. Not not anyway. Uh-oh.

I I get that, but and I get it from like a YouTube golf standpoint, you know, because I uh playing with Julian a lot and when we film shots and something special is going on, you want to let everybody know what's going on, you know. Like when we were at out at Southern Highlands and Julian was trying to hit this crazy slice between the trees because his fade wasn't working, uh, you know, on that shot. Yeah, we're gonna hey, and I'm like, hey Julian, tell me what's going on, you know, because that's like a small video that's gonna go up, that's gonna get consumed, and people need to know what's going on. When you're watching an event that has been on for five hours or four hours, you know what's going on. You don't need to have the play by play of every thought in their head, but it's it's that's the way it is, and I'm I'm totally fine with that being the way it is.

He's not gonna come out of his element. If you if you follow around, you go to PGA tour event, you follow around PGA tour players, there's reasons they're not all mic'd up all the time because it's fucking boring, they're just out there playing golf and there's no like crazy conversations going on because they're just out there doing their job.
