Hello everyone. This is Pastor Dean Thompson with a word of hope walking on water. Matthew chapter fourteen verses twenty two through thirty three. And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray. And when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves, for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit, and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched out, stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were coming to the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. Jesus made his disciples get into a boat while he dismissed the crowds and went into a mountain to pray. The word made a nag a nag a nagzo means to compel or force, suggesting that the disciples were reluctant to leave without it. But he compelled them to go. The boat was beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. In the fourth watch of the night, about between three to six AM, Jesus came walking on the sea. The disciples thought he was a ghost and cried out in fear. Jesus immediately said, Take heart, it is I, do not be afraid. The phrase it is I, Ego Amy, is the divine name. The same words God used with Moses and the burning bush. Peter asked to walk on water too, and he walked successfully until he saw the wind and began to sink. Oh you of little faith, why did you doubt? Jesus asked. The word doubt the stagzo means to waver between two opinions. What storms in your life is Jesus asking you to trust him through? Are you focused on the wind and the waves or on Jesus? What would you attempt if you knew Jesus was calling you? Oh Lord, please help us to keep our eyes on you during life storms. Give us courage to step out in faith when you call. And when we begin to sink, reach out and save us. Amen. God bless you, brothers and sisters.
