Hello everyone. This is Pastor Dean Thompson with a word of hope. What defiles a person? And he called the multitude and said unto them, Hear and understand. Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man, but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. Then came his disciples and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended after they heard this saying? But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly father hath not planted shall be rooted up. Let them alone they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable. And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? Do not ye yet understand that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught. But those things which which proceedeth out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but not to eat with unwashing hands defileth not a man. But to eat with unwashing hands defileth not a man. Jesus called the crowd and taught them it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth. This defiles a person. The word defiles coin all means to make common or unclean. The disciples warned that the Pharisees were offended by this teaching. And Jesus responded, Every plant that my heavenly father has not planted will be rooted up. False teachings won't ultimately prevail. Let them alone. The word guides hodegos means those who show the way. Spiritually blind leaders lead others into destruction. Jesus explained privately that external food passes through the body, but heart attitudes produce lasting defilement. Out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander? Are you more concerned with external cleanliness or heart purity? What comes out of your mouth, life or death, blessing or cursing? How can you guard your heart more carefully? Oh Lord, please help us to focus on heart purity rather than external appearances. Help us to guard our mouth from speaking defilement. Cleanse our thoughts, our heart from evil thoughts and attitudes. And help us to be pleasing in your sight. Amen. God bless you, brothers and sisters.
