Hello everyone. This is Pastor Dean Thompson with a word of hope. The sign of the times Matthew chapter sixteen verses one through four. The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening ye say it will be fair weather, for the sky is red, and in the morning it will be full weather today, for the sky is red and glory. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky, but ye cannot discern the time the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall be no sign given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas, and he left them and departed. The Pharisees and Sadducees, despite their theological differences, despite their constant animosity towards each other, united to test Jesus by demanding a sign from heaven. The word testo means to examine or tempt. They weren't genuinely seeking truth. Jesus replied, When it is evening, you say it will be fair weather, for the sky is red. And in the morning it will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening. You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. They could read weather patterns, but missed the spiritual climate. The signs of the times, Kairos referred to the opportune moment of Messiah's presence. Jesus refused to give them a sign except the sign of Jonah, his death and resurrection. Then he left them and departed. Are you better at reading natural circumstances than spiritual ones? What signs of God's activity are you missing in your current season? How do you discern the spiritual climate around you? Oh Lord, please help us to discern the signs of the times spiritually. Open our eyes to see what you are doing in our season. Don't let us miss your activity because we are focused on the wrong things. Please help us, O Lord. Amen. God bless you, brothers and sisters.
