Hey Leaders. It’s episode 76!
Feeling stuck is no fun. It’s this uncomfortable, something just not right, I can’t shake it, kind of feeling.
And other times we can have a bit of a blind spot to being stuck. We don’t really feel it because we’ve become sort of immune to noticing the feelings of being stuck. All too common, especially if you’ve been in a high-achieving leadership role for a while.
Let me walk down this path with you and you’ll be well on your way to getting unstuck.

So, being stuck can be sneaky. The immunity we can build to the feelings of being stuck is a very real thing.
Sometimes we can really be in a funk and it’s not sneaky at all, but this tends to look a lot more like burnout and less like being stuck.
Today I’m talking about being stuck. One of the differences between burnout and being stuck is that burnout can take considerably more time and effort to recover from.
Being stuck on the other hand can be acute or more temporary and has the potential to be immediately shifted. This can happen most commonly in four different ways.
A powerful question that reframes your thinking.
An experience, story, or encounter with a timely message that puts things in perspective for you.
A conversation with your mentor.
And the one I’m focusing on today: making a conscious decision.
Making a simple, conscious decision is incredibly powerful. If you think back to your first big experience with success in your business, it likely started with one decision. Maybe you’ve even heard others describe how they started out before they had big success.
“I made a decision.”
“I decided that’s what I was going to do.”
Now, the path preceding this decision and the twists and turns that happened prior to the decision are unique to each individual's experience.
Some have to see others succeed, sort of get passed by, if you will, to spark their own decision.
Some get angry.
Some are simply excited and full of passion.
For each person, there is a unique path that precedes the making of the decision. But the common denominator is a distinct point in time, a moment of pure clarity, this momentum of forward-thinking when all the possibility, all the hope, all the excitement, determination, and assurance come together. And a decision is made.
When was the last time you experienced this?
Recently? If it’s been a while, you would be like most high-achieving leaders in direct sales.
There’s a lot of coaching others when this decision happens. There’s a lot of waiting and wanting to work with others that bring themselves to this decision.
But when was the last time you personally had a powerful decision-making-moment like this?
Are you due for one?
If you’re stuck, this is one powerful strategy to get yourself unstuck.
What do you need to make a decision on? What is something you’ve been wavering on, in a sneaky kind of way, you’ve been stuck with it for a while? Listening today helped bring it front and center. You’re welcome.
