In our latest episode of the Electric Spirit Podcast, we welcome the distinguished Kurtis Lee Thomas, an expert in corporate mindfulness and a celebrated keynote speaker, to explore the transformative power of breathwork detox. Kurtis shares his personal journey, emphasizing the importance of deep diaphragmatic breathing as an antidote to the shallow breathing many of us fall into. Kurtis reveals how mastering breathwork techniques has not only helped him overcome severe anxiety but also led to a career as a certified life coach, hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner, and Reiki master. His compelling success stories, including women achieving pregnancy through breathwork, highlight the profound physical and emotional healing that can occur when we release energetic blockages. Jamie Lynn

Hi Curtis, Welcome to the Electric Spirit Podcast.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Hey, jamie, thank you for having me.

Jamie Lynn

Thank you. Can you tell the audience a little bit about yourself?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Jamie, thank you for having me. Thank you, can you tell the audience a little bit about yourself? Oh gosh, okay, well, my name is Curtis Lee Thomas and I go by manfromthestars on Instagram and my account is it's very diversified into spiritual awakening, helping people on their path of spiritual awakening, which can be brutal at times. It's beautiful and brutal at the same time. Right, and I'm a breathwork master trainer, so I have a lot of time aside training people in my modality, breathwork detox, and I also do corporate mindfulness. So I brought breathwork into some big organizations like Nike and NASA and the Capital Group. So you know that's fun because I feel brought breathwork into some big organizations like Nike and NASA and the Capital Group. So that's fun because I feel like breathwork's the Trojan horse to the work that we do and it's very accepted because you're just breathing air. Quotes.

Jamie Lynn

Yeah, exactly. No, that's great. And what is breathwork detox exactly? And maybe walk me through the process of what happens during and after?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Sure. So breathwork detox is the modality that I created. It's based upon deep, diaphragmatic breathing, so deep down into the abdomen where a lot of us we don't breathe. So if you've got a room full of people and said everyone on the count of three, take a deep breath, they take a deep breath. They all breathe in their chest and their clavicles and their shoulders and they're not breathing in their belly and that's called paradoxical breathing. And if you look at a fish or a dog or a baby, if you watch a baby breathe, when a baby takes a breath, their belly moves. When we take a breath, our belly doesn't move and that's because of one main reason of something that happened to us called life, and you know we get a lot of stress and things stuck in our diaphragm and it's really hard to breathe down into that area. But it's a very important area which I hope we can get into in later times.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And this is done lying down on your back, so you're not upright in a seated position like meditation, which makes it like there's no barrier to entry with breathwork, and that's why I love it.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

There's a lot of barriers to entry with yoga and even meditation that we can get into. Well, with breathwork, you just lie down on your back, you breathe and you're going to have an experience. And, unlike yoga and meditation, the results of breathwork are immediate and undeniable from one session, and I think that's why so many people are flocking to this modality, not just because the studies are coming out. We have breathwork searches have spiked over 400% and you know the world is stressed right now. So people are looking for, you know, modality. Harvard did a study and they said 60 to 90% of all doctor's visits are stress related. So you know they're looking for this modality that moves the needle right, something that actually works. And you know people are getting results and that's why I dedicated, you know, my life, my career to bringing this to the world my career to bringing this to the world.

Jamie Lynn

Wow, that's amazing, that's great. I love it. Thank you, yeah, and how is this different from, let's say, yoga or meditation?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Okay, great, it's a great segue into that. You know, let's talk about the barriers to entry. Well, when it comes to yoga, first of all, yoga without conscious breathing is just stretching, that's all it is. So you have to bring the breath into the yoga poses. Of all, yoga without conscious breathing is just stretching, that's all it is. So you have to bring the breath into the yoga poses which actually, you know, make them work. And with yoga, man, it takes a lot, a lot of time for those results to compound right and for you to really see the results of yoga. And with breathwork, it's immediate and undeniable. And you can be, you know, 400 pounds lie down on your back, fully clothed. You don't have to go into a yoga room wearing a leotard and feel comfortable. You know bending in certain positions in front of people. So it's super simple and that's why people and even companies are adopting to it. Now, if you look at meditation, I believe meditation is more of an advanced practice, because if you get somebody who's stressed out which is the world to sit down, sit still and don't think a thought for the next 20 minutes, they're going to get more stressed out. And what I've noticed is that people who implement a breathwork practice, not only is the meditations they do more effective, it's actually more enjoyable. So I'll tell people to implement a breathwork practice first. Specifically, a deep, diaphragmatic breathing technique Doesn't have to be breathwork detox, but that's what we focused on, because if I was to give you the comparison, it'd be like cleaning a dirty car.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

If you're going to clean your car, you wouldn't clean your car with a toothbrush, right, you'd want to clean your car with a power washer. Clean your car with a toothbrush right, you'd want to clean your car with a power washer. And that's what breathwork is. It's the deep clean for the body and it's the power washer. And then, once your car is clean, you can use the toothbrush as maintenance to get in those little crevices. And I think it's the comparison between, you know, breathwork and meditation. I do yoga, I meditate, but it's not as effective and noticeable of the results than breathwork. But when you put them all together it's beautiful. But I'd say one is the deep and the other is the maintenance.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, that's great. I love that. And why do so many people cry during your breathwork sessions?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

during your breathwork sessions. Yeah, you know, it's so interesting because I realized that, working with men, it's a lot harder for them to cry.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And because we hold a lot of stuff in. We might not want to be vulnerable because it might show our weakness. And they actually say in the Eastern civilization that the reason why women live longer is because they allow themselves to cry. They allow themselves to process their emotions. And the thing about crying is all it is is a big energetic release and if you keep that stuff in, it wreaks havoc on your nervous system and it can even cause dis-ease. And I think that's a big deal. They did a study with Dr Suzuki from British Columbia he's the head of the genetics department and they took the condensed molecules from the energy of anger for just one hour and within just one hour those condensed molecules had enough toxicity to kill 80 guinea pigs.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, my goodness.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And you know that's the stuff that we keep in and why so many people are sick and we don't realize it. You know and I look at someone like Steve Jobs you know he had all the money in the world, the best doctors, best technology, best everything, and he still died. He couldn't save himself.

Jamie Lynn

And.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

I tell people is you know, it doesn't matter how many millions or billions are in your bank account, how many green juices you drink, if you are holding on to the toxic energies of guilt, shame, regret, anger. It's a death wish.

Jamie Lynn

Exactly, yeah, I have his daughter wrote a book about him and I don't think they had a good relationship. I think he didn't talk to her for a while or it was kind of non-existent, so maybe that's something he held in too.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Oh yeah, that's I mean as a father, single father. My daughter's been living with me since she was five years old. It's the best thing that ever happened to me. I can't imagine having a relationship with my own flesh and blood.

Jamie Lynn

Yeah, right. And how important is it really that we manage our stress and anxiety in the workplace and at home?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Oh gosh. I think that's balance is key. I think we're all striving for balance and, depending on what you do like I've been an entrepreneur my entire life my life isn't always balanced. This insatiable appetite for knowledge and learning something new, you know, constantly finding balance, but then also the act of finding balance in your life. You're in balance and I think that's just a part of life. Right, the pendulum swings in both directions and you know you'll finding knowing thyself. I think that is the key in knowing how you operate, because sometimes I hate to say this, but I work good under pressure and I don't want to admit that, but it's what allows me to get things done, and that doesn't necessarily mean balance in my life. It's like when I'm unbalanced is when I actually become most productive.

Jamie Lynn

Yeah, right, Exactly. And you wrote a couple books, right I don't know if you want to talk about them One called it's called Breathwork Detox, right?

Breathwork Techniques and Spiritual Awakening

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah. So that book is Breathwork Detox how to Thrive in the Age of Anxiety. I want people to know because I spend, you know, all of my time certifying people in breathwork detox and doing these breathing events virtually every two weeks. I was the worst breather. People think I'm the best breather. I was the worst breather ever, holding my breath, panic attacks, anxiety, and I'm like, ok, I can't get through life like this. I'm never going to achieve my goals and get to where I want to be and just feel comfortable and confident in my own body. So something needs to change.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And the thing is, when something needs to change in your life, that something is you. You're the only problem you'll ever have, yet you're the only solution that you'll ever need, and when you take care of your mind, body and your spirit, your life will take care of itself. So that was, you know, my. You know I had to find a solution and you know I started out as a certified life coach, certified by ISA, which is a sports science, fitness professional. Then I became certified hypnotherapist, nlp practitioner, reiki master so I was collecting these certifications right. Andotherapist, nlp practitioner, reiki master so I was collecting these certifications right.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And you know, really just learning, even like hypnotherapy, I'm like I can't be hypnotized. But I went and did a hundred hour training and I'm like, oh, we're all hypnotized, at least like five to seven times per day. You know, even when we're driving there's something called highway hypnosis, so you're just driving. Next thing, you know, you end up to your location, Like you know, you stopped at the red lights, you stopped at the stop signs, but you don't really recall the driving because you were in a trance state. Yeah, exactly to one book, easy to read book and gives you the solutions that I used where I felt like it saved my life. There's a breathing technique I share that changed my life and there's another technique that I share that that saved my life and I put those in the book and the book is not riddled with all these breathing techniques because I realized if you give people too many things to do, they don't do anything.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

It's just like I can juggle, throw one ball in the air, throw two balls in the air I can actually do three balls in the air. But if you throw a fourth ball at me it's all going to come crashing down. So I know my limits. So I just focused on the best techniques that you can give someone who's struggling with anxiety. So that's why I wrote that book.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

The other book is the World is Yours, the Secrets Behind the Secret. That is an all-encompassing book and anyone who's on the journey of spiritual awakening which wink, wink is everybody, whether you realize it or not, like it or know it or not that book, what I've gotten from people is that it was the missing piece that they were looking for. It helped them connect all the dots of all these pieces of information they gathered over the years. And I remember one lady. She told me I think she put it the best she goes. You know, curtis, throughout life I feel like we're collecting these little tiny puzzle pieces. And we have these puzzle pieces in our hand and we don't quite know where to put them down, so we just kind of hold onto them. She goes, your book was like all the outer edges of the puzzle board and it allowed me to take my piece of my puzzle and put it in the game and have it make sense.

Jamie Lynn

Wow, that's cool.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

That was. I'm like that was great, like that was. That was the best explanation. And you know, that's the first book that I had and it became a number one bestseller and I think, like four countries and Oprah got it, tony Robbins, joe Rogan, deepak there's over 150 celebrities that have that book in their possession. So, and that was my first one, I did it all myself and a lot of those people like the book.

Jamie Lynn

Wow. And where could people get your books? On Amazon or your website or yeah, they're all on Amazon. Okay, cool, nice, nice, nice. And what are some of your greatest success stories and testimonials you heard from your breathwork clients.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Oh man, I'll say that most of the testimonials the big ones, I guess you could say seem unbelievable. And there's I witnessed miracles. Literally little miracles happen with this technique and the obvious is people immediately feel buoyant, they feel lighter, they feel like they just dumped all their emotional baggage. Because, you know, sometimes it's not the weight of the baggage, it's how we carry it. And a lot of people learn to carry it well and I like to tell people, you know, sometimes the weight that we need to lose isn't on our physical body, so people just feel just so much better and it cuts down their cortisol, their anxiety. So that's like the given for most people.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And then there's ones where a weird one for me, that was women kept reaching out to me saying that I forget the name of the doctors, but there's a doctor who deals with women in fertility and they were going to these doctors, spending all this money, and then they did the breathwork and then they were able to get pregnant. Now this happened a handful of times where I'm like, oh my God, this is the thing and what the breath is doing, it's removing all energetic blockages and suppressed emotions in the body which, like we said, can not only wreak havoc in your system, but it can also block you of your manifestations and block your body of the physical healing that it needs. And that was the physical healing for me was how I even got into breathwork was I had a stomach condition that doctors couldn't heal me. They couldn't even diagnose me and I was suffering. I thought I was dying of cancer because I went from 185 to about 142 and I couldn't think straight and I was all messed up and I was so desperate just to paint the picture of how bad it was, I checked myself in the LA County Hospital where I was living at the time and it was my second time there and I told them cut me open, I will sign the waiver, just cut me open. I need you to go inside and see, because I already swallowed three pill cameras.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

I took endoscopies, colonoscopies, every test under the sun, spending tens of thousands of dollars from the co-payments just co-payments from the best doctors from LA to New York, and they couldn't. So I was desperate and I thought maybe I had a like a like a new millennia type parasite that they couldn't detect because I was going to India and Thailand and some of these places and luckily they didn't cut me open because I found this technique and I did one session of this technique. One session it completely eradicated my stomach condition and I was mind blown. It took me like three days to wrap my head around this and I'm like how is this possible? I've I've been to the jungles of Peru, I did ayahuasca 12 times, 14 times, sorry, and you know, nothing did it.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And I had all these certifications and nothing could heal me, couldn't heal myself, and then this one technique did it for me and then I realized you know what? The reason why these doctors couldn't tell me what was wrong with me is because my issue wasn't physical, it was emotional, and they don't teach us that in school.

Jamie Lynn

No, they don't, Definitely not yeah.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And I do want to mention one other thing I touched upon, just to elaborate, but this is a big one, and the reason why I'm bringing this up is because that whole world is yours book, right, that was on the laws of the universe. We talk a lot about the law of attraction, but I talk about the other laws of the universe as well, in All Encompassed. And what I realized because it's not in that book is the biggest thing to manifest is that we all are trying to consciously manifest, and I'm here to tell people you already know how to manifest, you're already doing it every single day, right? You think you want something, you visualize it, you feel the emotions, it comes to you. The big step is obviously action, right, because visualization without execution is hallucination, and I think Thomas Jefferson said that.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, wow.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

But what I realized is that we all want to let things in, but really what we need to do is let things go, and we need to empty our cup before we can fill it up. We need to make energetic space in our lives and even in our bodies, which is our physical manifesting instrument, before we can let all these things in. And the analogy I give is like think of an airplane. So if you're in this airplane and you're looking to land somewhere in life and if there's something on that runway, you're not going to be able to land or take off. In fact, the air traffic controller which let's call it the universe if you're trying to land and there's something on your runway, they're going to tell you to keep doing what? Going in circles.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And a lot of people feel like they're going in circles in life because they haven't cleared their runway, they haven't made energetic space for the things that they want. So don't focus on so much the things that you want. The universe knows who you want. You think about it every day. Focus on learning to let go of the things. That's preventing you from accepting your blessings.

Healing Trauma Through Breathwork

Jamie Lynn

Wow, you have a point there, that's true. Blessings Wow, you have a point there, that's true. When people have blocks, they need to clear those, and I do have clients that they come to me and they don't know what's wrong with them, because they are medical intuitive. So the breath work could probably help them, because sometimes it's just something a doctor can't find, like you said, and it's just energetic or whatever energy or yeah, and what does trauma?

Jamie Lynn

how does that come in to what you do Like? How do you deal with trauma? I mean, how does it affect us?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Well, for me, I wasn't dealing with my trauma. I didn't even know that I had trauma, and I think most people don't. They know they've been through some stuff, but you don't really know. The trauma is there until it's gone, which is what I found out to be quite interesting.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

The thing about trauma is so the mind tends to always think into the future and the body holds on to the past. So the body is a living library of all of our experience and the body keeps score. So another thing is that the soul always wants to be present gore. So another thing is that the soul always wants to be present. So we have this fight amongst those three elements of ourselves and typically the mind usually wins, but the body will accumulate all these things. And the issue is when we are younger.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

We have to redefine our definition of trauma and pain when we get older, because what I consider to be traumatic now versus when I was a child is different when I was a child.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Not getting picked for volleyball, when everyone goes out and plays and I'm sitting there by myself, right, or I get pushed off the swing by a bully, right those are traumatic events that imprint our emotional bodies when we're younger and the issue is we don't have the emotional intelligence as children to process those emotions, so we store them in the body until we do get to a level of consciousness and awareness where we can. But this thing happens to us, called life and all these traumatic events and issues that we had, they compound and they build up and it doesn't release just on its own. You know we need to consciously do things to, whether it's shadow work, whether it's breath work, whether it's therapy, coaching, whatever. You got to do something to work with these issues. And then you know the trauma can cause all types of issues in our life, but when we release it we feel like a new person.

Jamie Lynn

Yeah, and then how often do you recommend people do breath work on a daily basis?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, so the sessions that I do are deep work, right? So you know the people we have. They do them twice a month with me, so I'll do them every new moon and every full moon, so we just did one for the eclipse. And we're going to do one for the next solar eclipse, which I think is like October 3rd.

Jamie Lynn

Not the podcast, but oh no, it is Right. It's coming up, I think in the second or third. You're right.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, and then conscious breathing is something that you should do every day, like we do have something we call the Breathless Club.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, wow.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, of course I do, and I have seven facilitators which I've trained over the years and each one has their own day Soulful Sundays and Motivation Mondays, intuition Tuesdays, wisdom Wednesdays and they'll do breathwork every single morning, 6 am PT. We do have the replays and we give that as a free bonus to all of our members and it's like a little motivational session and then a little breathwork and it starts your day, because our motto is win the morning win the day.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

So it's that maintenance. But as far as the deep ones, I'd say I mean, just try one and you'll want to do it. Like the first time I found it, I did a deep session every single day for close to I think. I fell off right around 10 or 11 months. I almost made it a full year, which is a lot, wow.

Jamie Lynn

I thought you were going to say 10 or 11 days. You actually went months. That's good, that's remarkable.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Well, that was like my personal initiation to teaching. The modality is really all the wonderful things that I can do for you.

Jamie Lynn

Wow, and how long does a session take? The deep breath work.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, so the deep breath work, the event is about 90 minutes. Wow, the event is 90 minutes. The active breath work is around 28 minutes and then we cool off periods, we do invocations, we do a lot, of, a lot of cool visualizations at the end because while they're in this, that space right, we want to take advantage of being in that space and, whether that's manifesting or whether whatever it is, we do different things, like last one. We did heal the inner child, so I brought them the visualization of healing the inner child and that was pretty cool. I love that one.

Jamie Lynn

That's cool. Yeah, that's awesome. And you did one you said on the full moon eclipse in Pisces just on the 17th, I think it was right.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, that was the inner child one.

Jamie Lynn

And you host those the new moon and full moon right Sessions. Is it usually just you or Typically.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

typically, if I do have somebody fill my spot, it's a master teacher. We have three teachers and I'm probably going to have one for not this next one, but the following one, because I'm planning on going to Tibet for about three weeks a month.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, how fun. Yeah, that's amazing.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, I don't know the connection out there, so I think I'm just going to have someone.

Jamie Lynn

Exactly. Wow, that sounds great, fabulous. And what is your definition of a healer and do you consider yourself a healer?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

What a great question, so I might have contradicting answers for you, which I apologize in advance.

Jamie Lynn

No, that's okay.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Because there's a part of me that doesn't want to claim to be a healer. I was trained by a shaman for five years, but I don't call myself a shaman. I don't walk that particular path that they do and holding the sacred stones with them everywhere they go, although I have crystals. But there's the certain lineage I was taught with. I don't follow that path, but I learned a lot of great things from them and I believe I don't heal people. I show them how to heal themselves. That's the important part that I feel. Now.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

I think the definition of a healer, with that said, is that there's a lot more healers out there than we believe, meaning a lot of massage therapists, right when they're putting their hands on people. They're working energy there you go right, and I think massage therapy for a lot of people is the this isn't you, but the unawakened healers to be considered a healer or even think that they're a healer or even have awakened to that, that they are healers. And they'll go into massage therapy not knowing that they were healers in past lives and look at you like that's what you did and you transitioned. You're fully clairvoyant. But for the average massage therapist, they're healers. Also, people don't think about hairdressers. There's hairdressers who are constantly working energetically with people. That's why you want to tell your hairdresser everything, like they're your therapist, right? Because they're a healer. They have their hands on you at all times, working with your crown, so there's a lot of undercover healers out there.

Jamie Lynn

Yeah, that's interesting. I was just going to mention that. I got my hair done yesterday. He put some color in it and he washed my hair and I just felt like he was a healer. I could just tell I felt really revitalized or healed after he worked on my hair. So it's amazing you said that. Yeah, that's cool.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

So cool.

Jamie Lynn

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And if someone wants to become a healer or a breath work detox facilitator like you, where should they start?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, so well, first of all, they could go to breathworkdetoxcom. And when they go to breathworkdetoxcom there's a couple of things they can do. One they can go to the teacher training where we give free consultation. So we'll get on a call with you, we'll answer all your questions, because we attract a lot of people who obviously want to help people. But also therapists, we have a few nurses, quite a few psychics believe it or not not and sports rehabilitation people. All these are like the types of groups of people that we've been certifying lately, so they can get a free consultation. But there's also a link to go to the virtual event. Now, if they go to the virtual event and if they got curious throughout this you know podcast and they want to try that we created a code for you called podcast 50, so they can put in that code and they'll get 50% off their first event.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, that's cool. And if someone goes to your website, your website is curtisleethomascom Curtis with a K, and what can they find on your website?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, so I don't know. I probably got to update my website, to be honest with you, because I was I love it.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, is it good? Yeah, I love't know. I probably got to update my website, to be honest with you, because I was I was a good.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

I love your website. Yeah, I actually haven't been in a while. I just went on today and I saw it had an old bio and I was like, all right, guys, we need to revamp this website. It's it's, it's all there. I would say if people want to get in touch with me would be to probably go to my Instagram man from thears and if they send me a DM I try to be pretty good with reaching, like getting back to people within 48 hours, and because so many people have questions, they'll go through the breathwork and they'll be like oh my God, like this happened, that happened and it's pretty interesting. We have a community for that, but I still like to get back to people.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, that's amazing.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Oh, that's amazing Also you do have a community where people can talk about their experiences with this right. Oh, that's amazing. Brothwork buddies.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, wow.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And.

Jamie Lynn

I also noticed on your website you offer three free chapters of your new book, right?

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Oh yeah, that should be on there too.

Jamie Lynn

Download that I can put the link in the bio Perfect here on YouTube and on we on all the major podcasting platforms. Excellent, you'll. You have a lot of opportunities for people too, like if they wanted to do certain things, like business opportunities, right yeah.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

So you know I try to give away. You know some things for them and you know, know the purpose of this podcast, right, it's not to sell my books or sell anything Like. The purpose of this, of me even deciding to start going on podcasts, is, if I can get people curious, then to me that was a win, because curiosity, in my eyes, it didn't kill the cat, ignorance did. So we don't know what we don't know and what I noticed is that even myself, a decade into collecting those certifications and finding myself and my mission purpose, when I found Breathwork, I'm like I was in this for a decade and I didn't even know this existed and it was like the secret sauce. So I'm like man, I got to make sure that people at least know about this. So you know, getting people curious first of all, curiosity is just consciousness at work. So if I got them curious to maybe go on YouTube or maybe to try a virtual event or even seek out somebody else, it doesn't matter. That's a W to me.

Unlocking Gut Health Through Breathwork

Jamie Lynn

Right, yeah, definitely, it's good that you're bringing this out there. And I just had a question. You mentioned you had stomach issues and then you kind of found breath work and it worked for you and after that it sounded like maybe your stomach issues weren't as bad or whatever. How long after you started doing the breath work did your physical symptoms seem to go away? I'm just curious.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, so I'd say almost immediately. So what happened was I was having a Taoist tummy massager massage. It's called CNT Amazing lady. Her name's Janica, she's in LA, if you can look her up. She's the one that put me on and told me hey, you should try out this breathing technique Because, if you think about it, your stomach is where 80% of your immune system is produced.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

It's where 80% of your serotonin is produced. Now, that's the two things that make you healthy and happy. So 80% of your health and your happiness is in your gut. And what this lady told me when I was on her table, she goes Curtis, your wind gate is blocked. Now that's terminology for I don't know Taoist Tao, whatever her modality.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

And your wind gate is the most important energetic center in your body. It's where all the energy enters, all the new energy, and where all the old energy releases is through that main wind gate. And mine was blocked. So it was like a sewage of old energy in my system and just like water, like if water's going down right or just flowing and let's say, something comes in front of it like a dam. Well, what happens? That water gets blocked. It has to go in another direction, and energy is the same way.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Energy travels through our body through something called nadis. Anatomically, you can't cut yourself open and see all these nadis, but there's 72,000 energetic highways and energetic channels that run through our body. There's one place in the body where they all intersect the belly, the stomach, where I call it the time square of your energy system, also 80% of your health and your happiness. So if you're not breathing deep into your belly, you are missing out on life. There's just so much magic there. So that was my issue. I was breathing in my belly. I was actually holding my breath and it was trauma. It was emotions that I was storing in my belly that was trapped there and I couldn't get them to, to release. Even after 14 ayahuasca ceremonies still couldn't. And that's because the breath is the only thing that's connected to all 72,000 natties and that's what blew my mind.

Jamie Lynn

Wow, that's amazing, but people need to be consistent with that. They can't just do it once or twice and think it's going to go away. It sounds like you have to be consistent with this.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

I did gonna go away. It sounds like you have to be consistent with this. You know to how I did it. Normally I'd say yes for anything, but I did it one time, because you only get to remove the blockage once.

Jamie Lynn

Then it starts flowing oh, I see, yeah, yeah that that's what happened.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

The blockage is gone and then I like started to like come back to me and I became actually more smarter. I didn't know how good I was, because Wow, you seem smart.

Jamie Lynn

Well, no, but I was dumb, then I'm not dumb. No, I get it.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

What I mean is there is even in our Western science. There's a clear connection between gut brain.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

The gut is the second brain and my brain was foggy. I couldn't even think straight, like. And when all that started to work, get work again, I was like, oh my God, I can, I can see, I can, I can, like, think better, and so many things changed. And then from there, I feel like it was more of a cascading of clearings and healings that I slowly became, got stronger. I got physically stronger, mentally stronger, but immediately that started and then within months I was a completely different person.

Jamie Lynn

Wow, that's amazing and I'd love to have you come back and maybe do a breathwork session on my YouTube channel.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

Yeah, that'd be cool, do it live.

Jamie Lynn

Yeah, that'd be fun. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just so everybody else out there knows that yeah, we could do that. But our tagline for the Electric Spirit Podcast is igniting your spirit.

Kurtis Lee Thomas

How do you ignite your spirit, curtis? Ignite your spirit, well, I think for me, the obvious that comes to my mind is doing what you love. Right, because stress doesn't come from doing a bunch of things. It comes from doing a bunch of things that don't bring you joy and passion. And when you find yourself getting excited about anything, you have to follow that joy, follow that excitement as if it's your internal compass on this planet. That is your North Star, and finding things that light you up. And I realized, the more you're in a higher vibration and frequency, your reality changes, which means like new people come into your life, new opportunities come into your life. You think differently about yourself. So the key to it is really following that joy, wherever it may be and however small or trivial. You may think that that is. Follow that.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, that's wonderful. And before we close out, do you want to leave the audience with anything? Or before we go?

Empowering Podcast Guests Celebrate Growth

Kurtis Lee Thomas

You know I don't want to depart any wisdom on them from what they didn't already grab from this, but I'd like to probably take the time to congratulate them, you know, for making it this far on this hard earth journey they call Harvard of the universe. It's not easy and you know, we don't have to pretend that life is easy, it's not, it's, it's hard. And you know, everyone's going through something that they're not talking about and it'd be really nice if you had, you know, not just compassion for those people but compassion for yourself. And you know, and and just be proud of yourself, you know, for listening to podcasts like this. You know it's not an ordinary podcast, you're not an ordinary person, you know, and you, you have to be at a certain level of awareness and consciousness and honest your spiritual journey to be able to, you know, to be here today making it this this far. So, yeah, I mean, pat yourself on the back.

Jamie Lynn

Oh, I love that and I hope you, I, you can come back, curtis, I'll come back, yeah that would be great and thank you so much, and they can find you on your website, curtisleethomascom. Right.

Kurtis Lee Thomas
