Welcome to your Encouraging 5-Minute Podcast. You give us five minutes. We're going to give you some encouragement. That's what it's all about.

You want to be encouraged. Yes, and that's what you're going to get here. My name's Eric. This is my friend, heather. By the way, at the end of the five minutes, if you need more encouragement, you can always listen to WPER, Virginia’s home for encouragement, and if you can't pick that up where you live, you can always download the app where you download apps.

It's so easy, yes, just search for the W-P-E-R app.

You, and I know it to be true you believe God provides all of our needs. So when you hear this next statement, you might be like well, I'm not sure, but it's true, you have everything you need.

I mean, we trust his word. He provides all our needs. Now there are those moments like if God has given you an idea or a dream or a vision or a plan or something you really want to do do it, you have everything you need. Honestly, for me, sometimes I feel inadequate, Like I don't know if I got what it takes, but you do.

0:01:11 - Heather

Yeah, and it's choosing to believe your mind over God's plan, because your mind is going to tell you all the time you think you can do that Sure, good luck.

0:01:21 - Eric

I mean how quickly do you? I know I do talk myself right out of something.

0:01:26 - Heather

Oh, absolutely. Or share an idea with someone we're like, well, I'm kind of excited about this, and they immediately shoot it down. And again, that is not encouragement from God, because if he's given it to you, there's a reason he's given you this idea or this hope or this dream.

0:01:42 - Eric

Now, honestly, there are those times where I start looking elsewhere for the answer. Like, if it's a situation where there's a financial need, I start looking to other things other than focusing on God. If there's something, like if I have a vision to do something, I start thinking what can I do to get this started? As opposed to God, I'm just going to start and I'm going to ask you to help me take the very next step, whatever that might be.

0:02:08 - Heather

And I think that's, in my opinion, that's the humanness in all of us, because we look at, you know, with our human understanding, what we're capable of, what others are capable of. And you know, I'm always inspired by, and you've seen, these people who have climbed Mount Everest, but they're blind or they're physically disabled in some way, but they got to the top of this mountain and I'm sure they had naysayers the whole way, of course. Then you start to look at things like well, maybe I have a chronic illness or maybe I have this, but again, like Eric said, god has equipped you with everything he's going to call you to do. And, eric, I don't know if this has happened to you and I don't know if this has happened to you, but when God calls you to do something, it sounds a little crazy. Anyway, yeah, right, yeah truly.

It's counter-cultural to everything, Like what.

0:02:57 - Eric

He calls the unqualified yes, I'm certainly fit that bill but then he qualifies those he calls Definitely. And a lot of us think and this is true you mentioned Mount Everest like the big things that happen in people's lives, and whatever your dream is, whatever your idea to actually take action to do it, a lot of us think we always need a giant leap of faith in order to really follow what God is calling us to do and to fulfill our purpose. But he never mentions leaps in the Bible. No, no, no.

0:03:25 - Heather

he mentioned steps.

0:03:27 - Eric

It's the steps of faith that lead to success.

0:03:30 - Heather

And it's those steps that you don't stop. You just keep putting one foot in front of the other, even when you can't see the end of it. Because that's why it's called faith. And when we trust him to lead us, especially somewhere that he's called us, we can take those steps. Even if we're unsure, we can be sure in the God who's called us to do those and, eric, this totally goes along with everything you're saying. It's Deuteronomy 31.6. Be strong, be courageous, do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord, your God, goes with you. He's never going to leave you, he's never going to forsake you. So you can keep on going, no matter what your mind says, no matter what other people say, because the one true companion on the journey that he's called you on is God.

0:04:14 - Eric

Be courageous. I love that part of it. Do it today, take that action. You have everything you need. God has provided. Hey, we hope you've been encouraged today.
